My go to place for just chilling, as it is on the main road, easy to find by anyone and well a nice place to be at with good music good service and great food. Their Chinese and starters are particularly delicious along with the chocolate desert which is to die for.
The port cafe has been in our list for quite sometime now. I am writing this review after few weeks of visiting this place.
I picked up a deal in the little app which was quite a value for money.
We started off with a Lemon mint cooler and a watermelon mojito. The lemon mint cooler was quite refreshing given the sultry weather. The watermelon mojito was a bit of a let down. But these were the only 2 options that we could order from the menu basis the deal.
Next for starters, I ordered chili chicken. It was tasty but one problem. They had used the side pieces which turned out to be hard. Otherwise, the spices were of the right proportion.
For main-course, we ordered the Veg schezwan noodles and chicken Singapore noodles. The Veg schezwan noodles were good but the Singapore noodles could have been better.
I must add that given that we had bought a deal which was 40% lesser than mrp, the quantity served for 2 was quite a filling.
In terms of ambience, there is an outdoor and indoor seating. I think the outdoor seating is better in the evenings. Given that we were there for dinner, it was quite dark. Surprising for a Sunday evening, there was no one at the outdoor seating.
In terms of concept, I would give 4/5.
Ambience- 3.5/5
Value for money- 4/5
Food- 3.5/5
Port Cafe is situated on the busy Arcot road but since it is little inside from the road so the place is quiet and peaceful.
Ambience : Port Cafe has two sitting arrangements....One outside (non ac) and Second is Indoor (ac)
Either one of them can be used depending upon the weather :)
Verdict - 3/5
Food : We have purchased the coupons from little app so the options were limited.
Ordered -
1)Roasted potato caramelized onion and mushroom burger -
Awesome taste! . Little spicy. Fresh and creamy (4.5/5)
2) Indiana Burger -
Ok in taste. Very cheesy and creamy. (3.5/5)
3) Drinks - Tried different varieties - Citrus punch , Mochanana & Magic apple.
All were good in taste - (4/5)
Staff : Very friendly. (4/5)
So overall the experience was quite good as it was complete paisa wasool and good value for money. Indoor ambience can be improved little more. The menu is pocket friendly but using little app / nearbuy etc should be preferred :)
Final verdict - 4/5.
With coupon bought from little app, tried Indiana Burger and mojito. This would be the best burger I ever had surpassing the taste of McD. The mojito drink, though delayed tasted damn good and with mint added to it, made the wait worth it.
Port Cafe , went here on a sunny afternoon. My reservation was made through the Dineout app with 25% discount.
AMBIENCE : 5/5
----------------------------
They have an outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoor is themed as a port and the indoor is themed as a ship. The overall ambience was impressive.
SERVICE : 4.5/5
---------------------------
Right from having you seated to handing over the bill. The service was good.
FOOD :
-----------
DOUBLE SALSA NACHOS : 5/5
This is a must try one. Probably the best nachos I've ever had.
Those crunchy pineapple pieces steals the show.
LEMON ICED TEA : 5/5
Perfect large portion of lemon ice tea.
RED ALERT CHICKEN SALAD : 5/5
Salad with spicy chicken. Pepper adds more spiciness to the salad.
V.F.M : 5/5
------------------
I paid less than a 350 bucks for all those food. I would seriously recommend this place to anyone.
Affordable place with great burgers and desserts and the corn nuggets were yumm! I had the Indiana paneer burger and the adorable devil for dessert, loved it!
The "Port Themed" Restaurant which was quiet goood.
Pretty impressive stuff!!!
Outdoor area quiet amazing.
They have tried sum cool stuffs.
Must have is watermelon mojito its a cooool drink 4 summer.
Refreshing drink it's super addicting that u would wanna order one more ;)
Worth giving a shot!
Happiiii Eatinggggg 😬😍
Ordered the veg combo. It had a starter missing. Also i had asked for noodles but i received rice. Overall the food was decent. Gravy had cauliflower florets. Not very spicy.
Dropped in for a quiet brunch. Food was decent. I liked the blackened chicken skewers. The "indoor" dining ambience doesn't really evoke the port/ship feeling it claims to do. Narrow alleys with a handful of sea/lighthouse/boat picture frames.
Maybe the evenings would be fun, with the outdoor setup.
Food was decent & the place was clean.
My first review on Zomato! I had gone for a longish walk and literally stumbled upon this adorable place... friendly, uber cool and refreshingly original... but what strikes me most is how relaxing the place is and how unlike the traditional Chennai it is on most counts... the outdoor seating, sparse interiors that makes you instantly comfortable, health food options in a rather interesting menu, adjoining a fitness centre..pity they cant serve some chilled draught! But given we just wanted to see the place, we tried only a few things and everything was delicious! I loved the place and will be back for sure! And yes, the place gets 5 stars for coolness quotient..
We were actually searching for places in and around Vadapalani! Then we found this Port Cafe in kodambakaam !
The moment we entered we liked this place ! It is a ship themed restaurant.
Really a good place for college gang.
About the food.
The price is reasonable
And the italian dishes are good but the Chinese dishes were not upto the mark
My personal favourite is nachos.
Visited this place in the afternoon. Tried their recommended main courses. N I loved the hot bbq burger and the watermelon mojito. The mojito was very refreshing. And all their other items tasted pretty decent. But nothing special. Pricing is nominal. And place has a port decor with interesting seating options.
I just went here by Zomato, inside a hot traffic location a calm lovely place, they have two types of ambience one is AC which is designed inside a ship containor another one is outside without AC surround by containors and portyard feel decorations. Apart from ambience the main thing is food ,they doesn't fail in that. I ordered for vegetarian because I don't have idea weather they serve HALAL foods. Food tastes awesome especially the drink I ordered watermelon mojito I just loved it. Over all my review is for ambience and taste.
A reunion of all my best buddies happened here in december end. The spot was almost empty. Tried most of their dishes and they are pretty decent. But most of their burgers taste similar. It is nice spot for a group hang out.
A wonderful place, the ambience is too gud and a totally different setup. I cannot say enough about the food, it was out of the world. We ordered almost all the vegetarian dishes and they were all wonderfully cooked and very delicious. We had enquired for a birthday party at the very last minute and they were so accommodating. A wonderful calm place at the very heart of a busy road. You can never find a restaurant like this. Food was too good and the price is very nominal. Service was excellent given that there was just one boy who served for the twelve of us. I would highly recommend this place.
A decent place to hangout with friends. Evenings are good here at outdoor. Drinks and food are upto the mark. Hospitality is very impressive.
So glad to finally have found a decent restaurant close to home.
The place is themed as a port as the name suggests.
The service was a little sloppy but the food was spot on.
I had the mochana which was the perfect blend of chocolate , coffe and banana.
I also had the italian burger which was absolutely perfectly done and juicy !
Me and my friend also tired the veg momos and the momos were small pockets of heaven !
Loved the place and would he coming back for more !
First thing about this place is its cool ambience ... they've really given something new for the hoggers when it comes to ambience and theme ... Pretty impressive stuff ! And the other part which is appealing was the service which was pretty good ... Finally coming down to food we got ourselves a watermelon mojito which was super good ... it's super addicting that you would wanna order one more ... then went for a fried rice and some garlic chicken both were good ... and then finally got myself a detox which wasnt great to me as I'm not a huge fan of detox drinks ... so overall a cool place ... good food and service ... worth giving it a shot !
Good taste. Worth the money. All the dishes which we have tried tasted good( fried rice, noodles, starters) But only draw back is it doesn't serve Briyani, mutton items.
When you are feeling low and want something nice for dinner and every other restaurant is filled with people. you would like a place under the starry night with cool breeze of the nature and few people around. The port cafe has a different setting which lightens up your mood. As the name suggests it has everything that makes it look like a port.
Food is good, I ordered Chinese unlike my friends who ordered Indian and liked it pretty much. In my opinion they serve Indian pretty good :)
Another thematic food spot which does a decent job. Apart from the 'port' themed space, there's also an a/c dining room. I had an indiana burger which was good. The filling though, was straight out of a roll/foccacia. The exclusivity that burgers offer wasn't there. Smooth pyramid was amazing; it was blueberry and dates pannacota. Dates was drool worthy, blueberry didn't have enough flavor. I had a mochanana to end with. It was mocha frappe with banana. It was just about okay, nothing to talk about at all. A nice place with a huge scope for improvement.
Edit: Chinese is great! 2 cheers to the lunch time, chinese combos. Truly great and VFM.
The Port Cafe was one place I wanted to visit. Though it was just near my locality it took me so many days to visit it. The price was nominal. The place was so nice, that we spent a good half hour just talking there. We had chicken fried rice and chicken manchurian which was aromatic and tasted good. Then 'the burgers' were too good😍😍 for which I will visit again. They really do a wonderful job of running a cafe. The service was prompt and note worthy.
There is an excitement when you visit a themed cafe. First thing that came to mind was the difficulty to spot the place. The setting of the cafe was really good and diferent. They have stuck to the theme of a Port and have shown justice to it. The outdoor space is really fine
We had ordered :
Lemon Ice Tea : Was refreshing.
Classic Chicken Burger : Nothing special in it. The burger did not have any special flavour it.
Spicy Cheese Bell Pepper Sandwitch : Felt like having a spicy pickle in a slice of bread. Did not like it much though.
Watermelon Mojito : Really refreshing again. They have some really good coolers to drink.
The food was average but we can visit that cafe for the ambience and its a fine place for the smokers.
First of all , kudos to have selected this particular location for a café! Being in and around this locality all my life, I know there's absolutely nothing even close to a decent resto or cafe here !
Themed restos propping up everything and a shore themed resto and hence the name "port cafe". I was a bit late in visiting and hence could only check in the indoor seating..
We were a group of 4 and were already stuffed and hence preferred to stop with just the starters and drinks.. The latter being much better than the former!
Veg balls and nachos for starters.. Veg balls were a bit too spicy for my liking and the quantity could be looked into a bit.. Nachos were good compared to the two..
The drinks were really good.. One lemon mint cooler of sorts and a cold coffee.. All of us were literally holding onto the cold coffee not wanting to share..
Next time I'm definitely visiting this place to check their main course!
Rates were average.. Neither too affordable nor too expensive..given the taste I'm sure we won't mind..

Nice place. Service is good. Price is reasonable. Water melon mojito is amazing. Very refreshing. Citrus punch is okay not bad. Detoxifier tastes bad. Chicken wonton is good. Rosemary chicken sandwich is perfect with the right amount of spice. Quantity is perfect as well. Friendly staff. Would visit it for their ambience.
We went today evening we had Chinese menu newly launched by them.. food was excellent we can have all the Chinese menu at the best low rate with high quality equals to star hotels.. excellent effort made by them.. great experience...
It's a garage themed cafe with outdoor seatings too if ya prefer. Got a good selection of drinks. I went for a black coffee and burger. Well done I should say I was not disappointed at all. And the salad, my friend ordered was great as well. Good service,. Didn't take too much time to serve. Place for a good meal and conversations.
This is my first review on zomato and thought these guys deserved it. This place is a gym with a cafe attached, it looks like a garage and its a little hard to locate in kodambakkam. The interior is interesting and there is open seating available as well. On my first visit my friend and I tried their interesting 'healthy juices' namely 'friend of heart' and 'X-ray vision'. Loved them both! The juice wasn't too sweet or overdone and was a perfect balance of all the fruits they added. We had a chicken Hawaiian salad and herb crusted fish. The salad was fresh and really good, the fish was a tad bit oily but definitely tasted good. An overall great food experience for a first time. Guess they want to stick to healthy food options especially with a gym attached...so its a 4.5 for the food and ambience and service! Would be realllly glad if there were more steamed chicken or fish options on the menu and the menu can get some expansion😊
Bottomline:
Totally worth a visit for some clean food and their detox smoothies.I've been here a number of times already and look out for their blackened chicken skewers, they are really good and tasty but the size is compromised which is a little sad.
After plan A failure of eggies, was searching for a food joint near by and Zomato led me to this place. As we entered in, we were surprised by the Ambiance. It was pretty natural and looked unique. At first we went inside the sophisticated AC room which had paintings on walls but we felt suffocated instead. So decided to sit on the outer open environment which felt much better.
Good food, better ambience and backdrop but the best hospitality! The Citrus juice which comes in good quantity was so refreshing to drink during a fire blast from the sun at 3 pm!
I ordered one evening, the non-veg bugger and chicken starters and watermelon juice. Came on time. Was enjoyable. Bugger bun could have been better. Had wel :) cheers :)
Visited this place today wid a few friends . The ambiance was gud as it was a themed restaurant. We ordered double salsa nachos , herb crusted fish, bbq burger, classic burger, Mexican sandwich , schezwan chicken wrap nd watermelon mojito . The fish , nachos nd watermelon mojito were the best . The bbq burger and sandwich were good . The wrap was a disappointment. Overall it was a good place to hangout wid frnds :)
Monday night dinner with my cousin in The port cafe was awesome. As per the name of Fitness positive their food is also fit for our budget. You guys are serving the best quality of food and which is healthy. X-Ray Vision was really nice. Herb Crusted Fish and Italian Chicken burger was phenomenal. For the first time we tried Wrap in wheat it was really great and awesome.
The foods are limited and the price are also comes under our budget and kindly add some more dishes in Chicken and fish it will be more to eat. And i never tried this kind of French fries with wrap or burger.
The environment of Port cafe was really good and you guys have build with containers, tires and carom board for playing.
As already said kindly add Chicken, Fish and Pasta in your menu.
Saturday 's lunch it was and we were looking for some budget friendly places near Forum Mall after a movie. This being one of the few theme restaurants in Chennai, zeroed in on this without much expectations.
Ambience - Since it's a port themed, there are old chairs, containers, tyres and a beautiful wall depiction of a port. Despite all this it looks little untidy and since it was too hot, we decided to dine-in indoor.
Indoor's ambience has nothing much to offer, since it's plain walled and cardboard covered.
Food - Limited menu's under limited budget. We tried in almost all the type's and everything suited to our taste bud in a great way.
Pick of the lot :
Nachos.
Herb Crusted Fish.
Desi Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
Italian Chicken Burger.
Rosemary Chicken, egg & grilled tomato wrap.
Mochanana.
Among the easy to spot location, parking facility, friendly service and arrival of the food on time, the economical bill which was just around 1500 /- for 5 of us was the best thing happened to us.
With good Themed restaurants are nearly in count-of-our-fingers in Chennai, this is just another one which scores better in food than satisfying their theme ... !!!
My 2nd review :
Went in for the 50% offer, so also tried Chinese menu, but most of the items were juts decent. Nothing so great about except the bill which was 1800 for 6 of us after deducting from 3400.
I heard about this cafe on the radio. So my family and I, we decided to check it out. We just wanted to try a few dishes, a quick brunch. The staff were very friendly. The ambience was nice. Living up to its name. Very port like. We ordered
Herb crusted fish - the fish was succulent and so light. The outer coating was good too.
Rosemary grilled chicken with egg and tomato mayo wrap - The flavours were great. Quite filling, the portions.
Detoxifier - A good drink for people who like mint and heavy drinks. It wasn't light, as they added milk to it.
Lemon and mint cooler - Refreshing as ever.
A good experience. Planning to be a regular customer. :)
Port Cafe as the name suggests, is a themed cafe, and has lovely decor with indoor and outdoor seating. It is a little hard to find, but the place is great. They also have an attached gym cum work out space, for various activities. Hence, most of the food on their menu is Healthy and has great nutritional value ! I went here one evening, when I was really hungry, and ordered a Citrus punch, that was a blend of orange, pineapple and vanilla icecream. I was initially hesitant about the combination, but I was proved wrong. The thick shake was tasty, and healthy at the same time. I went on to order their house special cottage cheese burger, that looked and tasted delicious! It came with fries, and the patty was well cooked. It made me feel extremely full, and I was very very satisfied with my meal ! A great place for some healthy food, at reasonable prices, with a lovely ambiance and friendly staff. What more can you ask for ?
One fine day
I and my frnds we out searching for new place for lunch or maybe u could call it breakfast so yeah we wear searching and we decide we shld go to spoonbill but it was too far off so we decided to come to this place we werent so happy when we saw the restaurant it was slightly inside tucked away from the road not an easy place to find
So yeh we reached there the port ambience was gud but u cant stay outdoors during summer .....so we sat inside and the ambience wasnt so great but decent
Coming to the food its complete VFM the food is awesome especially the italian burger and herb crumbfried fish it wass amazinnggg
So people who go here do try these dishes
Herb crumbfried fish
Italian burger/classic chicken burger
Mexican sandwich
And the schzwan roll its slightly spicy but has the right taste 👍👍👍
Dropped in for not so hungry dinner. We ordered Crispy corn nuggets for starters, Caramelised onion-roasted potatoes-mushroom veg burger, chicken bbq hot pepper burger, Mochanana and Lime n Mint cooler.
The veg burger was awesome.
Husby was okay with his chicken burger but fancied mine more.
Mochanana was a good blend of coffee with banana and the lime n Mint cooler too was decent.
The nuggets were okay, though nothing great.
We walked out with two good tries : roasted potatoes- caramelised onions-mushroom veg burger and Mochanana.
Recommended for quick bites and pocket friendly not so crowded yet pretty decent and long conversational outings.
Had been here twice and both the occasions I was completely satisfied. Loved their house special cottage cheese sandwich and lemon iced tea. Highly recommended :)
It's a nice place, a bit difficult to locate though. Foods good. Ambience is great but the port ambience not useful during summers since it's outdoors. Has indoor AC rooms too, but no great ambience there. Should go during nights or winter. Food is very affordable and worth it.
After a dead tiring day I stopped by the port cafe without having any more strength to drive my car coz my day was so tough that I was starving from 5am to 8pm. So I jus drove in n noticed that there wasn't a space to park my car before I could feel exhausted immediately a person with full smile in his face greeted me n said he wud park the cark for me guess he is the person who owns the cafe,it was so kind of him for having taken that initiative.
Ambience is modern n well planned. It felt completely different n gave an quirky experience to sit near a big aluminium lid table and the chairs which had no legs but tyres. It was completely a cool place for young ppl to hang out espl guys.
Coming to service level. The guy who took the order was not initiative n brisk enough to take the orders. He was a big bag of lazy boy with absolute no smile on his space. N the time take for delivering the food was late as well. He was so lazy that he took such a long a time to even give me cutlery to have my food which was placed on my table. Having had the presence of the owners being rite there these guys were not attentive. This is something that they have to correct it for sure
My orders were
Lassi- just as simple as one drinks at home with a mild sourness in it, what pisses me off was I my mug was filled only half..n were did the rest go???????
Crum fried pesto chicken- thin slices of chicken breast marinated with pesto n crum fried served with a simple mayonise. It was the best dish I had for the day.
Nachos- was super yummmmm I completely loved it especially the tiny pieces of sweet pineapple with cream sauce to the nachos to next level. Mmmm it was finger lickingly goods
Schezwan chicken wrap- personally it was the most disastrous dish I had that day. The sauce was no even close to what it said it b "schezwan sauce" the chicken was jus bland it din't absorb the masala at all but on the contrary my aunt loved it where she said "pickle (voorga) chicken wrap was super delicious n yum"
Fairly priced nothing to complain abt the same. Would love to visit them again soon...
Wanted to try eggies restaurant but unfortunately after the long search and burning a lot of fuel we realised the place was closed.😥
After plan A failure, was searching for a food joint near by and zomato led me to this place.
Looked unique and great ambiance! Hats off to that.
Ordered Italian chicken burger and a drink named detoxing.
Meanwhile my veggie frnd ordered his paneer based burger and mojito.
My buger was good and tasty while the drink sucked. The drink was in-between a aurvadic medicine and bad fruit juice. It was a mixture of mint , cucumber, apple and ginger. But fortunately my friend liked it as he was not supposed to drink the mojito as it was acidic.
The veg burger wasn't so great but the veggie guy thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ambiance and service was very good with a good hint of music.
They also gave us a coupon which can be used the next time we head to this place.
I ordered a schezwan chicken wrap and an orange punch. The wrap was spicy and totally worth the money. The punch was tasty but quantity didn't match the price.
Quick delivery.
Will order again.

Having stayed in kodambakkam right from childhood, I always longed for a good cafe. There are few decent places in kodambakkam but we have never had a good cafe. There was a Darts cafe sometime back but they couldn't cash in better.
There comes the saviour as this Port Cafe. They are maintaining it well and provide good food. We have just gone for a coffee and ordered a grill chicken.
Both the chicken and coffee looked good. More than the food, I liked the atmosphere and the place. I have gone afternoon but I feel the cafe in evening should be good.
Nearby, cafe there is a gym which is off international standards with punching bag, etc and found it real good.
Overall, nice place to hangout and boon in Kodambakkam.
It's a nice little cafe tucked away from the main road, but is still easily accessible.
The place is themes after a port/harbour and there's an actual boat in there. The outdoor seating may not be suitable for all days. The tables were basically real tires with large plates acting as the table top. Pretty immersive I must say.
The mozzarella sticks were spot on. The papaya salad was pretty good. The Nacho's were a little heavy though. The drinks were pretty good too. Nothing out of the ordinary.
The place also has a small T-shirt shop in a corner.
Overall, the place is a total vfm deal and I'd definitely visit again.
Visited The Port Cafe for a light dinner and a place to sit and discuss with friends. Was pleasantly surprised by the ambience, which was cool and quiet, resembling a cul-de-sac, even though the cafe is in close proximity to the Arcot Road. Would definitely recommend sitting outdoors rather than the AC room, which pales in comparison. We were the only customers as it was a weekday, which was helpful as the three of us were making quite the ruckus! 😂
Ordered the Herb Crusted Fish, Chili Garlic Chicken and Red Alert Chicken and all three of them were tasty! The bread in the salad could have a bit warmer, as it was a bit chewy though tasting good. The salad itself was put together well, with the just the right amount of ingredients. Herb crusted fish lived up to its reputation, but we felt a tangier dip, rather than the mayo it was served with, would complete the dish. Chili Garlic Chicken was saucy and lip smacking!
Hopefully the next time we visit, we have a lot more time on our hands and get to have a full meal!
After a not-so-heavy meal at Jupiter Exprezz, we decided to drop in at Port Cafe for our desserts craving and evening refreshments. Located on Arcot road, a few meters away from Ashok Nagar signal and bang opposite to Koncept hospital, this place can be easily missed because it looks a lot like a car repair shop at the first glance owing to it's appearance and the name board being a lot higher than usual.
Ambiance: Apt to it's name, the place is port themed. They have an open airy outdoor seating as well as a congested looking indoor seating. Barrels for chairs and tyres for tables at the outdoor, wall art depicting a port..a lot of thinking has gone into the ambiance of the outdoor while the indoor is as simple as it could be. A container converted in a restaurant. Looks congested. And getting staff's attention is a big challenge.
Food: We were there for short eats. The menu is pretty simple and cafe like. Sandwiches, burgers, wraps, salads, hot & cold beverages, desserts etc. We ordered a couple of items.
* Masala tea - Being a masala tea lover, I ordered nothing else but this. Was very disappointed to see a dip-tea coming my way. Needless to say I didn't really enjoy my favorite masala chai.
* Double Salsa Nachos - Crunchy tortilla chips topped with tomato & pineapple salsa with a drizzle of mexican cheesy mayo. Sounds super delicious right? It was. The pineapple salsa was a very nice twist.
* Crispy corn nuggets - The name requires no description. It was crispy and creamy too. But a bit salty for me.
* Brown wall of Port Cafe - Nothing but a fancy name to Brownie with ice-cream. The brownie was heavenly. Soft warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was nothing short of bliss. We loved it so much that we ordered another!
* Adorable Devil - Thin layer of crepe sandwiched with ice-cream, buts and banana. The crepe was undercooked and tasted bad.
Service: Patchy. Since we sat indoors as it was raining and sitting outdoors was out of question, getting attention of the staff was painful. Otherwise, quite friendly staff!
Pricing: Very reasonable. Except for the dip-tea masala chai which was not at all worth 50 bucks.
They also have a fitness centre, a gym, zumba classes and a lot more things happening at the cafe! For fitness freaks, this is your destination for some yummy not-so-expensive food as well as some workout!
Got to know this place thro a friend Sabarish, also a part of this cafe! Not to be biased, I dont find anything negative about this place except for the outdoor seating can have more air coolers or fams around.! Value for money, fast service, ambience, quality & quantity of food - 5/5..a perfect place for a lazy evening with friends..been to this place more than 3 times & offlately they've included Pasta..had white sauce pasta the last time I went there n it was perfect! My fav pick here would be the watermelon mojito drink! Perfect for the summer & their herb fish dish - im a huge fan now!
Reminded me of the days where I frequented the port with my uncle during my early days. For a port Cafe there are shockingly less seas food items on the menu.
Ordered the Italian chicken burger and fish tikka. The burger had a strong taste that's similar to mint chutney. Was positively different but had a lot of tomatoes and another bread patty in the middle to beef up the size of the burger. The taste did delight my senses a bit especially the gooey chicken filling in the middle with hint of capsicum.
The fish tikka was exquisite. It was grilled and extremely good. Though they were a little meagre particularly for my appetite it was filling with the burger altogether.
The best part - no taxes. All components included in price on the menu. It gave me a satisfying burp seeing the bill. I tell you no taxes on the bill will give a psychologically appeal. Additionally I got a discount voucher of 100 for my next visit.
The ambiance was a plus, the menu seems usual but you will find the difference from other outlets. Will surely visit again !
After a heavy lunch, my friends and I decided to crash at a place for a while where we can get some desserts and drinks. That's when we thought about Port Cafe and since it was a cafe we haven't been to yet, we zeroed on our plan and headed to Port Cafe. Given below is my take on Port Cafe, Kodambakkam.
Kodambakkam has a dearth for decent eateries, let alone a cafe and so it was surprising to find Port Cafe in such a locale. Those trying Port Cafe for the first time might find it hard to spot, thanks to it being located in a slight indention from the main road. Though there are boardings up in the main road, it's not easy to spot them either. Fortunately they're marked precisely on maps. They have a decent car parking space.
Ambience is one of their biggest pluses. As the name suggests, it's a port themed cafe. Cargo containers are refurbished converted into indoor seating space with air conditioning. The outdoor seating is a lovely sight with some neatly done wall paintings, oil barrels converted into chairs, fishing boat with accessories and so on to name a few. Though we wanted to sit outside, the climate with its frequent downpours forced us indoors. They also have a training facility for MMA and other similar activities. One of the managing partners took us around to show the place and it looked really good.
The menu we had that day looks like just a fragment from what's shown here in Zomato page. I guess that must've been a temporary menu. Since we weren't hungry, we opted for some finger food/short eats and drinks. We ordered a Nachos, Corn Nuggets, Adorable Devil (Crepe), Brownie with Ice Cream, Masala Tea and Chamomile tea. My order was the Chamomile tea and as it was a tea bag served with hot water, there isn't much to write on it. I also tried a spoonful of Brownie and it was amazing. The Corn Nuggets tasted like every other deep fried munch. Nachos, according to my friends was really good. They also detested the crepe and claimed it to have an uncooked consistency.
Service, whatever we received was good but since we were inside a closed enclosure, getting the staff's attention wasn't easy. When it came to billing, they erroneously left off adding my Chamomile tea to the bill. After pointing it out, they were sweet enough to give us a discount of 10%. Even without it, the prices they've charged looks competitive and for what we had, I felt it to be considerate. I'll definitely be back to try more items from their menu soon.
RATINGS BREAK UP:-
Location:- 3.5/5
Parking:- 3.5/5
Food:- 3.5/5

Ambience:- 4.5/5

I don't write alot of review now a days due time constrain but had to this one. I was here on 27th Feb'16, Saturday eve.
As i entered the cafe i see this fantastic India-Pak Match going on. It's a unique 'Port' like decor, so cool. I absolutely loved the open space area where you can chill for hours.
Drinks: We ordered Brown Velvet Smoothie and Lassi. Brown velvet was yummy with a perfect hint of Chocolate and Chickoo (Sapot) and the Lassi was so creamy, just wow.
Starters: We ordered Blackened Chicken Satay and Crispy Corn Nuggets. Dinesh Amar had the Chicken and he couldn't pause while eating :P and Corn Nuggets were so Heavenly
Main: As we were running late on time we ordered just 1 Main-Course. Grilled Mushroom and Cheese Sandwich on Foccacia bread. I beg you to try this if u are a Sandwich person.
Service was fast and friendly. Menu is good and the best part is the a fair price, you eat so much and pay so less.
Overall we had great time here and I strongly recommend you all to go hang out and chill at 'The Port Cafe' on weekend, week day, any day :D

Interestingly conceptualized this is a garage /port sort of setting cafe. There is a gym inside where one can workout as well. The menu has healthy options of smoothies, sandwiches and other beverages. The food is ok - they would need to really jack up their offerings to sustain business.
This place is a nice simple open air cafe in the middle of nowhere. The menu is limited but carefully designed. The juices were all natural and made of real fruits and veggies which drew my attention. We had two different chicken sandwiches and both had the right amount of spice and meat, good soft bread. The herb spiced fish was okay not that great. All in all a nice place in Chennai which serves good cafe food and drinks.
A place of this sort on the busy road of kodambakkam is a surprise. A quiet place for a good hang out, and they've been able to keep up with the theme of a port. Modestly priced, regular items that are available at a cafe. A good choice for a weekend meet up.

the setup is unique and good - you get a feel that you are actually sitting in a port, with the drums, barrels and small ship setups and all. And the speciality doesn't stop just with the ambience - the food was very good. Has one of the best burgers :) a nice place to hangout overall.
A great place to chill or hang out. It's the perfect package of a classy port-side ambience + extremely courteous staff + good food + pocket friendly. They have a good indoor air conditioned seating as well in addition to their themed, semi-outdoors.
To begin with the food, we had ordered the blackened Chicken skewers for the starters, followed by a caramelised onion, mushrooms and baby corn sandwich with focaccia bread for the main-course. The chicken skewers was very well done with a Caribbean style infusion to it. The dip that came along with this dish was simply brilliant leaving us craving for more of the same.
The sandwich was perfectly grilled with a delicious stuffing of meticulously caramelised onions, mushrooms and baby-corn.
Our meal was accompanied by half a portion of citrus punch, which is a beautifully blended amalgam of orange, pineapple and vanilla ice-cream. This really helped us beat the heat that we had encountered on our travel to this place.
The cost for all this came around Rs.450 approximately. The good thing about this place is that they levy no extra service or any kind of tax on the final bill. The prices quoted on the menu are probably inclusive of them all and hence you know exactly what amount you are going to end up paying.
I would surely visit this place again to try out their burgers and other dishes.
After reading the reviews in Zomato, my husband & I decided to give this place a try.
We went there with our two year old son, who really liked this place. Ample space to run & play, there was a carrom board n a boat, which kept him busy.
Coming to the food, we ordered a double salsa nachos, herb crusted fish, detoxifier.
Double salsa nachos - it was visually appealing but taste wasn't that great. It lacked acidity n heat. Some shredded jalapenos or green chilies would have helped.
Herb crusted fish - the husband liked it a lot, n said it's vfm.
Detoxifier - yummy refreshing drink, loved it. We ordered a full bottle, which was li'l more than 2 glasses. The husband liked it way too much that we ordered one more.
Very good service, warm welcome with a smile, food was served with a smile.
Better to go in the early evening, as it's kinda open space and as it gets darker, the mosquitoes are around.
First, as soon as you enter the place, the amazing ambience provides a visual treat. With a boat in the middle and the tables beautifully painted, it provides an amazing setting to the meal. The staff are very courteous and accommodative of every small small request of yours, be it related to the level of spice or even smaller portions. The food was just out of the world awesome, right from their Heat beater ( which is perfect for the Chennai weather) to the unbelievably soothing Friend of Heart. Their nuggets and Quesadillas are to die for. Their brownie with ice cream provided a perfect finish to the perfect meal. It is a must visit place for all in Chennai
One word for this cafe is WOW. Small cafe but ultimate food.

Go to cafe these days to chill out. Love the lemon iced tea here and the drinks in general. The food is also good, nothing stands out but if I had to choose I'd go with the salads.
The port cafe is the very cool place to hangout with ur friends and by yourself. The theme of the place is very good with all these port containers and the tyre tables.
The food omg it has a very different and a peculiar menu. Each and every item on menu is worth trying and the quantity and quality and the service u get is worth every penny u pay u may think maybe the price is little expensive but guys remember how much quantity we get in fruit shop on grems road being a tiny place all over the city.
Food -excellent quality and quantity
Ambience - first people to use this theme
Service awesome
Best for health shakes and different varieties of shakes and I don't what to say u people need to visit what I'm trying to explain to u all
Walked into this place for dinner, very close to where we live. For some reason (maybe my cold), it took me a couple of minutes for me to figure out why the ambience is the way it is. Sorry.
Anyway, once the light came on in my head, everything else fell into place! ( :
Loved the set up.
Very courteous and prompt waiter.
We chose to sit outdoors and only when the food came did we realise the tables are a tad low. And mosquitoes can be a bit annoying too.
Anyway, we ordered a chicken salad, an Italian chicken burger and an x-ray vision.
The food was good. The juice, brilliant.
Just felt a couple of things were slightly off the 'brilliant' mark when it came to the food.
The salad tasted great and was nice and crunchy. But didn't look it. Looked slightly greasy and lacked the visual draw of greens. I just think it was missing some good 'ol lettuce to brighten the plate up.
The burger was great too. Just think they should lay off the mayo a bit. When you're ordering, ask for less mayo.
Having said all this. I'm surely going back. There are a whole bunch of juices and starters I want to try.
And oh yeah, because it shares board space with a fitness place, I kinda expected the food to be somehow 'healthy'.
Thankfully, they went with 'tasty' instead.

A recommended place to try it at least one time. Fine ambience and smiling service adds the point. Average price menu which is affordable for everyone. Food is tastier. Worth the go.
As usual had the whole place to myself. Located bang on the busy main road but the ambience completely changes once you enter this place. Nicely decorated interiors . asked the waiter for the recommendations and settled with a serving a nachos topped with pineapple and salsa sauce , a sandwich with caramelized onions, baby corn ,mushrooms and the best of the lot, half serving of brown velvet shake. Portions were generous and i was stuffed for the evening .Service was good considering I was the only customer in the place. Pricing was moderate and Food tasted good and was worth the price. Best place to hangout with friends. Totally recommend it.
The place is good for casual evenings. Today we had quesdillas, veg sandwich and desi chicken sandwich along with lemon ice tea. The sandwich were good . Total good experience..All these came around Rs 500..
Couple of months back, the manager of port cafe had sent me a invite to try some of their specialities. Unfortunately I had noticed it in my inbox only recently. So one Sunday afternoon me and my fellow foodie buddies decided to check out the place.
Everyone relied on google maps to reach the place. The maps are misleading a bit, leading you to a small shady road. However the cafe is actually right on the main road, which is often missed by people. The manager had informed me prior that the ambience is better in the evenings as it's an open cafe but getting everyone together seemed easier in the afternoon. I was prepared for the worst heat but fortunately the weather was good and they had done a pretty decent job in covering up the place in a way that the sun wouldn't hit the tables. They even had a small indoor seating area for people who preferred the indoors. Rather than my terrible attempt to explain about their ambience it's best advised for everyone to pay a visit to see what they have done with the place. There's a gym and a cross fitness area in the backside of the cafe as well.
☑️ Iced lemon tea: great and taste and refreshing and very reasonable.
☑️ Mochanana : blend of chocolate, coffee and banana. Definitely a winner.
☑️ Afagato : espresso shot with vanilla ice cream. I loved the fusion however the experts said the ice cream was a bit too frozen.
☑️ Anemic chaser: this was one of the health juices recommended by the manager. As a strict anti fruit person I must say I loved it. It has no over powering fruit taste yet tasted sweet. Highly recommended for everyone watching those calories.
☑️ Watermelon Mojito : as I don't like fruits I couldn't appreciate the taste very well but my friend loved it.
☑️ Heat beater : good and very reasonable drink.
☑️ Corn and cheese nuggets: loved it. Perfectly fried and tasted really good.
☑️Chicken nuggets : it was quite average and personally I loved the corn nuggets over the chicken.
☑️ Cottage cheese salad : served along with garlic bread which was a bit soggy and not as crispy as it should be. Taste wise the salad was good.
☑️ Hawaiian chicken salad : except for the overload of pineapples this salad was okay.
☑️ Red alert chicken salad: loved this one. Had good flavours and well done with a lot of vegetables and well cooked chicken.
☑️ Hot bbq chicken burger : compared to the veg burger the chicken was better. But personally I loved the salads more than the burgers.
☑️ Rosemary chicken wrap: the wraps were all neatly done. With good and sufficient chicken filling.
☑️ Cottage cheese wrap : loved the chicken wrap better.
Prices are definitely very reasonable and the ambience is good if the weather is favourable. This place is definitely recommended for small bites and snacks or a coffee if you're in this area.
A themed restaurant ! Quite spacious! Both outside seater and inside air conditioned seater ! It was one good evening filled with a snack time ! Very reasonable. We got nachos , and sandwiches and a lemon mocktail! Very good wall painting !
Have been here couple of times a good place which serves amazing burgers loved the pesto burger.
The wrap was good but had a home made base to it so would give it a rating of 3/5.
The nachos were also very good wit fresh salsa which i haven't seen much in Chennai.
Oly disappointment was there s no COLD COFFEE like how can u have a cafe wit oly hot coffee...
Ambience s amazing nice to hang out with frnds in the evening
They have a fitness studio behind which s good for the fitness enthusiasts.
I was invited to a foodie meet by a fellow foodie for a lazy sunday afternoon lunch. The cafe is located on the busy Vadapalani- Kodambakkam connecting Arcot road. I was quite bemused that a cafe has opened its doors on this stretch but inclined to agree that the people of this neighbourhood do not have much cafes to choose from. I am sure the owners would have thought about this when they zeroed in on this location.
Having said, the place is extremely difficult to find including some of the landmarks mentioned. The passerbys had not no clue about any of them and it was a herculean task to reach the destination. Surprisingly, Google maps was as confused and lost as I was. Credit that Google got baffled for a change. Despite my best efforts, I arrived late for the meet due to the lack of clarity of the location and also lost a few gallons of petrol in the bargain.
Not a great start to begin with, but when I finally arrived, was quite surprised to see a welcoming guard and considerable parking space. The board outside was too small for the naked eye and I felt I did a great disservice by circling around in the neighbourhood although having crossed the joint so many times. The ambience is quite inviting and some of my fellow foodies had already begun the tasting session.
The place is quite small and the interiors are made out of ship containers although technically it is an outdoor seating space. No prizes for guessing, thus its name. The walls are covered with graffiti and reminded me of my visit to Shoreditch, one of the hip places in London known for their graffiti painted walls. Quite trendy yet cool. Although it was mid afternoon, the weather was not too hot to feel the heat. They also do have a refurbished seating room but it seems quite small, claustrophobic and felt freshly painted.
I admit there were just two vegetarians in the group and this review is strictly a vegetarian's perspective of the food offered. For starters, we were offered the crispy corn nuggets and double salsa nachos. The crispy corn nuggets true to the menu was cooked to perfection. It was crisp, mildly spiced, cheesy and with plenty of corn true to its name. The double salsa nachos was very good. The pineapple bits and the sauce offered a unique twist to the nachos. Boy, I have to admit I liked the marriage between the pineapple and tomato based salsa and it fascinated me to try it at home too. The taste was lingering long after I left the place too.
There were plenty of juices, mocktails, coffees on offer and we certainly tried quite a few including the anaemic chaser, x-ray vision, stay cool, citrus punch and the affogato. There were few others which I guess was sampled before I arrived. I don't wish to state what each of them contained as the owners have mentioned very clearly in their menu. Very self explanatory indeed. I particularly liked the cantaloupe based stay cool and the citrus punch. Cantaloupe is a rarity in Chennai and I was quite amazed to hear that we do get these fruits in the corner shops. The citrus punch was well made with orange, pineapple and a dash of vanilla. It complimented each other well.
The salad on offer was the spicy cottage cheese and cucumber in remoulade dressing. For those who came in late, remoulade is predominantly mayonnaise based but in this case it was garlic tomato based. I wish to mention that cottage cheese is not paneer although they have lots of similarities. The cottage cheese is curd based just as ricotta and mascarpone who are its distant cousins in the west.
The main course included the rosemary infused grilled vegetable sandwiches, fiery cottage cheese wraps and the curried cottage cheese sandwiches. To be very honest, I was not impressed with any of them. The wraps are made out of phulka type Indian bread which I felt could be made better at home. The grilled vegetables have become a routine fare in most of the bistros and cafes popping up at every corner in the city. The paneer in its various forms was something I felt stretching a bit. The breads were not focaccia as suggested but normal pav-bhaji styled Indian ones possibly due to the non availability of them on that day. The focaccias are known to be quite flavourful, olive oil infused and with plenty of herbs and some vegetables atop it. All of it was missing. I admit I was a tad disappointed.
The owner was courteous and to her defence, I was informed she asked for our options but we stuck to her choices. So we didn't try many. I was informed she is a popular fitness trainer and they have an adjoining Gym in their premises. That definitely partly reflects on the food too. Overall, great pricing plan, perfect for those selfie moments, good starters and drinks to begin with, great hangout for those college kids and for those seeking fitness as their mantra. However, I hate to say it but their main course is not as creative as their appetisers and more attention needed on that front.
Taste : 3.5/5 ; Ambiance : 4/5 ; Service : 3.5/5 ; VFM : 3.5/5
The PortCafe came into my wish list from the moment i learned about this place through Zomato Listings....last week Learned from Soumya Abraham that They are hosting a foodie meet for Zomato foodies...Accepted at once as i did not want to miss this chance...So a meet was planned at 1:30pm on 10th Jan...
This Cafe is a bit hard to find as it is located off the main road in a small lane...A banner on the Road will do them a lot of good...Its located in a Lane opposite to Koncept hospital which located in kodambakkam road...which would about 300mts from the vadapalani signal...They have exclusive parking...more than sufficient for the place....
The Ambiance is the one to watch out for...the whole place has been done using large metal Containers...Filled with plants which is pleasant to look at too...They have and Open Dining area to seat around 30 Odd ppl...With some unique furniture made using tyres and bins...The place is breezy..They have a A/C dining area too...which actually i forgot to check...The management also has a seperate Gym, MMA and Zumba area next door...
For the detailed review of each items look at the pics...
The Food was a Mixed Bag....Varying from Excellent to Average...Started with the Shakes and Chillers....These were the best items served on that day...Tried a variety of drinks of which i personally i liked everything...Bites like Nuggets were served of which the veg(Corn and Cheese) won hands down...Nachos were then served...were good...crispy and presented well...Salads were next to be served...2 Chicken and 1 veg... all were good...Except that the base items in the salads like paneer in veg salad and Chicken in Non-Veg Salad were over powered by the other Veggies...they need to reduce that a bit...The sandwiches and wraps were next to be served.....Sandwiches were good but the wraps did not appeal a lot to us...Pretty average Stuff there...
A Very good option for hanging out in this locality..their drinks are to look out for...All other items are worth trying...but overall this place is something you need to visit at least once in chennai...
Okay, so we were invited to The Port Cafe for an on-the-house food tasting session (shoutout to Soumya Abraham for that). The place was known to me as some of my fellow foodies had mentioned it. It is somewhat tricky to locate a place that is just off the main road because google maps leads you to a road that is just wide enough for an auto to pass through. Get to "Koncept Hospital" on Arcot road and the cafe is right opposite it.
The place has a unique set up and ambiance in that it is made from ship containers. Hence, the name. Duh! I really liked the ambiance. Although the outdoor seating has the drawback of not being a nice option during the day time on account of the heat. That said, it was fine for us even though technically it was a hot day. During the evenings it should be a great place to hang out at. Look at the pictures to get more feel of the place.
We started off with a bunch of mocktails and juices. We ordered the following:
= citrus punch - orange,pineapple and vanilla i/c
= heat beater - a sharbat like drink
= mochanana - a fun mix of coffee and banana.
= brown velvette - chikku, dates and cucumber with chocolate i/c.
= affogato - espresso with vanilla ice cream.
= stay cool - cantaloupe and cucumber.
The beverages are priced reasonably and were largely enjoyable. In fact, I cant remember any that was particularly not good. I liked citrus punch the best, but I do like citrus fruits a lot.
We were told that the health juices are a specialty and so we were offered x-ray vision and anemic chaser. They were touted to be best of the lot. I am inclined to agree. If you want to go natural and healthy, this a good way to go about it.
Moving on to the starters now. We had the chicken nuggets and the crispy corn nuggets. Both were really good, but the latter has to be singled out for special praise. Just brilliant. *thumbs up*
Next came the salads - veg salad, hawaiian chicken salad and red alert chicken salad. They were really enjoyable, especially the non veg ones. Couple of issues though. They had too much capsicum in it and even the capsicum lovers agreed with me on this. Plus the garlic bread served with them werent quite as crunchy as one would like. In fact, they were soggy. I do not care personally, but some of you might be miffed. So, fair warning. Pricing is not too bad for any of them though.
Now, as for the mains. We only had the wraps and sandwiches. We had the desi chicken grilled sandwich. It was quite nice even if I had to expend considerable energy in picking out my arch nemesis - capsicum. From the wraps, we had the cottage cheese wrap and the rosemary chicken wrap. The non vegetarian wrap was nice. But the veg one did not quite stand out. The wraps dont necessarily offer great value for money. But all, in all the verdict is "Decent".
There is an adjoint gym/crossfit centre and a zumba dance studio. So in case, you are interested, maybe you can sign up for a workout. Its still not too late for a new year's resolution to get fit. :D
If you are near Kodambakkam, especially in the evening and you want to just relax for a bit in a nice ambiance with some decent food (especially the starters and the drinks), look no further. Chill away.
An amazing place for everyone to spend their amazing time with their amazing ones!!! All I can say about this place, the food and the people behind this is: AMAZING!!!
The Port Cafe has been on my bookmarked list for quite some time. So I pulled Daddy and Mommy along to come with me. Google maps took us through some horrible horrible roadway. And after a gruesome 45 minutes we finally reached.
So they have an AC area as well as a sit out. The weather was good, so we decided to sit outside. Everything was true to its name- totally Port theme. There was a pretty boat decorated with fairy lights. And each wall was painted- hand painted to suite the theme.
We ordered- Nachos, A desi Chicken Sandwich, Italian Chicken Burger, Brown wall of Port Cafe and a Adorable Devil.
The Nachos consisted of nachos, salsa, cheese and Pineapples!! I really thought that that would be a turn off but it wasn't. The Pineapples gave it more flavour !
The Desi Chicken burger was juicy and good. Served with a tiny portion of fries and regular ketchup.
The Italian Chicken burger was juicy, good and had a lot of mayo. It was too big for my mouth but nevertheless tasted good. Also served with a tiny portion of fries.
I had very high hopes for the Brown Wall of Port Cafe. But unfortunately it was just a piece of brownie with Ice cream. It was a huge let down for me. So that's why we ordered the Adorable Devil. And that was amazing! It was a pancake, filled with Bananas and a chocolate sauce on top. This was amazing. And if you're going to Port Cafe- order the Adorable Devil!!
Overall, I would definitely go back. If only they had a better location.
Been there with my buddies on a rainy day. the look justifies the name Port cafe.
The menu looked well organized and promising.. it had THE VARIETY that we are looking for a Typical evening hangout!
Ordered an Espresso ! - could been bit strong but still good .. followed it with
Paneer wrap and a sandwich - First things first ... as soon as the dish arrives we look at the quantity and ITS QUITE GOOD! ( even with the starters ! had 10 pc of Cheesy corn nuggets! amused!) but...... i was in for a let down ... though both wrap and sandwich looked promising it was not HOT! had it been steaming hot then u would have seen me writing simply OMG nothing than that coz to be fair the stuffing was good :)
WAITTTTTT
THE CROWNING TOUCH TO THIS OUTLET IS THAT THEY HAVE A FITNESS CENTER ATTACHED WHICH IS SO DAMN GOOD AND WELL EQUIPPED
THOSE FELLAS REMOVE THE GUILTY CONSCIOUSNESS OUTTA U ! :D :D
VERY GREAT INITIATIVE TO BE APPRECIATED WITH WHOLE HEART !
ONLY concern was the HOTNESS OF THE STUFF which will really make your joint HOT :)
A long over due review.
This place peeked my interest mainly because it was very close to the place I stay. As the name suggests it's a port themed cafe . It is basically a cafe cut out of a container to be precise . We were welcomed by the owner himself . He showed us the way in and explained the menu . It was a late evening and we weren't looking at anything heavy to eat. The seating was appropriate to the the theme but not comfortable . Since we were the only people there we changed almost two tables and still weren't comfortable. It's good has a casual hangout spot .
Coming to the food - everything we had was spot on. We had a bbq chicken burger , desi grilled sandwich and corn nuggets . Mint cooler was exceptionally good. Everything had right flavours and tasted delicious .
The service was good. They knew their menu in and out . Explained everything clearly. Parking is not a problem. But finding this place might be . It's really inside . This cafe is a part of a gym and when your eating you really don't like sweaty people walking through the cafe to reach the parking . It did happen a lot during our visit which was big minus for me . But definitely worth a visit.
Being Port themed, the ambience is excellent. The idea is very different and impressive. They've got seating outdoors and indoors. On a pleasant day it would be a lot of fun to sit outdoors.
We had the double salsa nachos for starters. It was extremely good topped with pineapple, tomato and the best salsa sauces. The house special sandwich was cheesy, yummy and filling. The Indiana burger failed to impress me though. Overall the food was great and the rates were affordable.
The service was excellent. They have a really good and courteous set of people working there.
Definitely worth trying :D And I wish I had taken better pictures..
After a series of reservations, time changes n cancellations @ different restaurants owing to my hibernation mode(didn't eat for 24hrs just slept through it😷), visited Port Cafe last night to grab a few bites.
Ambience: as the name suggests, it's a Port themed cafe which essentially has a seating inside a cut out container n outside seating with unique seating, a rugged boat, net and a wall with murals.
Orders n Verdict:
Coffee:
Espresso: a 35 ml shot, ain't strong enough for espresso lovers!
Americano: okayish black coffee.
Food n other drinks:
Crispy corn nuggets: obviously, no one can get this wrong!
Burgers: a classic chicken and a hot bbq chicken- tasted good.
Sandwiches & wraps:
Grilled veggies, a vegetable n cheese wrap and a desi chicken grilled.
Cold drinks:
A purple doctor( combination of blueberries and banana) and a lemon mint cooler.
Everything was pretty decent but there was a very big drawback. Every single food item was cold! We chose outside seating considering the weather was good n hot food would be a bliss but we were let down :(
In my burger, I asked them to leave out the tomatoes as I am allergic but I found two full tomato slices!!
We had ordered a dessert but our waiter seemed to have forgotten about that completely. We kept waiting n the dessert never came. On enquiring, he just looked at us with a baffled expression n started searching through our order sheet! So we ended up leaving the place without desserts.
Pricing: vfm (I just would love my food be served hot the next time)
Ps: have attached bill for reference.
IMPRESSIVE INNOVATION After those hot and spicy consuming momos, we wanted to try the Port café in Arcot road. Since it's a busy road and once you miss this place, it's harder to reach back. It's exactly in the heart of the power house area, it's little off-road from the main lane next to that power house complex. They got ample space for parking, when I entered I got the reason why it's off road, it's hard to maintain a serene ambiance with arcot road hurry-burry scenes. The place has a bit of open liquor bar look but looking at the improvisation made there, it gives a great beach café feel. The wall painting, boat, oil cans made to seats, container faces fixed as partitions. They also have a Tees shop with fixed prices of Rs 350, Rs 500. Looking around, I also saw workers coming out of a corner closed by curtains, wondering if it's has a kitchen for a café. We sat comfortably and ordered Brown wall of Port Café and Mochanana minus the banana. The Brown wall of Port is nothing but hot brownie with ice cream. The brownie was soft in the bottom and crunchy at the top, just how I would like it. The Mochanana is freshly brewed coffee, chocolate milk with banana. Without the banana, it tasted as a weak cold coffee. The pricing is reasonable and service was pleasing. Will try their dishes next time.
Nice place, interesting seating and ambience. The sandwich was nicely done and they plating had an interesting touch.
New place on the block worth a try !
Stopped by this place last week for dinner . Pretty interesting menu they have with all the health juices , mocktails , wraps , rolls , sandwiches , burgers and some finger food . I had a herd crusted fish and their cigar rolls for starters . My friends ordered multigrain rosemary chicken wrap , cheese corn nuggets and few sandwiches . We were pretty surprised by the taste and the decor of the cafe . Furniture placement is pretty informal and fun , especially in the outdoor area . Finally we had some health juices out of which I really liked this xray vision with carrots and apples . Overall we found this cafe a good hangout spot with friends for its informal decor and menu . Service was pretty quick and friendly and its not too far from away from t.nagar as well . Cheers !
A place where you can hang out with friends. Food is really good and courteous staff.
A niche place with very good options and quality taste. Service is however slow.
That's one fantastic themed resto in the heart of Chennai. Not so expensive. Good for meet outs and some business talks. The place got some age factor, accommodating mostly young folks. Menu is interesting and got some space for smoking, but they don't provide cigarettes.
Someway it is little crowded!! Either the arrangements or little more no of seatings.
Overall, it's a good place to sit n talk.
N yeah, free WiFi 😊👍
Among the easy to spot location, parking facility, friendly service and arrival of the food on time, the economical bill which was just around 1500 /- for 5 of us was the best thing happened to us.
With good Themed restaurants are nearly in count-of-our-fingers in Chennai, this is another one which scores better in food than satisfying their theme ... !!!
Great drinks, decent food and a quirky ambience. Must try place with friends rather than a romantic spot. My favourites are the mochanana , a bowl of salad and the starry open sky above my head...
Good taste. Worth the money. All the dishes which we have tried tasted good( fried rice, noodles, starters) But only draw back is it doesn't serve Briyani, mutton items.
Nice concept of building blocks using port containers. Tasty food with variety of choices. Friendly staffs. Indoor and outdoor sitting arrangement available. However, mosquitoes might be a problem in the evening.
Too good. If you wanna have a short time to spend with the ppl you love this is the best place. Ambiance is good food is too good. The quality is perfect and the service is professional.
A decent place to hangout with friends. Evenings are good here at outdoor. Drinks and food are upto the mark. Hospitality is very impressive.
It was good experience.the food quality was good.but felt like people were less to serve.
My first time experience with port cafe was yesterday.. Awesome place to hang out with friends
Too silent . Food is good there. Next to my gym. 😎 Good place for couples 😂😂
The concept is good. The service is good, improvement can be made. The wait time for food is high
A small heaven within the city...thumbs up for the ambience and the exquisite menu...
Quite a good cafe. The coffee we ordered was nice.
