Simply put, a great place, Cafe Ekante is. Nice location, aesthetically designed boat shaped restaurant, neat and clean. Gives a moving kind of feeling against the backdrop of the lake, nice it is. Food is good, but a wee bit over priced. Cost of food needs to come down for repeats by customers. Price-quantity relation is inversely proportional here. Pickup & drops over the pond on which this cafe is situated need to be advertised, surprisingly even the cafe staff/waiters had no information or guidance on the facility. A little more of friendly attitude (and conversation skills) from the restaurant & reception staff could add up to better customer service. The restaurant does not provide finger-bowl and the wash room is inconveniently placed. A once try place for now.

I would have definitely given it a 5 but for the lag time in service,it's terrible. These guys must be under staffed. They simply can't manage the state of affairs when the place is buzzing with people. The food is good and the ambience is remarkable, especially during winter months. A must visit just for the sheer experience of dining there where you'll feel you're sailing in a ship.

Visited this place for the first time that too in this current COVID 19 situation. They are doing proper temperature check and also they are using contactless sanitization machine. The staffs are also very particular about the sanitization. They were gloves, mask , hair caps.
I ordered Basanti pulao and kosha mangsho.
The pulao tasted very bland. It felt as if it was only yellow colored rice served with cashews and raisins. There was no taste or smell at all. While to a surprise the mutton tasted extremely good. The mutton pieces were juicy and really tender. The price point of the restaurant is at a high level compared to the items and the Quantity they are serving. But nevertheless the experience was really good. Hope to visit soon again.

There are two ways to get to this hotel. By walking on the bridge from gate 1 or by a ferry from gate 2 . It is a Very Upscale Restaurant. Here you have a nice green stretch. You have a huge water body and open blue sky.The bengali dishes are mouthwatering. The food was tasty and the surroundings were soulful.
You can enjoy Indian, continental dishes there. While visiting Eco park recommend to go

First of all the menu provided in zomato is not the present menu of Cafe Ekante. The Cafe Ekante is serving bengali cuisine while Its Houseboat part is for chinese section.

Now coming to the ambience,it's really nice. You can enjoy romantic moments with your love as well as joyful moments with family n friends while feeling the intrinsic beauty of sunset over the lake.

Following are what we ordered today-

1)Barishali ilish tikia(5/5)-highly recommended

2)topse fry(4/5)-
these crunchy fries of 4pc of topshe fish goes perfect with kasundi and dhonepatar chutney.

3)Pyaz narkel mochar pulao(4/5)-
with a little bit of sweetness, some amount of ghee, fried onions, plantain flower and coconut, this pulao tasted delicious.

4)Bikrampur kasa murgi(4/5)-
Though the gravy is little bit spicy and peppery, but it goes well with the pulao. And 4pc chicken are succulent soft and enough for two person.

5)Bhapa doi(5/5)-give it a try.You will be amazed.

6)Nolen Gur Ice cream(5/5)-Their speciality.Yummy.

****Cafe Ekante Chinese Boat Restaurant****

Planned a trip to Eco Park and obviously every trip is incomplete without a sumptuous Lunch or Dinner. Inside Eco Park there's many restaurants but the best is in the Eco Park Island - "Cafe Ekante" where one can choose between Indian-Bengali & Chinese. We choose Chinese which is a Floating Boat ⛵. One can reach here by jetty service provided for the restaurant only in the Eco Island free of cost. Waited for more than an hour just because it was a Sunday in Winter. Now the main things to note as below:

*Ambience*: 5/5

There are no other place which can give such a beautiful picturesque & scenery. Just awesome!
One can sit inside the boat or can choose to sit on the deck of the boat amidst the beautiful scenery.

*Service*: 2.5/5

This is the part which disappointed the most. Wait time after ordering the food is nearly an hour which is really disgusting. This happens due to tremendous pressure with very low staffing. Staffs are courteous but quite slow. This needs to be improved.

*Foods*: 5/5

We ordered as below:

# Drums of Heaven (6 pcs) - Awesome : 5/5
# Chilli Garlic Noodles - Fantabulous : 5/5
# Chilli & Basil Fried Rice with Chicken - Lip Smacking : 5/5
# Pan Fried Fish with Sweet and Sour Sauce (8 pcs) - Fingerlicious : 5/5
# Chilli Garlic Chicken (8pcs) - Drooling : 5/5

In one sentence, I have never tasted so tasty Chinese delicacy in the city. For Chinese food lovers this is a must go.

*Quality*: 5/5

There's no compromise on the quality of products used. Fresh fishes, chickens & vegetables. High quality food graded crockery. Oil used in food is of best quality so no question of indigestion after a stomach full of foods.

*Quantity*: 5/5

Every item is provided with very good quantity. 2 plates of Fried Rice is more than enough for 3 pax. Chicken-fish all are of well quantities.

#Conclusion#:

This place is highly recommended. Those who are not fond of Chinese delicacy, can go for Indian-Bengali part. This overall rating is 4/5 just because of the service was not upto the mark but the waiters assured the service is good during weekdays & normal weekends.

Went to Cafe Ekante for an office lunch. The waterside view from the restaurant was one of the key attractions. The interior decor could have been better. It does not have a huge seating capacity so for weekends and public holidays, expect delay.

We ordered Fish Fry, Luchi, Kachuri, Mutton Kasha, Chicken Kasha, Alur Dum, and a vegetarian dish with a complicated name that I eventually forgot.

Fish Fry was prepared using Kolkata Bhetki and tasted good. It was accompanied by Mustard Sauce and a coriander pudina chutney. Luchi and Kachuri tasted good. There were large chunks of mutton in the mutton kasha however all the pieces were not succulent. The taste was good. Alur Dum had a yogurt and nut based gravy, and a bit sweeter.

We ended with Bhapa Misti Doi as dessert which seemed to be very close to custard in terms of taste, was quite light and tasted good.

Overall, recommended for repeat visits.

When to go? Lunch: for vast panaromic view and wonder how is this place possible inside a metropolitan city, Dinner: Just two of you and a really long stroll across the lake.
What to order? Must: Gondhoraaj sorbet for refreshing sensation, Daab chingri (just sudden ongoing trend), Katla korma (bangladeshi style), can try: Bhetki paturi (so so). Dont waste on chicken because chicken is not authentic bengali ingredient.
4 stars: Ambience, Scenary, Taste and parking.

Cafe Ekante is one of Eco Park's beauties, dishing out predominantly high end Bengali cuisine with some fusion and North Indian delectables.
The houseboat restaurant adjacent to it offers Chinese.
Both can be easily reached keeping Eco Park's Gate No. 6 on the left or alongside Gate No. 1, with ample parking space provided near the entrance. To reach either of the eatery one has to walk along a long bridge over the waters connecting the island housing the restaurants, a conference hall (famous for FIFA football related event) and a cluster of picturesque cottages.

The glass encased interior of Cafe Ekante commands a charming view of the huge lake and skyline outside lined with palms and coconut trees (reminded me of the backwaters of Kerala) with Cafe Ekante's shikara gliding by.
It truly offers one of the best scenic views and most romantic ambiances in the city, perfect for a weekend gateaway with family, friends and of course that special someone for a cozy date.

Besides lunch, evening tea and snacks and dinner they also offer breakfast.
Coming to the food, dishes tried were:

>MUTTON THAKURBARI: Though not fond of mutton, this dish of 4 mutton pieces proved rather delightful to have with Indian bread. The morsels were extremely soft, salty to the right degree with a slightly rich but pleasant muttony gravy. Good option for mutton lovers, specially if one prefers gravy.
Price: INR 379
Verdict: 4/5

>MURGI GOALANDO: A salted gravy chicken dish having 4 chunks of chicken, good to have with rice, pulao, luchi or even roti/naan. The chicken portions were soft and well-cooked, smothered in a yummy sweet-and-sour tomato-based gravy made with prawn paste.
Price: INR 329
Verdict: 3.9/5

>PLAIN NAAN: Feather soft and easily tearable, with a fresh taste to accompany sides. Recommended.
Price: INR 69
Verdict: 4/5

>TANDOORI ROTI: Possibly the worst tandoori roti I've come across, stiff, dry and burnt in most places with some sharp pointy edges that could've pricked one's gums if one hadn't been careful.
Price: INR 39
Verdict: 2/5

>MIHIDANA SHOTS: Don't let the name fool you: simply put a bowl of baked Mihidana topped with a thick delish layer of kheer, a lovely dessert to top off a meal. According to me the best item of our lunch.
Price: INR 129
Verdict: 4.5/5

Server was extremely friendly, helpful and honest, reminding me to pick my iPad which I'd mistakenly left on the table while leaving.
Service was also swift.

Prices are however comparatively expensive and I wouldn't say tastewise food is worth the money or up to the mark - better tasting food can be found elsewhere - but definitely not bad either, tasteful and quantitywise more than sufficient for two. The restaurant does not provide any discounts whatsoever, thus the bill amounted to INR 1182 inclusive of taxes.

For those looking to shell out a few bucks for Bengali cuisine or wishing to spend some quality times with loved ones then Cafe Ekante can be placed on one's wish list. The best part about Ekante's lunching or dining experience is its amazing ambiance and mesmerising view, coupled with soft dulcet instrumentals in the background that set the breezy romantic mood. :)

Even the concept of a floating boat restaurant is amazing but what's more amazing is how well this restaurant executes this concept!

Food :- The food here is average and the onions here can be very unhygienic. The drinks are better than the food here.

Ambiance :- The ambiance is obviously the main attraction of this restaurant and I really enjoyed eating in the floating boat while watching the beautiful scenery in front of me. I also loved how you could go out of the eating room and explore the rest of the boat. I loved the bridge and the grass field that we had to cross to reach this restaurant since crossing the bridge and the grass fields during a cloudy atmosphere was truly one of my most memorable experiences!

Service :- The service here is average but staffs communicate well with each other.

Overall, a great restaurant and highly recommended if you love eating your food while watching sceneries. You will truly have a memorable experience here!

This is situated in the lap of enchanting Eco Island in Eco Park. This place is surrounded by a huge water body which gives you a eye-soothing experience.
The foods (starters, main-course, dessert all) are extremely delicious. This is really great restaurant in Bengali cuisine. The price is also reasonable and quantity is very good. It offers a huge variety of mouth-watering Bengali dishes.
Service is excellent.

This place holds a special place in my heart..... I went here on 6th Dec 2018 for lunch with the love of my life..... It was out first date.... Talking about the ambience, the whole journey from entering eco park to reaching the restaurant in a boat is itself so romantic.... The place is just beautiful and perfect for a romantic date.... Now lemme talk about the food:
1. Fillet of bhetki marinated with French mustard and crumb fried - this is like our very own bhetki fry. It was crispy from outside, soft and melted in the mouth from inside with the perfect taste n flavours.
2. Basanti polao - a bong's all time favourite, basanti pulao with its beautiful n authentic flavours n perfect sweetness. U just put it in ur mouth n taste heaven.
3. Ekante kosha mangsho - mutton perfectly cooked in the authentic bengali spices. Perfectly cooked to make the meat tender and melt in mouth. Nothing can match its combination with the basanti pulao. Its just heaven on ur plate
4. Nolen gurer ice-cream - we finished our meal with this awesome bengali dessert. This is my man's fav dessert and the smile I saw on his face when he first tasted the ice-cream, I never hv seen that much happiness before.... Seeing his happiness i forgot to take a picture of this....
Overall this place served excellent and authentic bong food n overall with the ambience, food n feel the place was not over priced as well.... All in all it is a must visit for all the foodies out there....

The vast Park has so much to give you with fresh air, good view, 7 wonders and a huge river like experience on the  boat. Among all that we have this small Gem place just on the other side which is Cafe Ekante.
It was my opportunity to visit this place on the occasion of a good cause that is to save Small Ilish which was curated by Hidco and after having a good session over Ilish we drop down to try some Ilish Delicacies here.
Tried their Ilish Pulao and Biryani which was a new experience for me. The falvor of Ilish and the  aroma of Biryani was Going pretty well but i liked the Pulao much.

First thing you should know Cafe Ekante is backed by government of West Bengal but it is not super cheap, rather it's bit costly. Inside the Eco Island they have 3 types of restaurants - main house, open air one and the ship. The Ship is definitely better than the other two!

Food is not bad either, rather I would say they are as usual good in a reputed restaurant. Ambience is quite cosy and stuffs are helpful.

The place's location had always attracted me so it's finally good to be here.

Speaking of Ambience, the place is located on an Island inside Eco Park which calls for a great Boat Ride. The Island itself creates a lovely atmosphere, especially during sunsets. The Restaurant is spacious w/ ample amount of seatings for big & small groups along w/ decor that is pretty & elegant.
Service is a bit laggy at times but nothing too bothersome for me.

Coming to Food, I'd say it had both highs & lows. I was here to have look at their Ilish Parbon Festival out of which the Ilish Biryani performed quite nicely while the Ilish Pulao fared decently at best, however it's Fish was really delicious & I think that's mention worthy.

What I've had :-

FOOD & DRINKS :
1. Ilish Biryani - must try
2.Boneless Ilish Pulao

Overall, the Food was good & the atmosphere was amazing. Looking forward to being here again.

The menu include Ilish Biriyani, Ilish pulao, ilish paturi, Ilish bhapa and many more.

As the monsoon arrives so does the tradition of celebrating the HILSA – the most sought after dish and the pride of Bengal. And giving patrons the perfect opportunity to enjoy its distinctive, simplistic and quintessential flavours, Cafe Ekante, the city’s popular restaurant, presents all types of ilish biryani and pulao and many more.

Cafe Ekante very well captures the born appetite spirit of Calcutta and brings it to the capital city of India. The love of food is what binds people in spite of the cultural diversity and here they make sure this essence is reflected in the dishes and in the ambiance. Its a must visit place for all the non-vegetarians out there and is a perfect place for family gathering. The outlet is located inside the eco park island.

The other mouth watering delicacies showcase the fish in various textures and flavours, with interesting pairings like Ilish Biryani with bone, boneless and pulao. Each and every items was very good and amazing. Highly Recommend!!

Ilish parbon, organised by HIDCO is on and live at Cafe Ekante. The true intention of this festival is to spread awareness about not buying 'khokha' Ilish so that our future generation can enjoy Ilish just like us.

It was a fun day which included a small tour around eco park and then a launch ride to Cafe Ekante. The view from Cafe Ekante is mesmerising. Located amidst the nature, Cafe Ekante provides you a serene atmosphere to enjoy your food.

The Ilish biryani served to us was of two variants. One being with bone and the other being boneless. I went for the boneless Ilish biryani although it had quite a few tiny bones. The rice lacked the flavour of biryani but the true flavour of biryani may overpower the flavour of Ilish. The fish was very soft and fresh.

A day when the city Food Bloggers were invited by WBHidco Ltd at Eco Park to be part of the EAT LARGE, SAVE SMALL ILISH awareness campaign that has started to spread around Newtown area and it's neighborhood regions. The highlight of the campaign led by Chairman cum Managing Director of WBHidco Ltd Mr. Debashis Sen was to encourage people to enjoy eating Ilish the "Queen of Fishes" only when it's fully grown and not let it be consumed when it's small as there is a big problem that needs immediate attention. The availability and catch of Ilish has decreased a lot in Bengal due to many reasons and one of the main reasons is the Hilsa fishery being over-exploited in the West Bengal waters.
If this continues then there will be a time where Ilish won't be available at all, so we have to be responsible towards this situation and stop eating Khoka Ilish and educate everyone around to eat the large Ilish which should be more than at least 1kilograms.

Now the ILISH PARBON was also officially launched and special Ilish dishes for the season will be available at Biswa Bangla Gate Restaurant for dinner and also be available at Cafe Ekante for Lunch/Dinner. You will get dishes like Ilish Pulao, Ilish Biryani Boneless, Ilish Bhapa, Ilish Paturi and many interesting lip smacking preparation.

The ambiance of this place is really good. Best place to go out on a date. The vast lake view is very relaxing. The view in the evening with all the lights on is really mesmerising. If you’re staying near salt lake then you must visit this place. It’s located in the middle of the lake you can see this place from eco park, it’s a place easily visible and its location and beauty attracts everyone. Coming to the food, I really loved the food it’s authentic and delicious. They don’t offer a lot variety of foods as a typical café but whatever they have in their menu is just too good. Price is reasonable for the ambience and the taste.

Café Ekante offers a picturesque location and an intriguing concept with two setups: one serving authentic Bengali dishes and the other, Boat House, offering Chinese cuisine. The Boat House at Café Ekante provides an awesome environment that's truly enjoyable. However, while the experience is great, the food taste might be considered average for the price point. The variety and ambiance make it a worthwhile visit, but there might be room for improvement in the culinary aspect to match the overall experience.

Food quality, taste was brilliant. I like spicy food. A bit on the costly side - 700 for one. Quantity was on the low side. Ordered chilli garlic noodles and tangra chicken. The noodles is not '2 for 3' (as the they said) it is only 'one for one'. The chicken dish had around 10 pieces. Gravy was on low side. Atmosphere was calm . Customer service was as expected.

It is a lovely place with a great ambience. However a few small things that the restaurant should address... Firstly, if certain dishes from the menu are not served due to the supply or demand, that needed to be pointed out while the menu card was distributed. That way the customer won't be disappointed after deciding on the food and learning it was not available. Secondly, we ordered one mutton and one chicken kossa with other stuff. We were told that the flavours and the tastes would be different. However both had the same gravey. Still a must visit. We will definitely be coming back.

It's a beautiful place for small outing. You will have to enter through Gate 1 of eco park and avail boat facility to reach cafe ekante. This boat trip is free of cost. But if you want to go by walking then you need to purchase a coupon costing 300/- per person. It is available online too. Good thing is this coupons are adjustable with your food bill in the restaurant. There are two restaurants on the island. One is a floating restaurant which has only Chinese options available whereas the other one serves other Indian, continental dishes. The scenic beauty of the boat is awesome. However, not advised for a full course lunch or dinner at least for the Bengali visitors. The quality of food is out of question in both places. The cost of food is little on the higher side. We spend around 3900 for moderate lunch for 4 adults and 2 children. The taste was however quite satisfying.

A perfect destination for family gathering or a day with your special one. Ambiance is too good, most of if the foods were equally lip smacking. The service can be better. We tried : Tandoori Chicken - 3⭐ Fish Makhmali Tikka - 4⭐ Kancha Aam er shorbot - 3⭐ Basanti Pulao - 4⭐ Cox Bazar er Chingri Pulao - 5⭐ (Recommended) Daab Chingri - 5⭐ (Must Try) Kancha lonka Murgi - 4⭐ Mutton Murshidabadi - 3⭐ Daab/Nonlen Gurer Icecream - 2⭐ (was frozen and had ice texture)

Cafe Ekante is hosting Ilish Parbon from 30th June to 15th July (2023). After coming across this advert we decided to visit the place. Lunch starts from 12:30. You need to buy tickets to get inside (₹300 per person which needs to be paid online via UPI). You can show this ticket during billing to get the same amount as discount. We ordered Steamed Rice, Chanar Dalna, Ilish Bharta (tasted best and quantity was sufficient for 3-4 people), Tel Ilish, Ilish shorshe and Ilish Paturi. Amongst these we loved the paturi the most since it felt like the Ilish was not marinated properly or cooked in the gravy for long. The fish taste was good and priced moderately, although these were not fresh but cold storage fish from last year. When we visited, it was around 3 in the afternoon. The restaurant was not packed yet it took them around half an hour to serve us the dishes. Overall it was a ok experience and suggest everyone to give it a shot, just for the Ilish Bharta.

The glasses were dirty on asking for replacement the waiter was like I don't see any dirt neither in water nor in glass and he just washed the glasses and gave them back. Food is expensive and quantity is kind of okay but good in taste. The atmosphere is really good.

Very good place in the middle of lake in the eco park. It has approach from 2 side. 1st you can come from eco park. There you will get ferry which will carry you to the restaurant. Or you can come by car just before 1st gate of eco park take the left turn. You will reach near Dhaba ajante. Where you have to buy Rs 300 coupon per head then they will allow your car to enter inside and you reach a parking area which is around 500 mtr away from the restaurant. You park your car there ( Parking 50rs) and go to the restaurant by walk through wooden bridge. For elderly they have cart. Food is good but option is mainly chinese. Ambience is nice.

Superb ambience! And splendid atmosphere, too good time spend some time with your loved ones. Talking about the food, taste is really awesome, I had my best kulcha in this place. Though prices is on higher side , but there was no compromise with taste and hygiene. Only con: is that you will have hard time to find a cab while returning from the place.
