It's a ok place. Cakes we're good but the shop inside the bakery - I think shakes and creams was very average. Pani Puri and bhel Puri was a joke. Tasted stale

A well established place for desserts and breads in adyar. It has always been our spot for pastries since childhood. Nice spacious area to chit chat with friends. They also sell variety of baked goodies. My regular order for past few weeks has been the eggless Choco truffle. I found them to be very inconsistent as the cake's texture kept changing whereas the taste remained the same!
PS. Don't buy their packed macroons if you have already tasted the classic French macroons and the very famous Thuthukudi cashew ones. These packed macroons have a funny taste.
This is a great place to get pastries, have been coming here since many years, my favorite here is the chocolate eclair, it is filled with sweet chocolate filling that you will only get here, they get sold out fast, so its always better to phone them up before going, so you know that they have what you want. The place is quite simple, a few table and chairs, the cakes and pastries here are great.
Nice place to have snacks. They have a good collection of patties, pastries etc. Sitting area is also clean. You can try many food items here if your workplace is nearby
I cannot really remember how many times I have been here...should be over 100 times..
Just for my fav Apple cake.. I tried apple cakes in many places.. But you get the best apple cake here in Adyar bakery.

The place has remained the same for years and haven't modernised it. And their franchising model has affected their brand image

Really good for cakes, pastries & snacks. No need to think much if you wanna have some pastries, just go there n have it. Delicious. Their snacks & sweets are also very good
Had a quick snack here in the evening. Pani Puri and Caramel Custard.
Though the quality has taken a hit, Adyar Bakery still stands on the Top 10 list for a quick snack.
They provide good quality cakes in reasonable price..we order most of the bday cakes for our colleagues from here..their blueberry cake is top notch..choco truffle cake is also good..
Caramel custard is perfect.
Chocolate mousse is good.
Irish coffee cake needs real improvement.

Adyar bakery had the best eclairs in town. Also this is a pocket friendly place for many school students over the past multiple decade. I have been going to this place for over 18+ yrs right from school days.
Must try: Sugar coated cream bun, eclairs, tiny square pizza. Plum cakes
It is a pocket friendly bakery in the neighborhood. Everytime my parents visit the adjoining supermarket, they bring back pastries for my me and sister. The Irish Coffee cake, the tiramisu, the black forest cake and the English triangle cake are my personal favourites. Recently, I tried out their cupcakes. They were delicious too. Their birthday cake range is also pretty good. Haven't tried the chaat here as yet but the bakery has some really scrumptious treats. Give the pastries a try if you're around this area! :)

Some outlets have a goodwill associated with them and the value remains intact despite years passing by. Adyar Bakery is that kind of place and I have been visiting it on and off for the past 2 decades. Though it hasn't really expanded in a major way, there is some charm about this bakery which makes you keep coming to this place again and again.
The making of cakes have widened the horizon and there are so many specialisations of it in various forms and factors. Adyar bakery doesn't do any of that and retains it's tried and tested formula of keeping it simple. Considering the kind of stuff you get in the market today, the pastries cannot be termed exceptional but are damn good value for money. Personally have a soft corner fot their chocolate eclair with the layering on top and cream oozing out from the inside and also their apple cake is top notch. Even their other simple ones like the Pista, chocolate etc hold good to this day. On the savoury side, their variety of puffs are decent and they also deserve thumbs of for the single piece big size Veg Tropicana and Palak paneer pizza.
They also have chaats under their armour which I haven't really tried much. The seating space is comfy enough to just have simple bakery products. Usually prefer parcelling and having at the comfort of home.
Places will come and go but Adyar Bakery will always remain and have a special place in the heart of those chennai vaasis whose trust in their products never ceases to wane.

I hold very fond memories of this place as i grew up around this place. Cakes for birthdays, puffs for afternoon tea, Butter Biscuits for visiting friends and family. This place is a legend and legendary.
The aced themselves when they opened Shakes n Bakes where me n my friends spent many afternoons chatting away hogging on theirs snacks n delicious sundaes and icr creams.
I visit this place for a trip down memory lane and nostalgia overload.
Their tiramisu is definitely among the best in town. Lot of variety on the pastries compared to other outlets. Car parkingnis a plus too. Nice place.

Another legend of a place in adyar. They have started branching out into newer cuisines, and we aren't sure that works entirely.
There is parking. It's not always adequate, but the effort has been made.
There are ramps everywhere, which is sadly rare in Chennai.
There is no decor whatsoever. Just a large hall like room, tables in the middle. The bakery counter is off to one side and the chaat counter off to the other.
The service is spotty because of the crowd. We understand that handling large crowds is hard, but it can be frustrating.
The food is a little patchy. Pizza, samosa, puffs et all can be avoided. They aren't terrible, but have some odd flavours.
The chaat is the same. Not bad, but miles away from true chaat flavours.
The cakes, breads, cookies and pastries are simply tremendous. Don't expect delicacy here, they specialize in large size and large flavor! Some of the bread and cookies are very unique and all of them are delicious.
Pricing is spot on. We love the incredible value the cakes and pastries offer. The prices are miles below the competition, and while ok, the quality isn't as high, it's only a slightly off.
Overall Conclusion: terrific value for money on the baked goods. Stick to the cakes, we would even suggest take them home to avoid the crowds at the shop.

Frequently visit this place to get wheat bread and few other pastries. This is the one of the few places where you get small pack of wheat breads. Their Jam Buns and Fruit Buns are really good. On the other side they serve chat items and tried their Aloo Puri once which was good. Sandwiches are decent. Not many people like the Pizza they serve here, but then it is not a Pizza shop to expect high quality pizza. They serve decent pizzas for a low cost.

TO WHOM SO EVER IT MAY CONCERN

I am frequent visitor of Adyar Bakery branches both in Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur. I enjoy all the food items prepared by your company. They are undoubtedly Delicious to enjoy.
Here I have to bring it to your kind notice, on my simple experience with Thiruvanmiyur branch.
Yesterday I placed order for two Cutlets and two Samosas. Also I demanded for Sauce, which they initially refused to give as parcel.
I pointed out that when visited with family to enjoy your dishes, we used to get side dishes like Chutney and Sauce. This practice still exists.
But your poor employees could not understand my point and repeatedly said that "for parcel no side dish will be given". This seems to be surprising, because every restaurant, hotel uses to serve all these we ask, with some additional charges for packing, which is reasonable.
When I argued, those sweet guys then understood. But they explain this decision is taken by the management.
I do not think the management might have given such instruction. This may be of poor communication or poor understanding of the employees in Thiruvanmiyur. But, I am sure those boys are very kind to attend each and every customer, that is why I repeatedly visit them.
I would request you to give necessary instruction to those boys to see that every customer is fully satisfied.
I must remind that when they refused to give me Sauce with Samos and Cutlets, I asked them to give a bill (including sales tax) with a note "Samosas and Cutlets (without Sauce)". Which they were afraid of giving.
I am damn sure that the management with high reputation would see that each and every customer is fully satisfied, whether they buy or not.

Very good bakery products. Pastries are really tasty...I like their white forest Pastries..
However Samosas, Pattice, sandwiches & pizzaz are not really good. Better not to have them here..
Chaat Items are also really good..
