One of the best chettinad restaurant I've ever had
This place serves authentic Chettinad food for reasonable prices. This being one of the restaurants which has been there for a lot time don't expect it to be swanky. But they the dining area is neat and spartan. They serve food in banana leaf. And all the waiters wear black caps which ensure their hair doesn't fall into the food. Servers are efficient and cordial.
We have ordered Mutton biriyani, Meals, their special chicken curry and seer fish fry. Mutton biriyani was a bit bland for me especially the Mutton pieces. The fish fry also could have done with some more masala. Special chicken curry and the meals were very good. The chicken soup which came with meals and biriyani was very good too.
One of my favourite restaurant for south indian cuisine. There service was quick and prompt😍. Especially their food taste was marvellous. I am big fan of their Nattu kozhi Biriyani and vanjaram fry. If your south indian food lover then this place is must try one. Goli soda is similar to other places only. They serve unlimited non veg meals if you have large appetite than you can try out this place

This is a traditional Tamilnadu Chettinadu restaurant and the dishes had the exact spices which it should have.Non veg meals was good and the highlight is the Crab
masala which tasted excellent and we should use both our hands to eat the crab, because the Crab size was big enough.It tasted superb, still I remember the taste.
They serve Food in Banana Leaf, that is good for health.
While going for lunch going little early is recommeded around 12 Noon, so that you can try all the dishes, if you go late there will be very less choice left for your.

Extremely good food. Visited this restaurant right from the beginning when they started this restaurant. Almost all the dishes are good. No one has matched this restaurant till date. Late CM MGR’s chef is the owner of this restaurant.
we were in Chennai along with friends staying at the AMC club when checked with everyone about a nice place to have food everyone referred us to Amma chettinadu Restaurant so went there and took parcel orders Crab curry, Nalli Bokka curry, Brain Fry, Liver fry food was decent but not as much as it was spoken but it was very economical
Visited the restaurant little late during dinner . So some of the items are not available. Their egg dosai was good. And briyani tasted decent. Muttom chukka - nice. Omlette n half boil we're good.

Amma Chettinadu is a restuarant located on GN Chetty Road. The restaurant is owned by former cook of MGR. The decor is decorated with portraits of MGR and his songs are played in the background.
Coming to the food, I had ordered Chicken Kotthu Parotta, Prawn Thoku, Egg Appam, Chicken Gravy. All the dishes were cooked perfectly. The waiters over there know the menu back of their mind. When you visit places rather than seeing the menu, it's better to blindly order what you feel like.
A dinner for two would cost around Rs 800/-. If people like non veg varieties, this is one good place people can try.
After finishing shopping in T.Nagar, we were famished and looking for a proper South Indian restaurant and narrowed down to Amma Chettinadu restaurant after seeing their Zomato rating of 4+.
The restaurant board for directions is visible from the main road but designated parking is not available so one has to park on the side roads.
With fully air-conditioned, the restaurant looked clean and spacious. We took a corner 4-person table and the waiter was promptly there for the order.
We ordered mutton soup, mutton sukka, nethili fry and viraal fish for starters. The soup was excellent so were the starters. However the quantity was less.
For main course, we ordered meals. It was served with chicken gravy, fish gravy and usual sambar rasam and vazhakai fry. The fish curry was very delicious and rasam too was excellent.
All the dishes were very good. Only a slight concern on the quantity. Must visit for all south indian non-vegetarian lovers.

This is a place you must visit atleast once if you're in Chennai. Talking about Chettinad food.. This is the best the town has got. Had Meals, chicken Briyani, Vanjaram fry, Mutton chukka and Nethili fry. Nethili fry is all time favourite of mine because of this place. All the dishes were really awesome. Service is ok type because this place is always a busy one and don't count in for ambiance..

While several ‘chettinad’ hotels are found there are very few places which offers a complete, sumptuous meal to its customers. This is one such place. The place is run by the cook of erstwhile Tamil Nadu CM Dr. MGR. We could find MGR portraits and MGR songs playing in the backdrop for ambience. If you are an MGR fan you are going to love this place apart from their food.
What we ordered ?
Chicken Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Chicken Lollypop, Nethili Fry, Prawn Fry, Mutton Brain Roast, Mutton Liver Fry.
Food was served in plantain leaves which enhanced the food’s taste. Customers are served with complementary ‘Kozhi Rasam’ (chicken clear soup). It was hot, spicy and flavourful and set the tone for the meal.
The biryanis appeared to be light at first but as you eat the spiciness starts unfolding. They were not what they appeared to be. The meat was well cooked.
Lollypop contained five pieces of deep fried chicken. Chicken was succulent on the inside and crispy on the outside. The masala was good. Prawn fry was well cooked with a mild coat of gravy. Nethili was deep fried with masala. Was crunchy and tasty. Mutton Brain and liver were spicy and perfectly cooked.
Another highlight was their hot rasam. It was very homely.
The uniqueness in their cuisine is all the masalas they use are home made. Their food is ‘spicy’ compared to other restaurants. The quantity and quality they provide for the price is absolutely worth it. We would feel satisfied as we have eaten a home made meal after eating here. Hats-off to them as they maintain their taste over decades. Overall a great experience. Paid ₹1943.
One of the places were I had a tummy and heart filled meal. It’s an authentic chettinad restaurant with an MGR theme (you can enjoy his classic hits along with the food). It’s quite busy most of the days and you’ll have to wait to get a table, worth the wait though! Still can’t get over their fish gravy and pepper chicken :) And the joy of eating from a banana leaf!

The newly renovated Amma Chettinadu Restaurant has caught a lot of eyes in the city for it's authentic Chettinadu Cuisine. A Non Vegetarian's paradise, there were not many wide options for vegetarian, but still the taste stood apart in all the dishes ordered. The ambience is further boosted by the MGR themed decor and songs in the Background. I had ordered Parotta, Mushroom Pepper Fry and Gobi Manchurian and all the dishes were good.

We went on weekend where it’s difficult to find a table. We were waiting for 15 min to get into. The old 80’s songs which played low. Banana leaf is the thing which I love most about all hotel. One can get all non veg dishes. Quality is great but the quantity is less. Cost is affordable . Service is good. Finally we ended up having heavy lunch.
I didn't know what was in store for me when I landed at this place. Work was on my mind and my colleague was the one rooting for this place. 45 min was the wait time. All this while I was thinking food better be good or the wait will not be worth it's time.
Finally we were led in to a full to the brim restaurant. We ordered almost everything that once had life in it.
Food came promptly and we dug in. A noisy group sank to complete silence. Food was delicious served with care. Kitchen kept Churning out dish after dish inspite of the fact it was a busy day.
I will give full thumbs up to this place. Go for this delight.

We had been for dinner, usually chettinad restaurants are good for side dishes and the non-veg Kolambus. We did the same. Prawns fry , egg kothu parotta was good. Idly and fish kolambu was too good. Also we tried dosa and mutton kolambu, the combination tasted good. Ambiance is decent enough, liked the interiors with Dr.MGR photos and playing MGR songs in the background,It was crowded as it is weekend. Price on the quantity is little high, but definitely worth the taste.

Authentic food, little expensive considering the quantity. I liked the home style prawn gravy. Good place to visit to have a light feel after eating.

Went for lunch on Sunday, Found very difficult to park my car as there was no security to guide i had to park my car long way from the hotel. Got seat in first floor easily(thought we have to wait, after reading the reviews here earlier). The floor was very dark compared to the ground floor, It could've been better.

Meals x2 - Unlimited rice, with Fish and Mutton gravey, Vaazhakkai Poriyal, Keerai, Rasam and Curd. Fish gravey was good than the mutton's.
Amma Chicken - Gravey with two pieces of chicken it was perfect without much spice.
Mutton Sukka - Very well cooked tiny pieces of mutton, It was good too.
Vanjaram fry - A big slice of vanjaram, loved it.
Prawn Masala - It was like how we prepare in home, taste was nice but felt bit spicy.
Crab Rasam - This was something which i was waiting for long time to try, missed in maplai restaurant. This was wonderful. I drank most of the rasam, rather than eating with rice 😋

I was so excited that I stumbled upon this place. The food is absolutely brilliant and seafood is fresh and the prices are reasonable. The staff are very sweet. I love this place and I think it should have a 5 star rating.
My friend took me to this place....the food was soooooo delicious where u can actually taste the exotic chettinad cuisine...and it has the history of Dr MGR...yes u can oly hear his songs there and the people are more welcoming and hospitality was very gud...the blend of spices are amazing...it’s been time since I left the place but I can still get the taste while typing this...and cost wise s also it’s okay...

As we already tried nair mess, viswanathan mess etc... only one left in tht list was amma chettinadu restaurant. Authentic one. When we entered the restaurant at 7pm , I was welcomed by the restaurant owner himself and the captain .......very pleasing. old MGR songs were playing in the background and the restaurant was filledd with the fragrance of incense sticks...... ambience was bright with white spotless walls and brown couches....first impression is the best impression ..... i was very pleased with opening and it set the tone for my dinner.
Food was served in banana leaf .... we ordered for idiyappam, egg dosai, mutton paya, chicken fry and some additional gravy. Idiyappam was soft and fluffy .......mutton paya was coconut based .... i don generally prefer coconut based gravy so i gave a pass but friends who had the gravy said it was excellent. We wr given complimentary fish, chicken and mutton gravy. But the pick was mutton gravy .... which was not really spicy and tasted absolutely delicious..... went well with idiayyapam and egg dosai.... later ...just to taste we ordered chicken biriyani.... it tasted a bit a like rice kitchadi not excatly like a biriyani....
One of my friend said the told that their speciality is the lunch meals. I would luv to try tht. And this place will always be in my list of favourites for sure.
I have been eating at this place almost 20 years, nothing changed. After 9 years break started going again when possible. Their gravies are good and home style. All their sea food are good as well as any mutton/goat curries are better then chicken. If you want to have native style NV meals, must eat place. Sometimes gets crowded that compromises their service a but.
Late Sunday evening, we were super hungry and skimming T nagar for some good restaurant. Amma chettinadu is diagonally opposite to T nagar AGS and there is a board on the road to guide you inside. It's a typical mess kinda place, which serves hot pipping idles and dosa and amazing non vegetarian gravies to tag along. We ordered idles, ghee dosa, chicken chettinadu, prawn thokku and egg bhurji. All were good, especially the idles were soft and nice..tasted heavenly with chicken. They also given fish kolumbu as side for idly! Prawn was OK.
Ambience and service was average. Pricing is decent.
If you are craving for homemade style idly and non vegetarian gravies...this is a place for you. Lots of family crowd comes along.
Iam not giving a 4+ because they need to improve on service. Also can focus on branding, for example our car was parked 100 meters away and it was very shady and scary with no lights! The street needs better lighting. Please take note of it.

Unfortunately, since my last visit, the Seeragasamba rice have been replaced with Basmati rice and this is quite disappointing for an afficinioda of the former like me.
My search for an authentic south Indian restaurant ended here. What u spend here is worth every penny..ranging from quality and taste of the food to the service they provide and the ambience. I would suggest to prefer this hotel for lunch. The best restaurant, in its kind, i have found in Chennai so far.
The food and ambience is always good they won't make the place over crowded and their food taste remains superb always

Amma Chettinadu Restaurant - allegedly owned by MGR's cook remains an old favourite and never disappoints. Everything is good and worth trying - but I would specially recommend the Quail and Amma Special Chicken Chuka. Difficult to go wrong at Amma.
The go to place if you really want some good non veg chettinad meals... chicken drumstick is another must order dish...
But don't ever order veechu parotta here... they serve u a big appalam...

We went there on a Thursday evening and didn't love the experience. The food was fine but they should improve their presentation. For starters we got finger fish which was weirdly sour . We got an egg parotta with mutton curry which was yumm and also their appam was really soft . We also ordered the chicken fried rice and paneer butter masala which was good .
Customer for past 20 yrs . For one who need to taste real chettinadu taste . Go for rabbit (Spl),prawn, crab ....etc .

Amma Chettinad restaurant is a quite n neat place as per my observation. Being vegetarian (I eat eggs:D), I was reluctant about the food quality. But to my surprise, it was good. I have ordered egg fried rice and my colleagues ordered chicken, mutton, prawn and many NV items. Everything came to our table at a reasonable time. The food here is really superb and gives a authentic chettinad taste. Myself n my team were happy after seeing the bill which was very reasonable. Pl give a try if you are chettinad food freak!!
Too much crowd.. Reminded my college food.. excellent meals and mutton chukka. Curry leaves flavour was mesmerising in mutton chukka.. Need more attention to customers.. soup served along with meals is awesome.. but soup's hotness not lasted few mins as temp of restaurant is too cool..
Had tried this place via food apps for thrice and the food was good despite me ordering at thier late night closing hours. So had a guess that lunch should be good. (Weird guesse huh 😛) ...
Landed up and they had a lone menu with usual chinese and indian items with a list of Chettinadu dishes. Went for non veg meals and mutton chukka.
The rice was really good with well made mutton and fish gravy and all other accompanying stuff for a meals. The chicken gravy was the only disappointment.
The mutton chukka was yum made in proper south or chetti style with curry leaves . But quantity was hugely disappointing.
They had recently renovated and the place was clean and fresh too. Well have to taste again to decide properly

If you wanna relish some authentic chettinad stuff, this place is a one point stop..The association with MGR, his pics all round and his songs forming the background score, gives this place a charming dimension ( guys, pls dont dont paint any political colour in this).. Try everything you want and I can assure you that you shall leave the place with a tummy full of gastronomical delight.
This restaurant is very good one, there is a item it is called drum stick chicken, it is very very good, which it is not showing any of the picture, i like this item very much, i never tested this type of drumstick chicken, it is a dry fried chicken, but the test is ultimate, till now i never get this quality and style also, this is my favorite, and thali is also very good and testy, bc's all the items in thali are really teasty with original test. i like this restaurant very much, in chennai this is my best hotel where i can eat only eat , happy with quality ,quantity and price.
Visited this place on 19-Jun-16 (Sunday) with friends for dinner. It was very easy to locate, take the lane opposite to AGS T.Nagar and it is the 4th building on the left. It wasn't very crowded, the hotel was well lit and great background music (Classic MGR songs only).
We ordered the Vaan Kozhi Biryani, Chicken Lollypop, Crab Lollypop, Veechu Parota, Idiyappam & Paya, Meen Kozhambu and a Plain dosa.. Absolutely no complaints on any of the dishes, my favorite pick though is the Crab Lollypop - Simply Brilliant..!! (A little but too oily but I am not going to complaint against it).
The service was also quick, the Biryani and the Fish was pretty cold.
Overall it was a great Sunday Dinner with Friends.

This place is so authentic that they dont use chillies for hotness in their dishes instead its pepper!

Invited by a thala vazha ella and a large serving of rice along with small cups of normal veg servings of kolambu rasam poriyal curd comes the main players
Chicken kolambu- top takkar
Fish kolambu- normally i dont like this but here it was dhool, there was no raw smell whatsoever and the fish as soft as butter
Nandu masala- toooo good I took some back for next morning
Prawn masala- soft, not chewy cooked to perfection with the masala being well sucked into it/
Nalli elumbu rasam- this is where the interesting part comes ,after having enough rounds that am not able to sit straight comes this which I decide to drink instead of having with rice but my mAmA said u'll miss the real essence if u drink, taking his advice I did it and I never regret it till now:-):-):-):-):-)
I had to have such awesome sides and rasam with the very favourite DOSA and that happened to be a fitting finish for this CHETTINADGASMIC UTSAV

This is one of the best chettinad restaurant in the city.. Seldom ppl know it.. Dont be surprised to hear puratchi thalaivar MGR songs played 24x7 here.. It is said MGR's cook has started this restaurant.. I dont have authentication on that.... But food is fantastic... Especially chicken, fish and crab items... Its a great place for food lovers.. When you eat the food.. You will definitely feel you are somewhere in down south of tamilnadu ..

Travelled all the way from Sholinganallur to this place for a lunch. They are just awesome for the chettinad full, perfectly spiced and well cooked. They made me a carnivore for a day again :( :)
This place is renovated and looks a lot better now. The service is nice, they talk to you patiently and suggest recommendations and do not fuss about taking time. Perfect place for chettinad style non vegetarian food.

Amma Chettinadu restaurant - hearing the name gave me the thought of getting some authentic and quality chettinadu food which I haven't had quite a while. On going there, I wasn't disappointed a bit.
The restaurant could be located in a short road (opposite to ags cinemas) 50-100 m from GN chetty road. The ambience was decent as it was recently renovated. With the hotel bearers being fans of late actor/politician MGR, his pictures were found throughout and his songs were played the enture time. A group of 6, we went on a saturday afternoon. The resto was quite busy but the staff were polite enough.
We were given a complimentary chettinadu kozhi rasam which was a perfect start. We ordered chicken pepper fry, mutton sukka, nethili fish fry, chicken lollypop and paneer pakoda (for 2 veg ppl). Pepper fry and sukka were delights though the quantity was less.
We ordered mutton biriyani, naatukozhi chicken biriyani, non veg meals and veg fried rice. The gravy offered with meals was one of the tastiest chettinadu gravies I have had. All the items were worth giving a try.
We finally ordered lime sodas to finish the sumptuous luch that we had. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to try non veg chettinadu food. Overall, it would be a different experience given it's ambience, taste and quality of food. Vegetarians - beware as this is not exactly the right place for you.
i had very high expectations from this place but it turned out to be an average meal. The food was decent but not a place where you would crave to go back again and again. We ordered some fish curry, chicken chukka, appam n idli..
Brilliant crab soup and mutton chukka... although biryani was OK... bumped into this place during my stay nearby... not very expensive and a decent ambience with AC where you can take your family too... would definitely recommend
When I visited Chennai, this was nearby my room. It has good food. Extremely South Indian. They put food on a banana leaf and serve it. I liked the food here. Especially the prawns.

Have been to this place with friends on a hot Saturday for lunch.:p We dint had a much expectation for this place before we came.
Coming to the ambience the place is bit small and cannot accommodate large no. Of people at a single time..For our luck we got seat when we entered itself..The walls are hanged with MGR and Anna pictures on side which takes us to the old political era of Tamil Nadu.
Food here is amazing if u are a pakka Non-Vegetarian. We have given a complementary soup which is perfect combination of hot and salt. For appetisers We have ordered chicken chettinad boneless,mutton chukka and chicken fry which is of awesome taste though the quantity is bit less. Chicken lollipop is very juicy. Nethili fish fry was very crispy and damn good in taste. For main course we have ordered mutton biriyani and chicken biriyani, both were awesome and filled with chettinad flavours.
Coming to the serving part, it was OK I would say. There was a bit confusion at the end between the servers. But leaving that I would recommend to visit this place at least once If u are a Non-Vegetarian fan and Not satisfied/can't find any good home style food cuisine in the city. :p ;)
The Hotel is supposed to belong to MGR, the Tamil legend in acting and politics! The food is true to its name and price, it's Amma's handmade chettinadu food all the way!! The Crab Soup is yum! And what came one after the another was heavenly!! The basic Chicken Biryani is worth the try and so are the mutton item...fish was good but all had the same masala base...for a simple fare when in Chennai, worth the trip!

The joy of eating authentic south indian chettinadu food on a relaxed Friday afternoon, amma mess was the natural choice. Maintaining the great unique taste, the service and above all, the satisfaction of having good food and a happy heart.
Few must try would be the kalakki omlette, the rabbit chukka, amma special chicken of the day and of course the kaadai, the list is a never ending one.
For all those non-veg meals lovers, amma mess it is the one stop shop !!

Its been a while since we had a lunch like this before. Me and my friends are from Madurai, and this is what how we want the food to be and how we want the food to be served.
Service: Look, when you want rice, you dont have to call the server and ask him for rice. If your plate is empty they come to you and fill it up. (A big Thumbs up!)
Even the security outside the hotel was so nice to us.
Food: Delicious, We had Non Veg Meals with Naatu Kozhi Kolumbu, Vajram Fish, Mutton Chukka, Nethali Fry and Prawn dry. Everything was simply nice. And the Rasam served is the tastiest we had in any of the Chennai restaurants
Ambiance: I am a big time MGR fan and i was humming to his hits that was played throughout our time in the restaurant. Clean and neat ambiance. Nothing to complain about!
Price: Nothing to be shocked. Quite affordable. We were 5 and we usually split - With all the dishes we had it costed us 450 per person
Finally, i would like to conclude saying - this is one of our best lunch experience in Chennai so far!! Our stomach was so filled, we couldn't even finish our Lime soda and had to carry it while leaving!

Finally had an opportunity to visit this illustrious restaurant known for its links with the late MGR. The place seems to have been spruced up of late. the wall are tiled and the tables are brand new marble topped ones. We tried non veg meals, mutton briyani, nethili fry and the one the server vehemently recommending, amma special boneless chicken.
The meals starts with a complimentary soup that they serve for everyone. The soup was awesome to taste. The non veg meals was very good. It was tasting home made food. It consisted of unlimited meals, chicken, mutton and fish gravies, rasam, curd, kootu, poriyal. The special mutton gravy which they serve in a larger portion was the best of the lot. All the gravies were neither too spicy nor too bland, just the spice that we used to have at our home.
On the down side, the mutton briyani was poor. It was bland, the mutton didn't have any flavour of the briyani in it. Nethili fry was very tasty and good in quantity. The amma special boneless chicken was again very tasty. The whole lunch costed us only Rs 830 including the water melon juice that we had along with the menu mentioned above. The service was too good, again homely.
Overall, it is an excellent place to have a very tasty and cheap non veg food.

Came here when i was on my business trips to chennai and went after over stuffing myself every time !!

It may be hard for you to locate the first time but you will soon feel immersed into the south indian fine dining vibe. The music is from the MGR era and the place is filled with locals especially on lunch time. The serving is done on banana leaves

Its not the best service if you can't speak tamil. Its hard for waiters to understand and you can't even ask them how much portion will come with the meal or how is one dish different from another. They had to find a waiter who could understand a bit of english to take my orders.
The food will come in fast and in large portions

I may have never tasted home made chettinad cuisine but this comes close
#steamed rice : it may sound foolish but you don't just get steamed rice. The rice comes with 7 other curries like a proper thali. Its mouth watering and spicy
#chickenkalimirch : spicy and superb. the portions are enough for two people yet the taste was so good that i finished it all alone
#biryani : Nice & spicy. Will fill you to the brim
Come here if you are in chennai for a short visit and would like to try the famous Chettinad cuisine !!

Brilliant south indian meals. Meen Kozhambu is really awesome.
Must try - Nandu lollipop, mutton chukka and vanjaram fry.
When you go as group, you definitely find great value for your money.

If you wants traditional and best chettinadu food in chennai , this is the place for it.
When ever i feel like eating authentic chetinad food , i have no second opinion.
Meals with variety of kulambu (chicken, mutton, crab, fish),no better place u may find.
Nethili fry, kadai, rabbit, crab, vangiram fish fry worth it.
I took my family last week and thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Best thing i like about the resturant is their ambience with traditional values and old MGR songs. I often visit the place, only for the tasty south indian nonveg food mixed with the tradition.
They are renovating the ground floor.
I doubt they might change the feel of the resturant by renovation and to meet the growing competition!!!!!!!!
I humbly request the owner not to destroy and spoil the tradition feel of the place and please never, never, never.... introduce north indian, chinese .etc to the menu. I think this is the only place in chennai which reminds every visitor to carry the chettinadu feel of the food.
Madurai kumar mess , chandran mesh all loosing its traditional values by introducing the chinese , north indian menus. Many food lovers are disappointed with this.
Are you looking for nice ambient dining then you may consider this place. Authentic chettinad restaurant. Spicy and flavourful taste. MGR photo collections and MGR movie songs were played while we enjoy our food here. Truly an experience. Do check this place out. 👍
Non veg meals was gud.. quantity of mutton sukka n prawns 65 was literally microscopic..taste was gud bt quantity was too less than price...crab masala lacked flavour
Food quality and taste, service and atmosphere everything was good, except portion size. Though ordered side dish items were tasty, they were over priced for the quantity served. For example, chicken 65 had about 7 to 8 small pieces (may be 100g) but priced at 250 Rs., same goes with pichu potta chettinad pepper chicken as well.
Some of you who might not like much of ghee flavor in Biryani, this might not be the biryani for you. On the contrary, ghee lovers will love the taste.
They serve complimentary chicken soup on arrival for all, but didn't like the taste though (tasted more like diluted salna).
Service was good and prompt.
MGR songs in background gives you evergreen retro feelings while eating.
Night tiffin at Amma restaurant..what a soft and delicious poratta ...mutton chukka simply superb. Must taste again.
This place in my wishlist finally I have tasted in this restaurant all the dishes are tasty specially mutton Chuka and Natu kozhi soup ambience also good 👍

Went today for lunch. Ordered Meals, viral fish curry, mutton chukka, crab lollipop and rabbit roast. For the price tha quantity is less. Ambience is good and service is quick. Mutton sukka is a must try. No flavor in crab lollipop. Viral fish is so soft.
Great food with excellent service and staff. Enjoyed their non vegetarian meals. Had chicken and prawn 65, mutton chukka, fish curry, egg podimas, squid varuval. Portions were slightly small but the taste was authentic. Loved it!
One of the best places to have spicy, tasty and piping hot food, Lunch or dinner you get to eat the most homely food, be it your regular meals or briyani or tiffin you will find it is as tasty as you would like it to be. I have tasted briyani both mutton and chicken,regular non vegetarian meals, kola urundai, mutton, chukka, chicken pepper fry, nethili fry, brain fry, sura puttu and also the whole range of tiffin items, nothing can be found wanting. Give it a try and you will be a regular. You will be hearing all the hits of MGR as a bonus. Only minus is lack of parking and absence of valet!
This was my first time at this place — super impressed with the quality , service , taste of the food. The mutton sukka was really impressive- almost as good as Madurai. All dishes were super tasty and plain rice with the different meat dishes were stunning — must try :)
It was a sheer delight the chettinad dishes were authentic taste.Fish was very fresh as if straight from the sea to the frying pan.Mutton Sukka and egg bhurji with Appam were delectable.To top it the perfect balance of sweet and sour lemon soda.Stringly recommend.

Only issue I had was that the quantity of the mutton sukka and chicken 65 was very very less but the taste was outstanding.. The meals were unlimited though. Service of the staff was very good.

One of the authentic restaurants in Chennai to have Chettinad food. All the dishes tasted so well, everything was less spicy and favourable. The ambience was good enough and coming to service they are at their best. All the server's attitude was polite and professional also friendly.

Great service by the team. Every food item was authentic in taste and it fills our tummy and heart at the same time. A must try mess in Chennai where they provide wonderful veg and especially NON veg meals through the day with no breaks 11am-11pm.
