Good location, good food. Realtime fish items are good but little expensive. Food pricing is good. Ambience was also nice.Tried almost all non veg dishes and it was good except chicken patiala. Special Coctail juice was delicious. For a group of people, sitting and dining together will be an issue. They have arranged some seperate facility for that with an extra 10% charge. Overall experience was good.
Awesome place for authentic Arabic food. The Kasba rice was a disaster for the Mallu tongue palette, too blank. Try the Kebabs, really great.
Review update after 7 months -- Prices have shot up off the roof, blame on GST, I don't know... Food still tastes great, some waiters could learn a lesson or two on treating customers with a smile instead of a frown...
The restaurant has half closed off like cubicles for eating which gives us a sense of privacy and has seating upstairs also. We ordered 1. Porotta and 2. Chilly chicken dry along with an 3. Apple milkshake. The chicken dish was finger licking good, not too spicy. The shake was also pretty okay served in a tall glass. The waiter who served us was although not too prompt and seemed a bit standoffish. The rates are also reasonable.
Here you get fish as per your selection.. Rest of that nothing special. I had chicken Briyani which quite good ambience is average. Food is OK. Staffs coopertive

Preferably a spot for seafood lovers, you can visually select your seafood placed in a glass ice box. That's how transparent they are about the freshness of their seafood.
It's a multi-leveled restaurant with a private dining area for families on the above floor( wow!)
The private area is a small air-conditioned cubicle, with an L-shaped diwan (very typically mid-eastern style). A bell is to be rung from inside for calling the server. A very interesting concept indeed !
Coming to the food:
Food is placed on a plastic sheet ( known as dastar-khwan)laid down on the floor.

Black peppered chicken curry , made in typical Kerala style. In my entire trip, this was the only place that impressed me with their local taste !

Soft, not rubbery, nice and buttery- a simple item which is easy to disappoint, but here it did not.
5.Kerala parotha
Layers and layers parotha, thick and filled with ghee. Crispy and just another taste. Dwell into this locally made super yummy but extremely heavy on the tummy parotha.
Shockingly , with the quality of food served and the hospitality received , our total bill was extremely reasonable!

Visited many times here.The most attracting thing here is the interior.I always like to have their Tandoori chicken,porotta,kozhy varutharachath and magic lime.I did not find a better porotta than Majlis's in ernakulam.
Although a bit over priced, the food here is good. I visited this place with my friends for a treat. We ordered malai kofta, butter chicken and parathas. The portion sizes were quite small for the price and we had to order them again as they got over quickly in five spoon takes. Ambience is quite okay. Will visit here again.
The Arabic food that we get here is purely genuine and authentic. And the quantity is whopping. Its reasonable too. If you looking to enjoy a good time with your family or friends, throw in some Arabic style with Cochin Majilis.. its going to be great...
They have the good biriyaani ever! The most thing i hate here is Kabsa! i wasted almost half of the plate! all other food have good taste! overall the restaurant is ok ok!
This place is good .. Nice ambience .. good food.. Al Faham and prawns biriyani are great ..but only problem is service .. the waiters here are sort of arrogant.. if they improve that then .. awesome place to chill. They even provide Hookah !
I think they need to catch up a lot. They serve the same old varieties in Arabic food which is way too old in kochi. They don't even have hummus although they are specifically serving Arabic cuisine. The Mandi rice is good and the Kabsa is so mediocre. The delivery nevertheless the prompt.

Been there just once..seating arrangement is good and the food was ok! Parking space was not a problem.Overall it is a good restaurant.. with reasonable rates!! Not a bad place to spend ur evening.

You have a good atmosphere and some good private place to have a chat. You can select seafood of your choice and prepare on your demand. also some nice arabian foods.
Fish is nice would recommend all to try out and speak with chef at the entrance your demands.
Arabian food is good kabsa not the finest you get but still one among the better you get in kochi.
Parking wont be a problem and you have ambient place to sit inside comfortably
Unlike other restaurants, this one relates with the name. 3/4th of the space is dedicated for the majlis where you can relax with your loved ones. Place looks shabby inside. You get to choose from the displayed fish. I would suggest you go for the fish and grilled items, and not the Arabian rice. They really lack the authentic taste. Squid and Faham was great. Juices not that great. Can opt if you want private Space with family and friends.
Used to frequently visit this place till I moved elsewhere. The place is pretty good. Good ambience and good staff. The tables are decently ordered giving enough privacy for everyone.
An authentic Arabic restaurant by name but also servers various other cuisines. Have tried a lot of dishes and not one did disappoint. Some dishes have their unique signatures and are good. There is also a live fish counter ( Haven't tried that because of a long waiting time ).

Visited this place on a sunday evening with family. Was quite apprehensive about the vegetarian dishes since mostly non- veg places disappoints us when it comes to veg dishes.
We ordered rotis, wheat porottas, aloo gobi and gobi manchurian. To my surprise everything tasted really really good. The porottas were hot fluffy and crispy. The aloo gobi was right on masalas and the gobi manchurian was fresh and with thick gravy. Really liked the taste.
A really nice place and im sure to visit again.!!!
Yesterday I had mutton manthi & Alfaham from Majlis...nice food n the ambience also looks good. Kudos to team..Suggestion : pls serve normal water n don't force customers to use the package water which is cost 20rs/bottle.

We were told about this place by another big foodie. When I checked in Zomato, there were mixed reviews for this place. Still we wanted to give a try. Hence my husband and I were drafting a weekend plan to visit this place after a movie. 5pm movie at Oberon and dinner at Majilis was the best thing that happened.
The ambience is very pleasant, good seating place, apt lighting.
They have a live seafood counter where we can select the item we want to be fried. We did not try any.
The paper table mats have puzzles and I started solving them. They do not provide drinking water, only mineral water bottles.
As soon as we got the menu card, our eyes were only on the Arabian dishes Column and ignored all usual Chinese, tandoor, Indian breads, biryanis etc. We ordered chicken Mandhi, Al-Fahm half and finger fish. Chicken mandhi seems to be an Arabian chicken biryani. There was a bed of rice underneath which was sleeping a chicken's thigh. I started grabbing as soon as we received it and then later realised that I have to take photo ( all photos will have some items missing...born with a huge appetite ;) ). Mandhi is not a great biryani for those who love Malabar biryani and Hyderabadi biryani. Al-fahm was ultimate. Fish fingers were made from neimeen (vanjaram meen) and was yummy. We couldn't finish and parcelled the remaining Al-fahm home. Did not have any dessert item as I did not want the taste to leave my tongue. My husband had tea and in the name of tasting, I almost finished half as it was very tasty and relishing.
The bill amount was very nominal.
I will definitely visit Cochin Majilis again...
"So many dishes...So little time (and stomach capacity)"
P.S. Will start my week's exercise routine to burn the calories eaten..a good health is a must to keep tasting all the dishes from different eat outs..

I visited the Calicut branch of majlis for the first time, the first thing that catches your attention is their great hospitality, we were asked to be seated in the lounge while they arranged our seating.. They served us lime juice, and within 15 minutes we were allotted the seats in the second floor. The place was bustling with families, the interiors were cosy and beautiful.. reminded us of an Arabic tent setting...!We ordered Al-fahm, malai tikka, garlic paste.. , butter naan...And fried rice + chilli chicken as a take away..
Al fahm was yummy, so was the garlic paste.. It was served along with other condiments like khubbus, salad, and garlic paste.. The khubbus was fresh and fluffy..! Malai tikka came along with green mint chutney and salad, malai tikka did justice to its name! The tikka peices were coated so much with cream! That tasted better with the mint chutney .
Fried Rice and chilli chicken tasted good too !
Ambience and their hospitality are definitely the winners! Great value for money.!

Tried the live seafood counter....found it a good idea where you select from their seafood counter by the weight & ask them to prepare it the way you like...Being a seafood lover, thats all i had = tossed prawns, king fish fry, carmine, all fresh & made with minimal oil.
Excellent place for budget Seafood and Kebabs. Has live sea food counter with excellent Masala Crab. Messy but marvelous. Seriously good Kebabs
Some of the items are just in the menu cards. Had to settle for a kabsa, alfam... Food was okie.. Service pleasant, the wait time should be improved. Juices and the rest of the stuff is normal. It was one of the first places in Kochi to serve arabian.
They have a fish counter where you can choose the desired fish and they will make the desired dish for you. They will tell you the kg. rate and for that rate they will make the dish for you which is good. They have Arab Dining room kind of set up in the upstairs. Food will be kept on the mat on the floor and there are small sofas - low heighted ones where you can sit and have food. They have regular seats as well. You will see lot of Arabian guests in here to have food. Overall good restaurant, food is fine. Little delay in delivery but good service.
This is one of those restaurants where you can choose any of the fish displayed and they cook it as per your preference. The only drawback is if you prefer to eat a big fish, you need to buy the whole thing. They don't serve fishes in small portions. Service and ambience is above average. Air conditioning on the ground floor is poor as you will soon start sweating on a hot afternoon. The food is good so coming here for a second time is not a bad decision.

I have visited this place twice. One was long back for dinner. We had arabian kabsa and neimeen fish fry. Here they provide us the option of selecting a fish of our choice and then they prepare the dish as per our wish. Customization is always appealing for foodies like me. The next visit was very recent. Immediatly after a movie in lulu mall. Time was well past 4 pm and were in doubt whether we will get anything to eat . We ordered chicken biriyani which was very good in taste. We also ordered irani kebab which was decent. Ambience is okay. A little confusing once you enter as there are lot of doors.
Been thinking of going here whenever i pass through that area..the ambience is great..though the food is not that great..we tried an al fahm and it was pretty ordinary as compared to real arabia..still want to try their seafood..the concept of making the customers select from what is displayed at the entrance is good :-)

Visited this place for a weekly lunch along with one of my friend.
Good decent ambience but little cramped for space.
They have a big display place for fish wherein we can select the fresh catch of the day and suggest the kind of preparation required.
We ordered for the seer fish fry and prawns onion fry to accompany our fish curry meals. You get unlimited rice and also the servings of the dishes are repeated. Fish curry meals are well priced at 150 rupees per meal.
Food quality is good and also the variety of foods on offer.
Also heard that they serve Arabian dishes, have to visit again to try those cuisine.
You can select raw fish from the front counter and they will fry it for you. The wait time was above 20 minutes. Food was really tasty. A must try place if you are a fish lover.

An average hotel with decent food. Had an Al faham chicken and hummus and the food was tasty. The place was crowded downstairs for lunch on a weekday. They also provide private cabins on the topmost floor with floor cushions which I find a boon when visiting with a large group of friends or family. Parking was also not a problem.
