This restaurant located in Monoharpukur, I love dosa in this restaurant and also loved coffe, the ambition was good , they served tasty pizza to..
Nothing better in Kolkata
A very good place to have south indian food..We ordered Sambar idli, dhaniya dhosa and al fungi pizza..The pizza was cheesy and very good..we also ordered rosemilk which was good too..A must try..dhosa was good too..reasonable place..ambience is average. A good place to have good and reasonable south indian food..The service was fast too
Ordered parcel from Raj restaurant. It is an old restaurant and very famous for south indian food. Idly, Vada, Dosa were tasty. I would recommend.
Tasted Butter Masala Dosa from Raj for the first time …… as a take away, and was absolutely floored by the tasty Dosa. I also liked their way of packing, which helps in keeping a dosa retain its length and shape for quite some time which is a difficult thing to achieve.Looking forward to ordering other items :)
One of the oldest South Indian restaurants in the city, Raj has been there since forever and is my favourite place to hop into whenever my mom refuses to do her chores and make us dinner. Everything ranging from Masala Dosa, Idly , Pizza are impeccable in taste. The only dish that brought in disappointment with itself is Idly Sizzler which is nothing what they say it is. Apart from that the Napotelia Pizza is one of the best pizzas and would give some good pizza joints a run for it's money. If you are looking to have great food as well as not burn a big hole in the pocket, this is the place to be.
Had dancing coffee here for the first time ever and loved the idea of it. The food tasted okay. The ambience is not very good but the crowd is decent.

I only go for the pizzas here while my family binges on south indian delicacies. The pizzas are too good here... Very economical... Try out the al funghi pizza if u love mushrooms...
One of the oldest South Indian Restaurants of South kolkata and one of my best for south indian food. I am a regular visitor here. Try the south indian meals which they serve at specific timings. Today i visited for breakfast and tried the sizzler idly and it was awesome. Always ask for special chutney with south indian food. The USP of this restaurant is they serve you unlimited coconut chutney and Sambhar ( Jain also available) before your order comes so you dont have to seat idle. Very hygienic and service is very fast. They also have some continental food in their menu which is worth a try.
Raj Restaurant on Manohar Pukur Road is the best south indian food destination in town. Every item has its own original taste value. I have been to this place for more than 100 times but I have been never served stale or cold stuff. Steaming hot Idly and just out of pan Bada always always. The unrestricted serving of thick coconut chutney and hot Sambar is a thing to recognise. The waiter keeps a tab on your chutney and sambar bowl and fills it upto the brim immediately. The size the quality the hospitality the cleanliness every thing reminds you to visit again and again.
Perfect place for a south Indian meal. Serves almost all types of southern foods along with some chats. Ordered masala dosa and two types of chats. Papri chat and aloo tikki chat. The food is very good and the chats were mouth watering. The place is quite hygienic and the staffs were also very nice and attentive. They also have combos with dosa, vada or idly and coffee. The price is also reasonable.
Well decorated restaurant with delicious south Indian food the dosa idli and vadas are very delicious please dont prefer pizza here its like uttpam
One of the best South Indian food I've eaten was at Raj. Really nice and fresh stuff. Authentic and tasty. The Dosas are soft and crispy and the chutney was freshly made and super delicious
My go to restaurant for my morning breakfast. I’m a fan of this place. And I love all the different types of dosa that they make. Whether you visit the restaurant or you order home, you’ll be delightful always to have their food.
If I’m Kolkata someone knows South Indian food like we get in South India then it has to be Raj Restaurant.
I would recommend all to visit the place.
A good restaurant is 1 that maintains it's quality and at the same time finds new ways to keep there customers hooked.
1 such place is raj
I have been visiting this place since I was kid
Loving there idli which Is so soft and yummy
This time around I tried there idly sizzler (newly introduced) it was served on a sizzler plate
5 types of idli were served 2 of each variety
Normal , dhania, beet root, and 1 with there famous molgapudi powder along with salad on the side
The dosa was served crisp and hot
The sambhar is tangy and yummy
And you get unlimited refills
The staff was kind
No ambience as such
Amazing South Indian food!!!!
From dosa to itly to thali to coffee everything is lit 😍
Would recommend- dosa, coffee! The place is simple and good.
This restaurant has a varieties of food items but one thing I try all the time is there does and idli and a chilled lassi at the end if my south indian meal, now a days even when I can't make time to visit the restaurant ; i order the food via zomato it's paklcking and delivery is amazing
I would recommend every to atleast once go there and try their dishes it's totally amazing and worth every penny
The restaurant is mainly located at Manohar Pukur Road. It serves all types of South Indian cuisine. Ordered Chole bhathura and Masala Rava Dosa.. both the food were delicious. The size of dosa and bhathura were one of the largest in Kolkata.
The restaurant is spacious. The stuffs are helpful.
Fast paced, old charm, good South Indian food.
Sambar, Rasam, South Indian filter coffee, Dosa was excellent.
Can improve Thali Vegetarian Options, though it was above average.
Recommended for South Indian Vegetarian Options.
One of the popular restaurant serving south indian cuisine. Raj needs no introduction as it is one of the renowned South Indian restaurant although it offers more than just south India delicacies.
The food is good in taste and service is also good.I can't leave this place without having dancing coffee which is my all-time favorite here. The pizza here are good in taste too.
This place is amazing for someone who loves South Indian dishes. The dosas here were really delicious (though it was quite heavy as well). Even the staffs served us really well and was very friendly with us. Loved it

This restaurant is located in Monohor Pukur Road,Hazra-just in backside of Hazra-Ballygunge,Hazra-Tollygunge Autostand.
Though the restaurant may look like crowdy from outside, but it is actually spacious enough.
They serve South Indian food and we took one sada dosa, one mashala dosa, one plate fried idli and two lassi(salted). Total it took Rs.495.
The service was quick and the staff were good.
Dosa size is one of the largest dosa in the city and they tasty and crispy too. I had tried fried idli for the first time anywhere and it was good.
Only bad thing was the lassi,it was too salted.
U should not order food for home it becomes very messy rather going there and eating is very fun various types of dosa's they even have pizza etc and other things also like Dancing Coffee.
the black plastic container should be changed.
This place is known for its South Indian and it didnt disappoint us. We ordered Thali, Mix Veg Uttapam and Pao Bhaji!
Everything was good. The service was good but waiting time is high in the evening.
Overall a good experience!
Tried their masala dosa, idli and uttapam recently.
Loved all of them.
The sambar and the chutney was mouth wateringly delicious and quite authentic in taste.
A must order for breakfast in office!
#southindianfood #yummydosa
Raj is one of the well known South Indian restaurant in south kolkata.
Masala Dosa or Paper masala dosa is must try.
I have also tried it in home delivery. With the food the packaging of the food and the quantity is also good.
chola was not good as they normally prepare.
The food was really good and the packing was hygienic
Especially enjoyed the pizza here. The best thing about the pizza is that it is made from 100% fresh ingredients and tastes refreshing.
Sometimes the dosa batter here is a little fermented what if you come here early in the morning may be that dosa will be better.
I've also tried the Thali and it is also very delicious especially the Sambhar.
I will be near many many times and would recommend everybody to visit this place
What better way to start your lazy Sunday mornings, than with this special coffee at Hotel Homely Raj or Raj restaurant as it is popularly known in the Locality. Known for it famous dosas and other south Indian delicacies, this place is usually crowded during the breakfast hours.
Considering the sizes of the dosas, i'd say get 1 dosa for two people, if you do not want to start your day with a really heavy stomach. I visited with my family and got the cheese masala dosa, plain masala dosa and the puri. But highlight of the breakfast was this coffe at the end. It is advertised in their indoor screen as "Dancing Coffee" because u can see the swirling milk interact with the dark coffee beneath. But beware, it is twice the normal shot of a coffee. So it is better split between two people. And look out for the milk foam on the top, scoop it up and try to taste with your tongue.
P.S. it was my papa's recommendation. I didn't expect this to be such a good experience.
One of the Best South Indian Restaurant in Kolkata, New Packaging for Home Delivery is very impressive.
good food nicely packed and delivered on time
Yesterday, I ordered tomato utthapam, onion utthapam and vada for home delivery. Though there was a packaging charge of Rs.30, the packaging was excellent. Taste of food was also very good. A little more sambar would have been better, as I really liked it! Surely, I will order again.
Very good taste, hygienic, good service. Numerous times I had ben there. I love the sunday meal. But I can't manage the volume any more so I bring it home. Will go again and again
Brought home delivery via an app delivery service. So I can only comment about the food packaging & quality.
I ordered 2 plates of idli and 1 plate of Sada vada. Each plate has 2 pieces. Each plate was packed wonderfully in a segmented tray with compartments for idli/vada, sambar and white chutney. I was impressed by their packaging.
Coming to the quality, it was top notch. The quantity of each item was also good.
I have been going to this eatery ever since I was little with mom Sakuntala Ray Chaudhuri. The paper masala dosa and filter coffee are our favourites but we have also tried their onion uttapams, cheese sada dosas, idlis and vadas.
The place is always full as their coconut chutney and sambhar is legendary. It's nothing to write home about, just tables and chairs in a big room with bustling servers weaving through them but the food is authentic South Indian.
Only recently did we order in from here and tried out the lemon rice. Fragrant yellow rice was served with pickles and burnt chillies (that's a fab accompaniment) and I personally loved it.
I ordered their Special Curd Rice and now I know why its one of their bestsellers. It was really good to taste, served along with pickle, roasted chillis and a papad. Quantity is sufficient for one person. Pocket friendly prices too.
I have ordered Pav Bhaji. It was awesome. It would have been better if the delivery time would be less.
Quick delivery and wonderful food. Thank you
everything apart from the sambar was perfect
I feel it is one of the best value for money places in town where food is so sumptous, you will definitely be satisfied.A south indian veg thali you order from here is the one you won't be able to finish easily unless on an empty stomach.Won't say prices are too economical but would definitely say that you won't be dissatisfied after a meal here
excellent food, traditional taste, quantity superb. Old is Gold
One of the oldest and best South indian restaurants of kolkata. Been visiting this place since I was a kid :P
The ambience is very old school and the staffs are courteous and friendly. The food ofcourse is authentic South indian style. We had ordered a Sunday special South indian thali, Masala Dosas and a 4 cheese pizza (yes they have options for pizza too). The South indian thali ( recommended) came with an array of different vegetable curries , dal, sambhar, rasam as well as ghee-bhaat, 4 puris and a sweet plus sour curd. In short, do not attempt to finish this thali alone especially if u have a small appetite.
The Dosas were good, a little to sour for my taste but nonetheless good for everyone else. The sambhar and chutney is a one time thing and taking extra is chargeable. The pizza was delicious tho, cheesy and warm and definitely recommended.
Overall a good experience.
food was good. Got it within 40minutes. That is wonderful. Thank you.
I always love the food from Raj Restaurant
This place is really nice to come out with your family! The food is so good. I tried the cheese masala dosa, it was really tasty and the buttermilk too.

very nice food and very nice packing also sufficient quantity....keep it up
food was excellent.
But delivery boy was horrible, he don't know how to talk even..very impolite
Whenever you want to have south indian food, you can always go for Raj Restaurant. Their menu for south indian food is always tempting. All the dosa and idlis and sambar vadas are worth eating. Also pocket friendly.
I wanted to take a moment to express my utmost satisfaction with the dining experience at your restaurant. From the moment I entered, the ambiance was delightful, and the staff exhibited exceptional hospitality.
The menu offered a diverse range of delectable dishes, each surpassing expectations in terms of flavor and presentation. The attention to detail in the culinary creations truly stood out, and it's evident that the chefs take pride in their work.
Moreover, the service was impeccable. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, enhancing the overall dining experience. I felt well taken care of throughout the evening.
I would like to commend the entire team for consistently delivering a memorable and delightful dining experience. It's clear that your commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. I look forward to returning and recommending your establishment to friends and family.
Thank you for a wonderful culinary journey.
This is one of the oldest and premium South Indian restaurant along with accommodation hotel.
If you like South Indian food with authentic Spice and and authentic preparation of South Indian food they are the Pioneer.
Their best in different type of chat and masala Dosa.
Went to this place after ages.
Ambience is poor but food is great.
Mini thalis are a must try.
Soft idlis and crisp wada.
I had the rasam too it was nice hot and spicy.
2 negatives of the place.
Cleanliness needs to improve
And
Soft drink served is fountain which lacks the taste and it hardly has any fizz.
Taste & quality is too good and must try the dancing coffee...
Very loud place - no peace during eating. Only one waiter serving 8 tables - have to wait for his service. Utensils are very dirty with dirt sedimentation. Even after repeated could not give me a clean bowl - check the photo attached
If u love anytype of South Indian... Go for Raj ...specially dhania masala dosa and SambarBada .. Onion uttapam is also too good ..
Lastly Filter Coffee was amazing ..
It's a deluxe South Indian vegetarian restaurant where I visited in order to relish the delicacies that they had to offer. These are the following pros and cons, which I personally experienced at the Raj Restaurant.
Pros :-
1) Centrally located & very close to the Jatin Das Park metro station.
2) Premium quality vegetarian dishes.
3) Pleasant restaurant ambience & fully air conditioned.
4) Widest range of Dosa varieties.
Cons :-
1) Extremely costly, even a basic cup of tea will cost you ₹70 here.
2) Slow customer service.
3) Quantity is too less when compared to the price being charged.
4) Not all the foods on the menu are available all the time.
Recommended only for a premium dining experience. 👍🏻
Located at 10/2, Manoharpukur Road, Kolkata, West Bengal 700026 Raj is a South Indian restaurant. They specialize in South Indian cuisine, but they also provide Chinese, Italian and other food items. Try the masala dosa, cheese dosa, filter coffee, idly, medu vada, sizzler and pizzas. Moderately on the expensive side, average ambience though air conditioned, average staff behaviour are the highlights of this place.
This restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience ! The ambience is inviting, the service is prompt and friendly, and the food is simply exquisite.
Very popular, serves good quality foods. Good ambience. Breakfast and lunch available. Language is barrier between staffs and customers.
They provide very good packaging for parcels. Overall quite satisfactory.
It's an amazing restaurant..loved the ambience..and the food is too good.

Located near Jatin Das Park Metro station Raj homely restaurant is a very warm and cozy place as the name suggests .The building houses 30 rooms .2-3 rooms are single ,rest all double bed ac rooms .They do not have a lift .They are specialist for south indian food .The idly is really soft .We ordered the dhaniya masala dosa and it was delicious .The onion uttapam also tastes good .The special chutney is also tasty .The coffee is wow .The ambience us simple but still you will always find a queue .On Sundays the wait is around 30-40 mins .But it's worth it .
