The restaurant is not in the main road but at the end of a cross street so may not be a catch for the diners but is a worth navigating through google maps and spotting the place. Their home style prepared good south indian dishes and courteous staff should be catchy. To taste mutton, fish, prawn, chicken items - in only south indian style and at very affordable price then one can surely opt in here.
A Home converted into a small hotel ..good homely food and maintained really well . Friendly staff ... but cannot accommodate many people .. and decent pricing .. overall satisfied .. can go here for a good change and typical south food on banana leaf is served here
once visited with my friends. was quite crowded . the ambience was good actually. talking about the taste , it was really great, the name is just suitable "thennagam" , i did find the taste of south in many dishes.. service was quick.. and talking about the price it was reasonable..
For pure South Indian food people should come give a try. Good ambience , quick service & great taste. Also you can find a small outlet outside for refreshment & one thing unique about thennagam is, here you can find coffee and tea with organic brown sugar at very reasonable price.
Quality is what is expected and they deliver it 100%. Such magical mathi meen kozhambu, mutton kola, amazingly authentic 🤩 mutton malli can be made a little better. Otherwise everything tastes so good. Definitely reasonable for such taste. Never let the standard down. Way to go!
Good restaurant. There are only 5,6 tables max. But the food is very good and spicy. I came to know this restaurant through Google rating. No sign boards to direct you to the hotel. Staffs are very polite and nice. Good for family.
Ordered chicken biriyani combo in zomato.
Chicken biriyani was delivered along with an egg and 3 pieces of thennagam chicken fry.
Unfortunately, biriyani was not hot but tasted good.
Thennagam chicken fry was too gopd with tender chicken pieces in a spicy masala with a home made taste.
Packing was good.
Overall, a good place to try some tasty food!
one of the very good place to have very good south indian non veg meals .. they give 5 non veg gravy,3 veg gravy,1 non veg thokku. podi ghee,koottu poriyal, rasam and butter mik.. for Rs 129/-
which is a great steel. i love the taste ,ambiance is too good and seating were confertable..also the service good overall highly recamend ..
On the way to american embasy biometric centre i saw this restaurant and went for lunch ..we had non veg meals which is u can say best in chennai ...also the service is too good.. pocket friendly sure i will come agin to this restaurant
Ordered Mutton Biryani combo through Zomato. It was very obvious that it was chicken Biryani rice with little pieces of chicken still in it and separately prepared mutton added to it. The 3 pieces of chicken 65 was not what I had in mind, deep fried chicken pieces, but more of dry chicken masala.. and again it was only ok, nothing special about it.. nevertheless, the Biryani tasted really good.. it is the typical Southern Tamilnadu style Biryani.. probably Karaikudi style.. I ordered with the Zomato 60% discount and it was worth paying ₹100 including the tip.. but is it worth the actual price of 190? Maybe not...
I never write reviews abt any restaurant but food from thennagam made me write one .we ordered Karaikudi mutton kolambu and thennagam spl chicken..the taste was authentic and flavour some..we had a feeling of home cooked lunch..thank you .
We four.of us went to this restaurant, this is my second visit best is the thennagam chicken meals which comes with 6 non-vegetarian gravy and chicken fry... Even podi with ghee is good. This time the mutton sukka Briyani is also good (during my first visit Briayni was okish) finished with nannari Sarbath with badam pisin

As the name say it is pure authentic south Tamil nadu cusine.
After my hectic work schedule went there for a dinner.Location is little bit inside.But we can park 2 cars and bikes.
Ambience is good and peaceful.A person who took the order helped out to choose the dishes and right from Mutton special soup to dosa everything is perfect and tastes awesome.
Only drawback is location.If this one is in the main road definitely it will be full all the time.

One of the best meals ever had in Chennai each and every gravy has sme unique taste especially prawn gravy its been my favourite, price is always really cheap wen you compared to other restaurants meal lovers definitely need to try..

Decent place with friendly staffs. The ambience is also pretty good. Coming to the food nv meals was soo cheap and tasty and their chicken briyani was okay. The price is reasonable. Overall a nyc place to dine in with family or friends for South Indian dishes.
After seeing small board around Nugambakkam many times, one fine day I went to this place with 0 expectations. Ordered one non veg meals and one Elai Suruti fish 🐟 varuval
They served only 2 veggies ( kovaikai poriyal & keerai) and appalam & white rice.. then came the 6 varieties of gravies ( wow man.. it’s amazingly delicious and 💯 worth for the cost) 1. Karuvadu (dry fish) Thokku (literary thick with lots of nethili pieces)
2. Prawn 🍤 gravy ( I got 3 big prawns)
3. Fish 🐠 gravy ( with fish)
4. Kaadai (quill) gravy (obviously no pieces🙃 but exactly tastes like kaadai)
5. Chicken Gravy 6. Mutton Gravy
The best part is everything is unlimited for just ₹129 (Veg - ₹ 99) even the Kovai poriyal was fantabulas
And about Elai Suruti fish - they said it is basa fish, since it is not that spicy 🌶 so it was okay to me.. may be have to try some other next time
Also enjoyed their courteous service and special Thamboolam near the cash counter

Food was delicious... Though restaurant name is unfamiliar taste up to the mark.
On a whim, decided to try out a random place for non-veg meals during lunch. Decided to go with this place as the ratings seemed good. Ordered a chicken meals (chicken gravy with 2 solid pieces of chicken) that came with chicken 65 (2 small sized chicken pieces) for around 250 bucks for lunch.
Was surprised with their packaging I must say. So neatly packed and everything that accompanied the meals came packed in little containers of its own.
Quantity and Quality can be ticked off without a second thought for their lunch meals. Will definitely bookmark this place if I ever have a craving for South Indian non-veg meals again!

Few days back we tried the food from this place in lunch as we were looking for good south indian meal so we stopped scrolling over this place and order 2 non veg meals
when we recieved the order at our place it was so huge carrying 2 🍌 banana leaves in it which seems decent and hygienic packaging and lots of boxes of gravies with it and very hot packets of rice which was too much for two people.
Loved it good taste,
Only dessert part was missing which I think should be provided in meals like this but we were so full we realised it later, that's fine.
Will definately order again to try some more things...

As recommended by a north Indian Freind who was craving for a non veg meals.... Was just scrolling through the available delivery options for the same in Zomato where I stopped at this place as I have already crossed this restaurant couple of times but didn't got a chance to try anything from here...
So finally ordered for 2 Non Veg meals and I was surprised when I received the order because of the packaging and mainly I found 2 Banana leaves inside the bag to give the exact feel of having south Indian food. Bonus points and appreciations for that..
Moving to Food ,Yes the packaging itself says so much that you will have a feel of Hygienically packed food.
There was huge packets of Rice which was so Hot to handle and such a big portion which is actaully good for 4 people because both of us finished in 1 packet itself.

The first thing impressed me was the neat packing , all the gravies and accompaniments dint mix with each other and was neatly packed . There was 5 Non Veg gravies plus rasam and More . The food was of good quality and each gravy had its own flavour . I was completely satisfied with the meal and the Quantity is good for more than 1 person .
The quality is equally good , Just a suggestion , Adding a sweet to this combination will make the meal totally complete

it’s a two months old restaurant and it’s already one of my favorites. It’s a house converted in to a restaurant which makes you feel home. Which I prefer the most. They have sufficient space to park around four cars and few bikes which is a good parking space for any restaurant. They welcome you with a welcome drink that was something nice of them and the places gives you good vibes. Coming to the food! They have a wide range of menu. I personally loved everything I ordered. Their specials thennnagam mutton and biriyani is one of the best and mutton chukka was good. Was totally satisfied.

Heard about the new place trending on Instagram and thought of giving it a visit one fine day. It wasn’t crowded when we went there. The parking was good even though it was a small road. And they welcomed us with a welcome drink which was actually nice. Good job! And the food was good and they brought it up so soon which is always a plus to the restaurant. We ordered few dishes plus biriyani. I’m a big biriyani fan. They didn’t disappoint me.
I love South Indian places much. Thennagam is one fine South Indian restaurant. They make you feel home when you visit their restaurant. Their food is super amazing. I love everything chicken and they had the best chicken dishes. What’s can I say I ended up ordering a lot. Stop researching a visit this place.

Mutton chukka and Thennagam mutton are the ones you shouldn’t miss.

One of best and pocket friendly non vegetarian restaurant I have ever been. Best to have non vegetarian meals which served with six gravies. Especially the dry fish thokku is the best. I have never tasted such a quality dry fish in a restaurant. Service is little slow however they are very polite and sorry about the delay. Neat and cozy place. Interiors are simple and good. Air conditioning also good. Recommend place to visit and treat your tummy

Best meals in Chennai I can say. That too at this price .We had veg meals rs 99 non veg meals 129. Both were unlimited.i forget to mention there podi and ghee which is exelent which is comes along with meals.we had thennagam chicken fry for sidedish. Which is also delicious ...our total bill were rs 401 for two which is very reasonable .ambiance and service is also very good..I can highly recommend this place
I come to know this place through Zamato I went with little expectation , to my surprise the ambiance is very good.. I ordered mutton cola, ilai sutri meen arrival and veg meals.. kola urundai is correctly spiced and tast very good price Rs 19o.ilai meen is unique in taste and remainds me the meen polichadu of kerala and it is very good in taste price Rs170 and above all their veg meals priced at Rs 99 that too unlimited is the winner superb meal for very cheap price ..i think they have priced low to get the market.above all the server named Sadam have served with smile.

One can smell and taste the rich spices and flavours of karaikal style cooking in their menu. They have a very selective menu in which they excel. Almost all the dishes tasted good. They serve you with a refreshing nanari sherbath as the welcome drink, which energises the body and makes it palatable for the grand cuisine. Recently visited THENNAGAM restaurant in nungambakkam, a great place for food lovers.
its a new place with a very pleasing ambience ,an old independent house turned into a beautiful restaurant , the service provider was good and neat.
i was welcomed with a fresh nannari shaarbath with badam which was free😋. the menu had so many options .i started with crispy fish finger(Rs.175), prawn pepper thokku-Rs.190 ( it was spicy and had the rich south indian ingredients)and mutton briyani - Rs.180 ( 😍 my all time favorite,it was so yummy. the rice and mutton*was cooked welll and the flavours were perfect.
the place is very pocket friendly.i really enjoyed my lunch.😊 👍
Good customer service by "SADHAM HUSSAIN" and pleased to try variety of savours. People are very friendly to customers and thennagam has way to go high on skies. They are nothing without the workers there. It has a South Indian authentic touch on every dish.
