One word. Evergreen.
Bengre Kamat Group never fails to amaze with it's delicious South Indian cuisine. No second thoughts, don't miss it. This branch, specially.
Have been to all their outlets in Hyderabad and now finally came to this one. Talking about the ambience , it is ok as to other outlet. The food was good. :) Had ordered rawa dosa, masala dosa, dahi wada, idli sambhar, paneer butter masala, bhature and onion dosa. All tasted great.
It's a nice place for quick South Indian tiffins and snacks. The food here is nice, but the lighting in AC hall is dim, which could be improved. You'd have to wait for atleast 15minutes for a table during peak hours.

Authentic south Indian breakfast.
A walk away from my home. Everytime mom complains about how we are shamelessly stuffing our stomaches on her everyday efforts without giving her a break and all.....I quickly drop at Kamat to pickup breakfast or lunch before she actually leads to a valid point. :P :P
First of all, they serve nice tea. Breakfast and lunch are fine just like other hotels of this category but what is best about Kamat is that you end up having a nice peaceful lunch away from city's bhagam daud with your family.
Kamat is always an option when you don't wanna go places for lunch or when you don't have much money to spend :P
Taste - 3/5
Ambiance - 4/5
Service - 4/5
Value for money - 4/5
We ordered for masala dosa and idli. Overall, dosa was good and idli was avg. Ambiance is ok and service is also fine. It was early morning breakfast..
Good south india food. The only problem with this place is the except card if the bill amount is Rs 300 +. Carrie small chani or else you will get Ambrose by staff behaviour
Serves delicious south indian vegetarian food. We had south indian thali, and boy you can't finish it, portions are huge. We could not even finish first serving. I was amazed to hear people actually ask for second or third servings too.
Some of the best things in the world are free! Some of the best dosa's are made in Karnataka....Udupi to be precise and not Tamil Nadu contrary to popular notion.
Kamat is a chain of restaurants all over India but I particularly like the one in SD road, Secunderabad. Not very conveniently located though ;blink and you may miss it!
I used to gorge on their Mysore Masala dosas on a weekly basis during my Army days in Secunderabad. This dosa had a unique taste with a tang of garlic. The dosa used to be pasted with a generous helping of garlic chutney, yet crisp and artistically presented. Dip it in the signature Kamat sambar and there is a burst of flavours on your palate.
Their thali is also worth trying. Service is quick... don't expect the waiters to share niceties with you or update you on the weather. So keep your social expectations on a low key. Rest assured that you will be served one of the best dosas in the city. They also sell sweets and so you can try the Bangalore laddoos on your way out.
Strongly recommended.
A fantastic place to have meals, breakfast. Typical Karnataka flavour can be enjoyed with every bite. Standards of this restaurant is consistent from past 2 decades as far as food quality, hygiene and menu is concerned.
For any veggie, Kamat is a safe bet in any city as they have a chain of hotels across India. However, I guess the management has taken this point way too seriously. What else could explain the high cost and deteriorating quality of food?
Hailing from Bengaluru where even bandis sell good food, I used to rely on Kamat as a good breakfast place. However, it was disappointing to say the least. Food is nothing extra ordinary, prices too are on the higher side. if Kamat wants to survive and intends to retain the South Indian tourist flow in India, then they better start working on their food quality.

One of the best places to eat and taste Vegetarian Udipi style cooking.
Fast food - South Indian style.
The menu is pretty standard for any south Indian "tiffin" joint. Nothing remarkable or outstanding.
Food is tasty and hygienically prepared.
The waiters are swift no nonsense friendly chaps who know the menu and, if you are a regular, your tastes at their finger tips.
Service is prompt and with the typical efficiency of a tiffin center.
The south Indian snacks are available all day long while meals and north Indian dishes are available after 11 am.
Like most restaurants, the menu is multi cuisine with a typical south Indian taste.
The restaurant has 2 sections, General and A/c. Ambience is fair. Nothing to write home about.
Located in the heart of the city, it is extremely close to the railway station, bus terminus and city market making it a very popular eatery.
The location also has adequate parking for two wheelers and cars.
At the outset, Kamat hotel is an all the way legacy hotel chain with lots of good name for their service,
quality and taste!! I went with my family yesterday 21 June night around 920 PM.
ACCESSIBILITY: High stairs at entry. A bit difficult to climb for elders
Very near to Secunderabad station and land mark is CLOCK TOWER, on SD Road
TASTE : 100% Authentic in whatever they make.. North or South.
SPECIALTY : Tiffins
Meals : North & South Both were equally TASTY & DELICIOUS!!
Ambience: Average with a decent AC dining space.
Value for Money : More than 100% . ( Meals: 140/ ; Dosa: 75/)
SPEED: Very Minimal waiting.. ( 5-8 min)
Over all : Definitely a place which you can frequently go out whenever required....
BUT...they shut their shop sharp by 10 PM, under any circumstances :-)
Kamat hotel has a legacy of their own .
The best thing about kamat and specially abt this outlet is they have stuck to their strength . the same old interiors gives u the feel of same old good days . the interiors remain the same simple . visited this place on a weekday for lunch. They had old Hindi songs being played in the ac section . as the sound was not that loud could not recollect the songs . old Hindi music in the same old interiors relaxes u a bit.
Ordered kamat thali . we asked for Roti's instead of poor .
The service was quick and our order was in front within 5 mins . the Roti's were decent . the thali had dall sambar 3 curies curd raita sweet and biryani along with plain rice .
Raita was thick and nice. Dall was nice but the sambar was a bit plain I usually like the spicy version . biryani was yummy. The sweet had a mild sweetness I guess they use jaggery to sweaten it up .
Over all a good experiences this thali is diff from the south Indian thali we get in other restaurants ( specially in terms of spiciness).
My dad was story telling about kamat hotels.Karnataka's very own food chain. It seems they were super famous decades back and it continues till date.
We checked in to accomplish our lunch for today. Decent and normal ambience. A perfect for a family eat.
Our order. Babycorn manchurian, kamat meals, basundhi, butter naan and paneer kofta, curd rice.
Baby corn Manchurian was good. perfectly sauced. This is a rare because a Manchurian usually contains "more than enough" soya sauce and other sauces. It was crispy. The only issue, corn flour presence dominated the baby corn. Each baby corn piece was super fatt. The coating takes the credit.
Kamat meals. Good. Besides the meal constants, I was surprised to spot puris.
Butter naan and paneer kofta. Kofta was bad. The gravy is not something to rave about. It was just a gravy and that's it.
Basundhi was good. Creamyy. No nuts smeared. Bit pricy. But not worth the high price.
So,
#a decent good place to eat.
#beware of prices
Cheers and happiee eating :D
I've been regular to this place ever since I was a child. And nothing much about this place has changed in the years that have passed. The waiters are friendly as ever. The food is as good as usual and the service is prompt and unostentatiously delighting. I usually have the Masala Dosa here, which is absolutely delicious to say the least. The Basundi here has never disappointed me and still remains a personal favourite. Apart from these, the Manchurian can be tried and the rest come under the regular fare.
Whenever i go to hyderabad, my breakfast spot is kamat hotel. The taste is good and ambience is decent. It is a place which has the look of a family restaurant as well as a café.
Had been to Kamat, near paradise x roads after a long time...had the South indian thali..good in taste..however service is slow..the taste and quality has been consistent over the years.
Well I was on the way to dropping mum at general bazaar and she wanted to have dosa and as mum always liked dosa at Kamat, we went to the sd Road outlet. I admit it's been a while I've been to this. So we got to the AC section settled down and ordered masala dosa and butter masala dosa. Now I know this is a very old place but they have maintained it pretty good. As soon as u enter there is a counter on the left side and in front of u is the general area and on the far left is the AC section. And the AC section is neat the seating was good, tables were clean. Talking about decor and ambiance it's normal nothing to jazzy for a small time hotel. And the dosas arrived and my word were they delicious. I agree I don't eat dosas at hotels anymore with the new trend of food trucks and bandis up till late night, I'm used to butter paneer dosa or cheese dosa. So for me it was such a clean and a neat break I forgot how a more quintessential masala dosa tastes like. The dosas were crisp and soft at the same time the butter was good quality. Coconut chutney was simply super and sambar was good too. And to wash it down we ordered 2 filter coffees, and they were perfect too,a tad bit too strong but I liked it ( breather from the double shot lattes and frappucinos ). And guess how much the bill was, it was 205. Absolute VFM. Definitely recommend.
Kamat Hotel near Paradise is one of the few restaurants in the vicinity of secunderabad that serves traditional south Indian tiffins and meals.
Have first visited this place almost 25 yrs ago ... Favorite dishes here are the masala dosa, bisibele bath and the special south Indian thali. I vaguely remember the thali was priced at ₹18 during early 1990s.
Visited Kamat for tiffins yesterday, we ordered Idly, Masala Dosa, Rava Dosa, Veg Soft Noodles and Veg Manchuria. Idly was pretty hot and went well with the tasty coconut chutney, ginger chutney and Sambar. Masala Dosa was crisp and Rava dosa was very soft. Veg Noodles were not too thick but looked more like rice noodles. Veg manchuria was spicy and over fried. The regular tiffins were just awesome!
I found this on Zomato. And just went for it. But after going there I realised that it's a veg restaurant. But we had no choice. But this place didn't disappoint at all. The Roti and curry were really good. And jeera rice was good as well. The ambiance is not that great but the service is upto the mark. And the lassi was amazing. Overall it's a good veggie restaurant which has a lot to offer.
Kamat Hotel Is Located At Sarojini Devi Road Ramalaya Complex before ICICI Bank S.D Road Secunderabad.. Ambiance is gud parking available.. They serve authentic n delicious South Indian breakfast n delicious Thalis, Chinese...Yesterday went for lunch order South Indian Thali.. Thali is very very delicious Dal, Rasam, sambar is very very tasty n delicious full value for money...
The sambar here is the best. This place is an very old famous place where its a treat for sounth indian food . The rating goes completely for food.
The oldest name in south indian food this place dosnt need an introduction..this chain of hotel is spread accross the twin city..
Serving some lovely south indian and north indian food this place is good for any type of meal.
For me its their rava dosa and south indian thali for which i go ..its samber which they specialise in its a bit different from other place its thick and consistent..
Paneer butter masala is my another pick over here.
A must visit place if you are craving for south indian food...
One of the old restaurants that I usually go with family impulsively would be this hotel. The place is bustling with people all day and there is a friendly chaos all around. I have been a fan of their Kamat Meal since ages and the meal is very VFM and absolutely tasty. They have a wide range of food items displayed for breakfast/lunch/dinner and there is always something for everyone. Though the ambience is so-so, the food is pretty good and I'd urge everyone to try out their popular dishes.
been here after long time.. ordered tomato soup.. then palak paneer, roti and then idly wada. .. bisible bath .. pongal.. and later basundi all the members in our group are happy and taste or the price is super ..
Unfortunately step in to this restaurent food was pretty good and the taste has been same from years my famliys favourte place decent recamnded for familys
Went here for breakfast around 11 30 ..here after a hectic scrutiny at passport office .. The place is decent ..went into the AC section on first floor .. I don't say it has good ambiance or something like that .. But it's pretty decent ..Had Rava onion dosa, pessarattu and vada. Rava dosa was one of the best I've had .. It was really good..overall a good place for breakfast.. I can't comment about lunch or dinner though.. Will definitely recommend this place .. And btw service is also good...
Pleasant food. Pleasant service pleasant people you see around when u visit this joint at SD road. Or it could be just me who feels so.
It's one of the oldest food joint in which i have been dinning in.
You will come across elderly people serving u food.
Every item os worth trying. It is a south indian restaurant.
Try thali it wont disappoint ypu at that price.

One of the best breakfast joints where I can sit with family and not worry about hygiene. Butter Masala dosa, followed by puri and then some upma. That's the ideal menu and just send me back home happy. The only issue with this joint is the parking.Tried the meals this time. For an even 100/- inclusive of taxes its not a bad deal at all. Don't expect too much. Some messes have better quality but you cant beat the location now.
Had an amazing, completely relished South Indian meals after a loong time in Hyderabad! Loved the simple old ambience and warmth in service!
One of the best & famous places to have breakfast in this locality.
Ravva Dosa & Alu Bonda are must have items here.
Ambience is OK. Quality and Quantity are Good.
It's a karnataka based restaurant and dishes.
Located opposite the clock tower, quite easy to find.
On the recommendation of my friend, tried Kamat meals Thali, found it average but with lip smacking sambhar.
I have known this place from the time I was a kid, though the place now looks old, the food has managed to stay fantastic. Their bisibelabath is my favourite, apart from bisibelabath, I love their paper dosa. The sambar they serve with their snacks is fantastic, mild with a hint of sweetness. All in all, an excellent place for Udupi style food.
I had the Masala dosa over here. The masala dosa has an awesome taste of ghee and was filled with good amount of the potato filling. Sambar can be made a little bit more thick and tasty, it tasted like salted water, chutney was also nothing less than a disaster.
Always loved their food. But the thali quality seems to have gone down.
However, their tiffins still are pretty good. Tried their Puri sabji and Rava Dosa last weekend followed by coffee.
Completely satisfied with the taste and though the place was bustling on a saturday morning, the service was pretty fast.
An all time favourite. Very homely and delicious food! Been going there since the time I was 2. The idli-sanbhar and the vada sambhar are a must try here. Their Sambhar is just lip-smacking!
A busy busy hotel in this area. Though several hotels came . Craze for Kamat didn't fade. It's always hard to find a place here. They always maintain good quality of food here from several years and at other branches too. A best one in sd road

Kahan hotel is located on the first floor beside Nataraj theater opposite the clock tower garden my school was just near to this place a 50 steps away and I have lots of school days memories with this place whenever i skip my lunch box from home then i use to have my lunch here on my lunch time. Whenever I visit here its reminds me my school days.
I love their vegetables biryani it was my favourite I always use to have it. The idly is the most famous here love the idly with thier coconut chutney its yummiest and most lovable chutney here is the red ginger chutney I really love it it's my most favourite too. And I also love their mysore bhaji it's one of the best and soft as well. The gulab jamuns at their sweet shop which is situated on the ground floor is really yummy I always go there to have the gulab jamuns the softest sweetest tastiest gullus you get here I love it.
In my recent visit was disappointed because of they served me the cold idly it was very dry too not fresh have complained about it they said me sorry sir we have all the idly's are like this only so can't change it I was surprised with the answer and so irrelevant response by the captain how can be rude with the customer this is such a big brand in south Indian restaurant I was soo angry and left over the place by hurting heart but no issues this is forgivable because this place have my school days memories.
The Ambience is as usual same typical south indian restaurant and this place have quite comfortable siting tables service is good and quick. Must try place for the typical south Indian food.

I went here when my mother and friends visited Hyderabad. Reasonable pricing, delicious food, good quantity, tasty coffee, friendly waiters. Nothing makes your morning better when your vadas, masala dosas and puris are served steaming hot to you. This would be my favourite place for an Indian breakfast in Hyderabad.
The Best South-Indian Restaurant in town as of now. IDLY-SAMBHAR... Ultimate treat to our taste buds. You want South Indian, Go to Kamat Hotel. You won't be disappointed.. Though North Indian isn't that bad..
Good place of vegetarians… place is always need and clean
good dosa and filter coffee… we always visit this place if we are nearby Secunderabad…
For ages it has been the favourite family restaurant in the city. I have always tried only south indian cuisines and the taste is rocking, the best place to have south indian food in the city.
One of the best place to have breakfast . I like their dosa very much . Highly recommended for South Indian style breakfast . Service is good . Ambience is old style but pleasant.
Super place for vegi and am feeling disappointed when i visit this place because am a pure non-vegi lover. Nice place to have food. Place is very clean and they serve very good and fast at serving. I eat sambar vada and masala dosa both are simply super andcost is bit high when compare to street food
The first restaurant I went to in my life. Everytime I see this place I am hit with nostalgia and a tsunami of sweet memories. God...even when I write I am unable to do justice due to the flood of emotions in my head. I just cant compare this place to any other place, it would be just unfair. Whatever be the quality of fpod today, you still get to see the same familiar decade old staff. It is the staff that makes you feel at home. Their calm patient behaviour and their everlasting warm service just doesnt make you forget this place.:)
Kamat Hotel, well known for serving tasty South Indian dishes. They keep it simple, even the menu is limited, but almost all the dishes are good. The items available here are not rounded off to next rupee, but the bill is rounded off.
Location: Very near to Clock tower, Secunderabad. If it helps, when coming from Rio cafe to clock tower, this will be on your left side.
I love the Masala dosa and filter coffee over here. The masala dosa has that subtle taste of ghee, filled with finely cooked aloo curma. The aloo curma is less spicy but tasty. Accompanying chutney is good. Sambar can be little inconsistent in taste. The filter coffee has rich aroma and good taste.
The ambiance is great, quiet place which is also maintained neat. They also have a AC section. The service is quick.
Cost: Less than 100 rupees for a masala dosa, filter coffee and tip for waiter.
Overall, a very fine place for kick starting my day with good breakfast.
First of all, you can feel the richness in the food when you come down to kamat. The branch in S D Road is my favourite as it has the best poori I've ever tasted in Hyderabad. The second thing to keep in mind is, if you're planning to go Kamat, prefer to go before 8:30 pm. This is because the servers become too tired and the varieties of dishes also decrease. That's the only unsatisfactory thing about this restaurant. If you want yummy tiffins, kamat is the place to be at. Peace.
This place is jus adjacent to my office n visit weekly once .Karnataka based restaurant since 50 years n maintain same taste round the year.
Idly, dosa, upma, uthappa, coffee ,veg biryani are the best I hav tried.meals is average n less spicy.
Two sections of seating with sweet shop on the ground floor.juices are average.
KAMAT HOTEL - One of my favorite place where I really enjoy having some udupi delicacies, This is a very old restaurant which is very well maintained since ages. Though there are many restaurants nearby with good ambience, I still prefer going to this restaurant with a family. They have two sections on top, one is A/c section and other is non a/c one. Whenever we go we see a lot of people having food there and the seats are almost filled but still one can find their place in very short time. I always prefer having tiffins in this place and I'm never ever disappointed.
I really appreciate their service which is very quick and the waiters are well dressed and can handle lot of customers with ease. I have ordered paneer dosa and idly for my breakfast while heading towards my work and I still wonder how they manage to make the dosas of the same quality since years, kudos to the chefs. Dosa and idly accompanied by Sambhar and chutney really gives a different udupi experience with every bite of it.
In return I decided to stop at the same place to have my quick dinner and ordered thali. The thali is very perfect with all the accompaniments. I see more number of kannadigas pouring into the restaurant most of the time since they can have their own delicacies. This is the right spot for those who are looking for a pocket friendly family restaurant nearby clock tower secunderabad. My rating
Taste : 4/5
Ambience : 4/5

Awesome veg food at a very reasonable price.
We went there by chance. Seems to be very old restaurant serving delicious food.
Spring dosa amazed us. Well made.
Paneer keema was superb. Gravy is very nice.
You may also try thali. It will be very nice and more than enough for a single person.
Seems to be one of the best veg restaurant in the city.
This place has been my parents favorite for a long time and hence, I got the opportunity to visit. The place is very simple with a rooted South Indian feel including the Waiters clad in Dhoti. The food was amazing and very delicious. Sambar is one of the best I ever had. The USP of the place is it's price and cleanliness. It is cheap yet more than worth it. Prefer visit this place rather than Chutney's which is over priced even though the quality is at par with Kamat.
I have been here once or twice..service is very fast..and food is very good at a good price..you wont get main course items after 3 pm..but other snacks are also yummy apart from main course..a restaurant that you must try
I have been many times to this place. I like the food and service. Paneer dosa and idli sambar dip are the ones i really like. Roti and curries are also pretty good. Its always a good place for tasty veg food.
Nice place good hotel very tasty south indian food very fast service very cheap like it best south indian restaurant in hyderabad love it best food in the world giving your hot and fresh food all time
Wonderful place to have south indian delicacies. Must hav idli and butter dosa with their in house juices that are really awesome... Restaurant is very hygienic and preparation are at their best.
Nice place with the same traditions as well the same standards of food since the past decade ... Reminds me of my childhood when I dine in here : )
This place takes me back to cold hood memories with traditional servers and hospitality..dosas vada filter coffee and the mouth watering sweets.. Economical and also hearty
An old vegetarian chain which always satisfies its customers. Very prompt and curt supply . they have a typical taste which anybody can like. Pocket friendly with a lot of variety.
Half the ppl prefer thali which is sumptuous and tasty as ever.
Parking is a definite problem though.
This has been a family favorite for ages now.. I guess from the time I was born! Or even before that.. The paneer 65 is out of this world.. Tender, soft paneer that melts in your mouth.. The fried rice is also another of my favorites.. A must visit..
One of the very first restaurant I have visited in school. Those were the times when we did not know about restaurants and choices .We always landed here after any damn thing. We always order idli.and masala fosa here.To be mentioned is the taste of thier sambar.Till date never eat anywhere that sambar.Ambience is quite ok .
Its a frequent place i used to visit for tiffins.. Dosas are really good but the ambience is not upto the mark.. Sambar is also really good.. Masala dosa and ravva dosa are my favourites there..
One of the hotel I like visiting for having Dhosa - be it masala dhosa or butter masala dhosa. Sometimes I like their thali served in a banana leaf remind me of my chennai days. Only thing I don't like much is their Sambhar - I feel little sweeter in taste, I am used to typical Chennai Sambhar. The place always remains crowded or may be whenever I visit them. I never experienced a lesser waiting time than 10-15 mins. The restaurants has two different section for dining - AC and non AC. I prefer the AC one. Ambiancewise AC section is much better than the normal one. The pricing of the food is quite reasonable. Service is good but sometime I feel like fast and furious - before you close the deal, they have a tendancy to swipe of everthing on your table. Overall a good experience.
Go and enjoy your DHOSA! I am sure you'll like it.
The beauty of Kamat according to me is it's vintage style of presentation ...any one who pleases this would give it a 5 star rating ... Kamat doesn't have a good stand as far as taste is concerned . It's not bad but not even excellent .. I usually prefer having my all time favourite Butter Masala dosa here I really love it . The fried rice is also quite ok .. But apart from that nothing is meant to be spoken about Kamat .It is a calm , classic restaurant in which u can relax as well as spend time ,and to top it all it wouldn't cost u much.
One of my favorite restaurant in secunderbad. Had been n no of times nd tatsed almost a items. It never disappointed me in taste nd bill.:p. Its just on main road so the problem is with parking. U would be lucky if u get it. It has two sections ac nd non ac. I tried all nd best ones are tomato omlete which is special here its too soft cosa with rich tomato mix nd the gravy with which it served is too delicious. Nd one more must try is pander dosa where does filled up with full of spicy pander masala curry which tastes awesome. Apart from that had mushroom fried rice which is also quite good. Only suggestion is never try north india n curries except malai kofta. Except this no curry is good here. So go only if u would like to taste authentic south Tiffin's. Nd finally don't forget vto have basundi.
If you want to have vegetarian food of top quality then Kamat is the place to be.
Kamat is the best for its famed breakfast items. They have so many different kinds of south indian breakfast items that I have never known about being a south indian. I always take the masala dosa along with a fruit juice because these are the items I like best in the kamat menu. They have a AC section and a non AC section. Its great for a quick snack too and this place will never let you down .

Oh the no drama restaurant with super quick service, this place is one of the quickest breakfast joint in the city and one of the oldest, so yeah highly recommended for any craving of yours, especially filter coffee :)
Want a delicious meal?? Visit Kamat
Want a great coffee?? Visit Kamat
My favourite for South Indian food
Meals is wonderfull, having food here since 13 years.
Kamat has been here for ages, its crowded during peak hours. Though not very tidy place. Service is relatively fast. Their menu hadn’t changed; only thing that keeps changing is their prices...
Their tiffins are standard, they haven’t changed a bit from the beginning, especially their Dosa’s and Idly’s ,they are best as usual . But meals are not great...their sambar is bit more sweet, which I dislike but again taste is something personal. Over all, it’s a budget hotel, will cater to everyone, easy on pocket, fills stomach quietly...
Kamat is my childhood brand and still continues to be the same.
Usually we visit this place on saturdays whenever our dinner comprises of breakfast. Yesterday we have been here and it was crowded as usual. The waiting time was around 15-20.
The restaurant is split into two sections out of which AC section is better in terms of ambience but very short spaced and that's why the waiting time is more than 30 min sometimes.
Butter masala dosa and onion uttapam are the favorites out of the menu and i was never dissatisfied with this two items. I would say these are the best in the kamat breakfast range.
In the deserts, I liked Kala Jamun the most which is a daily preparation.

This is our goto place whenever we are looking for a decent meal which is not light on the stomach and the pocket..!
Located strategically this place serves an excellent meal at an excellent cost. The ambience are mediocre, but we are not looking for a 5* interiors when we are served good food at street prices. The service though, I must admit, is excellent. Service is very quick and all the waiters are very friendly.
Food: This restaurant has an authentic udipi flavor to that. Even north indian dishes are nicely prepared. The only two things in the menu that I do not like are wadas and sambhar. Too much sugar in the sambhar which kind of dampens the taste. Everything else is excellent. My favorites are poori bhaji and thali. Desserts are not something you should look forward to at Kamat. The thing that I like the most about Kamat is it's simplicity. USP definitely is good food at a reasonable price. Waiting time is considerably low compared to other restaurants and as mentioned earlier the service is brisk.
Final Word: A place for a quick, healthy and a reasonably priced meal.
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 3/5

As a kid i would mess up in a hurry that i couldn't manage to resist the taste. I remember the tastiest Chole Bhature, Butter Dosa, mysore bajji and Rawa dosa i had here. Don't know where they originated, but Kamat makes them tastier than the Original. I've had almost all items here and its one of the best Kamat's.
I know Kamat isn't from Andhra but i feel like the ones who actually started it forgot how it's done coz i hated it while in Bangalore and other places. Kamat in Hyderabad is way better.
Kamat - S.D.Road, after Sandarshini this is a frequent stop point for quick, hygienic and hot tiffin. I don't know how many times I had been here in the last 10 years. I don't need a reason to visit this place. Most of the time this place is packed.
You have an A/c and Non A/c section on the first floor and on the ground floor you have sweet counter. You would have no complains about the service, as you need not wait for more than 2-3 mins for the waiter to come with the menu to your table. The food is served just under 5 mins to your table.
I had most of the varieties of tiffins, my most preferred tiffin as usual is the idly and Butter Masala Dosa. Best part of this place is you get everything fresh and piping hot.
Waiters are very swift and polite. Only down side is before you pay the bill the cleaning boy will come, start cleaning the table and remove the plates, Inspite of you still being seated at the table. The glasses are kept clean, but still avoid jug water and fetch bottled water for good health. Pricing is very nominal. Parking is not an issue.

Old timer, nothing fancy in terms of ambience, but definitely makes up with some good food in all varieties, but the South Indian is pretty good. Try out the Andhra Style thali served in a Banana leaf with curries, chutneys and Sambhar which is divine. The tiffins section including the Masala Uttapam and the Sambhar vada are just fantastic. The North Indian thali is also pretty good. Priced at Rs 45 for the Thali, its a complete value for money. A really good place to rush for lunch during breaks, since the service is also pretty fast.
One of the oldest good hotels in the city. All varieties of breakfast items are available here. There is no lift here and for elderly people with knee pains will have problems to take stairs.

Good South Indian restaurant! It’s a Karnataka based restaurant! Even north India and Chinese items are available. Their South Indian dosas are top notch! Their cutlet is the show stopper! Their lunch contains good number of options which include one flavoured rice, puris, one sweet, one bowl of rice, one curry for puri, one dal, one sambar and rasam along with curd! Few times extra curry or sambar will be provided on request! They do have different kind of desserts! Along with fresh fruit juices!
Very tasty vegetarian food... Must try their veg fried rice, bhindi masala, tomato soup, crispy potato, fried baby corn, etc...
Bisebelle baath is a speciality there, but it was out of stock
Filter coffee is also a must try item here
Restaurant is on the 1st floor... No lift facility is available... They have separate ac restaurant
Recently, had been preferring Punjabi /North Indian food items whenever eating out. And must say, I was looking for a change. Hence, tried lunch at Kamats restaurant in Secunderabad on a Sunday. It is in line with the famous Kamat chain of restaurants, which are known for their vegeterain food, especially South Indian food. I had ordered the famous Veg. Thali. It was sumptuous, with lots of quantity, with a balanced, and variety set of items as you would expect in a Thali. Clean, Simple, home like food. It was a welcome change from all the heavy overdose of spicy gravies that one has with North Indian food. Also, the good service is something newer fancy restaurants need to learn. In the wake of expanding, good service is sometimes lost. Not with Kamats. I hear its a very old and famous restaurant located in Secunderabad. And their old school values of good service, hospitality was at display. The crowd was also a mix of young, old and middle age people, which was a surprise. Looks like youngsters too are preferring eating healthy as most of them took thali. Overall, I am very much satisfied by Kamats restaurant. If you are in Secunderabad and want to try good vegeterian food, Kamats is the place to be.
I have rebonded an old association with Kamat Hotel. I had a hearty meal at Kamat after a gap of nearly thirteen years. Many things have changed since then; Mysore Masala Dosa is no longer part of the menu, sweets have been discontinued, none of the old waiters are there.
I tried butter masala dosa, poori korma, onion rava dosa and filter coffee.
Their fares are still reasonable.
The food taste remains the same even today as it was twelve years ago. This is one of the few places we go and have family gatherings too. The place is friendly, safe and yummy. Enjoy.
We were a big fan of Kamat's mysore masala dosa and their laddu back in the day. So, revisited this joint to renew old memories. To our dismay, the outlet we went to has discounted these items, but were directed to another outlet which still serves the same. That story is for another day!
So, we went for Butter masala dosa, onion rava dosa and puri korma along with filter coffee. The masala dosa was too good- tasty crispy, the sambar also was relish.
The onion rava dosa was good too. The puri korma was ok; didn't enjoy the korma so much.
The filter coffee was fine.
Old time favorite place for Vegetarian Tiffin and Thali. They maintain the same taste and quality as they did a decade ago.
Puri with mixed vegetable kurma is my definite order here.
Just a km away from secunderabad junction. The hotel has 2 sections ac and non - ac , as per your comfort choose. Atmosphere is good like the hotel is clean and maintains hygiene.
Tried
1) Masala dosa
2) Idli
3) Kamat Filter coffee
The filter coffee is must try if you visit. Masala dosa is very good like the dosa and masala 💯. Idli is good with chutney and sambar it is more amazing.
Service is good, like the ordered food will be in front of you in 2 minutes.
Overall - Good place to have breakfast
Food has good taste, almost authentic. Service is excellent. Atmosphere is average. But I guess that's what keeps customers like us going back to get our memories....
Kamat hotel is the one which I have been going since my childhood. The only thing which I like most is the BUTTER MASALA DOSA. No where in entire south I get this kind of unique taste at least for me, that includes the stuffing inside the dosa.
I have been eating here from last 20 years, they still maintain the same taste which is very unique of its own.
A good pure veg hotel in Hyderabad, tasty food, both North and South food. They have three branches. All are always busy and crowded
I have personally enjoyed having thali for lunch. It's wholesum and satisfying experience for anyone who enjoys having puri/roti Sabji, dal rice, curd and a sweet to end the meal with
Good place to visit for vegetarians. Their dish Basundi is a must try. Loved it.
Good food, great service. Although it is a busy restaurant, they maintain staff to make sure people won't wait long for service. The food is very tasty. Being an old restaurant, they maintain standards. Everyone should visit and have at least some items like butter masala dosa, poori, sambar rice and filter coffee.

Visited this restaurant after about 25 years and it has same ambiance and I believe most of the same staff serving in the restaurant. We had butter Masala Dosa with coconut chutney and the taste is same old authentic. Onion Rawa is perfectly crispy with delicious kurma and Puri with Kurma is just good. I think they should improve a bit on time taken on serving the food. Otherwise, the staff is polite and courteous.
