First visit on a leisurely Friday evening and experience was beyond expectations because
1. I had seen lower ratings from Co foodies and never visited the place since 2 years
2. Just tried egg fried rice and honestly it was at par with any other fine dining experience so far I had . Less oily , simple and neat plating and more importantly the portion of the rice was really sufficient for 2 persons . Totally thumbs up for living upto expectations
3. Staff behavior was good ( not bad )
4. Ambience was ok and can be managed for casual evening dinner , but no so sophisticated and can accommodate only 15 people max in their ground floor . Not sure about 1st floor , because it was being renovated.
5. Parking at road side as usual in mogappair and hence no point less fetched
6. Washroom can be little more hygeinic and neat .
Next visit is definite I think , cheers 😊
2nd visit
Biriyani didn't meet my expectations.. wasn't spicy though... something was amiss..the right aroma was missing .chicken pieces wasn't great either . Not changing my rating , may be will observe closely in future visits
Food was good it was typically a good udpi flavor on a perfectly balanced quality and quantity sweets were too good especially waffle was different so thick and different type of making it was ok. panner was a bit sweeter Lotus stem waa too good jtz drolllzzz must try. warps stuffing was neat not so spicy it typically a udpid style veg well cooked dish nachos were very good must try. Honey chilli potato warp was a bit horrible kinda they literally poured honey on top of it the honey taste was more dominating and suppperes the rest thing in it. I personally feel mushroom are bit oily.chat was pretty decent a must try for veg udpid style lovers
Over all really a good place I definitely recommend this to you.
A pretty decent buffet.
I went to this place a couple of days ago. The ambience and food were both pretty average. I think they can work more on the recipes and try to make the food better. The lotus stem, quesadilla, mojitos, and tacos were pretty lovely. They are the things k recommend you to have. I felt the place was slightly overpriced and they could offer better for the rates. The staff were very polite and the service was amazing. The desserts could have been better as well.
Great food and a place you could visit for some tasty north Indian and punjabi style dishes ❤! Chilly Paneer tasted amazing and wad packed with flavors! Babycorn fry was also really crispy and tasted perfect with the mayo dip . assorted non veg platter had a lot of options to choose from!! Their signature main courses Biryani 😋 which had an option of both veg and non veg! Plating was done well and the service was also pretty fast ! Definitely a place you could go to with your family or friends which have great Offers and the cost is also moderate 😁! Not to miss out this incase you're in mogappair !!! They also have Thali options too ❤
The restaurant that has been for decades is definitely proving it's worth by giving us the food with its authentic taste and flavours without compromising it's quality. Right from the starters till desserts,each and every dish were made with utmost perfection and delicacy. Also,it's definitely worth every penny you pay. The service was quick and neatly presented as well. People in and around, should definitely not miss out this gem of a place.
They have amazing non vegetarian food with a long history of being the oldest restaurant in the area , it is a staple to the food industry. I really enjoyed my food here . The starters to the main course till the very end of the desserts were a total filler. I would highly recommend the Chicken Biryani , Chicken Tandoori and The Dragon Chicken 😘.
A family friendly restaurant, with new additions in the menu that makes it more exciting . They're coming up with new seating area in first floor and it can occupy atleast 40 -50 people . The food is served pretty quick and the staffs are friendly . The service is neat . We personally loved the chicken biryani , chilli paneer tikka , schezwan veg fried rice , ghajar ka halwa ❤ Definitely worth the try and many more tries .
Had lunch with my colleagues today at Shanghai Dhaba. This is nearby 7M bus depot in Mogappair west, and our usual joint. Small dining area with decent and clean ambiance.
Recently they have introduced Punjabi Thali, ordered two Punjabi Non-veg thali, one Punjabi Veg thali, Fish Biryani, Chicken fried rice. Chicken Red pepper and Garlic Fish were the starters.
Both the thalis had decent spread from soup, kebab, gravy, rice, roti, dal, curd, salad and pickle. Taste of each item was done to perfection. Biryani had very good flavors and both the starters were excellent. Finished with scoops of Ice-cream and lemon soda.
Service was very good considering it was a rush time. Overall experience was very good and the taste of their menu always remains the same, will definitely recommend for group outings.
Visited Shanghai Dhaba yesterday for a dinner with family. This is a 15 years old Restaurant serving Punjabi and Chinese delicacies. Small and cozy ambiance, was told bigger dining area is getting ready upstairs.
Ordered Tandoori chicken, Malai chicken kebab, Dragon fish, Paneer tikka for starters and for the main course Mutton Biryani, Mixed fried rice, Rotis, Punjabi Chicken, Paneer butter masala. Finished the meal with Carrot halwa, King falooda and Lime mint cooler.
Over all taste, of the items were very good. Dragon fish was the stand out, kebabs tasted excellent and cooked to perfection. Mutton biryani is dum cooked and tasted very good with the brinjal chutney and onion raitha they provide. Rotis blended well with the Punjabi gravies. One of the few places in the area, where we get range of faloodas and to finish of Carrot Halwa was yummy.
Very good value for the money spent.
Small and cosy, nice restaurant. I love the place. Dined with family it's very close to the 7 M Bus terminus.
Naan, roti, mushroom curry was well made
Dragon chicken tasted good but too much of onions slices . Good service. Worth the price amd was satisfied more than expected.

The right kind of food for your taste buds to get adjusted well to. Great food. Ambience is not bad, the place is‘ the either. After all never judge a book by its cover. You want the right kind of Dhaba food Shanghai Dhaba is the place to be to. Flavours just flow through the way one would want it to
picked up chicken fried rice with Chill chicken on the way back home. I enjoyed it. Love the meat. Delicious.a must try place. You will really like the taste.

After the renovation they started doing really great. The customer service(delivery) was awesome. Most of the food taste very good. I can see some extra oil in some Gravys. I think that is normal in this range.
We ordered 3 times in last few months from our office on night out. Our whole team enjoy the food. For me their fried rice gives fast food taste that I enjoys a lot. American chopshy 4/5. Overall very good by this small outlet. They can improve it further.

Situated in really good location, best place i need to say for college couples as well as North Indian food lovers.
The service is good and the waiting time is short.
I have been here for lunch and dinner quiet a lot.
Lunch are quiet good, for the price.
But i would say go for dinners as the food is very delicious.
With right price and nice sitting , its ideal for any North Indian youth in place like chennai.
One of my bestie..I hav been there at least a 200 times and ordered all the dishes in menu ..in last 6years there were many changes..yet there was no change in their taste..
Its a decent place for North Indian and Chinese food. The ambience is simple. The service is fast. But importantly the food is g8 especially the starters and biryani's. Also the phulka's they serve are very soft. Goes well with the spicy North Indian place. Overall its a restuarant, I would like to visit again.

The food was really great in this dhaba also there was a wide range of menu, The ambiance was ok not that bad, the service was good and the only thing that was lacking was the time they take to prepare the food because they were short of staff so they can't manage the customers at that time. Overall it was worth the wait and the food was amazing.
Place was too small for a Family to dine in and servers were too less in number to service. So there was a delay each time. But, then the food (though haven't clicked much of food pics🙈) and the quiet environment was good to convince us about the other disappointments :)

Liked their Dragon Chicken, was tasty.
Over all for the price they need to either improve taste or their portion.
Food was excellent tastewise n freshness, chicken gravy n tandoori masala should have been good quality unlike in some places, where the color sticks on hand. Ambience was good, its a small restaurant so had to wait for few minutes to dine in, n food was a bit expensive but definitely worth it....

This was one of dominant non-veg restaurant in Mogappair west for many years in the past. Now more competitors however they still maintain the same taste. This is good to go for occasional visit with family and friends..... Moderate price....
Since 2005 I was regular customer. It's awesome. Food taste makes us a mouth watering. Wonderful taste. Hands off Shanghai dhaba chef👍👍👍.... I tasted all variety foods.....
