A small little restaurant in the vibrant Nirvana Courtyard, Rock-e-Adda is a paradise for bong foodies to gorge on some simple but scrumptious “baarir khaabar”. The décor is clean and unpretentious where you can spot the finer nuances of the Bengali culture, read books, guitar, benches, a rustic bell and little birdcages. I loved the minimalism upon seating. The menu is clear-cut but tight as the weather is dire and they swear by fresh food. So, when we entered the restaurant, it was empty and thankfully so as that day it was literally run by a one man army. Sonu Pandey was at the reception desk and was swift enough to come and take our order apologizing for the unavailability of some and suggesting some better dishes. Upon placing our order, we got busy in our own conversations and antics when, after some time, we realized that the service is terribly slow. Came our food, some hot and fluffy Luchis with Keema Ghugni, Kosha Mangsho and Bhaat with Aaloo Bhaaja…being a Bong, I give them full marks for the authenticity in taste. The plates and bowls were polished off in no time. So, like I said the One-Man Army – Sonu Pandey – took great care of us since the beginning – he took our orders, cooked for us, served us everything down to the finger bowls and ultimately fetched our bill. Woah! Awesome work! I take back my “slow service” complaint and replace it with great hospitality despite irregularities. If the management is reading this review, I request them to appreciate Sonu and his services significantly.

Rock-e-Adda truly rocks!

I went to rock e adda the other night with my friend and we were blown away by the  food. We shared the authentic bangla veg meal and prawn curry. It was perfectly cooked and the butter taste only enhanced the flavor of the curry. The prawn curry was marvelously delicious. We ordered whipped coffee that was divine! Our server was excellent and personable. I look forward to going back.

A new place which has opened in Courtyard Nirvana . It's walking distance from my neighbourhood . It's a nice place to get some real authentic Bengali finger foods / snacks and also an extended menu if you prefer it that way ! I found this place decent and worth a visit .. A must for all Bengali food lovers

Pleasently surprised to discover this behind-the-curtain eatery. Typically the name would suggest it is a light snacks kind of a joint serviing egg roll or the quitessential egg-chicken or egg mutton rolls. 

We ventured in nevertheless to find a very tastefully done up cosy little seating area with ncie paitingins and a copy of anandolok on the shelf. Music playing :backstreetboys quit playing games with my heart. And we were like hmm that's does make for a interesting mix.

We ordered Luchi Aaloodum, Mutton Chops, Keema Ghugni just check if they would be able to get close to ,what the typical bong Mom would specialize in - perfect balance of spices and ingredients.

Fine tuning or being picky, take your pick, we thought the items were like 8/10 on the day and the taste balance was near perfect.What made it more fascinating was that the cooks were non-Bengalis who learnt the recepies from "maidumji"! So if we had to put on our fine tuning caps there here is the summary:

The mutton chops had a touch more of corriander ,but that apart they got the mix right and oil used was good too.The ghugni was well done, a touch on the thicker side but very nicely done.The fish fry needed to be a bit larger in size, otherwise they were crispy and soft and no smell , the Beckti was reasonably fresh.

Overall, it was such a pleasure to discover genuine home flavor bengali cooked food, not over done, tastefully presented,and a very humble staff with good service.Will certainly recommend to other "fine-tuned" bongs in the neighborhood and also for the pantophagist a.k.a the foodie to explore this serendiptuous experience.

Humble suggestion for their mangement : You really might want to specify that you do serve a full course meal , otherwise ,like the name suggests, some new customers might think of it more as a roll-shop rather than a quaint boutique eatery.

rock adda was good bangali restorent for enjoying bangali food  i ll  ordering Fish curry, kosha manso & rice, fish fry Food is exellance...good  food quality  & staff is also verry coprative...over all best....

Got Mutton Chop and Rolls delivered. The chop was tasty and sizable but needed more mince - it was mostly potato. The rolls could have been decent by they were doused some painfully sweet green chutney. Overall has potential but should focus on making the main ingredient of each dish shine.
