There sambar is something to which u can give life to. Came to Coimbatore for few days since their sambar got me addicted I repeated eating there day and night. But still felt be when I left Coimbatore. Amazing service by staffs. Never miss out on a chance if u can eat here
Amazing food at Annapoorna gowrishankar outlet. The food is delicious, consistent, and the best in Coimbatore. The staff are ever helpful and ambiance is fresh.
Great food, quick service. We had a good time at breakfast on our last day at Coimbatore.
It is located near the high court and KG hospital and K.G cinemas. The place is always packed because the south indian food is amazing!
Pongal is soft and tastier in this Annapoorna Branch.
Oh my god ! By far this is go to place in the world to have my favourite ghee karam dosa. They make it to perfection and there is nothing you could complain about. Absolute bliss to have their amazing coffee after dosa :) and the meals they serve are worth each and every penny :)
The ghee roast dosa and gadhbad was really something I haven't had anywhere in the world. This place deserves the hype it has. Only thing is we were not able to taste the idli vada as it was not available
Dosa 5/5
Gadbad 4/5
One of my favorite places to head in Coimbatore. If there's one thing that I'll definitely visit this place again and again till eternity, it's the special filter coffee. Boy, the South Indian inside me craves for it every single day and I'm sure as hell I'm visiting this place for the next three days just so that I can enjoy the special filter coffee.
Another signature is the mango milkshake which is definitely worth a try. I've had a nice dinner here with idli chilly and mushroom roast dosa accompanyimg me for company.
Favorite place from my childhood. I love the sambar they give. I visit Coimbatore just for this ghee dosa, idly vada and this sambar. I forgot the coffeee here has a unique taste. Perfect place for breakfast after a jog in race course. Please visit this place and ask the manager to Start franchise all over India.
Their masala dosas and sambar are heavenly and should be on to do list of every foodie.Maintaining the taste and quality at all times, would keep coming back for more.

Today I have ordered food and received in reasonable time. Nothing to say about the taste of annapoorna but only disappointment is we received Onion Raitha instead of Sambar. As we have got enough chutney we managed the dinner. Pls take more care before handing over to Delivery man
Special Breakfast Combo came with Sweet pongal, 1 Idli, Pongal, Sevai, Ghee Masala Dosai and a Coffee. All for 130 plus GST. Other than Sevai all were good.👌👌
This place is an institution. At Sunday Breakfast you’ll find the usual suspects every time. Old schoolmates for a reunion, elderly gentlemen in groups, runners post exercise - all making for high decibel levels. And difficult parking!
The mini-breakfast is a hit. The masala dosa superb. I always start with a coffee and finish with a rose milk!
A must-do if you are in this town.

Just like any other Annapoorna out there. Awesome place, ambiance is not that great as you have a lot of floating people and commotion out there. Parking is much easier than RS Puram.
Hi..This is the first review, I am giving in Zomato app. Very happy to give review for my favourite Vegetarian hotel, Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar.
When the people in Coimbatore thinks of having a vegetarian food in hotels, I think the first hotel which comes to the mind for every vegetarian Coimbatoreans is Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar.
I have been going to this hotel since 2000. This lovely hotel has good ambience.
Well talking about the food, this hotel offers good, healthy and delicious food each time you go. I have tried almost all foods here. My favourite food items includes
Sambar Vada
Brownie Icecream
Mango milkshake
Mushroom masala
Butter Naan
I highly recommend this place if you wish to have tasty vegetarian foods. Don’t wait. Go and enjoy.
Been coming here since I was a kid. Love their dosas and vadas and rosemilk and filter kaapi. Not sure but I somehow feel their quality has gone down a bit (tables not cleaned as quickly, service not as fast, etc). But will be back for the food, its so good!!!
Sree Annapoorna and Sree Gowrishankar. You could find this group of food chains everywhere in Coimbatore. They are well know for their quality of food ( especially Sweets ). They have got a huge reputation that, you don't need to ask anyone about the restaurant, they know it will definitely be the best.
South Indian Vegetarian food, if that came in your mind! Then its the right place for you. Everything's got its own taste. I really love there Mini Meals and Mini Breakfast. If you just try them then you will definitely get an idea about typical south Indian food. Mini meals include a bit of everything, you will get a chance to taste em all.
Hygiene serving... Most of the staffs are polite, I have had worst experience in one of the other outlet. But still they are the best in South Indian Vegetarian Cuisine.
I have tried each and everything from these joint from most of their outlets. The filter coffee is exceptional, I have seen many people just visit here to have just a cup of filter coffee after their morning brisk walks. Sweets are just Amazing no words to describe them. Overall experience with them is just outstanding.
welcome to late lunch and order crispy paper dosa , lots of white - green chutney and sambar.
That s a calming effect to a long day at work and regeneration of energy to carry the day longer.
reach out, eat out.
Have been visiting this place since my chilhood.
The quality has gone down a bit and the place has become quite pricey.
However, this is by far the best vegetarian place in Coimbatore.
Do u love ghee roast? Mango juice, rose milk, mini idly? Look no further in Coimbatore.. good taste and nice ambience for families. There is also chocolate dosa which is nice. Parking outside is not exclusive but worth visiting.
This is my most favourite vegetarian restaurant and dosa place on earth. Their crispy podi dosa and the sweet sambhar along with the delicious vada is my favourite. Their chutney is the best chutney in south India. They have a huge variety of ghee sweets including Bournvita and mango Barfi and also different flavours of Mysore pak such as mango, carrot, etc.
best place for veggies dishes... had crispy rava dosas n flufy pooris. both were awesome... putu was day's special which came with a kadalai curry which was also very good. loved the filter coffee.. juices were nt very good. but wonderfull taste
People's Park is the name of this branch. The place, locations and ambiance is super. And the top hall is an excellent choice for quality chinese/north indian food. The coffee is good added by their usual highlights sambar vada, curd vada, pongal, poori, roast varieties etc., I always eat the following during Dinner at the Top AC hall veg.spring roll, dragon panneer, panneer tikka, panneer butter masala, pudina parota, friedrice, naan, brocoli tikka, brocoli soup, tomato soip, sweet corn veg.soup etc.,
Even when we were outside the restaurant, the aroma of sambar made us salivate! That should set the tone for the meal. Ghee roast, amazing. Not so thin that it ends up breaking like glass shards, but everything just seemed to be perfect with it. Even the sides, the chutney and the sambar were really good. And we also had puri. Comparing it to places like saravana bhavan and A2B, it's the best of the three. Not too oily, very soft, and not crispy. The Potato Masala was also good. Along with 2 coffees, bill came up to 120 bucks. Coffee might be too bitter for some people, but since I don't take much sugar, it was good enough. Maintained very well, despite the rush. Quick and polite service. Would recommend for a satisfying South Indian meal.
Ordered dragon paneer and veg fried rice . During lunch time ! Tasted delicious .the fried rice is on a little bland side & paneer is on a little sweeter side but melts in your mouth . Although this place is famous for sweets and breakfast .. This place is always packed 24*7 ! They have quick service .
Coimbatore Review #104
Annapoorna Gowrishankar has been dominating the food world in Coimbatore for ages now,
I was here for a treat.
Decent ambience
Very good service
Tasty food..
Decent pricing.
Mulligatawny soup was real good.
The starters sheekh kebab and schezwan paneer were too good..
Veg. Chettinadu gravy was fine...
Hyderabadi veg biriyani was too good and yummy..
Veg ball manchurian is a must try.
And finally finished with a tasty rasamalai and an orange county milkshake with icecream.
Overall,
Ambience 3.5/5
Cost 4/5
Service 4.5/5
Taste 4/5
Annapoorna = Sambar !! One of the most popular restaurants in the city. In fact I should say, THE Most Popular restaurant. Needless to say, annapoorna is always crowded, especially this branch if their's is crowded at any time of the day . Inspite of it, they provided exceptional service to us. Kudos to their sambar ! Even if it is not upto the taste that once used to be, there definitely seems to be a secret ingredient. Overall, its Good food all the time :)
Good food at affordable prices. This stalwart delivers consistently day in and day out. Quick and efficient service is another plus point.
This is one of the few restaurants that offers Kuzhai Puttu in Coimbatore (yummy). Other signature dishes include wide varieties of Dosas (especially the Ghee Masala Roast), Uthappam, and rice varieties.
The place to be for good vegetarian food round the clock.

Coimbatore's favorite and one of the oldest Veg restaurants.
Have been here many times and have tried all traditional dishes. The Idly Sambar has been the best and evergreen.
I think they should copyright the Sambar and Filter Coffee.
Actually, they do sell branded Sambar powder if you wish to the recipe at home. The coned ghee roast is a delight since childhood days and even now.
Try this place and your Coimbatore visit is complete...
Highly Recommended!
This annapoorna gives me a nostalgic feeling,it is one of the old branches and used to come here since I was a good, and for ppl of Coimbatore annapoorna is equal to home food, ghee masal roast is my all time fav
The big daddy of South Indian food!
I was in Coimbatore for a day trip and was advised to stop by at one of the Annapurna outlets for authentic south Indian food
Let me confess, I have NEVER had better south indian food in my life!
Every single dish including chutneys was mind boggling. Staff is super courteous and could make out that I was a visitor in the city and paid extra attention to me!
There were 3 servers at any given point in time.
I cant explain and articulate the experience, one should just visit this place.
Glad I stopped by
The very first thing which pulls everyone for many years is their yummy, tasty Sambar !! None can beat the taste of idly sambar served with Beetroot chutney! Dosas (aka) Roast as it is normally addressed here is so crispy that makes you go crazy all time !!
Good food..sree annapoorna and sree gowri shankar hold the legacy of administration and taste culture. An example of history over innovation.
This is the hotel I walk past every weekend, and never entered for a year until one day when I decided to break that.
Pros-
+Authentic South Indian.
+Prompt service- order anything on the menu and you'll see your waiter walking with the food towards you in no time.
+Coconut chutney- It's unjust if I didn't mention it. I am personally a great fan of coconut. Their chutney is a different level. There is a surplus coconut in it that dominates the taste over the gram dal (if I'm not wrong.) And it's finger licking good!
+Breakfast menu, be it on a busy Monday when crowd flocks in or a lazy day when there is sparse crowd here, they run the same way. They have earned exceptional reputation over years and they're still preserving it!
+This place has exactly what is required in a table room to have a peaceful meal. There is no cozy lighting, or fancy art works hanging, just what you need from a food joint.
+They serve atop banana leaf, days have become so mean that serving food on a banana leaf demands a special note.
+Filter coffee, one word, enough said
+Parking for two wheelers is fine, but not a great deal for cars, good luck finding a spot nearby.
+ Cost, this is not cheap, but if you consider the amount of reputation and consistency in food they provide, the cost is definitely a plus. Also if compared with similar legendary places in cbe that literally make you pay surplus for the food this is acceptable.
Cons-
-So they've been in the industry for so long, how does that validate a single piece parotta with kurma costing 38/- that is otherwise sold at 10/- outside. It is this the aspect that makes me feel that they might affect the other restaurants as well.
FOOD- 4.5/5
SERVICE-4.5/5
PARKING-3/5
COST-3.5/5
I always believe Food Industry can be handled better by legacy rather by an corporate house. Annapoorna group is one such example of retaining the legacy in the quality of food and their prompt service.
I had been here N times and they are damn consistent. Best place for a south indian breakfast. the crowd at this place tells the fame of this restaurant. Be it anything from the menu, we can blindly order for it and they deliver the best with great value for money.
This place is not a fine dine restaurant, however the service is awesome catering the huge crowd here. once you go and sit, you would get a tumbler of water in next 2 mins and the waiter comes to get your order in next min. You need not wait for anything here. some times you may wait to get a table in peak hours.
Overall a great place for a normal breakfast/Meal & Dinner.
you can see people comming here right after their walk/jog at the race cource and sipping a cup of coffee with a bite of sambar vada athe the early morning.
Usually you can see 50% of the table filled with plates of sambar idly and sambar vada and 80% of the people finishing their breakfast with the tasty filter coffee.
Hope the legacy continues... (Unlike the pathetic situation of Saravana Bhavans at chennai).
I would suggest Zomato to categorise this resto under "Great Breakfasts" & "Legendary" listing of yours for Coimbatore.
Must combo breakfast, includes all tiffin items. Very tasty, neat and clean. Nice ambience, can enjoy yummy food with friends and family
First time visitor, like their food very much ...very authentic taste, ambience and hygiene are at best.
Sree annapoorna is a good place for snacks as well as lunch . Had little bitter experience this time. The fried rice that I ordered was so much oily and oil was dripping. Would expect better experience next time
The famous restaurant chain of Coimbatore.
Tasty food in a decent atmosphere
Food tastes good but lil expensive.
Fast service with clean and neat atmosphere

Coimbatore famous Anapoorna sambar idly & vadia must taste. Strong filter coffee very much refreshing
An amazing place for family and friends, food and sweets are very tasty and pricing is normal. Very good service and clean environment. Highly recommend. There may be a wait time on busy days, usually about 10-15mins
This is the original restaurant and one that I always visit on my visits to coimbatore. The food is fresh, wholesome and tasty. The service is quick and professional. The staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. The prices are very reasonable.
Had late breakfast here which is crowded, service is fast and ambience is fine.
Tried pineapple kesari, pongal and Sambar vada.. all are good.
Liked Strong Filter coffee too
A good place to have veg food.
Love this place, I have been visiting here for the last 30+ years, I'm addicted to their sambar idli and coffee. For a decade I was visiting almost every evening to have a sip of coffee 😊
As usual the taste and the way they pack is really good . We bought Pongal 😂😂😂 my people call it sleeping dose .... But because of the sambar and the taste of Pongal they ate em all... My try when you guys come to Coimbatore
Tasty idly, vadia sambar mouth watering. Finally enjoy strong filter coffee
Went for the Pongal vada and it was excellent. So was the filter coffee. It's crowded and a little noisy but quite good on the whole.
Newly opened annapoorna here will be crowded with advocates all the time.. food and menus are same like their other branches. They have sweets counter too.
