Located near New Alipore Petrol pump this place brings back so many memories. The food served is pure veg and so affordable that even school students can enjoy without worrying about the bill. The food doesn't offer much variety but they are good in their own way. Their pizzas are my absolute favorite. Do try those along with the shakes.
If you are in New Alipore check out this place for some tasty south Indian food.
Today I want into this restaurant and there I ordered pav bhaji, and sada dosa.
It is so tasty, I will must visit again into this restaurant.πππππππππππ
We as a family have been visiting this place for last 15 years or so..located just beside kowloon near prominent new alipore petrol pump...the place is spacious and neat and clean...and there is one particular table which is just beside the road...try that...food is pure veg, south indian dishes are good. A smart place to hv a bite
I just love the south indian food out here - childhood favourite - awesome chutney - quality and taste will good the rest of the talking - so just go and enjoy
Nice place for grabbing quick bites. Courteous staff and pretty good quality of food. Fit for all age group people as they serve all south Indian, continental and north indian. It's both a family place and hangout place with friends. Overall, good experience.
This place is always special to us. Our all-time favorite Chana Bhature & to beat the heat lassi...
Never disappointed π This branch is in new alipore beside Suruchi Sangha. Service and staff both are amazing & Helpful. They have wide range of Dosa & other South Indian food. Must give it a try.
Craving for Doses.. led us to order food online from Super snack bar. We ordered for masala Dosas...Idlis and their famous Special Chutney. Everything was Yumm as always! They have maintained their standards in Taste and a special mention to the packaging ππThe photos say it all...
Super Snack is simply one of the best South Indian Restaurant in Kolkata. Grew from a small place in Taratala to a bigger restaurant in New Alipore, this still can satisfy ones South Indian craving, and how. Would recommend Dosa, Idly and Vada at this place, as they are delicious with the lip-smacking, non-stop servings of Chutney and Sambhar. Other items like Chola Bhatura, Pao-Bhaji and Pizza are good too, but have nothing great about them. You can also order special chutney, which is drier in texture with special tadka - better to order when in group and have ordered few dosas. Also, this place serves Sambhar without Onion & Garlic, which deserves attention from Jain and Satvik food lovers !!
The best South Indian food in Kolkata is served here and there is no doubt in it. I've been visiting this place since it was a small south indian eatery opposite The Kolkata Mint. Basically, i have seen it grow, and how!! I have tried almost all the items on the menu but nothing can ever beat the dosas and also, the sambhar is pure greatness!!
I have recommended this place to many of my friends and they all loved it!!
Went over there with friends and family while it was pouring outside. Had different variants of dosas which incidentally I can have for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also had idlis and vadas. It was seriously great. It's a very clean place and the service is good. The coffee over there is a must try. Ratings on the 5 most important aspects :

Had been there for having a chatpata dish within low price.the place was nice..we ordered
CHEESE MUSHROOM ONION PIZZA.
It was yummy and large in size..one is best for two..nice time.
An authentic vegetarian restaurant. The dosas were quite good and even the Papri Chats .
A good place for the vegetarians at their value for money .
Service could have been better.
It's ok...
A refreshment area amidst the buzz...
Liked the beverages.
The options too are good..
Had an American cheese sandwich with the cold coffee topped with ice cream.
Overall it was a nice experience...
The food is okay but ya except the dosa ..be it masala r sada it's good chola batoora is good too just that they try to create north Indian food in which they fail the hospitality is nice and a good place for brunch
The old SSB was far superior than the new one!Β
However, having said that even though Super Snack Bar is just known for its South Indian, I find it inferior to the taste and quality of Jyoti Vihar and a few others, thus I end up always eating from the mix of dishes they serve apart from South Indian.Β
The must try here include the Chola Bhatura and the pav bhaji.Β
They can work on making the seating arrangement a bit for comfortable!
We frequently go to this place for lunch as its quite near to our place and is fairly reasonable!
The service is nothing extraordinary, but the food is good as compared to what they charge.
Our favourite picks from here are:-
Cheese Masala Dosa
Sambhar Vada
Paper Masala Dosa
Fresh juice
They really make good and fresh juice which one should taste if there!
There is one drawback about this eatery, that they can work a little upon the seating arrangements! The whole seating is very uncomfortable because there are no chairs with back rest.
Overall a nice and casual place for quick food.
Yummilicious south Indian food and North Indian snacks are available here. We had Masala Dosa, Paper Butter Masala Dosa, Idli, Masala Vada and Utthappam. The chutney they served along with it was delicious. The food was very tasty and the service was quite fast.
A South Indian food joint which was better earlier but is still nice. They serve good idlis, vadas, and paper dosas. Even the Pav bhaji and chola bhatura are okay . One can visit this eatery in New Alipore if looking for South Indian food.
Probably one of the best places to have south indian foods. Do not be scared of this "bar" tag people. There is no connection if alcohol to this.. π
Just near New Alipur petrol pump, this place won't disappoint you with the quality of food they serve. π
Yummilicious south Indian food and North Indian snacks are available here. The bar tag should not scare away family as no alcohol is served here. A variety of lip smacking Indian vegetarian snacks are available here. The dosas are accompanied by a range of finger licking chutneys.
This place is my all time favourite. The dosas they serve are just mouth watering. Cheesa dosa has a lot of cheese in it. They give unlimited sambhar and chutney and the taste is superb. Special mention to "special chutney" which has to be ordered separately. Cheese pizza is a must try. Its yum. Cola float is also good. Medu vada is also a must try. Its an old restaurant. The decor is not very lavish. Service is fast. π
P.S The seats are not very comfortable.
Located in alipur. The best thing about the outlet is their service. Extremely prompt ...and always. So a great place to have quick south Indian food. Their sambar is really tasty. They serve a variety of dosas and all are yummy. Idlis, vadas n uoma are yummy too. The pav bhaji is nice but bhatura is very oily.
The ambience is ok...but good place for quick and a reasonable meal.
Only con ...is that the chairs are basically stools and so there is no back rest. Also sofa kind of seats are not that comfortable either. They should work on it.
Do visit and try south indian... Would not recommend other items. Not to forget the coffee. Its good.
spacious seating. convenient parking. delicious fresh veg dishes. refreshing beverages. nice casual hang out destination with friends. usually not very crowded.

Super Snack bar is a no nonsense place. They serve food from the heart. Not everything is grand or perfectly made but then sometimes you do crave that pizza so Indian that it should have its own name. The classics are the dosas, utthapams and the light idlis and vadas. Sometimes you might feel that the normal chutney is stale, just tell them they will be more than happy to change. The special chutney is quite heavy to be taken only when in a big group. The mysore masala, rawa are good to eat. The chola bhatura is huge but just your standard. So is the paw bhaji. But then you get what you pay . Standard dishes at standard prices. This is the sort of place where memories are made. Where small families start their eating out experience till they graduate to the fancier ones. But it will always remain in your heart. Must try is idli and vada.
Though I am not much into vegetarian food, this place offered quite a pleasant experience... Located very close to newalipore petrol pump and can be easily spotted.. Very spacious... We ordered masala dosa, rawa masala dosa and idli.. Food was served without delay... I must say this place offers really good and tasty south Indian dishes.. The chutni, sambar everything was perfect and will sufficiently serve your appetite... Overall a nice and decent place.
Very good family South Indian restaurant. Should not try pizzas as it's very normal otherwise everything is excellent. Should go for some sofa seats instead of casual seating.
Old favourite but food quality drops at times specially on holidays. Service is good. Good options in menu as they have covered almost all popular items of South Indian, North Indian and Italian Fast food cuisines. Pure vegetarian, fast food, snacks cafeteria, juice parlour, pocket friendly makes it more popular among all age groups and foodie.
This place is just near the New Alipore Petrol Pump and its quite easy to find this place. This is a vegetarian place which I dont prefer much but the quality of food is decent and worth the price. The price tag is very reasonable and the taste food will make you happy as well.
Service:
The service is not as fast as you would like. The behaviour of the staffs are decent but they lack proper skills and experience.
Ambience:
=>Pretty Spacious
=>Simple Decor
=>Clean and Tidy
Food:
Its not many a times I went to this place but whenever I went, the experience was decent.
These are the things which I liked:
#Chola Bhatura
#Butter Onion Masala Dosa
#Cheese Pizza
Last Words:
The place is decent to have some snacks and chill with your buddies. Not a great place to have dinner though. If you wanna have some decent veg food with a reasonable price tag, this place is a good option.
3.5/5 for this place.
This is a vegetarian restaurant so if you are a vegetarian especially a south Indian food lover this is your paradise. I go here pretty often.
Very easily identifiable and at a prime spot you get many things here .
I strongly recommend Masala Vada,Dosas and idli here .
Do try their juices !! All of them are good :)
P.s- Do try the Pizza and you will be surprised :)
My favourite is a Hot coffee :)
If you are looking for good south indian food then super snack bar is the best option which offers good quality food at reasonable price. Paper masala dosa and sambar vada is simple awesome. Will not recommend pizza of this place as it is not good at all. You can also have tasty chana batura. Parking is convenient. The only negative about the restrautant is its chairs which is not comfortable for seating.
Been there for 2-3 friends with school buddies.
Located near Suruchi Sangha
Had dosa & chat
Loved the juices
It has a nice ambience .
Good for hsngouts with friends
this is my childhood fav south indian joint.loved almost everything n they r very clean n neat.recomded paper masala dosa, chola batura.n fresh fruit juice.
South Indian options are many. This one is nearest to my place and has good variety too. The coconut chutney here is amazing and I always end up having loads of them. Even paw bhaji and chole bhature are good here. Easy Parking around the restaurant. Avoid during Pujas if not on foot.
Good place with reasonable variety of tummy filling snacks good place to hang out with friends over fruit juices south indian pujabi and Chinese too....
These guys first started out at the junction of Majerhat bridge and then moved to the area next to Kowloon restaurant at the New Alipore petrol pump. They were good back then and they are still so.
Tried their plain dosa, the vadas along with juices and shakes and found that these guys have still got it. The dosa was just lovely as was the vada and the rose milk shake was out of this world. Prices have obviuosly shot up but still well worth the experience.
Cheers,

Having dosas here for a long time..still get that homely feeling..prices are on the higher end though..even the pizza they make here is awesome.Been here with family, friends at different stages in life..Wish it runs for a long time
As good as ever... Consistent taste since decades, though the place needs a little more maintenance and up market upgradation. Dosas / uttapams / idlis / special chutney, each one of it reminds of my childhood.
The first thing that comes to my mind whenever I hear of Super Snack Bar is the huge size of their dosas. It's amazing. Specially the cheese dosa. Also, the chana batora is really good. Didn't visit for quite a long time, hope to be there soon.
The Super Snack Bar Is A Restaurant Near Alipore And Near My Uncle's House Rajiv Chamaria But Our Favorite Foods Were Puri Aloo Dum Paneer Butter Masala Cheese Mushroom Dosa With Idly And Vada. Hmm Yummy. Thank You Dad And Rajiv Chamaria Uncle.
This place is just for the south indian food lovers. I visit here twice or thrice a month. The food is no doubt great. The ambiance and the service is also great.
This place is a South Indian food lovers haven in new alipore...but it has a good stock for " fast food" on the menu backside. Firstly sticking to the usual I ordered a dosa and then since I had space I couldn't resist trying out a cheeseburger. Note : cheeseburgers in india don't always include a beef patty.
This joint was veg and hence I got served what I DIDN'T EXPECT AT ALL. ( The latter order )
I'll tell you why- I had imagined a patty with a cheese.slice and perhaps two buns to protect the bottom.and top but instead they went bonkers with their version. A potato patty with vegetable mush. Between two pav breads. And....and... To my odd delight... Cheese all over my plate. Every visible space had been filled with shaved cheese. It was definitely worth the money if it came to this. I didn't mind at all. Perhaps next year.would bring a few Mates to try this. Overall good clean place... Dazed out servers.... A curious juice stall and amazing sambar.
No matter how many times I have been here I always love this place and love having south indian here. It is simply one stop place for all your snacks cravings. They have several types of dosas and each one is better than the other. The dosas are large and fills up your stomach easily and fast. They serve all sorts of snacks and fast food. Have anything and it sure is going to make your tongue cry for more. I also love their chola bathura which is simply big with too good quantity. I am a die hard fan of south indian and so i love being here always.
The location is also good and it is a huge place which can seat more than a hundred people at one time. I mean to say its a all time running restaurant which keeps on making wonderful dishes. The service is also good, fast and hot always.
Must recommended by me and a must visit for all south indian and snacks lovers.
Near 2 my home...a gud joint 4 south Indian food...ordered masala dosa, chana bhatura and Sada vada...
The place is all jam packed on Sundays and holiday...a gud place 2 grab a quick bite...
If you haven't been to super snacks bar a part of your childhood has been missing. Always crowded. Extremely good quality food same staff I have seen for last 20 years. Too much matter of fact. All the South Indian and North Indian items are good. Even the juices are very authentic with minimum water dilution.
Had been here on a Sunday Afternoon in a group of 10. Good place with furniture like a young hangout place. We ordered south Indian. Dosas, idlis and what not. There dosas were crisp, tasty. Sambhar and chutney tasted authentic south.
I love the dosas of this place mainly because it's made in ghee... Cheese dosa being my favorite... Even their vada tastes good...
Generally I am not a fan of vegetarian food but can make an exception at times for their dosas
Age old south indian favorite for many... new place is spacious... new varieties in d menu....
A primarily South Indian restaurant at the prime location of New Alipore.
It serves various varieties of Dosas and enjoys a good reputation of serving some lip smacking south indian stuff!
Also one surprise item in the menu is- Cola Float! An apt combo of vanilla ice cream & chilled coke!
It fits smoothly into the budget & does not put a hole in the wallet!
A must visit if you are in & around New Alipore :)
South Indian is really good here and serves for good breakfast. I happen to drop in quite regularly here. Only if it can reduce the oil on dosas.
Located near suruchi sangha. This is basically for vegeterian food lovers.South indian dishes ate quite popular ones, hangout place if you are in for evening snack.Average quality food.
HAVE BEEN VISITING THIS PLACE SINCE CHILDHOOD. ORDER ANYTHING AND YOU WONT FEEL DISAPPOINTED WITH IT. THE DOSAS, IDLYS, VADAS, RAWA VADAS ARE WORTH HAVING. THE BEST SAMBHAR AND CHUTNEY I GET TO HAVE IS ONLY HERE. DO TRY OUT THE BURGERS, PIZZAS, PAW BHAJIS AND CHOLE BHATURE OUT HERE.
FOOD- 4/5
AMBIENCE- 4.5/5
QUALITY- 5/5
STAFF- 5/5
PRICE- 4/5
It was quite a frequented spot in the earlier days when it was located near the Majerhat Bridge. The South Indian Dosas is the star dish of this place but the rest of the snacks are also a good try ...
EVERYONE ASSOSIATES SUPER SNACKS BAR WITH SOUTH INDIAN
BUT I VISIT SUPER SNACKS BAR FOR THEIR JUICES AND CHOLA BHATURA
THE PIZZA WAS PREVIOUSLY VERY NICE BUT CURRENTLY IT HAS LOST ITS CHARM
DO TRY THE JUICES AND CHOLA BHATURA WHEN YOU VISIT NEXT TIME
This outlet was previously located near majerhat bridge but later shiftes to its present place i.e. near 3B bus stand, block "M" of new alipore. It has vast layout and floor space with a neat and cozy decor. It can easily accomodate 30-40 person at a time. They serve pure vegeterian food ranging from south indian, north indian, itailan etc. As it is situated at walking distance from my home i often pay a visit to this snack bar. Their offerings are quite good and tasty. Some of my personal favorites and their specialities are- channa batura, pav bhaji, utthapam etc. Their mango shakes during the summer is just unforgettable. During the weekends and specially sunday evening this joint stays completely filled and its hard to find a place to sit even after waiting. So its preferable to come early or do "take aways" during the weekends. Overall its quite a upscale and hygenic destination for the residents of new alipore especially the vegeterians.
Really good food .. chole bhature .. pav bhaaji .. the south indian is also amazzziiinggg .. the special chutney is also very good .. pocket pinch - realllyyy affordable ..
Visited this restaurant on Panchami 2014.. Its huge in terms of area.. We'd ordered dosa and fresh lime soda and the bill was around 200 bucks.. In short, it is affordable.. The service is good.. The ambience is nice.. The location is great as anybody passing new alipore area would notice it.. So, I would give it a 3.5.. :)
One of the first places visited along with family. The Cholle Bhature and Paw Bhaji are just like the stuff at home! Not to mention the sumptuous quantity. They do the Rava dosas right as well. Pizzas might disappoint some, but all in all it's a fine place to spend quality time with family. The service is prompt and they manage the crowd well!
Food is excellent. Pav Bhaji of this place is mind blowing. Also the dosas. The service staff need to be a bit more kinder to the patrons. It is very easy to become arrogant when the place is popular and the food is good, it is a slippery slope. Service staff need to be better.
Also considering the place it should have a washroom. The washroom is outside the premise and not the cleanest.
Overall I will keep coming back due to their wonderful food .
A very authentic place for south indian food. They also serve some north indian items like pav bhaji, chhole bhature. Taste is authentic. Service is prompt. Prices are on the higher side. Very spacious. They have a good juice counter. However, please note that they do not have a washroom in the premises.
Nice big place to spend time with friends and family. Very relaxed atmosphere. Good food. Good service
South Indian food is no doubt great but did not like the cheese they had used on their mix veg pizza.
Moderately priced, but exceptionally good food and service! This restaurant is a must-visit if you appreciate quality without the hefty price tag
Superb place for South Indian food. Yummy for my tummy. South India restaurant also serves North Indian items. Evening time is the best time.
Food was good but when there are so many choices in the menu that should be served rather they should not say that my choice will take time, idli dosa is ready....
Thank authentic food served was really good and with good hygienic conditions all measure have been taken to come along with family and friends nice place to spend time with good entrainment
This SSB used to be near Bidya Bharati School. In the 80's and 90's this used to be the POP TATE (Archies ) of New Alipore. It lost its charm a bit but the food is still good.
Very tasty food options and pocket frndly option in town. Amazing food with very reasonable pricing. Worth the visit βοΈβοΈ
On searching for South Indian cuisine in new Alipore I found this place
Ambience good
Service ,π
Food quality is as good as south India
Quantity is a bit less for the prices
They will give a chutney and sambaar with dosa
I had bhaji dosa which is good
Seating ,tables ,floor clean and tidy
Best snacks ever tried! Evenings with hot here are the best things any type of snack
can experience, once one can visit and get the experience.
