Dinner last night was a last minute call as we were running out of time. In it's prime, remember this place being such a rage with a decent enough waiting period. Just in time for their last order, we were extremely apprehensive of what to expect as the place was definitely a tad run down from our last visit.
Paneer multani rahra masala, Palak malai kofta, maalgadi handi chicken, bharwa amritsari kulcha & laccha parathas. Gosht Biryani was added as an afterthought. The food arrived surprisingly fast and thankfully nothing had changed in terms of the quality and preparation. Their portion sizes are probably the hugest with comparable restos. The handi chicken was quite a hit with the non veggie. The kulchas were decent but the parathas extremely greasy.
Efficient service staff who didn't rush us even though we were the last ones' dining was a good feel factor.
With so many new restaurants opening up, I am sure it's a challenge to retain clients but then this was a good reminder that a good food place should always be repeated atleast once in a quarter. Cheers..

Traveled in a luxury train, not yet ? Then hit this place cuz this restaurant made as a real British train compartment with seat luggage racks, train sound and the announcement which was so amusing! The decor was ostentatious and luxurious 👍!

Laupathgamini bhatti ka Tikka - Nothing but chicken tikka with smokey flavour - it was good but could have better had they made it bit spicy.
Hari mirch ki roti - don't worry it won't be too spicy , I really liked it. Next time around I will look for this roti for sure

Restaurant serves good food with on time services. In soups shorba is a good option to start with.
For starters in veg you can choose paneer ke sole, its tasty and is cooked well.
Veg main course can be panner multani rehra masala, as the name is complicated , so is the dish.. But its well served and cooked with a pinch of indian ans muglai taste in it . It will taste well with naan or tandoori roti. It's a recommendation to not try this with kulcha's as one will be spoiling the taste of both.
For non veg one can try murg malai tikka with garlic naan or cheese naan
Allo kulcha or cheese kulcha can also be tasted as they are best served here.
For coolers try mohito (as a safe option)
Rather than opting for a desert, you can try the paan they serve, specially the banarsi pann.

This place literally takes you back to the year of 1853! The ambience is amazing and the retro feel of the restaurant is very satisfying! First, we tried their Cawnpore Tamatar Dhaniya ka Shorba. The taste was great and refreshing. In appetizers, we went for Paneer Tikka and Paneer ke Soole. The Paneer was soft and tasty. For main course, we had Subz Rangi Pulao. It tasted nice. The service is a bit slow. At the end, the experience was great.

Been to this restaurant when its name was still Sahib Sindh Sultan. We had the popular dish - Thompson's atta chicken which was good. The chicken was cooked inside the wheat dough with spices and other ingredients. The taste was good but not great. We also had the fish tikka which was also decent. Later we had the paraatwali chicken biryani for the main course which was basically the lucknowi style of biryani and was good. The ambience was very good replicating the old train coach. The service was very slow and the restaurant was not clear about the Zomato gold. Overall it was a good experience and I would rate this place as

Time travel is hypothetical and out of common man's reach. But hey with Journey 1853 you not only experience the regal splendour of contemporary carriages but also get a feel of the heritage and fine dining.
The ambience is a recreation of the colonial-era first ever train run in India. On 16th April 1853, #SahibSindhSultan the first locomotive train made it's way from #BoriBunder to #Thane.
The artistic wooden work and the rustic lamps are worth a mention. We visited for a unhurried dinner and took our sweet time to appreciate the elegantly done decor that complemented the royal cuisine. The staff is dressed stylishly in the uniforms of bygone era. The menu compromises of the dishes which Britisher's rejoiced every morsel of it. It is complex yet simple Indian and Mughlai Cuisine.
The staff was extremely courteous who helped us to speak to Chef to understand the exhaustive menu. Being just 3 people we requested him to limit the portion size and send the best of the lot.
Corn nibbles never appeared compelling to me until I had a bite of the Bhuttiyan De Kebab, not too dry and baked in tawa instead of Tandoor. The mixture of Potato Hash and Cheese stuffed between Lady Canning's Paneer Tikka was simply melt in the mouth, soft, fresh and wholesome.
Paneer Multani Rahra Masala was not another random Paneer dish. Pair it with the chewy, buttery and gooey Malai Paratha that balances the rich and spicy flavours of the curry.
Having dined at Khaan Saab, which happens to be of the same management, I was truly impressed with the home-made Kulfi and Falooda. Blame the irresistible Paneer Curry, the culprit which left no room for the dessert.
True to their claim, at Journey 1953 very little has changed since 1953 and Sahibs and Memsahibs are still treated as royalty. Note that the cuisine is Mughlai, typically heavy on spices, cream, butter so one might find it heavy.

Went her with a very close friend of mine. We had ordered Dal Makhani and Kadhai Paneer, both of which were mouth watering and delicious. The ambience is a 10/10, and the staff is very courteous and polite. It's a must visit place, however if you plan to go in the evening, book your table before hand!
we went down here after few good feedback from my cousins, Where it didn't disappointed us by their culinary cuisines and the ambiance looks so good as a theme of train.

A great restaurant with some amazing food and extremely courteous staff. They have great options for both veg and non-veg (though I can only vouch for the vegetarian food). The Bharwan Mushroom Lazeez starter and Subz Rangi Pulao are a must-have. All the main course dishes we ordered were extremely tasty, with good portions. I'd give them a 5 star but one point off for the Mango shrikhand being underwhelming and the rumali roti having a few uncooked bits.

One of my favourite place for try the northern cuisine. The Rajasthani Lal mass is a must try. The mutton pulao is yum as well.

The first thing that I'll point out is the theme and the ambience. The eye catching colonial era train theme was astounding. You can literally have your meal inside the train coaches of British Raj.
Now coming to the food,
We had Murg Malai Chop a la Dalhousie. The Chicken Leg pieces were juicy and delicious.
For main we had Kacche Ghost ki Biryani, along with Murgh Badami.
The biryani was decent in taste and had big chunks of mutton in it but the meat was a bit dry according to me.
The Side (Murgh Badami) was excellent, which had a thick gravy just the way I prefer it.
Service was prompt and expenses were justified.
Overall a excellent place if you want to taste some dishes of the British Raj.

Writing a review after very long time. I basically love food. Whenever I visit a restaurant irrespective of the theme I give importance to the taste of the food overs there. There will be only few where we enjoy the ambience and food even. This is one special restaurant where the ambience looks very grand having train theme and also food tastes heaven here. I specially have a love for mughlai cuisine a lot. Whenever I go with my husband and my sister, we wanted to explore the menu. No less this time too. We started obviously with starters. We ordered Zamindari achaari aloo, and paneer tikka. Must say! Each and every item we ate here were wonderfully tasted and all our tummy’s felt so so good 😍
For main course, we thought of ordering corn methi pulao but we really had bad experiences before, so we went for Sabz rangi pulao of our choice and do phool ki tahaari recommended by the service 😍
And the taste was spell bound 😍 I really really enjoyed food while eating every spoon.

It has an amazing ambience of British Raj carriage, service is super fast while they play instrumental music in the background. coming to the food, we tried veg makai ki galouti and it blew our mind away. It is bit spicy but that's not an issue for me. We also tried panch Mel ki sabzi which is mixture of five veggies, this was also good. They have an amazing pudina parantha and a mind blowing Lal mirch ka parantha. One of the best Hyderabad places I have been to.

A bit expensive but the food is really tasty. I had the best kulcha here after a long time. The service is prompt, ambiance is awesome. Sometimes you might have to wait, but not for too long. Preferably book the table in advance if you are on a tight timeline.
I went to this place just for the decor. It intrigued me. And it was indeed great. I loved the background music set to the theme and the decor inside the railway carriage.

Chicken biriyani : perfect blend of spices & chicken with well cooked basmati rice .
Mutton dum biriyani : must try dish when you visit this place. Whole layer of mutton is placed at the bottom topped with basmati rice and served in pot.
Menu seems to be little overpriced but worth the price . When you have Zomato gold it doesn’t matter much as Zomato gold is applicable here 👍
I have been visiting this place since more than a decade, it is designed to take the dinner back to 1850's and this is a train themed restaurant formerly managed by BJN group but now under new management. Used to be a very very busy place but not anymore. Food is good and also the service. Paneer multani rahra masala is a must try, the taste is very unique with double layered paneer. For the North Indian, Mughlai food lovers, I'd want you to try this place to satisfy your taste buds and have some delicious food. Not only is the food excellent, but also the ambience is great. They have a mini train inside the restaurant which run along its entire length apart from the seating outside the train. The seating in the train is only suitable for a group of people not more than 4. You will have to take a seating outside the train area if you are a larger group. This place is basically known for the mix of Indian Royalty in the medieval times and the East India Company.
Food per se, they serve you some excellent dishes. I have been here twice in quick succession. Using Zomato Gold membership saves great on the pocket if you have multiple of them. The Appetizers top the list in terms of satisfaction.
Items I ordered were (all vegetarian) -
Appetizers:
Paneer Ke Soole (5/5) - If you prefer the spicy paneer tikka, then this is your dish. Perfectly marinated and cooked panner tikka over the tandoor.
Bharwan Mushroom Lazeez (5/5) - For all the mushroom lovers out there, I'd want you to mark this as a definite item on your order and for the ones who do not like it, please try this dish to start loving it.
Meena Bazaar ke Dahi ke Kebab (5/5) - Can't stop loving the Dahi ke Kebab and these also were really great
Lady Canning's Paneer Tikka (4/5) - This is the malai paneer tikka version of SSS. The only lower rating as it was a little more sweeter than it should be, rest assured, the paneer was as soft as it could be.
Tandoori Mushroom, Shakkarkandh and Babycorn (4/5) - Sauted vegetables as mentioned and again, if not great, not disappointing at all.
Main Course:
Paneer Multani Rahra Masala (5/5) - They do not serve it in a regular bowl of curries. It is thick paneer cubes arranged on a plate with the thick gravy topped all over them. It is a spicy curry with a tangy flavor to it.
Palak Malai Kofta (5/5) - To avoid the sweeter Malai Kofta, I preferred to order this instead. Although, it was not a spicy dish, it was perfect and not at all sweet.
Maa ki Dal (3.5/5) - Tough to choose a disappointment in my review for SSS, but the Dal Makhani could be a lot better.
Rice:
Subz Rangi Pulao (4/5) -The only choice for something close to the Veg Biryani is this dish and it was decent enough.
If you are reading this review, one suggestion to the management would be to serve canned soft drinks instead of fountain soft drinks. A can should be much preferable. Also, do include RedBull in your menu if that's a possibility.
This was my early days restraunts when I shifted to hyderabad... I was on a date in this restraunt and believe me this restraunt has made me proud for choosing it. The ambience was great and food is also of great taste. The mocktail that I had here was "Sahib ka Panna" and it taste great. I just loved the food, drink and ambience all here.

I visited this place for dinner on Monday. There are only few people as it is a weekday. There are 2 kind of seating. Inside one is like a luxury train and the other is normal fine dining.
We got the inside one. It gives you a feeling as you are on a train. We ordered Thompson's atta chicken, jhinga jalandhar style and tandoori roti.
Thompson atta chicken was good. The taste is similar to any tandoori full chicken but the presentation was really amazing.The chicken is marinated, then covered with banana leaves and then it is covered with dough. After that it is cooked slowly in tandoor. When it comes to the table, they cut the dough open and the whole process was pretty exciting.
The prawn curry is also really tangy, thick and nice. Roti is kind of okay.
They also accept zomato gold 😊

I went to this place on Sunday for dinner. Ambience was great as gives you feel of royal train . We ordered paneer tikka and dahi kabab for starters and Punjabi chole and tandoori roti for main course . The food was only ok ok . But the dish of day was paneer tikka.

We miss Sahib Sindh Sultan in Bangalore. When we were visiting Hyderabad we got to know that SSS in Hyderabad is open which made us happy. The Thomas Atta Chicken is delicious and out of the world. The Laal Maas is delicious as well. Overall it was a great experience with prompt confirmation of the table via Zomato and quick service.

All the dishes were good but Thompson's atta chicken needs a special mention and a must try.

But as the waiter began to cut the spiked atta coating, the aroma of the food, simply kept me excited and inquisitive to know what’s in.. and as the waiter cut off the atta completely, well some really delicious chicken was treasured within..Chicken well spiced and marinated overnight and served with banana leaves and cooked with atta coating. This entire combination is cooked in slow tandoor.Exceptional presentation consisting of coat of thick wheat dough in spiked form. Different preparation and finger licking moreish taste!! 😍🤤🍗

Visiting this place like after half a decade.!
I always love this place for its Elegant Ambiance and it’s Royal Train themed seating.
Had a delicious start with the Royal velvet Chicken soup and Tandoori malai Prawns.
My favourite here is Mutton Biryani but this time I have decided to taste their Paraatwali Murgh Biryani and its not a disappointment, I absolutely loved it and went well with the raita.
Sahib ka panna was a decent companion for the meal.
Decided to end the meal with Indian sweet sampler, of the three desserts(Gajar ka halwa, Lychee ki tehari and Kulfi) I loved the Lychee ki tehari and even other two were tasting good.

The place has a very beautiful ambience where you can enjoy the feeling of being in some luxurious train. Food is delicious and mouth watering. I would recommend this place to everyone eyeing on having a perfect dinner.
Overall experience was great. The staff was polite, the food was yum. Paneer was really very very soft! The waiter assisted well by suggesting the dishes and the spice level.

Good experience overall. Food taste has not changed since ages, well maintained.
Service is fast and good. People there are well mannered and helpful.
Shorba tasted great, but Nan was a bit chewy. Other items like roti and vegetables were good.
Service is amazing. The person serving us was very attentive, friendly and dignified.

Ambience of Vintage train is super cool in themed elegance.
The ambience (train coach) reminds of a British colonial era which would strike the royal feels that of a King/Queen. The lighting is a little low(this one is for the photo people) and obviously perfect for couples. The main part that is the way food is presented is just wow, hospitality is great(they would explain every aspect of the menu in detail with a lot a patience) but taste isn't that satisfying, I would rate a 3.5/5 for food.
Love the place for food and ambience. Had visited this place after 6yrs. Few things had changed..now they don't serve alcoholic beverages which was disappointing.
But the food taste was good ...tried both veg and non vegetarian options and were good.
This cozy vintage train style restaurant has left the best impressions! Situated in a mall in Banjara Hills with hospitable hosts, unique ambiance, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation & wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again. Staff are knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Try Roti pe boti appetiser, railway mutton, Hyderabadi biryani & lichi kheer for sure. Get some great pictures for Instagram clicked too. Love this place and will visit again soon. 😊
This place is in the city centre mall. Parking a car is not a big problem but i would avoid the weekends.
Ambience is one of a kind. Apart from normal seating, there is a train theme which is awesome.
Table cloths could be slightly more clean but didnot bother me much.
Food is very tasty and menu is unique. Lot of items to choose from.
Staff is friendly and offer great hospitality.
Place is upscale, romantic, cozy and worth visiting.
I highly recommend this place for families to experience royal retro train theme experience.

Great food, fantastic ambience. The food was served relatively fast and the flavours were amazing. The restaurant has a train themed section, which is very well made. It looks almost like the palace in wheels. People can also opt to sit out of the train section, say you are in a group and want everyone sitting together.
The restaurant is really good. Great ambiance and very cool place to hang around. The restaurant is given the look of a train coach. The food is delicious and lip smacking. Starters as well as the main course are great. Butter chicken, Paneer tikka, mutton seekh kebabs and mutton biryani are surely a must try. Do visit this place and enjoy the good food as well as the atmosphere and ambiance!
The review is more like 4.5 but didn't have an option. We being vegetarians, we're certainly not disappointed. The food was fresh and tasty. The ambience is one of it's kind and it was an experience to remember. Do give this place a try. PS they got their alcohol serving license revoked and hence no alcohol is available here.
Food tasted fresh and great. Multiple veg options, Kaju Badam Pista curry is really good. Sweet and salt lemon soda is fantastic. Train coach ambience
Sit back and enjoy the vintage train ride. The colonial era themed restaurant gives you an enthralling experience. Even the finest details of the restaurant has the touch of British Raj. It is so hard to catch up with names on the menu book. But the service is excellent and they carefully explain each and every dish on the menu. Make sure you try the train coupe. A bit pricey but it's worth the experience. It's a must try in Hyderabad.
