If you are looking for Tibetan cuisine , Blue poppy is one of the best place in Kolkata. The ambiance is very cosy and peaceful. The interior is beautifully decorated with Buddhist statues, small fountains , bamboo crafts etc . They have two kind of seating arrangements; one the table-chair arrangement and another the table-mat arrangement , in which you can traditionally sit on the floor and enjoy your meal . The Price of food is quite high but it's worth to pay for it as the food is very tasty .I love the momos, phalay , noddle etc which they serve . Best place for spending a good time around Camac st.
Going for a date with a northeastern, this place is the one. I love the place , specially the inner sitting area, the lights and the paintings will make your partner mesmerized.
This is 'the' place for those who loves chinese cuisine at a very affordable price
Their momos dipped in the spicy red sauce are a match made in heaven. We tried the chicken kothey.
Roasted chilli pork was another fulfilling item, along with the mixed fried rice.
The staff was courteous, but the ambiance was a bit dull.
Discovered this place back in college, was literally in our backyard and have been frequenting it ever since. Possibly the best place in town to grab kothay and momo. They are truly a delight. While the skin of the momo is supple, the filling consists of generous amounts of lean pork with moderate fat to make it scrumptious.
Kothays are momos that been pan fried only on the flat side, and they are the best Tibetan starters according to me.
Blue poppy also does a mean phalay which is basically a Tibetan deep fried meat pie.
The very first time we went there, we were recommended by some friends to have their shapta. And boy was that some recommendation. I too would definitely recommend this dish.
Their chili pork similarly ranks very high on this list as well as on the list of best chili porks in kolkata.
The one thing that I am a bit skeptical about is their consistency with rice and noodles. Have been a couple of times when I couldn't enjoy those.
The ambience isn't too much, but for a pocket frinedly place it's quite okay. And coming to that pocket friendliness, Blue poppy is a college goer's paradise.
recently blue poppy has started selling Tibetan pickles of beef, pork, radish and chili oil. Do chekc them out. They are a treat!
The dim light, the cozy atmosphere, the sitting arrangements, the service, the taste of northeast India just makes a perfect blend for ur food experience here. Affordable prices and taste to starve for this place is a must visit
This restaurant serves authentic Nepalese and Chinese cuisine at a reasonable price.
Situated in camac street. Very easy to locate with the help of Google map.
Coming to food we ordered-
~ Chicken wanton soup
~ Chicken pan fried momo
Quality and quantity both are excellent. Awesome taste. Staffs are polite and well-behaved. Will visit again soon.
Blue Poppy will always be the first place to come to my mind every time I have a Pork craving. The chili pork with shreds of bacon in it is best enjoyed with the pan fried momos. They also serve decent amount of fried rice without comprising with the taste.
Chinese Lovers' Paradise....Mouth watering delicious items at really cheap prices...Starting from Momos to Soups to Noodles to other dishes every single food item is perfectly able to satisfy the lust of foodie taste buds!! They have really good chicken and pork preparations but my favorite pick being a Vegetarian will be Veg Kothay, Veg Clear Soup, Mushroom items....!! I had many Veg momos at many places but nothing beats this one!! Really love it... Must Try It out folks!!
This restaurant serves awesome nepalese and chinese cuisines at a cheap price. It is situated in the camac street area. I tried there chicken steamed momos, chicken fried momos, chicken pan fried momos, mixed gravy noodles, schezwan hakka noodles, chilli chicken and garlic pepper chicken. All the items are extremely delicious and at a cheap price. Its a great budget friendly restaurant and the staff's behaviour are also good.
One of the most pocket friendly Chinese places in town. I really like their authentic taste. The best part about them is the momos. Recently I visited there and had Chicken Fried Momos, Chicken noodles and Manchurian Chicken
If you want to have authentic Tibetan and Nepalese food, this is one place that you must go! Absolutely pocket friendly with an amazing taste!!😊😊
Had lunch at this amazing place today. The food is absolutely spectacular and not to forget the very affordable prices. This place has authentic Nepalese, Tibetan, Asian and Chinese food. We ordered Pork kothay momo, Chicken men tse-tse, Q. Datsi, Chicken phalay, Pork shapta. All of the dishes tasted extremely good. There is quick service by the friendly staff.
The one disadvantage is that this place and the adjacent, Blue poppy-thakali is buzzing with people at all times. It is very difficult to get a table, and they don't allow booking tables online, so go with time in hand.
💢 Its 31st December and queuing has already start....
.
🍣Name: Chicken Steamed Momo🍣

⛰Reviews: It was a nice cafe with good food. Owner herself welcoming guests and looking after their needs... suggesting diahes. Momos were juicy from inside nd definitely enjoyed the bites. The ambience is very good with authentic sitting arrangements. It is reasonable and decent when it comes to pockst pinch. Would definitely advice to visit this place for good meals or snacks with family, friends and kids
We heard about this place recently and went here today evening to have pork!
It is located in 4/1 Middleton street, Sikkim house first floor, authentic tibetian and Nepalese restaurant.
It has a very basic ambience with air conditioned seating arrangement.
We ordered Pork Steam Momo and Dry Chilli Pork. The Momo was excellent to say the least, juicy and succulent, filled with minced pork. It tasted amazing with red spicy sauce. The outstanding item was the next one - chilli pork was the best dish in the menu, perfect mixture of Pork meat and fat along with onions, capsicums etc. It was extremely spicy which was a treat in this cold weather. Next we ordered Pork Hakka Chow and Singapore Chicken. The chowmein was good in taste filled with loads of sliced pork, onions, capsicum veggies. The chicken item was extremely average and was completely tasteless. It had less salt and other spices!!
Service was good prompt and satisfactory.
Overall good experience and would surely like to visit again to try their wantons and Phaleys and other Nepali dishes.
This place is becoming my favourite gradually! I have been a lover of Tibetan and Nepalese food and I swear I regret not finding out this one earlier! The quality and quantity of food at such reasonable price is just a big WOW and blessing ❤
Lots of Love to the Blue Poppy
Really the taste of Sikkim. After Sikkim I have eat this kind of Momo & the wangtom soup is also too good.
N.B-if you are not spicy lover please ignore the red sause.
I was never heard of this place but I was a student of Gokhale Memorial College. But life is not too short. Today evening, we visited this place. Trust me, you will forget Chinese food of Tangra, Kolkata. This restaurant serves you Momo's like you never had, Wanton that you will remember forever and Noodles which are straight from heaven. And the food is less spicy, a toddler can enjoy their food. Server's are very prompt and polite. Abhisek Gayen
best place to enjoy authentic Tibetan food with Tibetan vibes all around, also their nepali foods are great. my preference will be open momos specially their pork open momos and chilly pork.
Awesomeness to an extent of greeting the customers.. that too the owner herself Ms. Domawang... That was amazing
I am really glad that I opted this place to celebrate my wedding anniversary lunch
Coming to the food... Started with mandatory mutton and chicken steam Momo's along with Thai soup and hot&sour soup... Then few students sitting in my adjacent table ordered pan fried saucy Momo.. which allured me n I ended up getting that plate but this time vegetarian.. finished with a Phatku.. handmade macaroni with asian greens...
Satisfied...to the core
Thanks for the little gesture of the day...team Blue Poppy

Must try the chicken Phalay 😍
This is my go-to place to eat out. The momos and noodles are absolutely delicious. The chilli pork is to die for. But the highlight of this place for me is the sweet and sour pork, it is absolutely delicious and never fails to amaze me.
The momos are amazing and
soo delicious and
yummy and
mouthwatering and
tasty
In reasonable price
Must visit this place with your friends and family
Nepali thali was average,lacked salt.
Momos and wanton soup was great!!!!
Courteous staff and cosy ambience
Clean and very very pocket friendly.
N.B.- much much better than the pricey blue poppy thakali,..this is the oldest blue poppy and real gem.
Ordered for vegetarian momos and Mushroom Shapta. Momos were the best I have ever had. The accompanying red chilli sauce was amazing and thankfully was not sweet like in other places. The Mushroom Sapta was spicy and delicious. It was a bit too greasy. Will definitely try out other items from the menu.
Fantastic ambience and aesthetic decor of a true sikim resturant serving hot and fresh delicacies at modestly affordable prices which is surely not going to burn a hole in your pocket. The momos serverd were fresh and tasty along with the flat noodles with chicken/porn keema which was quite mouth watering as well. Overall it was a fantastic meal and healthy as well.

This restaurant is situated near maidan metro station. it's a small restaurant serving authentic Chinese food at reasonable prices. We tried mixed fried rice, chicken momo ,chilli pork and chilli chicken. Both the quality and the quantity of the food was equally good. The staffs were also very polite and well behaved.
The ambience is simple and soothing. The food is very tasty. There are variety of items. The service is also good. The price is also cheap and affordable.
This Nepalese / Tibetean joint is located near maidan metro and to be precise exactly on the adjacent lane of Sikkim house.. I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant today and after getting a seat...ordered Egg chicken Hakka noodles and one plate of dry chilly pork.. The staffs were very cooperative and generous.. Took one blue lagoon drink too.. The service was fast and the food was good.. The amount they serve in one plate was adequate enough for two people . The ambience was cool and soothing.
If you are a momo person please go to this place. it had the bestttt momos in town. Do not miss the steamed momos as well as the pam friend momos. stir fried veggies in hot garlic sauce is also amazing. i can go to this place a 100 times and not get bored of it
Location- This resturant is located in camac street area its in sikkim house.
Ambience- the ambience is so so not so decorated or well maintained. Its an old resturant but always crowed because of its popularity
Food- food quantity and quality was really good...they provide 8pieces if momo for 1 plate the stuffing were good but the momo was bit dry then we have ordered chilli pork and chicken egg hakka noodles..the taste of the chilli pork was really nice but i didnt like the taste of the noodles but it was ok ok...the quality is ok for 2...
Price- now comes the most interesting part...its really cheap..for 3 items our bill was around 530..which is really cheap..ops i forgot to add 530 also include 2 cold drinks..so its too cheap for lunch and dinner and the quantity of food they r providing...
Services- the services were good and quick..inspite of being too crowed they were quick enough to serve the foods quickly..
It is one of the best Tibetan food serving restaurants in Kolkata. They are famous for its momos. Personally, I'm a big fan of their veg steam momos, pan fried momos & veg chilli garlic noodles. The ambience is very simple and basic. Reasonably priced and they have good portion size.
This place is my favourite Tibetan joint since a long time.
In frame-
▪Pork fried momo(4.5/5)
▪Dry chilli pork(5/5)
▪Crispy chilli baby corn(4.5/5)
Dry chilli pork is a must have if you visit here.
The decor is not so pretty but the food oh my God,once you have it,you will crave for it every month.
Located at camac street, this restaurant is the perfect explanation of dont judge a book by it's cover.
This serves the best pork momos and phalay's.
And Chili roasted dry pork should be a must try. RECOMMENED HIGHLY.
Pocket friendly. The pork costs just 170 rs which is enough for two/three (maybe). Has a lot of porl belly. If you are a pork lover don't miss this place.
Every Xavier's and Loreto student knows this establishment pretty well, and it's almost impossible to get a table at times after classes get over during the day.
The ambience could've been better, but the price and quality of the food offsets that.
I Have Visited Here a lot of times. The place might not be spacious or smooth but the food here tastes absolutely awesome. Always love the pan fried momo here and pork momos. Excellent tibetian dishes present here. And every chinese items are heavenly. It's a must visit place.
A place that truly explains that good food and service can beat any kind off ambience. With a very simple seating arrangement this place is always filled with customers.
Ordered
Veg steam momos, pan fried momos in hot garlic sauce and tomyum soup.
I absolutely loved the veg steam momos, it was served hot and the filling was right on point
Pan fried momos were okish after a time inedible
Tomyum soup - this was my first try. It was spicy and tasted good. If you want to have something different try this.
My 2nd time visit to this place and this place never gets old.. Serving tastiest of food with a minimum pocket pinch and maximum quantity food more than good for single person even in today's time is a big deal and blue poppy impresses you with this amazing skill set.
What we had:
Half steam with bottoms fried vegetable momos
Chilly Mushrooms
Pork Shapta
Garlic Pork
Along with a few cold drinks..
This in total costed us 700 bucks for 2.
The only drawback is the limited seating capacity which makes it a mess at times with queues of people waiting for their chance and the limited amount of cutlery and napkin plates which creates a mess out of the whole situation..
the staffs otherwise are very well behaved.
With a cozy look and hearty meals blue poppy wins your heart and leaves you wanting to come back for more.
P.S do try the momos with the hot momo sauce available there for an amazing experience.
My favourite place to have pork pan fried momos. I have also tried their fried rice, meifoon, and chilli chicken. It's a very pocket friendly place to have tibetian dishes.
The pork Shapta and aloo dum Is really tasty , good place overall but a tad bit expensive. Momo was okay and the phalay was good , however the stuffing should be more .

This was exactly the way we thought it would be.. We went there yesterday.. This outlet is just 3-5 mins walking distance from Maidan metro station.. Situated at the first floor of Sikkim House (Guest house)..Very easy to locate.
Ambiance & Decor:
Though it was not extravagantly decorated or something but this place has this aura around it that makes you very comfortable as soon as you enter... Very calm and relaxing.. A homely vibe was always there.. Thanks to the friendly staff, we never felt uneasy.. Not for a second..
Food:
We ordered:
1. Chicken Chili Momos (4.5/5) (INR 150/-) :
The momos were crispy.. I personally never had a momo like that in my life.. It was very spicy and the chilis were llike burning coal.. I will suggest you not to go for it if you don't like momos to be this spicy. But we loved it.. Perfectly coooed and went insanely well with pork fat ( the ones we got in the chili pork).
2. Chicken Chili garlic Rice (4/5)) (INR 150/-) :
We thought we'd go with noodles but changed our mind right there. It was very well cooked and went really well with the pork we ordered.. It had big chunks of chicken and the rice was very well seasoned..
3. Dry Chili Pork (5/5) (INR 170/-) :
An absolute winner.. Heard so much about the chili pork of the Blue Poppy.. Finally had the chance to have that.. And it was definitely one of the finest pork dishes I had in recent times. The fat pieces were succulent and just bursted in my mouth.. The lean pieces were probably double cooked and the crispness was felt in every bite.. The veggies were well tossed too.. I'd recommend you to have a chilled coke when you're having this.. Goes really well with a spoon full of rice and a coke to gulp it down..
4. Chicken Shyapta (1/5) (INR 200/-) :
Aghh.. It was bad.. Like really bad.. I'd rate this experience a full 5 if we didn't order this. The waiter recommended this to be the spiciest chicken dish they have.. But it was not at all spicy.. Totally blunt.. Not even cooked properly.. The chicken pieces were stiff and we couldn't even finish the dish.. It was bad. Painfully bad.. Should have gone with the pepper chicken as we thought we would order.
In conclusion I'd say it's a very good place to have lunch.. Not too much crowded.. Comfortable and the food is quite good. Will go again just for the Chili pork.. ❤
It was my first time at this place. Well this restaurant gave a bit trouble to find it out. This is located inside Sikkim house at Middleton street. And just opposite Middleton Manson.
For foods well the quantity is good.
We ordered-
*Virgin Mojito-70. Mojito was really good.
*Crispy baby corn -130. It was both sweet and spicy (a rare combo). I found it ok. As I love baby corn it was ok for me to eat.
*Garlic Chicken : 150.It was good. But staffs suggested it to be very spicy. But I found it not so. It was ok for me as I don't like much spices.
*Chicken Fried Rice - 150.It had some smoky smell. I don't know it it was smoked rice or not but it tasted good. But I would suggest to look for the smokyness. It it can be adjusted.
Overall it was a good experience. Next I would like to visit this place to taste their momos.
When I first visited the place... I was like why am I even here.. But the food and the service they provide are just too good... Definitely try the dimsum soup and schezwan fried rice and prawn dishes. Too Good and inexpensive... It has become my all time favorite joint after tutions!
Go to place for having momo. Was a regular hangout place during college days. Today for the first time tried pork kothay. They are pot stickers and it's yummy! The filling was tasty. 8 pieces for just rs140, it's tremendously budget friendly. The chilli pork is also amazing. If anyone wants good Chinese food at a cheap budget, should definitely try out this place.
Usually we used to go to different places to have north indian cuisine..but after the visit whole of our viewpoint has changed..we just ordered two main courses as you all can see clearly from the pics given below!! ..
1. Pork fried rice
2. Chilli pork (dry)
These were deliciously good! Well cooked and fresh and juicy! ..and moreover Delightful ambience and polite behaviour from them will make this a must visit place..
Well we visited the place 3 times in total but the review narrates our most recent visit. It was on a Tuesday afternoon that we visited the outlet in a group of FOUR.
The place was filled completely and we got a place at one corner of the restaurant. After waiting for 5 mins we requested to shift and they obliged.
Coming to the ambience, well there is nothing to write about the ambience of the place. Its a normal Chinese and Tibetian joint. The place was completely full and the two ACs were not enough to give us relief from the scorching heat.
The service was prompt and the great thing was the order time. Despite the restaurant being full with people, food was served within minutes.
We ordered
• Pan fried momo- 8 pieces of Succulent momos pan fried in tomato garlic sauce! Tasted good but a bit spicy.
•steamed chicken momo- Again 8 pieces momo which tasted as usual.
• Chicken Garlic fried rice- Tasted awesome. The flavour of garlic perfectly blended with the rice with good quantity of meat and egg. A bit on the oily side but perfectly recommended.
•Chicken Noodles- I didn't like the noodles personally. The noodles seemed undercooked and was a bit on the harder side.
•Singapore chicken and pepper fish- We ordered Singapore chicken at first. Now we were said that it was going to be medium spicy. The gravy was on the salty side and i didn't find it spicy atall. 6 big pieces of chicken was served. So we requested something dpicy for our sides again and was recommended pepper fish. But to our dismal the pepper fish tasted exactly the same as the Singapore chicken. It was a let down on our side
• coke- 300 ml was charged at Rs 30 , ₹15 extra from the MRP.
I wished to give it a 3.5 star rating but the service Time and customer handling prompted me to give it a 4 star rating.
If you are looking to have a good quantity food served in no time without much of an extravaganza ambience, this is the place guys
Located in Sikkim house at a walking distance of 5 minutes from Maidan metro station, this place is indeed an authentic Tibetan joint. It has 2 parts considering the seating arrangement; one part with tables and chairs and the other with cushions and low tables to provide an authentic experience! The prices are slightly higher in the latter.
I had heard previous reviews that the staff are rude, which turned out to be false in my case! They were well behaved and courteous enough, though one should not expect professionalism from them.
The decor inside the one with tables and chairs might not be very catchy and one may feel stuffy if the restaurant is full inspite of ac. Service is extremely fast though!
I had ordered Fried Chicken Momos(4/5), Mixed Fried Rice(5/5), Chilly Pork(5/5) and Mushroom Shyapta(5/5) all of which tasted delicious! The chilly pork and mushroom shyapta are a must try! The quantity of all dishes is huge and priced at highly affordable rates!!
Definitely a place worth visiting for the food!!!
Good restaurant..... vibrant & cozy ambiance with great test of food & oviously budget friendly
So a Good option for Chinese & north east foods
I have ordered their chicken fried momo, probably the best momo in town. Awesome taste with rich fragrance, the chicken was just perfect, juicy and succulent and the momos were fried with pwefection. Lipsmacking treat. Great food.
It's a pocket friendly place with great ambience and great food. The food quality here is good. For started we had chicken momos which was great, then we had crispy pork with chillie sweet sauce this dish was not up to the mark as we expected because their were more pork fat instead of meat, then in main course we had mixed fried rice with a side dish of chicken and both were delicious and sufficient for 2 people.
Really a great place. Just love the ambiance. Food quality is awesome with good taste.
Located near to Frankfin airhostess Institute at park Street.
But one thing the menu card don't matchs with the real menu card of the restaurant. In The real menu card foods prices are lil high.
Best one... Enjoyed a lot... Also loved that ambience.. food quality is too good... Just love that Orange chicken.. it was delicious.. also rate is not on higher side Must one...🖤
A bit difficult to find it as it is located almost inside the sikkim house, however the ambience and stuffs are very homely and friendly, specially the sitting arrangement reminded of sikkim (I was overjoyed and nostalgic).. Definitely try the shapta and dumplings, I will visit again to taste more items
This place is something unique. Here you can seat with your group in an wooden floor area. We never had this experience of seating down on the floor area of any restaurant which was so nice. The staff was friendly and service was quite quick. The food and quantity were also mentionable.
One of the best tibetian cuisine place to visit in Kolkata. This was my the place where I had formed my first band during college days. Pan fried momos are the best to have at this place.
Almost spent my entire childhood in the north - bengal region nd I been accustomed to Nepalese crusine
This place is very close to my heart when it comes to Nepalese crusine.. .In frame :
Mixed fried rice

The best momos in the city is available here.
Very warm and cosy place. Perfect for a date or with friends.
The food is very beautifully served.
The pan friend noodles were my favourite, definitely.
Good food at good prices, The Blue Poppy is a pocket friendly joint for students who are foodies. The ambience is good and the dishes are simply amazing.
The Blue Poppy has always attracted me whenever I have been to camac street area. The place serves authentic Chinese and Tibetan food. The food taste great and too tasty. Service is very good..
Good food, pocket friendly, polite staff, quick service.
Must try
Roasted chilli pork
Momos
Chicken shapta
Chow chow rice
Stir fried mushroom
Food - 4
Staff - 5
Ambience - 4
The place had a good vibe of a Nepali Eating House.
Well decorated and they have two different seating arrangement one with normal table and chairs and the other one with low tables with cozy cushions to sit on.
I opted for the cushion seating arrangement coz it attracted me more.
I ordered Open Momos which were great.
Chicken ThenThuk had good amount of chicken and their own handmade noodles all diped in a very flavourful broth.
Chicken Shapta was great, the flavours were amazing.
Nuclear Noodles were damn spicy. If u love spicy food u need to go for this!
Overall a very good experience!!
Awesome Experience. Nested in a busy area of middleton road in Sikkim house. The dishes were really very tasty i am glad we explored and went to this place. If you are a food lover it is a must visit place. The staff is extremely polite and friendly, service is super fast.
The ambience is very serene and calm with an option of floor seating with cozy cushions.
We had:
Pan Fried Pork Momo- 10 pcs (260/-)
Pork Phalay- 4 pcs (180/-)
Chilli Pork- 220/-
All the items tasted extremely good and were freshly prepared.
However, the price, as can be seen above, is nowhere near to the ones published in here. The restaurant has been revamped and prices adjusted too.
The Blue Poppy at the Sikkim House is a great place for having Tibetan cuisine. They have a cosy ambience.
Coming to the food, I ordered:
i) Chicken Open Momos- There were 10 small sized momos. The momos were tasty but the stuffing was less.
ii) Chicken thenthuk- The chicken broth was thick and delicious. A healthy bowl.
iii) Chilli Pork- One of the best I had till date. The pork was very soft and succulent.
Visiting again very soon.
The best chinese place that i know in kolkata. We have been there a zillion times and never have we been disappointed. The ambience is quite simple. The steamed momos are a delight and so is the chilli garlic hakka chow. The manchurian and chilly momos are also pretty good. The babycorn that we tried was not that good. The prices are quite nominal!! 😋
This enchanting restaurant captivates with its intimate floor-seated dining, warm lighting. Rich aromas of delectable cuisine fill the air as plush cushions offer cozy seating. The gentle hum of background music complements the serene atmosphere, creating a perfect haven for an unforgettable dining experience.❤
Loved the atmosphere and their service. Specially like the ground seating arrangements. Somewhat didn't like the chicken wings in chilly butter sauce. It was very buttery and not at all spicy but loved the momo. Will visit again to try some other dishes.
Actual Rating- 4.5/5
This is one of my favourite places to eat at and I have visited it numerous times. I love most of the dishes that I have tried here and would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat.
Some of my absolute favourites here are the Pork Kothay, Chicken Wings in Chilli Butter Sauce, and Kimchi Fried Rice. Besides these, the Mutton Momo, Pork Thenthuk Soup, Stir Fried Flat Noodles, and Chilli Pork (loved the flavour in this one but the meat itself was a bit dry and chewy) are pretty delicious as well. However, I'm not a fan of their phaleys or chicken shapta and think they can be given a miss while ordering. The food is reasonably priced and the portion sizes are quite big.
Apart from that, the ambience is warm and welcoming. There's option to seat both on chairs and on the floor, which I love about this place. The staff is extremely polite and courteous and the servics is pretty quick. Please keep in mind that they remain closed from 3:30 pm to 5pm and plan your visit accordingly!
The momos were just melting in the mouth! It was tooo good.
All of the foods we ordered were absolutely perfect in their taste. The ambience was great, very relaxing.
Gonna come back again...
The atmosphere was pretty good and I loved the concept of sitting on the floor and dining. Tried the chicken momo, qewa datsi, and garlic noodles. The food was okay, a bit too oily compared to what I would have preferred.
The actual hyped Sikkim House for it’s Momos is here, “The Blue Poppy Thakali”.
The Sikkim House has another restaurant at the 1st Floor of Sikkim House with the name of “The Gangtok Kitchen” which many might mistake it for the Sikkim House’s Momo.
Now, to begin with.
Being the person where visiting every Chinese Cuisine now and then is a common task.
Gotta says this place offers food in the best quality along with the service.
Too quickly served on table.
Qr menu on table order is available.
Its a great place for momo lovers. The momos are really juicy and soft. one must try their mutton kothey and mutton steamed momo.
Went to this restaurant for lunch, the ambience was very good. We tried Chicken kothey, Egg fried rice and Chicken Shyapta. Food tasted exceptionally good and the portion was decent. Price is very reasonable. Only the service and hospitality could have been a little better. Overall good experience. Would love to visit again.
Amazing Himalayan cuisine. Great pork dishes and more. Steam Momos and Mongolian Pork are must tries
I just like the seating arrangement of this place. They have a shoe rack also.
Food is good, but they don't serve soup with the momos.
I went on a lunch alone at The blue poppy thakali and had ordered chicken kothey, chicken fried rice based on the recommendation of the server. This was my first time trying chicken Kothey and I was absolutely amazed and shocked that I had never heard or Tried this dish before. Chicken fried rice was very fresh and they served a lot. The ambience was alright and the food overall had a good taste, however nothing extraordinary. Good thing is that use digital menu cards and there is no wait time as such.
Tried Nepali Pork Thali. The sides were good especially the Kali daal and aloo dam but quantity was very less. Pork curry was excellent but the curry was very less and they will not refill upon asking. Pork meat was too good, very soft and juicy. Overall good. You can order extra rice and daal without any extra charge.
The food is too and well worth the money. We had chicken momo kothay (a must have) , mixed fried rice and chilli pork. We all had their inhouse mocktails, green apple mohito and mojito both were very good.
The food was great. However the chicken was not fresh enough, which was quickly replaced by them.
The environment is too good though not very large.
All the staffs behaviour was nice.
Overall a good experience 👍
Read mixed reviews about the place. But when the visionary behind the place is bestowed the title of “Momo Queen of India”…a visit becomes mandatory.
Ordered:
- The Kothey: While I normally love the “pork dumplings” category more than the chicken (personally think the fat makes them juicer)…must say the chicken Kothey were better. But both absolutely fresh and delicious. The dip along with it was just brilliant.
- Butter chilli wings: Finger licking good…the umami hits at a different level. But a tad bit greasy.
- Chicken Thukpa: Clean and fresh on the palate.
- Chilli pork: Well made. The meat was soft and succulent.
- Prawn wafers: I’m sure the folks took them out of a pack & fried them…but so glad we ordered them…twice 😅
The waiting staff could definitely do better with their service.
Concluding: Doma Wang did a helluva job in creating this space by herself. The place still holds its charm….and is well worth a visit.
The food and the ambience really stands out. The service was also good but I don't know why they added Service Charge by default (it was removed when asked for) but I have never seen a restaurant of this category separately charging Service Charge.
Coming to the food, we had
1. Crispy Pork in Chilly Butter Sauce
2. Mutton Steamed Momo
3. Oyester Basil Noodles
4. Non-veg Thukpa Noodles Soup
5. Kothy Chicken Momo
6. Blue Lemonade
7. Green Apple Mojito
I really liked sitting on the floor arrangement which I don't think is present in many restaurants in Kolkata.
The sitting arrangement is what I love the most about this restaurant.... There are pillow mats and the table height is very low so you can sit on the pillow mat on the floor with ease and relax while eating.... it's kind of Japanese culture....
And the foods are awesome....the momos are just delicious....and you won't be wanting to miss the taste of the fried momos...
Another special tasty dish is Thukpas 🍜....

Blue Poppy Thakali in Kolkata offers a unique culinary experience, bringing the flavors of the Himalayas to the city. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it was a delightful journey of vibrant aromas, authentic recipes, and warm hospitality.
As I entered Blue Poppy Thakali, I was immediately captivated by the cozy and rustic ambiance, reminiscent of a traditional Nepalese eatery. The restaurant's attention to detail in creating an inviting atmosphere added to the overall charm of the dining experience.
The menu at Blue Poppy Thakali showcases the best of Thakali cuisine, known for its bold flavors and hearty dishes. From momos and thukpas to traditional curries and grilled meats, the options are plentiful.
