It was our first visit to Oh Calcutta. Mistake we made - we did not booked table in advance. It was a Sunday lunch time and we need to wait for almost one hour. We go with a-la-carte and ordered dub chingri, ghee polao, railway mutton and nolen gurer ice cream. It is the best prawn dish, I ever had in my life.. simple awsome. Rest was all good in taste. They served complementary Paan .. Over all good experience. If this dub chingri can be included in buffet menu, that will be great.

The food at Elgin Forum Mall outlet was much much much better than the food at the Silver Spring Outlet. We thoroughly enjoyed every single bite of our food. The staff hospitality was overwhelming. 100points to the Forum Mall outlet. Our overall experience was excellent.

I was there with my husband at Hilsa Festival. We had smoked Hilsa as starter and then Aamtel Ilish, which took me to paradise. But, I have one thing to add. It would be better if there was a preparation with Hilsa roe.

I love the food as well as the ambience. Good service and very good quality of food. Specially NOLEN GURER ice-cream. However, the dishes are exorbitantly highly priced. Costed 2,000 for 3.

Excellent environment, friendly service, great menu choices and really decent food and at affordable prices. Being a food counsultant i must say #Baked mushroom , #Salt&pepper prawn was perfect and certitude. Shezeb Arman an assistant manager was always there to make us feel comfortable and his hospitality was up to the mark.Even though owner of the restaurant hailed us with respect. What a lovely restaurant, good food and service and atmosphere, definitely hope to go back.

This fine-dining Bengali restaurant is all glam and proper, with it's semi-corporate yet deeply warm and lustrous corners. A sense of old-school royalty is sure to take you over as you visit this place for a hearty meal.

Talking about meals, Oh Calcutta has the perfect combination of lipsmacking Bengali dishes, wrapped in a single buffet menu for one person that costs you 695 bucks. This combo buffet is surely for a limited time but if you want to get a taste of perfection, this is what you're looking for.

The dishes on this thrilling menu is as follows:

Non-veg Starters
🔹Chanar Koraishuti Chop - Definitely a wonder of an experimental dish, is sure to click with Bengali folks.
🔹Fish Fry- Crispy and Warm, with just the right tenderness.
🔹Murshidabadi Chicken - If kebabs had a Bengali version, this would be it!!

A plate full of these delectable starters is sure to get you excited for the meal ahead.

Mains:

🔹Chingri Malaikari
🔹Kacha Lonka Murgi
🔹Alu Phulkopi Motorshuti Dalna
🔹Moong Daal
🔹Alu Bhaja
🔹Luchi and Steamed Rice

Without a doubt, the Chingri Malaikari took my heart away. The comfort of this dish is beyond comparison. I strongly suggest having the Chicken with Luchi, and save the rice to go with your Prawn Malaikari.

Relishes:
🔹Tomato Chutney & Papad

Desserts:
🔹Payesh and Malpua

Add ons:
🔹Mangsher Jhol (125 Rs 2 pcs)
🔹Bhetki Paturi (125 Rs 2 pcs)

With all that said, I wish you a great meal at Oh Calcutta! All sanitisation standards are being followed and health hazards are not a worry here. Take your loved ones over for a hearty meal. 😊

Well, this is my second time in Oh! Calcutta. Last time i went to the spring club outlet. And this is the second time i am here at forum Mall outlet. I went there for a lunch with my Friends.

The ambiance at Oh!Calcutta represents bengali culture in it's true form. The muted lights along with the soft music and wooden interiors finished with a touch of off white colour in the walls, gives the perfect vibe for a fine dine experience.

You have to try this lavish and lovely spread from Oh Calcutta that comes at just INR 695, for one person. Lets come to the food, Few of the dish from the menu are...

Non-veg Starters :

1.Chanar Koraishuti Chop

2.Fish Fry

3.Murshidabadi Chicken

Main Course:-

4.Chingri Malaikari

5.Kacha Lonka Murgi

6.Alu Phulkopi Motorshuti Dalna

7.Moong Daal

8.Alu Bhaja

9.Luchi and Steamed Rice

Relishes:

10.Tomato Chutney & Papad

Desserts:

11.Payesh and Malpua

Add ons:
Mangsher Jhol (125 Rs 2 pcs)
Bhetki Paturi (125 Rs 2 pcs)

There are veg options too.

The strong flavours nicely marinated inside out of the fish did magic to my taste buds.

Talking about my experience here i must admit it was actually very good. Starting from the service to the food indulgence and overall hospitality, was simply classic.Everything was balanced and mouth watering. All the end thank you so much for a lovely hospitality.

Oh! Calcutta has been my favourite place when it comes to Bengali food. They serve authentic Bengali delicacies, sometimes with a twist and I love having them. Recently they have come up with a 4-course meal at INR 695+ taxes which includes a lavish meal for a person.
For starters one gets 3 different types of appetizers namely Fish Fry, Murshidabai Murgh & Chana Koraishutir Chop.

For mains they have Steamed rice with Prawn Malai Curry, Moong Dal, Aloo Bhaja, Luchi, Kachalonka Murgi and Aloo Phulkopi Dalna.

Next comes in the compulsory Papa and Chutney followed by Malpua and Kheer.

One can also include an add-on of Mangsher Jhol or Fish Paturi by paying an extra amount of INR 125/-

Each and every dish was fantastic and a treat for a Bengali food lover like me.

• Posto narkol Ilish - very different. Boneless preparation. Tasted great with rice. Had good balance of mustard and coconut.

Fish Fry - All time favourite.

We washed all with Aam Porar sorbet.

I visit this place almost one in two months when i literally crave for some good quality time & bengali food of course. I need not say that this place tops the list when it comes to food quality, menu design and all. Each and everything n their menu has got a brief and to the point description of what they're serving and they serve exactly the plate you've created on your mind. An amazing place, great well mannered staffs, pricing is fine. Ive tried many things here, some of them are-

1. Gondhoraj Lemon Bekti- As the name suggests, it a fish preparation which they do with whole baby bekti and marinated with gondhoraj or kaffir lime and green chillies.

2. Fish patisapta - This was a limited time item. It is basically a savoury crepe with a filling of mashed spiced fish inside. It was interesting. Served with kachumber salad with kasundi or mango mustard.

3. Dhakai morog bhaja- This is preparation of Bangladesh. Made with very succulent cubes of chicken bound together with starch, and some chopped onion tomato green chillies. A perfect chicken appetizer to a BONG.

4. Aam ada bekti- The day they remove this from the menu, i am surely gonna regret. No matter how many times i visit, i have to have this. The boneless fillet of the bekti fish is marinated with raw mango and ginger, then it is pan seared. Lastly, it is gratinated with some more mixture of raw mango and ginger. Literally melts in mouth. Not to forget, they serve it with buttered carrot and broccolis, which is similarly mouth-melting.

5. Chingri malai kari- A typical bengali dish with jumbo prawns in a coconut based creamy gravy. An absolute delight!

6. Kaju kishmish pulao - Long grained rice with clarified butter and dry fruits like cashews and raisins are added. Cooked perfectly.

In total, every time when i go there and finish my meal and come back, i think of the day I'm next gonna visit the same.

|| OH! Calcutta 🤤 ||

OH! Calcutta is the hub for quintessential Bengali cuisine in Kolkata. It has been old and eminent place among Bengalis in Kolkata since a long time. This iconic eatery has taken a permanent place in our hearts. Whenever we think of authentic Bengali cuisine, we think of this Restaurant. It is one of the best restaurants in the City of Joy which serves extremely delicious Bengali Cuisine. Being a Bengali myself, my love for Bengali food is eternal. Bengali cuisines are pride of Kolkata as it shows we Bengalis love have authentic Bengali food.
OH! Calcutta had been the favourite spot for all Bengalis, from being the perfect hiding spot to adda sessions with family and friends during lunch and dinner A proper bangaliana feel what you will get at this place. OH! Calcutta serves one of the best authentic Bengali cuisines and delicacies in the City of Joy since many years now 😍 Recently we visited here for Bengali lunch with my family to get a premium bong feel and to try out their Bengali authentic, home-style flavours items.

📍 Location: This outlet of OH! Calcutta is at the 4th Floor of Forum Mall, Elgin Road, Kolkata. It is 15-20 minutes walking distance from the Rabindra Sadan Metro Station.

▶ Ambience/Décor/Service: Speaking of Ambience, the ambience of the place is too classy and elite. Additionally, to impart a soothing and calm mood, there’s Rabindra Sangeet being played as a soft music. Perfect place for a perfect Bengali family dinner and lunch. They have both buffet and Ala carte menu for its customers. The decor is so ethnic, reminds one of the British eras. If its Bengali, its Oh! Calcutta❤ Accommodation of this outlet is huge with comfy seats both available for big & small groups. We settled ourselves with Rabindra Sangeet music gave a real feel like we were having authentic Bengali lunch. The hospitality of the place is top notch! The waiters are well trained. Service has been prompt and perfect.

▶ Now coming to real deal which is food and drinks of course. Who does not love Authentic Bengali Cuisine, right? They have variety of options in the Authentic Bengali cuisine. All the items were just lip-smacking. So, we opted for the following items from the menu during the recent visit 👉

📌We opted for 👉

🥂 Mocktails 🍹

⚜️ Gondhoraj Shikanji- A refreshing freagant beverage with “King of lime” delectable house flavours.
⚜️ Fruit Punch- A nice refreshing mocktail to begin with.
❤ Main Course 😋
🔸 Moving on to the Main Course.

⚜️ Steamed Rice (Basamati)- Normal rice that we generally have at home.
⚜️ Ghee Pulao- I just love to have Bengali pulao during the lunch time. The rice was cooked with clarified ghee.
⚜️ Bhetki Maacher Paturi- It is one of the must-try items from the menu. The bhetki fillet in pungent mustard paste is steamed in banana leaves. It just melted in our mouth as soon we had it. Goes best with steamed rice (Recommended).
⚜️ Daab Chingri- This is was one of the perfect dishes of the day. The Chingri was perfectly cooked and baked. Prawns was cooked in rich cream of tender coconut with a hint of green chilies. It was served in a authentic green coconut. (Highly Recommended).
⚜️ Baked Crab- This is one of the newest dishes in the menu. Baked crabmeat flavoured with cheese, celery, and black pepper. It is must try for crab lovers.
⚜️ Bhekti Gondhoraj- This is one of the specaility item from the place. The steamed bhekti fillet delicately flavoured with Bengal’s aromatic Gondhoraj lime. I just loved it. (Recommended).
⚜️ Naan-Oblong white flour clay oven cooked soft bread with butter and garlic. It is tastes amazing when it is combined with chicken or mutton gravy item.
⚜️ Classic Railway Mutton Curry- This is another must try out item from their menu! When it was combined with Steamed Rice or naan then it was just too Good in taste! The mutton was really cooked well and served in a classic way in a small pressure cooker as it was done in the railway canteen of British Raj. Recommended dish for the Mutton lovers.

To bring back all those childhood memories from the past one has come with this beautiful place with your cousins and friends to relish some of the delicious home-style Bengali food items with modern touch 😋

💰Pocket pinch: - Pinch for two is ₹ 1600- ₹ 1800 for a great and delightful experience.

▶ Overall: - Overall, it was lovely experience for me like always when it comes to Oh! Calcutta. Those who intend to have a taste and feel for authentic Bengali cuisine, Oh! Calcutta is a perfect place for you. Will surely visit once again to try some of their other delicacies from the place ❤

A great place to experience authentic Bengali cuisine Very extensive menu . Service is immaculate and waiting staff very helpful at explaining dishes.
We ordered numerous dishes to share and were not disappointed with any of them - all were served piping hot - very savoury but not overly "chilli hot".

We ordered
1. Paratha and quail Champ
2. GobindoBhoger Fish Fry
3. Narkel chingri Bhapa , Fish fry and steamed rice combo
4. Mirpurer bhapa murgi paturi.

Fish fry was my favourite one. It was actually a vetki fillet. Somehow murgi paturi tastes like the stuffing of chicken momo. Quality of quail is really good. And the narkel chingri bhapa is awesome.

Will try other items upon next visit

Visited the Forum Mall outlet today after having tried at the Spring Club outlet earlier. They have made slight change in their menu, though I feel the earlier one was better.
Coming to the food, we had Bhetki maacher patishapta, matal chingri, railway mutton curry, chingri morich pulao and bhapa sondesh in dessert. Bhapa sondesh was delicious but way too overpriced for just two pieces. I personally felt the earlier "Borishaler chingrir pulao" was way better than the present one and they should definitely include that again in their menu. Overall the items were quite delicious, and the service was also top notch. Looking forward to try the other delicacies in future for sure.
Drinks are priced bit high, this should also be looked into. Overall we had a good dining experience. 5 stars for the prompt service!

We went for my birthday celebration on 2nd Oct. My dad opted for buffet. Each plate costed around 1100rs. The place was definitely neat and clean. But the buffet was not upto mark as per the price. I had been to couple of Oh calcutta's buffet in delhi, they were pretty satisfying than this.

The chingri malaikari was not at all good. The malaikari lacked essence and chingris were not all tasty. The murshidabadi mutton was Ok Ok. We all loved the Fish fry. Thats the only thing I could remember having in the buffet. My dad enjoyed the padma tomato curry. Rest were just to satisfy the tummy. Nothing great.!! 🙁🙁🙁

The price was not justified with the menu. The deserts should have atleast included ice cream, which is always there in oh calcutta's (delhi) buffet. Not happy on my birthday.

Undoubtedly the best 'Durga Puja Buffet' in Kolkata! If one imagines to experience the most authentic and tastiest bengali buffet spread in kolkata, then this is the place to be!
When these days restaurants are trying to cut down their buffet expenditure by reducing the quality of food, 'Oh Calcutta!' continues to serve the best amongst them all. They served us with 'Kolkata Fish Fry' which was definitely made out of 'pure Bhetki', I believe and was equally delicious. The desserts were outstandingly well prepared and tasted the best. The main course consisted of 'Pabda jhal', 'chingri malai curry' which one cannot even imagine to be present in such a reasonably priced buffet spread. Last but not the least, one cannot just neglect their staff's extraordinary courtesy and helpful attitude!

So..this was my first time in Kolkata.. I am an active good tasty food researcher. On a City foodie forum, I asked about where to eat in Kolkata before leaving. I got some many suggestions such as peter cat, mocambo, Arsalan.

But... I was made to eat here due to an official meeting. Well I am no big fan of sophisticated dine inns as the taste generally is at that small little place on street surrounded by a lots of crowd...

So coming to the taste.. The food was definitely something more than ordinary. The mutton Biriyani was so so... The veg dishes were alright.. Best was Kosha Mangsho, which I did not leave a trace for taking back :).. My colleagues ordered a full Basa fish and they were happy with mustard infused flavour.. Luchhi was okay, as in common, you cant get that wrong! The Nolen Gur Kiwi ice cream was prettty good

couple of things . try and be more local.. like the kasundi you offer as a condiments, try to make in house.. Jhaash ke bina mustard paste / sause ka kya karna ..

Similarly, mutton Biryani was just too off... thora desi please.

Overall okay place.. Agar Mocambo aur Peter cat aur arsalan nahi gaye agli baar, toh will come back again :)

Oh! Calcutta is a very well-known and well-established restaurant chain of Bengali food.So yeah, being a "Mach-e bhat-e bangali" , I have always avoided going to such restaurants because of my philosophy which says" Why pay such extravagant amount for the same food that my mom cooks at home???". But now that my office is at the building almost next to the Forum Mall, I have been to this place like a ton of times, for both buffet and a-la-carte. And the visits have surely changed my mind a bit.
So folks, give your mother, father or whoever cooks at your home a break, and head to this restaurant for some mouth watering Bengali delicacies. Even people who are not much into Bengali food will like this place. After all it is difficult to cook all the intricate Bengali dishes at home and that's what this place is for!!!
Do try their Dab Chingri, Fish Paturi and Fish Fry. They use very good quality Bhetki. Their fish fry is really tender juicy and flavourful. Their buffet menu will always have one fish, one chicken and one prawn dish. Sometimes they serve churmur/alukabli and pantabhat with aloo chokha and daaler bora in their buffet menu. Bengali people are kind of famous(or should I say infamous!??) for their lavish and spicy eating habits. But it is really interesting and thoughtful to promote the simpler and homely food of our community too. Oh and their nolen gurer ice cream is heavenly!!
So,a good place to satisfy your Bengali food craving.

Finally, had the privilege to visit Oh! Calcutta and that too during Hilsa Festival. As expected the hospitality was of top notch and the ambience reminded of sophisticated Bengalis. Its easy to get a table during weekdays. I am more of a chingri fan than elish so I ordered :

Kaju Kismish Polao - couldn't get better, it had exact proportions of all the ingredients and gave the bangali ghee bhat feeling to its full extreme (Splendid 5/5)

Mutton Kosha - soft juicy 'rewaji' mutton with an excellent preparation of Kosha without excess oil (Excellent 4.5/5; Regular platter has 5pieces )

Chingri Malai Curry - Fresh prawns and the rich quantity of coconut milk can be felt (Excellent 4.5/5 ; Large platter has 6 pieces of medium size prawns )

Nolen Gurer Ice Cream - Much to the delight the raw flavour of nolen gur can be felt while the quality of "ice cream" could have been improved (Good : 4/5)

They gave Pan as complimentary.
The quantity is on the lesser side though the quality is excellent.
Overall its a really 'Fine Dinning' experience.

I visited this restuarant today. Located inside forum mall this place is well decorated with live music and is a bengali cuisine based restaurant. Staff here is very very couteous and explains every dish properly. Perfect place for bangalis.

1. Chingri cutlet - Prawn cutlet is well cooked and tastes different. Should be tried atleast once.

2. Ilish fish fingers - Ilish festival is going on now so we ordered this. Crispy ilish mach fish fingers was finger licking good.

3. Murshidabadi murgi - Looks like lollipop this chicken starter is one of its kind.

4. Ilish paturi - bangali and ilish is a havoc combination. Hence this common dish of bongs was very very delicious. Must try.

5. Meghna majhider ilish - This preparation of hilsa was my favourite. Boneless hilsa was so unique spicy and mouth watering. Highly recommended.

6. Lal lonkar ilish - Me being a ilish lover ordered too much ilish. This was also good.

7. Kancha lonka murgi - Boneless chicken prepared in green chilli gravy is a spicy dish and goes best with luchi.

8. Chanar malpoa- This dessert is a cherry on top. Soft malpua with rabri on top was yum.

9. Gondhoraj shikanji - Made with gondhoraj lebu this had its taste because of the gondhoraj flsvour. A big thumbs up!!!

What's monsoon in Kolkata without good Ilish? Well, this year, while the rains seem to have betrayed Kolkata, Ilish surely hasn't. And I have my monsoon successfully hilsa-fied, thanks to Oh! Calcutta and their month-long Hilsa Festival.
There's nothing new to say about Oh Calcutta - it's one of the best in the city when it comes to Bangali food. And, this month, they have the Hilsa Festival with incredible dishes that capture traditional Bangali flavours.
Of course there are the popular dishes, like Sorshe Ilish and Begun Kaalo Jeere Ilish. And then there are some exciting and innovative dishes, which you haven't tasted at home, but will still taste like a burst of Bangaliyana your mouth. There's Mochar Ilish, Smoked Hilsa, Bhapa Ilish, and others.
It's unfair to just pick any one or two of these amazing dishes. I loved all the dishes I tried. But the one that stood out for me in particular was the Laal Lonkar Ilish, with Hilsa in a moderately spicy, tangy gravy, cooked with their in-house pickled chilli.
So, if you don't know how to pick the best Ilish from the market, or have the time to whip up something that tastes like Borshakal, then head to Oh Calcutta. And for those who don't like picking the bones off of the Ilish pieces, there's boneless Hilsa, too!
Don't miss it.

It's time to rejoice, Oh Calcutta has come up with Ilish Festival so on my visit I tried a few of their dishes. To start with this outlet this place is always buzzing with people and the people are really courteous.
Few of the dishes that I tasted are:

Mocha Ilish : Here the fish is deboned and cooked in banana flower which gives an amazing sweetness from the banana flowers.

Lal lonka ilish : here the ilish is cooked with red chillis which makes the dish pretty hot and spicy

Ilish paturi: Here they didn't use fillet but the normal kind of cut that we see and cooked in wrapped banana leaf.

Ilish fingers : Fingers made of Ilish fillets, you could feel the sweetness of the fish over the Crunchy outer.

And the most important thing was chochori with Ilish er matha which was served at the first.

Being a Bengali, rainy season always brings in the season of Ilish. Along with the downfall of rainy season in Kolkata, Oh! Calcutta brings the Ilish Festival which protrays an array of dishes from in and around Kolkata which are made up using Ilish. This festival will be live till the end of this month.

The ambiance at Oh!Calcutta represents bengali culture in it's true form. The muted lights along with the soft music and wooden interiors finished with a touch of off white colour in the walls, gives the perfect vibe for a fine dine experience.

We were served an arrary of dishes cooked with Ilish. Few of the dish from the menu are :-

• Mochar Ilish :- It was a unique combination of mocha along with boneless ilish which was made into a shape of chop. Before tasting this dish I never knew Ilish and mocha could pair up to be such a great combination.

• Ilish fish fingers :- This is just like your regular fish fingers which is made with the help of Ilish fish instead of bhetki or any other fish. The Ilish inside the fish finger was boneless too. Making an Ilish boneless is really a tough job and kudos for the chef of Oh!Calcutta for doing so.

• Shorshe Ilish :- Cooked with grounded sorshe along with a fine mix of spices, this dish had a slightly bitter and spicy taste. The hotness of the dish is medium and the fish was of premium quality. It had the perfect taste and essence of full grown Ilish.

Other dishes from the menu which caught my attention includes Lal Lonkar Ilish, Aam tel Ilish, Smoked Hilsa and Posto Narkol Ilish. If you want to have the most of this season of Ilish then do visit Oh!Calcutta.

When it comes to Bengali Food, I would say I'm quite picky. Fortunately, some places like this are exceptions I am most willing to visit regularly.

Speaking of Ambience, the place is quite spacious, w/ a lovely decor that compliment the cuisine the place is serving. Accommodation is plenty too w/ seats both available for big & small groups.
Service too is prompt & consistent, the staff being well informed & quite friendly.

Coming to Food, I have usually liked what I had. I have been several times through the years & there's only few dishes that failed to impress me. Most preparations are usually well executed & worthwhile.
Recently, I was here to try their Hilsa Festival & it too was quite intriguing. I loved the Posto Narkel Ilish, Sorshe Ilish, Mocha Ilish, Ilish Fish Fingers & Smoked Hilsa.

What I've had, including Hilsa Festival :

STARTERS :
1. Murshidabaadi Murgi - must try
2. Ilish Fish Fingers - must try
3. Mochar Ilish - must try

MAINS :
1. Steamed Basmati Rice
2. Grand Trunk Chicken - must try
3. Murgir Jhor

4. Ilish Paturi - must try
5. Smoked Hilsa - must try
6. Posto Narkel Ilish - must try
7. Ilish Bhaja
8. Aam Tel Ilish
9. Aamra Diye Ilish
10. Sorshe Ilish - must try

DESSERTS :
1. Malpua - loved it

Overall, my experiences have been good here so far. The Food is good & the service is excellent, recommended from my end.

ILISH or HILSA what ever you call her is the Queen of Fishes as we all know and she is also called the River Water Fish. And not only the Queen of Fishes but its the Ruler of the chart when it comes to Making a tasty Fish Item. ILISH is not only a fish its an emotion to the people of Bengal and To the Bengali Culture. Following the tradition Hilsha is used in the Bengali Marriages and also in the parties, get together or anything if its her season.

Apparently we all know that how tasty ILISH is and we all love to eat it but someone is called a really skilled person while eating this if he or she has the ability to pick through the bones which dot the Hilsa flesh. One Fish, amazing taste and it has the power to provide the same in so many different variants.

ILISH is already here and its time to celebrate so following the tradition Oh! Calcutta have come up with the Queen of fishes presenting you their Hilsa Festival. The Chef have come up with its Simplistic yet quintessential dishes with Bengal's famous Hilsa broth or the Ilisher Jhol with Mustard or Black Cummin seeds.

Its time to celebrate the grandeur of spices and the ambrosial goodness of flavors. So fix a Date with the Queen and drop down to Oh Calcutta, Elgin Road For lunch and dinner with your family and friends.

Festival started from 20th of July and last till 21st August 2019.

Bengalis and Hilsa are inseparable. I being a fish lover, the queen of fish Hilsa, has a special place in my favorite list. And Oh! Calcutta being the best place to try them out, I tasted some of the items from their ongoing Hilsa Festival and will take you through my experience.

The festival offers traditional recipes as well as the creative & innovative ones. I started off with some rice and Lal lonkar Ilish, the gravy was spice and was made out of pickled chilies, it also had a tangy taste, delicious. Followed with Mochar Ilish, this is a boneless dish, and has coating of spiced banana flower, never had this before, and was completely blown away by the taste (must have). Other items included Ilisher Fish Finger (another innovative offering), Aamra (Hoogplums) Diye Ilish and Ilish Bhaja. The Sorshe diye Ilisher jhol was fabulous teamed with white rice (must have). What more does a Bengali fish lover want! “Lip-smacking” and “finger-licking good” are the perfect words to describe the experience.

Service was great, with attention to details and requirements. Keep up the great work and hats-off to your innovations, loved them!

Oh! Calcutta restaurant has launched the Hilsa Festival in the city of joy. The very famous restaurant that is under the operations of Speciality group ltd has always been so dear to the people here. The excitement level goes up every time when there is something new happening with their label. Now with the River Water Hilsa Festival going live one can expect delectable dishes that have the touch of old treasured recipes executed specially by the Chefs.
Ilish or Hilsa is a very popular fish that is prepared with pride and it is loved by all for it's unparalleled taste. This is the right time when everyone wants to get to feast this fish as the weather is perfect to enjoy.
I am also quite a big fan of this fish for the kind of recipes one can come out with. This is exactly what Oh ! Calcutta have done by putting out the best of the best for all it's patrons during this time as a result the preparation will leave you asking for more and more. Currently Lunch and Dinner both will be available from 12:30pm to 3:30pm and 7pm to 11:30pm , so that way you can plan your dine in. For reservations call at 9330627510 and reach the restaurant located at Forum Mall, Kolkata on the 4th floor.

Talking about my experience here i must admit it was actually very good. Starting from the service to the food indulgence and overall hospitality, was simply classic.
I had some of the finest dishes like Lal Lonka Ilish, Mochar Ilish and Ilish Jhol with Mustard. They went very well with steam rice. The strong flavours nicely marinated inside out of the fish did magic to my taste buds.
The other dishes which you may try from the entire menu such as Bhapa Ilish, Ilish Paturi, Posto Narkol Ilish , Amra Diye Ilish and Aam Tel Ilish are wonderful as well.

For most of us, Sunday lunch is all about a meal with family, at home, with gorom bhat and the season’s fish - Ilish aka Hilsa!
And, given how amazing Hilsa tastes in season, it is not surprising when every household has that one fish on their Sunday menu!
Oh! Calcutta is hosting a month long “Hilsa festival” across their outlets!
On one hand, the festival comprises age old recipes from our houses - shorshe ilish, ilish bhaja etc.

On the other hand, we see innovations from the Chef in the form of Mocha Ilish, Ilish fingers, Ilish using red pickled chillies!

The use of mocha with boneless ilish is something we haven’t seen! Or, the use of pickled red chillies in ilish preparation is a revelation! The good old bhapa or shorshe ilish was class apart paired with their ever famous fish fry, and gorom bhaat!

Now that the monsoons have finally hit the city, can ilish be far behind? No way! The shorshe ilish was a delight for sure. But it was the Lal lonka ilish which stole the show, for me, at the ilish festival here.
Their usual, remarkable hospitality was an added bonus.

Absolutely loved the whole experience here. The service was impeccable. The food was fresh and tasted amazing. We had a 20-25 minute wait-time due to the Sunday night rush, but it was worth the wait. Also, one of the servers overhead that it was my father's birthday, so they arranged for a cake and celebrated along with us, which was lovely. Thank you, Oh Calcutta! team for making our evening super special. ❤️

What a day it was! Being Bengali Jamai Babu, I knew that people in Bengal go crazy on Dashmi day but this crazy? I tried for a reservation here, but this service was revoked and so was their ala carte system ..lol We reached here at 2 PM and it was 40 min waiting time which turned into 1 hr. finally got the table at 3 PM. They have a set menu (buffet) for the day and it consists of almost every item that a normal Bengali can desire (except biryani, wonder why they did not include biryani on the menu) Starters- -------------------- Chingri cutlet: I liked it most, crunchy, and filled with “fillers” :P Tandoori Ghee roast chicken: it was cold, not sure why they did not keep a small burner underneath the containers.. – 2.5/5 ( had it been served hot, the taste would have been different) Dimer Devil: good, nothing to mention… 3/5 Main course- ----------------------------- Cholar daal Kosha Alu Dum Narkol Phoolkopi Jhalfrezi Kacha lonka Murgi Mangsher Jhol Fish Fry Pabda Shorshay bata Chingri Mala curry I did not go for veg items, but all the nonveg items were good. Preparation, taste, service – all good. Dessert items also have Kheer, Payesh, Kalakand, Misti Doi, etc… Ambiance: it’s really good. Outsiders like me can feel the Bengali vibe here. On a normal day, one can enjoy the ambiance while having a meal. Today, everyone was in a rush to get mutton pieces as soon it was filled out..hahaha Service: though it was crowded, they maintained their service level Price 1399/PP Overall: Definitely recommended.. 4/5

It was great. We tried my first time bengali buffet 😋 here. I love the fish fry and the dessert 🍨 🥧. The main course is little bit more ghee. I don't recommend the buffet prawn. The ice-cream was awesome 👍 👌. If you want to try the bengali food 😋 this place is perfect for you. You must try the salmon fish fry, this is the best way to start you buffet.

A great place to enjoy Bengali cuisines for non Bengalis (and even Bengalis). Food was great. We went for a buffet and had a good time. The taste of certain items on the menu were great and some had a standard taste, but none had a non-commendable taste. Polao was good and went really well mutton. Biryani was standard. But the kebabs for the appetizers were really juicy. No wonder they were emptying out fast. You can also order something off the menu as well at an additional charge, like we ordered kochuri specifically for the mutton. The place was not very crowded so a bit of laughter and chit chat made the ambience very social and inclusive.
