After a busy day,I was eager to have some north Indian food. This place was recommended by my friend. Ambiance was good and service was o.k. Parathas were tasty and Dal Tadka was awesome. Price was reasonable and it is a must go place if you want to have North Indian dishes especially Parathas.
Over the past few days, this has become one of our favourite dinner destinations. Reasonably priced and tasting good, Dal roti express is a go to place if you are looking for some tasty North Indian dishes.
Good place to Bengali people. This is the most popular Bengali restaurant in Thiruvanmiyur and Taramani area. I feel homely having their food. Quantity sufficient. Zomato doesn’t charge for delivery. I ordered 1 item costing 25/- only and there was no delivery charge. Awesome.
Food was excellent
I ordered Roti meal, 1 alu paratha and 2 boiled eggs but received 3 alu parathas and 2 eggs. Please take care next time
Dal Roti Express is VFM from every perspective. Never disappointed!
Don't go inside thinking about the ambiance coz there really isn't any. Go here if you want to eat good food at reasonable price. The owner is very friendly but sometimes he could get a little grumpy and that's only on the workers , so don't u worry 😃

can be improved on packing because when we order from office or somewhere other than home we don't have cutleries and plates so in that case we have to manage with that only.
I stay close to this restaurant and order food frequently from here. this is more of a take out place but they do have a few tables and chairs in case you want to dine in... coming to food, they authentic North Indian food and and the never disappoint with taste and quality. I am never had a bad meal from this place and for the price you pay this is surely value for money!

As the saying goes ghar ka khana. The typical north Indian flavour wait for your taste buds here. The phulkas, sabzis, panner masala will just make your day. Not a great place to visit if you are choosy about ambience and fine dine, it's a simple outlet serving budget north food
ok types joint for people who want a north Indian food flavor with easy on pocket.
after looking at so many reviews I got curious and wanted to try some thing from this joint.
Decided to have a Massala Chicken since it was appreciated.
Got one Massala Chicken packed and had it at at home.
Found it ok types...means gravy was ok for being less spicy (though I asked specifically for Theekha).
Chicken was a bit over cooked, but portion was generous (2 medium leg pieces).
Along with chicken there was green chutney packed which was really good and had that chatpata flavor.
Next time will try a Paneer Dish.
I have been getting food delivered from this place for quite a while now and every time I have been impressed. The rice items are decent and the quantity they give for the money is a lot. Complete value for money.
The food is decent as well, can't say anything bad.
If you search for north Indian foods with pocket friendly, then this is the place you need to check in.
But the place is congested, not hygienic. I suggest to take away the food and have it in home.

been there and regularly order food from here to be honest in an area like Thiruvanmiyur its the cheapest and best food you can find specially for the North Indian. Food is good prices are reasonable what else can you ask for. One of the best affordable food joint in the area.
This is my favourite place on swiggy. As I said I haven't visited this place, so don't know how the ambience and service is! Very pocket friendly and tastes very good. I'm very well impressed with the quantity that they provide for the price. I ordered special chicken masala and roti. Both tasted really well.
Well, my friend ordered from this place and we were impressed. We had Butter Roti and Kadai Paneer. Kadai paneer was really good, the taste was awesome and the flavours were completely balanced. Good food and pocket friendly specially good for students who love North Indian food.
Its a not a nice place to be but the food that u get,specially for north indian ppl in south where we dont have much options for fast food at an affordable price with a nice taste.
Very much pocket friendly. Loved butter roti & chicken. Dal roti express was like a saviour (without Negan) during the month end times for a college go'er like me 2 years back. One drawback that i want to highlight is regarding their delivery which was not prompt at all back in the day. I hope they have made certain changes now. Wish I could find one such place here in bangalore.
Haven't visited the place, only ordered through phone...rotis are really good and soft...delivery was fast...have ordered here more than 10 times...everyone in ma home likes the food..it sure is pocket friendly....asked them to make the items spicier and sometimes not so spicyand they really did it well.....only negative is that more oil was present...otherwise good to order here...
This is a small pocket friendly place with no ambience. I had roti and panneer butter masala. Roti is soft. It would've been better if the masala had more panneer.

3.5 not for the taste, or for their attitude (for that - 2), but for the mere fact that they served North Indian food, and delivered it too to my newly warmed house in Thiruvanmiyur. First few days after moving to Chennai (till we got the LPG connection) we survived on the food ordered from Dal Roti express. Have some variety, decent taste, quality just ok. But beware of spices, and delayed service. Yellow daal and phulka is good. Other vegetables are full of oil. But eatable!!

A bachelor living in and around Thiruvanmiyur and ignorant of "Dal Roti Express" is impossible to find. A typical north indian joint targeted at the young working population growing exponentially in that area, Dal roti is extremely popular and the number of people tele-ordering food from this joint is countless.
When I was staying in Kottivakkam, me & my room mates religiously had our Sunday dinner here. I always stuck to Sunday special chicken masala, 4 rotis & a soft drink. On days when I didn't feel like having chicken masala, my dinner comprised of 3 rotis, dal fry, egg bhurji, & a soft drink. The chicken masala was spiced amazingly well and used to I shamelessly lick through the whole curry. I have even tried the Parathas with the Aloo paratha being a favourite of mine. For some reason, I never liked the thali, but my friends did like it a lot. Biriyani is not good here, Fried rice is!
Do not expect to be seated comfortably - It is more of a road side dhaba without AC. Take away should be preferred if you are high on ambience. Service is also not that good, specifically on weekends. Also on weekends, the delivery time for your tele-ordered food is min an hour (you have to be lucky for that).
All in all, ghar ka khaana at a low price - definitely not to be thought of as a restaurant!
Very simple place with tasty food and very low prices. Given the low prices do not expect fancy at the place. There are no tables and yo get two stools to sit n eat. The food was hot and the phulkas were soft. A must visit if u looking for a simple n cheap place to fill your stomachs.

value for money. everyweekend we either get a home delivery or go and have there. dal tadka with extra hari mirch and jeera rice is the best combinaion you get it here. All the items are awsome.

The cheapest north Indian dhaba available in the locality. They serve reasonably filling parathas and the paneer masala is awesome. If you want to parcel home some really good and quality north Indian food, dal roti express is the place for you.
Kadai paneer! Mazaa aa gaya.. After a long time tasted good gravy with a hint of tomato which reminds me of delhi! And like the icing on the cake, the phulkas were just 7 rupees! We ordered for dal fry but got dal tadka instead which was okay.. But my taste buds were having a good time with the kadai paneer! I cant believe i havent been to this place earljer. A must visit place for regular lunch and dinner as its bloody cheap.
Best and cheap food..perfect place for student
if you are a college student or IT professional and you are looking for a cheap and decent food to eat so guys this is the place. I order from here food comes really hot unlike many other home deliveries..and its best for that price..kadai paneer, mix veg, dal tadka are best to eat here..so guys dont hesitate eating from here its a good place to eat from, either go there and eat..but my advice wouod be order food from here sit back at home and eat like a king..I bet one person cannot eat more than 200 bucks of food..
Excellent food. Ambience is not great at all. Needs to upgrade. Very very low cost. Chappati only meal 65 bucks. Chappati/rice meal - 75 bucks. N.v available as side-dishes. Very north-indian. More of a lunch place for individuals at work. Lot of parcel business.
Economic pricing before. But before GST they printed new menu cards with chicken rates reaching 125 and rice touches 100. No more an ordinary mens choice. Food is decent.
The food is good; the ambience is not. The space is limited and seating is cramed.The location is bad; difficult to access. The service is good. I would visit if I'm alone for a quick bite . It's not ideal for a family especially if you have kids or elderly parents.

I found a roti that I used to get in my hometown. Dal tadka was so good. And in the end the basmati rice perfectly cooked. Good restaurants for North people
