The taste is very good. An authentic andhra dish
Go to place for Andhra meals in Kochi. If you are craving for authentic andhra meals with Pappu, Gongura Chutney, Gunpowder chutney, then this is the place for you. The seating capacity is pretty huge and also the service is fast. They have got good non veg varieties as well and having tried the King fish fry, I absolutely loved it. Do visit this place if you are looking for good Andhra food.
Nice place should go here... gives the taste of real Andhra food. I loved the Biryani there.. Also ordered some food from them tasted delicious
A little bit high cost but healthy food good service and polite. Very relaxble place and good for family meetings. Tou find as friend of them
Traditional Andhra meals.
Pappu, chutney, podi, gongura, sambar, rasam, and payasam.
Overall decent food.
Place of improvement is ambience. Dim lights are little bit irritating as the food is not properly visible.
Overall 4/5
An authentic place for Andhra cuisine in Kochi. Have tried their Andhra thali meals and loved it. An old building with normal ambience, but friendly staff and good customer service. Recommended!
Everything was good about the food. Ordered Andhra meals and pepper chicken. But they need to improvise on the side dishes and the quantity. Veg meals are worth 170 bucks so was pepper chicken(half portion comes in a saucer plate). Otherwise it was a pleasant experience
I was a fan for their Andra meals... Their dal curry was yummy... But when I visited this time. I believe there was a change in the management or the cook...I don't know... I seriously feel like the taste is deteriorating... Even the friendliness of the staff has changed..
Lovely meals & ghee is lavish. This special chutney they service with rice is really nice. The meal costs 160 though which could look expensive when compared to package served. However! the mango pickle is finger-lickin' good!
I haven't had a taste of Andhra cuisine ever since I left Bangalore. So when my wife mentioned that it would be good if we went some place where we could have a peaceful Andhra meal, I decided to look up in Zomato. Found Chillies near Pallimukku. Initially there was a confusion, because the person who answered our enquiry call answered it as Tandoor Restaurant. Then he explained that they are both the same. Tandoor is downstairs, serves a variety of cuisines. And Chillies specialises in Andhra style. So, around 7:30, we walked into this place. Quiet and peaceful, light music from the FM in the background.
Ordered two full Andhra meals, One Masala Pappad, One Chicken Pepper Masala.
To tell the truth, we enjoyed every bit of it and had second servings of all the sides.
Service was good, they were ready to attend at a moment's notice.
I would recommend it for all the families who want to have a peaceful Andhra meals.

Good food. Tamilnadu style Biryani is different compared to Kerala-style biryani, available in most local restaurants. Liver fry is a good accompaniment. Meals are also good.
Visited the place for lunch. Had biriyani, it was average. The restaurant is also average. Good ambience. Service was above average. Nothing special about the restaurant though.
The restaurant claims to be the only Andhra meals serving place in the city. We went there at lunch.
The veg meals costs 160/- per plate and they offer rice, papad, dal, sambar, rasam, pickles (2), karampodi, curd and payasam. The funny thing was there was only one Vegetable fry and no curry at all.
The taste was okay and makes for a decent lunch. We also had a special dish - chilli chicken Andhra style, it was suggested by the waiter. It sucked big time.
The restaurant is maintained neatly with a subtle environment and the crowd is good. Anyone who craves andhra food can visit here to reminisce their taste buds.

Need to improve service.... We needed to wait for 45
Minutes for veg meals... Not interested to serve vegetarians.. .... Better to improve service......
I have been going to Chillies for more than a decade now. The quality of food has never went down here. If you are in kochi and you want to have Andhra cuisine, Chillies is the place to go. The meals they serve is hot and fresh. The ambience and serving is also pretty good. Chicken pepper fry is one of their specialty and is a must try. The only problem is the parking space, it's hard to find a spot for parking during peak hours.
If you want to have Andhra Meals this is your only option in kochi. Taste is at par with any of Bangalore's Andhra restaurants . And their chicken pepper roast is really yum. Service is also good.
Taste 8/10
Ambiance 7/10
Service 8/10
Value for Money 8/10
How about some yummy Andhra food in Kerala.!!
Chillies is the best choice. Everything served was delicious both veg and non veg. Very economical. And warm hospitality. Chillies will satisfy all your spicy cravings. Loved it.
Fed up of kerala sadya...Why not try the delicious Andhra meal from Chillies..
The place is located in the same building of Tandoor..
The ambiance is quite weak as it is really crowded especially on a Sunday afternoon..
The service also can be worked on..
The place shines its best for its andhra sadya..It really has a different taste than the kerala sadhya..
But they have to improve the other items from the menu though as the noodles is quite dull...
Overall this is an okay place with okay food, excluding the andhra sadya..
But the beverages are a must..
Cheers to Chillies
Meals at night !! Hot steamy rice ... loadsa ghee and yummy yellow daal , red hot mango pickle along with some spicy pepper chicken fry !!! Omg it was yummy... 10 points for it being served on a banana leaf.. !! The ambience felt like It was in the 90's.. lights were white and dim .. the walls crowded with old pictures ... not so many people at the time (past 10pm). But I really like the place! People, those not so fussy about the ambience and those who like simple food must try this restaurant! 🌶🌶
I was having a halt at station for 3 hours and this was the best walkable possible restaurant open at 11:30 am.
Well went there as a first customer had Chicken Biryani and surprisingly the Biryani was having more chicken than rice (as its done in North India) their curd was Okay but the chutneys and the chicken gravy that they serve you with Biryani is so scrumptious you will get into another world! Ambience is like that of old Indian restaurant but what mattered to me was taste and they cheered up my buds. Since the name suggested me to have andhra chillies there but I didnt find it Andhra Spicy TBH but anyway thanks for a good Biryani
Those who don't mind extra spiciness, should definitely go here. I, along with my friends, had Andhra vegetarian meals. It was so spicy yet, very yummy. We also had a Chicken Pepper, which was out of the place. I wouldn't mind going here again.
Chillies the name says it all. Those who have been in kochi for the past 2 decades will surely know this food joint. Those who like Andhra style cuisine then this is a must place to go. I have been here for countless number of times.
The food quality has not went down in all these years.
Specialities - Andhra meals , chicken pepper dry , mutton pepper dry.
I have only eaten Andhra meals from here and will only eat that , purely because of the taste and spread they provide.(please taste the podi and ghee combination they provide if ur trying it)
Staffs also are really help full.
The only problem is with the parking.Only limited parking is there and during rush hour its hard to find a space.
Was at Chillies with a craving for Andhra meals I carried down from the Andhra Bhavan at Delhi....The place was dingy and dark...however the food was good ...We ordered the veg meals with a side ...the chicken I ordered as a side had the Spicy punch you would expect from the Telugu cusine. .but I think I have had better Andhra food...so it just a 3.5 from me ...I would go back to try the other items on their menu but the ambience is a let down for me....
Best place for Andhra food in Cochin hands down. The Veg meals comes with the usual fare of Pappu, rice, chutney, sambar, rasam and curd along with gongura and mango powder. Definitely recommended.
We as a family have been going to Chillies for many many years now. Chillies has stood strong like a tree that witnesses everything around it change while it remains unaltered. The quality of food that they serve is as it used to be.
They specialise in Andhra cusine. We have never explored many options from the menu.
In the last visit we ordered for meals, chicken biriyani and my favorite Chicken pepper fry.
The meals are fantabulous. The one thing that needs a mention is how they serve you good quantity. The frugality in some places manage to irk anyone who goes in search of a good hearty meal.
The biriyani was spicy but the masala was evenly laid out and that helped us enjoy it further.
The chicken pepper fry is one of their specialities. The mere thought of it has my mouth watering. The extremely generous masala paste smacked on to the succulent pieces of chicken and the spice boy oh boy the spice that plays on the taste buds .This dish is a must try.
The food is priced moderately. Most of the times that one goes to eat the price is considered steep based on the experience one has. The quality of the food that is served i.e. fresh right off the stove has one satisfied and the price eventually deems fit.
Service is the only area where they need some finesse. The boys here need to be instructed in two different languages for them to fulfil a request.
On the Rate-o-meter I give it a 4.0
I have been to this place many times and writing this review based on my most recent visit. The service is usual with a few hits and misses. What really differentiates is the ambience and the walls filled with posters of yesteryear actors and actresses from Tamil Cinema. The food taste is really good. One shouldn't miss their Andhra Veg meals. But one thing I have felt is that the taste has come down or maybe I am getting used to it. And then the price is a little steep. For 160 rupees you get the meals and an omelette costs 50 bucks. I find it really high for the overall experience
Best Andhra meals in town. Top recommended works would be Chicken/Mutton Pepper Fry. Not for the faint palates due to the spicy food. Talk to the main waiter guy, he's friendly and helpful.
this is the place where andhra people can relive ther tastes in the hearts of kochi.best if thalis are taken seved on banana leaf with a traditional touch..chicken pepper is the touch among the non veg guys..otherwise veg andhra meal is the go..but sambar lowers the level.

No restaurant in Kochi can outclass 'Chillies' when it comes to customer loyalty. There are die-hard Chillies-fans who sleep walk into this place at lunch hour day after day, week after week, and yet cant seem to get enough of their Andhra meal and Pepper Chicken Fry. ( Ooh! Those flavorsome curries and those wicked, wicked pickles ! ) Service is average, no doubt. But hey, who cares!
P.S: While you are wolfing it all down, you cant help but wonder about the lalitha-padmini-ragini-sobana overdose on the wall. There are a few billion photos of each on each side. And some Gemini ( or is it Sivaji ? ) Ganeshans thrown in for good measure. Overdose is too mild a word.
Have been to chillies a couple of times. Decent place for having typical south indian meals. Service is prompt. Not exactly fine dining, but for the price, you don't expect the pleasantries. Nothing exceptional about the place, but nothing to complain about either.
Good wholesome fiery food at most reasonable prices. Would advise going with enough space in your tummy coz portions are enormous. Very prompt service, shade dingy ambience but acceptable
If you are ordering food in Chillies, you may not expect the food to be spicy as in Andhra Cuisine but the food is very delicious and one must try Andhra meals with Chicken roast.
Chicken Biriyani, Veg Thali and Chicken Roast was great and authentic Andhra style. Service was effecient and courteous. Overall a good experience.
If you have the best andhra meals outside andhra and in kerala, the andhra chillis is the place to be. I am sure you will not be disappointed
My first tryst with Andhra food took place at Chillies. Eventhough everything was a bit too salty for my taste, the food was pretty good. We arrived at the restaurant at 3 pm & lunch time was almost over. So it wasn't crowded and we got pretty good seats.
The service was prompt and the staff was friendly. A few of the dishes were familiar but there were quite a few intriguing ones too. The oddly named gun powder was really an explosion of taste in the mouth.
Chicken pepper fry was quite tasty and spicy and fish fry was also quite good. But the chicken roast had a burnt taste to it.
All in all it was a nice and satisfying experience.
Known for their Andhra meals which are consistent for the past, around ,20 years.
Also try their mutton/chicken pepper fry which is quite spicy( they have toned it down a bit these days). Their biriyani is also good as the chicken is so tender and they provide a spicy gravy to be had along with the biriyani.
The restaurant has got good parking facility. And the staff is quiet experienced and helpful. Lunch times are jam packed.
This is almost an epic place in cochin. .food is excellent but place is crowded often ...eating here is an experience. .old place but tastefully designed..They have limited items on menu and not cheap in quality or quantity or price. ...must go if you come to cochin or ernakulam area though cuisine is Andhra style
Avoid going here with your girl friend. She'll realise the that there is something you are more crazy about than her -The Andhra meals.Paired with a slice of crispy fried fish, this is more psychedelic than a chiranjeevi song sequence.A point to note, even the stone hearted will over eat here, So if you have a post lunch plan, kindly cancel the appointment.
When your heart yells out to try some different category of foods, I make sure Chillies restaurant comes into my mind. One of the best Andhra style food available in the entire city of Cochin (strictly personal opinion :) ) Everytime I visit this place, i order their veg meals/thali along with the "fiery" pepper chicken. The chicken along with the meals combo will definitely make your mouth water. Like i said, its fiery meaning really hot, has an excessive or proper (for some) amount of masala used to get the taste. I definitely enjoy a little bit of 'over' masala and pepper chicken (anywhere) is my all-time favs. :) you might want to chill the excessive hotness from the chicken masalas and other things with an ice cream or a sweet lime.
Chillies doesn't have so many options when it comes to providing a wide range of desserts, so you would need to pick the best and order.
Go for Andhra meals if you are really hungry. This will make you full. The meal is served in a big Banana leaf. You have 3 to 4 sabjees, sambar, rasam and a payasam. Start with rice, ghee and the powder. This is absolutely tasty. By the the time you end up witht this you will be full. I am not a great fan of Sambar here, there are lot of places which serves far better. The quality of service is good. Avoid the place if its crowded, you will have to wait long for a waiter to serve you.
after shifting to Bangalore i became a fan of andhra biriyani and meals; infact i started liking andhra style of biriyani better than kerala. So i wanted my family to try it. One of my dads friend recommend Chillies restaurant close to dharbar ground, so we decided to give it a shot. My parents tried andhra meals, sister chicken biriyani and I chappati & mutton kurma. Everything was as expected, spicy and different from kerala style; they all loved it. Ambience and service is good, was almost full when we arrived for lunch at 1:30pm during a weekday. Found the biriyani and kurma a little expensive when you consider the quantity offered, so giving it 4 stars.
One of the best places that serves Andra cuisine.. The Biriyani is really gud the best thing to have if u have a big appetite is the Andra Meals.. The place is well maintained and provide an ambience that's kinda okay...
While exploring Zomato Kochi when it just started, I was shocked to see that they hadn't included Chillies yet and I immediately shot Zomato a mail recommending it. One of the best and oldest restaurants in Cochin, it is one of the places that i remember frequenting since childhood. Its famous for his andhra meals and I dont think you will find it anywhere else across the city. One meal comprises of rice, ghee, gunpowder, sambhar, rasam, buttermilk, three vegetable side dishes, dal, papad and dessert of the day. The must try combinations are the ghee-gunpowder-rice and curd-gunpowder-rice. The staff are very prompt and the old timers always greet you with a smile. An amazing place if you are extremely hungry and want to have a cheap unlimited meal. Also try some of their chicken dishes. The chicken sukka and roast are amazing!
Chillies above Tandoor was my first tryst with Andhra cuisine years back. This has got diluted a bit over the recent years. The rice with 'Andhra gun powder' is my eternal favourite. Other dishes are a mix of Andhra and Kerala cuisine. Go for it if you want to enjoy loads of rice with Pulusu and powder along with some pickles like thokku. The service though is a big let down, they look at you as of they are doing you a big favour and you are at their mercy. You need to ask for things to get them to the table.
I wouldn't say Chillies is an authentic place for Andhra cuisine. They have taken the original culinary techniques from the Andhra and tweaked them to make new dishes, in a good way. But it is the best for its Andhra cuisine. The service is average noting great about it and so is the ambiance. Food is the only thing you might like here. I have always loved their meals and never really ordered anything else, but the food on others plates definitely looks tasty.
We tried the Butter chicken, Butter Naan with Chicken Lollipop. Everything was really good, had been butter chicken for a while, and it was the right choice to try it here. It was flavourful, the quantity was good. The staff is welcoming, the service is great. The ambience & the music gives you a vintage touch.
Overall I loved the experience.
The culinary experience at this establishment was undeniably fantastic. We indulged in a delightful array of dishes that left our taste buds thoroughly satisfied. The extensive menu showcased a tantalizing assortment of options, each promising a unique and delectable journey for the palate.
From the moment we placed our orders, it was evident that the culinary expertise here was top-notch. The flavors that graced our taste buds were nothing short of exquisite. Every dish was a testament to the chef's dedication to creating memorable dining experiences.
The crowning jewel of our meal was undoubtedly the gulabjamun, a traditional Indian dessert. It was a flawless conclusion to our gastronomic adventure. The gulabjamun was a sublime combination of sweetness and texture, perfectly encapsulating the essence of this beloved dessert.
In conclusion, our visit to this establishment was a culinary delight. The diverse and mouthwatering menu offerings, coupled with impeccable execution, left an indelible impression. And, of course, the gulabjamun was the icing on the cake, a testament to the culinary excellence that this place embodies. We left with contented hearts and satisfied palates, eager to return for another unforgettable dining experience.
The food was just average. The sweet corn chicken soup was good, but corn ,which gives a special taste to it was really less.,but it was served really hot, which was great.Tried the roti and kadai chicken. However found the curry was a bit spicy, which didn't let us enjoy the taste. Tried the tandoori chicken also, which was also good with a nice flavour... The service is really good and the ambience is also nice. The dish too is served super hot in live kadai. However found the dishes were a bit overpriced.
Absolutely fantastic. Dark, elegant dining room. Fast friendly service. The food? Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the mutton curries.
Best Mutton Fry and Tandoori! Great Masala Chai! I do not normally give good reviews, but I have say. Highly recommend the food was awesome, great staff and parking is available. Coming back tomorrow!
Wonderful food and great prices. The Paratha is delicious, the chicken korma spectacular. The portions are huge, I ate all of this food but it is enough for two people, I was completely full after it. Workers are nice and they do great recommendations on what to order.
Tasty foods and good atmosphere. The restaurant seems popular, but international credit card wasn’t acceptable.

A great place for eating out with family. Highly varied cuisine. Must try their North Indian dishes like Kulcha, Chicken Kathi Rolls and Paratha. Parking space is available in an adjacent lane.
We had our lunch on the first floor of the restaurant where they served the lavish Andhra meals. The service was super quick and the dishes were awesome, even more so for someone who had been missing this for more than 5 years..!!! So anyone who is in Kerala, in and around Ernakulam/Kochi and wants to eat Andhra meals, do drive here, you will not be disappointed with their lunch spread served in traditional banana leaf.!
We also had pepper chicken but couldn't complete that fully as the lunch itself was too good and it's unlimited.!
And there was freshly cooked jilebi and gulab jamun for very reasonable price.
We also took a takeaway of the lunch menu, and it was packed well in tight containers.
Overall, I was happy with the telugu lunch at the restaurant and would visit it once more while we are in that area.
Parking is minimal. Gave one star less for atmosphere is because it was over crowded when we were there.
Forever favourite dinner spot for some amazing Kadai Chicken & Tandoori Naan.
Been a regular customer for years and never disappointed. Usually go here for dinner with family.
Parking space available. And good customer service.
Have and Would definitely recommend 💯💯
Chilies located on the first floor of Tandoor serve Andhra cuisines.
We tried their Andhra veg thali and fish curry meals.
Despite the fact that the pricing was a bit higher than average, their food was tasty and of good quality, especially having rice mixed with ghee and gun powder chutney.
Good service and was absolutely a scrumptious treat. Mutton handi didn't have fleshy meat and all the 4 pieces were mostly bony. Both gulab jamun and caramel custard were an average.
Nice restaurant, good food, they only serve meals at first floor, the place had very few Keralaites, they were limited to the ground floor.
Andhra meals was nice and authentic.
Other items in the menu were also good but Mutton could have tasted better.
After searching for Andhra meals around kochi got to know about this place in YouTube and visited this one finally.
Went there on Sunday night after 9pm and half of the restaurant at 1st floor is empty and waited for 10min to get attended, veg Andhra meals priced 181 on menu has been served on banana leaf with dal podi, pickles...
Dal, sambar, brinjal fry, chutney and rasam.
Payasam also given as part of meal.
Dal podi, ghee, chutney with hot rice is just wow.
Other items also tasted and they're good. Ordered and.tasted gulab jamun which is okay.
Prices are bit high, ambience and service is ok.
I felt satisfied visiting and having food in this visit.
The best option for Andra meals. The service is good and hospitality is great. You will find parking very close to the restaurant. The restaurant serve you authentic Andra non veg and veg dishes. We tried chicken item only, heard that mutton items are also a definitely try one. The highlight was the resam they served with the meals.
