Visited golden for the first time after lock down yesterday, really happy to see how they are maintaining proper precautions and hygiene, temperatures are checked sanitizers are kept at the entrance and you can now scan the menu on your mobile and order from their!
Now coming to the food!
We ordered for our starters,
1. One full plate of drums of heaven (deeply fried) it consisted of 14 pieces of good sized drumsticks that tasted excellent! (Highly Recommended)
Price- 350 for a full plate.
2. Then we ordered a full bowl of Mixed Thai soup, that was perfectly shared by 5 of us!
The soup was thick and was filled with chicken, egg, prawns, mushrooms and tasted heavenly!

Price was 300/-
3. We also ordered our all time favourite prawn chips, that costed 140/- and had a perfect of prawn in it.
(Surely a must try)
Now for the main course we ordered!
4. 2 plates of mixed fried rice.
Price was 170 per plate.
Quantity is sufficient! Tasted excellent!

5. One plate of Mixed Hakka Noodles, the noodles were filled with chickens, prawns and eggs.
Loved it absolutely (Highly recommended)
Price was 170/-
6. Then for our sides we ordered Chicken Manchurian full, costed around 350/-
And had 16 pieces of chicken pieces in it or more!

7. And ordered a half plate of Dry chilli chicken, tasted so so so good!

So all the dishes I tasted was excellent in taste and surely a must try for all the Chinese lovers!
Our total bill was 2000/-
With the gst and everything!
And also,
The staffs are maintaining social distance and all of them wore a mask.
And also the salt pepper, sauce and everything is given separately in small portions in your table only if you ask for it.
The service was a bit slow though, but staffs were very much courteous!
Overall had a great experience and surely dropping a visit super soon.

After order food from this place twice, I found that, mein foo is good. Chow mein and rice are not as good as mei foo. The rice had grains on the larger side and grains are little chewy. The noodle appears to be hand made so thumbs up for originality but that doesn't taste good when eating take away.
Coming to main course chicken dishes. The disheshave a very volatile flavour compounds which go away in few time , so after reheating good there is not much taste lest. Kung pao chicken had little taste when it was hot but when it became cold during having meal it was little tasteless. Gravy of chilli chicken was a nice emulsion of garlic flavoured oil, Chinese wine and soy sauce. It was Smokey and has a little punch.

Quite an amazing experience , I haven't heard about this restaurant much but still I had an urge to feel it's food and turns out it to be pretty dope.
Hygiene and sanitation maintenance was done with top notch priority both inside and outside .

I was already a fan of their dining but during lockdown, I have ordered for home delivery multiple times from this place. Every time,they have provided amazing chinese food with every item being magical. My favourites are the thai soup, red pepper fish and the absolutely stunning prawns. I always make it a point to have food from Golden Joy once a fortnight as their food quality, quantity & taste have remained the same even during these covid times. One of the best chinese you can have in Kolkata!
Our fixed date that is asthami during puja..We have to go there..Infact this is a place where we visit in puja in regular basis.. Lovely place.. Crowdy..But very decent.food 😘

Visited the place several times. My favorite cuisine is Chinese, so of course I have tried noodles at first with garlic chicken. In starter , we had prawn wanton which was totally different from any other resuturants.
Must taste food will be prawn wanton and golden Joy special nonveg soup.
Rest noodles and rice are good in quality nd quantity both.

Tangra is well known for Chinese foods restaurants. And golden joy is a famous one among them. Well.. we visited there with my friend. It was good experience. Food quality is good. This restaurant is one of the old restaurant in town, so ambience is not so special. But I want to say one thing that according to quantity of food and ambience, the price is slightly overpriced. Otherwise it is very good. Recommendable.🙂
Golden joy needs introduction its a hotspot since many years, my one of the favourite spot at China Town whenever we visit the first thing I order is the prawn chips ❤️

How to reach:
We need to get on to the topsia bus stop i guess.
Its walk able distance though. Very inside. Challenging to find as its behind residence.
Starting:
We have ordered veg manchow soup.
It served very nicely and taste was too owesome. You can definitely go with it if you are vegetarian.
Main course:
We have already decided to go with plan so we have ordered their famous and suggestion went with hakka noodles and veg dry Manchurian.
Tasty and very well cooked. I had a very good Chinese first time in kolkata.
Overall its simple and good place to hanout as they serve drinks as well.
For family they have dedicated zone on 1st floor.

Best place to chill with friends or family. One of my favourite restaurants in China Town, Golden Joy has a very decent ambience. Their staff members are ver courteous. Service is a bit late but except that everything is perfectly done.

For starters, we wanted a fish item and the waiter recommended Golden Fried Fish. He told us it would resemble a cutlet, deep fried with panko. I was worried but upon his insistence, we ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised. The panko coating is quite thin, the Basa fish was well cooked, and was not oily. A half plate had 7 almost equal sized pieces.
For the main course, we ordered a Hunan chicken, a chicken egg fried rice, and a chicken hakka chow. The rice and the chow were both great. 3 of us split the two dishes and we were full. The Hunan chicken was recommended by the waiter but the preparation we got didn't taste like Hunan. It was effectively Chilli chicken, more spicy than sweet. The Hunan chicken (also half plate) had very uneven sized pieces.
While service here is not too prompt, it is not very slow either. The staff is polite but a bit aloof at times.
What I really disliked about this place is that the tables are too close to each other (they are simply maximising their capacity). When all the tables are occupied, it is near impossible to have a conversation with the person sitting opposite to you because of the din. This does not make a pleasant dining atmosphere or experience.
The ambience is good. You can go with your familly. Staffs are polite. They take little bit time.. except that ambience , tastes , quantity of food, staffs all good
Good food, friendly staff.
Food and service is very nice. The place also has a full bar with a very good Ambiance. Especially if you're with your family they will provide you a nice and separate place. The restaurant also contains a separate smoking zone. The best feature of this place is the quantity of the food.
A very popular restaurant in China Town.This place is good for casual dining with family and friends...i have been to the place more than 20 times and the quantity of the food is humongous with respect to the price...they offer quite a large variety of chinese dishes....the quality and taste is however just okay...they also offer a valet parking...however it is a spacious and clean restaurant and staff is quite courteous....weekends are extremely packed and food ordered can take a little bit of time to be served
Went for a casual dinner with friends. Our reservation was not made prior, thanks the lady manager Suchismita who took special care and arranged a table quickly. Loved the Della casa pizza and nice recommendation of Riesling by manager. Entire dinner experience was amazing. Will love to come back again.

It is definitely the go to place if you’re looking for real Indian chinese food. It is popular not only with the locals but also the Chinese community in Tangra and one will find almost two to three tables occupied with large Chinese groups. The restaurant is located in of the by lanes of Tangra but is well known so it’s easy access. The menu is elaborate and the usual suspects. We were a large group and ordered a whole bunch of dishes from the menu. What we had: Golden Fried Prawns - the highlight of the entire meal. Perfectly done with fresh prawns enclosed in a crispy fried batter. The chicken wings I suspected would be glazed with a sauce but it was just fried wings- average! The fish fingers were nice. The butter garlic squid was on point and might well be their classic signature dish. The mains were a let down though - fish in black bean and ginger chicken were indistinguishable. The stir fried pakchoy was not what I suppose it was as what we got was stir fried spinach in garlic. Their special soup was too bland and no prominent flavours to uplift it. The Mei Hoon was a sad mess being overtly oily. The fried rice was an average fare. In short : the taste and food quality has taken a beating since the first time I had it a year back, but will I try again? YES!!

My all time favourite restaurant for trying some awesome Chinese cuisine at a reasonable price. This outlet is located in Matheswartala Road, Tangra. They never disappoint me with their service.

Super food! I had the usual mixed fried rice, chicken hakka chow and chilli chicken - like most other good Indo-Chinese restaurants, these staples that I ordered have obviously been perfected by them - flavoursome, perfectly seasoned food with generous portions of chicken and prawns in the chowmein and rice. The dish that totally stood out for me though was the Fried Prawn (in picture). It was light and crispy with mammoth sized juicy prawns on the inside - they made my day!!

Wanted to try some authentic Chinese cuisine, so we went to Golden Joy. This is the only place that comes to mind whenever I want good chinese. Iv been here a lot of time from childhood, this place never loses its charm it's the same as it was years before. This place makes me nostalgic as it was my father's favorite restaurant and whenever I come here it reminds me of him. Now let's come to the food:

2) Mojito, beer
3) Dragon Chicken
4) Chilli Pork (one of the best, highly recommended)
5) Mixed Fried Rice
6) Kung Pao Chicken (didn't like it
7) Cantonese Mixed Noodles
Every item was delicious and sufficient for two people except for Kung Pao Chicken. But overall I love this place and I'll be back again.

This place was full of crown and we were about 8 people and got seated within 15 minutes of our arrival.

Soft Drinks 250ml [50 INR]
Mix Canton Chow [290 INR]: It was gravy chow with chicken, prawn and veggies tossed in it and tastes good.
Mixed Fried Rice [220 INR]: The rice quantity and quality was good and enough for two.
Golden Fried Fish [600 INR]: The fish was well marinated and fried and tastes amazing. Would definitely recommend it.
Red Pepper Fried Chicken [390 INR]: Small pieces of ball sized chicken was perfectly cooked and tastes good.
Hot Garlic Chicken [390 INR]: Boneless pieces of chicken in hot garlic curry was good too.
Schezwan Chicken [390 INR]: It was perfect schezwan I wish for and totally recommendable.
Overall I enjoyed this place and would definitely recommend it to all.

I went with my family here. It is one of my favorite restaurants. I love the drums of heaven here. The other food items are amazing. Very good courteous staff. A very homely atmosphere and a pleasant ambience. Highly recommend place from me.
I really like the food here, this is my go to place when my friends from abroad come to visit me in Kolkata.
Visited this restaurant for dinner and really enjoyed the food there , every item was worth every penny. All the usual Chinese spread fried wonton dumplings fried prawns chicken dishes rice n noodles only the drums of heaven was disappointing. And I must say very reasonably priced. One drawback though staffs need to be a bit more attentive. Looking forward to visit again for the delicious Chinese meal.

Golden joy is undoubtedly one of the most popular place in chinatown. We ordered golden fried prawn, tangy crispy chicken, chicken sui mai and chicken wanton soup. For mains we had mixed noodles and thai fried rice with garlic chicken. Apart from the tangy crispy chicken all the items are highly recommended.

The food was amazing, the taste, quantity everything was absolutely perfect, was pocket friendly too, loved the decor. We ordered 2 chicken starters, one prawn chips, special noodles, special chicken, 2 beers and one smirnoff large, and all of this cost us just 2500. Thread Chicken is spicy boneless chicken covered with a crunchy coating of noodles deeply fried. The coating gave a sweet sense of taste which made the dish different. Mixed rice and Garlic chicken were the best combination.

Visited Golden Joy on 08/10/2019. We ordered Thai Soup, Chilli Garlic Red Pepper Fish, Mixed Cantonese Noodles, Mixed Fried Rice and Hot Garlic Chicken. The soup was good but the fish could have been better. The noodles, rice and chicken were delicious. Golden Joy is usually the best option when you consider eating Chinese in Tangra. Affordable and quality Chinese food.
Overall a good place with great food options. You'll find the place chill.
Everything is good apart from the service. Before paying the bill, just check the bill properly. It's India not America and they're asking for tips.

The food was very good. We ordered a small manchow soup which was enough for the two of us, the soup tastes good and it contains lots of chicken and prawn,then we took half chilli Garlic Paper chicken, which was also more than enough for two, and the best half plate golden fried prawn,in half plate you will get 7 pieces. The size of the prawn was good the coating was very crispy and thin. For the main course we took mixed Rice noodles/maifun,it was also tasty.....

Quality and quantity both are quite good. Even the ambience is very cosy and cool. They also serve alcohol. A nice restaurant to visit with Friends and family.

The food of Golden joy is always our favourite. Whenever we go, we always take a few set of constant dishes. We still love them. The quality is still maintained. Thai soup, golden fried prawn and garlic pepper fried chicken are always the starters. Main dishes are good as well. You need to finish with a chilled lemon soda.
A legendary restaurant which all the foodies are familiar with. It's spacious, service is quick and had very old school classic amlbience, nothing to complain about.
We gravely underestimated ths portion sizes, they are huge. One dish can be easily shared between three individuals with good appetite. Do keep this in consideration while ordering.
Our order consisted of mainly their classics:
1. Golden Friend Prawns- fresh large prawns in a thin crispy batter fried to perfection. It was a perfect with the breezer we ordered.
2. Chicken and Prawn Suimai- there was around 20 pieces of the sui mai. It was so tasty and filling, a must try.
3. Pork in Chilli Garlic sauce(most probably)- Again, the portion size was huge. Taste was good.
4. Mixed Hakka Noodles- Quantity is huge, taste was good too
5. Dry chilli Chicken- It tasted really good, not sweet at all like many restaurants make. Paired well with the noodles.
Overall a good place to dine especially with family and large group of friends.

Visited here after 4 years. They have still maintained quality and quantity of food. The prices have gone up but that’s acceptable. They have wide range of delectable Chinese dishes to choose from. Chicken, fish, prawn and pork items are available as starters as well as main course..You can try there soups too as they are all freshly made and tastes amazing..
Do make prior reservations when you visit as it can get very crowded on the weekend and evenings. The ambience has an old world charm to it but not suitable for a romantic date.

The ONLY Authentic Chinese Restaurant in entire Kolkata. The place is little inside of China Town, and the vibe of the area is dull, but trust me, just because of food people love to come to this place. Even we saw Raima sen and Munmun Sen here...
