Excellent Buffet at Tharavadu restaurant....... We visited first time here and the food was just wowwww!!!!!! Excellent service by the staff and a very pleasant atmosphere. They have live band on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday brunch also
We visited here after seeing the fantastic reviews in the trip advisor. Dropped for Breakfast and I must say that it was awesome. They got international bread station, local and indian verities. Also noticed some of the not common items like avil, steamed banana etc
The biryani is this restaurant never disappoints. Everything they cook is scrumptious and mouth watering. The live music on Saturdays picks your mood up like nothing else.
We tried the buffet lunch on a Sunday . Even though the spread was not large, food was delicious. Soup can be improved. Starters and Main course was excellent and desserts were outstanding! Ambiance and service is great.
Rating 4.2/5
Ambience is Super Good! Staff Very Friendly & Experienced. Food Excellent. Very Consistent always!! Always a delightful Experience overall...
Zomato Gold worked well. Ordered biryani, quantity and quality was really good. Worth to spend and have good ambience. Courteous staff and hygienic rest rooms. Must try the buffet spread.
Been coming to this hotel for idk how long now. Had gone for a buffet lunch. Took the package with unlimited wine and beer. Food was really good and VFM. Special mention for the pork and the churros. Good service overall
Came here after a busy day. The ambience was good. The place is clean and not much of unnecessary noise. Its calm and peaceful. I ordered buffet for the lunch. All the dishes wer good. Loved the desserts too. Overall it was a very good experience. Will be definitely visiting again. Cheers.
Thanks and Regards
Bibin.
One of the Oldest hotel in Cochin at willingdon iceland. The buffet offers 5 meat main course. Food is delicious and succulant. Very affordable price of buffet. Enjoy live music during dinner.
One of the finest dining experience we had with great live band singing some of our old favourites , excellent food with an outstanding courteous service of the staff .and to add to it , made it special for all the mothers , thanks would definitely love to visit again
Best experience. We go there once in a while as a family. Soft music and best food in town. Nothing more to ask for. It is a must-go place to spend value time with friends and family. Three cheers !!!
Was here for lunch this afternoon with family and I must say the buffet here is the best I have had so far in Cochin. The spread is very good consisting of 5 non vegetarian options and enough and more vegetarian options. The non vegetarian options in particular were excellent. The Beef Emince, Chinese Chicken Roast, The Poached Fish, The Chicken Rogan Josh and the Fish Biriyani are definitely worth a mention. The vegetarian options were good too, but the non vegetarian options were stellar. The dessert section lacked variety although what was available was good. The Raspberry Panacotta and the Lemon Meringue Pie are worth a mention. One suggestion - I think Ice Cream should be available as it would serve as an accompaniment to a lot of hot and cold desserts. The service was very prompt and the staff very pleasant. All in all a definite recommendation for anyone in Cochin looking for good food. Cheers.
A delectable spread. Laid back ambience..fantastic to enjoy a comfortable meal with family. Had the lunch buffet. Service was spot on. The soup and salads were great particularly the cream of mashroom soup n chicken salad. The mains included 5 non veg and an equal array of veg selections. The fish moile and the baked fish stood out over the Korean pork and the Chicken dishes. The grilled beef too was succulent. The deserts section had ample an more to spoil you for choises. Personally, I settled for a fruit platter and penacota while the kids indulged in a chocolate rush trail with the pastries and ice creams. Overall an amazing experience with spot on service.
Good food and excellent service ....the ambience of the hotel is good...the service is good and staff is very friendly ...special thanks to Mr George for making our visit memorable
We had a family dinner here on a Friday night. It was a Birthday celebration, and it became all the more special when the Live band played for the little kid while he cut the cake.
About the food,we opted for the Buffet, and there were good amount of choices available for everyone. The food was delicious, lovely ambience, and excellent service.
Just one drawback though, the restaurant toilets needed attention.
Late post.. Was there for the Lunch Buffet with my family! Good Food with loads of pastries/desserts. If you love roti/Naan, don't forget to order them. It comes free with the buffet package.
Food is really good for the money. But the availability of booze is pretty limited, at least the day i went. The nen veg food was really great.
I stayed at The Casino hotel located at Fort Kochi with my wife and kid. The breakfast buffet was served by the hotel at their restaurant Tharavadu. It is a multi-cuisine restaurant and the food was too good. The setting of the restaurant where it was served is such that only 2-3 tables are visible to a guest at one time which gives the impression that the restaurant is not very crowded. I found this particularly a plus point as it makes the whole breakfast time very peaceful and quiet.
The breakfast was pretty lavish. In fruits, they were serving papaya, water melon and musk melon with fresh pineapple juice to whet one’s appetite. It had idli, vada, sambhar and one could order Uttapam, Dosa through the live cooking station. One thing that I liked the most was their Onion chutney which was being served with the South Indian food. There were small cheese sandwiches and pizza slices, grilled tomatoes which were done to perfection and were really juicy, boiled vegetables and mashed potatoes, roast chicken and a live station for eggs. In desserts, there was muffin and Danish pastry which was mind-blowing. It was a very satisfying buffet meal which I had after a long time. I ended the buffet with a hot cup of masala chai which was delectable.
Only one recommendation to the hotel that they should have baby chairs with holders. The baby chair which was provided to us at the restaurant did not have a holder and was therefore not at all useful to us.
Overall, a very good place to have a peaceful and tasty breakfast.
I was riding with couple of my clients who were from Norway. They wanted to have Indian breakfast and we were in Wellington so we decided to have breakfast from here. It was a buffet but Indian menu was poor. They had dosa, kallu appam and idly. However, kallu appam was over by the time we had took plates. The food was tasty and the ambience is good.
had buffet dinner. nice ambience, music was good but a bit loud. mutton curry was avoidable (bland), pork fry, fish curry and fish croquette was really nice. chicken soup was avoidable (tasted like rasam). ingredients of the three salads were same, though appearance differed. desserts were up to the mark. friendly staff.
The buffet here competes for the #1 spot with Marriott for buffets in Kochi. The best continental food on a buffet in Kochi. Excellent service too and nice live music on weekends. Nice offers available through Dealgun where you get some good mocktails. But it's the excellent food that is the best part. Good soups too.
I have been to this place more times than I care to count and needless to say the food is good. They have both buffet and a la carte, the buffet giving a wide range to choose from. The ambience is good with live music and crowd usually consists of a good number of foreigners. You can always go to this place and come back happy.
We went here for dinner and ordered the jhinga jaithuni, kozhi pal pizhinja (chicken) curry, prawn roast and the fish curry.
The jhinga jaithuni was very very good and is a must try, if you ever visit. The rest of the dishes were also not bad. I loved the fish curry since it was quite spicy. I wasn't a big fan of the chicken and other prawn dish, but the prawns were fresh and chicken, tender.
Overall it was a nice meal.
Had a office party at their banquet, so had the buffet spread as per the pre-decided menu. The snacks were too good which left most people full way before dinner was opened up. Main course dishes were all good with fresh appams being served. Desserts had an amazing chocolate mouse cake and gajar halwa which was ok. Overall a good experience with a wide spread of dishes.
Breakfast buffet was excellent with two broad menus : continental and keralite (n south indian). They change the indian menu on a daily basis. The juice is bland and cut fruits portions are very ordinary.

A buffet with a good decent spread. Being a non vegetarian, I was more focused towards that. Buffet had around 5-6 non-veg dishes which included Fish, Pork, Turkey, Beef, etc. And had various Indian breads on order. Overall it is quite worth for the money we shed out.
I was here for the team lunch. The number of options were very few (Only one) for Non-veg. main course and that left us a little disappointed. The starters were good with limited options. We really enjoyed the raw mango drink that was served. The dessert was good but no ice cream.
Its been a long while since I've been to any place in Wellington island and I decided to go for the Saturday night buffet at Casino. The place seemed to have good reviews on Zomato. I called, was told getting a reservation was advisable it being a Saturday and all, and therefore got one.
The place was quite empty, only four tables were occupied, and we clearly didn't need reservations. A live band was playing some really good numbers. Once seated, we were handed over the menu card for the buffet. One thing I noticed straight away was that number-of-dishes wise, their menu was quite limited. It didnt have the regular 10 salads, 10 desserts, live counters for chats and the like, all of which most people hardly ever try. But they seemed to focus on what really mattered - over 6 meat/fish dishes !!
We were served the complimentary drink - a Raw Mango and lime concoction, we absolutely loved it. We asked for the Veg puree fish soup. It was thick, creamy and had all the right flavours. We were obviously bowled over by then. For mains we had a little of everything. Although EVERYTHING was really yummy, it was the Japanese fish fry and the kuttanadan duck roast that really stood out for me. They had a live counter for Chicken Tempura, which was the one thing I didn't quite like. I felt the batter was too thick. The desserts were quite good too, especially the baked Yogurt. I've never had baked Yogurt before, and it was delicious.
For 1020 all inclusive, I really loved the buffet at Tharavadu. Their drinks are all towards the pricier side, I wouldnt recommend getting drinks there. If ever I have guests to entertain, I'd most certainly take them to Tharavadu. Great food, good music, would've been great if it had more crowd to liven the place up.
The first ever buffet experience in childhood, continues today too. Casino is great for buffet. Lovely ambience and excellent service. Soothing live music for a lovely dining experience . I always look forward in having the dinner buffets from casino. It's a wide array of different cuisines that puts us in great confusion... Desserts are even better!! . 😅... Good food calls for a good review. :)
It was long ago, probably in 2009 that I went here for their legendary buffet with my sister and brother in law. I have to admit that so far, thats the best buffet I have ever tasted. The taste of chilli beef still comes to my mind. I have already fixed this place for my next trip to cochin.
Spread was alright..service was excellent..was here for my brother's and sister's wedding anniversary...they made us cut a cake, and a congratulations song was played ..mm...a lot of ppl do it these days(but I felt special)..overall a good dining experience...
Casino hotel. A well known place for peaceful dining. Though the inner atmo is not so appealing. Food is tasty, can enjoy delicious sea food. They always include the best in type dishes for buffet. Should try if you are not allergic to seafood. A candle light dinner is worth trying.
I've tried there food 3 times. First was buffet, the next was for my cousin's marriage food menu tasting and third for his marriage. I really have to say the food is genuinly good.
I really dont know if they still catch live fish in front of you and prepare the way you like. That was just a very different experince. Their tender coconut suffle was just awesome. I could tell you.. Just excellent experince
One of the best buffets in Kochi! Very nice ambience and variety of delicious food along with awesome desserts. It was worth drive to the Island and to this place. A must go restaurant!
The Tharavad restaurant is a part of the iconic Casino Hotel located near to the old Cochin Harbour Terminus Railway Station in the Willingdon Island.. their buffet and cuisine have traditionally been the symbolic acme of fine dining for ages.. though the decor is no longer worthy of any extraordinary comments (due to the advent of numerous newer and modern restaurants all over Cochin), their service, cleanliness, hospitality and of course culinary prowess is worth reporting .. the Tharavadu has an extensive alacarte menu and is the first choice for lunch buffet anywhere in the South.. they serve every style of cooking and are in my opinion amongst the best in continental and traditional kerala cuisine.. their continental spread targeted mainly at their loyal foreign clientele throws up an amazing choice in pennes, seafood, meat of any kind and some exceptional steak and sizzlers.. on the traditional side, their kerala spread include some delicious beef and chicken fries, meat curries, appams with amazing stews, and spicy coconut flavoured fish curries.. the buffet is lavish... with wide ranging choice in starters and salads, main courses (of all styles) and desserts especially their tarts, pastries and blueberry cheesecakes.. if it is food you cant get it wrong here.. worth the 1400/- for 2.
An old school classic. Excellent food with excellent service. Always enjoyed my visit here.
The buffet spread at casino hotel was really nice. There were a variety of dishes to choose from. You had food from fish to prawns to pork as well as beef. The salads were good especially the chicken salad. I loved the fried rice and the Chinese fish curry that was there. It was a combination of different fishes from prawns to squid etc. The desserts were even better. They had a lemon tart which had a good acidity to it. They also had blueberry tart, chocolate cake which was soooo delicious as it had various layers to it, pineapple cake, gulab jamuns etc. I simply could not stop tasting the chocolate cake. There was a hard crust and the center was gooey melt in your mouth. Enjoyed thoroughly. The welcome drink was raw mango juice which was also really nice. It has sweet sour taste which I loved!!
The Casino Group is the Premier Eco Friendly hotel chain in Kerala. They have expanded over the years and added several very unique and fine properties.Having visited virtually all of them they do maintain a very high standard of Service and offer excellent cusines and overall outrank the Taj,Meridiand and other chains. The casino on Willingdon Island is the first and oldest property. Its main restaurant the Tharavadu serves Buffets aswell as offers a wide selection of ala carte .The Continental dishes are generally well prepared, pastas, seafood meat dishes, the Chinese is above average but not their forte. The North indian tandoori dishes etc are very tasty and well made, the dal and veggy dishes and the red meats. The Kerala offerings are naturally the forte and the place has been well known for the beef fry which is fabulous, the karimeins, appams, stews, parathas, chicken fry and curries etc are all well prepared ,tasty with the typical Kerala flavours and aromas. You cant go wrong at the Tharavadu and will surely come back for more. The atmosphere is pleasing and seating is comfy and coupled with attentive and effecient service the experience overall is one to remember. So go for it !!!!
Went to Casino on a nice overcast late evening for the buffet dinner. The spread is limited compared to other fine dining options but many of the dishes were mouth watering and heavenly. The stand out dishes were cut beef with pepper sauce and creamy seafood salad. There are 8 items in the dessert and I liked Tiramisu and passion fruit mousse the most. The spread also had two types of fishes and chilly pork too.
Tip:
1) Used swiggy dineout to get 30% off without any conditions or pre-booking.
2) if you want naan and similar items please ask for it. We were asked quote late just before we went for desserts.
3) There are not many seafood items , if you wish to try them go to the seafood restaurant for their ala carte dinner.
The place was really good. The buffet spread was limited but covered different cuisines. I personally loved the egg plant starter 😋. The desserts were also really good.
Such a beautiful restaurant. Buffet spread is really nice. I haven’t seen any other place in kochi which serves pork in buffet and pork was really tasty. The staffs were very attentive and polite. Highly recommended.
Tasty food which could be spicier (see below) served in ambient & clean surroundings with a lovely waterfall outside by friendly & helpful staff led by Rahana who is exceptional. & supported by helpful Manoj & Siva as well. There is a wide variety of desserts especially the delightful pastries together with the Bread & Butter pudding! & several fruits are available to choose from as well with delicious cold coffee ☕️ , yogurt drink & tasty masala dosa.
The food did become spicer & was delicious.
Best brunches and buffets 😍
The best. Helpful and kind staff and their service is excellent.
Food is always the best.
Not even a single thing is compromised in here.
We don’t hv a second thought when it comes to special occasions . 😍😍😍
Desserts are the best part .
A decent buffet with very good quality food.
The spread which lacks in numbers does make up the quality and taste. The veg lassagnia was great so was the desserts. Customer service is also exceptional. I liked the rusty ambience well. The place was and it was a friday lunch!!!
Food was good with a wide spread. Maintaned the standard as before. Ambience good with music. However areas of improvement can be on the communication capabilities of staff. Refilling of Desserts was found wanting till closure
The one of the best buffet I have had till date. The quality and the service was impeccable. The spread was nice. I felt the dessert section could have been a bit better. Overall top notch stuff. Recommended.
Good ambiance...serves a variety of cuisines, including Kerala, Indian, Continental, and Chinese. The restaurant has a spacious and elegant dining room. The service is attentive and friendly. The food is delicious and freshly prepared. I tried the kerala chicken curry with kerala porotta and chicken hawaiian salad.. Everything was perfectly cooked and flavored... You must try... I strongly recommended to my followers.. Ample car parking space...
Excellent buffet, nice and kind staffs, hospitality and food too good. Tried buffet for lunch, tried almost dishes, whatever they provide was nice. Lightings and lot of spaces for taking pictures. Overall do try ❤️, and parking services available and they do have lot of seating space.
Came here as a family for their Sunday brunch buffet and mocktails.
They have two pricings for Sunday brunch (buffet menu): with cocktails or mocktails. We chose the latter which is approximately 1200 INR/person. They had a choice of two mocktails - blue lagoon and shirley temple.
Service: Fantastic, attentive staff.
Place/aesthetics: The restaurant has a slightly worn out look, I believe the establishment has been around for several years. The sofas are definitely in need of some upkeep and I noticed food on the floor around our table which I flagged up in our feedback survey. Otherwise, it's a cozy place.
Food: Really fantastic buffet. It is a little on the spicier side FYI. They had two soups (the chicken thai soup was delicious) and a variety of salads as starters. There's a good vegetarian and non-veg selection, with some traditional Kerala dishes thrown in (kappa, meen curry, thoran, chicken biriyani etc). They had a few Chinese-style dishes to choose from as well. The dessert counter had a good selection of items, including churros when I went. I'd have to say, the sweet dishes didn't hit the spot as much as their main dishes did.
Price: I’d say it’s a pretty good deal considering the variety and taste of the buffet items.
Would I go back? Yes!
Good food, excellent service. I totally love dining out here and would visit again.
Food quality was good. But expected a bigger spread for the price being charged. Nice service and cozy ambience.
Good Restaurant....have a lots of varieties of food dishes.....good manners and excellent services from staff....dishes are very tasty....had a good stay and food
Vary good ambience and variety options in buffet.its a must try.i visited on a weekday which was not crowded.
