Tried jigarthanda and it was so splendid! Could not have asked for more, it was delicious like hell! The best ever jigarthanda I have ever tasted!
Nice traditional drink for us the taste was very good any creamy Sania seeds and ice cream on top worthwhile for given money available sizes regular medium and large not that much seating capacity available but ok over all good one
Good place which can't be missed for any reason.... Price is less and worthy... taste is excellent.... Service is good.... Just give a try you may like it
This outlet satisfies your Jigarthanda cravings right to the point !
After trying Jigarthanda in quite a few places in the city, This tops my favorite list !
Nothing much to talk about the ambiance or Service.
They are pretty average, considering the costing and menu range, I kinda think it's okay to be this way.
Being in a tropical country like ours means we have to keep ourselves hydrated. One of the best healthy and cost effective way is to quench our thirst with Jigarthanda.
Jigarthanda is a milk based drink, which is sweet in taste, It has generous amount of Almond gum (badam pisin), Chiya seeds or Sabza seeds and some jelly. In most places it's served with a scoop of home made ice cream.
Blindly go and have their Jigarthandas. They have all the above mentioned ingredients in the perfect combination. A perfect drink to be had anytime of the day !
Price - depending upon the quantity and the kind of ingredients you need it varies between 80 to 120. Which I think is just perfect !
Bottom line - Pocket friendly paradise for Jigarthanda lovers !
Went for an Arabian food joint at Saidapet and saw this shop nearby. I haven't tasted Jigarthanda much.. But this one is awesome. Especially the ice cream on the top. Can't find a better dessert. Better than the so called Royal Falooda..
Jigarthanda is a dessert variety which has its strong root and originated from Madurai!!! Have been to Madurai plenty of times and every time I step in, never once missed to pay a visit to 'Vilakuthoon' and 'Famous' Jigarthanda. Both these have carved a niche for their brand and ppl throng to taste this dessert.
Now, was missing this lovely drink in Chennai and though there were numerous outlets it's not authentic as provided in Madurai. When I came over the name 'Madurai Vilakuthoon Hanifa' jigarthanda, never had a second thought to taste the scrumptious dessert 🍨
Stepped into this outlet and went for Jigarthanda special and Nuts n dry fruits jigarthanda. Well, was it authentic as in Madurai ?? It's a big yes!! It was superbly tasty n yummy and being exhausted by the scorching sun ☀️ this came to be a heaven. What makes their dessert stands apart is the exact proportion of the ingredients which are aesthetically prepared!! The main ingredients are Badam pisin(gum from Badam tree), sabja seeds, agar agar(china grass), ice cream and topped with basundhi. All these churns out to be a fantastic dessert!!! The service was good and nothin much to barge.
Would strongly recommend to step in to this outlet to taste the authentic Jigarthanda in our city!!!

Went for some work in tnagar and suddenly noticed this place on the way....decided to try it after seeing the word "jigardhanda" in it.....and ya ,as per the name it's a special shop for jigardhanda and falooda ...taste is excellent and I loved it.... ambience can't be cool since it's a small shop...but the dessert is good...another must try place 😍👍👌
Tasted the jikarthanda for the first time... So i dnt knw the real taste of it... The taste in here is really good... Will visit again...🙂☺
A small outlet just exact opposite to Vivek's showroom in North usman road.
It's mostly stand and drink kind of outlet with few chairs put out on the sides.
The menu has both Jigarthanda and falooda. Heart said falooda but being in Jigarthanda outlet and had N times of falooda, went for their signature drink - Jigarthanda
Not sure of how the original vilakuthoon Jigarthanda would taste but my friend who accompanied me tasted the original said it's quite upto the mark of original vilakuthoon Jigarthanda.
For me i had Jigarthanda in multiple places in chennai including murugan idli kadai. On Comparison, this tasted better. But still cannot judge that this is the best as I yet to taste the original in madurai.
A decent outlet to satisfy your thirsty throats.
A very small but yummy joint for faloodas and jigirthandas. Jigirthanda was good but falooda was the best. Must be tried by all falooda lovers especially in this scorching heat when you head to Tnagar side for shopping.
If lassi is for Punjab, jiggirtanda is for Madurai. Such is the popularity of the drink. I have always been a fan of Jiggirtanda and have tasted this drink in many places in Chennai. Some were decent and others were horrible, like the one in Nalas appakadi. But here in Madurai Vilakuthoon Hanifa, the drink is simply magnificent. Yes it's the original Madurai drink which was hugely praised all over the Tamil Nadu.
Located between the Bazullah signal and Joy Allukas in tnagar, the shop at first site resembles another road side tea shop. But thanks to the big hoarding above the shop, which says the name of the shop. Street dog in the parking, fly's on the table and cheap quality plastic chairs welcome us. But I always believe the best lies only at places like this.
The menu card had 3 variant of jiggirtanda and other add ons like Falooda, milkshakes and so on. The staff was very friendly and delivered the drink in less than a minute(it's self service). The drink looked majestic- ice cream scoop on top , basanthi- badam pisin- sapja in the middle and China crass jelly at the bottom. It was perfect for the scorching heat in Chennai.
I using the 'Little' app, paid only 50Rs for this 80Rs drink which was kindly accepted by the shop owner. A must try drink which is perfect for our city.
its been a long time since i had jigarthanda. my uncle took me here this evening. its easy to locate. parking is difficult as it doesn't have parking space for cars. evenings can get really busy here. and traffic is a problem. it was pouring heavily and yet crowd in this shop didn't reduce. service was real quick. ordered for regular which costs 60/- there is mini, regular and special, you can choose accordingly. you can pack it or consume it immediately. packing charges extra. i am not a huge jigarthanda fan. i liked it. my cousin loved it. will i try again? yes. i didn't find the place very hygienic. suggest you to apt for parcel.

There could be 'N' number of Jigarthanda places in Chennai, but nothing can be as authentic as Hanifa's. The famous Vilakuthoon Hussain Jigarthanda dates back several years and it was a great to know that one of their branches are in the vicinity of the city.
It's in the Bazullah signal, next to Prashanth tower Joy Alukkas. It's highly impossible to park 4wheeler outside this eatery.
Ambiance is outta discussion here as it's completely open in the front and plastic stools to sit. Yet its not shabby and can have a takeaway if you are still conscious.
Had the Hanifa special which had almost all the essential ingredients - flavoured milk, badam pissin, a dash of nannari syrup, sabza seeds. They also have improvised with ice cream and jelly. It was refreshing and perfect for the scorching weather.
It costs from Rs 80-120 ( A price range you can never see elsewhere ). Its self service and they dont make you wait long.
A place close to my home, yet it took me this long and the scorching summer heat to spot it.
A very small shop right at the junction, near joy alukkas, with just few tables, akin to any small tea shop. Don't expect a great ambience. And it's a self-service shop.
I ordered Jelly Sabja Jigarthanda. It's is made with regular ingredients like Badam Pisin, Milk, Sabja Seeds and readily cut fruit jelly is added to it. Advantage of this dish is that home-made ice cream (another dish on the menu) is also added to the Jigarthanda. It was very good, in taste, and far better than other "Jigarthanda" available in shops nearby (though I have had better Jigarthanda in the countryside). Consistency was also good.
I saw them taking a while for making Faloodas but they make it properly with freshly cut fruits.
They also have a good variety of fruit juices and ice creams. I am lucky to have spotted this place and now I can quickly go for a good drink to quench my thirst in this hot summer.

Location & Parking: At the start of the North Usman Road that leads to Joyalukkas. The shop would be the first thing you shall notice while you are travelling in Chennai’s heat. For the two-wheelers it should be easy to park before the outlet.
Ambience: A small shop similar to a juice or ice-cream parlor that could seat 6-8 people at a time. Have your drink and walkout, which would be the ideal thing.
Taste & Variety: There are good number of chillers that would be perfect for the heat. As their name goes, they have jigarthanda, faloodas, ice-cream and shakes. Got two mini Jigarthanda and one homemade ice-cream. That was just like the one you can get at Madurai and non-commercialised; with lavish amount of badam pisin and the delicious flavor of homemade ice-cream; for Rs.40 that was just perfect. That homemade ice-cream, almost 5 scoops for Rs.30 and the taste - a simple homemade vanilla ice-cream which tasted heavenly.
Quality & Quantity: The quality is good but they shall show extra care when it comes to cleanliness. The quantity is perfect for one person.
Service: Almost like a self-service but they are fast and no complaints here.
Price: Pocket-friendly and perfectly priced.
Madurai Vilakuthoon Hanifa Jigarthanda! One place that definitely serves a good jigarthanda.

Located on the Usman road right next to the Joy allukas building this is supposedly the branch of the one in madurai...Jigarthanda is drink that originated in madurai as we all know...but there are many who claim they are the ones who started it....And i seriously have no idea about the authenticity of the news...As an individual i have been a regular customer of the jigarthanda served at murugan idli kadai..and i liked it..so when there was a new option available they why not try it...and after 6 month finally made it....
This is a small takeaway kind of an outlet..though zomato mentions them as just a takeaway center they have made arrangements to seat around a dozen people...not a clean of the ambiance..the place has a deserted look..not a kind of a thing i expected for a popular outlet...but i can also be the reason that i visited them around 4pm...There were 2 people serving the customers...were friendly and quick...jigathanda was ready in no time..
I ordered a Dry fruit special jigarthanda...it was made in the same way as their counter part the murugan idli kadai with badam pisin, milk cream, sabja(Basil seeds) and was topped with something they called as the dry fruits paste...ya the dry fruits were added in a form grainy paste...so the flavor of the dry fruits was in the paste and the crispiness of the nuts too wasn lost..The drink was really good..perfectly chilled and well made..was really thick and not the watery stuff we get elsewhere..the dry fruits paste was just too good...but the one problem i found was that the few nuts seemed old just couple of them might be......which ruined the taste a bit...
Was priced at 80rs and with the quantity and taste was definitely worth it...if not for few old nuts this would have been an awesome experience...but nevertheless Madurai Vilakuthoon Jigarthanda is way better than Murugan Idli Kadai's jigartahnda and is totally recommended....basic ones start form 50rs and have varieties with jelly and fruit stuff...They also have another outlet in triplicane area next to hotel sealord...across the ratna cafe signal...
Summer Special - Madurai Vilakkuthoon Hanifa Jigarthanda:
'Jigar' can be translated into liver/heart/soul/mind and 'Thanda' meaning cold. The drink has it's origin from Madurai. Jigarthanda is made by mixing badam pisin, nannari sharbat, sugar and milk cream with an extra layer of basundi. We can either go into further details or ditch the whole thing and just enjoy a glass of this lovely drink.
I had my Jigarthanda shot from their Triplicane branch. There is one in T.Nagar too. Prices in the pictures.
Trying out Jigarthanda for the first time, I guess I didn't land at the wrong place. Have been hearing it all along these days from people but never got a chance. A red signal tat the junction turned my attention to this place which is easily noticeable. I read the shop name as 'some Madurai Jigarthanda'
Since I was having it for the first time, I experimented it with a mini Jigarthanda for ₹40. Quite awesome! Freak dessert. Consuming it two/three glasses will take you to that 'cozy' state especially if you have it after a heavy meal. On loving it, I went to the counter and asked for a jelly Sabja Jigarthanda for ₹80. In a brief time I got it and it was also marvellous. Seriously impressed with the stuff.
There isn't much about ambiance all as its a quick joint. Its worth a try! Definitely.
Yep,Madurai Vilakuthoon now has another outlet in chennai. This ones in usman road bang opposite Viveks showroom.A tiny hole in the wall shop which specialises in Jigarthanda and home made ice creams.I have been to this places many times in the past few months.IMHO their Jigarthandas are better for what is offered in Chennai but definitely any closer to the ones I've had in Madurai.
Thee items are priced below 100 mostly.SPL Jigarthanda costs 60,medium one costs 30.ice creams cost 20-40.
Good place to have madurai famous jigarthanda. Neatly arranged and maintained shop. Good taste and refreshing flavours available to enjoy with our family.
Great. Not like Madurai but yet the taste is exemplary
Service is good
Special Jigarthanda ₹80
Normal - ₹50
Price is worthy.
Ambience and seating can be improved.
Awesome taste and famous shop in T Nagar. After long-time having it and it's the same taste.
Love it !!! Basanthi is a must try.. it's just so delicious. Wanna experience Madurai vilakuthun jigarthanda in Chennai then this is the place for u..!!!
Jigarthanda was so refreshing and had perfect quantity. Just one jigarthanda here can run yourself for many hours without draining.
During my visit, Basundhi isn't available so had to pick only normal jigarthanda.will come again to try their spl jigarthanda ❤️
I don't know the original madurai jigarthanda, but this feels a lot authentic. It's like an every week must have snack for me. If your mood isn't good just go there to have a chilled jigarthanda. As the name suggests,it really does cools your soul.
Offcourse the same Authentic Original Madurai Shop
The taste is just awesome
Quantity is little bit taste satisfies more than enough 😍😋
Jigarthanda is famous in madurai because of this shop and they kept the name as 'Famous Jigarthanda'. They have started many branches in tamilnadu and tnagar branch is one among them jigarthanda is good but i feel the taste is not same as what we get in vilakku thoon main branch. Normal jigarthanda 40rs and special jigarthanda is 60rs.
Good but they increased the price rate, sometimes we need to help I understand that so the price rate is not a problem but though should not increase the price rate regularly be fair it will help your business next level, all the best try to give the best service to the customer you will automatically grow in life and in your business... my best wishes 👍
Justifying special Jigardhanda at 80rs.
Two shops that never made disappointment in T.nagar
1) madurai famous Jigardhanda
2)Gandhi sweets (boli)
Its Great!
Jiggarthandas tastes different, yet delicious!
Nice environment, not much crowdy at t nagar
The taste is just awesome.I loved it 💯
My favorite madurai's original Famous Jigarthanda available here only in chennai
I cannot fathom how such a simple drink could taste such delicious. The texture is absolutely creamy. Really very sweet and cools you down on a hot and busy day. This place serves the most authentic jigarthanda. Really a must visit.
Wow! The best and authentic flavor from Madurai. This is one of the finest chains that still preserves the authenticity of Jigarthanda.
This place is legit. Had seen it previously on Kodambakkam high road but never got around to making a stop. On the hunt today, managed to look it up to this new location and wasn't disappointed. Was pretty much identical to what I'd get in Madurai. Hope the place does good business and stays open. I'd definitely frequent.
