The food quantity was not much impressive but the quality was soooooo good the meat was soo fresh and very 👌🔥 tasty 😋 to eat 🐟 65 really nice and overall good little costlier 🤑
Good place to have non veg food with Tamil specialities. We ordered crab but was told it's not available. But fish curry and prawns we had were great.Needs huge improvement in service.
I am a fan of this place, tried non veg meals and chicken biriyani. Meals was excellent. I have never tried anywhere this much quality rice, its excellent. Other chettinad cuisines were excellent.
Anjappar is a brand that is globally well-known right now. Visited their Adyar outlet .Authentic Chettinad Cuisine.Loved the biryani .It was spicy and fiery ,with a perfectly made raita as accompaniment to cool things down.
Also tried thier signature chicken 65.Very crispy coating and the chicken was tender. The sauce was sweet and spicy.
We been here with my family members... Its typical South Indian food we had... Nice staff and friendly atmosphere.. Quiet hard to park the car in busy time
Best place to have non veg country taste food!! You get all the curries at excellent taste here. Also you get pretty good taste in veg taste too! So if anyone of your family member is vegetarian, he/she won't come out unsatisfied. Peace ✌️
My mind was blown by the food I had here. We ordered one mutton biryani, chicken biryani, chicken 65 and one fish dry. Every dish was amazing. Both the biryanis tasted well. And chicken 65 was upto the mark. Crispy from the outside and juicy from the inside. Even the fish dry was very well cooked with less oil. Quantity and quality was excellent price wise. If you visit Chennai do try this place out. You won't be disappointed!

The service and ambiance is very good........ Parotta and mutton paya was a deadly combination (must try)...... The presentation of food was very authentic and traditional...gives us the feeling of home food
Great Ambience... Had tandoori grill😍.. Both was good.. Not much spicy..
Had biriyani.. They use basmati rice.. Average only.
Their service was excellent.. 😍
Grab lollypop must try
Much needed non vegetarian restaurant in adyar. Good south Indian food and good service. Ceylon parotta will always be my favourite at their place. I also like their sweet corn soup. Nothing more special with themes or ambience but there’s no doubt about the taste of the good food. The right spot for a starving stomach.
We went for lunch. My brother ordered one Chicken Briyani and I ordered one Veg Meals for myself. The Briyani was really great and well cooked. The meals was unlimited and I liked it as there were so many things to eat. Overall a happy experience as I was really satisfied with both the ambience and service.
We visited this place on our way from Chennai airport to Pondicherry. The ambience was really nice and waiters were friendly enough . We were given welcome drinks in cute little glasses. We ordered chicken fried rice, mushroom fried rice, chicken biriyani, garlic chicken gravy and orange, sweet lime and watermelon juices . The juices were customized to our needs. I found all the items delicious except the biriyani (which is due to my soft corner for kolkata biriyani.) The service was prompt . I would like to come back here and try other dishes.
The day i have come to Chennai there has been maximum times i visited this place for my meals. Love the food and the people. Always hasd a smike on their face. The welcome drink and mouth freshner in the end... Was just #Yumzaa
I would come to this place again everytime visit Chennai.
Anjappar.. A place dedicated for spicy foods. Prawn biriyani was my favorite. I will look at the menu all the time I go, just to order the side dish. Main course will always be Prawn biriyani. But costly for a weekly lunch. 800 Rs for 2 people

Would visit here if i return by that way to office. Good atmosphere and good food.Service is always good. Parking will not be available for cars during peak hours and lunch time.
Typical south indian non veg varieties served. Must try crab fry. Their list of specials is definitely exciting especially the prawns fry and naatukozhi.
When speaking of Anjappar, I would personally rate their chicken/mutton Dosas and chicken gravies to be their speciality. The service is good as well. Although their Biryani is sought after, it only rates secondary, as I find it a bit dry and bland.
I have tried their Naatukozhi masala (Desi murgh gravy) and pepper chicken gravy. Both can never fail your taste buds!
Anjappar here has got the best ambience and their service is also excellent. A definite treat for one who loves eating non veg. But also equal amount of choice available for veggies
Personal Favourites
Veg : pudhina kulcha, kashmiri pulav, paneer tikka masala
Non veg : Sura puttu, naatu kozhi or country chicken / Mutton biryani, vanjaram fish fry (suggested by my friend)
Dessert : The never disappointing Falooda
Good place to have authentic South Indian non veg delicacies. I came here on a fine evening after work.
They first serve you welcome drink in a small cup. I had ordered Mutton kola urandai, chicken biryani, Ceylon egg parota and fish fry.
It was my first time experience of having kola urandai and I was disappointed. I expected to be something like a cutlet.
Biryani was just fine. Long rice, not so spicy, big piece of chicken, thick raita and gravy.
Ceylon parota is something that stole the show. Soft and crisp parota from top and egg filled inside.
Fish fry was average. My experience with fish in Buhari was better.

one of the best and craziest place ive known from childhood for non veg food and it sounds like they r open forever fr many years serving great food with lots f non veg varieties
Most unexpected visit to this dine.
Food- Chicken Biryani: Biryani was well smoked with chettinad spices, perfectly cooked well seperated rice, chicken was tender and full of flavours. The side servings were good enough to add a charm.
Tomato shorba: Tangy tomato gravy with crutons.

I visited this place with my husband in the afternoon. He had a 'full meal platter' where they served him a lot of vegetarian staples with unlimited rice. Alongside he ordered a Chicken 65 to satiate his non vegetarian cravings. I had the Anjappar special Chicken curry. It was lovely. I really love kal dosas, but they do not serve those at noon. So I was a tad disappointed. Ditto with the appams. The food was lovely. But I suggest visiting in the evenings. That way you will get to savour a wider variety.
Have been here with family quite a few times. The food tastes good. And the quantity is right for the price. A total family restaurant serving good quality food.
They welcome you with amazing shots of grape, pineapples and variety of juices ! They come in shot glasses. Tried chicken briyani, which is same as the other branches ! Anjappar Spl chicken masala was spicy and too good.Overall rating 4/5ambience 3.5/5food 4/5service 3.5/5
Visited here multiple times. No compromise for the taste every single time.
We ordered fish biryani, pepper chicken, prawn egg masala, chicken 65 biryani and rotis. Everything tasted damn good and the service was also quick.
Had the food delivered home. Items wee chicken biryani and Paneer tikka. Panner tikka was excellent since the panner was marinated well and was soft. Biryani was the usual nothing extraordinary.
Good food, a little bit oily but tasty. Enjoyed the non veg platter, hot fresh whole wheat phulkas, with excellent non veg dishes, falooda was tasty, cost reasonable, service was good
I had been to an Anjappar outlet (don't remember where) some 2 years ago and I had stayed away from them ever since. But visited this place with my friends, 10 of them, a few days back.
Had non-veg meals and lots of side dishes. None of them deserve a special mention except `sura puttu` a delicacy that was available on that day alone. The quantity of any side dishes (esp. sea food) that you buy is very less. I feel their famous Chettinad meals also lost it's punch.
Food Quality: 3.5/5Food Quantity: 3/5Service: 3.5/5Ambience: 3.5/5Cost:3/5
All in all, I would visit the place only if I don't have any another option nearby.
Had Mutton biriyani, Fish tikka, Chicken 65 and lemon soda. Everything was just above average for the price of 800. The mutton pieces could be better and the biriyani went well with the chicken chettinad gravy which was given as side dish. Fish tikka was a bit sweeter and Chicken 65 could be even better. I had tried Nethili fry here earlier which was better but was unfortunately out of stock yesterday. :-(
I was so pleased with the ambiance of the restaurant. Spacious seating and so much of cleanliness. Welcome drink was served. Ordered typical Chettinad chicken biriyani. Authentic taste I should say! But the quantity is less fit what we pay. Overall satisfied. Will look forward to dine in.
ave been here couple of times and njyed each time.
For meat lovers it a place you must go!!

Tables too close, service not great.. Food good.. Ok, my family liked it as they were having meal for the first time.. I thought could have been better.. We ordered a veg and a popular non-veg meal. I think better option would have been regular non veg with some side dish.. Don't think would be too keen to return to this specific restaurant anytime soon..
A good chettinaad restaurant. This branch dont serve meals, that why 3.5.
The place is a good sit out and their live bar beque in the evening is super with good portion size too. Biryani and everything in the menu is decent. If you are looking for a chettinaad cuisine, dont look further. It is a feel good place, light on pocket with good food.
Thanks

Anjappar has been in my wife's wishlist for a long time, while it has been on my not-to-go list forever. But then you know who wins. My mind was set on Bombay Brasserie, but not this time. I will have to wait for some more time for that.
Having been to so many Chettinad restaurants right from my young age, Anjappar never caught my imagination. There is nothing that sets this place apart and it is yet another Chettinad restaurant. Anyways, after shopping we went to this place recently. It is situated right next to Eagly Boyz Pizza and opposite to Reliance Trends.
From outside it looks nice, a you climb a flight of stairs to reach the restaurant. A huge guy dressed up like the "Statue Guy" in VGP Golden beach welcomes cordially with a Vanakkam and opens the door. The moment I stepped in a strong stench of non-veg hit my nostrils and was put-off immediately. Make no mistake, having married a girl who is a hardcore non-veg I go to various restaurants with her. I have not found this unpleasant smell in other Chettinad restaurants. I lost my appetite straight away.
I ordered a ghee dosa and mushroom chilli. Wife ordered a mutton biriyani and prawn fry. Ghee dosa was awesome, HSB charges double the amount. Mushroom chilli was quite alright, expected it to have tiny piece ensconced in a huge cocoon of batter. But surprised to see that the pieces were large enough. Wife liked the biriyani but somehow the prawn did not live up to her expectations. The masala specifically tasted burnt according to her.
Well known for Non veg food. You will find south indian Non veg dishes which are fabulous. Prices are on a higher side. Good ambience and a place to hang out with family.
Anjappar is known only for it's chettinad. I should have thought about it before ordering the mutton briyani. I went here with my family and we all ordered different kinds of dishes. So I got to taste everything. The fish finger was the one dish I loved the most. The chicken lollipop was okay. Very much regretted the mutton briyani that I ordered. Others in my family ordered all other chettinad items and they enjoyed it well. The mutton brain varuval, mutton masala and the chicken chettinad are very much recommendable.
The kitchen built with the see thru glass windows is good to know that they are maintaining the place, especially the kitchen well and aren't afraid to show it to the public. The dining area is clean as well. The service was good and really quick. I feel like the price is okay for the main dishes but the side dishes seem to be a tad costly.
If you are ever visiting this place, I would recommend you to stick with the chettinad items.
Anjapar -as always been my second home since when the Besant nagar branch was opened .this was one of first restaurant liked and preferred by my family and we go there regularly almost two or thrice in a month and when that branch was closed due to some reasons we were hopeless this happened in 2013 and right after four months the Adyar branch was opened the taste differed a lot in the beginning and I thought It will became the same after few months And it did happened this place is right for good South Indian dishes especially chettinad .
But now am sharing my experience of last visit -I had mutton biriyani , fish finger , chicken lollipop , strawberry milkshake .
All tasted very average , i doubt they changed their head chef
Biriyani was very average with less quantity , chicken lollipop was extremely crispy ,fish finger was okay okay . I used to love their fish finger before .
So I would say if your really hungry when your somewhere around Adyar or Besant nagar and craving for chettinad food , can try out here ! But the taste and standard had a changed a lot .

Name : Anjappar
Location : Adayar
Cuisine : South Indian
Service : top notch
Ambience : Ok'ish
I have a resistance towards restaurants who turn out to be franchises,My mind is incepted with the thought that once they grow their wings their quality plunges towards enigma, and fair to say that it's a
Proven agenda the initial burst always dies down , be it Buhari or Saravana Bhavan
Anjappar Adayar to me was a oasis in the desert of uncertainty,
Pros : Service was courteous and prompt, was it because of the less numbers of patronage ? Never mind !! It was good, and when you see a waiter with a genuine smile and doesn't look a tad artificial and being genuine that to me is another oasis in desert, We hardly find people who are passionate in what they do when it comes to waiting tables. food was tasty, the thala curry was flavourful, Karimeen was good yet don't know the idea of why they serve freedom fries with those ?? Desserts were great too except the kulfi was like a rock ... Tasted decent.
Cons: The Kada Biriyani was good not bad at all , yet I sense that it's just kuska mixed to a masala Quail, the portion size is how ever the question for me, 1 piece of Nalli in a paya which is 200₹ sure can't be justified to me, I'd win your conversation 100/100 times.
Overall : fabulous service / Great food
Verdict : delicious food but ain't enough for my tummy.
Really like the place for the authentic taste.
Non-Veg taste particularly Briyani and mutton chukka were awesome.
Place to go and taste the wide variety of food.
Loved the service but the ambience is a little sick . the place is air conditioned but still a Lil dumped . the food is class , no doubt they serve awesome chettinad dishes I would recommend briyani , meals and south Indian gravies. They do take a lot of time to serve the food but with their welcome drink we are not left bored
We have tried Chicken 65 biriyani as they said this one is their signature item.
Taste was good but not like signature item.
There are 5-6 pieces of fried chicken inside rice bowl. Quantity is enough for one person.
Price-265 which seems bit higher
Tried both dine in and take away. The quality of food was really good. Chicken biryani, mutton biryani, Fish Biryani, Vanjaram Fish fry, chicken grill, Lime juice, Roti, Chicken Tikka masala etc. Everything was good. The staffs were well behaved and the place was neat and clean. There is ample parking space, the restaurant is in the first floor.
The food is tasty here but bit pricer side. Kindly Don't order icecream here that's too costly for a scoop of vanilla ice-cream they charged ₹ 100.Porotta is not large but a single piece costs ₹ 30. And you might have to wait for sometime. Other than that the food, ambiance and the service is good.
Chicken biryani and paneer butter masala was good. Liked the food and service. Thanks
What did I order?
Paneer Pulao
Prawn Fried Rice
Chicken Fried Rice
Prawn Biryani
Crab Lollipop
Each rice was completely different with regards to its taste. I liked the Prawn Fried Rice in particular as it tasted real good. Chicken rice was good as well but not as much as prawns.
Paneer Pulao was awesome.
Crab Lollipop shouldn’t be missed. Though it had only 4 pieces, it tasted divine.
It cost little over ₹1000 for all the above menu and we, the family of 4 were fully contended.
i been to anjappar for many years and the taste remains same. i love the mutton nenjelumbu soup, biriyani, sapadu, lollipop chicken and many more. they are pioneer in the Chettinad cusine.
Chicken 65 Biryani held up to the expectations. Veg Biryani was mid . The starters were tender and tpo notch . Price was okay to the quantity they provide . Overall a good experience
I had a very pleasant experience. The foods I ordered were adequate portion size and well prepared. The chettinad items were great but items like "paneer tikka" had too much tartness, maybe an effect of some local flavor addition. Pictures show a self designed plate with tikka-pulao-anjappa special chicken curry (9/10), list of branch locations, paneer tikka (5/10), mouth fresher box, cashew pulao (9/10), View from outside.
One of best friend recommended to taste it's restaurants special parota Kothu parota, so we tried both egg n chicken kothu parota. I preferred chicken kothu parota over the egg and it's very tasty 😋😋 n delicious 🤤
I Had a feisty non-veg lunch with my friend. chicken Biryani was good and apt in terms of qty. Nonveg side dishes were excellent. Chettinadd style of preparation was awesome. quite a busy place. A worth place with clean premise and washrooms. They got a good parking premise opposite to the restaurant. They displayed a variety of nonveg dishes.
Last time going to anjappar restaurant Adyar I am order mutton seeraga Samba biriyani really very tasty 😋 very like me and finally order dessert ilaneer payasam in preparing order taken Raman really good and I am listening to all songs in restaurant all songs very good 1time visit the restaurant good hambition..
