The vegetarian food was absolutely delicious. Being a vegetarian it is difficult to find really good food, once upon a time has really good vegetarian dishes.
All the items on the menu are brilliant but my favs were
1) chilli prawns with roasted pav
2) chettinad fish mousse with toast
3) Tava coconut mutton rice - I’m not a big fan of coconut but this dish is delicious!
The ambience is welcoming. The service I received was very pleasing. A sumptuous meal with a superb staff makes it a must go place. The menu is very appealing. You have a very wide choice I just feel in love with their subz mishran. We throughly enjoyed the time and food.
AMBIENCE : 7/10
TASTE : 9/10
SERVICE : 10/10
VALUE FOR MONEY : 9/10
Awesome Plating. Palate friendly tastes and the ambience all put together is every penny spent over here. Thanks to the chef and his team for the wonderful experience. Beet Chicken Shorma was amazing
Best complimentary breakfast I had. Chicken sausages were magical!!
This is a place where one can come with their family and friends and have a relaxing meal.
Situated inside the green Park hotel, this place is a kind of a treasure cove for foodies. Have been to Tulips on multiple occasions for their midnight biriyani but this was the first time here. Firstly, the ambience is spot on with soft traditional music playing in the background and makes you feel at ease. Onto the food, they had 2 veg and 2 non veg starters at the counters and 2+2 bought separately from the kitchen, so all in all there are 4 starters each in veg and non veg. I loved both the veg peas tikki and the chicken tikki. The starters bought from the kitchen directly all seemed to have the same sauce but tasted good none the less.
Apart from the above, you have pani puris and various chats which can be customized per taste. In the main course, their chicken biriyani steals the show but one should try the other items and curries too as all were really show stealers in their own right.
To finish of the rounds, the desserts section is a sight for any die hard foodie. From Ras Malai to gulab jamun and the works, all of them were toothsome. The service was good except for one guy at the live counter for fruits who looked and seemed dumb enough but that's just an aberration. One should definitely try this place more than once!
One of the best place visited in recent days. Restaurant has elegant ambiance and best place for family dining. Menu is curated with lots of creativity and its suiting to local taste. Staff is very attentive and polite.
We tried butter chicken doughnuts which was star for evening..special mention to chef mudhusudan who speacially enquired on our satisfaction and made sure we had fantastic experience, his special mutton pilaf was outstanding and had rich flavour.
Overall 10/10 experience.
Tasting menu. Amazing food and great service. Reasonably priced for the experience . ....:..... Highly recommend to get one of the tasting menus

There is no meal in the whole wide world that can compare the feeling you get after eating that wholesome Indian meal. No matter how many cuisines we try there is nothing like coming back home. There have been so many new places coming up these days and revamping the good old dishes in a new form altogether but a classic remains a classic. So is the case with Green Park Hotel, they are majorly known for their midnight buffet and haleem and have a separate and loyal fan base of their own. Taking a cue and going with the trend they have also come up with new menu in their in-house restaurant Once Upon a Time, focused towards the young crowd which serves Indian fusion dishes. They have recently brought in Chef Vignesh Ramachandran as the Culinary Director, and I was invited by him for the new menu tasting, and who would like to miss such invites?
Given to its classic charm, Green Park gives you that old world vibes with soft Indian music playing in the background. The ambience of the dining area is so soothing and they have ample space to comfortably move around. During my discussion with Chef Vignesh, he patiently explained the thought process which went in curating the new menu and also what makes their ala carte and buffet so special. I was highly impressed with the knowledge he carries and how well he knows about his food. In addition to their existing ala carte menu they have introduced three new menus, more details of which can also be found on their zomato page:
1. Green Fables is a vegetarian only set menu and is priced at INR.1100 exclusive of the taxes.
2. Deccan Tales is a menu designed for non-vegetarians which also includes classic Hyderabadi cuisines, it is priced at INR.1550 exclusive of taxes.
3. Indian Epics is their new fusion menu which includes all the existing dishes with a twist and is priced at INR.1300 exclusive of taxes.
In order to give us an insight into what the night had in store for us we were served Amouche Bouche which was in the form of chilled cucumber ring tossed in with masala yogurt and desi scripts, this surely did its job and left us impressed and not to forget the presentation was top notch. This was followed up by the starters with Smoked Baingan Chaat being the first one. The chat was made up of smoked aubergine or baingan, baingan raita and chutney, and just with the first bite of it I was taken by surprise as this was so good. I also tried their soups, Lasooni Murgh Shorba and Nandu Rasam with the former being my preference as the simple flavors of garlic and chicken were going well.
Then came the Nadan Chicken Fry which was Kerala style chicken served over idiyapam alongside coconut cream and garnished with coconut shavings. Though being a simple dish it was packed with flavors and became an instant favorite. Next in line was Khatta Jhinga, made out of gongura and prawns laid over a hari mirch chutney. This was something which came as a surprise as it was super spicy and tangy, nevertheless one great dish to try. I being a meat lover myself, couldn’t resist trying the vegetarian dishes too. Dahi ke Kebab in spite of not being so visually appealing tasted really good and filled with flavors, another dish we tried was Chunda (Fried Rava), a Guajarati delicacy topped with red chilly chutney and served alongside micro greens and okra fries. All the dishes tasted exactly as per the description being given by the chef who was giving us the company all along.
Another classic with a twist was Roti pe Boti which was more like a DIY where the malai masala was served on mini phulkas in a small platter and finished with fried onions. The flavors were exactly how they should have been. Having eaten so much we were really stuffed and here came the surprise from the chef, Citrus Orange Sorbet which visually was plain but was packed with citrusy flavors, this was something which was actually needed and prepared us for our next course.
The next course began with seafood, Scallops with Prawn Moilee prepared Kerala style and served with mini uttapams. The coconut curry sauce went really well with the scallops, a match made in heaven, a MUST TRY. Lucknowi Nalli Nihari had soft lamb and was combined with chatpata aloo for giving that added twist and the combination did work. We were also served Chicken Kebab Roulette which is not a part of the menu, and it couldn’t impress me on the taste front. Another interesting dish served was Dal Moradabadi, regular dal having moong dal chat and chutneys served along with crispy chur chur naan, the flavors here were complementing and blended well.
Post relishing all these we were not left with any space for more and just then came in desserts! And who says no to desserts? Like no one!
The first one was Rasgulla Tiramisu where regular Tiramisu got a 360-degree makeover. The way they innovated this was amazing as the rasgullas soaked in filter coffee were served along with mascarpone mousse. Though this might not go down well with non-coffee lovers as it has a strong and bitter flavor of coffee. The next dessert was a tribute to the chai samosa lovers where the masala chai was served in the form of ice cream along with khova samosa and this was topped with peanut jaggery pralines. This could be every chai lover’s dream.
I was a little sad as this food journey came to an end. The innovations they have done with the regular food are just another level and cannot be compared. Everything on the menu was perfect and more attention was given to quality over quantity. The young chef was nothing less than a walking food guide and knew his business well and ensured the taste is kept intact.
In terms of service the place never disappoints and has been consistent over all these years. Their new menu definitely deserves to be explored and trust me you won’t regret.

This food festival is not like any other. Yes, there have been many unique and really good ones but this is one of a kind. I’m sure , not many of you have tried this. The dishes are from the ancient times and are taken from the Sangam literature. This is a concept of the tasting menu. You have dishes from Kakatiya Dynasty , Chola dynasty , British raj and Vijaynagar Dynasty. A few of them are still made today but have a lot of additions and new ingredients added in and at the same time a few are interesting and never heard of before.
The food was fantastic, the chicken donuts, Haleem and samosa dessert was unmissable. Service was also fantastic and the staff was very kind. Would definitely recommend to everyone
My mom used to bring us to this hotel as kids and we used to stay there.. So I came with my friends on my birthday and had nostalgia feelings! Friendly service and staff.. The food options were a lot! In total loved the experience!
Irrespective of delectable food fests and events buzzing all across the Hyderabad, a foodie like me craves for a complete meal that blows you out in terms of innovation or culinary complexity or the overall experience or taking Indian cuisine a notch above. I think the Foodie Gods answered my prayers to have it all in one shot. Green Park Hotel known for its legacy in fine dining places was more known towards their haleem and midnight buffet. The brand has its own loyal patron base and has been known to be consistent in their service, hospitality, and other offerings. Their restaurants like Marigold again has its own loyal base. To stay in the competition and be in social media buzz, they have come up with re-vamping the menu of their in-premise restaurant - ONCE UPON A TIME - a contemporary Indian fusion restaurant. Hearing that a young Chef has come from my own state and dishing out some real classic twists, I was so excited to meet him in person. Chef Vignesh Ramachandran who has recently joined as Culinary director for the property invited me to come and relish their new twisty tasting menus in offering and man I would not miss such calls.
My first experience with “Once Upon a TIME”
I must say it’s worth it. We opted for the “Deccan Tales”. The Menu lived up to its name. Everything about the menu ranging from the Way it was served, Presented and above all The taste was something to cherish.
If you are a Food LOVER and the one who tastes food with eyes before actually tasting it then this is the place to go for.
Loved it

My 'Once upon a time' experience.
If you are a fan of fine dining experiences and are confused what to eat - a well researched, curated menu comes to your rescue. Chef Vignesh whose body of work speaks volumes about his understanding of flavours, textures, colors and other nuances of food. Having heard such appreciable things about his work made me look forward to this experience very eagerly.
I tried the Vegetarian set menu - which is called 'Green Fables'. There are 3 specialty menus. The Deccan Tales(Hyderabadi) and Indian Epics both predominantly non-vegetarian fares.
The event menu had a few items swapped by Chefs special. It was supposed to be a 9 course meal and that is a lot of courses even if you are an Engineering student 😋
The place is revamped with a look to recreate a village with geometric designs and trees as designs on the walls.
Coming to the food - The Amuse bouche (which is set to activate the taste buds) was a Donut shaped crunchy cucumber dipped in yoghurt and rice puffs and it was efficiently did its job. I assumed that was a Dahi Vada and could eat two more.
It will be unfair to describe the dishes and the local inspirations to them if you don't experience it yourself. But my 5 star dishes from this meal with small descriptions of it are as follows: (Names of the dishes in pics)
1 - Roasted Pumpkin soup with crispy Idiyappam and charred Pumpkins - Rich, aromatic and absolutely flavorful. 👌👌
2 - The Mini Chole baturas - Had salsa as a side along with masala malai with Chole. All to be eaten as a Paani Puri. Spot on flavours and the salsa bringing in that additional dimension to the taste 👍
3 - Paneer 'Masala donuts' and coffee cup mein Makhani - Full marks for that idea and presentation.
Designed as a cutlet for easy dip and eat. Extremely tasty and rich. If I had to order just one dish this would be that dish.
4 - Saiva Meen Kozhambhu - (Saiva here used to represent it was Vegetarian version of a Meen kozhambhu (Chapala pulusu).
This had one of the best uses of curry leaves I've seen in recent times. Soft Barley tossed in curry leaves flooded by a spicy gravy and topped with crispy raw banana shaped as fish. A medley of so many things to make up one beautiful dish.
I felt the use barley was disproportionate to the kozhambhu and left me a little huffing and puffing as there was half the quantity of kozhambhu still remaining to be poured 😁
5 - Chai and Samosa (As a dessert)!
Samosa filled with Palkova in pastry sheets was a show stopper for me. If you have a fondness for baklava and Khoa sweets this fusion will unlock your imagination to new territories 😊
I'll stop with my descriptions and let others post about their experiences as this truly deserves some admiration and recognition. I'm confident of they replicate this it will be a trendsetter in the days to come and will attract a crowd which constantly looks out to celebrate special days with the best the industry has to offer.
Kudos Chef Vignesh Ramachandran and the staff of Greenpark and hope you enthrall Hyderabad even more with your innovations. If I had to nitpick and give any feedback - water glasses needs to be cleaner and smell fresh 👍
Totally approved and highly recommended experience 👍
Glad to meet all our foodies and thanks to my co-admins for the entertaining company outside the PDR 😁
Usual price - Around ₹1100++
#iPaid - ₹800₹ AI. (Special Event Price)
Food is very good but portation of starters are very limited. Need to increase it. Even if ask they are not giving . Please look in to that issue.
Absolutely fantastic food and impeccable service! Roasted Pumpkin Soup, Bharwan Paneer, Spicy Corn, Kesar Paneer, Tahiri Tawa Pulao, Subz Nishram. Every dish was crafted to perfection.
My wife and I loved the experience at this restaurant. Great food and nice ambience. Lots of options for vegetarian friendly folks too. We had murungai rasam, vegetable tahari and both were really good. Nice variety in desserts too - definitely must try their Rasgulla Tiramisu. Gives you a nice and different flavour. Overall a nice place to enjoy a Sunday dinner..
Its just a wow to the modern indian cusine and presentation of food. Its expensive but worth trying food here. I never expected a pumpkin coconut soup will be my best soup ever. Then a paneer donut starter is so yumm and at last kova samosa dessert is so delicious.
Food: 4.5/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Service: 4/5
Overall must vist place
Awesome food... loved each and every course starting from soup to main course..
Pays shorba, murgh malai, butter chicken with butter naan, chicken biryani and the haleem are yum... Best food, service and ambience..one of the best restaurant in town.. Thanks to chef Madhu for this flavour filled food...
Service is amazing as well.. the staff is very attentive and attended to each and every need ..
Nothing beyond 5 star. I have visited this place again and again and yet never got bored of it. Special thanks to Chef Madhusudhan for always interacting with the customers and sending surprise elements!
A must recommended place for everyone to try out "good" food which balances taste.
Been here once. Had a very nice time. Nice set menu and alcohol. Good priced. I would for sure go again and take my friends. Surely recommend checking it out once.
Great place to have food with friends and family. Had been here for team lunch. I enjoyed every item in the buffet. Service was very good. Especially desserts are of top quality and taste.
Great ambience, friendly staff but service was a bit of lag. Food is above average... Set menu is a decent choice, there are some Kerala dishes which tasted authentic
We stayed at Green Park for close to a week, and ate regularly at this restaurant. The lunch and dinner buffets are out of this world! The buffet spread includes Hyderabadi and North Indian dishes. They have a wide selection of desserts as well. From their à la carte menu, Samosa and Chai, Rasgulla Tiramisu and their Haleem are highly recommended! The service is top notch too. On weekends and holidays, recommended to make a booking beforehand as we’ve often had to wait for a table.
Great quality, excellent service. Haleem, Biryani, kebabs and deserts are good over there. Overall, a good place to go with Friends and Family.
Been a regular at this restaurant for more than 10 years now. The restaurant recently went through a major revamp. I went out for Sunday night dinner to try it out post the rennovation. I must say that the place upholds its great ambience and delectable food, with a fresh new twist. We started off with the Malai Murgh Tikka, which was cooked to perfection. It had a creamy stuffing which was absolutely beautiful. For mains, we ordered the Butter Chicken which came with 4 types of assorted breads- chur-chur parantha, Ulta tawa parantha, Missi roti and butter naan. The butter chicken was delightful- it's by far the best I've had in Hyderabad. It had a buttery and spicy flavour, and was not sweet. (Like most other restaurants in the city) All four breads served along with the butter chicken were so delicious that I couldn't decide which one I love most! They have an eccentric dessert menu which we were very tempted to try but had no room at all. Well done, Green Park, you guys never fail to please me!
This restaurant is very underrated. By far this is the best Fine Dining Hyderabadi Restaurant in Hyderabad. The food is par excellence, the chefs here are awesome. The service is great.
The must try dishes are:
1) Paya Shorba
2) the rotis & naans
3) haleem
4) Gosht safediya pulao
5) samosa aur chai
The staff is very friendly and patient. We have baingan chat and pulav. The different types of yogurts were amazing.
The ambience too was great. Their complementary dish was unique. Cucumber dipped in yogurt and graced with masala puffed rice.
On a ordinary day we just decided to go some place for a buffet, thanks to Google we found this place. The spread was amazing, ambience was great with really polite staff. Food was up to the mark with a wide spread from salad to chat to biryani and not forgetting the malabar chicken curry and amritsar fish.
Don't talk about the desserts from cakes to rabdi there was everything.
Good place to visit with friends and family members. We have ordered crab soup. Taste was delicious. Presentation was perfect. Overall I can say it's the best restaurant in Begumpet.
Have had access to this joint during a month long stay at the hotel, and it has been great. The menu is diverse and the layout is grand.
Breakfast : is repitative, so that's what 4 stars for. But they had meals laid out at 6.30 in the morning, so anything works. Early morning fresh fruits are a huge thumbs up. French toasts & cupcakes are best. Idli and chutneys are close second. Sabzis are spicy... Well it's a Hyderabad thing, so, eh?
Lunch : fish is so amazingly cooked. Mutton is nice and tender, the way it should be. Chicken dishes are nice too. Mix veg meals are yummy. For a non-Hyderabadi, don't let the names of the dishes fox you. Lift the lid and take a look at the dish, use a little logic and it is exactly what you think it is, just tastes better.
Though. One week of the meals does get to you, but then there's a gym in the hotel to do some justice.
PS. Food is really spicy. So go lite initially. Once your system gets a hang of it, dive in! ;)
What a delight this place is!!
We went here for a team dinner and were smitten by their food.
They have a concept of set meals and you get to choose as per your palette. Vegetarians are offered Green fables, while non vegetarians can choose between Indian Epics and Deccan Delight (Deccan flavors basically l might have got this name wrong).
Everyone is then given coasters as per their food choices and the servers service you accordingly.
They have a la carte menu as well and 2 of our vegetarian colleagues ordered from that menu.
With every dish that we were served, we blessed the cook even more. Their set menu had everything from paya soup to Nalli nihari to scallops to prawns and yummy chai and payasam flavoured ice cream.
I have attached a few pictures here and definitely recommend this place.
Good stuff Team Green Park!!
Had the "Indian Epics" menu. The Chicken Donut and Samosa and Chai were my favourites..
Giving this place 5 stars only for the ambiance and for the amount of effort that went into planning the menu. The chef's rendition on progressive Indian cusine is unique and deserve a mention...
Do visit this place....
I enjoyed the food so very much. Each and every item i ate was way too delicious. I’m going to be a very regular customer. Thanks a lot for the yummy food once upon a time
The best restaurant I've been to in recent times (easily one of the best in Hyderabad).. The Food was too delicious & was worth it's value.. The food presentation was awesome.. & I loved the ambiance over there as well..
Once upon a time is the place to be...From ambience , service and to quality of food this place doesn't let you down in any aspect.overall a really nice experience and will love to visit again...
This is my second visit and I am not disappointed. I especially have to thank the crew and the Manager Mr.Sagar for there great service during our visit. Hope they keep up the consistency and serve great food.
A simple yet delicious lunch buffet. I enjoyed every item on the menu, it is totally worth the price. I loved all the desserts too, they have huge variety of them. The ambiance and service are both good. A must visit place with family.

This place TANTALISES TH TASTE BUDS 👅 OF EVERY FOOD HUNTER OF HYDERABAD
Great Taste, Exclusively curated menu to keep us on the tender hooks→ To get to the next course of the food.
Undoubtedly Compels me to Come again and again.
Thanks for the great food 🥗
Excellent service with a smile and great hospitality.
Cheers !!!
Fabulous decor and ambiance to start, great hospitality from the lovely staff, decent food selection from the menu. (soups and cucumber appetisers were a great touch)
A small tip for the dessert (qubani ka meetha) is that it’s too sweet overpowering the palate and the main ingredient was hidden under so many sweet layers of ice cream and powered sweet and keeping that aside we had a lovely evening with the family.
This was a pleasant surprise. The tandoori chicken was excellent- smoked and juicy, the button idli like rotis that came with it were an instant hit with everyone. The mutton shikampuri were almost the size of Idlis! They tasted fine, were flavourful in a neutral/bland sense- can’t blame the chef since that’s usually how shikampuris are. The khatta jhinga tiger prawns were tangy and flavourful- it was a new take on the same Indian masalas that you won’t mind at all. The tandoori broccoli was coated with fresh malai, it was bland but was still quite tasty. The mushroom starter was enjoyed by the vegetarians, though I found it a bit too curry-masala for my taste, no complaints though. The classic green park mutton biryani which we requested from the adjacent restaurant was great- it’s a must try if you haven’t tasted it before. What could’ve been better? They didn’t have half the beers on the menu. The waitstaff had a hard time dividing the food in equal portions for our large table of 10 people. The gravy for the paneer mains was incredibly bland. In summation, this is a highly recommended place if you eat meat, and if you don’t, it’s an expensive risk that might just deliver.

As always, it's nostalgic, the ambiance, the aroma, the visuals, and the most important is the food. Great place for a family outing
I liked the taste of food. They have variety of veg and non veg dishes and starters, plenty of desserts. Only this I missed is, if chicken biryani is there then no mutton biryani, but mutton curry.
Amazing place! Best Indian food I've had in my life.
The service and ambience is on point. A bit Crowded. Should book a place in advance.
Recommended dishes- must try
subz mishran 5/5 it's a mix of vegetables in creamy pistachio sauce
Butter chicken - 5/5
The calm and subtle music playing in the restaurant was the perfect accompaniment to my meal. The soft melodies provided a relaxing atmosphere, allowing me to truly enjoy my dining experience without any distractions. The music was not too loud or overpowering, creating a peaceful ambiance that was ideal for conversation. I felt like I could easily unwind and let go of any stress while listening to the gentle tunes in the background. Overall, the calming and subtle music helped to make my dining experience one that I won't soon forget.
Once Upon A Time at Green Park Hotel in Begumpet, Hyderabad is maintaining its standard by offering wide spread of buffet lunch and dinner. But taste of some of their items are not the same as they used to make few years ago. There are plenty of vegetarian items lined up separately beside the table kept for non-veg items. Little away from all the items for main course, large number of dessert items which look yummy and delicious are also available for the visitors loving sweet dishes. The ambience and lighting inside the restaurant hall have undergone some change. Now the dim light everywhere in the dining hall makes the ambience much darker. Each staff member attending the customers are properly maintaining the covid protocol by wearing masks. The entire lobby and dining areas are aesthetically decorated and maintained beautifully. The rest rooms for both gents and ladies are spotlessly clean and wheelchair accessible. There is a ramp for wheelchair access and a valet parking facility.
Tried their Deccan Tales tasting menu and it is the best thing I have ever had in a sit down dinner.
The innovation in menu, quality of food, authenticity to hyderabadi taste and service are something to talk about. I highly recommend this place and will definitely visit again soon.
Hats off to chef.
p.s. if you are someone who wants big portions then you should definitely skip the tasting menu and go for alacarte.
To be honest,
When I scanned the menu - I thought of walking out. It was damn confusing and me being a vegetarian - very limited options.
But what I thought of a wrong number - turned out to be one of my favourite experiences.
The food is just soo amazing!
तृप्त कर दिया!💕
We ordered Corn Shorba, Achari Palak Chat and Bharla Baingan. I would suggest once you should definitely visit!
PS: I WONT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE RATES. I FOUND THEM TO BE FAIRLY CHARGED FOR THE QUALITY.
This place will leave a distinct taste and memory in your mind. We decided to go ahead with the vegetarian 8 course meal and Every dish was so innovative. For me the top 3 dishes would be the paneer donut makhani, the pumpkin and coconut soup and the samosa and chai ice cream combo. You will be surprised by the flavours of all the dishes. The staff was very courteous too.

Located in Begumpet in a quiet place with a parking facility and high class security 'Once upon a time' is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Hyderabad. Peaceful, delicious food, affordable prices, varieties of food, splendid waiter service, fascinating ambience. Would rate six stars if given an opportunity. Best place for family dinner, team dinners etc.,

In comes a tornado named Chef Vignesh who has joined as Culinary director and has put in some amazing tasting menus in their Once Upon A Time - Hyderabad. Went to taste them on Chef's invite and I should say without a doubt - "ITS THE BEST OVERALL MEAL AND EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN 2019".
He has curated 3 tasting menus
#1) Deccan trials focussing on Hyderabadi specials - 1300++
#2) Indian Epics- Amodern twist on Indian classics - 1550++
#3) Green Fables - Complete vegetarian paradise - 1100++
We tried both Deccan and Indian as the portion size perfect for single person eats and at the end I should say, his culinary mastery comes in each dish. Apt quantity of serving, a blast of flavors (Exactly how he explains it) and amazing interpretation of our regular classics. At 27, this Chef has proved his mastery with so much class. I can't keep talking about each dish (which will be soon in the blog) and it would be still an understatement.
