Food was tasty and delicious. We went together with friends and we found this restaurant. The ambience was good so we expected a good food. And as per our expectations the food was tasty too. It was amazing. The quantity was satisfactory. To all the foodie this is a must place to try. Price is under budget so no need to worry.
The best biryani place in Kolkata! #5star
only this can compete with the biryani delicacies of Kabuliwala brand.
This was in my checklist for a longggg time and finally gave it a visit. Classy decor, comfortable ambience, family dining areas, attractive even for your clicks too.
ordered dum chicken biryani, veg mix biryani, spicy kadhai chicken gravy and their best offering : shahi tukda!
extremely delicious that you will remember it for years.

So we ordered this biriyani from india restaurant. With that we took chicken aloo. Well the overall taste was amazing. The biriyani was good. It was nothing special though. But it was not average too. Chicken was perfectly cooked. Place was cozy and comfortable.
Mutton and Chicken chap is best in kolkata, biryani also very good.
I loved the food.their take away process is safe and hygienic. Loved the paratha and Chicken Galouti kebab.the phirni was such a bliss.
Absolutely fabulous biryani. One of the best in Kolkata. You might have to wait a little for the AC restaurant upstairs but they have got kind of a wonderful lobby and the wait for the food is worth it. Food is reasonably priced if you compare the quality and quantity. Loved it.
I went to India Restaurant this week and asked for a parcel of mutton biryani, mutton daryabadi biryani, phirni and shadi tukda. Trust me the quality is awesome. Daryabadi biryani tastes quite different, sweet and spicy at the same time. Mutton biryani is the normal version and tastes nice as well. Phirni tastes out of the world. Just too good and creamy. Shahi tudka is awesome as well, maybe priced a bit too high. The only difference I felt - in the biryani they are using dalda and animal fat it seems, it sticks too much. Previously I am pretty sure they used only oil. Overall loved it.
Deluge on Biryani & Kebabs at India Restaurant,Khiderpore
Good food not only satisfies the stomach, but also the soul. The pandemic could take away all, but the zeal for gluttony is something rhat Kolkatans choose not to do away with. Kolkata has a huge array of diverse food cultures and Kolkata has enough warm bosom to accept it as it's own. One such phenomenal cuisine is the Awadhi cuisine which has gifted us the mild flavours of Biryani. Ask anyone who loves Kolkata, they will call themselves as a Biryani fanatic and all that matters is that lump of a gorgeous aromatic potato which was never a substitute of meat, but was added to enhance the flavours that people love gorging on. Since people love Biryani, the synonym to Biryani would also be India Restaurant.
Where? India restaurant is located at the Karl Marx Sarani,in Khidderpore , adjacent to Fancy Market.
What's it about? India Restaurant is a stalwart when it comes to its biryani and kebabs, however what matters is the hygiene standards being maintained post Covid. The restaurant has its usual temperature checks of the clients as well as the workers. The servers and chefs have caps, gloves and masks while serving or cleaning. The tables are properly being cleaned using the alcohol based solution. The entry of clients having symptoms of Covid are being prohibited along and no one is being allowed without masks except while eating.
What did we try?
Shirley Temple - This classic mix of ginger ale and grenadine with a squeeze of lemon topped with cherries is a refreshing mocktail.
Deep Blue Sea - Come swim in the beautiful tipsy ocean with this Deep Blue Sea. Deliciously cool fruity drink made with Blue Curacao and 7 up with a dash of lime.
Galawati Kebab with Lucknowi Paratha - The famous Lucknowi Paratha or Ulte Tawe ka Paratha is generally savoured with Lucknow's favourite melt-in-the-mouth Galouti Kebabs or Galawati Kebab. Galwat or galouti kebab is so called as the raw papaya paste added to these kebab make it so tender that it melts in mouth. Raw papaya acts as a meat tenderizer and also adds to the flavour of these kebabs. And the perfect balance of 40-50 odd spices make it even more flavoursome.
Awadhi Biryani - This aromatic, light, mild and a subtle flavored Awadhi dum biryani made with mutton. The slow cooked sublime flavours all the way from Lucknow gives the amazingness of earthern pot it is made in.
Shahi Tukda - This royal dessert straight from the culinary utopia of Hyderabad isn made by deep frying the bread soaked in sugar syrup, and drizzled with thick luscious rabdi.
Phirni - This chilled ground rice kheer with the addition of saffron strands which adds to the nicest taste and aroma to the dish.
Hospitality industry is taking a leap forward making in making lives easy post the Covid scare. Let's get accustomed and break into the "New Normal".
Cheers!

Quintessential Biryani & Kebabs maintaining all hygiene & safety measures @ India Restaurant.!
There is something about Biryani, a one pot meal which has always made us succumb to its temptations and making us surrender to its beckoning; an ultimate enlightenment for a glutton, falling prey to its aroma and surrendering to its flavour profiles. What remains debatable though, is the fine line of difference between a Biryani and a Pulao/Pilaf, something which is still considered to be of utmost mystery among gastronomists. Truly giving meaning to the phrase of a ‘diversified country’, the taste and make of a Biryani also gets varied as you move from one state to another in this country. What remains uncontested though, is the very essence of a Biryani in itself.
Kolkata Biryani as such has always been close to our heart. Subtle and light spices giving meaning to our flavour palettes, with a simple addition of our beloved potato, and sometimes may be throwing in an egg to complete the meal. India Restaurant has always been a flagbearer of holding the standards high, by dishing out some amazing varieties of Biryanis cooked by their experts in the kitchen. Located near Fancy Market in Khidderpore, a tall multi-storied building now stands, to offer their patrons a sense of fine dining, apart from a regular walk-in concept, if you just prefer the hustle and bustle of the regular flees.
A quick visit post the lockdown session, it was quite a treat to the eyes indulging in those quintessential flavours, along with the additional assurance of a safe and hygienic surroundings maintained by the management. Head caps, disposable gloves and regular temperature checks was a treat to the eyes but perhaps more satisfaction to the discerning brain caught in the concerns of the ongoing scare. The tables are kept apart, maintaining strict distance norms. What remained unchanged were the flavours we flung our way into, all the way from the other side of this city. Some quick Biryani, melting Kebabs, refreshing mocktails and sumptuous desserts literally won our hearts over.
The Awadhi Biryani was subtle, honoring the spices and lineages of our very own Kolkata Biryani, and as the legend goes of being the origin to what we hold so dear to our heart. Quantity sufficient for 2 heads, this comprised of some good 4 portions of Mutton of varying sizes. The only modification to this Biryani was the addition of the succulent potatoes, something which has become an indispensable portion of the heritage and culture of the Biryani scene in Kolkata. And then there were the fried onions, which imparted a slight sweet texture over the rustic flavours of the Mutton and the decadent aromas of the potatoes.
The Galawati Kebabs were a serious throwback to the food scenes at Lucknow. Soft, melt in the mouth kebabs, with a mix of countless spices. Some say it is well around 40/50 easily, the secret to which is known to a very few. Quite hard and difficult to the get the balance right, which otherwise would make these Kebabs very coarse for our palettes to digest the flavours. Squeeze in a dash of lime, and scoop a portion of these kebabs onto the flaky Lucknowi Paratha or the Ulte Tawa ka Paratha. A serene and sublime experience, it is very hard to describe how one feels, other than passing on the torch of beckoning to someone else reading this pen down of the divine experience.
Some quick mocktails on the likes of Shirley Temple and Deep Blue Sea, before finishing our meal with Firni and Sahi Tukda, the latter of which has been my favorite since ages now. The perfect balance of sweetness, not overdoing on the frying part; this sweet dish can transport you any day straight to heaven. With two souls walking in with a lot of concerns relating to hygiene and safety factors, what came out were two gluttons satisfied with the meal, slowly caressing their tummies, eagerly awaiting the next visit!

This is the best place for some amazing mughlai delicacies... Starting from kebabs to biriyani to firni everything is worth it's price... I loved the ambience of the place... A must try restaurant in town for sure.
Very nice taste. Good for adults but too spicy for children. Less spicy option would be good.
The best biryani in Kolkata without a doubt. All north Indian dishes are fab

This place is an institution when it comes to Biryani. Every time I'm near Kidderpore, I make sure to either dine in or take back with me loads of biryani. Their biryani is sub-par in taste, quality and serving size. The rich aroma and fine quality of rice is truly the mark of great Biryani. Not to forget the lamb cut they use. They always make sure to serve the best in the market. Their biryani is always perfectly seasoned with the perfect blend of spices. Once you have biryani from this place, I bet you'll keep craving for more.
Tandoori roti and chicken kasa u can try.. It's amazing..... Chicken kabab is also gd.... I ordered butter chicken once I was gd but chicken kasa is much better ☺
One of the best Mughlai dining experience. Went for lunch with my friends and the reception was delightful. The decor gives a Middle Eastern vibe. We ordered quite a few items and was busy with our photography spree. The staff were a delight and offered to heat up some items that had cooled off a bit so that the dishes taste perfect.
Starters: Honey Fish, Cheese Chicken Kebab, Mutton Galauti Kebab served with Paratha.
Main course: Mutton Awadhi Biryani, Daryabadi Biryani, Chicken Rezala, Garlic Nan.
Dessert: Firni, Shahi Tukda.
All the items were mouth watering good. The honey fish was made with fresh bhetki with a crispy sweet exterior and soft melt in the mouth well seasoned interior. The cheese chicken kebab was simply wow. But the Awadhi Biryani stole the show. Served in a clay pot with Raita, this delicay is a perfect blend of subtle flavours and royalty. A place I will definitely visit again.
India is our first choice when we plan to have biriyani. They deliver it to you depends on the ordered amount.I have never came across any restaurants which can beat india in case of quality as well quantity.Items you must try are:Kachhi biriyani, dariyabadi(more spicy double quantity than regular plate),india special cheese kebab(dont miss it),Firni.

This was my last visit to this epic eatery named Indian Hotel & Restaurant Kidderpore - a foodie's paradise truly..
Enjoyed the usual delicacies:
#GalawatiKebabswithParanthe - a melt in the mouth experience just like it should be - certainly one amongst the best in the city..
#MuttonAwadhiBiryani - cooked & served in an earthen clay pot - this one is a delight for any Biryani lover..
#ShahiTukda - this one is also good although too much of Kesar ensures that the one at #Sabirs remains my personal favourite in the city till date..
You rarely walk out of this eatery disappointed - I have always come out happy & gastronomically satisfied till date.. Feel free to drop in once the Lockdown is lifted - I will for sure..
A tip: Incase, if you are going via Esplanade - I would strongly recommend that one takes a #tramride from #Esplanade to #Khidderpore which according to me is the best tram ride in the city because it takes you through the lush green #Maidans and drops you right infront of the restaurant - what better to enjoy a beautiful ride before a delicious meal - #browse through the pictures below and you will know what I mean - feel free to thank me later.. 🤝

Visited for lunch. The place is huge and beautifully decorated. Nice & clean. Our order was Kachhi Biryani, Lucknowi Paratha with Mutton Kadai, in dessert Shahi Tukda. There was cold drink and green salad as well which are must while having biryani. Each and every item was delicious. Special mention goes to Kachhi Biryani. They use raisin and some other extra ingredients which enhances the taste of biryani adding some flavors to it. It is different from regular biryani and extremely delicious. The Mutton Kadai was very well cooked , so the paratha which was soft & nice. The mutton gravy is rich , so it will go well with naan/ paratha/ kulcha etc. Last but not the least was the dessert - lovely Shahi Tukda. All items are very reasonably priced. This place is ideal for large family eating out. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely loved the food. The galawati kebabs were true to their name and literally melting in the mouth. Had ordered biryani which was really light along with chicken peshwari butter masala which was excellent. The mutton chap could have been slightly better as the meat was slightly undercooked.
I love their biriyani. Very tasty ,mouth watering. Mutton piece good size and soft tender.

Recently visited this place after a prolonged gap, the place has been renovated from just a small food joint to such a beautifully decorated restaurant. But the quality of the food is still the same fro which India Restaurant is know for.

Bread-baskets
Mutton Shahi Korma
Sabz-e-bahar
Daryabadi Biryani ✅ (Recommended)

Shahi Tukda ✅ ( Highly Recommended)
Starting from the soup, which I was quite thick for a tomato soup, but it was actually yum. The Kebabs were mind-blowing specially the Kasturi kebabs. They were soft and succulent and quite smokey in flavor. The breads were all good in taste specially the Masala Kulchas. I would definitely recommend everyone to visit this place and try out their Shahi Tukda. This made my overall meal. The sweetness proportion was maintained properly, even the non- sweet lovers will fall in love with this one. The staffs were friendly and very cooperative. Overall had a great experience over there !

It had cashew, raisins, aloo, two big pieces of mutton, one boiled egg and two slices of tomato. The daryabadi biryani was the start of the show it was just amazing. The first time I have visited this restaurant was during pujo, so I refrained from uploading a review. Although I really loved the khacchi biryani and their prompt service during rush hours.
After my first visit I went back to India to have their delicious biryani whenever I had a chance. Dariyabadi biryani is also my favorite.
However I felt they can improve the quality of starters, kebabs etc.
I am definitely hoping to give them a five on my next visit.

Every time u r talking abt kolkata Biryani India restaurant will b on the top 3 they r among the famous once keeping there name n quality from yrs just love the taste
This restaurant is a perfect place for Mughlai delicacies. The array of foods they serve among which Gulaoti kebab and Biryani are must try.
I received A home delivery from India restaurant. This place is mainly known for its Biriyani and mughlai cuisines so today I ordered
- 1 mutton biriyani
- 2 chicken biriyani
Portion size where enough for two people. I was really astonished to see the portions they served for the charge they have taken.
One of the finest Awadhi style biryani I have tasted and the firni was good too. Mutton pieces could literally be torn apart using just forks. Interior decoration was soothing to the eyes. Only downside was the quantity of rice, which could have been a bit more.
Avail tram from esplanade - one of the greatest things that you should enjoy in kolkata. This a place where you can actually head onto to eat delicious biriyani. In love with this place. Must go once for casual dining and i am quite sure you will fall in love. This place is amazing with mediocre decor. There r two floors one ground and another 2nd floor. 2nd floor had A/C for your comfort and thus food costs slightly higher than ground floor.

In pic- mutton biriyani and chicken rezala
Suggestion- If you have a whole day in your hand i will suggest visit alipore zoo and aquirium and then book ola or uber and head onto this at say ₹75.
I have visited the place today only . Since I am a huge Biriyani fan I have tried mutton Biriyani , mutton shahi quorma , firni and shahi tukda . The food was just amezing and the ambience is also great .
Located in the Khidderpore fancy market area, India Restaurant is a heaven for biriyani lovers. The ambience is great, staff nice and the food is excellent.
Must visit for biriyani lovers.
Really really good quality of food. One of the best biriyanis in Kolkata. Tender mutton pieces make it a must have while in Kolkata.
I visited over there in January with my friends for lunch
We ordered
In starters
Tandoori chicken half 4.5/5
Tandoori kabab 5/5
Mutton khachi biryani 2.5/5
Chicken dopiyaza 4.5/5
Chicken chap 3/5
In desert sahi tukda it was the best !!
Virgin mojito but we forgot to take the photo of it!!
Word of suggestion have a valid parking space or dedicated zone. The food taste is quite good and tasty, specially from Indian menu. Love the fact that all the tables are attended and service is commendable.Fabulous ambience and awesome interior. The awadhi Biryani is really delcioous. Other foods are also tastes awesome.. Staffs are very polite and professional.. Loved this place
Few days back I tried this place with my friends. At first I want to say that the decoration of this restaurant is very great. It has a royal set up which will attract anyone. Then the food I tried Mixed Fried Rice ,sweet and sour chicken and Mutton Biryani. The Biryani was great Meat was very well cooked and the fried rice was also tasty. The chicken was also great. Both quality and quantity were great. The staff behaviour was also great.
no need for introducing one of the best restaurant in town serves absolutely delicious biryani and kebabs tried out the mutton biryani and reshmi kebabs
kebabs were soft and the biryani was just perfect the meat perfectly soft and had all the flavours loved the experience
The food at this restaurant is really delicious. The restaurant has a total of 3 floors and all the floors have table service. The staff were very polite , cordial and well behaved and also very helpful.
Now coming to the food items we tried -
1. Mutton Galawti Kebab
2. Chicken Tikka Kebab
3. Mutton Special Biryani
4. Mutton Kacchi Biriyani
5. Chicken Kashmiri
6. Firni.
All the food items were mouth watering. The mutton and chicken pieces were really fresh and juicy and very soft. The Mutton Kacchi Biriyani and Mutton Galawti Kebab are the signature food items in this restaurant.
One can fill his or her appetite at a reasonable price. The quality and quantity of the food items are more than sufficient and the price for the food items are really worth it !! The biriyani of this India Restaurant is the best biriyani in Kolkata.
Overall, it's a very nice restaurant both from the food and the ambience perspective. It's a highly recommended restaurant !! Do visit this place, one will not regret it . I personally really liked the restaurant.
One of the favourite places for biriyani lovers of Kolkata. Normal biriyani and Dariyabadi biriyani both are good. Other food items are also decent. Staffs are well behaved.
Cons: Their price seems high considering they are charging premium for their popularity. Bike parking is available but car parking is tricky. You can paid park on both side of the road subject to availability.

Nice food... Good test... A we'll maintain atmosphere.... Perfect place as a family restaurant.
In this Puja we went there to have our dinner. We ordered Mutton Biryani and Mutton Galauti Kabab. The prices were decent according to the atmosphere and service. Now let me come to the taste of the food. I would say the biriyani is one of the best biriyani of Kolkata, the piece of mutton was really soft. On the other hand there was a complimentary Paratha with Galauti Kabab, and it was too delicious. I'll definitely recommend everyone to go there and enjoy your food, especially the biriyani and the Galauti Kabab.
This was my First visit at Indian Resturant
Atmosphere was good...Ambience was also hood..
Come to Food Experiencing...
1- Mutton Kacchi Biriyani Taste was Awsome..
2- Galauti kebab tried, taste was medium..
3- Hariyali kebab was Awsome..
4- Sahi Tukda is Must-try dish and taste was just Mind Blowing.
5- Firni Taste is also awsome.
One of the best biryani and mughlai food serving destination in Kolkata. The restaurant is just beside the fancy market at khidirpur. There is ample car parking facility available just outside the restaurant. The restaurant is basically spread across the building that gives enough space for 100 people approx to dine at the same time. But still during rush hours you might have to wait.
Now coming to the atmosphere here. When you enter the ground floor of the restaurant you will find yourself in a typical sir and dine facility. There is one ac hall also where you can have the comfort of sitting in ac and having food. But the main attraction lies when you are sitting in the mezzanine or the 1st floor. The entrance and the whole stairs is well decorated and the sitting area also gives you a feel of fine dining.
The staff are courteous enough to smile and greet when you enter or leave the restaurant. The waiters are well informative about the food and the portions that they suggest you the right food combinations.
Now coming to the food. As I said this is one of Kolkata's best mughlai food and biryani destinations. They serve great biryani. The mutton biryani is typical Kolkata style biryani with a potato served with a piece of mutton and flavoured rice. The taste was great. Also they serve one biryani the kachhi biryani which I ordered was great. The rice was aromatic and spicy. The taste was rich and you can feel why this is called the kachhi biryani. The kebabs are also very tender and soft. Ordered a half portion of galwati kebab which was of great taste and was served with 2 portions of parathas.
As a whole the experience was good enough to visit them another time.
The food was delicious, the ambience was attractive, I ordered chicken reshmi kebab, special chicken Biryani, laccha paratha, chicken, butter masala and firni. I wanted to order dark knight ice cream but it was not available. Though food pricing is quite high, the taste is amazing.
The restaurant is located in two locations, that is Khidderpore and Kaikhali.
The Kacchi Biriyani is unique here and amazing, also this gets over really fast!
The cheese kabab is amazing as well, the malai kabab is amazing as well.
Not to forget the biryani too!
Yummy food.. Biriyani is best.. Must try their galauti kebabs with paratha..
The ambience, service, food everything was best. Price was almost ok. But the kacchi biriani was not that good. It was little bit sweetened. I like spicy biriani so I didn't like it. But finni, gajar halua, mock tails, kebabs were la-jabab 👌
Food was awesome.. we had Audhi biriyani galouti kababs. Its a must visit place in Kolkata
It's a good resturant. Staffs are well behaved and helpful. We took kacchi biriyani and mutton biriyani. Rice is good but mutton seems little undercooked. Overall experince is good.
All the 3 items we have had there was of excellent taste. Mutton Galawati Kebab is a must try as it was the softest Galawati Kebab I ever tried. Special Chicken Biryani had 2 large leg pieces along with egg and alu which can serve 3 people as well. Ambience was also pretty good.

What can be better than celebrating Independence Day in India! Wished to go there since a long time, finally fulfilled it today. Had-
• Chicken Peshawari Kebab
• Special Mutton Biryani
• Green Salad
• Shahi Tukra
I didn't like the biryani that much as it was a bit bland, but the Kebab was great with the green chutney and Shahi Tukra was the showstopper. It was the best I have ever had. Overall a nice experience. ❤
A multi-storey restaurant with AC seating, and also Non-AC seating. The food quality is amazing. The price is also reasonable. Tried Tandoori Roti and Butter Chicken. Also tried their Chicken biryani and chicken kasha earlier. If you are visiting Khidirpur, this is the place to have your lunch or dinner. The location is by the side of main road(Karl Marx Sarani).
Biriyani was really good and so aromatic and tempting 🤤, ambience was good, lacha parata mutton kosa taste so good, kebab was really good, must try awadhi mutton biriyani which is served in makta or matir Hari.
