Tasted a good south tamilnadu biriyani(Dindigul Biriyani) at chennai after a long time.
Good Taste..Good Service..Reasonable price.. All The best Team..
The best ever Non-Veg meals I've had in recent times Mutton kola urundai was awesome Prawn chukka was nice but not too great and no complaints as well... Two akkas who serves food there are very humble and they explain you about the dishes when they serve you Overall experience is awesome with good service and awesome food
Awesome and clean food.. Fully worth for money..

Oh wow! A lovely South Tamil Nadu meals after a looooong time!
This place has been on my go-to-list for a long time now. This afternoon looked great for it because I was craving for meals.
Place is not hard to find on the main road of OMR service lane. I had couple of hickups getting here. Crashed my car on the divider entering the service lane (my bad), Felt like a bad vibe but I was totally wrong!
Small neat place, I was welcomed by their staff immediately and took a seat. Ordered the fish meals. It consists of meals + omelet + fish fry (sankara) @ ₹249.
Got served immediately by Vicky their waiter.
They serve 4 types of thokku first. It consists of crab, kadai, prawn and karuvadu. Rice was hot and nice. All the thokkus were amazing! Not a big fan of karuvadu but it was still good. They also give nattu kozhi and fish curry, rasam, moore etc.
The service by Vicky and the other akkas were very polite and genuine. Homely feel was there. They ensured my banana leaf was never empty and kept me engaged. Had a quick chat with the owner at the end and understood that their masala were hand ground and no additives are used, which is easily felt in the food. Stomach feels light after heavy meals. Good to see such places do good for customers with excellent taste.
Overall a very satisfying meal! My craving was completely taken care of by the food and the excellent service. Will definitely be a repeat customer.
Cheap and best place for South Indian non vegetarian food. We tried non veg meals and prawn Chukka. Both were great. Their Thokku provided with the meals were so yummy and spicy especially karuvadu and prawn thokku.
The restaurant is meant for non veg lovers like me.. Who loves to eat white rice with all non veg thokku's (chicken,prawn,fish,crab).. I would say its worth the money..

Great taste... one of the typical southindian style fir decent price. Kola urundai, mutton briyani, chukka are the highlights... friendly.. who ever comes in car u find it difficult to park since it is in service road near tcs
The best place for sea food meals. Visited the place multiple times and will recommend to anyone who craves for homemade food. Their seafood thokku is worth the distance I travel.
It's a small hotel on omr. Visited this place based on good reviews from my colleagues. Must try kola and nonveg meals with three gravy and four thokku (prawn, karuvad, kaadai and crab) and it's all unlimited. If you are visiting this place then make sure you are reaching the place by 12:30pm else you will end up waiting for your turn.
Best Non Veg Meals
Place: It’s a little bit difficult to identify this place quickly. But it’s right there on the OMR road next to Karappakkam Signal / just before the Karappakkam TCS office. Look out for a green board with the name :)
Ambience: It’s a place where you don’t want to look anywhere else other than your elai (banana leaf). It’s clean and well maintained.
People: well this place gets quite crowded during lunch (which was it is famous for) but the people there manage it well. They will suggest you what you can try and are easy to understand when you have a feedback. You have to follow up on the orders when the place is crowded.
Food (Lunch) : This place has the best Non Veg meals. I have been here a dozen times and have tried nothing other than meals. They do have briyani’s as well. The meals start with different non-vegetarians thokkus (pickles sorta) and then the curries - best in the lot. The sides are also good we have had issues w.r.to the quantity a couple of times and they changed it for us. Brain and chukkas (mutton and chicken) are a must try. They finish the meals with a small serving steaming hot payasam.
For vegetarians - you have the meals with veg sambar and couple of curries but that’s all there is.
Cost : Definitely worth the money and it goes easy on the wallet for such a sumptuous meal.
We had NV meals here. The food is over delicious. U get 4 thokku and 4 curries. It’s hard to taste all 8 curries and none taste similar. We also had prawn and mutton chukka both were good with roasted curry leafs topping. Highly recommended mess....

A worthy non veg meal !!! As we all know, it had 4 thokku and 4 kulambu varieties.
Prawn thokku, Crab thokku and meen kulambu was out of the world. It was truly truly delicious. Karuvadu and mutton kulambu was also good. Others were average.
Food is really served hot. I would suggest not to order any extra sides as the thokku and kulambu largely fills our appetite.
To finish off, payasam is served hot and delicious, It takes all the spicy and hot feeling.
Service is quick and great. Overall a worthy meal for 140. I repeat just 140. 🙂
If your non veg lover ,don't hesitate to venture into this mess.
Unlimited meals with varieties of curry items..
Usually go with my teammates, well satisfied lunch.
Tried prawn chukka🦐,crab omelette 🦀 ,really satisfies our appetite.
Good customer attention ia given by Staffs..

A right place for the one who prefers typical South Indian Chittinaud kind of food.. they serve varieties of non-veg thokku, which adds flavour to the taste buds... very economic for the varieties they serve and that too for unlimited meals...
We were at this site nearby and we're looking for a good place to eat lunch .. while reviewing came across this place... On a hunch visited it and was not disappointed.. actually was amazed at the place..small.. non discriptive looks... But comfortable and air conditioning was OK .. BUT the big point was the food... WOW... The fish was fresh, soft and so was the chicken in black pepper gravy... All together a gastronomical experience..and then came the shocker..this bill which was way below the average one would expect... The only thing missing was a decent dessert menu... Never mind the tasty food compensate for it... A must try place...

Spacious with lot of tables. Average ambience.
Service : 3.5/5
Very good service. Lot of attention for customers.
Food : 3.5/5
Items ordered : Meals, Karandi omlette, chicken 65, Mutton chukka.
You get 4 types of non veg gravy with meals. Dry fish, prawns and kada are 3 of gravies. Gravy and rice are unlimited.
Must try dish : Meals, Karandi omlette
This is one non vegetarians must visit place. Authentic non vegetarian meal with add ons like chicken leg piece, mutton chukka, nethili fry, nandu omlettes were our picks. Each and everything was truly exceptional.
To know all what you get in their meal spread, check the images to know the list. Rs.130+GST is a great buy for the authentic taste they maintain.
Sometimes ambience doesn't really matter where you get some real good food so I would recommend don't expect anything great on ambience here.

After all the hype and reviews in WCE Facebook group, decided to visit this place for a weekday lunch.
Note: I travelled from siruseri to karapakkam and it was a tasteworthy travel. Sema satisfaction pa!
This is the one stop place for unlimited nonveg meals with 8 unlimited gravies!!! Read that again!! The meals was totally worthy!! Pukka chettinadu style dishes that tingles every bit of your taste buds!
4 thick gravies: kaadai, karuvadu, nandu and prawn:
All four were seamlessly cooked with South Indian chettinadu spices and everyone would ask for more!
4 kolambu's: Mutton, chicken, fish and egg. When you mix it up with the gravies the food gets so yummy! No compromise in food's taste. Plus u get rasam, buttermilk and end with payasam.
Totally worthy for 130 rs When u get to taste almost everything available for a non veg lover. In addition we ordered pepper chicken and that too was way too good!!! The perfect use of pepper and not making it too spicy.
Karandi omlet was the only disappointment as it dint match any standards! Hope they can improve on that.
The service was quick and prompt. The IT makkals are crowded here and they should expand the dine in as it's a very small dine in area!
4 different kothu
karuvadu, nandu kothu, era kothu, super especially karuvadu kothu vera level
Recommend : karuvadu kothu
Shop is small but also clean. Response also good by servents. Sunday will rush during lunch time
Just go and eat fully 😍
Speciality is they hav variety of gravies for rice ..all tasted gud
Karandi omlette is ok...pocket friendly 😋
Gud maintained and well served
One of the best pocket friendly places you could find to eat some traditional South Indian meal in chennai! 😋
Ambience
It's a small place in OMR. Some people do have an idea that a mess is never clean and so on. But this place was so clean and tidy that you can go as a family or with your friends and enjoy your meal.
Food
*NOTE - THIS PLACE IS SPECIALIZED FOR NON VEGETARIAN DISHES AND I DON'T RECOMMEND VEGETARIANS TO TRY THIS PLACE .*
They provide unlimited meals (non-veg) for just ₹130. Please check out the pictures I posted and you'll find what you get for the price you pay. You'll be amazed! I just loved their 🦀 dishes. Apart from the meals, I tried their Kaadai(Quail) fry, Brain fry and Nandu (🦀) omlette. These dishes truly belong to Chettinad cuisine. They are simply authentic and flavoursome. 😋
To conclude, I'd recommend this place if your looking for some budget place to have a good meal along with meat.
We tried the Unlimited meals with 4 thokku(especially nandu, prawn and karuvadu) and 4 kuzhambu for the cost of Rs.130. The food was awesome, especially the special Chicken Muthiri Varuval which had two leg pieces was at its best. Do try their Mutton Milagu Chops and Naattu kozhi fry. The best is every gravy has its own taste. But the Karandi Omelette could have been even better The final touch with the sweet Payasam was very hot and yummy. It is definitely a worth for money.
I went for the first time today and enjoyed the tasty Mutton Kola Urundai, Mutton Milagu chops along with the mess's special Nandu Omelette.I will definitely visit frequently. All the Non-veg gravies and thokku provided with meals were awesome. Highly recommended to all Non-veg Foodies. The rates are also reasonable.
We went to muthiah mess accidently...food was ultimate especially spl meals and karandi omlette. 100%sure that price is reasonable with Food and quantity.. Must try this
OH YES! Best meals I have ever had in chennai! Must try the milagu chicken chops!!!! Truly exceptional food coupled with good service at affordable pricing! Vera level!
After having seen a video on fb about this place decided to pay it a visit for lunch. It was on a public holiday weekday (Good Friday) so did not expect much crowd from the usual IT hubs nearby. I was wrong! Reached the place at 12 30 and by the time service started the place was jam packed. The place is pretty small with only around 7-8 tables and nothing much of an ambience. There are no menus but instead a couple of big boards on the walls with their menu. I decided to go for the Muthiah meals, a Nandu omelet, fish fry (Vanjaram) and mutton chukka. Unfortunately kola urundai , one of my fav chettinad dishes was not available. The meals was served with 4 thokku ( crab, prawn, kadai and karuvadu). Though no pieces in these they tasted heavenly. The chicken and mutton gravy was also real good and reminded me of eating in a karaikudi home. To be noted that though it was a non-veg meals I did not recall even a single piece of meat served as part of it or the gravies. The only drawback of the place was service as the sides ordered came really slow but again given the crowd I can excuse them ( so crowded that ppl were actually standing behind ppl eating- not comfy at all! But you had to do what u have to do😬) overall bill came around 580 which i felt was reasonable. I was chatting with the owner who said that he did not expect the mess to be such a hit in such short time. He also recommended to try their biryani next time. Overall a very satisfying mess experience without spoiling your stomach with harsh and commercialised masalas! We need more of these kinda places !
The best place to have a bong veg South Indian meal in Chennai. Very reasonable prices and the taste was💯💯💯💯. The way the serve in the banana leaf and the taste of the sides they give. They nailed it
Had Mutton Biryani, Kari Dosai, Mutton chukka, Mutton milagu Chops with Paratha. Ambience was mess like as the name suggests. But the food was great, nothing to complain and awesome value for money, worth going for it if you like Chettinad type of food.
Nonveg meals was good. Chicken 65 was good with less quantity, 6small pieces, omlete was good, nalli chops was ok, bill was 845/- for three people.
Again, on a Friday afternoon craving for some good food, came out of the office with my usual lunch partner. We set out to try something new. Just browsing the Zomato saw the pictures in Muthaiya Mess, banana leaf, old style (authentic Tamil style) dishes on a banana leaf made us to try this place.
First if you are not looking for authentic mess kind of Tamil food or if you are too much worried about ambiance then don’t even try here.
For others, who love food as long as it is good and neat, let us see how our experience goes...
It is like you need to go and chose your table. Don’t expect anyone to seat you there. If you do then you may be waiting forever. So we just picked a table and sat down. Couple of other guys came and joined us. Needless to say if there is an empty seat in your table anyone can grab it. That is how it goes.
The waiters were friendly and quick. Used very good banana leaf to serve food. We ordered non-veg meals. They had meals combo. The waiter explained us the combo meals how it is cost effective. However, we ordered one combo with mutton cola urundai, mutton sukka (which should be boneless but most of the Chennai restaurants serve sukka with bone. Good to see that here it is boneless) and omelettes.
They served the meals with Thokku (a thick gravy in 4 varieties Karuvadu, Kaadai, Nandu and Raal (Dry fish, Quill, Crab and Shrimp/Prawn). It was very nice. They also had Chicken, County Chicken, Fish, Mutton and more gravy. I did finish with just Thokku as it was very tasty. Just tried fish Kulambu. It was okay (may be I was full by that time) 😊. Then finished the lunch with Rasam.
They had Vanjiram Fry and lot of other things. But could not try all. May be next time. 😋
Very good experience after a looooong time. The rates were also very less.
We both loved it. On our way back to office, we were discussing in quote...
“Nowadays we don’t go to this kind of restaurants but to the high end multi-cuisines restaurants expecting this kind of taste, end up paying more at the end complaining that now a days no good restaurants out there.”
I think we should support this kind of small restaurants if you like this kind of authentic food. The taste is better than the other high end restaurants. I will try to go often hereafter.
Ambiance - Just Pass
Service - Very Good
Cost - Very Good
Taste - Very Good
Muthiah Mess. Nice food, service and average ambiance. Ordered chicken 65 briyani, Mutton chukka, Vanjaram Fry, Idly with chicken gravy and Karandi omlete. Briyani tastes is good. Vanjaram fry is average. Idly and Chicken gravy is average and Gravy is little spicy. Karandi Omlete is good!!!
This visit to the restaurant was a sudden plan to us . Went through Google and found the nearest hotel and dig in for Lunch.
AMBIENCE:
Small but neat and clean. Table for 4 seems cramped may be.
Service:
I saw one or two review which said it's not good. But I found it good. As soon as they see u with empty leaf they will come to your service.
Food:
Me and my BiL ordered combo meals ( Nytheli Fish and vanjaram fish combo)
Nytheli and Vanjaram deeply fried but No oil dripping , 5star for that and taste also good.
About the meals they served 4 types of kothu ( fish, nattu kzholi , mutton and crab I think) , and those very very delicious. Then followed by 4types of gravy
1) Mutton
2) Chicken
3) Fish
4 ) Nattu Kozhi ( I think)
Then the usual items:
5) Veg pooriyal
6) Rasam - This was ok
7) Butter Milk
8) Finally payasam
All were very tasty and I would say 250per meals is worth..
Muthaiah Mess a perfect place for a person who has love towards authentic Tamil Nadu cuisine. Strictly for NV's. you have good number of varieties in the menu in which majority of the dishes happen to be really good. Do try out their Non veg meals, Mutton biriyani , Mutton chukka & vanjaram fish fry to name a few. Its a small restaurant which can host about 20 people.

READ THIS REVIEW ON SOCIAL MEDIA. FOUND THIS IS OPT THAN I WRITE. It was ecstatic .
The boredom on weekends is definitely a mess. Everything right from waking up in the morning turned out sore. Was missing my home food. So decided to go out n eat some Kaarasaara kind of food (like Priyamani eating Kari soru in Paruthi veeran movie 😋). Was searching places to eat in social media but ended up seeing the routine kind of Chain of restaurants where they serve all kind of foods in one restaurant itself. Wanted something specific n mouth watering. Some of the posts i looked upon in WCE and found this one. Slurrppp ... what I was seeing in pictures was exactly what I wanted to have on that particular day. Without any pause, i decided for the food hunt at Muthiah Mess at Karapaakkam. Wanted to taste their Side dishes as they looked like Mouth watering ones. so dragged three of friends into this plan (Sometimes being selfish does good for others too 😀). Finally landed at the place to experience the experience (Seriously.. it was )We are three of us ordered 1 muthiah meals and 2 mutton biriyani,1 mutton chukka, 1 mutton melagu chops, 1 pomfret fish tava fry,1 mutton brain roast, 2 karandi omlet,1 nandu omlet, 2 Mutton kola (avlodhan😜)
Muthiah meals (Banana leaf) 130 rs
Unlimited rice and gravies. First item kept on the leaf were 4 thokkus (Prawn, Nandu, Kaadai and Karuvadu). The texture of the thokku was thick and tasty. Then the kolambu (chicken kulambu, mutton kulambu, natu kozhi kulambu and meen kulambu) with rasam kootu, poriyal, more and sweet is limited.
Well all the kulambu have their own meat flavour . Along with the masala , it tasted very well. The distinct gravy of the four was Green chilly chicken kolambu. The rawish tender green chilly flavour tasted well with rice and stimulated more hunger in stomach. Of all the gravies what I liked the most was Meen kolambu. Watery one with desi taste. The taste was really awesome. Natu kozhi kulambu has its own natural flavour. All the thokkus reminded me my native place. U will drink the rasam coz dat tastes dat good.
Firni - A kind of payasam made of Rava. i was told its mainly for digestion. I smelt a flavour of cinnamon in firni. And yeah the sweetness was perfect and tasted great with sara paruppu and ghee.
Mutton biriyani 170 Rs
Is made of seeraga samba rice with mutton boneless pieces served with thick onion raitha and chicken gravy, mutton gravy and firni.
Biriyani tastes the typical dindugul biriyani ( prefix ur mindset this is not our chennai basmati biriyani ) it comes with lil in quantity than chennai briyani. They serve briyani with a Iron bowl which I had seen once in Venu briyani , Dindigul. I would say the taste is on par with Venu briyani. When briyani is made with basmati, the ingredients will not be seen as mixed with the ricei see here in most of the places, but in dindugul biriyani u ll find only rice and boneless piecess. I asked how the briyani is made. They said that the process of cooking is called as 'slow cooking' (quite surprised and was eager to hear more about it)They said the briyani tastes well only when it is slow cooked which means the masala of briyani is made to mix with the rice well in low flame. Also the softness of mutton pieces matters. Mutton is cooked well and it is definitely a matter for taste in this briyani.
Mutton brain roast 120 rs
I usually dont eat brain roast in all other shops coz none of our restaurants in chennai has dat fresh and lil crisp in in edges. Here i found roasted curry leaves and brain were roasted well in tava and it was dry with lil crisp masala on top of it. Made with black pepper, this fry will take you to a 'whoaaaa!!!'
Pomfret tava fry 250 Rs (whole fish)
A full fish was made roasted in tava with flavour of pure coconut oil. Masala was binded perfectly and served with roasted curry leaves and some masalas
Mutton chukka 140 Rs
Its pieces were very small and in its own size. I felt this is the original chukka with small and boneless pieces. So that the masalas were blended nicely in to meat. U can chew the juicy mutton pieces.
Nandu and karandi omlet
Karandi omlet was fluffy and soft
Nandu omlet wil make u order one more
Expect lil delay in fish and omlet since they make it afresh.
But that doesn't matter if you want something your tongue needs right?
As a whole experienced an experience at Muthaiah Mess. And it's definitely worth the cost. Decided to come for atleast once in a month.
Enjoy your food at Muthaiah Mess.
Happy Eating :)👌👍
All Foodies who love Madurai style dishes can pitch in here !! They do make worthy mutton biryani using seeraga samba and yummy mutton chukka which will make your taste buds go wet ! Must try !! The only downside is, the dishes are in less quantity and service ppl should put on some courteous smile towards the customers
One more weekend and the search was on to try something new. Muthiah mess it was this time. It was a small restaurant which can accommodate 15-20. The restaurant was just been opened a week ago when we visited it. Tried meals, fish fry and karandi omlette. Meals comes with four non veg gravies. The special part is the thokku which is served with meals. I must say it's out of the world. Fish and chicken gravy were too good. I don't personally like the mutton gravy. Fish fry was properly cooked with perfect flavours. Karandi omlette too was good. Definitely visiting this place again. Do try this place if you want to try proper homemade non vegetarian food.
The food is very tasty and its a normal food outlets where you cannot expect any ambience.. However they still have a AC hall.. Biryani, Mutton chukka, Chicken chukka, Podimas(egg buri), Parotta, Egg Dosa and Chicken Kothu Parotta is also good..
5 starts absolutely for Chiken Chukka..
Had a stomach full meal at 150Rs. It has a good taste of south tamilnadu flavor.
Hotel ambience is ok and it is small to accommodate people at peak time.
Service needs to improve as it is taking too much time to get the order food.
Just one word... Amazing. There might be huge variety of dishes go for lunch and have their Muthiah Special Non-Veg Meals which is an eat to die palate...which has some 8 non veg items which all equally mouth watering. We had this along with mutton chukka and Chicken leg piece mundhiri varuval. Man what a taste - Chicken leg piece mundhiri varuval is their special and it was a hard-core item to eat for but it is available only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunchtime.

Good place to have seafood like it is done at home(tamilnadu style ofcourse). They serve this thokku style of meals which is very unique. They served 4types of non veg thokku, which although looked similar tasted a lot different. Fish fry was just ok. I went at 1.30am and could not try their egg kalaki or kola urundai as it got over pretty soon. Dine in facility is average. But I think you can get parcels quickly as well. Staff were very prompt and service was good. Looking forward to visit again
A small place at OMR. But it's worth giving it a shot. This is heaven for people on budget. If you are looking for budget eats, then this is one the places you must visit.
The food's great here. It's basically the southern cuisine(Chettinad & Madurai). They have one awesome deal which is the show stealer. They provide 8 varieties of non veg curries for meals which is UNLIMITED!!!😆😋 This unlimited meal doesn't go deep on your pockets. It's ₹130 only. Yes you heard me right. 😉
They do have other dishes like Nandu omlette, kaadai fry, boti, etc., They are specialised in Nandu(crab).
On the whole, this place should be on the meat lovers wishlist.😉😋
Best place to have lunch. This is real paradise for non veg lovers. Here lunch is cost just 130 and they are providing 8 variety of non veg gravies. Karandi omlette is awesome taste. Must taste Nandu omlette. More value for the given cost.
For Rs 130 unlimited meals with 4 types of non veg thokku and 4 types of non veg gravies and unlimited rice. Side dishes also priced nominal. Service is good. Space is small for the crowd they are getting.

Mutton cola 2 pieces ₹60...
Very tasty and unlimited meals, gravy also unlimited...
Awesome meals. Seriously their way of serving is outstanding. Unlike others they have their own style. Gravy like Nandu, Prawn, Dry fish(karuvadu) everything awesome... People don't feel tired of serving, so energetic. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Excellent place for south side tasty meals.Extremely pocket friendly.Small place though.

Traditional Southern Tamil Nadu non-vegetarian hotel. Quality is good. Less crowd during weekend. No Biriyani served during Sat and Sun nights as less crowded on those days. Taste of Parotta, Kari Dosai and Kalakki are really good.
A value for money place if you're a non vegetarian, especially if you like seafood. Fish meals is served with prawns & crab thokku.
Had meals from Muthiah mess today. I suggest you to taste Sound Indian meals from here atleast once.. Nice approach from staffs.
Please try mundhri chicken thats the highlight.

Food was really good in reasonable price. But they should reduce waiting time and need to improve serving.
