Zomato servers only cheap Food... their selection of restaurants are exclusive or stale food.. some of the best restaurant are not cattered . I might go back to swiggy
The crab Varuval Masala was stupendous here. The gravy was spicy and amazing enough to make the boring Biriyani too good. The chicken 65 Biriyani and mutton Biriyani really disappointed me where the chicken 65 could had a bland taste. Fish 65 was just fine with the perfect crispness required for a 65 with finely chopped onions and cabbages. The mutton soup was really good since was spicy and hot. One of the best places to have authentic chettinad food.
Tasty food . Tried their non veg meals in afternoon which was tasty with gravy of different non veg curries including chicken and fish . Evening i had paratha which was ok nothing spectacular but the mutton curry was very good with nice soft pieces of mutton , Friendly service , Very prominent location .ย will go again
Good food. We ordered mutton Biriyani , chicken biryani. Tandoori chicken and special anjappar chicken.
All were prepared nicely. Staffs are friendly.
Prices are very low .
It's recommend to go.
Staff are good.ambience also beautiful.lovely moments.we enjoyed lot...
Food taste really very good....
We enjoyed lot..meals its very tasty...i like rasam...had great time with us.

One of the best Anjappar outlets. Decent ambience, clean place, good quality food.
Briyani was so tasty that we ordered extra ones.
Butter naan, butter chicken, panneer masala. Everything was perfect on the day we had.
Mutton kothu parota was average. I've had the same dish at Velachery Anjappar. It's awesome there.
Awesome place for foodies especially meat lovers. Ambiience was nice and staffs were polite and helpful. overall one should have an empty tummy to taste the food served
I always suggest this place bcz of delicious food and taste. I personally like so many dishes in that suraputtu , prawn biriyani is my all time favourite. Keep up the good work..
Very good experience and food is unexpected tastes and very good I like very much .iam regular to anjappar but in mylapore its best .thanks.
and you captain mariyam is the best guest relation people good keep it up .from Vasanth vbh mngr
this place has so many branches across the city. Tried the meals and got it in a very good quantity. Mutton biriyani is nice. I prefer ordering online from this place. You can try some good chettinadu food here. They also offer north indian food but they aren't that great.
Had the mutton biryani, veg biryani and the non veg thali.
I personally like the mutton biryani, as the spices were subtle with good tenderness in chunks
I recommend you guys to try the non veg thali which is unlimited and totally value for money
If you want the masala kick in your meal, then go for the veg biryani
It's a very good place to have casual lunch/dinner with friends and family! The food was really good and the manager was polite and friendly enough to take care of us.
great taste and served hot
juice had too much sugar
The name board is not there for this restaurant, so it's kinda difficult to identify it. Otherwise every food items are good and well prepared. All the working staffs are very polite and they provide us a good hospitality. Way to go! ๐
Amazing mutton biryani calls out here. A bit spicy fot my taste buds but the biryani tastes absolutely delicious. Each grain of rice perfectly cooked with a very soft and delicious piece of mutton with a boiled egg. Absolutely satisfactory, and very much sufficient for two people.
Ordered ceylon parottas with chicken chettinad masala...The food was good considering the late hour though a little expensive. Courteous staff and service was prompt.
This place does not require any introduction. Localites will for sure know this place as they are spread throughout the city.
They were and are known for chettinad food, especially during lunch their South Indian meal along with fish fry and mutton chukka is famous.
We had gone for dinner, and ordered butter naan along with paneer butter masala, chicken pepper masala and paneer 65. It was pretty decent and budget friendly.
Overall a decent place to hangout with, if you donโt want to burn your pockets.
Until next time, sayonara ๐

My family of 14 members went to this restaurant. Service is good.
chicken Briyani - quality is good quantity is low when compared to other restaurants.
Chicken poricha Briyani n 65 Briyani good taste.
But no egg served in any of the Briyani.
Meals - except fish gravy all other gravy poor taste.
Omlet so salty.
Kola urundai is good taste per piece is 33rs.
Grill Chicken - wrongly ordered in the restaurant worst taste. Not grilled properly. Roti not served along with it.
Overall average restaurant.
Came here on a friends recommendation. I am in love with the place. All the food and flavours were just too good and leaves no room for criticism..
Mutton Sukha Varuval - By far the best flavour and to top it.. its boneless.
Vanjaram Fish Fry - I'm a fish buff and the fish fry was just right with light masala
Mutton Biryani - was a different very suttle flavoured biryani
Chicken Chettinad Masala - a nice spicy gravy
Carrot Halwa - sweet hot heaven
Ambiance - 4/5

First time in Chennai and that too for only a day!!
Met an old friend and he took me here to try out the Chettinad cuisine.
The restaurant looks old and jaded to be honest. There were hardly any guests there and the ambiance was dull too.
We took our seats and were given a single menu card !! 2 would have been great and the restaurant was empty too !!. Anyways we were served an orange flavoured welcome drink in the tiniest of cups you'll ever see.
Having no idea about the menu I asked my friend to order for me .He ordered a Chicken Chettinad and butter nan without even looking into the menu and we asked the server for a fish starter and he recommended the Vanjaram Fish fry.
Both the dishes came at the same time so I guess there's no concept of starters and main course.
The fish fry was really good , nicely grilled to perfection and just the right amount of spices. Nice dish a must try here.
The chicken Chettinad was superb, the first bite made me love it to the point that in the evening I searched for it too.๐
The butter nan was average but palatable so it passed .
We ran out of the chicken curry in the middle and ordered another chicken Chettinad but our server recommended the special boneless chicken dish . This time though the recommendation was horrible. The dish turned out to be the perfect opposite to the Chettinad chicken. No taste in the gravy , the chicken chunks felt like being lifted from the Chinese menu. They were fried in cornflour and felt stale too. On complaining to the server we got it replaced. Leaving this experience aside this restaurant does serve good food . You just need to know what to order.

ย recomended
We had lunch hear ambiance was OK .............food was good .............service nice they taken time to serve little bit ,just improve timing in food service
Had a lunch with my colleagues (totally 3) . When I got my seat. Really loved the ambience .There was tv playing a sand art of my idol (super star - Thalaivar), Got really exited and started with my order. I ordered the below list (sura puttu was my first order instead of fish 65 which they didn't have at the time (1pm))
1. Mutton biryani(2)
2. Fish biryani
3. Mutton kola urundai
4. Fish 65
First on biryani's, felt it was priced little high with the quantity served, but tasted good, secondly on mutton kola urundai was in my long time wish list, wow really amazed with it. Finally with fish 65, Never had this before , I don't know how to react with this. But I'm sure that it tasted and cooked really good. Overall my tummy is full. Photos of the food and bill attached.
Perception persists; and logic fails! I always had a perception hat this is more a non veg joint than a veg. It's true.
But they so have good veg chettinad dishes and they are ok. Their dosa etc is just ok.
Good and quick service.
The famous South Indian place for chettinadu and village spices
Wanted to go for a different order( wanted to taste everything in nonveg ๐๐๐
So tried chettinadu PLATTER
A mixture of prawns, chicken, mutton 2 varieties, and KADAI
All chettinadu style
Super spicy ๐ญ๐ญ
Then as usual the South Indian biriyani
I always feel that getting egg biriyani is worth, as normally Tamilians don't eat the pieces in the biriyani
To finish of the meal PEPSI DIL MANGE MORE๐ท
Enjoyed the night, the service is super cool but noisy place, where people talk loud๐๐
BON APPETITE FELLOWS
PEACE OUTโ๐ผ๏ธโ๏ธโ๐ผ
Normal vist wit friend, strts with usal menu chiken tikka , briyani bla bla tikka tastes very normal not super mark biriyani asusal good tender chiken correct taste . Suprisingly Service was exalent & decent . Ambience was okies. for sitting having guge space . Good = bad. Nothing spl but can try once. Nambi ulla polam. ๐๐ป
Ordered through online restaurant was unable to provide Fish tikka and instead they offered Fish finger. Quantity of gravy ย is not enough for two people. On time delivery
Visited this restaurant for lunch recently with a friend. It was totally unplanned and we had a great dining experience. Their seating is pretty big and spacious and ambience is okayish. We ordered chicken biryani, Chettinadu chicken roast and meals. The food was brought to us within minutes. The chicken was cooked so well and it was juicy. The food tasted really yummm. Anjappar has been there for ages and still provides good authentic South Indian food. Overall, a good dining experience at decent rates.
We reached this place which is located on the 1st floor, around 2.30pm on sunday afternoon and it was little crowded as expected. Ordered chicken biriyani, chettinad chicken gravy, chicken noodles and chicken lollipop. Biriyani was ok, with lots of chicken pieces which were little hard, definitely not the best. Gravy was delicious without which i would have not been able to finish the Biriyani. Chicken Lollipop was nice and crispy. Chicken noodles was tasty as well and we had to ask the waiter several times for refilling water which was quite annoying, though can't complain because it was crowded by that time!

Asked a few locals and this one was in the list by all, hence my first local food hopping started here:).
Its dรฉcor has a subdued tradition feel to it with huge tanjore paintings and huge pillars etc. I realised later that they have mushroomed all across Chennai; one of the pics shows the other outlets.
Popular stuff is biryani, Thali, crab dish among others. We ordered veg and their special Non Veg thalli. The thali included Veg thalli was decent nothing spectacular, but the non-veg with chettinand chicken was fabulous a bit fiery but was lip smacking yummy; finished it in no time:).
ย
Tried the chicken biryani in another visit, was again worth the visit and seems a hit as saw 4-5 tables having the same:).
You would find an Anjappar at the end of almost every street in Chennai. A chain of restaurants spread all over the state of Tamil Nadu, which boasts of presenting the most authentic flavours of the world famous Chettinadu cuisine.ย I must tell you that every word counts true to their claims.
The Anjappar Special NON VEG MEAL is a must try if you want to put your taste buds into a riot of mouth savoring delicacy.
The PRAWN BIRIYANI is one of its kind which is made with excellency here. The prawns and all other fishes are straight out of the sea and leave you with an yearning to come back again and again!
First time trying briyani in chennai and this turns out to be Best briyani, had mutton dum briyani and fish finger, fish finger was so delicious wit mayonnaise.
Had the special meals...the meals came along with chicken chettinad ...,the chicken was spicy and good portion ...the pieces were succulent and well cooked. Ordered a country chicken fry, which was good enough for 3 people (not big eaters though). The boneless country chicken was prepared with good spices and was soft with a lovely flavour. Overall good ambience, great service and yummy chettinad food. Strongly recommend for spicy food lovers
FOOD: Very Good
AMBIENCE: Good
SERVICE: Good

Went for lunch with my friend. My friend had chicken briyani and I had Butter naan and chicken chukka masala. Both the dishes tasted good. The service was prompt.
Good place to visit once in a while.
Food tastes awesome.. Love their non greasy briyani.,.. Tangiri kebab tastes great there.I just love their mixed fried rice...yummy kalikattu chicken and brain fry. Worth every penny u spend there..thumbs up.
South Indian non veg delicacy at its best! Spicy, fiery and extremely mouthwatering chicken dishes along with soft appam or crispy parota makes it a not be be missed affair if you are in Chennai. Warm staff and decent ambience with a not so heavy dent on pocket are added pleasures! Must try: Kothu Parota!
Anjapar is such a gud place to hav ur south indian cusine and moreover the spl chettinad foods!!
I loved the briyani n the poruchakozhi fry over here.not too pricey .its worth the money #thum briyani!!
I went out for a sunday lunch with my friends... That day special was vankohli fry and I had confusion whether to choose it...because waiter insists me that again and again...so I decided not to take risk...I went with usual Butter Naan qnd Chettinadu Chicken kolambu... Nice place to hang out with friends....
Decent place..the biryani , parathas n kababs are good but not great . Ambience is ok. Recommended for quick lunches or dinners . Did not find this place great though
Seating is better in this place after all we have come to dine in comfort. This place serves authentic chettinadu food. Their menu is good. Food is very authentic here and they make awesome biryani and gravies, Please be cautious when you order Sea food and check for the freshness, had a bad experience once. Overall good authentic and tasty food, reasonable price.
One of those places I will frequent if am in Chennai. The mutton biryani is to die for and they also have the most delicious crabs.. I completely love the food in Chennai and Anjappar is a big reason for that. Surprisingly you can have your meal alone without feeling awkward here coz its the food that takes your complete concentration.
Just planned to have quick dinner last thursday late after 10pm out from movie in inox landed in anjapper just ordered tangry kebab and mutton briyanni it came little late bit I was surprised both were so delicious and melting in mouth the briyanni was totaly different from our regular south Indian briyanni wich we get from our local shops I was wondering that how they came out with this idea to be diffrent from others because all other fine restaurants also don't want to do it . So its place for a different flavorful briyanni and the kebab was perfect I have been to many outlets of anjapper but this place has best ambiance . Service was good . I think this will be in my favorite list
went along with a friend of mine twice for lunch and was received well by the staffs.i had no idea that they had so much to offer. was quite amazed by the menu. since it was just two of us the order placed was not a big one . anyway the waiting time was not bad. the starters was really good. the chicken lolly pop and the 65 was nice and spicy. however, the initial orders was the lolly pop and the Prawn 65. which was not available so settled for the chicken 65. then came the Biryanis both Mutton and the chicken . the biryanis were really up to the expectation. i always have problem in finding a briyani served with a taste. but not at this place. the Prawn fry good indeed and spicy too we both loved it more when compared to the other dishes. totally not a bad place but don't expect it to be cheap. i would its moderate and expensive for few dishes given the quantity.
Bottom line is Anjappar is a perfect place serving the native type food
Good for chettinadu items especially nandu varuval , mutton kolla urrundai , sorra puttu , muttun chukka
It has become sort of a tradition to take out of town friends to places that serve indigenous cuisine. Anjappar was one such stop. Frankly speaking, I thought the place din't have much to offer before I visited the place. On reaching the place, we were informed that we will have to wait for around 30 minutes to grab a table. Loitering around, I almost regretted choosing the restaurant for it took more than half an hour to again hear them say we have to wait for half an hour. We did get in after 45 minutes in total, ravenously hungry.
I had hoped that the quality of the restaurant hadn't gone down from whatever I had heard about it. Being in the scene for a pretty long time, restaurant chains tend to condition themselves to the public, gradually eroding in quality and service but still going pretty strong. That was another apprehension looming around my head.
The ambience is a typical family restaurant setting and not too shabby in total. A portion of the restaurant here has been cordoned off for reasons unknown. That explained the unmanageable crowd and dearth of seating. Seating is extremely congested; so much that I had to jump between chairs to get in the other end. There is no proper passageway for people sitting on the other side. This is for the table right in the middle of the hall and not the corner!
We ordered quite a few items, vastly across the range. This, in spite the fact that they did not have most of the items on the menu. I even clarified if they are out of these items or they just don't prepare them anymore. The answer was the latter. Shouldn't there be a reconstructed menu then?
Anyway, coming to the items, Clear Chicken Soup was not great, but was palatable. Parotta is unusually expensive and wasn't as good as the ones you get elsewhere. They din't have Chicken Biryani, but had Naatu Kozhi (Country Chicken) Biryani. So, one of that, a Kaadai Biryani, 2 Mutton Biryanis were ordered. The quantity of Biryanis was pathetic; had to order 2 to appease my hunger. The meat in it however was ample and well cooked. Typical Chettinad Biryani, but not as rich as one would love it to be. Mutton Kheema Balls Masala (Urundai) was good indeed. Not a great fan of Kheema Balls, so I couldn't rave much about it. The others loved it, so that says something. The Chili Prawn was fantastic. It was one of the best dishes sampled there. Quantity was meager as expected. The other splendid dish was the Special Anjappar Chicken Dry. Rich and loaded with spices, the ground pepper lingered on for long. Could have been better with fewer bones in the meat, but no one was complaining for it was that brilliant.
A mixed experience it was regarding the food. Service was a bit slow, but no once should complain about that as the restaurant was figuratively bursting at its seams. Some customers even started quarreling about the same. The poor chaps were doing their best. I hope everyone does remember that the waiters and servers are people too and they have human limitations before losing their tempers. Rude and aggressive behaviour from the staff is something intolerable, but other things should actually be forgiven. If nothing, just think that you wouldn't want to ruin your experience of good food by getting frustrated easily.
Prices are nowhere cheap. Quantity is meager for most dishes and won't be adequate to split amongst two people itself. Go in a group of more than four and you can probably split the bill comfortably. Go in two's or three's and you shall end up paying heavily. Literally.
Overall, a good experience. A place that can be infallible in its provision of good food and a comfortable meal. A certain backup plan if nothing else works out or you planned too late.
P.S: I have no clue how the vegetarian fare tastes. That is a hole left unattended. If someone does experience that, do add on for the sake of others who want to know.
Pakka Chettinad delicacy!
The Tamil tradition being uplifted during the service was amazing.
They have their own style of serving the customer.
Food. The flavors were amazing and optimum in ever dish, specially in gravies. Anjappar proves that price is not directly proportional to the quality of the food.
Food: 4.5/4
Money value: 3/5
Service: 4/5
ambience: 4/5
I had fish curry and rice. It was of course spicy, considering it's chettinad cuisine.
The menu is big, so will take time to explore dishes.
But some of items on menu were not available when i went. Service was okay.
It's a no fuss food place.
New year lunch plan but their service was very disappointing to me and my friends.... Delay orders ๐ service is also not satisfied ๐ by the way food taste is really good especially mutton biriyani good taste and then tandoori really even spicy and then fried rice good ๐ nattu kozhi soup ๐ฒ๐ yummy.... I enjoyed the food but it was an unsatisfactory service and payment method thank you so much we don't think the amount will be high..... Thanks for giving chances to two way payment half amount cash and half amount UPI payment thank you and tasty food and good place
A good chettinad restaurant in Chennai. I came here after 5 years now and the taste is still the same authentic one ! I liked the mutton chukka and their wheat parotta. This restaurant is located in the first floor and they have a parking facility in front of the restaurant. ๐๐ปโ๏ธ
The paneer 65 was too dry. The mutton biryani rice was good but the meat wasn't as soft as I thought.
Chettinadu and chinese cuisine. They amazed us by their food. Taste was good. Ambience wasnt that good. Parking available. Cards n gpay accepted.
One of the pioneers in the Chettinad cuisine. Been a customer for almost 20 years. Great taste. Wide variety of delicacies to choose from, actually we get totally confused what to order. Their meals is a signature dish in the menu. Served with fish, mutton and chicken gravy and lots of sides to order. I tried the crab lollipop, my god, was out of the world. For all those like who like to taste crab that's shelless, pls try this dish. Very well prepared. Of course the all time favorite is the vanjaram fish fry (seer fish), one of the highlighted dish. For the dessert, don't miss the elaneer payasam, soothing after a meal. For the night they have good variety of tiffin, starting from our traditional idly, dosai, parottas and the egg parottas. Highly recommended restaurant. A must visit. Thanks team anjappar for maintaining the taste and service.
Amazing place to have seafood. Do try the shark starter dish which is there. And ask for the pomfret, it's a special which might be available on some days.
The experience of eating on a banana leaf is the most wonderful and authentic experience one can get.
I try Samba biriyani here..after longtime I had good taste... other foods also delicious..
This place looks great has a Plesent environment not too crowded the food is Really good but the presenting the food should be improved they need to doo more working in presenting the food to the customer the attraction of food in presenting is less even the restaurant is not crowded they do bring the food late
One of the best restaurant in Chennai for seafoods...
sura puttu,vanjram,tiger prawns,crab etc..๐
Really good service and food. The overall experience was awesome! If you are/live in Chennai and haven't visited Anjappar, you are missing out!
This place was a good reminder for me to go back to the classic iconic spots in Chennai!
The mutton kola biriyani and the chicken keema dosa were just amazing. Food was reasonably priced. Also noticed their staff taking extra caution for a bunch of vegetarian guests they had. Very mindful and lovely service!!!
Congested and stuffy not because of the crowd but that is how this place is laid out. Food was average nothing special to elaborate. Parking available.
