Good but not fully worthy with price
During the last week of September 2020,before the pujas, I went to The Famous Mocambo with my dear friends. We just enjoyed and dived in to some mouthwatering continental dishes like Chicken Ala Kiev, Chichen Corten Bleu, baked Alaska and many more !! I would surely recommend Mocambo to anyone who is a big foodie and really wanna dive into some exquisite continental dishes in Kolkata.
Well my family has been dining here since generations. The food is delicious and would recommend it to family and friends
Irish Chaueterband Beef Steak is extraordinary.
Their fried fish with tartare sauce is too die for.
Beckty Bell Muniere and Chilli chicken are delicious 😍
I tried there deviled crab and Risotto. Price are so reasonable.I just loved the food and ambience of this place.

Mocambo was on our bucket list since 2016, I believe, (some of you might remember the now famous controversy this place ran into, that was what led us to wanting to try this place out). I was finally able to visit the restaurant post lockdown. Now, first things first, I loved their sanitizer dispenser stand which was wooden and looked very classy indeed. We were warmly welcomed in and found a table in the interior room beside the glass wall and we thoroughly enjoyed the decor and the seating. The ambience, however, was not up to mark. When I visit a fine dine like Mocambo (specially after all the controversy), i expect a posh and classy dining experience instead of babies at adjoining tables causing a rukkus or people conversing loudly and not even asked by the management (not even politely, let alone in a rude fashion as it had been reported a few years back) to keep the noise down. I understand that the management might be receiving mixed suggestions, and they have to choose between maintaining a humanitarian outlook while maintaining the standards of a fine dine at the same time. However, I think a middle ground is also possible where they can put out polite suggestions which can still preserve the charm and standards of the restaurant. Moving on to the food, we ordered chicken golden fry drums and devilled crab for appetizers; lobster thermidor, chicken milanaise and chicken chipolata sizzler for main course; and cream caramel and baked alaska for dessert. The service was okay. The people were polite and helpful. However they served the succeeding course before the one aprior was fully finished. That causes unnecessary rush to finish the dishes which is not really appreciated. It also cramps up the table. The golden fried drums were good, they were well cooked and juicy. The dips accompanying the drums had good flavour but could have done with a thicker consistency to have supplemented the chicken better. The devilled crab lacked salt and thus all the attempts to bring out the flavour from the crab fell short. There were a few small fragments of the crab shell mixed within the meat which is not expected. The lobster thermidor also lacked proper seasoning, it was only slightly better than the crab and that was only owing to the natural flavour of the lobster meat. The sauce was a bit on the thinner side and had not meshed that well with the meat. The vegetable sides that came with the lobster were not up to the mark either. The roasted potatoes lacked seasoning and were cold. The carrots tasted plain and bland as well, perhaps a bit of sauteing them in butter would have worked wonders. The peas were ok but they were just there, slightly non cohesive with the rest of the dish. The chicken milanaise also lacked salt but its saving grace was the ham in the dish. The ham was excellent and well seasoned and its presence made the dish much better. The chipolata sizzler was pretty good, except for the veggies part which was the same as the thermidor dish. The sausages in the chipolata were one of the best I have ever had and the chicken was pretty delicious itself. The bacon was good but slightly soggy due to being drenched in the sauce, maybe they could have been lightly laid over the rest of the dish at the very last so that they would have retained their texture and been truly brilliant. The cream caramel was the highlight of the entire meal. It was one of the best cream caramels I have had all over India and reminded me of how my grandmother used to make it. It had the perfect caramelization and the most delectable flavour. They nailed the consistency as well. It truly warmed up my soul. The baked alaska has room for improvement. Firstly, they should light it at the table itself, after dimming the lights as by the time it reached our table, the flames had almost died and were barely visible. I would have personally preferred a bit less of the cream and a bit more of ice-cream and cake layers, the latter two i felt were very less. Overall, I feel the dishes we tried, except the cream caramel, have room for improvement. I would love to go back to the restaurant again to try out other dishes, specially from the Indian section of the menu.
Oh just love the food and ambience of this place. Truly one of my favourites. The food is exquisite at reasonable price. Their signature dish, the "devil crab" is a must to try out. Other dishes are equally good. I recommend this to all the continental food lovers out there.
Whenever there is craving for continental food, there is Mocambo. There is none like Mocambo anywhere is India. When it comes to the old world charm, both the interiors and the unique menu takes the cake. Not that we were away from Mocambo's delicacies for a very long time, however in these times, there was a serious wanting of Mocambo food. While out regular favourite crab devil was not available, fish a diana, beckty wellington, meat lasagna and liver risotto more than made up for it. Lucky to stay in a neighborhood where Mocambo.delivers.
The Mocambo signature dish was really amazing, worth having it. The ambience is also soothing. Highly recommended 👌

There are very #few restaurants left on #ParkStreet which I really love visiting (I staunchly believe the remaining ones survive solely on the legacy of thier names) & one amongst those select few is certainly Mocambo - went back after a long hiatus with dad for lunch a couple of days ago & came out impressed & gastronomically elated as always..
Enjoyed my regular favourites - #PrawnCocktail, #ColdChickenSalad & #ChickenAlaKiev - couldn't manage the legendary #BeefSizzler since I was with dad 😀

Lovely ambience. Food was awesome . The steaks were finely cut and made to perfection. Service is great. The waiters and servers are very polite and welcoming. Dining at a heritage restaurant of Kolkata was the best experience ever. Would revisit again.
Very nice ambience. Food is very nice. Potion is good. quite cheap compared to other places. We went in the independence day. We ordered chicken corden bleu, chicken tetrazzini, chicken sicilian, chicken garlic sizzler, chicken ala kiev. Fish was not available. We wanted fish florentine but it was not available. Nice place to visit with family and friends

Mocambo has it's own benchmark in the minds of Kolkattans. This place has never ever disappointed me. Visited here several times and the best part is they have preserved the taste of their delicacies in the same way in years. To the one's who are new to Kolkata or are on a trip to Kolkata and want to have amazing continental do drop in here without even a second thought.
You can absolutely judge me for starting this review by mentioning about the butter chicken from a place like mocambo which is known for its continental servings, but to my surprise the butter chicken and butter naan here is absolutely heavenly. The atmosphere is always the best , this place is never empty there is always a huge number of crowd waiting for their turn to come . This place is worth the hype, price and wait.

Whenever I think of having continental the first name that always reflects in my mind is MOCAMBO. None the less the name itself gives an impression of something enigmatic.
So during this lockdown, since in house dining is not possible I have been ordering from this fine dining situated in the center of the Kolkata and must say that they have never failed to satisfy my tastebud and have always been cordial to attend my calls and note down my preferences.
Their packings are always good and they made it a point to deliver you with a feeling of having your food as if you are having the same right in their restaurant.
Few are the dishes tagged along and I must say they deserve to be called as The Best Restaurant in Town😊

Mocambo restaurant of Kolkata is probably an enigma... a nostalgia for people who are truly Kolkatans in their hearts. Nestled on Free School St, a narrow street originated from the famous Park St, Mocambo still holds the charm of the Colonial Calcutta. Those red domed hanging lights and the sofas are witness to many a unions and break ups. But the foodie in me kep going back for their kievs for they can fix any mood.
A leisurely cocktail in hand and a superb heritage dish can make an afternoon or a evening memorable forever. Beside their original continental heritage dishes there are inclusions of some new must eats. But we, the veterans will always go for our steak or the kievs. Though the prices are on a little higher side but it’s worth paying a visit to taste the bygone era flavour and charm of Calcutta.

I was served the best Rissoto ever, even simple butter and garlic rissoto was so rich in flavour. The herbs and spices whatever they use is awesome. The ambience and staff everything is very friendly and classy. Loved the place.
Its been a long time I wanted to go there. We ordered few dishes as it was our anniversary.
The restaurant staffs behavior were very professional and the ambiance are very classy and dim light.
And the food is obviously delicious and mouthwatering.

We as family preferred and frequented Mocambo for quality and portions were always adequate to GOOD.... with lockdown prevailing I have preferred Zomato delivery service with cash tip provided to the courier... Last evening 08 Jun, we received our order on time from Zomato courteous courier. However, upon opening the packing I did not find the BILL. Plus the sauce cum gravy from Mixed Grill plate leaked making a mess... the packing was below par. In addition the Tandoor segment and other favourites of ours were all shown "out of stock"... I request Mocambo pulls up its socks on issues narrated... Regards... Neogi.... Southcity

I loved the Chicken Steak of this restaurant, I ordered many times before through delivery apps, but missing this restaurant during lockdown period but when they became serviceable I am sad to see that Chicken Steak was not serving by the restaurant.. Looking forward to serve Chicken Steak by the restaurant soon.. Simply I love it...
Fish Florentine and Chicken al a Kiev is one of the best dishes and signature dishes here !!
So I visited this place before the lockdown and desperately wanted to try out these two and I did .
And it was all worth it .

A Kolkata classic fine dine. This is the kind of place one can opt for a nice dinner date or a fancy family lunch. On my visit I had ordered for a Bloody Mary accompanied with a fish platter for starters. The platter consisted of an assortment of fish kebabs and fries. Among them the Ajwain fish needs a special mention. For main course I opted for Grilled Meat Sizzler. The meat was cooked to perfection with the right amount of char on top. The pocket pinch here is relatively on the higher side.

Steaks are perfectly cooked.. And pork cutlet was the show stopper.. it was filled with pork, ham and cheese..

This outlet has been our regular visit place since very long. Their sizzlers, chicken do pyaza, and Chinese cuisines are the best orders. The staff is courteous and the crowd is always classy even on packed days. We ordered chicken sizzler this time and as usual we weren't disappointed at all. They have the one of the yummiest cuisines in that area.

I absolutely love mocambo for the vibe, the park Street crowd and the continental food here. I had the following:

7. Tandoori chicken
8. Chicken paprika
This is one of the Best place in Kolkata for classic continental Dishes. This is in Park Street Area. We had Devil's Crab,Fish Ala Diana, Sizzler with mixed meat. One must have the Devil's crab(recommended) and Baked Alaska their classical Dessert.
The food tasted great and the staffs were very courteous. The ambience was also wonderful.
Best steak in Kolkata. We have visited most of the famous restaurants in park street area in search of good continental food or steak. Mocambo was suggested by a friend and I have to admit this has been the best decision so far. We ordered the Chateubriand beef steak and a Fish A la Moutard. The beef was cooked to perfection and served with mushroom sauce (there’s a choice of pepper or mushroom), roast potatoes and boiled veggies. Fish a la moutarde is grilled bhetki fillets in mustard sauce also served with veggies and roast potatoes. They serve drinks and the place is nice for having a conversation. I would definitely visit the next time I’m in Kolkata. The staff was courteous and efficient.
A traditional place for Continental Food. We ordered Fish Florentine, Chicken Steak Grill, Chicken Ala Kiv and Fish Steak Sizzler. Chicken Ala Kiv was too yumm, filled with butter. One can't have it full, must be shared. Fish Steak Sizzler was also very good in taste. Great ambiance. It was in my wishlist since long. Now fulfilled.

Ambience: Crowded as usual.We had to wait for 15 minutes . Inside I felt a bit congested
Service: plenty of Waiters were ready to serve without any delay. But they took time to prepare the dishes.

Prawn cocktail: Cold creamy like sweet paste filled with shrimp. Pardon me but I think it could be a good desert.
Devilled Crab: Awesome continental seafood dish, must try!
Fish Florentine: I didn’t understand this dish much but didn’t like that smell.
Baked Alaska: Basically mixture of pastry,icecream and sparkling candle.

Offering the ambience of a vintage European restaurant, Mocambo is one of the best in the continental department. A good place to hang out with friends and family, the place offers good food at slightly high prices. The bar menu offered is a sure hit for any lovers of booze!
It was on my list for long. So i went here for lunch on 01/03/2020 .

We have tasted sizzler amd for a starter we have taken a ice cream cola usually its price is not that high as everybody discussed but the food quantity is ok and the ambiemce is quiet good food quality is too good just the problem is with the stuffs who think they are smart but they greet us served the food well you can go their with your family the sizzler charged 350 and ice cream cola 120
Mocambo is the best dine restaurants we had, is located at Park Street. We ordered over there 4 dishes (chicken tetrazinni, Macaroni cheese casserole, Mutton mocambo and nuns). and believe me there's food taste is just an appetizing!. There's services are two good. Attendants are always polite and friendly. Restaurants is elegant. Must visit!
Well, the sole reason for having food at Mocambo was for it's ambience. I really loved the Mix Grill a la Mocambo. The sausages were tender and had a comforting texture. The liver was perfectly cooked. The sunny side up made the sizzler much more interesting. But somehow, I found the chicken steak to be a bit hard, rather uncooked. Then, coming to Caramel custard, I just devoured each and every spoon of it! Trust me, it's a must try if you come to Mocambo.

Chicken A la kiev is no doubt one of the best sellers in Mocambo. And Chicken tetrazini was so cheesy it melted in the mouth. Absoultely loved both the dishes. Mutton peshawari kebab was a bit disappointing from the portions perspective. Otherwise, everything else was top-notch.
The place was beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. The service was prompt and courteous, and the menu had a good variety of dishes.
The food was overall good, but I wasn't a fan of the soup and dessert.
The only downside was the price, which was quite high .While the food was good, I felt that it didn't justify the cost.
Overall, I had a decent experience at this restaurant. The ambiance was lovely, and the food was good, albeit with a few exceptions.
Chicken a la kiev is a must try. Rest all foods taste good but quantity is very less. Compared to the price we paid, both food quality and quantity could had been better.

An all time favourite heritage restaurant in Kolkata. Forever in love with their Chicken a la Kiev, love the ambience and the service is great. Not a huge fan of the Devil Crab though but the continentals are worth trying !!
Continental at its best. The quality of the food is too good. If you are visiting on weekends make sure you keep some buffer time with you. It's generally crowded. They do not pre-book. It's first come first serve. The famous chicken Ala kiev is good in taste but I would people who love it more spicy may not like it. We went with 4 year old children, he also enjoyed a lot as none of the dishes were spicy. One of the old and best restaurants in park Street. Also a prawn cocktail is a must try.
Best and one of the oldest restaurants at Park Street,Kolkata. Tried mocambo for the first time on New year's eve and the food here was flavoursome and delicious. Loved the Ala mocambo and Ala Kiev which are two of the most famous dishes here. Highly recommended for dinner/lunch with family/friends/collegaues...Sizzlers are also a must try here..
I am going for my birthday dinner today. I love their decoration in the restaurant. Service is also very good. We ordered some fish items in white sauce and chicken steak with garlic sauce. I love the food very much. They served the food very well. Their continental menu is very good.
Sharing about my experience there's nothing I can say I didn't like about the place, I just love everything starting from the ambience the food, the service, everything touched my heart. This is my third or fourth visit to mocambo and every time I go here it pleases my heart. We were a group of 5 to 6 people so we ordered two chicken steaks, one ham steak, one grilled bhekti and another Chicken Ala Kiev, all of the foods were so tasty with mushroom toppings and steamed vegetables and the the steak was absolutely beautifully cooked each and every time I go here I have to take the steak and this is like so so delicious. We had a bill of approximately 3,000 but the paying through swiggy, We got a discount of almost like 30% so it was also a good deal for us as well. We had good food. A good time and definitely a very good environment to have a blast with friends or family or whomever you want to go. Just go and enjoy this place.
This is an iconic joint on Park Street Kolkata. Waiting time can be very long though we were lucky to find a place immediately. We ordered Chicken Cocktail Sausage, Chicken Meuniere and Fish Florentine. Chicken sausage was very good. As far as the two other items were considered, the white sauce which was quite cheesey got a little overwhelming and heavy. The fish in particular had significant quantity of the sauce compared to the actual fish fillet. Taste was fine. Chicken Meuniere was good. While many visit this place given the repertoire and fame, the taste may not be to everybody's liking...It could be an acquired taste for some. From a pricing perspective, based on my experience in other Indian big cities I thought it was quite reasonable.
The ambiemce is lovey and warm.. usually full on weekends.. pork cutlet is a must.. chicken a la kiev is loaded with butter with a unique taste.. all in all must visit to this place with great food and hospitality
Brilliant food and warm ambiance. Definitely worth a visit every now and then. More so, if you don't live in Kolkata. One of the more famous restaurants in the city.
I visit this place for a meet up with my sister.. there was waiting line when we went & we got the seat after 10-15 mints ..

Tried chicken drumsticks, chicken and mushroom sizzler, lobster thermoid. In dessert baked Alaska. Everything is perfect mouthwatering dish. Luxurious and cozy ambience good for couple and small family n groups. Spent a great evening. The amount you pay is worthy. Overall amazing experience for a refreshment. Staffs are nice.
So much has been said about this place that anything I write would be redundant, but I would still write though. So we went on a Dashami afternoon, and as expected we had to wait on a queue for more than an hour to get in.
The ambience is really good although it was a bit too crowded owing to the Durga puja. The service was prompt and the staffs were courteous and attentive. We ordered Chicken Golden Fry Drum, Chicken A La Kiev, Chicken Oriental A la Mocambo, Plain Pulao, Kadhai Murg, Chicken steak Sizzler,
Risotto Alla Sbiraglia Red sauce and Baked Alaska. I would suggest not to try Indian foods here because its mainly famous for its continental dishes and The Pulao and Kadhai Murg really did not taste great. I am not much into continental but I really liked the dishes. Overall it was a really great experience, I would definitely visit again.
The condiment that was served with Chicken Golden Fry Drum deserves a special mention. It tasted great!
Place needs no introduction. Went in for dinner after a long time. It’s the same view and the ambiance and atmosphere that attracts people. Loved the whole decor of the place which they have sustained for so many years. Tried the Special Bhetki Fish Tikka excellent 👌, a must try. Also their grilled Hilsa with rice and sautee vegetables was delicious. 😋 excellent well mannered staff and service all across. A must visit place if you are in kolkata.
