Beautiful ambience. Not a regular café. It is quite an unconventional place with a different kind of menu card. The desserts, specially the gokul pithe and malpoa are a must try. The mangsher chop, luchi mangsho and porota aloo chechki with tomato achaar are too good.

One of the best places in town, serving authentic Bengali Cuisine.
Must try :
Koraishuti Kochuri with Aloor Dum.
Mangsher Chop.
Rum and Raisin Cake.
And do not miss their tea!
A plate of Koraishuti Kochuri is almost as good as a sumptuous lunch. Yes, the quantity is that good. The cake had a subtle essence of Rum, which made it all the more delish! Overall, this is an amazing place!

If you're looking to chill at a nice small cafe, but also want to eat some proper Bengali food - this is just the place for you.

Set in a cute little bungalow that has been turned into a cafe and byloom store, the vibe of the place is quintessentially Bengali. It is somehow a blend of both modern Calcutta as well as an era gone by. It's cosy, old school and rustic but at the same time done up really well with lots of vibrant colours, great decor and good lighting.

We went there a couple of evenings back when it was pouring like crazy. Thought we would get some coffee and chai which was just what the weather called for. But the menu there took me by complete surprise. While all other cafes in the city are busy spinning circles with avocados and quinoa and what have you, this place is serving up chops, cutlets and rolls - some of the most popular & authentic Calcutta street food dishes. I felt I just HAD to try out something.

We finally zeroed in on the koraishutir kochori and alu dum - little pillowy fried breads stuffed with peas and served with a Bengali style potato curry. It was simple, but absolutely spot on. The kochori in particular was outstanding - not too oily and perfectly filled with a stuffing of spiced peas. So damn good!!!! 🤤

It's easy on the pocket, the servers are quick and polite and the food is delicious. Heading back there very soon to try out their Mochar Chop and Chicken Cutlet. More on that soonly 😊

I Liked everything about this place.I tried COCONUT WATER WITH LIME N HONEY and surely going back for this again.MUTTON CHOP was also very good in both quality and quantity with generous filling of mutton keema.NOLEN GUR CUSTARD was also good in taste but I found custard a little bit hard, may be it was not freshly made but anyhow flavour was good n unique.Ambience is nice, staff is really friendly n polite, prices r inclusive of gst and I spent a good 3 hours alone which proves they never force the customers to leave in a hurry. Also the unique way of ringing the bell n calling the waiters was something I found very special.

Absolute love!

Ambiance: Since it's a 'byloom' canteen, the entrance begins with several display of clothes and goodies.
The main eatery is kept simple with light decor. It's super clean overall.

Food:
• Kalmanjari: It was a wonderful drink made from magoe and mint. Tasted superb, just that the chill was missing.
•Coconut water with lime and honey: Didn't have a coconut water drink as good as this one.
• Mangsher chop: Delicious! Minced mutton balls basically. The perfect balance if garlic gave it an authentic bengali flavor.
• Fish and chips: Bengali version of bhetki fry and alu bhaja. Fish was very fresh and the fries were crispy outside and tender inside.

Service: The staffs were very polite and friendly and helped us order proper portions for us too.

I can go there as many times as I can and would highly recommend this place.

I really liked the clean set up and the staff is extremely polite. Although they have v less options in menu but they have a authentic bengali cuisine and food is really good. All I expect is being such a great place they should definitely consider including more items in their menu. Otherwise i loved the place and the food. It just feels like home out of home.

Tucked inside the Byloom store, away from the hustle n’ bustle of the busy Hindustan Park, Gariahat, this is a hidden gem.
Ambience is that of an old Kolkata house with lofty ceilings and old sash windows painted in white. There’s a small bell on every table to call the waiters. Overall there’s a good attempt to hold on to the old Bengali traditions. There are both options for indoor and outdoor seating arrangements. There is a small artificial stream in the open area.
The tea is to die-for. We were compelled to repeat the order. It’s accompanied with a pair of cookies.
The grilled chicken sandwiches were thick, well grilled with profusely stuffed chicken inside.
If you are a fish lover you must try their fish rolls. But make sure you are starving otherwise the portion of the fish rolls served are a torture to even a Bong stomach😜
Three different types of fishes are rolled together with masala and ground raisins and the outermost coating is crunchy. Though I found it a little sweet because of the raisins (I don’t enjoy sweetness in food) yet I cannot score it lesser than 4/5.
The behavior of the staff is commendable. They were warm, accommodating and the service was pretty quick.
A must-go!

A relatively quiet and cozy little joint that doubles up as an art store and boutique. Situated in Hindustan park a 5-7 minutes walk from Golpark. It's cute and comfortable not just because of the minimalist decor but also because of the transparent roof, the indoor water fountain and friendly staff. The food is mostly Bengali with a few continental dishes thrown in. Service is good, just call in the boys with a ring of the ghanta 😋. Nobody can disturb you from having a peaceful conversation with your friends and enjoy some finger food or maybe you would enjoy a full Bengali style meal. The food was good. We called for luchi - cholar daal and kulfi (I totally forgot that name😅). And the daal was really delicious 😋.

Located in Hindustan Park Area, Byloom Canteen is one of the most beautiful places to hang out with friends. The café is located inside Byloom Boutique.

The interiors are beautifully done with papers, wall hangings, colourful chairs giving it a nice aesthetic touch. They have bells on the table so that one can hear it and take orders or help you as needed.

Now let’s talk about the food:

1)Mutton Chop: Mutton Chop is one of the most popular items Byloom serves. One plate of Mutton Chop consists of 2big pieces of the mutton chop. Mutton Chops are crispy and delicious. You can pair them up with a cup of hot steaming Darjeeling Tea.

Chicken Cutlet: The chicken cutlet had two big pieces of cutlet served on a plate with french fries, kasundi (mustard sauce) and ketchup. Cutlet is a very old and popular snack for Bengali people. It is highly recommended here.

Kanchenjunga Iced Tea: Kanchenjunga Iced tea is very refreshing. It ‘s a mint based lemon iced tea and it’s a must try.

We were craving for some Bengali food when I was reminded of this place. Thanks to Zomato.
Located in Hindustan Park area, this beautiful cafe is inside the Byloom Boutique.

We settled down in a nice seat.
They have bells on the table so that one can hear it and take orders or help you as needed.
The interiors are beaitifully done with papers, wall hangings, colourful chairs giving it a nice aesthetic touch.
We began our meal with Chicken Cutlet and coconut honey drink.
Then had a Steamer chicken and a Bhapa (steamed in mustard) Fish meal for mains and ended the meal with hot Malpoas (Bengali pancakes).

▪Chicken Cutlet-The chicken cutlet had two big pieces of cutlet served on a plate with french fries, kasundi (mustard sauce) and ketchup.Cutlet is a very old and popular snacks for Bengali.Loved the way it was cookef in low oil, less spices yet tasted so good.

▪Steamer Chicken with rice-The quantity of rice in the mini meals is not appreciated. However, the chicken curry tasted out of the world and is recommended. The chicken was flavourful and cooked lightly in Indian spices, prawn paste and Gondhoraj lemon. The best part is the curry has 3 pieces of chicken and also 4-5 pieces whole prawns in it.Recommended.

▪Bhapa machh & Rice-The mustard they used for the steamed fish was bit too pungent and left us teary eyed.Liked the dish but can be better.

▪Coconut water with honey-A very refreshing drink and recommended.

▪Malpoa-A very popular bengali sweet. Also, known as the Bengali Flapjacks. Two comes in a plate.Served hot and fried in ghee.It was a perfect ending to our meal.Recommended.

Our bill was 900/-
Prices are inclusive of GST.
Pocket pinch for two-800 for a good meal.
The ambience is nice and staffs are well mannered.
Service is great.

Another hidden gem opposite to hungry tide. That interesting name " Byloom Canteen" caught my attention so without wasting the weekend we decided to have our lunch here. This is a great place to reconnect with yourself, a small escape from our daily busy life. While the front section has a handloom boutique and the back is revamped to canteen. The canteen has both indoor and outdoor seating, we obviously chose the outdoor. Decor is neat and simple with a glass roof, wooden chairs, a small water fountain at corner, hanging lamps and many art pieces. The tables have brass bells to call the servers . overall a cute concept. The menu contains some Bengali favorites like luchi , Kochi pathar mangso(mutton), cholar daal, koraisutir kochuri(peas kachuri is only available in winter), malpoa, pithe and so on. We called for luchi o mangso which is a traditional 3pcs mutton recipe. All pieces were soft and yum with exact amount of spices. Steam chicken was a unique recipe for me. It was made with prawn paste and 3 large pieces of chicken. Salt was little less but o Lord, what a beautiful dish, u can't really think of less salt. Chicken sandwich was okay. Nothing special. The two beverages were so refreshing specially the coconut water with honey and lime. I never had this kind of blend anywhere. Another remarkable drink was Kalamanjuri which was basically a green mango based refresher. Service was quite fast and polite. But this canteen's pocket pinch is little high as they increased their price than zomato menu price. Nice place to catch up with friends or special ones.

Located at the opposite lane of Hungry Tide, ambiance was beautiful and seating arrangements were not very cozy. They have outdoor and indoor seating arrangements.

Drinks we had kalmanjari which was green mango pulp juice and coconut water with honey lemon, from those two kalmanjari was brilliant.

From nibbles we had chicken sandwich which was good but not great price was very high.

From meals we had Luchi with Mangso which was very good but price were 303+GST which was too much.

Also we had chicken steamer curry and that was bland in taste, rice were cold and chicken had not taste.

Service was fast and good.

First of all, I love the ambience. Visited Calcutta after very long and Bengali food was on the top of my list. This place is the great combination of chill and modern vibes of Calcutta with some really good local delicacies. Where you feel young and unique without losing the cultural touch.
We called for Luchi o mangsho which was a very traditional mutton recipe with bhaturas and boy it was yum. Spicy, lots of black pepper and masalas.
We also tried their Fish n chips and Fish patty. Both were pretty good, personally I didn't find them exceptional.
For desserts we called for their Caramel Custard which was delicious! Great texture with the uniqueness of jaggery, which I loved.
Also, Gokul pithe. With a great flavor of coconut and the perfect amount of sweetness. I was told that I'm lucky to get these dishes as they sell out pretty quick.
I wanted to try n never had before drink too but it wasn't available. Ice tea was okay.
Nice place to relax n enjoy pocket friendly good food and spend hours talking. Also you can do a bit of shopping there.

A couple of my school friends opted for this place for our reunion. While a portion of the ground and first floor houses the celebrated Byloom boutique, the yard on the back has been revamped into this ‘canteen’. My friends wished to have luchi-mangsho and koraishutir kochuri, but the waiter informed that no flour items were available then. Consequently, we had to settle for mangsher [mutton] chop, prawn cutlet and chicken wings. All three of them were good, especially the latter two. For deserts, we wanted to order nolen-gurer custard–a winter speciality, but once again were disappointed due to its unavailability. So this time, we went for Gokulpithe–a Bengali delicacy. It didn’t have the customary kheer[khowa] stuffing; instead it was filled with coconut shavings. However, since it was super-soft none of us complained ;)

A word of advice for the management: for the signage near the main-entrance, mention only the items available in the kitchen; two in the list weren’t there on the day we visited.

Byloom is a store cum cafe with loads of 'bangaliyana'. A true bong would definitely love the ambience. They have a cool collection of cotton sarees, jackets and handbags. We browsed some items and headed for their canteen to try the food.

The canteen has both indoor and outdoor seating. We obviously chose to sat outdoors. The decor is neat, It has a glass roof with vibrantly painted wooden seats, cane chairs, a small water fountain at a corner, hanging lamps, artworks. The tables have brass bells to call the servers. It's a cute concept but ringing the bell too softly doesn't work, whereas ringing it loudly makes other people frown and is quite embarrassing.

The menu is simple and fuss free with some bengali favorites like luchi mangsho, daab paani, pithe, malpoa, cutlets etc.

We ordered the veg porota platter and a caramel custard. Service was slow but servers were extremely polite. The porotta platter had paranthas stuffed with sattu and sweet potatoes. Well cooked, not oily, soft and thin, but needed more filling. It came with a potato curry and tomato achaar. While the potato curry was a tad bland, the tomato achaar more than made up for it! It had tomatoes, green chillis, mustard, fenugreek and curry leaves. The tangy spicy taste went perfectly well with the paranthas. The custard took too long to arrive at our table. Nothing otherworldly but just okay.

Finally, we asked for the bill but it didn't arrive even after 15 minutes, so went up and paid at the counter. Overall, we won't mind paying another visit, preferably on a wintry morning.

Pocket pinch for us-
Porotta platter- INR 150
Caramel custard- INR 65
Taxes- INR 25
TOTAL- INR 240
No service charges.

We ordered the chicken cutlet, darjeeling tea and lemon iced tea. The chicken cutlet was good, though its appearance didn't appeal much at first. The darjeeling tea was okay, while the iced tea was pretty good. But the show stealer was the Coconut Popsicle. It was the perfect dessert for those who might not be interested in overtly sweet delicacies.
Overall it is a decent place to visit. I'm definitely looking forward to visiting it again.

This is a place where you can just sit and go on talking with your friends with nibbles that comes in medium range. Whatever I ordered I was satisfied but only the chicken wings was too spicy(we asked for it but turned out too spicy, our bad). Apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed sitting there with beautiful interior and good service.

Tucked away behind the very popular Byloom boutique, the Canteen has also caught the Bengali fancy. The place is now large and spacious since I last visited them a few years back. The food is ok. Liked the prawn cutlet but although the mansher chop was highly recommended, didn't like it much. You can spend a lazy afternoon with friends or family here which is what we did.
The service is prompt and friendly and they will parcel if you would like to take home some food too.
The ambience is nice and lighted and it's worth a visit once.

Mangsho and Luchi served with a big heart and on a medium budget, oh and you can spend some time and check out some very colorful cityscape postcards at the billing counter.

This small canteen of byloom is a real nice place serving tasty, delicious food at a cheap price. We ordered for fish and chips, one of the famous dishes of this canteen(pieces of fish are served with potato chips) and caramel custard. They have well behaved staff, always there to help you. A happy place with a soothing decor.

Lovely quaint canteen at the Byloom saree store. Superb pit stop for some food and rest in the middle of some hectic shopping. Highly recommend their Darjeeling tea. Mutton chops were pretty awesome too. Mostly Bengali cuisine. Very cozy ambience. Service is warm but slow (the 0.5 less is only because of the slow service - else this place deserves a full 5 star rating).

This place is the Paradise for every Adda-and-Food lover Bengali. This place got some amazing Bangaliana vibes in its store where they sell the products and also the food of the Byloom canteen. One thing that's a must-have for me whenever I visit Byloom is Luchi and Kosha Mangsho, and I die at its taste everytime I have it. You can call this my weakness here. I love its taste. I also love the Koraishutir Kochuri but its supposedly seasonal and its unavailable most of the times. The staff should be more responsive and active. Needs training. Otherwise this place is perfect.

Visited this place few weeks back with my friends. The tea at 60+GST is ordinary. The chili cheese toast was not cheesy enough. But the crispy fish and chips with a tartar dip is 10/10. Flaky fish coated with a cornflakes covering . Best eaten hot. The mutton kosha and luchi were another good combo. While they were one of best luchis I have tried the mutton was soft and made well. They use rewaji meat so it had that distinct smell which I don't like. Not sure if others even get a smell from rewaji meat or it's just my nose. 😐 the iced tea was a regular tasting iced tea.
The staff are very nice. Each table has ghonta to ring for service. They let you seat for a lot of time which really is a plus point.

A casual cafe with very little to offer on the platter. A single page menu boasts of Bengali snacks like cutlets, fish fry, mangshor chop and items like sandwich and wraps. Although the food was good the price was a little on the higher side. The ambience was good with minimal decor and high on impact.

Nice cozy little place tucked away inside the Byloom outlet. I was saree shopping with a few of my friends and did make it a poing to visit the cafe. The decor is impressive considering its carved out of a old south kolkata house.

Ordered a plate of mochar chop, mutton chop and chicket cutlet along with ampora shorbot. Mutton chop had more potato and less of mutton but fried to perfection and crispy. Mochar chop is good for vegetarians and had generous fillings of mocha I must say. The chicken cutlet was served with french fries and was okay. Bill was 600 plus inclusive of GST which I thought was a bit expensive considering I was having chops in air conditioned comfort! Although there were no customers then, the waiting time was less than 15 minutes.

A cafe attached to handloom clothing store - it's not what you will expect, but once you step in, you won't be disappointed. The first thing to notice here is the rustic ambience, with copper glasses and wooden furniture. Plus, as a sucker for natural light, I was drawn to the glass wall that let in so much sunlight! The menu includes everyday bengali dishes, and my friends and I picked what we went in for - luchi and kosha mangsho. Each plate, with four luchis and mutton pieces, was enough for a single glutton like me. The luchis were perfectly puffy, and the mutton dish was beautifully cooked; it's bound to remind a foodie Bangali of the good, soul-satisfying curry that he has grown up devouring. If the service had been slightly faster, the experience would be absolutely perfect.

This quaint place behind the more popular boutique is doing quite a good job at preserving the tradition of bengal. Although a tad bit overpriced, the food takes you to the rural parts where you can taste the 'maati' in the food.. not literally. The luchi and mangsho here was quite mouthwatering as was the fish fry, a nostalgic smell of fried river fish and kashundi, a local mustard sauce . The decor although modern is splashed with little tinkers that reflect the rich artistry of bengal. Kudos to the administration for coming up with the idea. The interior design was done by a well known architect , but the soul of this place is the art that they have housed

The eatery called 'Canteen' sits in the backdrop of glitters of a handloom called 'Byloom', which is in itself a huge crowd puller! But since food interests me most I loved the canteen more maybe :) It has two dining sections and I somehow loved the outdoor seating more which still has glass covering and AC, and there is a lovely small fountain and a hint of greenery at one end that looks so soothing, and helps you settle down real fast. A perfect joint for adda with friends or family if you are near Gariahat or Golpark. Last time we ordered for several plates of their signature 'Luchi o Mangsho' along with glasses of the drink called Kalmanjari. This combination truly constitutes the perfect quintessential Bengali meal if you are not keen to go for something heavier. The perfect Bengali style Mutton curry had thick gravy with perfect balance of spice and flavour. Went so well with the luchi or the Bengali style fried puffed breads! In this combo plate you get four large luchis, they were soft yet crispy outside. I devoured it greedily like no one can see me and I can't see anything or anyone else around me :) it was amazing to taste, and the mutton pieces were pretty juicy and not at all stiff. The drink 'Kalmanjari' was very chilled and refreshing, it had a dash of pudina along with fresh green mango pulp. It tasted close to a typical Aam pora shorbot with a minty twist to it, worth a try, especially if you wanna cool down fast. The service is tad slow but hey, who cares if you are in for an adda session over some awesome food! I will surely keep coming back to this genuinely good eatery that concentrates mainly on the food and aims to give a nice, artsy and relaxed ambiance! Do try them out, you'll surely like this charming place which has a touch of vibrancy and art in every element!

Cheers!

Nothing like an aam pora sherbet on a hot HOT day with classic Bengali food in a cool ambience. Small place but very niche, nice niche. Gets crowded at peak hours but then there are enough distractions in the attached shop - handlooms and handicrafts - to soften the waiting during a rush.

Located inside Byloom, it is a cozy place with good interiors. We order the Mangshor Chop and a Darjeeling tea. The taste was good and so was the portion. I personally liked the space behind the shop that had benches painted of different colour that gave it a somewhat giddy appearance. overall it is a place that you can visit for snacks and refreshments. cheers.

The cafe named Canteen placed at backside of the boutique store byloom is one little cozy joint serving snackies and beverages. A small room with 3-4 tables makes an indoor seating , while the outside seating area at the backyard has a glass ceiling and thankfully air-conditioned. Canteen style pastel painted tables and benches gives a quirky touch.

Ordered one Fish and Chips with cup of hot coffee. The fish and chips was good enough ,nothing to brag much but the coffee at Rs 70 was sad, thin and watery . However i liked the cookies that came along. The prices are quite high for the servings , would certainly like to go back for trying some more stuff.

Pretty good collection of sarees except the conventional ones. Price range is also decent if not cheap. For me the overall shopping experience was great along with the canteen food (luchi aloor dum) (Clothing section) One improvement point would be to appoint more enthusiastic staffs as I found them a little bit apathetic!

I have always loved the food and ambience of The canteen at Byloom... Not only does the place have some of the coolest clothes and sarees and accessories but their canteen is to die for!! Try their mutton chop and fowl cutlet for that typical Kolkata canteen/ cabin fare!!! Or try the more opulent macher kochuri and aloo r dom.... Absolutely delicious!!! And beat the heat with their Sondha monjori.... A delicious concoction of aam porar sorbot!!! Cheers!

Byloom has been a known name for quite a couple of years now. Their sarees and clothing collection is as impeccable as their mangsher chop and other quintessential Bengali food items. Be it macher chop, mochar chop, fish fry smelling like nectar or luchi-mangsho- you get it all here. After having food, one can also take a walk around to see their beautiful collection of sarees, kurtas, stoles, organic cosmetics and collectibles made out of scraps.
