You guys must try out this place if you live south Indian food. We were in love with this place. The food is a little costly but the taste makes up for it. We ordered dosas, idlis, vadas and appam. The cheese dosa we ordered had the most amount of cheese I had ever eaten in a dosa, it had more cheese than some pizzas.

Loved the service and the food, but it has been closed now for a while and I doubt it they will open up again.
Had breakfast here. Having zomato gold is a plus here. Orders: nellore erea karam dosa, onion uthappam dosa, masala dosa, mushroom dosa, podi dosa, paneer dosa.
In Podi dosa, podi could have been a bit crunchy. Nellore erra karam dosa was the best among all. If you are a spice lover then go with nellore erra karam dosa. That was an extraordinary dish. All other dosai were good. The price was really worth for the price.
Why ID: I love their Batter and it has done so much good for me and my family, in times where we didn't have Mom to depend on. I wanted to see how well they could do, using their own batter!
Food Served: We ordered Masala Vada, Keera Masala Vada, and Ghee Dosa. The Plates were simply unique and elegant and we were mesmerized by the whole hygiene and cleanliness kind of feeling that the place gave away. The plates looked like they were specifically designed for ID and their menu cards were extremely cute. The Vadas were handled with extreme care and came with 3 different chutneys. The Dosa was extremely crispy and soft at the same time, with their chutneys and sambar having the right kind of consistency.

After a long working day, I and my friend decided to go to ID in Besant Nagar . Ambiance was good and service was cordial. We ordered Dosas and Coffee. Taste was too good while prices were little heavy on purse. Overall, time spent at ID is always nice time .
I never missed a chance to visit ID, this was a surprise for me. As usual my favorite masala dosa and variety of chutney with perfect aroma tantalized my taste buds
We decided to head towards this small, yet simple and neat restaurant on a Sunday morning whilst craving for some comforting food.

They all were rich in taste and I'm still craving for that thenga chutney and sambar.

Breakie time and my bestie and me, decided to give good ole Murugan idli a break for a change and try ID. Apparently it is an accronym for Idli Dosai?! Sweet..
ID's interiors are anything but typical, it's rather sleek with its black and steel theme, bar stools, posters and bookmark style menu cards. The offerings are limited to the south indian staple favourites. The space is pretty small though and glass walls enclosing, can really get loud inside!
Between us, we ordered a nanari sherbet, watermelon juice and a coffee to drink and to eat we got a rava idli, karvepelai idli, kerai vadai, plain dosa and a pongal.
The drinks were all superb! my coffee came in a mug and I was half expecting a weak latte of sorts, but was pleasantly surprised at the robustness.
Of the food items, the rava idli was a little salty? the karvepelai idli is essentially a set of mini idlis with a curry leaf paste coating and it was yum. The kerai vadai was crisp and good and couldnt really find fault with the dosa. My friend didnt like the pongal, but I quite enjoyed it. It is pretty ghee laden! The chutneys were particularly awesome, esp the coconut!
Service was pretty quick and professional.
Overall a pretty good experience. For lunch, they apparently have a fixed lunch set with items varying each day and it did look interesting! will try it, next visit!

I love the pesarattu and upma.the ambience so good.The only place I go for eating pesarattu in Chennai after my home town in Andhra.It might seem a bit overpriced but totally worth it.
We were planning for a get together in a pure vegetarian restaurant and decided to go with this place. This place is easy to locate. Parking is somewhat manageable in roadside near restaurant. Not sure whether it is sufficient during peak time.
Ambiance is simple and decent. Not big place so may be crowded at times. We got table at ease without waiting. Service is decent but waiting time for food needs to be improved. Menu is Crispier containing South Indian tiffen items.
We 6 people ordered Idly, keera vadai, Karuvepillai idly, Nellore Erra Karam dosai, poori, thattu idly, sweet Pongal, kesari etc. Everything is good except Nellore Erra Kara dosai and kesari which are okay. I liked the Karuvepillai idly the most among everything we ordered. Sweet Pongal is better than what we expected. Even sambar, chutneys (3 varieties) and potato 🥔 masala accompanied food are good.
Pricing is slightly on the higher side but justifiable considering location and quality. I will be revisiting for sure.
We ordered Mysore Masala Dosa and Erra Karam Dosa. Both tastes really good.
They serve 3 varieties of chutney, mint, tomato and coconut.
All the 3 chutneys tasted really good, so did the sambar.

Ambience is contemporary with plates design and though western in look / feel, carnatic music in the background gives a native South Indian feel.
They have a provision to see through the cooking done by chefs can be seen through.
Service was good. Waiters were kind and courteous.
Everything was tasty but note that everything is expensive. Tea and coffee 100 ml is 55 RS.
Poori was so soft. Thattu idli was soft with podi on top. Sambar was tasty. Pongal quantity was so less but taste was classic. Idlis soft.
All well except for price considered to other shops like adyar Ananda Bhavan or saaravana Bhavan or murugan idli.
Recommend if you want a tasty veg destination with high prices
The food is great at ID. We ordered Kaarai Vada, Medu Vada, Pongal, Poori and coffee. Coffee was the best, vadas were super hot and right out of kadai.
Service was however little slow, there was slight waiting time for some of the customers. We had to ask for food multiple times. If that's taken care of, it would be worth a visit there. They also can improve on their presentation, they served salt in a bowl instead of proper dispenser and tissues were loosely given to us instead of in a tissue holder.
The food is too good. The service needs to be improved a lot. The dosa and Puri were the best I had in South India. The service is very ordinary. They need to rectify their mistakes in terms of service. One young guy serving us was very professional and was very good but others were not professional. I loved the service of that young guy. Don't know his name but a big thank you to him.
Wonderful ambience. Nice and courteous staff. Tasty food. The entire menucard was just a size of forehand, typical South Indian tiffin items with awesomeness on taste. Definite try for everyone
We went for an early sunrise at Besant Nagar and after that we had our breakfast in ID restaurant around 7:30 am. It is very neat but has very less space for seating. Crowded place and table booking over phone is recommended.

We had Rava dosa, Rava idly, Kasi Halwa, Pongal, Keerai Vada, Masala vara, Sambar Vada. Kasi halwa was different from the ones we eat traditionally. Taste was also different . We felt the price was a little on the higher note for breakfast and definitely it is not VFM. COMES WITH ZOMATO GOLD FOOD COMPLEMENTARY
The fresh sambar that was made by the chef, Mr. Madasamy was really good. Great service and the staff was very courteous. Mr. Manoranjan's service was on point.
A quintessential south Indian outlet, that differentiates itself from the other "Bhavan" joints in terms of its ambiance and menu. They probably want to place themselves above the regular joints but a shade below the fine dining joints and this is evident in their use of colors and pricing. Again a good strategy to offer a limited basic menu and stick to it ensuring quality.
A few good aspects to the service is to ensure that the food remains hot like placing it in hot after to serving an extra helping. I myself good an extra poori, without asking just to compensate for a slight delay in serving me.
A few areas to improve, Well!! can do well if the waiters can pronounce the the dishes correctly. My guy had a tough time saying 'Nellore Eera karam Dosa'.

The cheese dosa here is delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and their supervisor Vijay always goes out of his way to take care of us.
Went to this branch of ID for an evening meal. Had thattu idly which was spectacular with the aroma of fresh ghee. The place is pretty clean and the service is great! Murugan, one of the employees did a great job!

We ordered in breakfast of Idly and Medu Vada. Everything was nicely packed, with Sambar and 2 Chutneys.
I would have liked less plastic in my packing however, if possible.
Food was delicious; Idly had the perfect consistency and texture; Sambar was good and Chutney as well. A lot of places mess up or don't give enough attention to the side dishes, so was happy with this place for getting those right.
So I visited this place a while back, and had their vads, masala dosa and garlic dosa. I must say the food was spectacular ☀ Healthy and tasty ❤

While searching for south Indian vegetarian at 10 minutes to closing the restaurant, Noor, the steward, received us with a huge smile. We had a masala dosa, plain dosa and ended with Nanari sherbet. We enjoyed the 3 and left very satisfied. Thank you Noor.

I have been here a few times and I also have tried the other outlets of ID across the city. In my opinion, this is one of the better chains serving South Indian food. I’ve tried the other establishments in this space, but I’ve always found them really disappointing, be it the Sarvana Bhavan, Sangeetha, Vasantha Bhavan or Murugan Idli, particularly with reference to the hygiene standards, ambience and the quality of rest rooms. It’s always been like, if you are serving South Indian fast food, you don’t have to care about these basic aspects. However, this is where ID scores. Their joints are well kept up and have a nice and elegant decor with clean restrooms et al. Service is pretty good too with attentive and courteous waitstaff. And all this at a very reasonable price - absolutely good value for money when compared with the other players serving this cuisine in the city.
The quality of food, as I’ve found, is consistently good too. I like their Masala Vada, Aapam, idiyappam etc. and the accompaniments served with these dishes. On the whole, it’s really a welcome addition in this segment - South Indian fast food.

Went to the newly opened ID restaurant this evening. It is quite small and as it was a weekday evening we had the place more or less to ourselves.
We ordered Idlis, Sambhar Idli, Idiyappam with Coconut milk, Rava Dosa (crisp), Masala Dosai with butter, Medu vada and Keerai vada. Except for the two vadais which were a trifle oily, all other items were tasty.
Service was excellent with Alagesan anticipating our requirements and serving as promptly as he could, and apologizing for the delay in serving the Rava Dosai which required longer cooking time to make it crisp. Many thanks to Alagesan for his very friendly, smiling service!
Right near the Elliot's beach you will find this place which serves awesome breakfast starting 7am. We tried almost everything - thattu idli is good..dosa, idiyappam, veg stew could also be given a try. There is not a huge number of options in dosa and uttapam variety but they cover a decent spread of breakfast menu options including a few north Indian dish like Puri bhaji.
Being a huge coffee lover, I loved the way they served coffee wherein they keep the coffee cups in hot water for some time so that you filter coffee remains hot for a long duration.
The best part of the restaurant is the service. The staff was very courteous and apologized a million times if any dish was served a little late. You can ask for chutney refills multiple times and they ensure the sambhar served was piping hot even while refilling. So visit the place even if you are not an idli obsessed person like me just for enjoying the courteous service.

Excellent food. Had a very pleasant time. Special mention to Noor who took very good care of us while we were there. It's brilliant that soo many south India dishes are available round the clock, especially Pongal and Appam. Generosity with the food portions would be nice, about 50g extra.

Came to know about this place only last week. Actually we were searching for this restaurant after viewing the comments about the same Id restaurant in palavakkam. Luckily we had a chance of having breakfast today.
To start with the ambience - a simple neat calm place black n White themed - looking pleasant. It was not much crowded.
Next comes the Food - wat to say about the sweet pongal. It was so delicious with the right amount of ghee n jaggery , cashews. I really loved the sweet pongal.
We ordered for keerai vada, medu vada, Mysore masal dosa, Nellore erra karam dosa( red spicy) , cheese dosa n poori masal. Andhra people will definitely love tat erra karam dosa.... mmmmm... everything tasted so good with the three chutneys ( Indian flag colours- coconut , tomato n mint chutneys) along with sambhar . The speciality is they served the chutneys n sambhar in small cups which will be sufficient not to be wasted. If we need some more they serve. Tats really good bcos kids won’t hav more chutney or sambhar.
Mini tea was so nice served in glass tumbler. My husband ordered for a filter coffee which also tasted very good
I liked the serving bowls n even the plates...
Special mention to Mr.ALAGESAN who served us the food with a gentle smile on his face. We hardly waited for five minutes after ordering the food.

This is one of my favorite restaurant in Chennai. I once headed for breakfast. Me and my friend ordered pongal and Podi idly. It tasted real good. We didn't stop with that we also ordered ghee dosa each separately and later on we ordered rava kesari which was super yum!
The service was also very good (Mr. Alagesan) made sure that everything was fine during our visit.

If you are in the mood for pure veg. south Indian food/tiffin - you should try ID. This branch brings high quality staple south Indian veg. food to the neighborhood.
The service levels were good and we noticed the staff took good care of the guests - calling out Alagaesan specifically who took care of our table.
If you like open kitchens with food getting prepared close to the dining area - you will like this setting.

ID is one my favourite restraunts. I visit ID on weekly basis. The ambience ,food, music, service of staff is very good. Mr. Noor is always friendly, welcoming, hospitable & provides excellent service with always a smiling face. It's the friendly nature of staff like Mr.Noor that motivates customers to revisit the place again. ID is fantastic!
