The place is awesome, specially the dining table . No doubt You'll feel a warm touch of coastal flavors in the food. Please try the Tandoori Devil Crab. It's a bliss. Other chicken & mutton dishes are also good. Check with waiters which suits with nun/rice.

I loved the food and the ambience! About the food the most noticeable fact was that each dish carried a signature aroma and taste of its own. I and my hubby have this habit of trying new places to eat but end up disappointed most of the time, since their menu cards carry exotic names with more or less same tasting dishes. What's the use? However Coastal Macha was a surprise.... A few more inventions in the menu and you will be rocking! We will definitely come back for more.

It was one fine day I decided to pay visit to treat my parents for lunch and my mom wanted to break the stereotypes of the generic lunch cuisines that we Bengalis opt for eating out. And it was then I had decided to call Piyush I would be coming to his place. The place caught my attention the moment I entered through the gate.. The laid back cozy decor gives the feel of an elegant beach shack in the middle of the city in southern avenue. We had ordered pepper chicken fry and Rava betki fry for starters, yakhni pulao and mutton ghee roast for main course and tender coconut pudding for dessert. I must say that I enjoyed everything but I would love to give a special mention to the Rava betki fry and mutton ghee roast. The fish was fresh , perfectly cooked and while the mutton can make you go weak in your knees just by it's aroma. Kolkata has always been known for its food and with The Coastal Macha, we have a one of a kind Coastal experience here too. Thank you piyush for this amazing restaurant!! Looking forward to seeing you guys soon

Thank god for the people like the hosts that restaurants serving the Coastal cuisine are coming up. It's pleasantly decorated and the food is absolutely yummy. The mutton pepper fry was just right and the crab sukka curbed our craving for the same. The little chat with owners was the cherry on the cake. I wish them all the very best.

Probably the best place to have south Indian coastal food in Kolkata. From pork vindaloo to potli biryani every thing was so good!

One Last Time For The Coastal Macha ❤️

Ordered from their weekend Parsi Menu and Piyush was quite helpful and agreed to send this to me (33Kms).

1. Chicken Farcha
2. Brown Rice
3. Mutton Dhansak
4. Lagan Nu Custard

The food was amazing and the quantity was well enough for 2 people. The mutton preparation was a bit different and was very light as this was from their Parsi menu. Loved their food.

I wish Piyush Menon all the very best and good luck for his future endeavours. Hope to see you soon in this city with different twist next time once this pandemic gets over!! Will definitely miss The Coastal Macha ❤️😍🥳☺️

The Coastal Macha is a small and fuss free restaurant in the posh locality of Southern Avenue. Although it has the entire clichéd interior associated with coastal cuisine, like vibrant blue colours, sea shells, sand etc etc; all that doesn’t matter since the food stands out undeniably. The food literally performs a song and dance inside the mouth, be it the Prawn sukka or the kothu paratha or mutton pepper fry. You will get all kinds of fish fries in masala or rava fry from the local favourite beckti to mackerel or pomfret and the seafood is exceptionally fresh in taste. And although they do have a small north Indian menu, I would say give it a pass and dive into the sea.

We have been missing our Bangalorean food adventures in the form of ghee roast and sukkas. This place provided the assurance that it's a matter of a click of a button and our South India non-veg will be delivered as per choice. We ordered all the sukkas, ghee roasts, gongura in all the meat combination possible. Fish gongura, crab pulimunchi, prawn sukka, chicken ghee roast and Coorgi pork. With appam and Kerala parotha. The taste was perfect. The coordination from the restaurant was easy. The packaging was safe. All in all a wonderful day of reminiscing Bangalore days

Visited on 24th December previous year, but somehow I was unable to write anything about this amazing place.
A very nice and cozy ambience and a good place to hangout with friends and family.
Coming to the food items that we have ordered:-
1. Stater:- Crispy chilli squid (Highly recommended)
2. Mutton Ghee Roast
3. Chicken Potli Biriyani.
All food items are extremely delicious and finger licking. Quantity is more than enough. Moreover it's a very pocket friendly restaurant.

Arrived at my friend’s place tired and hungry, so I checked Zomato and found famous The Coastal Macha nearby and gave it a try. I loved their menu especially the combination of seafood which makes the place worth a trip. But probably, I have chosen wrong dish to order online. Their signature Tandoori Devilled Crab. One of the classic dishes that never really gets old.  I was super excited for it.

“Coastal Macha” is one-stop destination for all the seafood lovers who want to enjoy amazing seafood experience with flavours from the different coastal regions of India. This sea beach themed restaurant is one of the best places in Kolkata to have coastal food from the regions of Konkan, Malabar and Goa.
Coastal Macha is the best solution to all the seafood lovers in the town who want to enjoy delicious sea food. It serves Kerala, Mangalorian, Konkan and Maharashtrian cuisines. Will you want to have a taste of Goa in the heart of Kolkata? Well, Coastal Macha is the solution to this❤️ Being a seafood lover, I am always on the lookout for good coastal food resturants. This hidden gem place got me interested with its widespread seafood menu from different coastal regions of India, so I dropped in with my friends last week to try their delicacies 😋
📍 Location: -This sea beach themed is located at lanes of Gariahat, towards Hindustan Park. It is a 2 mins walking distance from the Gariahat more.
▶ Ambience/Décor/Service: The ambience of the place is soothing one, and it is a perfect place for friends to hangout and as well as with family. It is a worthy addition in the seafood places which available in the town. Starting from the sea beach themed table decor to the perfect coastal taste of the dishes, this is a seafood haven. I thoroughly enjoyed the coastal themed ambience with hues of blue, earthen sand and white seashells all over. Specifically loved the tabletops filled with sand, shells which gives a beach vibes. You will love this sea beach themed restaurant. The perfect coastal touch is what you get from the place 💕 the service of the place is nice. The staffs are cordial, well behaved and were very helpful while we were deciding what to order ❤
▶ Now coming to real deal which is food and drinks of course. The Key USP of the place is it serves one of the amazing coastal food in the town. So well talking about the food, there were a lot of options and considering the recommendation from friends, I tried the following amazing seafood items from the menu ❤️
❤ Starters 😋
⚜️ Pork pepper fry- This item was just super delicious! This pork item was just amazing, and I had never had an such pork preparation before like this. Absolutely soft meat cooked in a spicy gravy with a variety of spices. I totally loved it.
❤ Main Course🍗
🔸 After having the lip-smacking starter, moving on to the Main Course:
⚜️ Appam- Appams are those flat, white, thin rice breads which are eaten in most parts of southern coastal states in India. 2 per plate but trust me it's quite filling! Best paired with mutton or chicken gravy dish.
⚜️ Egg Appam(Mutta appam)- This item was similar to the normal appams which we ordered. This white rice bread was topped with an egg in the middle which extra add on in this dish.
⚜️ Mutton ghee roast- This is their signature dish of the place and the most popular one. The mutton ghee roast tasted amazing and went well with the appam. The mutton ghee roast does look red but it's not that spicy. It is a must try for all mutton lovers. (Recommended.)
Starting from starter to main course everything tasted perfect. All the items were delicious and too much tasty and they give very quantity. 😋
💰 Pocket pinch: - Pinch for two is ₹ 800 - ₹ 1000 for a great experience.
▶Overall: - Overall, had a great experience and superlative coastal food. This place surely grabs my recommendation when it comes to amazing seafood ❣️ Going back to this amazing place yet soon. To try out the coastal food items 😍 Do pay a visit to this place, you won't regret 💕 Highly recommend this place 👍🏻

So I went there with my family, the four of us as we wanted to try something new and trust me, it was absolutely worth it!
We ordered the following:-

APPAM- a pair of it comes in one plate, it is soft and good for starters. Bland in taste, it goes with almost all the side dishes, spicy or not.

MALABAR PARATHA- not at all a fan of laccha paratha, I absolutely loved it. One is fulfilling enough for a moderate eater, goes best with Ghee Roasted side dishes.

CHICKEN GHEE ROAST- The standing out dish as per the reviews and waiter, I thought it was over-hyped about. An extremely well prepared gravy with the aroma of Ghee, I found the chicken with the typical smell of raw chicken. I and my mother found it, my father and grandmother did not so I guess it is subjective.

PRAWN SUKKHA- Literally an exellent dish, I could have it more and more, went extremely well with the breads. A must try!!

KEEMA POLAU- Another star of the day, literally it can be eaten without any side dish. Also contains a gwnerous amount of minced meat. Lipsmacking.

CHICKEN VINDALOO- A good preparation, spicy and sour because of the vinegar, it will go well with polau or rice.

CRAB MEAT CHETTINAD- So this was the forst time I thought of trying out crab meat and hence quite apprehemsive about it. But, it was one of the best preparartions today, spicy, with generous gravy, if you are going to take crab, definitely take this one!

With a very good quality and amount of food, reasonable price and amiable staffs and service, I would absolutely recommend it!

Visited this place on Saraswati Puja and to our surprise this place was not much crowded even on such an occassion. For starters we ordered Squid Pepper Fry, Prawn Masala Fry and Fish in Dry Wine- everything was amazing and was so fresh. For main Course there were Potli Biryani, Fish Chettinad, Pork Vindaloo, Appam, Malabar Paratha, Mutton Ghee Roast and Hyderabadi Biryani-each and every dish was utterly delicious but the Malabar Paratha and Mutton Ghee Roast was the clear winner, we were literally licking our fingers lol. Quantity is more than enough and the place is very pocket friendly.

Place for sea food and fish lover... Had crab soup and goan butter pepper garlic prawn in starters...prawn was simple and taste. 🦀 soup should have been better(least amount of crab meat). Had smoked chilli and bamboo shoot stir fry crab meat and basa goan curry with plain rice. I just loved that crab, it was spicey and finger licking. Goan curry also quite tasty. Will visit again. But one thing I want to mention, if you aren't a sea food lover, it's not your cup of tea. Bamboo shoot stir fry crab meat🥰, it's really great.

Its a hidden gem in Gariahaat area. We went for a casual dinning but ended up eating 3 starters, 2 main courses and 1 desert (which is very very unusual as per our normal food capacity). When you take the food, you’ll feel how much care they have taken to prepare each of the items. I usually do not appreciate a restaurant so much but I couldn’t find any flaw in their food. Davils crab and ghee roast mutton are must ones there. Hope they continue this great quality at this price.

Bookmarked since more than one year. Stepped into it on 1st January 2020 🎉
Located at Hindustan park and somewhat easy to find out. The decor here is based on coastal livelihoods and beautiful. Has three sections snd Spacious enough.
They gave menu to us, individually. And let you be very clear about something, the prices written on Zomato, are way higher than the real prices. I called the previous day about my bookings and they told that it's a little bit higher written on Zomato. But trust me it was not a little difference. Follow dineout menu to know the actual prices.

Here's what we opted for -

1. Dry wine and chili roast chicken - comes in 10 pieces and lovely! Medium sized chicken pieces tossed in wine and served Dried, with bell pepper and veggies. But an ordinary one to me as I had better than this.

2. Malabar paratha - One large sized paratha served as one portion. A modified version of lachha paratha nothing else I felt. We took two portions of this and very much filling to me.

3. Ghee roast mutton - The Showstopper! Indeed. There's a reason why this is their recommended one. Perfect side with paratha. Comes in 4-5 big and medium mixed pieces. Mutton served with dark brown gravy tossed in pure ghee. But I personally feel they could give less bones with this. Otherwise okay.

4. Green apple mojito - Perfect refresher. Mixture of a bit tangy and sweet. It can also be good with any kind of starter.

Want to visit here again for crab dishes. This day I was so filled up with lots of food. Thankyou for making our very first day special. ❤

If you are looking for some amazing seafood experience with flavours from the coastal regions of India, Coastal Macha should be your stop. Starting from the sea beach themed table decor to the perfect coastal taste of the dishes, this is a seafood haven. On my visit to this hidden gem I got to know that the owner hales from the South and is himself the chef. No wonder the perfect coastal touch is there! I tried a variety of seafoods and enjoyed all the items.
✓Tandoori crab- This is a chef special dish, whereby the crab meat is scooped out, cooked with spices and served on the hard shell. An extremely tasty preparation with the coastal flavours and hint of coriander and lemon.
✓Pork pepper fry- I had never had an Indian pork preparation before this. Absolutely soft meat cooked in a spicy gravy with a variety of spices.
✓Mutton estew- A typical Kerelian stew with 4 prices of mutton in white, sweet cocunut gravy. Best paired with appam!
✓Squid ghee roast- You know how heavenly a dish cooked in ghee would taste right? Squid rings cooked in rich gravy which was delicious. Best paired with the Malabar paratha!
✓Malabar paratha- I assure you, a single paratha is enough to fill you! Soft and crunchy, this paratha is a south special. It's like a lachcha paratha, but much bigger on size.
✓Appam- Appams are flat, white, thin rice breads eaten in most parts of southern coastal states in India. 2 per plate but trust me it's quite filling!

Highly recommend this place. It is quite reasonable when you book through dineout app! The staff is quite well trained and service is very prompt. The food is also served really quick! Overall had a good experience.

I am always on the hunt for good seafood restaurant in the city and I stumble on this place and decided to give it a try by throwing a birthday treat for friends. I had pre booked a table to avoid the weekend crowd. It is just a few metres from Gariahat crossing. When we reached it was pretty empty. The decor was very intelligently done keeping the sea in mind. The ceiling was decorated with fishing traps made with cane. The dining tables were also decorated with sea shells and sand. It was impressive.
We ordered:

☑️ Smoked chili and bamboo shoot stir fry fish - This was quite good in taste. Had good portions of fish prepared in red sauce with bamboo shoot. The fish was well cooked and I liked the taste.

☑️Spicy rum and hoisin stir fry prawn - There were medium sized 10pc of prawn. The gravy was rich in flavour and the taste of rum was identifiable to an extent.

☑️Potli chicken biriyani - This dish was the most talked about in the reviews so decided to give it a try. The biriyani was wrapped in banana leaf when served. The taste was quite good but I would have liked the authentic Kolkata biriyani more. The chicken pieces was of good size.

☑️ Ghee roast mutton - This was another dish that was recommended in the reviews. I must say this dish tasted delicious. It is as exactly as mentioned in the name. The smell of fresh ghee would make your mouth water. Never had this kind of combo before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This dish is highly recommended.

☑️ Chingrir malaikari in gobindabhog risotto - This was another innovative and fabulous dish. It's just like our khichuri with the flavour of chingrir malaikari in it. The flavour and taste was very tempting. It had 2pc of large sized prawn. I loved the dish.

☑️ Appam - It's just like our very own Saruchakli. Soft and light and can be had with any side dish.

☑️ Malabari Paratha - Large sized paratha with nice taste. Looked like laccha paratha. Can be had with any side dish of choice.

☑️Chicken Keema Polau - This was also delicious. Had good amount of chicken and spices. The portion was quite good.

☑️ Crab meat curry - The crab meat was taken out and added to a curry made of coconut and spices. The dish is very overpriced as per the taste and quantity.

☑️ Sea Food Platter - This dish was a disaster. It had separate portions of fish, squid, crab & prawn. None of the portions had any taste. I was very disapointed. Not recommended at all.

☑️Ghee roast mutton with Malabari Paratha - This combo was very satisfying and quite filling..

The only thing that bugged me was that their service being very slow. It took them almost 1.5 hrs to serve which was way too much.

Had a 10/10 meal ordered in from The Coastal Macha! Can't remember the last time I had such fresh, good quality and delicious sea food in Calcutta. The star of the show was the butter garlic squid and the crab ghee roast.

We also had a bunch of veg dishes - alu gobi and veg gassi since my dad is a vegetarian - quite yum though it's not for my meat loving palette :)

The chicken Malabar curry, appams and rice completed the loop of this wonderful meal!!!!

The Coastal Macha serves Goan, Mangalorian, Konkan and Maharashtrian cuisines. We really enjoyed the authentic taste and the ambience was also praiseworthy.
At first we were very sceptical about visiting this place,as we were not sure what to expect.
We were pleasantly surprised.
We ordered-
*Potli Biriyani Chicken (Rs 310) 4/5
*Potli Biriyani Mutton (Rs 340) 4/5
*Ghee Roast with Malabar paratha combo
-Chicken (Rs 260) 5/5
-Mutton (Rs 300) 4.5/5
*Chicken dry wine & chilli roast (Rs 360) 5/5
The ghee roast with malabar paratha was definitely the star dish. And I highly recommend this combo.
Malabar paratha is a layered flaky flat bread that is popular across the whole of south india. it is a variation of the north indian lachha paratha or layered paratha and the Mutton and chicken ghee roast are Mangalorean delicacy, it, is a classic recipe among South Indian non veg dishes. Its origins go back to a small town, Kundapur, close to Mangalore.
The service was very professional and quick.
The place had a coastal themed decoration, with sand and sea shells in each table and a beautiful light installation.
Overall I loved the place and would definitely visit them for the ghee roasts.

Hi every one, while I was thinking about restaurants, the name came to mind for its authenticity and great taste is “The Coastal Macha” in Kolkata. Chef Piyush Menon has opened this restaurant roughly three years ago and within this short time, it has touched the peak of popularity. As the name suggests this one is famous for widespread of coastal and seafood dishes based on Goan, Keralian and other south Indian states’ cuisines, though it also serves a few Bengali delicacies.

Coastal Macha was my most searched restaurant on Zomato because I alwaaaaysss wanted to pay them a visit and finally on MahaSaptami, my friends and I,paid them a visit.
We ordered:
1) Malabar Parantha 5/5
So fulfilling. Moderate eaters will be full after having 1 piece of this bread. People who like eating more might need 2 to fill up their tummy.
2) Chicken Ghee Roast 5/5
Not a fan of mutton that's why ordered chicken ghee roast (boneless). The flavours were just so satisfying for my taste buds that I couldn't help but lick my fingers. A very good dish to have with your Malabar Parantha.
3) Boneless chicken sukka 4/5
Made with great amount of coconut. It was tasty but if you have it after eating chicken ghee roast you'll fail to savour its taste because ghee roast has a stronger taste (and aftertaste). This is entirely my opinion though.
4) Potli biryani 3.5/5
Biryani was undoubtedly tasty with succulent meat but me being biased towards KOLKATA BIRYANI, I could not entirely love the coastal biryani but that doesn't mean it didn't taste great. IT WAS INDEED ANOTHER GUSH OF FLAVOURS😍
5) Tender coconut pudding 5/5
So tasty and soothing after a heavy lunch. It's their signature dessert and I would surely recommend it to you.

Other points:
1. The tables are beautiful. They bring you your own little coast. The ambience was great.
2. The STAFFS WERE SO WELL BEHAVED. THE BEST I HAVE SEEN. They are so calm, happy and smiling. Always ready to serve, always ready to fill our empty glasses. PLEASE DO PAY THEM A VISIT. IT'S WORTH YOUR MONEY💕

Malabar paratha, ghee roast chicken, gassi mutton, Keema polao. Such a diversified menu they have. Super impressed with the menu and the quality of food they serve. Ghee roast chicken or ghee roast mutton is a must try here. Though I feel that the gravy could've been a little more with the chicken pieces but otherwise the parathas were crispy and Keema polao was full of mutton chunks. Had a great experience.

Excellent quality. Soft chicken and mutton, succulent prawns. Authentic preparation. We enjoyed the mocktails- cucumber cooler and kokum sherbat. We had both the Hyderabadi dum biriyani and potli biriyani, latter was better. Appam was OK, the one served at Tamarind is better. Egg Kothu paratha and Malabar partha were very good though. Boneless mutton ghee roast and chicken ghee roast were the stars of the show. Prawn Sukha was a coconut based dry dish which went very well with the breads. We were too full to have any dessert, but would try the coconut pudding next time. Initially thought of nitpicking and found two cons- service was a bit awry- the appam and parathas were not served together with mutton and prawn items and since the gravy items were so delicious we had finished them by the time the breads arrived. Later I thought it was actually our own fault, we could have been a bit patient and it was Puja time and the poor staff were overworked and extremely busy with a sudden rush of guests. Secondly I thought the quantity of food could have been more but Later I thought the bill was only 2K for so many items , hence it was adequate for the price. Keep up the good work.

I was delighted to discover a restaurant that served authentic food from southern states that went beyond the standardised dosa and idly! The chef, who is also the owner, takes a personal interest in the specific needs of customers and that personal touch shows in the preparation of the dishes. I had a conversation with him and was very impressed with how much he knew about all types of other cuisines. We also loved the variety of dishes on the menu- and tried the Goan Pork Vindaloo, the Kerala mutton Ishtew, and the Pork Ghee roast. My mother loved the Malabar parathas. The staff was very polite and accomodating. And best of all, the dishes are very reasonably priced. Sadly we missed the Onam thali which we heard has 15 types of dishes. Hopefully next year!

I visited this place on occasion of a birthday treat. We were pretty late for lunch as we reached there around 4pm. But they were really warm and gracious in their hospitality.
We ordered appam, Malabar paratha, pork vindaloo , chicken ishtew and ghee roast.
I loved the ghee roast as it was very well made. The rich aroma of ghee proved it that they made sure that the dish serves its name well. It was my first time in trying appam and Malabar paratha and I'm a fan now.
I would highly recommend all to visit this place.

The place is a gem and kudos to Piyush for making sure all his guests are comfortable. Had gone there with the entire team of 15 people and we loved every dish served on the table from ghee roast mutton/chicken to Malabar Parathas to appam to the newly introduced biryani.. having stayed in Kerala for 2 years, I was craving for such subtle flavours and am glad I found my place

Coastal macha welcomes you to enjoy delicious sea food with ur own personal beach at your table. I thoroughly enjoyed the coastal themed ambience with hues of blue, earthen sand and white seashells all over.
We went here for lunch on a Sunday and the place was pretty full. Coming to the food, we tried fish gongura fry in starters, coorgi masala mutton and crab meat vindaloo in main course. The starter dish was average (didn't have much of gongura flavour). Coorgi masala was a tangy delicious dish (just the small bits of bones in the mutton were annoying) and even vindaloo dish was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it along with Malabar paratha.
Overall, the food is great but the service and preparation time was too much and can be improved.

I just loved the place! Ambience was super cool and different. Though we didn't ordered sea food because we were in a mood to eat only mutton that day and my parents are not enough experimental about sea food. Ghee roast was something worth mentioning. The Hyderabadi biriyani was light with perfect aroma and the thalaserry biriyani was something very different in taste with nice aroma. If you are in a mood to try spicey yet comfortable food this place is a must go.

One of the well known Seafood specialty restaurants in Gariahat area. Located in the Gali situated between Padda Parer Rannaghar and Senco gold towards Golpark from Gariahat. The facade is not too lavish but the food indeed was. They claim to be specialists in Goan, Kerelan and Maharashtrian cuisine. And having visited these places just a few months ago, I can vouch for them that they are doing absolute justice to their claims. The outside facade gives one the idea that its a seafood restaurant. The decor is minimalistic and the ambience is very good. Their kitchen remains closed from 5-7pm. The place has a seating arrangement for approximately 50-60 people. We had ordered the

•Appam ( ₹ 90, 2 pieces) - it is a type of crispy thin pancake like thing made from Fermented rice batter. Recommended with Ishtew.
•Malabari Parantha ( ₹60) - These paranthas were heavy and tasted very good. Recommended with Ghee Roast.
•Chicken Ishtew ( bone) ( ₹270, 6 pieces) - Cooked in coconut milk this stew along with the Tender meat pieces was heavenly in taste.
•Mangalore Ghee Roast Chicken ( bone, half plate)( ₹ 280, 6 pieces) - The showstopper of the meal. The gravy was tangy and the chicken pieces were soft
•Pork vindaloo ( ₹300) - lesser than usual spicy. Lots of tender pork meat and fat pieces.

The service was prompt. Faster than many other restaurants. Staff friendly and courteous. A very good choice if one craves for South Indian , Goan and Maharashtrian cuisine. Would recommend

This place has been recommended to me and I am happy that I accepted it. The place was easy to find. It's a small place. As you enter, there are two chambers. The one on your left is small, cramped and was pretty noisy during our stay. We insisted on the other chamber, which is much bigger and much more comfortable. The decoration was simply but tasteful. I liked the decoration of sand and shells under the glass in the table. I wish they would use glass plates. The service was polite and was reasonable.

Now, coming to the main interest, the food. We ordered Gangura squid as the starter. The smell of fish was extremely strong in the dish. While the taste was good the smell did put us off. We paired pork vindaloo with appam and Malabar Paratha with Mangalore ghee roast mutton. The pairing, suggested by our steward, was very good. The appam was very good. Both the meat were tender and succulent. The gravies were not unnecessarily modernized and retained the rustic look. While I can't vouch for their authenticity in taste, the appeared authentic and very tasty. The Kokum cooler was a nice drink. The best was the tender coconut pudding. The taste, with chunks of malai, was superb.

We definitely have plans for repeat visits to taste other dishes like potli biryani and bekti polichattu.

Be it a cuisine from Kerala or a cuisine from Goa, either 'a dish from Maharashtra or from Karnataka, "The Coastal Macha" simply nailed it !!!! Keeping the originality intact with some little improvisations give all the top notch preparations a masterclass.

There are so many items to crave for. In fact it would be quite impossible to cover all the signature dishes at one go. So, all folks inclined to gastronomy can pay multiple visits to satisfy their taste buds.

Four of us unanimously ordered the below items:

1. Pork Pepper Fry : Straight outta from Kerala. Perfectly blended with their secret Malabari spices those were super tender pork slices. A must try!!

2. Squid Gongura Fry: A wonder Squid item gifted by Andhra. The mixture and ratio of ingredients were punched to perfection. A Signature dish by TCM.

3. Kerala Dry Roast Chicken: The expertouch of spicy aromatic masala made it exceptional. Thats another class of TCM.

4. Potli Biryani Mutton: Potli Biryani at its level best. The aroma comes out of it would make you more hungry. a spoon full of well cooked Biryani with super juicy yummy mutton pieces would definitely leave a deep never ending impression on you. The presentation was also pretty cool as it was wrapped in banana leaf.

5. Mutton Ghee Roast: One of the legendary main course items offered by them. Seriously a sinful dish from Mangalore roasted in ghee with garlic and masala. Just dont forget it when you enter with main course.

Guys the best part was we ordered so many items yet it dint pinch our pocket. The entire bill was way lesser than what we thought. Am really glad to experience such quality moments with my near and dear ones. a big THUMBS UP to team TCM ...!!!! Cheers..!!!!!!

Note: Just a small token of advice. Their service is a lil bit slow. So, make sure to place orders chronologically and always give a reminder to them to have food in time.

This restaurant was there on my bucket list for a long long time and finally today I made it come true today! This food joint is located between Gariahat and Golpark adjacent to the lane of Reliance Trends.

We had booked a table via dineout and they accepted our booking and reserved a table for us, there was also some offer via dineout which we availed!
The decor of this place was very innovative, going with the name coastal it was designed with various sea shells, fishes, snails etc!

Now coming straight to food firstly in starters we ordered Pork Malabari Pepper Fry, Chicken Kerala Dry Roast, Bhetki Polichattu, Squid Gongura Fry.

Malabari Pork Pepper Fry - it was a spicy preparation of Pork served with certain onions and veggies. It tasted good along with pork liver and was a good preparation. The pork pieces were soft and tender(Recommended)

Chicken Kerala Dry Roast - It was an okayish item where it was made with coconut paste with spicy dry chicken. The chicken pieces were soft but nothing great about the preparation.

Squid Gongura Fry - It was the first time I had squid in my life and it didn't turn out to be bad. The squid was served with fried onions and veggies. The squid was soft and not so chewy!

Bhetki Polichattu - This was a top notch starter item where fresh Bhetki fish was served in a banana leaf just like Bhetki paturi. The fish was extremely soft and fresh and tasted really amazing. It completely melted in the month once you put it in! (Recommended)

Coming to main course we ordered Mutton Potli Biriyani, Chicken Thalassery Biriyani, Mutton Ghee Roast, Vindaloo Pork.

Potli Biriyani - High quality biriyani , roasted and served in a banana leaf and inside was the hidden gem. The taste, aroma, flavour was top notch adding a spicy touch to it. They gave large mutton pieces which was soft and completely melted once it went inside the mouth! (Highly Recommended)

Thalessary Biriyani - Old style biriyani served with egg and four large pieces of chicken. It again had a fantastic taste and aroma, was little more spicy and one of the best biriyani's I had! (Highly Recommended)

Mutton Ghee Roast - This was a royal north Indian item where it was huge pieces of mutton served with a taste of ghee and other spices which added to the taste. A must try item! (Highly Highly Recommended)

Vindaloo Pork - This was another beauty, spicy pieces of pork cooked in various spices from Kerala. The pork was so soft that it vanished within a second inside the mouth! (Highly Highly Recommended)

Lastly we had ordered two deserts, Coconut Cream Pie which wasn't that great though, not so good ending!

Now coming to the worst part was their service which was extremely slow, they took an eternity to serve the last starter and the main course. We had almost completed our biriyani's and then they were bringing the side dishes! They need to really improve on their service. 1 star less for the disastrous service!

I would surely wait for my next visit here again!!

The restaurant is located at the lane next to Reliance trends, between golpark and gariahat. It is easy to find. The staff is cordial, the decor was good and the service prompt.

We ordered Mutton Sukka with Appam , Potli biriyani and Tender Coconut Pudding.

The mutton sukka was amazing and flavourful but it was not very spicy. The Appam was beautiful and thin as it should be. The mutton sukka had 6 small sized pieces of mutton and costed 350 rupees which i felt was a tad bit costly but the taste compensated for it.

The Mutton Potli biriyani had three pieces of mutton and was enough for two if had with some other dish. It was the best biriyani i have had. The spices were so well blended and so flavourful. It was cooked in a banana leaf so the essence of that was there too. This biriyani is HIGHLY recommended.

For dessert we had the tender coconut pudding which was amazing. Their were actual pieces of coconut in there and the quantity was enough for two.

This restaurant deserves 5 stars. All the dishes are recommended. Price for two is 800-1200 depending on what you order.
