Tried Tandoori Platter and Rainbow Special Chicken Biriyani. Tandoori platter had much varieties but not quantity and Rainbow Special Chicken Biriyani was Awesome with boneless chicken, cashews, dry grapes. Was very satisfied with that Biriyani and will order again for sure.
We were around the area and looking for a quick dinner, so stepped into Rainbow. We got half a grilled chicken and some noodles. The chicken was decent with some good mayo. Really stringent about the bread though. The noodles had reasonable quantity, but were very oily. Quite fat heavy, so it took away a lot of the flavor.

Taste was average. Ordered tandoori through Zomato and got delivered within 35mins . This too was on a rainy day when other restaurants were closed for online ordering.
Overall experience - good
Rainbow is one place that we can count on for lunch at work. It is one of our favourite places and invariably somebody at work would have ordered from Rainbow almost every other day. Our top favourites are paneer pulav, mushroom biryani and ceylon egg parantha. Most recently, dragon aloo has made it to the top spot. We have also tried the fried rice and other gravies and dal. I find it well spiced and cooked well. Their delivery service is quick and portions are big. It indeed is a treat to get food from Rainbow and a must try for diners in and around T Nagar and Mahalingapuram.

We entered this hotel around 5ish in the evening. There were very few ppl. I bought a combo offer from little. The restaurant was glad to accept that.
I tasted biriyani, chicken 65, noodles, soup and lime juice.
Biryani was tasty with soft pieces. Noodles was well cooked and delicious just like any Chinese joint. The chicken 65 was very tiny though well flavoured. If could have been bigger. Overall, it was a nice experience- no regrets.
I have visited this restaurant few days back with my friends. It is quite difficult to find out the place since it was located in a place where it is not noticed much. Chef's special chicken biriyani is worth trying. We ordered volcano chicken which was a flop
I have ordered kashmiri naan with kung pao chicken, butter naan, phulka and al faham. Everything was good especially Kasmiri naan and Al faham.. Both dishes are too good. Worth the money paid and pocket friendly. Time taken for delivery was late but worth the wait...
We went there 2 or more times. We enjoyed having egg appam, ceylone paratha, butter naan, phulka, garlic naan, paratha, Al faham chicken, mutton chettinadu, chicken hyderabadi and also falooda. All items were good except falooda. Falooda was not so good. Pocket friendly restaurant.
Good place to have kerala cuisine. Their parottas are really good.
Non veg meals is really good. idiyappam is my favourite.

Really amazing fried chicken in kerala style, paired with super fluffy Malabar parathas.. loved the taste.. also available are super rich and pure fresh fruit juices.. yummm
Rainbow is one of the nicely built mid range restaurants located in the heart of the city. You might miss it on traffic as it is not easily visible even though it sits on a busy intersection, so I suggest you leave route finding to google this time. This restaurant came highly recommended to me by one of my best friends, so I decided to give it a try.
The grills, kashmiri naan & kerala dishes are yum in here. 😋
And, there's no parking available as it's on the main road

The Rainbow restaurant in T Nagar is one of those places I get my lunch delivered from occasionally. So I was more than thrilled when I got an invite to check this place out in person. Apparently this place has been here for a while and from the looks of it, they've gotten a face lift recently.
Rainbow restaurant is located right below the Mahalingapuram flyover. As far as the parking is concerned, being located in a narrow yet bustling main road isn't a place that might offer parking. But there's a decent parking space below the flyover which can accommodate a couple of cars and two wheelers.
The restaurant has a normal dining area on the ground floor which extends to a portion in the first floor too. The first floor also extends to a AC dining area. While there isn't much to write on the decor part for the ground floor, considerable time has been spent to make this AC section look family friendly and better. They've almost pulled a fine dining experience styled ambience.
Here are the items we tried and how they fared:
French Onion Soup: It was quite a surprise move from the restaurant when they gave this first and I was actually taken aback. I judged too quickly that this soup has nothing to do with this cuisine and though I was sort of right with it, one sip of it proved that it's alright for something to be out of place if it's perfect. The soup was soothing, delicious and lovely.
Tandoori Platter: A regular medley of different tandoori based chicken items such as Tikka, Malai, Reshmi and Tangri. This was quite a mixed bag. Some were excellent, such as the Malai version. One of them was too salty while others were decent.
Crispy Veggies: The name says it all. Didn't look appetising so didn't even try it. Those who did, said it was alright.
Shaghai Noodles and Fried Rice: Mediocre dishes which could be much better. Ironically the regular ones I order often taste better than the ones that were served.
Special Biriyani: I like my biriyani in a certain way and I'm very strict about it. This version with scrambled eggs was actually yet another surprise as it was really good. I liked it and though I won't order it for delivery as it'll get cold by the time I get it, this is one dish I'll order if I'm dining in.
Falooda: Can there be a better dessert? A tall glass filled to the brim with usual ingredients that goes in a regular falooda. Tasted much better than what we expected it to be.
Overall, it was quite a mixed experience but considering the food I regularly get delivered is better than what I actually tried here, my rating of 3.5 is justified. The surprises were the dishes that we expected to be OKish but they ended up being the stars of the night. They can do much better than what they're doing right now and I wish to dine in soon here once again.

Quiet place, virtually empty everytime I have been there. Really good food though, one of my friends has a very sensitive tummy but even he didn't have any discomfort after gorging here. Food is really good, loved the schezhwan fried rice and the 'porichathu' starters. Service is good! We had to latch onto our waiter for a while asking him to explain every dish on the menu. He was patient with us, even called the kitchen once to confirm the brand of ice-cream they have! Overall good place, would go again!
good ambience, moderate pricing, but very less options for vegitariens/vegans. Taste was good so is the service. Worth a try on an average day...

The city just cannot have too much of shawarma and grilled chicken, they say. Anticipating to taste some quality shawarma, I walked into this restaurant for a meet.
The location: It's on North Usman Road but don't go up the bridge. Or you'd have to take a roundabout route just to go under the bridge. The brightly lit sign board is a bit hard to miss.
The ambience: Well, it was pretty normal. A beige set up with three dining sections set on two floors. Their tables had some puzzle sheets with Sudoku that would be ideal for bored kids (perhaps?) and some adults as well!
The food: All that anticipation for the shawarma sank as we were not served what seemed to be the star of the restaurant. Nonetheless, here's what we had:
-French Onion Soup: A clear soup with an egg cracked into it and a crouton. I liked how the soup tasted along with the yolk but a little bit of the white was raw. But, it had this subtle flavour which opened up my appetite.
Starters
-Tandoori Platter: Their flavours were good but some pieces were a tad bit burnt. However, I liked their malai kebab and the tandoori kebab.
-Bell Pepper 65: Perhaps an unintentional spill of Chaat masala ruined the entire starter. It could have tasted a lot better without the addition.
Mains
- Special Biriyani: They had egg in this biriyani, not just boiled but scrambled as well! I liked this the best. It had good flavours and the spices were worthy of another spoonful.
-Shanghai Noodles: I liked the texture of the noodles a lot in this one. Flavours were just about right.
-Shanghai Fried Rice: If you like your food a bit on the bland side, this one is for you.
Dessert:
-Falooda: Strawberry-flavoured and set in a pretty tall glass, it was an end that no one would complain about. The quantity is a bit much for average eaters, especially after a meal but taste-wise I loved the subtle sweetness and the freshness of the fruits. Not to forget some nice vanilla ice cream on the top.
Service: It was very elementary. But I am not much of a sucker for constant attention. So, I was happy with it.
Price: Non applicable
Will I go there again? If I am around, I would probably drop by for some shawarma and some grilled chicken!

Being a directionally challenged person, I need my GPS at all times. And Rainbow made me hunt for about 30 minutes going around the bridge. So if you're not sure of where it is, I can only tell you this much- DO not follow the maps till they update the location! Its right under the bridge!
When I first saw the place, I wasn't impressed. The inside however is impressive. The restaurant consists of a ground floor and first. The first is divided into two portions and we sat on innermost portion.
We started with a really nice French Onion soup, this was my absolute favorite here. It has a nice full yolk inside and the onions give the soup a superb taste.
We were served for starters - a platter of chicken,all colours and types. And a Bell Pepper 65. The platter of chicken was served with an over bright green chutney. I preferred the Bell Pepper 65 to the chicken :)
For mains we were served Special Briyani, Shanghai Noodles and Shanghai fried rice. The Briyani was spectacular , it had two boiled eggs on the top as well as mixed scrambled egg inside.
The Shanghai noodles had like 3 pieces of prawns and I was really hoping for some extra prawns :(
Both the noodles and Fried rice were red in colour and decent to taste
We ended with Falooda. They looked beauutiful as usual. It had everything a Falooda should have. And was a lot for a person like me to finish .
Overall, I can't judge the price but I think this would be a good casual low budget family dining place.

Rainbow restaurant is a pretty old restaurant in the locality of T.nagar...Once you cross the Kodambakkam flyover and travel towards valluvar kottam this restaurant comes on the first right..the road that leads towards T.Nagar..Though situated just couple of shops from the junction its pretty hard to find it as it falls below the mahalingapuram flyover...They dont have any exclusive parking but the place below the flyover is used for the same...but you got to have difficulties on busy days....
The restaurant has been renovated recently with some decent ground floor seating area of around 20ppl..i remember friends saying that the ground floor looked more like a dungeon..but now its really decent and clean...looks similar to any high level restaurant...the first floor houses 2 separate dining areas which can hold 40-50 ppl in total..the whole place looks really good and well maintained...Cant comment much about the service as it was an invite...but the friends who arrived before me and had place the order complained about high waiting time...the servers are polite and courteous though...
The items we ordered and my take on them...
French Onion Soup : Clear soup with some fried onion and croutons style fried bread slice and a whole egg yolk...The taste of the soup was really good...
Tandoori Platter : It had few variety of kebabs(Malai, Reshmi and Achari), Lollipop Chicken, Tangri Kebab and a tandoori chicken piece...Though the meat was soft and tender there were a few negligible mistakes in the items...The tandoori and the Tangri kebab were some usual stuff and tasted decent..the malai kebab was really good as it was supposed to be...but the achari was too salty and the hariyali was a bit burnt..the lollipop was just ok..
Crispy Veggies : Though the name suggests crispy veggies it had more of capsicums and onions and some chilis too...taste wise i could just taste the batter and nothing else...the spiciness was just from the few chilli pieces it had...
Shangai Noodles : Was a bit spicy and oily...taste was pretty average with some decent meat pieces..
Shangai Fried Rices : Was a bit Bland and also was on the oiler side...taste was just good though...
Spl Biryani : Best Dish of the lot..Biryani cooked with scrambles egg and fried chicken pieces and hadsome raisins too..taste was really yum...only problem was the big chunks of tomatoes....
Sides : The Green Chutney served with the tandoori platter was too sour..thanks to the curd...the onion raita was average stuff..The gravy tasted good but was a bit oily...
Falooda : Finished off the meal with a large glass of royal falooda...was really good...with the usual stuff like vemicelli, basil seeds, Jelly pieces and cut fruits...Was a decent falooda...
The Meal was a mixed bag with some items that were bad due to a few mistakes and many of them were pretty average..only the biryani really stood out...They failed to serve the dishes where they are really strong at..like the breads and gravies..which definitely would have given a better experience for sure..

This became one of my very favourite restaurants, as I like their flavor of spl. chicken biriyani & its ingredients. My another favourite is Kerala Chicken fry. I liked the service and ambience. But the chicken was little harder not tender enough to eat. Please use tender chicken for cooking further. I also had Cream of Tomato soup, with is not that great as i expect from other restaurants! Overall I love the dishes, varieties. With some minor drawbacks which they should correct soon! Apart from that Rainbow is awesome restaurant !
Please dont suggest any combo to customers, it literally sucks a big time. Even I would suggest to remove combo from your menu card, it never full fill the hunger of a average man, for that we need to pay more than 200rs per head
Pathetic and Disappointing Home Delivery!
I had this super bad experience with these guys when the home delivery took hours.So much so that the delivery guy took 20 mins just roaming around my locality and not bothering to pick up my calls.His arrogance was simply disgusting and at the end I was left astray.Food is good but attitude is seemingly appalling!!!
Rainbow is very close to LIBA. As hostelers we used to rush to Rainbow for the weekend breakfasts when we miss the hostel mess food.Rainbow serves good food with great customer service. They introduced a special breakfast cobmo recently, which is very economic and tasty. The morning combo comes with a hot tea as well. I had Idiyappam ( Semiya as per menu ) & Egg roast combo today and it was really delicious. The quantity in the egg roast was good. Good job guys!
Desperate to have lunch we entered this place with no hopes . But too our surprise the menu gave a smile on our face to find north cuisines , Biriyani and Chinese items nicely displayed in the midst of Chennai , where it was even difficult to decide whether to eat only Biriyani or to stay hungry .
The food was not bad at all.Ya the food had that south indian spice and Biriyani did not have the authentic biriyani flavor . But Ya u wont be disappointed by opting for chinese.

It's an very old resturant ..if ur an outsider you will not even know that this resturant even exist unless u know t. Nagar so well .. such a cute place near the kodambakam bridge towards loyala college ... I love the American chopsy..ya mugalai biriyani is such an awesome thing to taste 😍 normally I love pucket fish ..but hear it's not that great ..but ok do try tandoori chicken.. budjet is also quite ok .. one rice two people can have ..they give so much .. best place ..people must try
Food is good but their grill chicken was burnt .. It had a bitter taste .. And butter chicken is so sweet .. Anyway I like sweet so it felt gud fr me ... Their combo offers are really awesome ...

I just loved the menu and the service of them. Clean and neat and tidy looking kalm. All the time served with hot and testy. Rate is also quite good and I regularly go there to have my lunch....
It's great to had a positive experience with the restaurant meals and found the chicken tandoori to be tasty. However, it's unfortunate that the rasam was a bit of a disappointment. Taste preferences can vary from person to person, and it's not uncommon to have different experiences with different dishes. It's possible that the particular preparation of the rasam or its flavor profile didn't align with your personal taste.
Road style dishes with a okayish ambience 😀... Madras kothu parotta is a must try in this place
Quality and quantity of biriyani is good and hygienic environment. The dishes price is less when compared to other hotels in this area.
Tried non veg dinner, good taste. But the crowd is too less when compared to a year before. No idea whats wrong with the restaurant. Neat and clean atmosphere though.

Vegetarian experience is bound to be average in non veg hotel, I was prepared... But they surprised with good veg food, I was so thrilled that they were able to give correct spice level when asked for it. (I asked for no spice veg noodles and they had no trouble preparing it). They could improve paneer tikka, the service was good not perfect so 4 star, comfortable seating, two floors Ground floor for non ac, first was ac. The recommended chilly mushroom was awesome, no complains. I was hungry didn't take any photos of food, anyway here is the seating with Sofa in Ac first floor.
BTW it is in hotspot, and I reached only by 10:30pm so no trouble in parking, good luck getting a parking spot when T.Nagar locality comes alive after corona era.
Food tast was awesome, but the only dissatisfaction was the service and the atmosphere, it's not like it is bad but, could hav been better
