Had ordered Veg Meals, Egg Fried rice, Karimeen Fry, Shaap Fish curry
For Veg I would recommend Veg Meals. And for NV guys Shaap Fish curry was one awesome dish. KARI MEEN was worth the money too👍
Kettuvallam has maintained its Kerala style meals and that too has kept the taste quite consistently. The fish items are the great hit. Though a bit costly, the fish dishes are all all very tasty, fresh and appealing to the tastebuds and eyes.
Try their karimeen fry and Karimeen pollichathu
If you love yourself a budget non-veg Kerala meal, this is your place. I love their seafood spread more than anything. Especially the fish fries. Along with the unlimited pulisshery and sambar what's not to love!
Good lunch in plantain leaf. Nice desserts. Worth for 120/- for one lunch. Ambiance is Ok. Good Service. Car parking available in front of the restaurant. Quick service. Nothing too exciting.
Located in business district if Kochi, this us one if the outlets of the famous kettu chain . Modest ambience, quick service , average priced, and great authentic kerala food. Serves are huge and menu has a wide range of options.
Revisit: Yes
If you live within the city and dont want to travel till authentic and famous shaap food restaurants like mullapandhal, nettoor shaap or Padipura shaap then Kettuvallam offers a very good kerala style seafood. I ordered normal meals with fish fry. The size of the fish is quite satisfying and is sufficient for two. Few of the items were overpriced so avoided those. Overall a good place to have proper kerala seafood!
The name is way more appealing than the food itself. Quick go-to place for some ordinary Kerala food. Wish they had more options for vegetarians.
A very satisfying and pleasant dining experience. The food was very tasty. The service extremely pleasant. The bill very reasonable. Definitely worth checking out..... More than once.
The Chinese cuisine and Kareem pollichaythu are the best!!!!Please do try it if you ever visit !!!
Nice ambience and good service.!!! Spic and Span... One the best seafood restaurants in Kakkanad!!!! Truly must visit!!!
My pick of the pocket-friendly seafood places for a long time. However the standards have come down a little bit in the recent past (maybe it was an off-day for them as well). Nevertheless I can still recollect the taste of the fish mango curry and the appams that were served in the evenings. Another of my favourite items from here was the meen pollichathu and squid fry. I have orderd crabs from here twice and both items it was disappointing and infact for the same reason had stopped eating crabs from elsewhere other than shapps (toddy parlours) or shappu food outlets for a long time. Have tried the beef and the duck and there's really nothing to crave about it in them too. The veggies served with the meals are decent and I would still recommend this joint to someone who is looking to grab a quick seafood lunch in the city. Alert - have heard horrible reviews about their Kakkanad (Seaport-Airport Road) outlet and have never been there.
We were passing through cochin on our way to Bangalore , checked Zomato for recommended sea food restaurants and Ketuvallam was the closest. The restaurant is designed to look like a house boat , really great idea, unique and just the feeling of getting into a house boat in the middle of a busy city is amusing and exciting as well.
We ordered the following :
> Karimeen Pollichathu
> Prawn Masala
> Beef Ulathiyathu
> Fish Curry
> Kerala Parottas
We loved all the dishes. Each one had its own unique flavors and me being a malayali myself, it tasted as authentic as it could get. The meat was cooked beautifully, couldn't have asked for a better meal.
Such tasty food they serve, especially the meals and all those sea food. The food just made me happy. And they serve a descent quantity of food . The service is pleasing . For any hungry belly in search of some tasty and worthy food this place is a very good choice.
Visited this place during a quick stop over at erunakulam during our Kerala trip despite a bit of reluctance due to the ratings. However , it turned out to be a pleasant surprise!
Coming straight to the food -we ordered karimeen polichathu , chicken nadan and ghee rice, all the 3 were sinfully tasty and in generous portions. Whoever has rated the food as low, perhaps did not try their highlights...(
The look of the restaurant resembles a houseboat and is simple and neat inside. Management is friendly and apt at ambience. Service is quickkkk!
The food was so lip smacking yet we couldn't finish it due to the quantity served.
All in all, a great experience at Kettuvellam!
A good place. Has nice ambience and the service is pretty good. I ordered vegetarian for a change. Ordered vegetable kuruma which was brilliant and really tasty. Like the true mallu ordered the tea as well. The tea was also really good. Expense wise it's a bit costly but not that costly aswell
It was a nice place and I always had karimeen pollichathu and aakoli pollichathu. But nowadays the fishes doesn't tastes that we'll. But of course the lunch is far better than the "crap" served in kettuvallam near saritha theatre...
Excellent kerala food!
And the entrance to the entrance in the shape of valam ( boat ) is a warm welcome.
A must try if you love spicy kerala food! 😊
Last time I came here, there was an awful smell. Located on the KK Road on the left when going to kadavanthra after exiting the bridge.
The food is quite decent especially the seafood. Average ambience.
I've had good experience here. Love the food. After I got married, I was dying to eat some seafood. My husband took me to kettuvallam. We ordered a fish fry, huge kerimeen, fish polichathu, appam, squid masala and prawn roast. We ate to our heart's content. All came up to 700 something. I have tried the meals as well. That's good too.
Superb Fried Rice with Chilly Chicke and Beef Ularthiyathu. The offer package for Rs 150 for both has an excellent serving quantity and is worth the price.
A place for decent Kerala cuisine, ambience is simple but the afternoon Kerala Meals served on a banana leaf are the principal USP of this place. We ordered a Mackerel mango Curry(aaila curry), Prawn Roast, prawn curry and a beef preparation. The service was quick and food was good, especially the Mackerel, which came in a gravy which had a very distinctive raw mango sourness. All in all an establishment that doesn't disappoint.
I went to their Kaloor outlet. I can't exactly name what I had, but man the food was pretty darn good. The chicken was cooked in coconut milk and was absolutely finger licking good. The mixed veg was drool worthy. Payasam left me asking for more. To top it off, all of this was served on a big banana leaf in a true kerala style.
Only problem with this place is their ambience. Just like Chiang, it is all very compressed and seedy.
5 Stat for taste, 0 for ambience. 3.5 star is my rating.
Last Birthday when my Grand father decided to take me out for dinner. He left the task of picking restaurants to me, provided they served good fish and some good malayalee dinner - Rice that is. This sort of reminded me of how Mr. Ford gave his customers the choice of buying any colored car, provided they are in black. Lol.. So we hit to road only to notice Kettuvallam near Kaloor stadium and decided to check it out. Little did we know that they served amazing naadan King fish curry and excellent fish fry too. Very seldom does a fish restaurant bring a smile on my face and Kettuvallam sure did !
Honestlt its the appearance of a kettuvallam from outside that dragged me in!! Passing by it used to always catch my attention..nice work!!
Stepping in also one gets a similar look.. the tatched roof complements the overall ambience well!!
Now to the food.. i have just been here once and had ordered meals with fish curry.. that was average..not worthy of much praise!!
Pretty good service very agile the guys are 😉
Just another average restaurant..!
Definetly ill update the review after a proper meal of chicken and the other regulars!!
Food-3/5
Servive-4/5
Ambience-3.5/5
This used to be a hugely popular place.. But recently it has been losing popularity... This is predominantly a lunch place... The meals is decent.. And seafood platter which they offer is nice too.. You can pick yours... I have never tried anything except fish and meals from here... As that is what this place is famous for...
Good place to taste sea food cuisines in Kochi. Get a Real kettuvallam feeling entering inside the restaurant. Tasted duck roast. Really nice taste.
When it comes to good taste , the place totally delivers.
Specially known for sea food delicacies.
rates a bit on the high side , but worthy.
(On a general note , i do see a lot of comments about restaurants in kochi offering bad service. That is sadly true. One has to be content with good food, expecting good service with polite and pleasing staff i guess is too much to ask for)
Really authentic keralite food...
.fish fry.. a must try
Great varieties of tasty sea food!!. fantastic fish curries and prawns. Have to wait for long to get a seat there for lunch as too much of crowd there. Ambiance is outstanding.

+3.5
When i visit cochin, i use to be here for afternoon, especially their karimeen pollichadu tastes so good, A decent ambience with good food always stays in you heart.
After finishing my hectic work I thought of trying something new .So I searched in mother google for sea food in kaloor Luckily in search results I came to know about Kettuvallam . I made up my mind and even I got my salary as well. So I went their to treat myself and the place was very near to my hostel . As I entered I observed the ambience and I felt like a boat ride in kovallam and kind of back waters in alapuzha . The waiter attended me immediately and I asked for the menu. Initially I felt some smell of cleaning stuff but after few seconds it all vanished. I scanned the entire four page menu. Their were mix blend of both veg and non veg dishes . But I made my mind that I am going to try Tarav varathu arachade (duck curry kerala style ) and kondal with barbeque sauce (squid with barbeque sauce) and I knew both of this will go smooth with appam,So I ordered pallappam (appam with coconut milk) . I tasted the squid curry and it was like chilly gravy with sweet, sour and salty taste. I really enjoyed the squid with barbeque sauce . Quantity n quality wise- both of the dishes were perfect. Secondly I moved to Tarav i,e Duck curry . The gravy was really rich n tasty and I can feel the awesome aroma of pure coconut oil in it . Every bite of duck was unforgettable . I dont know may be I was eating duck after long time . And last but not least the appam- palappams wow they were really nice and fluffy . Taste wise also Appam go smooth with both of the curry. Finally the Cost will be 220 rupees each for Duck curry and squid curry and for appam its 10 rupees plus some tax . My bill was around 490 . I was really satisfied with the food they had served me . I will definitely recommend this place for others to come and dine. And I will be a regular customer of Kettuvallam from now onwards. Thank you Peace.
Once again I visited this place and I ordered the same dish i,e- Tarav Varathu arachade( Duck kerala style) but now instead of squid with barbeque sauce I ordered Garlic lime fish - fish was so tender and smooth, infact it was so nicely cooked that it use to get melt in your mouth . The masala were simple in it like grated lime, red chillies, garlic . it was a blend of chinese and Indian taste. try it you will once you will definately like it . garlic lime fish cost me around 220 bucks. I told you I'll be visiting kettuvallam again so I visited next night itself. After coming from wonder la .
thank you peace
Very good hotel... Should try the fish curry meals in banana meals... Little congested in sitting but its fine, fish fry is super ans it gives fresh fish
No much space for parking..
Been there once, had the meals there and loved it! Humongous portions and they keep serving you as much as you want. Not really a place with an ambience or anything - just a simple place for simple food. Quite easy on the pockets as well.
Place is designed in the theme of a house boat. Has a good 'meals menu'. You can have a basic meal with any form of non veg option. I tasted prawn and fish options, both of which were good.
besttttt place to have lunch. the unnu consists of 5-6 accompaniments and fish curry and the fried fish along with it is crispy a fresh. if you are in the area don't miss it out.
Its good for fish items though the rates are like star hotels! Koontal fry is a must try, sravu varutharacha curry was good too. The prawn fry is just an utter waste and they charged 600Rs for a prawn fry! Its too high compared to the taste and quantity, Meals were well and good. The parking is bit difficult here.
Nice place to checkout seafood options. We tried Karimeen pollichath and prawns fry along with veg meals. The Karimeen Pollichath came wrapped inside a banana leaf which was amazing to see and to taste. Veg meals was also delicious and also not mention the payasam (dessert) served along with the meals was enough to make our tummy sumptous. Definitely worth trying
The restaurant is very good with respect to food, ambiance and excellent service. I had veg meals, it is awesome and the sambar is different then other parts of Kerala, and also they provided meals in a big banana leaf and the taste of subji is also superb. The restaurant is famous for its sea foods, I tried squid, the taste is superb and I highly recommend this restaurant for your meal at Cochin.
Very good option for sea food dishes, also serve other vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Good ambience and service. Sea food dishes are normally costly and it is the same here also.
This restaurant is a true gem! They serve delicious, authentic kerela food that hits all the right notes. The hosts are incredibly welcoming, spreading smiles all around, which adds an extra layer of warmth to the dining experience. From the flavorful dishes to the friendly atmosphere, this place is a must-visit for anyone seeking both fantastic cuisine and genuine hospitality.
Had one of the best sea food meals ever. No car parking facility they provide. You will get good fish fry here. Price they charge is very high, but the taste and quality for the food have no compromise.
Loved the food. Located beside very busy kaloor kadavanthra road. The food was tasty. We were two in number and had lunch along with Koonthal fry and Karimeen fry. Served in banana leaf the lunch was good with Kerala brown rice and curries. There was a fish curry served alongwith the rice and was delicious. The special sea food were mouthwatering and was rightly cooked. The parking is on roadside and is a menace.
Amazing Fishcurry meals . Oru rakshayum illa.
Beef roast was too good to be true.
Kakka irachi might not be a fan favourite as its not deep friend but its tender gives you subtle flavour of pepper all the way.
Start combo was choru + pulisherry + beef
I recently dined at Kettuvallam, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. I opted for their "Fish Curry Meals," and I was blown away by the flavors. The fish curry was perfectly spiced and had that authentic Kerala taste that I was craving for. The use of local spices and ingredients. The "Neymeen Fry" was a standout. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the frying technique was spot on. It was crispy on the outside while remaining tender and flavorful on the inside. It paired wonderfully with the tangy fish curry.
Authentic Kerala Lunch on banana leaf with mouthwatering fish items. Had rice and curries with sear fish pollichathu and deep fried mackerel. Good service. Ambience is average. Ended with parippu payasam mixed with pappadam.
The food, wow, yum and the customer dealings is kind and polite. They serve meals with unlimited curries and they are delicious. The food quantity and quality is good with affordable price.
Excellent Kerala Meals with variety of fish. Tried the meals with Pearl-spot (karimeen) fry and Seer fish fry. Nicely cooked fries and good side dishes for the meals. The fish curry along with the meals was also good. The meals served on plantain leaf is another attraction. Prices are on the higher side.
Ela Sadya availability.
