Beer price has been increased rest all is fine... Good for alone moment or cozy environment
One of the oldest crowd puller of Park Street, went there on Christmas Eve and loved the experience. The food, ambience and the live music on piano was amazing. It definitely gives you the old Calcutta vibes and I simply loved the overall experience
The food and liquor were really cheap compared to other pubs of Park Street, and the staffs were do friendly to us!
A brilliant well light nostalgic place , good food and great friendly service - we had lovely rum, chilli chicken, fish finger and some good noodles - a nice feeling
Quantity is good..nice quality food taste is also awesome... Value for money... Must visit
Went here for the last day of the year. The staff was amazing. We ordered:
●Mixed chowmein
●Mixed fried rice

.
Will visit again soon!
Good food...well behaved staff ...only malaicurry prawn was not made properly
Their food is very good. The chicken pieces are very soft. The quantity of food is very good.
One of the oldest and reputed restaurants of Kolkata, Moulin Rouge is perfect for family outings and dates with a vintage decor and a romantic ambience. The lamb dishes here are well cooked and quite boasted of. Would recommend this place to others as well. Cheers and Happy Eating!❤️
Let me first talk about the polite and courteous waiters. They are so warm and helpful. The decor is kinda romantic. The restroom is clean and the seats are plush and comfy. I had chicken steak sizzler which was served with sauteed veggies, rice, and a poached egg. I loved the dish and will definitely visit again.

Oh! This is a lovely place at Park Street. Went to this place on the last sunday of the year and it was quite crowded till 3rd Jan 2020 they are not accepting Zomato Gold.
The ambience is pretty good with courteous and experienced staffs though we had to repeat our order several time. They offered us a new menu made for the festival purpose.
We took:
◆Mix Fried Rice-₹210/- The rice had proper amount of prawns, chickens and eggs.
◆Mixed Hakka Noodles-₹210/-
◆Hunan Chicken-₹295/- (12pcs)
◆Spring Fried Chicken-₹295/-(12pcs~Appetizers)
◆Tuborg -₹310/-
The quantity and quality of the food was too good. We've cherished our experience here.
The food here is good but the staff is absolutely the worst that I’ve seen anywhere! It was the worst experience I’ve had and I eat out on an almost regular basis!!! They’re so rude and impolite .....simply for tips! If you fail to pay up they’ll act like you’re eating there for free and then say stuff like we will behave badly and we’re not your servants!
Will absolutely never go back there again! Very very disappointed!
My old place for awesome food. Specially the chicken tetrazini, baked fish, fried prawn. But they could have changed their decor and ambience. Guess they will surely attract more footfall from these.
On occasion of my brother's Marriage anniversary we went to Moulin Rouge to taste few items in which there were mixed fried rice a prawn makhani and I took for myself a mixed sizzler.
Must try
1)baked fish in white sauce
2)smoked boneless hilsha.
3)mixed fried rice(chicken,egg,prawn)
4)prawn makhani
5)mixed sizzler
6)caramel custard
Moulin Rouge is a restaurant that I have visited since childhood. Its a place oozing old world charm & great continental food. Recently they have gone into Zomato gold & had bad ratings bringing overall score below 4 because of some minor things like a not so clean table cloth, weary looking decor & unclean glasses. These things do matter these days. I can still vouch for the food (prawn cocktail, baked fish) being very good & ambience on the saturday evening being excellent by the brilliant man on the piano. They just need to move on with the times, get a refurbishment, maybe a decor update & they should be back to being one of the best continental places in the city with a rating nearing 4.5.
A place to visit if you want to have prawn cocktail plus get some enriched view of 80s or 90s Kolkata restaurants.
There is a reason why people say 'Old is Gold', no matter how new restaurants pop up in Calcutta, nothing can bit the charm and vibe of the age old restaurants of Park Street. Moulin Rougue is one of such legendary places which is continuing the legacy of Old Calcutta with food, decor, ambience, live music. This place is perfect to spend some quality time over some delicious food and drinks. The tandoor was not working the day we went there so we preferred to stick to continental only. We had Chicken Sciccilan, Baked Fish, Grilled Fish, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Chicken Steak Sizzler along with some Vodka and beer. Every dish was made with utter perfection but the winner was Baked Fish... absolutely melt-in-mouth preparation. Service is good and the price is quite reasonable unlike most of the places of this area.
Went with my wife & sister for an evening dinner. The following are the pros & cons:-
Firstly the Pros:-
1) The ambience is wonderful and unique. The internal architecture, decoratins & paintings shows the early European culture in Bengal.
2) Since during our visit, Hilsa festival was going we ordered for Smoked Hilsa boneless which was simply awesome. I cannot describe how much tasty it was. This was followed by Baked Fish with white sauce which is the signature dish of Moulin Rouge which melted in the mouth.
3) Main course we ordered Mixed sizzler, Prawn Makhani and mixed fried rice. The quantity of fried rice is sufficient for 2 people and was full of chicken & prawn pieces. Prawn Makhani had 6 large pieces of prawn and tasted fantastic. The prawn was well marinated and the gravy too was delicious. To be honest it could have suited more with veg fried rice. The mixed sizzler was too good, contained 1 potch, 1 mutton, 2 prawn, 1 chicken & 1 fish decorated with pasta and French fries.
4) Deserts we ordered Caramel custard which is one of the signature dishes and was tasted awesome.
5) Behaviour of the staffs and the manger is friendly and courteous and guided us in selecting the menu.
6) The cost of the food item very economical compared to other restaurants in park street.
The Cons:-
1) Restaurant is a bar cum Restaurant although it's not a big problem if u dine with your family.
Old school, moderately expensive. Probably a place you'd want to visit with your parents and relatives.
The food is really good and service is 10/10
This is one of the oldest restaurants in Kolkata.
The baked fish is a must have here ♥️
They serve sumptuous quantity and it has just the perfect ambience.
Happy fooding!😋
I just loved the place. The food here is so so yummy and very much budget friendly compared to other park street restaurants. We had sizzler it was perfect and also had chicken shraban off which was creamy, cheesy and just yum. The mixed fried rice was perfectly cooked had so much flavours. The garlic chicken was very tasty and light. Not so spicy but perfect. Just loved it. I go there almost everytime I visit Park Street. Would highly recommend to try once.
The place is good. Food is awesome. One minus point is the administration which forces you to wrap up things by 11 PM but maybe because of the civic admin this is the case but its the next best thing after Ollypub
I don’t really think this place has anything to do with reviews and stars. It is an old place with old ambience and old servers and loyal old customers. I loved the place because of the quality of food and super chilled cheap beer. The place had a warm familiar feeling to it . And I will choose that over gastropubs any day.
This is probably the most old school looking restaurant of Park Street. When I entered I instantly noticed the walls, roof, sofa sittings and a big chandelier hanging in the middle looked so nostalgic. Some people may not like this ambiance but personally I think this is a perfect mood changer to enjoy a bottle of Beer.
Another thing I noticed, all of their staffs are very aged but they were extremely professional. Mr. Albert was assisting our table and I must say he've great personality. Also they were extremely fast and served our order n table within 10 minutes. The restaurant was pretty empty though when we visited. So here's what we had...
Fish Steak Sizzler @ Rs.325 (3.5/5) :
-------------------------------------------------
This item comes in their speciality menu and it was an authentic sizzler. A big patty of fish was given, it was so soft and little pungent in taste. Rice and veggies were only steamed, I would've liked it more if they could sauté it in butter like Peter Cat. French Fries were given in accomplishment. Overall nice smoky dish but not as good as Peter Cat.
Chicken Tetrazzini @ Rs.325 (3.5/5) :
---------------------------------------------------
A cheesy baked dish, baked to brown from top. It was filled with noodles, lot of diced chicken and mushrooms. Usually this dish comes really cheesy but here it was little too dry than my preference. Still it tasted enough good.
Conclusion :
---------------------
You can't compete them with other well known restaurants like Peter Cat. Their food quality falls little behind than them but this place has its own presence.
A really old place . Calm ,peaceful environment ..The staffs even seemed to be quite old there and were extremely courteous . Well coming to the food part ... The price vs quantity ratio wasn't in favour . However the place has a lovely Atmos and good food quality . Nice place to go out with family or friends
I have come here for the 1st time despite being a commoner at Park Street, Kolkata. This is surprisingly good and the service is also up to the standards that I had expected. I seriously recommend the garlic fish here.
The windmill like design is unique among the all restaurants of the food street of the city,Park Street.Get inside and you will be transformed into a different era.Dazzling chandelier, wallpapers with warm colour and live music with saxophone and piano, the vintage charm is present everywhere. The food is tasty and vibrant.Chilli Crab is a must try.Pomfret Sizzler was delicious.Loved the chilli chicken and mutton sheek kabab. We signed off with the sinful strawberry cheesecake. One should visit here to get a glimpse of the European culture of the city once prevalent but now in decay.Moulin Rouge is an one of its kind experience.
The staff was courteous. The fried rice and chilly chicken was good. We ordered chicken cheese kabab which was excellent. The chicken tikka kabab was average, nothing exceptional. The ambience is good. It has high ceilings and ancient decor. It gives the feel that you’re dining in 1990’s. But the food is good and the price is reasonable.
The places is good for hangouts if you have small groups. It is comparatively cheaper than surrounding restaurants and hence come as handy for regulars. If you are not very much into ambience, furniture’s go here have your food and drink. Try Fish Finger here and Nolen Gurer ice cream.
This place has a smell of old Kolkata , visited this restaurant on a birthday Eve and they cooperated like anything . Old paintings , interiors and furnitures , sofa drink , music .... It was a time travel.
Food was good quantity and quality was excellent ordered fried chilli mushroom and two other side dishes of chicken, tests were great.
Staffs are lil old but very co operative.
This place serves amazing food at reasonable price.I've tried their baked fish and mixed fried rice and chilli chicken. Beverages are also good.do try at least once!
This vintage restaurant is located a few minutes walk away from Park Street Metro station, near Park Hotel,I wonder why it took me so long to find this hidden jewel. This place has those high ceilings and antique decor, the cutleries that were provided were antique too. They even had a piano!
We tasted the following items:
Crispy Chicken (I forgot the actual name): As it was in the Chinese section of the menu i assumed it would be tossed in some sauce,I was disappointed, they reassembled "chicken Pakora".(2.5/5)
Chilli chicken:Good old Chilli Chicken(4.5/5)
Mixed Fried Rice:Great quality and quantity.(4.5/5)
Tutti Fruitty:This item comes in small and large portions,we opted for the large portion, and it was amazing.(4.5/5)
What I liked most about this place was their customer service, the staffs were really helpful and polite, which made our experience a great one. Will visit again.
This is a very nice place for all those visiting the Park Street area. The sizzlers are really good, as are the cocktails. Beer is also available on tap. Prices are extremely affordable especially considering the area. The staff is also extremely homely. The outlet though may need to up its game a bit now thanks to the new competition. Its stately, old- world charm needs to be brought to the fore, with a more classical offering.
One of the oldest place in town this is a legendary resto bar
Nothing much has changed over the years be it ambience taste quality and service
Good taste great quality that 2 at great affordable price park street was the go to place in early 90s for all the family dinners and get together even though we now have restaurant all over Kolkata but when in comes to price and quality park st for me is still the area as restaurants serve u great food and drinks in pocket friendly price
Legendary place my love for this place remains the same for years
Loved every moment of my dining experience ! Its a classy restaurant to say the least. The food was quite good and the overall vibes that i got were quite positive (I'm no psychic though).
Seen this place since childhood. I assume this one of the oldest restaurant in parkstreet.
Ambience is okay, service is also ok. But loved the taste and quantity. Full marks to this place. I tried Chicken Fried rice, Chicken in Hot Garlic sauce and Tandoori chicken. Everything was bang on with perfect price, quality and quantity.
A must recommend.
Moulin Rouge is well known for its old world charm .I love their
*Chicken Tetrazzini*
*Stuffed Turkey* with wine ( Christmas Special)
*Chicken Steak*
and Indian dishes and breads.
They have a very cozy seating and soothing music playing in the background. Perfect for a leisurely lunch or dinner.
As always, I'll keep visiting.
We were a group of 5 and visited here for lunch. It was a non peak day and was totally empty except us. The interior is not classy but is like a typical old restaurant which is maintained well. We ordered Murg Tikka, Chicken Cheese Kabab, Murg Tikka Butter Masala, Mutton Rogan Josh, Shrimp Fried Rice, Mix Fried Rice.
Murg Tikka -
Chicken pcs were big and very juicy. It was properly cooked with balanced flavor.
Chicken Cheese Kabab -
Again a properly cooked kabab which was covered with cheese. Combination of cheese and chicken is just amazing. Similar to Murg Tikka but flavor is different due to cheese.
Murg Tikka Butter Masala -
It was the best chicken side dish and we went for a repeat order. Not much spicy but was a kind of Kadhai type Chicken. Chicken pcs were very soft and juicy. Highly recommended dish.
Mutton Rogan Josh -
Mutton pc was mostly the bone and had very less meat. The thickness of the gravy was slightly lesser than that of the chicken dish. Spiciness was OK.
Shrimp Fried Rice -
It was an eye catching dish which was served in a cut pineapple. The rice had pineapples and shrimp along with other contents. It was good.
Mix Fried Rice -
It had peas, beans, carrots, scrambled egg, prawns and chicken. It was very light as the quantity of oil was nominal. Rice was cooked properly and quantity was also good.
Service and ambiance was OK and the staff was good. It is a good budget restaurant offering delicious dishes and quality was also seemed good.
The famous Moulin Rogue where the equally famous song from Parineeta was shot! Up there with the finest dining experiences that Park Street has to offer this venue serves delicious cuisine with an elaborate beverage menu to accompany the food.
Leaving beside the amazing food that Moulin Rouge serves, the jazzy ambience is like a " fat kid in a chocolate cake factory" for all jazz lovers and music lovers alike. The live performances and the old classics would captivate people. On the contrary the food service was average unlike the staff behaviour.
I went there with my friend to have some cheap booze because we were broke. I expected this place to be shady but on the contrary there were quite a few families at the restaurant. The staff was very courteous. There was even a person standing near the washroom to hold the door.
For food we had chicken tikka with vodka sprite and chicken pasta in white sauce. The tikka was very tasty and soft. I will highly recommend this. The pasta was good but would have been better if the vegetables in the pasta were not raw. Around 8pm a pianist starts playing music. The whole experience was quite good. The pocket pinch was around ₹1500.
We went there on ashtami for a late lunch. We ordered mixed fried rice, chilli chicken and chicken tikka butter masala. Along with it draught beer and Pina colada cocktail. The food was tasty. But Pina colada lacked flavour. We were a group of seven and stayed there for quite some time and their hospitality was very nice too.
Food: 4/5
Ambience : 5/5 (worth visiting for their old Calcutta charm)
Staff: 4/5
Value for money: 4/5
Good place to hangout with friends.
Great ambience good staff and good food in the Park Street.
Been there multiple times always feels delighted to be there.
Must visit
What an amazing place to be , with live piano playing , frescos around you , silver glasses go serve water , polite staff . And Food is to go mad about . Being a bong mutton kasa is a household dish . But the Mutton Kasa dry which we tried that was just out of the world . We found it so damn delicious the we Repeat or order . MUTTON KASA AT MOULIN ROUGE IS LOVE
The oldest restaurant alive at Park Street.. This place has its old world charm. This place always attracts me because of its ambiance more than the food. In the weekends they arrange live instrumental band. I love the music while having the dinner here.
One can try the continental food here.
On Saturday evening me and my husband went to Moulin Rouge after shopping at bazar kolkata. The place is very easy to locate and walking distance from park street metro. When we step in from that very moment I am overwhelmed with the interior. I have visited many place but the environment was simply mesmerizing. They have live musician which added a soothing feeling through out the whole time. Now came to the food part. we ordered chicken mushroom soup, mix chow-min, and one sun shine mocktail and one moulin rouge special mocktail. Each and every dish both quality and quantity was very good. I simply love the place and it also pocket friendly. Staffs were well behaved. We want to visit again to try other delicious items from the menu.
The restaurant situated in Park Street area. A small place according to other restaurants of Park Street area. There is no special decoration inside the reataurant. It is simple and sober. We a group of 15 people visited this restauramt for lunch. The staffs are well behaved. We ordered Fried Rice, Chowmein amd Chilli Chicken. Foods are good in tastes. Quantity is huge according to the price. Very much pocket friendly. Good place.
Moulin Rouge is one of the best multi cuisine restaurant in Kolkata. It is a 60s styled bar and the decor is also heritage like.
We tried Chicken Clear Soup and Chicken Noodles and they were quite good. Staffs were very very well behaved. Will be visiting soon again.
Moulin Rouge screams Chicken Sizzler to me!
The prawn cocktail is also really good. Other than that, we tried chicken stroganoff which was good to.
This place basically is old school charm. The ambience is nice and the food is nice and pocket friendly.
it was an absolute surprise to have explored this venue a couple of weeks ago! given the price line the food here is marvellous! :) we ordered some cocktails & steaks for the main course which tasted quite descent! the hospitality is worth appreciating & ambience really good :)
This place is an emotion to me
Food quality:4/5
Food quantity:3/5
Ambiance:4/5
Service:4/5
Price:3/5
Emotion:6/5
➡️➡️Chicken Stroganoff is common continental dish mainly originated from east Russia. Moulin rouge was one of the best continental serving restaurant at park Street area where some of the best city musicians like Carlton sir played. After 1970 this restaurant decreased attention. If you go there the decoration will tell the stories.
➡️➡️British people mainly use cod but here in Bengal bhetki and basa(locally bnash pata) fishes are available white flesh fish so they make the classic with basa
Nostalgic place with British interior, musician playing Piano always turns on your mood.... I visited this place several times with my family since my childhood days.. During 80-90, these places were most happening and famous eateries at park st... Now there is so many eating joints poping uo daily in different parts of kolkata and to catch up these new palces, we couldn't visit this old fav that often.... But memories and taste still lingers in my mind and taste bud.......
Some of My fav dishes like Chicken tetrazini, Chicken Ala kiv, Pure Vekti fish finger and Keema Nan etc...... I always prefered there continetal dishes....
Visited recently after many year on 20th Nov 19.
Ordered few of my old favourite dishes
1. Chicken sweet corn soup (3/5) - chicken PC's were chewy, corn was not that creamy not used actual sweet corn.. Texture was thin...
2. Prawn cocktail (4/5) - Very tasty, full of fresh shrimp... Expected olives in it... Few Prawn were not cleaned properly.
3. Fish finger (4.5/5)- 7 PC's of Finger, use to serve 8 earlier along with french fries and Tarter sauce. Quality of fish is still good but they are going through diet plan, so they have reduced in size ..
4. Keema Nan (2.5/5) - Huge size nan little brushed with butter... Keema was hardly visible or felt, they put masala paste as stuffing.. I did get a little smell of Keema dominated by smell of other spices...
5. Vegetable gratin (3.5 /5)- Good but bachamel sauce lacked salt, expected more cheese in it... And only carrot , peas n beans in vegetable, no exotic veggy like bcorn or mushroom..
Overall experience and food is good... Staffs were very friendly and helpful ...
But I would request the management to look into their cleanliness n maintenance ... All the white Napkin were dirty with spots cutlary and copper glasses had stain in it due to excessive use, Glass plate has cracks...
Last night I went on a date with my fiancee to this place in Park Street and the first thing that came to my mind when I entered the place is vintage.... this is a utter old school place with open music warm cosy ambience well behaved and courteous staffs and the pocket pinch is also reasonable but what I have to say is that the QUANTITY of the food is huge !
We ordered chicken cheese kabeb along with some drinks and then for the main course egg chicken noodles and hot garlic chicken I must say that main course was enough to feed 3 people (Can you Imagine !!!!! )
Do visit the place guys it's worth it 👍👍👍
After having recommendation by a friend I thought to give it a try. Experience was not disappointing at all. We tried chilly fish, mixed rice and hunan chicken. Taste wise all the items were good. Here are some pics of the food and the restaurant as well.
