Couldn’t believe I didn’t know of this gem of a place in Bessy until now. It’s such a quaint and underrated spot to get desserts. The ambience and packaging may not be as flashy as other places these days but the cupcakes are truly worth a try. We got a box of 4 with Lindt chocolate, chocolate salted caramel, butterscotch and red velvet. The prices are also very reasonable. The desserts seem a lot more home baked and fresh than other places in the city that generate more hype. Can’t wait to go back and try some other desserts.
This place at bessy least noticed by us
One day we went had a birthday cake
Vow it was so soft and yummy
We loved it to the core
The chocolate and cream every bit was good
So soft it was
Ordered red velvet cake with cream cheese jar to go. And this was really good.
Red velvet no doubt was finger licking and with the cream cheese it really made the night.

Cafe adoniya
The place to have some delicious ice creams and cupcakes.
There I had some chocolate and red velvet cupcakes and also the traditional rocket goli soda.
The chocolate cupcake was wondrously indulgent with dark chocolate and it was delicious.
The red velvet cupcake was delicious too but I felt like the chocolate one was better than this one.
Coming to my favorite part the rocket goli soda this took me back to my childhood memories and this remember me the same goil soda which I used to had in my childhood.
A must try place place in besant nagar hope you all like this place
My overall experience was good I would like to give 4/5 for this place.

I am totally in love with this place. The cupcakes are to die for.
Do try their red velvet cupcakes as they are so moist and delicious ❤
The interior is very calm and the staff were courteous.
A really chill place... Send like they have added pastas now... The dirty shake was really good... The desserts are the best there...a bit too expensive.
Expected a New York Cheesecake. But what was sent was a small round cheesecake and a chocolate dome cake. The Cheesecake was amazing!
Nice taste. Flexible combo options, good hospitality. We ate
Katti Roll (Chicken) - very good
Tuna Sandwich - pretty good
Veg Sandwich - Good
Cupcakes - dutch chocolate and chocolate red velvet, both were fresh and nice
Cold coffee is really nice
Chocolate milkshake is very nice
The French fries and chicken strips are Ok. Don't assume Ok is bad. It is just not a signature dish here
Murtaza as a chef plus server was very welcoming. I am glad I came here this evening
This place is simply amazing, it's located near the beach. Ambiance vry gud.. the things was staff is vry polite nd friendly beauvoir. Brownie was mouth watering sandwich nd potato fry is too gud..
Ordered a veg combo which had cold cafe French fries and nuggets.
Nuggets was the best part! And the sauce too made it way far better.
The French fries were not so good. Some defect with the oil they used for frying
The cold coffee was worth it. Loaded with a lot of cream. The delivery was good. They charge forty rupees extra!!
I wud say it's a good restaurant for people who love casual dining!
They provide really good and fresh desserts .their red velvet cake is must try and all their desserts are good ,but snacks are okay steaks and sandwiches are pretty average but I would suggest people to go only for those desserts ,red velvet jar, ferro rocher ,missipi mud are literally amazing and also the rainbow cake and cheese cake and cupcakes are okay .the place is small and tend to be crowded in weekends, staff are a really friendly and ambience is good
I had two vouchers of this from Nearbuy, so landed here after dinner to savour some delightful desert. And as per the ratings suggested they did not disappoint.
We had a red velvet with cream cheese & blueberry jar. The sinful & delightful small jars are yummylicious. And well under the budget.
You can have it there or take it with you.
As far as service is concerned, it was good as there is nothing much of a service required.
Totally recommended.

17/07/2018 - Great cake!!! Delicious.. Everyone liked the cake.. Thank you.. This time, the birthday message was good.. Good to know that you work on the feedback..
05/07/2017 - It was a good experience!!! I ordered a Choco truffle half kg visiting their outlet. 700 rupees. No home delivery.. I took the cake myself from the shop when it was ready as expected. Cake was good. Felt price is on higher side nevertheless the cake tasted good.. Birthday message could have been written better..
Adoniya is my happy place.
Ambience : It is a small restaurent in besant nagar 5th avenue. Food is tasty and desserts are yummy !!
They also have board games like ludo, snakes and ladders , scrabble etc.. It's a fun place to visit with friends.
Food : Personal favorites : panneer katti roll, Oreo nutella cheese cake, dirty shake.
Games : Try playing the nonsense game while waiting for food.
Value for money : Too good , worth spending every penny. Last time I visited it costed me 600 for three people
Onky drawback is that the place is really small and can't accomodate more than 15 people at once..Also, there are 2 people handling the entire shop . They play the role of cook and cashier . So service could be delayed sometimes , but food will be worth the wait.
Cafe Adoniya! This is a small place but it has no limits for desserts 💓😍. #cafe_adoniya is mini dessert heaven. Il keep this review short and crisp! We tried the #red_velvet_wit_cream_cheese_cupcake and #blueberry_cheese_cake. #red_velvet The name and the picture says it all i guess, one of the best red velevet cupcakes i have tasted. The moist sponge and the texture of the cream cheese, provided the taste 😍 I'd say a perfect_cupcake 👌.The blueberry_cheesecake - was a sourness sweetness mixture of #blueberry_jam #cream_cheese and #oreo_dust_base .
Cafe Adoniya is no doubt, one of the best place for cakes and pasteries in town. A must add on in ypur foodie hunt. Dont miss it.
#cafe_adoniya ❤
Guys ! If u love ferrero rocher , then without a second thought rush out into this cafe and treat yourself to a ferrero rocher jar ❤️ no where less, comes the red velvet cake jar ❤️ these will make u realise what yummy actually means ! Like actually !!
Ambience : the cafe as such is cute , with amazing wall papers and food quotes ❤️
MUST TRY ! Pls don't miss out on the jars though they have a lot of other things on the menu coz the jars are the hallmark !
Cupcake cravings lead us here !!!
It's located near to superstar pizzas
The place was small but interior was fine !!! But the furniture safe really bad it was shake for each of our move !!!
Our orders were
Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting- I felt the cream cheese was bit hard that usually one !!! Otherwise taste is good
Black current cheese cake - I just loved it !!! It's was like perfect !!!
Total bill was around 200₹
Overall was a good experience
To satisfy a mid week desert craving ordered the red velvet cheesecake and ferro rocher dessert jar! Both were yummy and my dad who's skeptical about fancy desserts love them both! Waiting to try the rest 😁
It's a Small cafe very near to Elliott's beach with a red coloured theme going on. We went during non peak hours so got very quick service. It has a variety of desserts from cup cakes to tiramisu. The ambience had a very youthful look. They also have a few games which you can bring along your kids to play with. Nice hang out place. We tried cold coffee and some snacks - all decent but steeply priced. One small cup cake can cost you around Rs. 120 so high pricing for not so exceptional food was a thumbs down for me. You can give it a try for the ambience.
Cafe Adoniya sells some very interesting , yummy and sinful Desserts at a very affordable price. They have some 20 varieties ,all below 150rs.
We tried the red velvet brownie, it was so dense yet moist. The white chocolate layer was light and complimented the chocolate ganche so well. Single piece was RS.120, and was so big and can be shared by 2 people easily.
In the drink section, we ordered a Strawberry Lemon Tea. Which was a complete failure. Tasted like gelusil.
So overall we had one dessert and a drink, so have given a restricted rating.
They have some board games , so we can easily spend some quality time.
Coming soon back again to try the rest.
After visiting a place with average food, and another joint with a great dessert, while I was thinking of calling it a day, my dessert crazy friend still wanted some more. So we decided to try this bookmarked joint.
It is a small outlet, with the cupcakes welcoming you as soon as you enter. Just a few tables to enjoy the savouries and sweets.
I liked the black, white and red theme, especially the walls. The sofa and cushions seemed to be needing some maintenance though.
What we had:
My friend had to try the Red Velvet cupcake. The one with cream cheese frosting. Adoniya has all opens available. You name it they have it. I was find with this. I am not a big fan of cream cheese. He felt the icing was somewhat buttery, rest was good.
I went in for a Blueberry Cheesecake. While the cheese cake part was very good, the blueberry were pretty bland. Usually we find the berry or compote way too sour, but here it was not even slightly tangy or sweet.
They have a small new menu and we wanted to try the Drama dessert. We decided to have the 'By The Beach' dessert. While I would have picked up the chocolate one, but I was way too full that. Hence we ordered this, which my friend preferred.
A blue curacao white chocolate dome sitting on a bed of vanilla cake and de constructed pinacolada bars, encompassing a generous scoop of creamy tender coconut ice cream topped with sweet juicy pineapple bits all melting under a creamy salted caramel sauce!
Frankly this did not impress us. The only element I loved was the tender coconut, taste wise brilliant.
I always need something savoury while having desserts, and the Masala Fries fit the bill. The dips were damn good too.
The bill came to Rs 460 only, which is very reasonable.
I will still definitely visit again as I love the brand and the various creations. A lot more is yet to be tried.
Their Ferrero rocher milkshake and cupcakes are the best in and around besant nagar !
Tried french fries combo with nuggets and cold coffee is the best and worth it !
It was one of those food trail kinda day, when we don't stop with just one place. This joint was strongly recommended by a friend.
Very near to the beach, the ambiance of this tony place is nice. Red and white with black designs make the interiors look good. The desserts look beautiful and the menu is nice too.
We ordered:
One Red Velvet CupCake: I felt the frosting was a bit buttery, otherwise it was good.
One Blueberry CheeseCake: My friend ordered this. I felt it was okay. Could have been better.
We indulged in a new and theatrical dessert called 'By The Beach'.
A blue curacao white chocolate dome sitting on a bed of vanilla cake and de constructed pinacolada bars, encompassing a generous scoop of creamy tender coconut icecream topped with sweet juicy pineapple bits all melting under a creamy salted caramel sauce!
I ordered this, which was a non chocolate option as I am not that fond of chocolate. But I was not too impressed with this. I usually like white chocolate based and fruit based desserts, but I guess I had too huge expectations here, which did not get fulfilled.
We ordered a portion of Masala fries, which was very good, and so were the dips.
Totally we paid Rs 460. I think the rates of dishes itself must be inclusive of taxes. Cost wise, the place looks good. I am not ticking off the place, will visit again to try other things, some other day.
Delicious with just the perfect topping Red velvet oreo brownie from Cafe Adoniya is the best I have ever had so far . Though am not a great fan of red velvet ,I wouldn't mind getting back to this place just for this brownie .
The Sin is simply a miracle made of chocolate and the rest of the dishes are cooked perfectly and taste really good!
The staff are extremely courteous and accommodating will definitely visit the next time I come to Besant Nagar! :D
P.S. Please improve the tender coconut milkshake it tastes like bounty.

After I saw the owner of Cafe Adoniya, Mariaa post the video of that sin dessert where a hot liquid is poured on a chocolate ball and it melts - I've been dying to go there. I've been to the branch in Chetpet but this dessert was available only in this branch. So I dropped in. Located very close to the Besant Nagar beach, a 25-30 seater restaurant having one of the best desserts and cakes in town. The entrance has a glass show kind which shows up majority of the cakes, cupcakes, desserts and jars. The walls are filled with humorous slogans related to food. The walls are a little dirty as they're white.
They've some combo offers so I took the combo 4 which serves nuggets, French fries and cold coffee for Rs. 230 (veg) and I ordered the sin, a plated dessert - It was a dark chocolate dome sitting on chocolate cake and fudgy brownie hiding a scoop of vanilla ice cream inside which opens up whole hot sauce is poured on it.
French fries were fried too much I guess. Nuggets were ok. Cold coffee was really good. And the SIN was actually a sin. So much of chocolate and happiness served on a plate. Worth a try! Cost for two was 410. Ample parking space.

A small place with vintage wall paper and neat interiors. Their cup cakes are yummy. I had bought different flavors and each cup cake had a unique flavor and softness with a very light crunchiness at the base. A perfect place for cup cakes
Very small shop with excellent interior decor , small and compact .
I love their red velvet cake n cupcakes it's so delicious .and I first had red velvet from this cafe :p
Sandwiches were okayish
Truely awesome!had hot chocolate, pasta and spaghetti wid sausage...too delicious to be true..the place looks tiny from outside but is big inside..
After a good tiring day, my friend wanted to read out for a cafe' ,and this long time go - to cafe struck our minds.
And guess it's the best decision we made in that day.
We had an ice tea, hot lemon tea and a garlic bread and none of them were disappointing .
They had their own style to drinks. And the garlic bread was excellent.
Nice ambience to have a good talk or lazy evenings .
The lemon tea still lingers in my thought.
Yeah,its easy on ur wallet
I finally got a chance to visit this place for their cupcakes after hearing great reviews about them. I must say their cupcakes blew me away. Some of the best in the city. Found out they have another branch in chetpet so will be visiting that soon.
Location :
Located by the beach. Has ample parking space, and is pretty convenient place to reach.!
Ambience :
It's a very compressed and cute. Has really "punny" wall hanging and frames on the wall.
Food :
I've always loved visiting this place. My favourite here are the sundaes and desserts. For just ₹190, you get really yummy sundaes and the quantity is ample too. The white sauce pasta is also pretty good. The Veg sandwiches aren't too great, but the chicken mayo is one of my favourites. And the ferrero rocher Shake, is really good.
Service :
The service is only okay. I think this is one of their drawbacks. They have only 2-3 people to handle the shop. Including the billing.
To conclude, it's a nice place to catch up or chill with your friends. And also not end up spending too lavishly. And has good value for money.
This quaint little cafe near the beach is a perfect spot to chill if it's too hot outside! Having been known for their cupcakes, I'd always been eager to try them out and only managed to do so in the past few weeks and I've been there twice since.
A simple place, it looks neat and cozy with a huge dessert display and some frames with quotes here and there. They also have a few board games which are pretty old and have a few missing parts or have been fully used. Nothing mind-blowing in the place except for the pretty sight that is their dessert chiller!
Service is quite sluggish. They only have like 2-3 people and it takes quite sometime for the food to get prepared and reach you. Otherwise, they are really friendly and courteous.
Their menu is elaborate with milk based beverages but is quite limited with their number of short eats and other beverages. The desserts they display look brilliant and taste just as well! Chocolate is highlighted in all its glory in most of it. The sandwiches and kathi rolls were quite good and to the point. Nothing exquisite, nothing bad. It was the cupcake that stole the show both times! Their cream frosting on the ultra MOIST cupcake was so light and creamy, woah *drool* *slurp*. The flavour is just bang on and the cupcake definitely is worth the hype.
Their Ferrero Rocher Shake was kinda okayish, but the Dark Chocolate Shake was YUM! Hot Chocolate was pretty great too. Pricing is slightly on the higher end, especially for those cupcakes, but I'd gladly shed for 'em cupcake yummies! Without a doubt, head here for those desserts.
From out it looks all normal, but once you get in touch with it's heavenly cakes n bakes you'll experience it's magic. The Best dessert parlour I would say. The very display of their cakes & cupcakes is pure delight to the eyes. Not only do they look yumm, but they taste all wow & rich. Had the NewYork CheeseCake and Ferrero Rocher Jar. If you are looking for best cheesecakes in town, you know where to find. It's here. Was super rich and delicious. Could feel the essence of cheese. And undoubtedly the Jar was made beyond words to explain. Finished in a stretch. Tasted only two. But it was promising and convincing enough. A must try place for dessert freaks.
#CafeReview #Adoniya #BesantNagar
Adoniya has never been a disappointment whenever I have visited it. The staff, the ambience and the food have always been value for money and time spent there. So, when my friend wanted to visit Besant Nagar Beach only for Adoniya's cupcakes, how could I have ignored.
Our order:
Chicken Kathi Roll Combo: This included one chicken Kathi Roll, a cupcake of your choice and a lemon ice tea. I went for a French vanilla cupcake. The kathi roll tasted fine with little chunks of chicken, onion and mint Chutney. Lemon ice tea was refreshing enough to beat the heat of Chennai. The cupcakes have never been disappointing :)
Veg Burger Combo: This included a student Burger with cupcake and hot coffee. The Burger had tomatoes, onion, cheese and patty tossed with a sauce which was surely barbeque sauce. This was tried by my friend and it tasted good just that the Burger could have been served better as it was almost falling apart as my tried eating it. The cupcake was red velvet that I should say is Adoniya's speciality. But that day, it wasn't really upto the mark. Cannot say what really the problem was but I felt it was due to heating in microwave that made it a little burnt. The server having some sensed that there was some problem even offered to serve another different cupcake but we were too full and more than that, my friend liked it nevertheless.
Overall, the experience was good. We paid 375-85/- (can't recall the exact price) it was worth it especially by the way the staff treats you there.
When I entered this café, it was completely empty, but I'm glad I didn't let that affect my decision of eating here. The interiors are pretty simple and decorative, with some humorous stuff framed on the walls. The guy who was managing the place was very hospitable indeed and almost made me feel at home. They were very much concerned about where I'd like to sit, how I'd like the lights and what kind of food I'd like to try. All this combined was enough for me to trust the guy and take his suggestion of a chicken kathi roll. The roll was quite brilliant, with a mint chutney inside that went very well with the chicken stuffing. I also had a regular mojito and it tasted just fine, with the perfect amount of sugar. I found it comfortable here to relax, read a book, and write. An afternoon well spent!
Their Ferrero Rocher Jar is the most amazing thing I have tasted in a very long time. They also have these tiny delights called the nutella filled cupcake! The walls are filled with funny quotes and its definitely one of those places where you can have a great time with friends. Its location near the beach makes it all the more better!
After a brief errands around bessy and broken bridge, we decided to fuel ourselves. We usually crash in Mash but decided not to go to that junction where there are cluster of cafés and eateries put together. Instead, we decided on café Adoniya. Having been to Chetpet Adoniya, expected this place to be more tenacious with cozy feel. But, it was bit fallacious actually. Upon request, they switched on AC, it was more humid in the inside than out.
Since, I was not in the mood to have pastries, decided to stick with drinks - Oreo chocolate shake. It was really good and vivacious was back on track. Though the place has lots of quote frames, wasn't impressive and didn't sync up.
Coming to service, at first they were clueless and behaved as though they didn't expect customers to come in, they did their best to be courteous.
My favourite hang out at Besant Nagar! The staff is short but they are very courteous !! They are sweet enough to ask "didn't you like the food?" When you waste even a little!! The Ferrero rocher shake is my allllll time favourite drink here..!
This place is also very famous for their cupcakes though I haven't tried them..
The cupcakes and the cheese cakes are brilliant! You should definitely try the lemon cheese cake brownie and the chocolate mousse muffin for certain! They are heaven! Do not miss out on this place!
10 o'clock in the night. We wanted to have coffee. Stumbled upon this place. Quite a cozy little place this is. Just that it could be kept a lot cleaner. We had a south indian coffee which was awesome.
Walked in to pick the dreamy cupcakes but was overwhelmed by the place and settled for a quick snack.
The uber cool decor totally floors us.
Fresco walls, cool quotations, bean bags, crafted recycled bottles , chandeliers and still I need to reaffirm if I had missed any of their well crafted interior work.
Whoever responsible for this meticulous sheer classy design,a big thumbs up!!!
To top this up,the service was very polite, kind and super quick!!! How can one place have all the right ingredients ?
And now coming to the purpose of our lives ...FOOD :D
Here's what we had,
Chilli Cheese Toast
Neat 3 (garlic or maybe plain) breads with good amount of fresh cheese melting and little chilli toppings. Totally fine. The choice of cheese was uniquely interesting.
Mint Mayo Fries
Hot crispy fries dipped in good amount of mayo, mint sauce and a variety of veggies. Gladly the veggies had well infused the essence of mint.
This can be a meal by itself.Very satisfying and good mix of flavors. Again it felt fresh. Required salt seasonings.
Strawberry Iced tea
Was recommended by staff in place of lemon ice tea.It tasted good. Not the usual bland artificial taste.
Had these as takeaways for which we originally came in for :P
Lindt Cupcake
Took this in place of Chocolate truffle cupcake. I couldn't find any difference. Totally yummy!!!
Red Velvet and Cream Cheese Jar
Heaven in a jar!!!!
This was suggested when I was looking for red velvet cupcake.
I'm glad I picked this up instead.
Right from the moment we open the jar, it is intoxicating :)
Makes us want more and more with every spoon and its quite easy to leave the jar empty in flat 2 minutes and I claim myself a non sweet tooth person :D.
Perfect buttery, moist, luxurious, must try dessert or a meal :P
Can safely pick a couple even for first try!
They have a very good menu for all kinds of short eats. There is so much choice for chicken which needs to be explored.
A perfect place for catching up with friends or a quiet snack.
Definite try.
This is a small cozy cafe near the Bessy beach, simple but tastefully decorated interiors and subtly fun write ups hung on the walls.
They offer varieties of burgers, sandwiches , pastas, rolls , fries and a huge array of cakes.
What I had here:
1. Mexican fries: They have vegetarian and non vegetarian variety. I went for non veg option which is chicken, tomatoes with French fries and cheese toppings. The tomatoes are mashed up and saucy which went so well with the fries. The chicken was also a nice addition to this, very flavourful , but would have been better if it was cut smaller as it will blend with the other ingredients. But overall this was very good.
2. Tomato basil chicken pasta: The guy was insisting on having the cheese variant of this , but I wanted to try this as i am trying to cut down ( unsuccessfully though) on calories. I was bit skeptical at first as pasta is usually good with loads of cheese. But this did not disappoint and turned up really good. The chicken were big pieces like that in the fries . But the overall taste of the dish was yum.
3. Lemon tea : This was served in a tall glass. Quantity was ample. Tasted slightly on the bitter side , but refreshing nevertheless.
The ones that takes the cake according to me are the cake jars. I got the caramel salted and the Ferrero rocher cake jars. Imagine Ferrero rocher in a jar . It was an absolute delight😍😍😍 for all dessert lovers. Caramel salted was a bit more saltier and thereby felt heavier but overall was tasty too.
All of the above items , total 5 of them worked out to 870 inr .
The staff are ever smiling and hospitable. Coupled with the pleasant ambience I would call this a "friendly neighbourhood cafe" that serves some good short eats and some amazing cakes😍👍.
I've really only tried the kati rolls here and they're excellent. They're unlike kati rolls anywhere else, but they're utterly delicious and I'd recommend them wholeheartedly. Desserts are good, if not outstanding. And a couple of the other dishes that the partner has tried have been a little less exciting, but these kati rolls (and the kulfi from Parsi dairy farm) are reason enough to go here and enjoy yourself. I do wish they had a decent washbasin though.
It's been on my bookmark list for quite some time now. It's just beside Fasoos and two or three houses from Dindigul Thalappakatti right opposite to #1, Elliots Beach Road.
Nice ambience. The interiors were done in a chic manner - an interesting mix of traditional patterns, cabinets and chandeliers on one side and good humorous posters on the other.
They also have various board games that one can play and have a lovely time while the food is being prepared by the sole staff there. The person who takes the order is most likely the one making the food as well. He is very polite and does his job really well.
Now for the food, we ordered one combo with chicken (forgot the exact name) kathi roll, iced tea and red velvet cupcake with chocolate topping and one corny chicken sandwich. Food was quite good, mainly the cupcake and iced tea.
The kathi roll came with oregano and both the sandwich and kathi roll came with chips and ketchup.
In short, time well spent.
P.S. : They have a washroom as well - a very important point for ladies on the go!

This review is only for the kulfis so it might appear to be very harsh to rate them based only on the kulfis. However, they are the sole distributors of the kulfis sourced from Dairy Land, Mumbai and hence I felt it is appropriate. I have heard so many good reviews about the kulfis in the food circle and was waiting to try it for a long time.
I even tried in the Alwarpet outlet only to find that they did not have stock of kulfis on the day I went. So finally, I got my chance. I was at my friend's place in bessie whose house is just behind Adoniya. I could not let this chance go begging. Hence, told my friends to wait, while I quickly stepped in to pick up the prized possession.
I ordered for strawberry and chikoo, two of my all time favourite flavours. Each kulfi costs Rs 100/- and comes as a circle. I packed and went to my cousin's place which is just a few km away and promptly stored it in freezer. We opened it about an hour later when more people came.
One can clearly see the icing (frost) at the top. Yet, given the Chennai weather the kulfi itself melts pretty fast. Even at 9.30 pm, it only took few minutes for it to melt completely. The kulfi also had lost shape, was not a proper circle. As I would imagine this to happen as they are transported from 1000's of km away.
Taste wise I loved them. Okay, I picked my favourite flavours, so I could be biased. But nonetheless, tasted brilliant. At Rs 100/- definitely a steal, I would not call it high priced, especially since it is not made locally. I would like to go back here to taste some of the other items in their menu. Specifically, I would love to try the cup cakes. Red velvet caught my eye instantly. It was priced at Rs 90/- on par with other outlets serving cup cakes. However, for the first time I noticed red velvet with chocolate cream as opposed to the tried and tested butter cream. I was very intrigued on seeing that, so on my list to try it later.
Funnily, there was a kulfi thallu vandi going outside my cousin's home. And we bought few of that too to go along with the kulfis from Adoniya. Of course, they do not have variety of flavours but it comes in a stick and did not melt so fast.
My friends and I do not leave besant nagar without dropping by Adoniya. I am a die hard fan of their red velvet brownie with Oreo butter cream and I ALWAYS stick to ordering this beautiful piece of melt-in-the-mouth heaven. The butter cream on the brownie is pure deliciousness and I personally prefer it over fudge and ganache frosting. Their chocolate chip cookies are perfectly crumbly and have chunks of chocolate that are so gooey on the inside. Other than those, I have also had their lindt cupcakes and caramel chocolate cupcakes and I happily declare that their cupcakes have never let me down. Adoniya also has rose water flavoured soda which was surprisingly delightful to the taste, not too overpowering nor too fizzy. Very courteous staff and the board games they have give you more reason to visit them more often.
I first tasted their delicious creation at my cousin's wedding. It was three tiered cake, decorated so beautifully that i did not want them to cut it in the first place. Later another cousin got engaged and even they ordered cupcakes from adoniya. This was back in 2013. The cake at the wedding and the cupcakes at the reception were delicious and fresh. Since then I have been a regular customer.
Their Bessy one I visited only recently. After a good meal at ciclo cafe with a couple of my friends I was craving for some fruit based kulfi.. And which better place than adoniya for a kulfi. They serve 7 different flavors and they are yummie to bits.
The cafe is done up in red with a blend of rose damask. Framed witty quotes adorn the walls. Dessert chillers are filled with yummie desserts. A beautiful red chandelier hangs on the middle of the cafe, adding more character to the place. Service wise, they are quiet decent.
I have never tried any of the items from food menu. But it did look very interesting. I'll be heading back soon to try them.
A much detailed review coming up soon. For now :
Ambience - 4/5.
Service - 3/5.
Desserts - 4/5.
Pricing - 4/5.
Location - 5/5.
Reasonably priced, good food, nice ambience! Service definetly has to improve. Had the sandwich combo...sandwich was good, mojito was ok but d cupcake was disappointing.
So another of those out-of-nowhere cafe near bessi beach.. Cool interiors, comfy seating, not-so-prepared-to-handle-crowd(wonder if it gets crowded), delicious deserts.. Tried lemon cheese brownie, and tried a bite of lindt chocolate muffin.. Both were addictive.. Would try more next time.. @Apoorva @Umesh
Cute lil cafe I found on my 'Table for 1' exploits in Chennai. Just a stones throw away from Elliot's Beach in Besant Nagar, Cafe Adoniya is a complete sugar craving satisfier. My personal favourite is the Fererro Rocher Dessert Jar. Perfect spoonfuls of cake, ice cream and the unmistakeable goodness of wafer shells filled with hazelnut and chocolate! They make for instant mood enhancers. Wasn't as impressed with their New York Cheesecake as I was with the Red Velvet Cupcake!
Price wise - The Dessert jar is worth the INR 180 you'll have to shell out!

Very nice cupcakes. Please sell at more subsidised costs and preferably without ants running around on the plates. Guys serving are very courteous & I appreciate.
This is a hard review to write, because all we had was the kulfi. The issue is that the kulfi isn't made in house. It's from the Parsi Dairy in Bombay. So this is a little like reviewing a supermarket, but for what it's worth:
The location off the beach is not great, because its basically on the edge of the fishing colony. There are a lot of nicer locations on the beach.
Parking is also a problem, with none in front of the shop. Paid parking on the beach or a long search in the nearby lanes is the usual solution.
Ambiance is very pleasant, with a lot of effort appearing to have gone into giving the place a classy yet relaxed air. Not overdoing the decor is a hard thing to get right, yet they appear to have done it here.
The service is at the counter, so hard to rate. The staff were very pleasant, so this counts as a win.
The kulfi itself is quite exceptional. 7 flavors, and it is very hard to have a favourite. The texture is exceptional, which is really everything in a kulfi. There is some evidence of frost and some amount of melting-refreezing, which is perhaps inevitable post long distance transport. That aside, flavor wise every one scored very high.
Pricing at 100 rs for a serving is pretty reasonable, given that 2 people should be able to share 1. Perhaps this would be cheaper if it were made locally, but it isn't exorbitant by any stretch.
Overall Conclusion: These kulfis are a must-not-miss item, really. They really give Pabrais a run for its money, and blow Ibaco and Baskin Robbins clear out of the water.
Been wanting to try this place for their raving reviews on kulfis and finally got a chance today!
Ambience : it's a very nice and bright place. Perfect lighting. Red chairs with black and white wall paper. Huge variety of desserts to offer and they were neatly displayed. Nice/funny messages on wall hangings!
Desserts : ordered 5 flavours of their kulfis - strawberry (show stopper), malai, mango, chickoo and kesar. All of them tasted good flavour wise but strawberry was ultimate. A must try I would suggest and also very soft compared to the rest.
Red velvet Oreo cake - they had microwaved and served it to us. Absolutely sinful. Just melted in our mouths. MUST TRY AGAIN!
Rocket soda was good. The staff offered us a complimentary elaichi shrikhand which was great!
Staff : extremely courteous in welcoming, helping in placing order and not to forget about the complimentary shrikhand :)
My score :
Food - 4.5
Staff - 4.5
Ambience - 4
Vfm - 4
I wud definitely revisit for the red velvet Oreo cake n strawberry kulfi! :D
Let me confess, the only reason I wanted to try Adoniya was because of the superlative pictures of their Kulfis being splashed all over food networks across Facebook and I personally wanted to check if the taste actually matches upto the looks. And after having a slosh at them, I would say they did live up to an extent.
We were 5 of us and hence tried a flavor each viz strawberry, mango, malai, chickoo and kesar. All of them were pretty good but among them the strawberry was the unanimous winner. It was soft, fluffy and tasted wonderful. Others were good too but found them to be quite hard. Apart from the kulfi's we also had a Red Velvet Oreo cake which was delicious and also rocket soda which tasted how it should be. We also got a complimentary Malai based Shrikand which was lovely.
It is located close to the beach and parking really shouldn't be an issue with lots of space available nearby. The place is vibrant with an interesting palette of colors and is quite quirky. The prices seem reasonable.
The kulfi's are a great step up which helps in differentiating themselves from other like minded cafe's and can be definitely considered an arsenal up their sleeve.
Visited Adoniya to pick up those wonderful things called Parsi Dairy Kulfis :)
Decided to snack on a chicken kathi roll, and personally felt it was a little under whelming for the price (160/-).
The size of the paratha was smaller than what I would expect (maybe 3/4th the size of a Tibbs Franke) ...
Having said that, the quality and taste were nice... the chicken was nice and tender, the masala was balanced and tasty. they were generous with the chicken filling as well.....
staff is polite and cheerful, which makes a big difference, and thumbs up to adoniya for that.
didn't try anything else, so nothing more to add...
only suggestion is to have a larger paratha, which will be more filling, given the price...
cheers :)
After the Sunday evening mass service, and little bit of beach walk, our stomach started to alarm our brain for food. Without a second thought headed straight here, as I was already super impressed with their cup cakes which I ordered for a birthday.
Place is located very near to Besant nagar beach, so quiet and cozily filled with elegant black and red interiors.
Staffs were super polite and service was very prompt. About the food, damn tasty and filling.
1.chicken tikka kati roll- very fresh, paratha was so flaky and soft, with a layer of egg and chicken tikka filling, made it so very delicious.
2. Chicken nuggets- chicken was fresh and tasted soooo good.
3. Barbeque fries with chicken toppings- fries on a bed of barbeque sauce with sautéed capsicum, onions, few chunks of chicken and cheese, damn yummy.
4. Chicken mayo sandwich- my son ordered and said it was good.
5. Cheesy garlic toast- as the name says it was cheesy, tasted wonderful.
6. Iced lemon tea- came in a super tall glass tasted good enough.
7.red velvet cupcake- fantastic.
All this for Rs. 1000, which is a good value for money, for it was tasty, fresh and filling. I have one small complaint though, the small sauce containers are really very uneasy to dip, for the size of the food..especially the kati rolls and sandwich. May be a simple ketchup bottle wud have eased my problem :)
I have been visiting this quaint cafe only for their yummy kulfis... Was famished today post work so we decided to head to Adoniya...
Ambience: Small, white with a lovely black arabic/indian design... Interesting lampshades hanging from the ceiling... Quirky and cheeky one liners adorn the wall... And board games for u to play while you wait for the food to arrive.... We played snakes and ladders... And I WON!
Food: I started with chicken katti roll which was green chicken wrapped in a lachcha paratha... Loads of green chutney/sauce in it... Next came the creamy fries... Nice crispy crunchy fries topped with veggies, cheese and cream with herbs and spices... The first few bites had me wondering if this was a mistake... But then I was In for a surprise.. I couldn't stop eating them...when I reached cream overed fries and corn.. It was an explosion of the comfort like a good comfort food should be..:),needless to say I polished it off...
Their veg burger was the best of the lot... The sauce had a smokey flavour and went well with the burger... Excellent! I liked the veg burger the most... It came with sides of wafer and ketchup! Then tried their tender coconut milkshake... The first glass had some dirt in it which I pointed out to their in charge... He promptly picked it up, apologised fervently and got me a fresh glass... I knew he did not give me the same one cos he threw it in the sink in front me... And they make their milkshakes out in the open... So you can be assured you will get a fresh shake... A lil bit of prodding gave the fact that the the ice creams for the milkshake is made by Malaria herself. (Maria is the owner) ....
Service: their servers and their in charge(sarfaraz, I think) are lovely smiling people... They tell me sometimes they have such a lot of crowd midmornings and afternoons that they don't get time to eat... But they have no complaints and enjoy working there...
Will I go again? Definitely.. I still have third chicken burger and the sandwiches left to try... :)
Other things I have had there are the lindt chocolate cupcake- great, red velvet jar- I don't personally like red velvet anywhere, same was the case here too but its their best seller... And have had the nutella cupcake- not a big fan of nutella but the one who ate is... He loved it!! And a friend ate cookie monster... Huge dessert glass... She loved it!
Being a huge fan of Adoniya's Chetpet branch, it was really fascinating that I haven't given their Bessy one a shot at. So when a friend of mine from ECR and I decided to meet, Bessie seemed to be the common area and I couldn't think of a another place than Adoniya.
I've known it's locale for a long time and hence I didn't have any trouble finding them but even those who aren't aware of the area can easily spot them thanks to their prominent location. There is ample bike parking space opposite of the cafe and as for cars the entire beach stretch is ours. As it was a weekday noon, spaces were almost empty. I didn't even have to pay those pesky parking charges at the beach ;)
Ambience was simple yet subtle. Quirky one liners, converted into wall hangings, the black wallpaper, contrasting red furnitures along with the menu and of course, the display of cupcakes and cookies all add their parts beautifully to the overall decor and ambience. Though the place is small, the available space is perfectly used. Customer service was really commendable. The person who took our order was so friendly and courteous.
Since we were in a hurry, I couldn't try their cupcakes and sandwiches. We just got ourselves two shakes, ie. Irish Coffee and Ferrero Rocher. Mine was the Ferrero Rocher one and it was awesome. Though a tad too sweet for my palate it was amazing and I could literally feel those little pieces of my all time favourite chocolate as I slurped it to the bottom. My friend also seemed to liked her Irish Coffee shake.
Overall damage was around 230rs including taxes. For me that's borderline between perfectly priced and slightly over-priced. If it wasn't for my bad timing sense and a tight schedule, I seriously wished I could stay back for some snacks. I would definitely come back yet again and spend some quality time to enjoy the best of what they have to offer. I personally love their selection of quick eats in their menu and hence to me, it's a highly recommended spot for all occasions.

Mannnn! This place has board games! What more do you want! Food is decent, nothing great. They did not have fries! Friendly staff, funny wall hangings, cool ambience. Apparently the dessert and the panneer soda are really good! Missed them. Will definitely go a second time, for the snake and ladder, if not for anything else!
Go here for their sandwiches (corn and mayo) and Rocket Soda. That is, branded panneer soda in the familiar goli soda bottle. Don't know any other place which stocks this.
