Conventional Restaurant - No No No :) I appreciate the minds that has gotten into making the best out of the space available. You will realize that you are surrounded by greenery on 3 sides with their kitchen on the 4th. There is no AC, but you would find yourself in atleast 2 degrees colder here from the rest of Chennai. You would be surprised and feel cute about yourself as you dip in the starters in a small bucket of Mayo. And as you wait for your food (you will notice them getting your orders ready as its an open kitchen!) you can pick up a board game and atleast set it up. This place is so apt for bringing in your friends for a weekend evening snack. College goers - You will love this place, I must say! I like the twist that they have given to the dish and to their names. Food is simply awesome!
I ordered pav bhaji and the way they had both pav and bhaji in one, was intriguing and delicious in taste. Absolutely loved it. Do give it a try.

This is a nice, cozy place to hang out and chill with great food at a very reasonable price. I quite liked their tomato soup and their pasta is a great item to order, both by the quality and quantity of the dish for a mere 150 bucks. They also had really pretty ways to serve the food! :D

Arama cafe is a nice place to chill out and is one of the few open surrounding places in the city. It's a natural scenic outlet and doesn't have a closed encircle in any way. Apart from the outside seating arrangement, there is also a lawn spacing. Sometimes with the heat it does get a bit unnerving but considering almost nowhere else you get to feel the breeze directly hitting you, it does have a charm of it's own. The ambiance is more to do with dim lighting, cane crafted wood work and portraits stuck up on the wall. You can also get to witness a see through kitchen. It's pretty clear that it's an out and out evening place.
The menu is pretty elaborate. They have much more than the usual cafe stuff. They have different kind of bread items, soups, quick bites such as chaat and street food stuff, appetizers, salads, rice, noodles, pasta and a host of desserts. This could easily suffice as a fine dining place considering the food options available.
Was here on a late evening and tried one of their shakes called Nasty Blasty Splash which is an oreo based ice cream shake with flowing ganache and chunks of chocolate cake. The description sounded fascinating but what I was served was a closed bottle with all the ingredients and methodology being the drink unseen. I expected an over flowing glass with avalanche of chocolate and oreo but that was not the case. Taste wise though it was pretty good but felt the quantity to be a bit minimal. Also tried an appetiser in the form of a cheese garlic bread which had oodles of cheese and layered with flakes. It was crunchy and felt nice to eat.
The rates are pretty reasonable and there are options aplenty. The service was a little patchy and we needed to call them constantly for placing our orders as well for requests like water etc. This is however a laid back cafe where you can spend a really long period of time without being disturbed. You can just sit and chat nonchalantly as you please. A nice little place for a quite relaxed evening.
After seeing the pictures My fnd and me went today at the afternoon time. The ambience is super cool. All the crockery they used for serving is really very cute. Now the real thing is food. We r not really very happy with the food in terms of test. We ordered 2 masala tea, pav bhaji and vegetable cheese sandwich. I want to start with Masala tea which was really bad because they mixed too much masala but forgot to boil tea leafs I think. Anyways it was hot and I'm suffering with cold and cuff I drank it. Then the pav bhaji came and it was looking different but test was not great. Lastly vegetable cheese sandwich which was really testy. I loved the sandwich. Our bill was 330 which is pretty decent. So overall

Pasta was like an Indian Curry blended with Italian sauces omg 😍 it was damn awesome . Then as far as the pizzas concern I’m Sure you would haven’t had a pizza with such a soft crust. Concept was Italian but Taste was a compete Indian at its best . The French Fries ( masala fries ) was one among the best in starters . So as far as the quantity concerned A plate of each dish is enough for two persons . As far as the price concern it’s damn cheap . GST is also 5% or 6% only damn cheap but the taste was like something far better than fusilli oreganos mash etc.. the biggest plus of the Cafe is the ambience . Visited this cafe last night . beautiful ambiance and service was really good... enjoyed every bit of my evening here. i had pizza , stuff on a stick, milkshake the mountain mud , garlic bread with cheese. food was by far really good in terms of the pricing and the quantity they give. i dont think with the kind of pricing they have and the way they present their dishes is present in any other cafe around adyar or besant nagar...A/C not being there is the only drawback.

I had seen the cafe many a times while crossing through the quaint streets of Adyar, but got the time to try it today, and here I am immediately writing a review about it.
The garden cafe is located in a tranquil curve in Gandhi Nagar, never fails to attract the passers by. The fusion cafe was started in December, 2016 by the actors Sharran and Vimal of Inidhu Inidhu, as a medal for their epicure. You pass by the beautiful stone walkway and find the cute garden with the seating arrangement. The place will be snug during Chennai's best weather, while not too amicable during summer. The place seemed usually gloomy, and also charming. I must come here once with an intellectual company or a book, sit, chat and read here for hours, especially during rains in Chennai.
On seeing the menu and the description of their recipe, I am still confused whether I ordered the food for their names or the contents. To start off, garlic bread with cheese, was minimalist food, good, but nothing more than that. Stuff on a stick - intriguing vadas with gun powder and poked by ink fillers with two different types of sauces and overwhelming garlic clouds was sharp, sour, scrumptious all at the same time. The chai had nothing bad about it - nothing good either.
They have one of the best service in Chennai, and these people take the customer's reviews and liking very seriously. The cold coffee felt more like a chocolate shake with more sugar in it, and we shared this view, and the staff immediately replaced it with a good one. Other than that, the staff are very kind and orderly.
Come to their magic trick - pricing - attracts every other person. I can guarantee that the pricing for the quality and quantity of the food has an upper hand with many other cafes in Chennai.

This cafe interested me when i was crossing it one day. A beautifully lit place with board games ( tough to find the coins and pencils though) , it offers decent food with interesting pieces of crockery. It also has swings and other cool stuff in it's garden to burn your calories after dinner or warm yourself before a meal :p.
Garlic bread here is a must try. The texture was good and you could smell them getting fried if you get a seat near the kitchen :D.
Coffee : Had a typical Chennai taste but they could've
worked on making it a little more thicker.
Pasta : Tastes as good as it seems. All I wished for is some more.
Cookie dough : It was my first time trying it and it tasted ' not so bad '. It could've been colder for a dessert.
Nutty grasshopper milkshake : Well.. No marshmallows. Other than that a great blend of nuts and vanilla. Again, could've been colder.
Overall a good place to hang out with your gang of friends or for a casual date.

This place has been around for a while now, and good words spread faster than wildfire. I have been here around three times and have recommended the same to a couple of friends as well. A consistent service is a certainly their quality point. The service is very friendly and definitely in keeping with consumer liking! They take the customer feedback very seriously and put it into immediate action! On one of my visits, the ordered dish was not up to our liking, on sharing our comments to the chef, she replaced the same twice till we were content with our spread on the table. Kudos to their perseverance!!

ARAMA CAFE the best in adyar when it comes to the ambiance , food and service. their juices are certainly the best I've had in recent times. specially the mango pulp which i think we don't get anywhere in Chennai. burrito z were good and loved stuff on a stick very innovatively presented and tasted yummy...they certainly are changing the trend by having a DJ playing music at their premises on Saturday nights. ill certainly recommend this place . completely in love with the place.

in this Chennai heat me and my friends took the courage to go this open Garden Cafe in Adyar. To our surprise this place in the evening is really good. the ambiance to start with is really pleasant and the lighting of this place has been done very smartly. They have a garden next to the place where the dining is. If your lucky enough with the climate then this place gives you really good vibes. They have a juice counter facing the road and the cafe too. we had juices which to me were really fresh and well made. Food was good. we had food for thought and Szechwan sandwich which i have never eaten anywhere and it was yummy.service overall was good. It was a good evening spent ....

My best friend has been so desperately wanting to visit this cafe after checking their reviews and pics and I'm so glad that she did and with me!
Location and ambience : it's definitely the highlight of this place! The ambience is perfect for evenings out in the open when you just want a whiff of fresh breeze over you. I'm not sure how convenient it would be to visit this cafe in the afternoon though , given our Chennai is sun's favorite child!
One of the first things that attracts you is their menu! The definitely have put in their efforts to make this cafe stand out and that's definitely evident with their quirky menu!
Food : we had ordered cheese 🍟 (duh) and a waffle sandwich which was filled with cheese and veggies .
For main course we had herbed rice with white sauce which was their most raved about dish from zomato .
For drinks I tried to stay safe with the Oreo shake .
The fries were great and the waffle was my favourite of the day! The herbed rice was definitely something very different but the Oreo shake was a total letdown . Had the taste been as awesome as their presentation , it would have been a 5/5 no doubt!
Cost : it cost us around 700 for all these which is pretty reasonable I would say! The only letdown was that they didn't have their card machine working which was a pain to go to the ATM to draw cash and get back!
Verdict: I'd definitely visit this cafe again just for its ambience and hopefully I'll end up being more satisfied than I was last time
One lazy Sunday evening, after having a light lunch we were looking for a place to hangout and talk, Arama cafe was indeed a good option.
First off, they have done a very nice job with the interiors. Plants, fairy lights, the place has a calming effect. The place offers only outdoor seating.
Since we weren't hungry, we ordered only one starter and dessert (can't leave without dessert can I ? 😜)
🍴 TRIED AND TRUTH (eh?) - It's nothing but fluffy buttery paav with a potato filling. Presentation was top notch! But I felt the potato filling wasn't sufficient!
🍰 FINAL CONCEPTION a.k.a KitKat cheese cake, again, presentation was Fab!
KitKat dipped in cheese cake was perfect combination! The sad part was, after 2 spoons it kinda got too sweet (and for me, reaching that point is rare)

A fairly new vegetarian café which we visited on a sultry Saturday afternoon when we weren't much hungry. The place was completely empty the entire time. We were the only customers.
Location - It's located in the street that's adjacent to Fortis Malar Hospital. Once you enter that street, it's pretty easy to locate to your right side. Google maps also points out the location exactly.
Parking - There's no exclusive parking space. Parking needs to be done in the side of the road. Opposite side of the road is a "No Parking" area. So cars and bikes need to be carefully parked at the side of this restaurant.
Ambience - Only outdoor seating is available. Since it was sultry that afternoon, we wanted to sit in AC. So this was a dissapointment. The place isn't exposed to the sun and is fully covered with thick sheets and high speed fans are also available. However, if indoor seating option was also available, it would have even better. There is also a swing, slide and merry-go-round for children to play. And there are also some indoor games for adults (who are still children in their hearts 😝) like ludo, snake and ladder, etc..
Service - The waiters were too casual but courteous. Not very professional. The items were bought reasonably quick to our table. Atleast one of the waiters was always available. So that was one good thing.
Food - Pure vegetarian dishes named uniquely. The menu consists of almost all possible items that a vegetarian café needs to have. Our orders were:
👉 Burn The Finger - This was french fries topped with bits of cheese & jalapeños served in a huge mug. This was fresh and it tasted good. The quantity was also good.
👉 Mountain Mud - This was chocolate milkshake served in an attractive bulb shaped glass. On the mouth of the glass, there was a mini donut with chocolate sauce applied on the inner layer placed. The donut was not so yummy and felt like it was old and not fresh. The shake was thick and yummy! The bulb shaped glass seems to be a little smaller than the usual glasses in which milkshake is served. But since it was yummy and my tummy got full soon as I wasn't already hungry, the quantity didn't bother me much.
👉 Teletubby - This was a blueberry shake and this was also served in an attractive bulb shaped glass. This was also thick and yummy. Even on this the donut placed on top alone felt like it wasn't fresh and was old.
Paid ₹518/-. Not reasonable considering the fact that we had just three items in a Non AC area. Apart from that, this place is recommendable for couples who want to spend some peaceful time together.

I happened to visit this cafe today evening. ambiance is really good. food is different and people who don't like experimenting with food might not like it. Its really good and they use a lot of herbs and different spices to taste yummy. chefs are generous enough to explain the menu which is not seen in many cafe's or restaurants. i liked the place overall . a chilled out place to hang out with friends.

Now coming to the food - the spread is very limited with bizarre combination of South Indian , North Indian and continental. There is no healthy snack - say something baked or steamed etc. I was disappointed that being a cafe, they did not have sandwiches 😦. We had a pizza and stroganoff and both were good. The cucumber mint cooler was also nice. Overall ambience and food taste is great . I go with 3.5 primarily coz of lack of spread.

Great location. The place is done up innovatively. So are the dishes presented creatively. Unique names adds to the fun in discovering what you want to order. The staff are extremely cordial and curteous. We ordered possibly everything on the menu. Starts were pretty good. Tandoori idli could have ben less oily. Pizza was good. The tawa pulao combo sizzler didn't actually sizzle nor did the tawa pulao have any veggies. It was like jeera rice. The panner spinach pakodas was lacking in some respects.makhni dish was really good. Hibicus tea could have been.less sweeter. Panic button and Manic planet was really good. So was the mashed potato starter
Ambience 4.5/5 - open, lots of greenery, feel like sitting in lawn, very soothing to eyes. Love the table arrangements and decor.
Service 4/5- staff was courteous and friendly but appeared inexperience, delay in service
Food 3/5- was ok, little expensive compared to the quality of service and food..

Nice place with a trendy ambience. Food is good though it is mostly targeted at the 18 - 25 age group. Place can get a bit warm on sultry evenings and in the afternoons.

Hey Surej here.. First let me describe about the place..! It has a beautiful set up with a see through kitchen and a beautiful lawn set up which looks beautifully greenish (morning).. And i loved the nite view of this place which was even more amazing.. They had ludo, snake and ladder, business games, monodeal etc.. The privacy expected is perfectly fulfilled..! About the food.. Try this nutty grasshopper shake its amazing they give it with a cute doughnut xD and the menu was different and nice and I'm a non veg lover myself but I guess this one veg cafe made me a veg lover too..!
Subtle flavours, sumptuous meal. The Stroganoff was out of the world!!! Quick service chilled out ambience too ................................

Lovely ambience especially in the evenings! So far the best cafe adyar has ever had! Lot of variety in the menu as well! The quantity and pricing also very decent!
Full points on location and food..tried 2 dishes...and a milkshake...milkshake tasted prefectly fine...we order for munchies which was stuff on a stick.- presentation was out of the world...the filling of cheese and malgapodi tasted so well...
Main course- the chainsmokers-
Tawa pulav sizzles served with hara bara kabab...all the favours tasted so well...spicy and also sweet...
Everything was so prefectly presented and served..the hospitality is at its best...The head chef and the Manager are both Adorable too. will recommend people to drop in...value for money.
Very nice restaurant to hangout with friends and family members in and around Adyar. Its a very nice place with a very good ambiance. We ordered Stuff on a Stick, Burritoz and the Chainsmokers. Quality and the taste of the food was too good. The idea of serving the starters (stuff on a stick) using the Ink filler was really innovative..:)I would have given 5 rating if the quantity of the food served was better.
1. The waiters to the chef's are all adorable!! Very friendly, absolutely love this place.
2. The food is good, I wish they would add a soup to their menu!
3. The Pav Bhaji was awesome, the Carrot ice cream with Mango souffle was out of this world.
4. No force fed 10% service charge!!

A very beautiful place to hangout with loved ones and friends. Its an outdoor garden cafe along the side pavements of an apartment with a small play area. A bright setup with stone pavements and a well decorated walls.
We didn't have a good appetite then, So we just ordered a #nutty grasshopper shake which was a blend of peanut butter and chocolate. The shake also includes marshmallow which just melted the next second i put in my mouth. The shake had the right amount of sweetness with the peanut butter. We also orderd #stuff on a stick which was recommended by the chef. This is basically a fusion of vada stuffed with cheese and idly podi. More than the dish, we were surprised but the presentation. The Vadas were inserted with ink fillers which were filled with pudhina chuttney . It was very new to me. The vada was crispy, cheesy and the idly podi added a a south Indian touch to it.
This place woos you just with the ambience. I guess they also host bday parties. This would be a great place to host bday parties for kids.

Finally a quaint little cafe in my neighbourhood and I couldn't be happier. Arama sits pretty on the main road behind Fortis hospital in Adyar and has a very pleasant vibe to it. The cafe has been designed with simplicity and minimalism to keep its natural charm intact. The staff is very courteous and the food is delicious to say the least. Specifically liked the menu for the way it has been creatively drawn out. I have tried their food for thought waffle sandwiches along with the Teletubby milkshake. The shake was literally a cheesecake in a jar to me. Would definitely keep coming back!

I had Masala Chai and Panic Button and the taste was very good. Slightly pricey, but definitely a worthy place to visit again.
Have been here twice. Outdoor seating is the best if it's a windy evening. The Paranthas were really filling with the right amount of spice complimented by pomegranate raitha.The Pasta wasn't great and they have only Spaghetti. They could improve on this. Burritos were cheesy and yummy! Blueberry shake was delicious.
Arama cafe good fusion food, would suggest for people who prefer some quiet place at the heart of the city, loved the ambience and looking forward to our next visit.. good work guys keep it going...Only suggestion would be it would be nice if you can add a pic of the item in the menu card paralleley to its description..

Not many cafes in adyar with such a location. Parking on the road isn't much of an inconvenience here as there is ample space.
Tried two dishes . Loved the presentation both of the food and the Wish the quantity was better tho..
The staff is cordial and the owners are sweet enough to come check on the guests and take their point of views.

Nice ambience. Outside sitout with beautiful lights and music. Appetizer was good and pizza also amazing. Dessert mountain mud and tele tubbies are so good. Worth for the money. Try with family and spend memorable moments over there.

Very good place to eat, near the main road and easy to reach, mixed veg pasta and sandwich is a must try. Mojitos are equally good. Really tasty food. Since the restaurant is just covered by shed, it gets damn hot in the noon, would not recommend if you want to hangout with your friends or family in the noon. The best time to visit is evening.
