For lunch we took steamed rice, Sona moong dal, aloo bhaja, bhetki paturi and doi katla. All of them tasted amazing. My fav ones are the daal and paturi. Price can range b/w 700-1000 for two people.
There is a space crunch in the restaurant but the servers still do a great job! Kudos to the entire team.
Kasturi is a Bengali restaurant that specializes in serving authentic Bengali dishes. Located in the Ballygunge , Kasturi is a popular spot for those looking to indulge in some traditional Bengali cuisine. I recently had the opportunity to dine at Kasturi and here is my review of the restaurant.
The menu at Kasturi is impressive, featuring a wide range of Bengali dishes, from seafood to meat to vegetarian options. I was particularly excited to try their famous fish curry, which is a must-try dish for anyone visiting the restaurant. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the dishes and was happy to recommend some of their popular dishes.
As soon as my food arrived, I was immediately impressed by the presentation. The food looked fresh and vibrant, and the aroma was enough to make my mouth water. I dug in and was blown away by the flavors. Each dish was prepared with authentic Bengali spices and herbs, and the taste was simply out of this world. The fish curry was the highlight of the meal, with the fish being perfectly cooked and the curry being spicy and tangy at the same time.
However, there was one downside to my dining experience at Kasturi - the portion sizes were quite small. While the quality of the food was excellent, I found that I was left wanting more. This was particularly disappointing given the relatively high prices of the dishes. Nonetheless, the taste of the food was so good that I couldn't help but order more dishes to satisfy my cravings.
Overall, I would highly recommend Kasturi to anyone looking to try authentic Bengali cuisine. The taste of the food is outstanding, and the ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for a cozy dinner with friends or family. While the portion sizes may be on the smaller side, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. So, if you are in the mood for some delicious Bengali food, head on over to Kasturi - you won't regret it!
Kasturi - When it comes to Dhakaiya Cuisine is an undefeated name. Each and Every dish that they produce is a stroke of Genius. And this particular restaurant is no different. With their vast menu and terrific ambience this restaurant sets an even higher standards. Their staff especially Mr. Debasish is a valuable asset to the establishment. Try their mutton kosha and chicken duckbunglow.
I visited the ballygunge branch. The Ambiance was too nice. I ordered their Maharaja thali with Jumbo Chingri Malaikari. The taste of the all foods are good. But I disappointed about the Chingri Malaikari. Because they claim it Jumbo but it's not jumbo and also the taste of the Malaikari only as sweet no taste of coconut. I taste much better Malaikari before than this resturent. So I don't recommend the Malaikari. Also the thali was shareable but not enough for 2. Because the quantity of the rice was too less. You can ordered separate rice to eat all items. Also after Ordered the separate rice the quantity of the rice like half plate but they claim the rice was full plate. And otherwise ambiance and staff behavior can manage all these things. I mean the behavior of staff was very kind and helpful. And other items taste good. I like very much the Kochupata Chingri. This is amazing. And the size of the mutton not satisfied because of their price. One piece of Mutton was feels like dry. Otherwise I like the foods. But I don't think the thalis was suitable for two people. I think quantity of the rice can get more. So I recommend you at last you visit here and taste food other than Chingri Malaikari.
Excellent food and the authentic taste, flavor of Bengal
Best Place of Bengali food, real taste of Bangladeshi items..
Quantity and quality is also good.
Does not focus on regular THALI's.. A La Carte being served within normal timing..

Authentic Bengali cuisine restaurant. Great ambience. Famous for its fish. Pricing is just right. If you are a fish lover you won’t go dissatisfied. Great desserts. Must visit when in Kolkata.
One of the best authentic bengali cuisines ever! Must visit!
Fantastic Bengali food in affordable price. Multiple branches over Kolkata. You should must try special dishes like Sheele Bata chingri/chicken/mutton etc. Quantity is also good enough for serving 2 persons with each side dish.
Went to Kasturi in search for local Bengali food options and had an amazing experience.
I had Aaloo Posto, Daal, Chapati and Poori which all tasted delicious and as per Bengali recipe rituals.
Ambience inside is okaish, nothing exciting.
Must go for the Food Taste and Quality. Totally worth for the price. Service part was good as well.
Good Bengali dishes ...liked the thalis ..took normal n maharaja thali had sufficient quantity
Last time I was at this restaurant was in December 2016. It was undergoing a renovation then - on the first floor. I am pleased to see and report that now the renovation is complete. We arrived today at this place at half past eleven AM. They start serving lunch at 12:00 PM. After parking our car at a nearby location (parking is a little challenging in this busy locality) We had to wait a bit, but got ourselves comfortable before we placed the order. A few new items have been added to the menu - I am pleased to see. Ordered the food - they were oh so delicious! especially the kachur pata prawn preparation. The prawn cooked in tender coconut is also worth mentioning. So was the moong dal with cauliflower. above all the service of the waiters was superlative.
Awsome food. The ambience is average and the staff is also average. They don't serve the food properly. But coming to the food, this is one of the best authentic bengali resturant you will find im town. The kochu pata chingri is a must have and the sorse bhekti is just finger licking good. The food quality is superb and the food quantity is also good as well. Trying taking half plates of rice if you want to try variety of dishes or else you will be full too quick. Its a must visit place if you are looking for authentic bengali food
