So one night we decided to go some restaurant in ECR road and landed on this Monk’s plate. Had Singapore noodles 🍝 which was super spicy 🥵 🌶 but delicious 🤤 as well . Also had chilly paneer which was way better n tastier than other restaurants. Other bowl is of Non-veg soup which I cannot elaborate much as it was order by my friend.
This place has its own surrounding and a bit small where you can’t go with large number of people but yeah you can check for availability and go. I would highly recommend this place for group outing but not for family outing as it’s a bar come restaurant so!
Very good ambience in a lovely location of ECR. Food is good and taste can be improved. Cocktails is a must try though a bit expensive. One of the rare bar in Chennai who serve Hooka in the roof top.

We ordered BBQ chicken wings, prawn tempura, loaded French fries and Mutton Sukka (which was day's special) for starters.

The place and ambience was really good, the staffs were friendly. The bartender knew his stuff. The drinks were really good. The road view is amazing. I will say its one of the best in the ECR. They had a theme going on when I went, it was very pleasant.

Monk's Plate is one of my favourite places to go out in ECR. There are many outlets, but I personally love Headquarters! The ambience and music is awesome. The staff members are superb, they handle everything so smoothly, that too with humour. I always include the Monks Plate special pizza in my order. It's a thin crust pizza with veggie toppings. It's my favourite. Their Pork and chicken tandoor items are also excellent. Overall, superb food, superb ambience, superb staff, SUPERB PLACE!!

I ordered a couple of beers( would recommend Hopper's wheat for a mild taste with an smooth after finish). They also have nice cocktails and can be modified on your request.
Coming to food, their Asian cruisine is really nice. I ordered Tom yum soup, basil dumplings and paneer satay. All were well prepared and absolutely yummy.

Overall a good experience. The food and the drinks were good .decent portion size and tasty. To give a classier feel they might want to reconsider the material of their plates .feels more like a cafe than a lounge bar .The chairs also are not the inviting type that lets you relax and spend some time ..rather it gives you a fast food ambience. The place is a refreshing change and worth a visit .
This is a nice and quiet place to hangout on ECR. I liked their ambiance and the good part was that they don’t play their music too loud which all other pubs does. They have a great collection of liquor but their prices are on the higher side. For food I have one word - awesome!
A new place, we had to try it. The exteriors are beautiful...a nice cozy diner inside. A lovely bar and menu too. We thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. Pulled pork bao, Toddy shop beef, Nasi goreng and Whiskey orange chocolate mousse. To critique them, the egg on the Goreng was overcooked and the mousse had no orange to speak for. Nitpicking perhaps but will be nice to see attention to detail. In my opinion melamine plates don't go in a restaurant. Will be nice to see better crockery and cutlery. Look forward to more outings. To start with, the ambience is nice, the people are quite friendly, and the music they play is trippy. Some of them are nice, some of them, not so much. Anyway, I’d give some brownie points for that. Coming to the food, we ordered one portion of potato wedges, which was out of the world, probably the best I’ve had in recent times! Chicken wings could’ve been better I thought, cuz it was a little too sweet for my liking, and the quantity was less as well. But the Chicken with cream cheese, mashed potatoes and rice made up for it. The mashed potatoes was seasoned so well, and the rice was good as well. The chicken went really well with whatever was on the plate. I’d definitely go back to this place again! 👍🏼

A new stand-alone Resto Bar on ECR! That is good news for Chennai. Visited Monks Plate for lunch and here's my top favourites.
Chicken Sui Mui with yumm dips. One of the unexpectedly good starters.Prawns Tempura: Crumb fried medium sized prawns that were sooo damn tasty and yeah crispy. From the desserts section, Simplicity wins with Sticky Rice With Coconut Icecream, which was simply yummy. For those who would like an actually hot and spicy Chilly Chicken, you must try it here. This and their drinks, hot combo I say 🌶
From the drinks section, I tried the Cosecha Tarapaca Chardonnay. Well, that was the only one from their white wine section and I guess good one. I also went in for my all time love Baileys. So happy they had that. I tasted the Dreaming Monk mocktail, ordered by my friend and it was quite impressive. Full of fruit juices, medium sweetness and well made.
We shared the Onion chowder soup, which was damn good.
My friend went in for the peanut and raw mango bowl. I suggest one should start having this as soon as it arrives as the more you delay, the crispy peanuts start getting soggy due to the mango and other elements. Good one with drinks.
I had ordered a chicken satay but didn't like it much. The chicken chunks were soft and cooked proper, but the marination had a strong taste, probably lemongrass.
For the Main course, we tried a few dishes which the chef gladly served us in tasting portion, basically with meal of one style presentation.
Lamb chops with green pepper sauce and roast potatoes with Spaghetti pink sauce. I liked the lamb chops and potatoes here, not the spaghetti.
Butter garlic fried rice with chicken bokchoy with shitake mushroom sauce. Every ingredient was like custom made for me.
On Chef's recommendation, we tried the Chilly fish bao, which had the same spice levels and flavours like the chicken chilly. Nice and spicy and the above was very good.
We tried another dessert, the Whisky Orange dark chocolate mousse. There was no orange in it. Was like a regular mousse. I didn't like the presentation in the small plastic container.
I don't eat pork or beef, but they have both on their menu and the Chef has confidence that the recipes are very likeable.
Regarding the ambiance, the place can very easily be located as it is bang on ECR with the name designed nicely.
The Monk is all over the place placed very creatively amongst structures, paintings and quotes.
The basement has a party area, while the rest bar is on the first floor. I quite like the interiors, just that if it would be fully packed, might become very crowded.
Visit during lunch hour got delighted by their ambience and good food , nice place to hangout during weekends and evenings , they do have some good offers going on , will visit for sure again to try their signature drinks....

Monk’s Plate is a new restobar located in ECR. It is span across two floors, one being a space for parties and to cater for events, which also includes a dance floor, and the main resto-lounge is at the first floor of the building. They also have an outdoor seating area, which I guess would be great in the evening. The interiors are a bit thematic with some thoughtful design elements that pertains to the restobar’s moniker.
FOOD:-
We tried two starters - ‘Chicken Toddy Shop Fry’ and ‘Prawn Hargow Dim sum’.
The ‘Chicken Toddy Shop Fry’ is a spicy Kerala style dish which tasted absolutely delicious, it is one their famous signature dishes and a best seller there. This would work brilliantly with Alcoholic Beverages.
The ‘Prawn Hargow’ from the Pan-Asian section tasted good, but I felt that the stuffing lacked a slight punch.
We ordered two beverages - ‘Zen Garden Cocktail’ and ‘Fizzy Monk Mocktail’
‘Fizzy Monk’ contains orange juice, peach puree, soda and crushed ice. The mocktail was fairly good. My friend seemed to enjoy the cocktail.
From the Main Course, we tried ‘Cheese and Mushroom Stuffed Chicken with Cream Cheese Sauce’ and from the Pan Asian section -’Butter Garlic Chicken Fried Rice’ and ’Stir Fry Lamb with Oyster Sauce’.
‘Cheese and Mushroom Stuffed Chicken’ was presented beautifully with mashed potatoes, grilled veggies and some buttered rice. The Cheese and Mushroom flavoured the Chicken well and it was enjoyable. The Fried Rice and the Stir Fry Lamb was very good, it worked well together.
Overall, it is a good new place with relaxing ambiance and pretty decent food. They have some amazing offers going on now, so do check them out through the Eazydiner app or website.
Found this place yesterday and loved it ! Great place to be. Food was really awesome. The people over there makes you comfortable with their smiling faces. Good party space too.

A must visit place if you are in Chennai-ECR. The cocktails are fabulous and authentic, after a long time I had some great cocktails in a stand alone joint. The food is amazing, we tried the lamb, chicken satay, grilled prawns and pork baos and they all tasted phenomenal and unique. Service is prompt enough. This place would surely keep rocking.
