The Dukes Retreat is an experience to enjoy by itself. We loved the array of cuisines overlooking the beautiful and unique landscape view surrounded by the verdant hills of Khandala. The Pizza was perfect & crisp to our liking just after swim.Along side loved the French Fries bowl to our surprise it wasn’t oily at all. We also tried among the wide varieties of mocktails. A perfect place to unwind your weekend getaway!
We went there for a morning breakfast.
We had some cereals and omelettes with juices and tea.
Overall the spread was very decent and tasty.
There was a good amount of crowd there.
The best part is the view and ambience of the place
We liked it very much
We were four of us and went there for the morning breakfast where we enjoyed a lot as the preparations were really fresh and refreshing for us. We were amazed to see the quality and courtesy of the staff. Pure ecstasy to be there.
Will return someday for detailed dinner
Pretty place, amazing getaway...and yummy food!
The dal makhani n jeera rice here is bAE, I must say unique dishes like rajma ke kabab, aloo tikki chaat and paneer tikka were what I tried.
According to the non veggie friends the mutton rosh is just out of the world!
The lemon coriander soup had all the exotic veggies of the world!!!
N the tomato soup was just amazinggggg n yummilicious.
It is expensive but the view and place is worth It especially when you wish to run away from all your worries!
One side pool and one side valley...wow
Must goooooo n dine here as well as stay here
I love this place for it's view.
Period.
Drive down on a lazy afternoon through the Pune Expressway and the ghats. Reach there by 5.30 PM. Take a vantage table with a view in the open air cafe with awestrucking view. Order for a hot cup of tea with some pakodas and enjoy the sunset. Believe me this works on all seasons unless offcourse it's raining cats and dogs. This is such a wonderful place for a long drive and tea. All mumbaikars should definitely try.
Otherwise there are other food options too in this restaurant and other restaurants in the same hotel
I would give the all stars for the view and the staff but some foods in menu is not available like pasta n we ordered coldcoffee but wasnt that good.. Whatever food we eat was making us full in a one piece os samosa itself.. There are less variety of food available here
A place to spend a quite rainy day with your friends and family. Absolutely breathtaking view and soothing ambience. Food is also quite decent. Though it could be served hot especially with the weather like this.
The only drawback is the price which little over the budget. However in Lonavala and Khandala even street food is overpriced so this aspect can be overlooked if you want to bring smile to your loved ones by bringing them here 🙂
Great place
What a way to start 1st meal of ur day with awesome view ,great rain and u having garma garam poha , dosa , paratha or omellete
Great show in terms of buffets
Good combination of Punjabi , south Indian , continental and Italian preparation
Awesome place should visit atleast once when in lonavala
This place is not only a treat to one's taste buds but to your eyes too. Fall for this place every time I visit it. Indian food is quite good here and they have good buffet option. It's a medium expensive restaurant given it buys you amazing valley view so you may not mind shelling extra. Must visit.
One of the best scenic cafes created at the edge of the cliff and at the top of the mountain at Lonavala
It's scenic views especially in the monsoon is really amazing and they serve out some nice authentic maharashtrian snacks like kanda poha and misal and for someone who likes his typical club sandwich of a hotel you will also get that
Get a large cup of tea and keep sipping or then that nice hotel old style cold coffee with ice cream and you can't go wrong in here!!
Must early morning or late evening and you can see the clouds pass you in the rains here!!
At Duke's Retreat, one gets a kind of unique experience with good views and a sense of isolation right in the midst of everything ! Started by Nirbhau Limaye and Bandhu Gokhale 45 years ago, and then passing to more business like management this establishment has been on a continuous upward curve! Visit here, stay here, and you will enjoy the food and the atmosphere!
Amazing place with amazing view.. Very polite staff and very courteous service... Highly recommended for a nice time with friends and family.
This review is about the food that was served to us on 13th & 14th of July 2015, at the Banquet Hall 'Lotus'. I would like to salute the chef who prepared the 'Goan Fish Curry' and the 'Salli Botti'. It was just out of the world. I could sense the passion of the person who had prepared it. Thank you!
Visited with colleagues for a breakfast on Saturday morning, straight from Pune. Well known place in area and offers a mind blowing view of hills and Mumbai-Pune expressway. It has swimming pool and kid's play area too. So, you can enjoy your weekend with kids over this place and the family will love it. Ambience is great and food is decent. We opted buffet and found some challenges to get some dishes/drinks, which got finished in buffet line. Overall a must visit place, just that the service should be bit improved...Over and Out.
The cafe offers, as the name suggests, a lovely panoramic view of the hills. The best seats are in the open, if the weather permits. The verandah behind the café is actually the best place for panoramic shots of the Ghats. The service at the Café, though, is pathetic. Requests take forever at the Café.
The breakfast at the Café is a baby-version of the one at the main restaurant. Barring a few breads and juices, and a live counter for Dosas, the Café didn’t have anything much.
Leaving aside the good view, it makes better sense to eat at the main restaurant, Duchess, when at the Duke Retreat.
Who doesn't want to dine in a picturesque and serene place? And what better than The Dukes Retreat? It really makes you feel like a Duke of some place. Loved the ambiance. The food and service were great too.
Stayed at Dukes retreat over the weekend... Spacious clean rooms with picturesque view... Food is average... But the location of hotel is amazing... Panorama cafe, deck... Must visit once if looking for places nearby mumbai to relax...
Stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed excellent view from rm 109 facing valley and mountains from room itself which is hard to see in Mumbai and water fall from room Sundeck was amazing. Hats off to the hotel team for maintaining good service and greenery around the hotel.
We could see sunrise from our room which was total beauty. Massage service was too good.
We stayed at Dukes Retreat over a weekend. Great location, spacious room with expressway n valley view, swimming pool, magic show and more. We had lunch n dinner buffets at Dutch and Panorama restaurant. They have same menu, Panorama is semi open on top deck. Food and taste is good, but service at Panorama is just ordinary. Typical punjabi menu with some live counters for pasta n noodles....
We stayed at Dukes retreat for two days and had our breakfast, lunch and dinner at buffe served at Panaroma cafe.
The view from restaurant is breath-taking. Buffe variety, quality of food and taste was awesome. Live counters were too good. Staff is very polite and excellent. A very good place overall.
When we went to Lonavala for a drive, suddenly the day turned out to be rainy and cloudy. We stopped by Dukes to have a cup of hot tea and some snack to complement the weather.
We went to this cafe with a view of the valley, beautiful foggy view. We ordered onion pakoda which was okay ish and tea was good. We spent a good 1 hour or so enjoying the weather and view.
This place this place is nice and this ambience is so good my kids are play well and their eat this food very full of stomach and this is so tasty and me food
Good food and live preparation of South Indian food is awesome..Nice ambience to accompany with..
Definately overpriced. Food n service is good. The menu can have more varieties of food items. Location is stunning.
The experience was good. But prices are skyhigh. But again, its a 5star restraunt.(its inside Dukes Retreat)
The cafe is near to pool area and has a very good ambience for couples and families.
Only been here couple of times for breakfast. They have a good spread in breakfast buffet. Service is good staff is polite and the view is amazing.
