Maybe the best place for Chinese in Salt Lake. Chicken menu is really good. Kung pao chicken deserves special mention. The sea food menu is also good.
The place is very peaceful and worth having a quality time . Staffs are very friendly specially the person who is attending me Mr. RAHUL is a very humble and nice person having a great knowledge about cooking . Love to visit again its a 6/5 star experince here.

After lockdown, Chowman Newtown is my first restaurant which I have visited. This place is amazing!! I could give more than 5 star. Not only the food is impeccable but the service and hospitality was top notch. The staff was very attentive. If any1 want to have Chinese food don't hesitate just go and visit Chowman. I've been here during this COVID situation. First of all, they have taken the utmost care regarding hygiene and cleanliness. At the entrance, they will provide proper sanitization to you and your belongings also. Just after that when you enter the restaurant you will find the service person wearing gloves, face shields, masks, and every protocol that needed to be followed by the restaurants. At the entrance, they told us about the charges regarding hygiene ( its just Rs. 25 per person ). They are providing disposable and biodegradable plates. After that one of their service person (Mr. Sujan) attended us. I seriously liked their hospitality and behavior. He suggested some of the beautiful combinations of dishes. After that, we decided to order Starter where we choose Stir-fried Chicken with basil (sorry, I don’t remember the exact name) but it just tastes heavenly. I suggest you all to taste this dish. It’s a must. With this, we ordered Drums of heaven, the king of starter and I must say, it was just fabulous. In the main course, they suggested us Wok tossed Hakka noodles with Chicken cashew nut and dry chili. We also ordered General Tao’s Chicken and chili garlic noodles. In short, all the dishes were just PERFECT and tastes great. I am totally satisfied with their food, service, and hospitality. The prices of the items are very reasonable and pocket friendly.

After almost five months of house arrest, the most important thing that comes to our notice is how well sanitized the place is. Chowman has done a good job with that. Our hands and feet too were sanitized before entry and temperatures checkes and noted. Disposable plates, spoons packed in plastic covers were provided. They took all measures to ensure that you feel good and safe. We had ordered chilli pan fried fish, chicken in cashewnut and dry chilli whoch tasted truly yumm, fried rice, chilli garlic noodle. Nothing new to say about the food, they have always done a great job with that.

Went to Chowman for the 1st time & I was not at all disappointed.... Have heard so much about its food and it was truly amazing.... Only because of this Covid situation disposable plates and spoon was provided & charged 25 bucks for each person.... The management should review this & should not charge anything extra for it.... They are following very good sanitization process in the restaurant... Kudos to Chowman Team.... Will definitely visit again for scrumptious Chinese food....

*I've been here for the first time and that too in this COVID situation*
My friends told me that they're very fond of this place and that's why I agreed to come here.
Upon reaching here I first saw they're prepared to sanitize your hand, bags, shoe at the entrance. After entering in the restaurant you can see the service person wearing gloves, face shield, mask everything possible, is waiting near your table. The tables were sanitized before our entrance but we told him to do it and he quickly did that too in front of us (Just a mental satisfaction you know). The tables are allotted as per the guidelines. It's kept blank one after the other. People coming here need not worry about safety. The ambience is very good.
After that we decided to order in 1st phase - Chicken sweet corn soup, hot n sour soup, Manchow special noodles, Roasted pork with hot garlic sauce, mixed fried rice, chicken manchurian, fresh lime soda and in the 2nd phase - mixed noodles. For every dishes the serving person assisted us completely. He explained what'd be good with what and what tastes how much spicy. His behavior was excellent. My bad that I forgot to ask his name.
The bowls for soup, glasses, plates, cutlery stuff all were disposable and biodegradable. They're not reusable. Only the side dishes were served in porcelain. They're maintaining the hygiene with utmost sincerity. They're charging Rs. 25/head as hygiene cost which I think is necessary at this moment and upcoming days as well.
The person was so nice that we suggested him to give more prawn in the mixed rice when he asked us about the food we ordered in 1st phase. So he gave us a more awesome version of mixed noodles we ordered in the 2nd phase. That sweet gesture we all liked a lot.
The prices of the items are very reasonable and pocket friendly even though it's in Saltlake. Generally we Kolkatans see that everything in and around the Saltlake is costlier than the average of main Kolkata city.

I ordered fried chicken wings, butter garlic prawns and Shanghai noodles (veg). The food was so good. The prawns were sweet, fresh and juicy. It melted in your mouth. The noodles were very tasty. The chicken wings were amazing, they'll put a famous fast food chicken wing joint to shame. The quantity is sufficient for 3 people. The packaging was perfect and what is really sweet is that they give you a hand sanitizer satchet too. Do not hesitate to order SUMPTUOUS Chinese food from here.

My first visit to the Salt Lake branch after the COVID LOCKDOWN.
Upon entering our temperatures were checked and sanitiser was sprayed upon(as is the new normal these days)
We were informed before hand about the extra hygiene charges(Fair point considering transparency is always better in establishing a relationship)
We were in the mood for some starters as it was around 6:30pm .
We were given durable thick paper plates,glasses and cutlery which were wrapped in plastic. Each table had a separate sanitiser( good job guys)
We ordered Drums of Heaven and Pan fried Chilli Basa fish..
Drums of Heaven had 8 pieces .It was tasty although a tad bit spicy for one's taste. It had a little too much cornflower coating for my liking. Well,it was tasty so not a big deal breaker.
The pan fried chilli basa fish had ten pieces(probably).The preparation was just about the right kind of spicy. We had a tough time finishing the countless number of fish pieces.
We had fresh lime soda to gulp down our meal,which lacked a few ounces of fizz. Nothing much to write home about.
The staff was courteous and welcoming.
To sum it up,in the post lockdown dining scenery,there are not many options better than Chowman. More or less maintained their usual lofty standards. Looking forward to many more evenings under the gaze of the Buddha. 😄

This place is one of my favourite the Chinese dishes are absolutely amazing the soup the noodles the side dish chilli chicken was absolutely amazing I tried chilli pork that was absolutely amazing and the lamp dish was also very good the ambiance is very e fancy and very authentic the stuff behaviour was also very good.

One of the rare places in Kolkata where overall dinning experience of a person is understood and valued. Right from the staff behaviour, to food taste, hygienic, ambience, everything was top notch. The staff takes lot of interest in suggesting you the dishes as per your preference and to also makes sure it has been made as per liking! When dining out at Chowman was a much-needed change.!
A much deliberate step, it is hard to describe in words as to how anxious and contemplating I was in stepping out of the house on the commencement of Unlock 1.0. Some much-needed assurance and a leap of faith, I ended landing up at Chowman Salt Lake, which is at a very close proximity to my residence. Felt impressed at the first go, with the thorough temperature checks, the sanitization process and enlisting the names and other credentials on to a record book in case the need arises, we were politely greeted by the restaurant staffs who themselves were wearing the face shields, masks and gloves for necessary protection.
Post the order taking, the meal arrived almost instantaneously, with a separate packet for every individual, comprising of disposable biodegradable plates, cutleries and tissues. The food was solely handled by us, and the empty plates and cutlery were disposed off separately, in a very careful and meticulous way, once we were done with the dinners. Perhaps to minimize any unnecessary approach and contacts, the interaction was kept to a bare minimum. We were happy to pay a nominal charge of Rs. 25/- per person to ensure individual safety, which anyways was intimated upon entry at the concerned restaurant.
Coming to the food, it was exemplary as usual. The Mountain Chilli Squid for starters, which had a flavourful explosion of the sweetened soy sauce along with caramelized onions, bell peppers and soft and crispy squids set up the tone. For mains, the Seafood Rice was simply sublime. A considerable number of prawns, along with squid and crab decked up the rice bowl, which paired well with the Roasted Pork in Chilli Plum Sauce. The pork portions were chosen and cut considerably well, and the sweet sauce well exceeded our expectations. The Pork was easy to cut through, and the sauce proved a perfect bonding to the delectable rice.
A sudden surprise then arrived in the form of Kung Pao Chicken. Even though the sauce is traditionally made with chilli peppers, it is the sugar which counteracts the spice quotient and makes the sauce taste rather sweet. The vinegar, soy and usually the nuts adds on to the texture of this sauce, and things were no different in Chowman. A perfectly rich, sweet and fingerlicking sauce, this too paired well with the Seafood Rice. We ended our meal with the dessert in the house, this being none other than the quintessential Honey Noodles aka Darsaan. The chips were crisp and dazzling in honey, with the vanilla ice cream providing the ending comfort to a rather stuffed soul!

The atmosphere of the place is fantastic. The sitting arrange is too good. They are famous for their cheese food. They served good quality and quantity food to every customers.
Chowman is famous for their awesome Chinese food. It is near Bidhannagar Swimming pool. I went there many times with my family and they never dissappointed me with their food and service. ❤️ My favourite foods from here are- mixed noodles (which is filled with chicken and prawn) ; roasted chilli pork (best in town) and pan fried fish. I really love their food and quantity is also good. Quality of fish, pork and chicken is fresh and good. Highly recommended but little bit costly but definitely worth trying.

Chowman is well known for their extensive menu and quality in service. They serve great food with excellent quality and quantity of the food.
We ordered:
•chilli garlic noodles (veg) : noodles was amazing. Some of amount of veggies could have been added.
•chilli garlic fried rice (veg) : good portion size with perfect amount and veggies.
•mixed veggies in white sauce: too good. Recommended. Very light and not spicy at all. P. S: cabbage could have been ignored as it smell bad a bit.
•fish in black in sauce: too good. Recommended.
•chilli chicken gravy: absolutely classic dish. Recommended. Chicken were soft and tender.
•prawn in chilli mountain sauce: this one is highly recommended. To all those who love extra spicy food, they need to try this out. Too spicy and full of flavour. Good portion size and prawns were large in size.
P. S: their packaging is great. Thank you for serving us during this pandemic.

Nice place to have chinese cuisines. I love their mostly wok tossed hakka noodles and Cantonese noodles. So nicely prepared. The flavors are nicely blended. From the main dish Butter Garlic Prawn and Schezwan Roasted Pork. These two are my favorites. If you are visiting you must try the above mentioned ones. The place is well maintained and hygienic. The staffs are nice and polite.

Chowman serves some authentic Chinese and Asian dishes. This outlet is located near swimming pool of Sector 1, Saltlake.
Recently we visited this place and had some mouthwatering delicacies. We had Lat me Kai, Barbeque Chicken, Meifoon Noodles, Chowman Special Rice and Hunan Chicken. The quantity and quality was worth the price. The prices are very reasonable. Overall loved the ambience and food.
The wait time was less and the food was great too
Dessert prices are too high...too high as compared to the quantity served...and dessert quantity is very very small but overall very good .

All I wanna say is that the atmosphere is pretty good. I love the atmosphere of Chowman. The food quality is pretty much good. And the good part is , they explain the taste of the foods if you wanna try a new item. The food is delicious here. The behaviour of the staff is also good. Though I think it is a little overpriced. Otherwise all things are good.
The main courses like rice or noodles are of a little less quantity than the other same level restaurants. Everything else are all good

Chowman has always been one of my favourite Chinese places and their new additions is perfect to increase my taste palate in authentic chinese. I really liked the Four Treasured Mushrooms, Pork with Seasonal Veg, Lamb with Basil and Chilli from the starters and Thai Chilli Prawn & Jasmine rice from main course.
They've also introduced some refreshing mocktails like Seabreeze, Summer Fresh etc.

I visited Chowman Saltlake Sector 1 for Lunch. The restaurant is quite spacious. The ambience is good. The reason why people visit this place is because of tasty Chinese at a cheaper price with a nice ambience. Service is good. We didn't have to wait much longer to get served. We visited this place on a Sunday. Usually it is hard to find seats on a Sunday but we went there between 1pm - 1:30pm and it was quite empty. I think the footfall is high post 2pm.
We ordered chicken meat ball soup, crispy Chilli Fish (Basa), Chicken Steamed Wonton, Mixed Fried Rice and Schezwan Chicken and in dessert Vanilla ice cream with mango chunks on it. The food was amazing as always. Vanilla mango is a bit expensive in comparison to the quality of the product. It was 225/-. The best part of their foods are, they never compromise on quality and quantity. Wontons were perfect. I think it is better than their momos. I am not a very big fan of their momos. But yes, their chicken steamed wonton gets a thumbs up 👍 for sure.
There is no dedicated parking lot but customers park on the sides of the roads.
First time I tried bao, it was an okay type but not so tasty, filling is not so satisfactory and it contains peanuts also. Thai noodles (mixed with shredded chicken,prawn and mushroom) which are basically fried meifoon with some spicy sauce is not my favorite one but I liked it.
