Curry was delicious (Chicken Varattiyathu), it was as tasty and spicy as expected. Porotta ordered was very rough and tough. Definitely recommend you to taste the Curry.
The name has it all. It is setup like a shaap but their food is amazing. If you go there make it a point to try put their Chicken Biriyani and also Porotta and Butter Chicken. Then coming to meals they are average and very affordably priced. Frequent visitor and I recommend this too.
Went for having special meals but apparently they stopped giving special meals due to lack of profit. So tried biriyani.fantastic biriyani.Totally worth the money paid.
Orders:
Appam and fish mulakittathu
Even though the appam was not fluffy, the combination was yummy.
Would recommend this spot for authentic Kerala food lovers.
This is worth it!!! If you are looking for meals option, this is the best place... Their special meals is a star...With fish, chicken & clam fry (kakka irachi)... Each dish is worth at a reasonable price of around 150/-. Kerala naadan food in Kochi :-)
Good food,
good traditional kerala style ambiance both indoor & outdoor places,
enough parking space available
Everything at very reasonable price!!
Good food and service. We ordered meals and fish fry . Both of them were pretty good. Fish was perfectly marinated and cooked to perfection. Pocket friendly.
The Chicken Biriyani is just yum❤️. It is set up almost like a "shaap". The service is very good. Overall it's a good place but lacks in ambience. Also try out their Porotta and Butter Chicken.
Chicken biriyani too delicious.. enough quantity and really fast serving.. definitely a best place for biriyani lovers and nadan Kerala non veg lovers..
Me and my friend used to be a frequent customer here...There is outdoor seating ..The ambience is the best...Decor is excellent...Food is decent...The biriyani here is great .. Especially the chicken ...Beef is also good ... sometimes service can become slow
A good restaurant which gives shap style food. It's less spicy food compared to a toddy shop. We ordered a special meals. For 140 bucks it's worth it. Service is average and ambience is good.
Food - 4
Service - 3
ambience - 3.5
Cost - 3.5
This is a no - nonsense simple place . U get what u paid for , neat and clean restaurant . Ample parking space , easily accessible from Vytilla jn. ( opp.Vytilla hub). Good food and easy on the pocket.
A place that is conveniently located to the hub with car parking facility. Have been here numerous times and the quality of the food have been the same. The waiters are all smiles and attentive. Varieties of beef, chicken will surely not disappoint. Appams, porottas, pathiri etc are served warm. The only dislike is the unavailability of tea late evening.
For a person who loves the traditional Kerala Non Vegetarian cuisine... This would be a very good spot. Their Kerala style chicken fry was a delight. And their beef was really good. The place is easy on the pocket and the food is really good.
A brilliant spot for non-vegetarian meals.. Order their special meals for 130 and get rice, sambhar, 2 veg side dishes, chicken, fish curry, fish fry and fried clams.. excellent in terms of value for money... Well above average in terms of taste and extremely friendly and courteous staff.. I've ventured to try their prawns fry and neymeen pollichathu but they didn't quite hit the spot.. their chicken biriyani, on the other hand, is extremely satisfactory..
Tresa Remin Varghese
+4.5
A very nice place to have authentic kerala naadan food... The once you get in steer side toddy shops or shaapu. The kappa or tapioca, karimeen pollichathu, koonthal or squid roast, chicken curry, kakka or clam fry, pathiri or thin flat rice bread are the best we have ever had. They serve their food in fresh cut cleaned banana leaves cut in the plate shape. And what amazed me the most was it was all worth what we payed for!!! And ample parking space too... My only concern regarding this place is that they serve the curries very little in quantity. But all together very good and i will certainly go back and have more of food there!
Had heard about this place a lot so a Sunday decided to pay a visit with family and friends. As not familiar with the road the place was a difficult to locate so used google map to help me out. Good place with a outsider sitting also available with grass and a see saw where kids can enjoy while you relish your meal. Had crab peppery fry , karimeen, chicken and beef Varathu and all were excellent. Would recommend everyone who likes Kerala food. The only minus is u don't get liquor which is the actual highlight of a shaap. But I. Kerala I guess u have to live with it :-)
The quantity of the food is low here..But nice ambience and the service quality is not bad...the people like me prefer good tasty food in cheaper rate..
Located very near to vytilla mobility hub. enough space for parking. The ambiance and the seating are good. The local( nadan) foods are fantastic there like Pathiri, porotta etc and too in a reasonable price. The chilly beef is a must try item here if you love spicy food.
They don't serve tea or coffee is a major drawback as the foods are better with it.
Quality of the Food items especially Sea food items are top notch. This hotel is a culinary delight.Dont Miss this spot.
Parking space is good.Easily accessible from the main road and is very near to Vytilla Mobility Hub.The staffs are pretty attentive and very helpful.
The seats are available outside also.
The best thing about "Shaapp" is the staffs working there; very attentive and welcoming. They give personalized experience in the service for sure. But regarding food, there is definitely room for improvement. Quantity is sufficient for the price but one would expect first rate taste also. Ambience is awesome and have good parking space.
Located a stone's throw away from the Vytilla Mobility Hub is the "Shaap Food" restaurant which aims to serve its patrons the exact type of food that is served in Toddy Shops, fondly called "Shaap". The unique decor aspect would be the extensive use of thatched leaves and bamboo blinds, possibly to mimic the thatched interiors of the typical toddy shop. There is also outdoor seating with three eight-seater tables, each with an umbrella-shaped roof housing LED strips at the edges. These look appealing after dark. The outdoor area also has two swings for children and adventurous adults. The main seating area has space for about 20 and is furnished with tables and long benches for seating, another hat-tip to the shaaps of yore. At the end of the hall is the temperature-controlled family dining area that has space for another 20 diners. The menu leans heavily towards sea-food and offers a mixed spread of dishes. The vegetarian meals are a good starting point and one can add on any of the special dishes on offer. The beef fry was the best that we had in a long time and is definitely a must-try item. The special meals with a selection of seafood dishes is also strongly recommended. The waiter was attentive and she made sure that we were well-looked after. The lack of a ramp at the entrance will limit access for some. The parking lot can hold 8 cars and is manned by a parking lot attendant. There's is a clearly marked area to park two wheelers. They also serve breakfast, till 11 AM.
Seems to be a reasonable lunch spot the locality. Seems a valuable spot for a lunch break price might seem a little high but is manageable. The fish curry meals was good but the meals only had some curry and single fish piece, rest if you need extra u have to pay additional for that.
They have very ambience and quality food. Crab roast is a must try. I hear shaap foods are spicy and i didn't feel much spiciness.
Good food and great ambiance. The staff were warm and welcoming. Food was served hot and served well.
The Chapathi found it was too hard and the washing area leak was observed while going for washing.
Other than these two the restaurant is a great suggestion for all the food lover.
I will be visiting soon for more dishes and since it is located in a prime location access is great.
Forgot to order the lunch meals… i have been away from Kerala too long… such a wonderful egg biryani! And the ginger tea was wonderful too! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere… happy to find this place… i will be back for the meals❤️
Lot of varieties and tasty sea food. And fish biryani is a must try here. Big parking area also there. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The food experience was good as well as the service. Though I must add that each seafood dish comes with a lot of quantity as is the price per dish. We ordered crab and fish thalacurry. Each dish cost us around 700 rupees. But it comes with a lot more quantity so if you are going in larger groups its worth it. Not ideally priced for couples or singles:).
But I did like the service and the food.
Like a good homestyle country savory breakfast. I was so impressed with my breakfast this morning! I tried vellappam and choora fish curry. We both finished our whole plates and were so impressed with the quality of the food and the short amount of time it took to receive it. Our waitress was sweet and helpful. I will definitely be back.
Enjoyed the whole experience and definitely recommend this place for a place to eat.
fare price? Yes considering the location. Awesome food food and fresh 👍🏻
It's very nice experience with shaapp food. It situated beside vytla signal junction. Food has no compromise its very tasty and hygiene. Service is also good. I tried normal meals and karimeen pollichth everything is fine. And affordable. Nice atmosphere most specially out door
Just went to have a try with my friend. We ordered Seafood Plater. You can taste almost all variety of seafood in the platter. It was good and my personal favourite is the shrimp. It has more than enough quantity for 3-4 normal persons. We parcelled and took home the remaining food which we couldn't finish.
You get authentic Kerala Veg and Non veg meals and Fish Fry Items. Really good food service is also quick. AC sitting, Outside Sitting area available. Tasty food.
