Sometimes the smaller outlets serve you food so good that you often start drifting your thoughts toward not dining in a posh restaurant anymore. Every city in this country has one such dhabha or a small joint which serves you lip-smacking food and does not cost you a fortune for it. Located in Supermart 1 of DLF Phase 4, Patiala Shahi is though not a typical dhabha but gives you similar desi feels with its delectable North Indian and Mughlai dishes.
I had gone to Gurgaon to catch up with an old friend of mine and we together decided to grab lunch from Patiala Shahi.
Hence we placed a takeaway order for the following items-
1). HARI MIRCH PANEER TIKKA- Comes with a strong flavor of red chillies, tasted very nice.
2). KADHAI CHICKEN- Had juicy chicken pieces and well flavored gravy. Delish!
3). PANEER BUTTER MASALA- A bit too sweet yet fine in taste.
4). DAL MAKHANI- Had a creamy texture, delectable taste and was also served in handsome portions.
That was all that I had from Patiala Shahi. The order was packed quickly and the packaging also seemed fine.
Check it out for home deliveries and takeaways of you are somewhere near the DLF Phase 4.
My final verdict would be-
Quality- 4/5
Service- 4/5
Affordability- 4/5
On the Whole- 4/5
Delicious butter chicken, kebabs and breads.
Probably the best option for butter chicken in Gurgaon. The gravy is on the spicier side and is not too sweet. The chicken is cooked perfectly.
I've ordered the food yesterday and the food was awesome.. It was a non vegetarian dish, chicken Tawa and keema parantha and it was just awesome.. You should try this for sure.. Will look forward to order soon.. Plus, it arrived before the estimated time..
Decent sitting place. Decent food. Quick service. Good hospitality. I tried mirchi prantha that was actually good...........................
There's a glut in the market for decently priced (read non fine dining) Indian restaurants, and for the most part, every place serves up the same average meal. Refreshingly, Patiala Shahi is different in this respect. The food has distinctive flavour, the kind you look at menus hoping to get out of your food when you taste it, but usually end up disappointed. I have eaten here several times, and have enjoyed everything I ordered. The food is fresh, well made, well flavored, and not excessively oily and heavy. Quantities are also great, and prices reasonable. In particular, I recommend the mutton seekhs, butter chicken, dal makhani, dhaba meat and shahi paneer. An underdog in the market, but great food and can do very well if they maintain their quality and flavour. The dine-in area is small and somewhat basic, so I do prefer ordering in, which impacts the experience a little, but the food still emerges a clear winner.
Nice food, especially kababs and curries. Liked the mutton gravy dishes. Ambience though not very great, biryani rice was also not that great.
But overall a good place to eat north Indian curry and paranthas.
Great food, perfectly value for money, tandoori chicken in too much yum i bet its taste beat the taste of any other palce's roasted chicken.Dal tadka is really good.Kali mirch murgh is smoky.Delivery time is perfect.Keep it up guys.
There are times when you crave for that authentic Punjabi taste in your food no matter how hard you try it yourself you just can't get it right, well good news Patiala Shahi is somewhat close to what you are looking for, tried nearly every Chicken item on their menu and it is flawless! The quantity is humongous especially at a price that low, Tawa chicken is a must try! But you have to ensure that your onions on a takeaway aren't stale, has happened twice with me.
Two things I ordered here, butter chicken and dal makahani and both were just great. Butter chicken was made from shredded chicken and the Tracy was just up to the mark. Tucked in a corner in supermart, it's better to order food at home rather than eating there, since it's small and always crowded. Overall a good experience
Great place for a decent Punjabi meal.
Tandoori chicken was juicy and spicy, the stuffed naans were a delight.
The place is a bit small but you can order online.
Since I'm new to gurgaon, I order delivery regularly. Had been a long time since I ate a good tandoori Chk. I always felt that gurgaon lacked a good tc place but thanks to Patiala Shahi I was happily wrong. Very good tandoori Chk. The host mr Ashok was very humble and hospitable. He insisted that I try the butter Chk as well and thank god I did. Overall a very good experience. If ordering ask for mr singh and u can follow his advice blindly in terms of what to order.
What began as a usual awareness that we were hungry and finding out that it was almost too late to get anything to eat anywhere, we discovered Patiala Shahi because of the bright lights and a rather strange location.
Now this is a small little place that could really do with a nice view, since they really have food to match. However, much more than the food, they have some staff members who can be the nicest, warmest and friendliest waiters in the entire market.
The flexibility of the supervisor and the readiness of the owner to solve mundane issues like asking guests to wait makes the service here very appealing. The limitations of the location have to be noted and the food can go up and down the scale depending on the time of day and the pressures of guests demanding.
By now we have been there about four or five times and I guess we can now write about them with a clean and clear conscience.
I usually gauge my food-jaunts into the following categories and then note them based on a maximum of 5.0 points:
1. Ambience [decor, acoustic and overall eye-worthiness] 2.5
2. Menu Choice and Variety 4.0
3. Staff Friendliness 4.5
4. Hygiene 3.0 [Location creates limits]
5. Value for Money 4.0
6. Portion size 4.5
7. Parking 3.5 [General Supermart problem, not to be attributed to the promoters of the restaurant please... please]
8. Taste 4.0 [had a fluffy naan after ages... was a dream]
9. Music 0.0 [could not hear anything due to the cricket fever that was on TV]
10. Feel-good high on leaving 4.0
Graded on 9 factors...
Personal note: I have been asked as to why I never put up pictures. Frankly, I do not believe in them. A frozen slice of time never justifies the 'here and now', which is why one goes to eat and enjoy. Make your own opinions on presentation, taste and experience and be happy with it.. :)
We were roaming around in super mart 1 and trying to decide where to have lunch. Since we did not want to go to any of the regular places in the area, therefore most of the places were ruled out. This is when we saw this restaurant, and though we were not very excited with the exteriors, we still entered.
The ambience is just about okay, but the staff is very good, and the food is actually out of the world. We tried the mutton and chicken dishes, and were blown away with the taste- very nicely cooked and served well. The quantity was quite good too.
A place to be visited often!
Found this place strategically placed on the corner of Supermart 1 complex ! We were keen on Chinese mail but liked the look of this restaurant from outside ! We're not disappointed and we walked into a gracious attendant who made us seat comfortable since my wife was down with cold .. Switched of AC..
Tried non veg platter in which you can choose 4 non veg starters ( only boneless) .. Though I was a wee bit disappointed they didn't have tandoori chicken ( my favourite ) on platter . Very satisfied with quality and quantity . Kebabs were hot / crisp / fresh and served with green chutney and onions and 2 rotis.. 500 bucks for a delicious meal with a coke is a blessing in today's gourmet restaurants which have almost 30-40% as taxes .. Very happy and will visit again
A very authentic punjabi tatse is what this place offers, totally a take away place but really offers good options for non vegetarians. Haven't tried the vegetarian atuff yet. My favourite : boneless tawa chicken
Great chicken biriani and the Afghani Tikka are a great appetizer. That, along with the dipping sauces, make this is some of the most unique North Indian food you will have in the area.
simply the best butter chicken .... kebabs are awesome... mutton shaami.. lahusuni and kali mirch tikka were nice.... dal tadka mutton biryani were good add on's.....all in all a good experience and the guests went back happy that such good food is available in gurgaon
Definitely a place to enjoy Punjabi non vegetarian delicacies. Chicken is well marinated and Gravy has right mix of spices. Worth trying....
We accidentally discovered this place while looking for something else. We were a little hesitant going by the appearance. But since then, we've eaten here once and got home deliveries twice. The food is good. The dal makhani isn't the best I've had but the mutton seekh and tandoori chicken are really good. Try the dal Tadka instead. The mutton biryani is good too. The mutton on the biryani was cooked beautifully.
Banging Food !! Good flavours and portion size . Highly recommend if in the area or for delivery which we did for a big group and they exceeded expectations in terms of delivery time and "Taste" 😄
Authentic punjabi dhaba near giani's. We order chicken tikka in starter and butter chicken in main course. I actually love the food served there. You can see lots of alternatives in supermart but i must say visit this place once. Sevice is fast, quantity is good and easy on pocket too.
Amazing place! After a long time had such good food at such an affordable price. And the best part is that they also home deliver!! The Owner is really friendly and sweet. Bhuna chicken and Sheekh kabab are a must have!! The ambience caters to both family and college crowd. I just loved this place!!
Small dhaba type of place in Supermart and a more convenient for take-away or hime delivery... the brain curry, afghani chicken and keema kaleji are the better picks from a decent size menu that has rolls and tandoori stuff as other attractions...
Try balti meat... Magaj, seekh, kaleji - all in one dish...
A small punjabi food joint. Authentic punjabi food with lots of masala. If you can digest authentic bhuna garam masala food go for it. V less space to dine there, get the packed food home.
If you are looking for good Punjabi spicy food in your neighborhood(gurgaon) , this IS the place to be!!!! Awesome food, recommendation - do try kauai chicken!!!
This is my first time writing a review here:-)
I had Saag Chicken at Patiala Shahi today in the afternoon. Delicious. Loved it!!!!!! Saag chicken is my favorite dish in Panjabi Cuisine. I never liked this dish anywhere except when my father made it. Today, i can say i enjoyed this even more:-)
Usually what you get, at best, is Palak chicken and not Saag chicken or the Saag is not well done. But Patiala Shahi's Saag chicken was out of the world:-)
I am just disappointed that i discovered this dish towards the end of the winter:-(
Try it. I am taking my father next week to experience what i experienced today:-)
P.S. If you get a chance to meet the owner, Ashok Singh, please do. That would be a bonus.
Patiala Shahi is one of the best punjabi restaurant that serves yummy food at a very affordable cost. The service was pretty fast and all the chefs used gloves while cooking. I still can't forget the taste of shahi paneer and saag.
The food is simply too good...simply melts in the mouth! Awesome kebabs and fish ...just the thought of it is mouthwatering!!! Am planning to visit again soon. Best to visit on an empty stomach so one can eat to heart's content.
The seating space is small but the food was good. Mutton keema masala and mushroom tikka are really tasty. Service was slightly slow. Not a ideal place for a large group, however for small groups this is a good option.
This is a very small joint/dhaba in super mart I. The place is not ideal for large groups as there not much seating space. The service is a little slow and I believe this place thrives on delivery mostly. Coming to the food, they have a good detailed menu. The starters tandoori mushroom and paneer tikka tasted excellent. Their Dal Makhni was also very nice. The quantities are decent and the price is low. Overall, it is a good place to order food from.
Over the weekend we ordered some fabulous food from Patiala Shahi located in Supermart I, DLF Phase IV. I called them through the Zomato App which worked well. The person on the other end who took the order was courteous and suggestive which was great. The food had to be picked up and by the time we got there; it was already packed. We returned home after a 15 minute drive and the food was still warm. I must point out here that quality of packaging needs improvement so that food remains hot and not just warm. The casseroles always run a risk of juices falling out and creating a mess. They also release the steam that is much needed to keep food hot.
The order comprised of Chicken Biryani which was finely spiced and not chilly at all. The flavours were pronounced and it was delicious. Though, I feel that the number of pieces should go up than just measly two. The Chicken Malai Tikka was very well made. It was soft and juicy. One of the better ones that I have had. Mutton Seekh was again delicately spiced and succulent. I could taste the well flavoured meat. Tandoori Chicken again surprised me. It was spiced well; tandoor'ed well and the juicy bird was of an appropriate size.
To Sum-It-Up: The experience of ordering from Patiala Shahi was quite nice. The food was well done. It will be on my regular order list.
Very good food !!! Dal, chicken n veg all were very delicious!! Kadhai chicken- a must try item in the list, Would definitely go again very soon

It’s nothing fancy. Frankly the place is a little cramped by normal standards but it is not very crowded, so it’ is just fine. The food is good and affordable but is regular run of the mill affair. Step in if you are in the neighbourhood and want to have a simple meal.
Had Paneer Butter Masala and lachha paratha @ Patiala Shahi today. Great food. Enjoyed my dinner. A must visit place...!! :-)
A wonderful place ... We ordered murg makhani and paneer masaledar butter naan and butter roti it was simply amazing !!!!! The naan & roti were with coriander, whereas roti had ajwain sprinkled on it.the service was quick.the guy taking order was happy to help,he gave lots of details.true Punjabi food in Gurgaon.
After reading so many good reviews on zomato,I planned to visit this place today. Located in supermart 1 (DLF phase 4 market), this place has a nice seating area. Not a too big restraurant, But the ambience is quite good.
Coming to food now. This place is famous for their non veg specialities. I ordered chicken malai tikka, Aloo pyaz stuffed naan with Kadhai Paneer. Chicken Malai tikka was different as it had some spicy flavor which a mughlai dish doesn't normally have. Expected it to be mild flavored with a nice layer of cream on it. Kadhai Paneer and naan was quite good. I had a look at their kitchen and had a word with the owner (Mr Singh). Came to know from the owner that they are using their own made spices and try to avoid spices and masalas readily available in market.
Service was excellent. I had a dine in at the restaurant and my order was delivered in 15 mins. Quality of the food was superb. Paneer was very fresh and soft. I wanted to have deserts too but realized that these were not in menu. Overall, my experience was good and this is a nice place to visit if you plan to have some authentic Punjabi food in Gurgaon.
Ambience - 3/5
Food - 3.5/5
Service - 4/5
VFM - 3.5/5
Wanted to try this new joint Patiala Shahi in Super Mart 1, DLF Phase 4 for a long time and finally managed to do so last night. I Orderd Tawa Chicken along with Mirchi Parantha and Tandoori Roti and must say that it was a sheer delight. The place surely lives up to its name. It actually took me back to my college days. The best Tawa chicken i had so far. Very rustic with perfect blend of spices and excellent flavor of fresh coriander and green chilli. Even the normal Tandoori roti comes with fresh coriander and ajwain sprinkled over it. A must try place.
Excellent Food and very nice staff !!The dishes are simply amazing and very well priced. The breads are also very fresh
Ordered from this place the other day. Good delivery time. Guy taking the order was very courteous and helpful. Ordered the murgh makhni and the balti chicken. Murgh Makhni was not so unique than what you can usually find but balti chicken was something quite different and enjoyed it. Would recommend to others.
Although it is a small place, it's perfect for a cosy dinner date. Their tawa chicken was prepared brilliantly and their kadhai paneer was decent enough (slightly oily). Next time I may order a take away rather than eating there.
Absolute VFM meal..!! Amazing tandoori chicken and dal makhani. The lachha paranthas were soft and just like home made. Keep it up guys..!!
Try the rahra Ghosh and the afghani chicken
I can only say I had real good indian food after a long long time, i ordered chicken curry & paneer butter masala with pudina paratha. Everything was just impeccable topped up with amazing and polite service standards. For that matter even the mint chutney & onions had a something about them here. If u planning to go here be prepared to overeat and lick your fingers in the end. Highly recommended... Enjoi :)

Its probably one of the best amritsari food that I have tried. I got it home delivered. The delivery was reasonably fast taking into consideration what I ordered.
SERVICE:
Cant really say about it since I had it delivered. But the guy taking my order was really polite and respectful and incredibly helpful in explaining to me what the dish is.
FOOD:
I ordered afghani chicken for starter and tikka masala and dhaba for main course. I chose the chur chur naan for my bread, and believe me if you are odering from here then you have to try the chur chur naan. As for the afghani chicken, I was a little disappointed with it but what lacked in afghani was more than made up by the main course.
In short, if you like the hardcore amritsari good then you should definitely opt for patiala shahi.
amazing place to order .... try any thing on the menu... just call them and ask according to your taste they will suggest you just what you want
I came here with my 4 others friends and we ordered full plate chicken gravy, full plate masala mushroom and 15 rotis and the bill cAme out to be only rs 695.
5 friends full murg kaali mirch, full mushroom masala n unlimited butter roties in Rs 695... try at least once.... :-)
extremely good food,,quality of food is great .butter chicken n chicken tikka masala recommended...good quantities!
Awesome food. The tastes of punjab do a Bhangra in your mouth.
An awesome restaurant to order food from. I really dig the kali mirch tikka, lahsuni tikka, dum biryani and shammi kebab. The dal makhanai and soya masala are a must have for the vegetarians. They are very efficient caterers as well.
I have been to Patiala Shahi every week since it has started a month ago. The key draw for me has been their food which is very good value for the price charged, and I perhaps have eaten the best breads here . Definitely the best bang for your buck in Gurgaon when it comes to good Punjabi food.
This place just keeps getting better and better, certainly one of my favorites after every visit. This time I got a Takeaway. It was the basic one paneer, daal makhani, one garlic parantha, one pudina parantha and few rotis. Not only each item was very tasty, you could tell material was fresh. Even the hari chutney which I usually avoid for hygienic reasons was excellent and fresh. The onions were fresh too. Definitely looking forward to my next visit when I will try something else, probably chhole bhature.
