One of oldest restaurant in this are easily identifiable by there old fan regulator ..as far as the food big fan of there chola poori and ghee roast worth the price and more over its the memories that made me right this review ...hope it stands tall till the years to come
I have been twice with my friend to this place. We had meals, chappathi and dosa. The chappathi was decent, dosa was good and the meals was good, filling and the rice quantity is more than enough for a person. A normal eating person won’t be able to complete the meals on their own. A foodie will be very happy to complete the meal and taste all the varieties – two types of sambar, rasam, curd, 2 poriyal, payasam and appalam.
I have been growing up with this shop since I was in 1st std and it still exists and I'm glad about it , one of old hotel in Besant nagar , it was so famous and leading way before vishranthi , murugan idli shop .its been there for around 16 years as far I knw. Very normal seating with about 25 ppl to fit in .tiffin is best there - dosa ,vada, pongal , poori is my fav and once in a week we ll get food from this place either take away or dine in .this place has got so many childhood memories for me .
This is a decent place. One can't just go and expect restaurant "Ambience" for the price they pay. Decent pricing, Hygienic food. No complaints.
When you enter inside, you just feel whether it is 2016 or 1990's. That was ambience you see. Very old. But who cares, when you get hygienic food. Everything was displayed in the menu was decent. Price also appropriate
One of my regularly visited hotel in Besant nagar !
Probably you might feel this place looks very old and is not hygienic, but it ain't that way. Have been here twice, The food here is just too good especially normal Tiffin items. Very good service. Their Sambhar is excellent. Pocket friendly.
dont judge book by its cover
excellent place if u r luking for good food rather then show off
eat good pay n leave
not a hifi place
never left disappointed in this place
eat idly n dosa for this place n finish with ginger tea opp to this place at lovely bakers
i bet u will love it
value for money place easy on pockets
A decent vegetarian restaurant, nominal prices. We usually take out meals parcel frm them, when my mom is out of town. Meals, dosa's are pretty decent for the price.
As a Bessie resident I was quite regular to this place. I found this restaurant very decent with respect to the service, food quality and hygiene. They are known for their tiffin items and meals. You can always prefer this place for a decent breakfast or lunch. I am sure you won't be disappointed.
Dont get bogged down by the dull interiors of the hotel . It is one of the best value propositions in besant nagar. food taste is good, though not great. Sambar especially is good. jump in if u dont want to go to a crowded place or have only some money in your pocket !!!
A budget hotel in the neighbourhood for a quick meal. The tiffin items r pretty decent served with 3 types of chutneys and sambar. Particularly idli, dosai n vadai r very good when it is piping hot. Hubby is a big fan of their poori n masal. M Not a big fan of their lunch though. If they concentrate a bit more on cleanliness and on the sambar it would be great. Both for breakfast and dinner the tiffin items get over pretty quick. By 9pm on a weekday they run out of idlis.
The hotel is good i have dinner and lunch. Its not so much costly its good for a budget meal or dinner taste is good. A little cleanliness is missing but still good hotel for a quick breakfast or lunch or dinner
One of the best vegetarian south Indian restaurants I found in Chennai. The taste is authentic. Must try when you are near Elliot's beach.
The food qas too good especially dosa. And I loved it.But the place should be maintained well in future.
Very old shop which maintains the taste. Lately I started to get a feel that the taste is changing. I used to visit whenever I go to Bessy beach. Their paper roast is too big and sufficient for two.
Somehow it's not an affordable price for middle class people.
But service is good
Food quality is good
Easy and quick billing system
Good interactive owner and servers
Quiet place
Overall experience was good food was served hot but plates were small it's not too costly overall good
Their gobi manchurian is the best!! Best had with fried rice...the quantity for price is also very good...would definitely recommend
Good place to eat south Indian items. Decent and well maintained. A nice place to eat, around besent nagar, not too far away from beach. Sambar idly and chola Puri was great. The coffee tastes really good. Economic, inexpensive and well maintained place to have a good meal.
Quite a old place and of course looks old and the ambiance is not fancy but the food tastes soooooo good. The idly is literally is so soft and tasty with the yummy sambar. The ghee roast is just awesome and too big too. Totally a great place for yummy tiffan. Also to mention the coffee is just great.
This is a small vegetarian eatery with ample parking facilities. This is located right behind the vannanthurai bus stand on MG road that leads towards besant nagar. The food is amazing. The quantity of side dishes provided is truly an excellent portion. All breakfast tiffin items are phenomenal to say the least. The vegetarian lunch options are great. Service is great and with a smile. Card payments are accepted. I would vouch for this eatery on any day.
Good place to have food... The quality is in it's peak. Cooking oil are not used again they are telling. Wow foods with little bit expensive...
Best place for vegetarian food in a budget friendly price.
A very homely hotel. Nice place, very calm. Good is excellent and highly economical. I have been visiting this hotel for the past more than 15 years. But if you want show and flutter, this is not the place for you. I strongly recommend this hotel for everyone.
Awesome Dosai. I liked Onion rava masala dosai the most. Will surely taste from here whenever going to Chennai.
