There's no place better in the town for kerala food. Beef roast and porotta combo is a must try and I am addicted to it. Good food for reasonable price.
The food was tasty and delicious.while regarding the packing was satisfactory.i Hope they havent added too much of colours to the dish and that's good. I Ll look forward for more menus.
The food quality was awesome. The service was good...most of em are in kerla style so you might love it or hate it...but overall the quality was awesome..
We had almost all the meals of the day during our 1day stay at gandhipuram, coimbatore. A clean, tidy, reasonably charged place in the area. It provides a wide variety of dishes with a fast service. Specially loved the parota with chettinadu chicken. Yet the biriyani was very average and not recommended.
Real malabari restaurant which serves flaky kerala parotta ,trivandrum chicken fry ,beef roast and other kerala traditional cuisines. Good service and pocket friendly too.

Authentic Kerala cuisine..had beef Biriyani, with prawns and fish fry.. overall ambience of the place is good.. service is quick..I feel the menu is a bit overpriced..
Kerala everything. The Meen(fish) curry is authentic af; it's no different from what I get at home. So, for all you non malayalees looking to get some God's own country food, this is the place to go.
Specialties: I. cannot. stress. this. enough. GET THE KALLUMAKAI(mussels) FRY. It's not as good as the Kannur stuff, but go for it.
Karimeen fry is also nice.
The place is a little pricey but definitely worth it.
Mallu shop in every nook and corner makes a mallu feel home away from home ! Service was quick. Waiters were friendly. Food was good. Price was right on !
Definitely a place which has come down on its quality. Management has to seriously check what their staffs are doing. I feel their staffs are spoiling the name what this hotel made down the year.
Malabar biriyani still one thing to go here for. BIRIYANI still tastes awesome.
Oh how I love this place. If Im at Gandhipuram, and I crave for those yummy Kerala Porottas, then I definitely wouldnt think twice. Malabar Restaurant is for sure going to be my only choice :)
I love everything they serve here..their Biriyanis, their Porottas, their curries, Appams..all are amazing :)
Try it to know it better ;)

Once upon a time this was a one busy place for all Mallus, everyone's meeting place and the food they served was very delicious, It was very hard to get even a table when you go there. They served great foods then. I would have visited more than 30 times here for sure. but their standard & taste in food came down last few years. My previous 4 visits didn't end up well, i was really unhappy for a restaurant who served such great food had come down so bad in quality & taste.
Recently i had a visit, Biriyani did taste good like their olden days, this place need to bring back their old charm. They badly need to improve their service.
I am rating them high for their great old days & for my last visit serving me with good biriyani which made me think of their old good days.
I went to this restaurant for the first time 6 years ago. there was no grill chicken that time. ;) :D
I used to have Matta Ari - Brown Rice with Chicken 65 or Mushroom chilli. Boiled properly to its temperature. - Good for health and digestion. Gives full energy.
Recently, about 3 weeks ago i went fully drenched in rain, to have dinner.
Grill chicken was served with Mayonnaise. Awesomeness was to its peek.
Mayonnaise served its purpose even with Dosa and Parotta.
Finely Grinded Tomato Chutney gave its best combined with Dosa. (totally Crumbly).
Malabar Biriyani - typical layered authentic luscious Biriyani - with chicken and egg goes along with the above dish.
With Chill weather outside and Hot black tea - a perfect blend for the dinner. Finishing touch was great. good for digestion too.
Recently i had Chilly mushroom. They use colour for chilly items and may be ajinomoto too. But I told them to avoid both and finally the dish was very tasty and appealing to eyes.
I wont suggest appam here, as recently it was not upto their native styled Paalappam.
Taste and food quality 4.5/5
Ambiance - 3.5/5
Hospitality - earlier it was good. now it is pathetic. 2.5/5.
Overall 3.5/5
Cost Approx for 2 - Rs.400
Ideal place for family dining. and must try place for Malabar/Kerala Food lovers.
Malabar good food @ God's Own country's 'cuisine :)
Very Good Restaurant for Kerala authentic foods we had chatti choru (all mixed) taste was good.. and good quantity also.
1.Pakka Kerala Restaurant if you want Kerala foodie.. try here.
Overall Good..
Limited Car Parking only.. otherwise Ok.
Food was okay.
Portion, taste was okay.
We ordered 2 chicken meals and fish fry .
Overall we had good experience.
The best restaurant in Coimbatore that provides authentic Kerala cuisines. Tried both Chicken Biryani and Chatty Chori (All mix). Loved both. Chicken biryani has 2 big pieces with adequate amount of masala. Chatty Chori (All mix)had chicken, fish fry, prawns and beef. Fish was Matthy (Sardine). Though the price is a bit on the higher side the quantity of Chatty chor was too large for a single person. Lime juice was also good.
The staffs were well mannered and were there all the time to take any orders. AC dining hall is at the top floor. Parking is hard to find for a car.
When you put the Direction in Google map, it may show the way through the bus stand. Don't take that way as it is closed. Just go straight and then take left turn instead of taking left turn through the bus stand.
The Malabar Restaurant is a Kerala restaurant which is located at Sastri Road near Hotel KK Residency Building which is behind Central Bus Stand, coimbatore. There are many varieties of non vegetarian foods. It takes days to try one food item after another. Food is fresh. Its very well organised. The staffs are good. Pricing is little bit higher, but we can pay for the quality of food we have. Biriyani is famous, chicken varieties, parotta, roast, aapam, chappathi, puttu etc etc. There are varieties of fish, chicken to taste. Really very nice. Just taste for yourself and see the difference.
Good food... Kerala type biriyanis available( not exactly the kerala type... But better than the others onesnin town).. Crowded during peak times... Decent food.. Good option for fish biriyani.. But prawns biriyani disappointed us two times( but the staffs were kind enough to replace the food for us both the time)... Littile over priced
We have tried meals and chicken briyani. Everything was good. Chicken briyani priced at 200 rs which was really high for that. No bike parking. They allow parking for cars only. Non veg meals are also over priced.
Delicious food and wonderful memories of the place. I enjoyed breakfast and dinner frequently for a year in 2008-2009. The owner was a friendly person and I had great conversations with him. Highly recommend this place for authentic Malabar delicacies.
One of the best options for malabar style biryani in and around coimbatore. Kerala special meals is also worth trying. Very much dependable for homely food for mallus. Only smirch noticeable in this otherwise nice restaurant is the haughtiness of staff, who treat the customers as if the customers were in the hotel for food free of cost.
The food was too good Kerala people will love the food and enjoy it atmosphere was neat and okay
They made me wait 30 mins for giving biriyani as we are students they made us wait but food went to the others table in the right time
So i feel workers are lethargic and carless
Very neat and good ambiance and the food servings is also good taste vise it's nice. And affordable also
Delicious food .. we have ordered Malabar chicken, banana leaf wrapped steamed fish and Kerala prantha.
It was finger licking good...
Do visit this restaurant if you are looking for authentic Malabar food.
Has good service and excellent non veg meals provided on basis of Kerala style.
Must try ( chatti choru)
All variety of non veg dishes available ,
My personal.favorite is malabar biriyani that tastes awesome, highly recomemded
Hotel for nonveg lovers and who.likes kerala dishes
Taste service atmosphere all good and great those who want to enjoy fantastic malabari food can land here but I have reduced one point since price are little higher if the margin can be reduced a little I will give 5 star
Best Kerala style restaurant.
Must try dishes - Kerala biryani, fish polichathu
