The cakes are stellar, as they always have been. I especially love to get different varieties of their mini pre-packed cakes to snack on; which are always soft and fresh and delicious.
Another favourite of mine is their cookies. There are days one which I have cravings for the sumptious chocolate chip cookies that they make.
They also have an assortment of sandwiches and fresh cream cakes, and will bake cakes with special designs for any birthday/celebration. Their prices are reasonable, and the store is a cute little place to acquire some eats while having a pleasant chat with the owner and his wife.
It's situated in the silent streets of CIT colony. I remember this place when I once had thier Puff and Cakes during my childhood. Somehow located it through Facebook and reached there to have their Puff once again. It had the same taste even after so many years and they are the best to make them in the city. Very lately visited and came to my knowledge that they have stopped puff for sometime due to some issue with labor. Hopefully they start again and would love to have it.
Whenever we are conscious about health and budget, This is where me and my friends head to during our college breaks!!! The cookies, the sandwiches and the pastries you get here are just so fresh!!! They are healthy as they are all home made and simple!!! The ambience is also simple and pretty!!!

Located in the quiet CIT colony - they offer a delectable range of baked goods. last birthday, mum couldn't bake for my birthday, so ordered a eggless black forest cake from here, no unwanted additives, perfect home made feel and it was delicious.
Everytime we crave junk food, we just walk down the road and pick from the freshly baked batch - the savouries are mildly flavored and you will push in a few more than the usual quota and still feel good :P

This "cafe-like" place is like really really close to my house. So, I generally take quick trips to buy brownies and savouries. Jeez. The Mississippi Mud Cake. It is heaven. Like legit. And the Banana Walnut Cakes. Speechless. I mean, for such a low cost, you can actually have a nice snack.

Padmashri Foods is tucked in a small lane in CIT Colony, Mylapore. CIT colony has a see saw of lanes and it may be difficult to find the place but maps should definitely aid the process and make your work easier. It is located in the basement of an apartment. They specialise in a bunch of assorted short eats ranging from variants of cakes, short eats in the form of mini pizza's, puffs and sandwiches and a whole lot of cookies and home made chocolates.
It was a rainy evening and I was craving for some munchies when I remembered this place and decided to get some shorteats from here. Ordered the following stuff - 2 Mini veg Pizza's, veg puff, Swedish Tosca, Cashewnut Brownie, Banana Walnut Muffin, Mississippi Mudpie and an Irish Coffee cake and all of them together costed a shade under 200 bucks.
Make no mistake, all of them tasted really great and score high on the value for money factor. Special thumbs up especially to the Tosca and the mudpie which were ever so mouthwatering. Am personally delighted to have found this little hidden gem. I am surely frequenting this outlet more often to have a repeat of some of what I had and also to savour some of their other cravings they have on offer. Highly recommend for some enjoyable evening quick bites.
Padmashri foods are the best cakes and confectioners in chennai. Their Chocolate truffles , Banana walnut cake , Irish coffee cake , mini pizzas, capsicum onion sandwich , samosas , puffs(the best) and kathi roll are yummy in the tummy. ππ
Back in 2005 - 2006 friend used to bring their cakes regularly to office. On seeing Vinushya 's post recently I had a craving for their eggless cakes. Had some work in mylapore, so decided to drop by. Located in the basement of an apartment in CIT colony, this place is very clean and neat. Very friendly, polite staff wait patiently, while we r confused on what to take n what to leave. I prefer their cream less cakes over the creamed ones. The tosca cake is simply yumm. And that too when u buy it in kgs u get to taste it with the caramel sauce. I like their missisippi mud cake and honey cake. Brownies are so so. Prices are damn cheap. The cream cakes are a bit dry in my opinion. Out of the lot the chocolate truffle is average. Prices are damn cheap. U get a palm sized slice for 20 bucks which is absolute VFM.

When I was looking for a quick dessert at Mylapore with friend, Padmashri Foods popped in Zomato as the nearest bakery. It's small bakery cum boutique located on basement of apartment building on CIT Colony.
This Bakery was managed by couple for more than 15 years on the same location. They specializes in Cream-less cakes along with usual cakes, puffs, rolls, cookies, etc..
Cream-less cakes caught my attention, they have displayed more than 10 varieties(small pieces) of them.
Ordered small pieces of Tosca, Fudge Brownie &Β Mississippi Mud Cake. Each of them were unique & very tastier. I loved all of them. Small ones costs just Rs.20 & one KG costs 400-500. I would say it's very cheap for the quality & taste.
Definitely recommended for Cream-less/Dry cake lovers for very affordable price.
Chocolate truffle... Lip-smacking! I have been a customer for the past 4 years ( and more to come, ofcourse!) and their cakes, kati rolls are just too good! The taste lingers...
Moreover, the quaint little place exudes a certain warmth and calmness which is pleasing.. Is it the waft of lovely baking aroma that fills you in or just the cheerful owners of this place..? Well thats upto you to decide.. either ways their food is something i would definitely vouch for.. ??

It's hard to choose from their range of desserts but would specially recommend the mini cake bars (tosca, brownies, apple raisin). The cupcakes seem to sell out fast so make sure to get them when available. Kaati rolls and sandwiches are tasty and make great snack options. Overall great value for money and superb quality!
Clean, hygienic ambience, friendly service, quality of material used and professional approach has earned them a good name. Eggless cake I bought for my 60th birthday was lip smacking. Kudos to Padma and Srini for maintaining the quality over years.

Padmashri Foods- Sheer passion for baking
Located in interiors of CIT colony, the small bakery cum boutique run by a couple produces an exclusive collection of eggless cakes and cookies which are quiet hard to find anywhere in Chennai. Entering the apartment,I am welcomed with the smell of chocolate, brownies and tossing up of wheat lingering in the air. The place is really really small covered with some modern art paintings and wall hangings. One corner of the shop is engaged in selling hand made bangles, chains etc while the other end is fully devoted to baking.
Padmashri foods mainly specialises in fresh cream and creamless cakes, prices ranging from 250- 400 per kg. Naturally anyone might wonder how can a cake without cream taste and how can someone be expert in that. I was proven wrong, the place bakes the best of complicated dry cakes variety consisting of Tusca ( Swedish tea cake), Apple raisin cake, banana walnut cake, mississipi mud cake ( hope I have spelt it right),and honey cake.Though creamless cakes are dry in texture, the chocolate crust along with perfect blend of flour with sugar compensates for the cream component. Choosing my favourite seemed to be the toughest of tasks as all were baked to perfection but without doubt Mississipi mud cake, generous dose of chocolate with a small quantum of sugar proved to be the winner.
Among the Cream cakes the Irish coffee, Kiwi & Chocolate Truffle are worth a deal. To end the sweet tooth craving Padmashri also offers some spice dishes such as Katti rolls, mini pizza, puffs and sandwiches which are nominally priced.
Overall a must visit to experience the true bakers atmosphere and to encourage a noble vision for baking .
