Back when I was in college, and available funds were limited to only pocket money, Sher-E-Bengal at Gariahat used to be an easy access. The restaurant has become one of the landmarks of the locality, offering a wide assortment of delicious items, both in the Indian and Chinese cuisines.
A pocket friendly eatery with neat & organised interiors, I'd recommend the place for small group of people and friends, or even those occasional family get togethers. Do try out from their choice of Kebabs & Chinese starters.

We've ordered,
Rice Noodles : the quantity is enough for two people. If you want to try the rice noodles for the first time, check this place out. Recommended.
Garlic chicken : Pretty decent in taste.

The craving for rolls or the normal chowmein (Not any posh noodles) is what you are craving for. Bedouin is there to help you. Located in Gariahat this joint is nothing extraordinary. But you are not going to complain about either.

Tried their chef special biryani. It was too good in taste as well as the quantity of the food was enough for 2 people. The staffs are very good too. But the best part of the restaurant according to me is its ambiance. Its just too good.
Good place for a family lunch or dinner. I went their with my family to have a lunch and we ordered mughlai thali. The thali consisted of several items like rumali roti, veg biriyani, chicken reshmi butter masala, chicken lababdar, mutton kasa. The food was excellent at such a cheap rate. The service was very quick. I would recommend it as a perfect place for family outings.

On the day of Mahalaya, we visited here at morning. The place is near gariahat and easy to locate. We ordered Chicken Biriyani, and the portion was quite large. The Biriyani tasted awesome. The staffs were courteous, service was fast. All in all we had a good experience there. Will definitely visit again😊

This time I had mango lemon ripple which was good but after trying this and blue lagoon also I personally loved their Virgin mojito. Then there was reshmi kabab which was also good but their biryani was very satisfying. I ordered 1plate special chicken Biryani and believe me it was enough for two people.

Nice cozy place. Staffs are well behaved, cooperative. Food is good. I tried chicken salsa here for the first time it was really good!! Bengali cuisine is not available at evening or night that's only available for lunch menu!! You can give it it a try!! Nice place.

When my father was admitted to Woodlands hospital for 15 days, I used to attend him twice a day in the visiting hours. In the middle I used to come everyday from Alipore to Gariahut just to have Veg Thali in Bedouin... Its satisfying. Good quantity. Menu was not very innovative but the tastewise its outstanding. Not so glamourous like others but Bedouin'e veg thali has a touch of homemade bangali food. Whenever I'm in Kolkata, I make sure I would visit them once!
Food quality is good at a reasonable price. Decór is simple yet elegant. Service is prompt and the staffs are very much cordial. Moreover,they have good dessert options to try for. Above all, this age-old restaurant is located in a convenient place of Gariahaat more.

This restaurant is located at Gariahat and having a huge sign board displaying its name , its hard for anyone to miss it . The entrance is to the side of the building . And the restaurant is on the 1st floor , so you have to take the stairs . I had never been to this joint before , so I thought it was a big restaurant , since it looked so big from the outside . But I must say when I entered it , I was surprised . It was not much big , with a siting capacity of max 30-35 people .

The décor was very plain , as if there was no décor . White walls , white floors and white celling . The ambience was okayish .

The menu had both indian and chinese dishes , which I feel is a plus . We ordered Tandoori chicken , Chicken special biriyani and Chicken tikka masala . The tandoori chicken was really good . Served with salad and green sauce , it had the perfect amount of smoky flavour . It was well balanced between being burnt and being crisp . The chicken biriyani was okay . It had two pieces of chicken along with one egg and one potato . The rice tasted good and overall it was a generic okay biriyani . The chicken tikka masala was very good . There were 6 big pieces of chicken , and the gravy was much sweet and spicy . It looked oily and it was too oily . It was a very rich dish , which went well with the biriyani . Overall the food tasted good .

The service was good , but I will say that it was a bit too good . I mean we were being visited by the waiters every 5-6 mins . Our glasses of water were getting refilled as soon as we took a sip . This made me a bit awkward . Whenever someone goes to a restaurant , that person wants to eat the food in peace , but the over frequent visit of the waiters was a bit on my face . This was a minus for me . And they also handed ma feedback form after our meal was over . Not many restaurants do this . It felt they gave their customers importance and wanted to know how was our experience . A definite good sign .

This place is quiet unique because its very spacious and has a huge never ending menu. It probably is not the best option as in this price range we have better places but it can indeed be a saviour. Starting from khichuri to chinese you get all options here and so everyone has something to select on. Though I don't feel chinese is a great option here you can definitely try the bengali and Indian section. I am rating 4 stars because of the variety they have in their menu.
I don't know why this place is not as popular as it should be. Maybe it's the unassuming decor but that is perhaps the very reason why I love this place. And of course, their biriyani. It is dirt cheap and comes in huge amounts. I had countless dates in its rows of tables lined up on one side of its space, overlooking Gariahat down below, gorging on the biriyani and sipping on fresh lime soda.
The food were really tasty. We took 2 thalis ( Thali number 1 and Executive Thali). It sum up ₹640 including GST. Good value for money. Both thalis had Biriyani which tasted awesome. There was a fish item which was really better than our expectations. But the gravies were a bit much sweet which may kill your taste. The ambience is ok. A define hand out place for every one with family.
This place is located just a few metres back from gariahat crossing, mainly known for North Indian delicacies. The ambience is good with some private areas. But one thing with the staffs are that they are not at all courteous and not attentive.
Staying away from sometimes make you crave for some homely food and this place didn't let me down. I ordered khichdi, which came packed nicely with aloo chokha and beguni.

Our very own comfort place. Excellent food with soothing ambiance. I love their thalis specially as well as the Chicken Lababdar which is an absolute favorite. In the thali we ordered consisted a bowl of Veg Biriyani, Paneer Butter Masala, 1 pc Chicken kebab, 2 pieces of fish tandoori, One Chicken Bharta and One Mutton Shami Kebab. We also ordered our favorite Chicken Lababdar. Except the Shami kebab (which was a little blunt) all other dishes were just perfect. Will come here soon :)

After a long time had a good decent mughlai cuisine. We ordered Chicken reshmi kabab(starter), tandoori roti and chicken do pyaza for main course. Kebab was served with green chutney and salad which was really good and juicy inside intact with all the marinated flavours. Also the rotis were freshly made and were soft. Lastly the chicken do pyaza was decent not too spicy and not too sweet, went well with the rotis. Overall it was a good experience would love to visit again and if you are fan of mughlai but doesn't want to eat too spicy then it's a must visit for you.
It is a very famous restaurant near Gariahat, South Kolkata and it has good options for Chinese as well as North Indian foods. We have been there so many times that we can't even remember the things I have ordered from here. But all we can say is that Sher e Bengal will never disappoint you in terms of quality and quantity

Old is gold, they say. After having been to this age old eatery, I couldn't agree more. If you are on the lookout for a place which doesn't look and feel much fancy but serves excellent food nevertheless at a reasonable price, this is the place for you.
What we had: Bedouin Special Lababdar Chicken, Butter nun, Chicken tikka Biryani.
Bedouin Special Lababdar Chicken (5/5): This one was pure bliss. I have had chicken Lababdar at a number of places and trust me, the variant they serve at Bedouin is completely different from anything else I have tasted so far. A thick, rich, creamy gravy handsomely topped with cherries, cashews and raisins - It's a treat to your taste buds. The chicken pieces were soft and quantity was reasonable enough. Highly recommend.
Chicken tikka Biryani (3/5): The only thing I didn't like about it was the use of dalda. Taste wise it was definitely above average. Chicken tikka pieces were yummy!
Butter Nun (4.5/5): Soft, fresh and fluffy with decent amount of butter. Went really well with the side dish.
The overall experience was really good. The waiters were courteous and ambience was soothing. Worth a visit folks!
All time favourite place for lunch or dinner. So the food so is the atmosphere you simply cannot go wrong here. Great hospitality, always been a fan of their quantity and quality of their food.

Nice place for good food. I visited on panchami. Had biriyani and paneer masala with friends. the presentation was awesome. but the only drawback was the muffins cake we ordered. good on the outside, but hard and burnt on the inside. everything else was good.

I have always loved restaurants that have retained their old-world charm; and this restaurant has lots of it. Right from the time that you enter this place you will notice the narrow marble staircase reminiscent of old kolkata houses. The interior is devoid of glitsy decor; there is a space where couples can dine in an enclosed balcony kind of space.
Although the interiors are simple, the food at this place more than makes up for it, both in terms of quality and decent quantity. I have dined at this place quite a few times earlier too and it was good. Chinese cuisine, north indian along with their dessert and mocktails are worth having. Some of the stuff that I have previously had and liked were fish fry, tandoori chicken, rice noodles, garlic naan, mutton kosha etc to name a few.
This place is worth going to when you are in and around gariahat and want to quickly satisfy you hunger pangs with some tasty food.

Got the Panchami feast in the most awaited form. We ordered Kochi pathar jhol, mutton Biryani, Chicken chowmin and mixed fried rice,egg masala. All of them were made with care. I loved the way they served. The mixed fried rice was a worth try. You can go for it. The chicken was well cooked, but the capcicum was undercooked. So to get full 5 ,you have to give your best.
Been there a lot of time with family and friends and never got a dishearted. Love food quality and quantity that they serves. The food that I love there is tandoori roti and reshmi butter masala.

This is a very old place with amazing food. Their taste is same as it was years ago. I am totally in love with the place. Pocket pinch is low and food tastes well. So if u are in gariahat area this place is a must visit for heavy lunch and dinner.

Very old and famous family restaurant close to gariahut or basanti devi college. Establishment is old so they do not have extremely polished appearance but they do serve extremely delicious food.Non alcoholic Beverages(Only mockails) and ice creams available .The place is old but every dish they serve is mouthwatering and the provide enough quantity for two people. I am not that crazy for biriyani but I really like their mutton biriyani which is in my view probably the best in kolkata. They also serve a lot of different types of biriyanis which I wish to try in my next visit. The expense is comparatively low to other high end glitzy restaurants. If you really want to fill your tummy with some extremely savory dishes in a good ambience , you must visit bedouin.

This old place does have a charm of its own and is well known among the gariahat regulars. Tried take away from this place. Had tried dine in too some years back. The service of this place is quite fast especially if the orders are among the regulars. For take away had to wait for just 7 mins after ordering. Coming to the food we tried Mutton special biriyani (2pcs mutton, 1 aloo and 1 egg) and Chicken special biriyani (2pcs chicken, 1 aloo, 1 egg). The rice was especially flavourful with the correct amount of spices which gave the dish a light feel and was not over-filling. However the meat pieces were not same in every parcel. One had more or less okay pieces while the other had bony pieces with little meat. The price is decent, not too high but not very low.
Overall this place is more about nostalgia for the gariahat regulars and is worth a try.

Bedouin is an emotion. I've been coming to this place since my childhood. However this monday I ordered tandoori roti with chili chicken. The chili chicken was soo good. I didn't expect this to be that good. The chicken was well marinated and well cooked. The chicken was so soft and the the gravy was lip smacking 🤤. I'm already feeling hungry while writing this review.
We ordered a mango smoothie, a plate of bedouin special mixed fried rice and a plate of dry chili chiken. For fried rice lover ,those two combination was amazing, love it.

This place is absolutely good for day out. They will provide you food at affordable price. However, the quality of food differs. If you are going there in festivals then you can't expect their original quality of food. Other time in year they provide extremely good quality of food. The price range of drinks is high as compared to its food price. The atmosphere is good and they have AC in their restaurant so you don't have to bother with scorching heat in this summer. You can spend roughly 2hours here. Best time to visit this place is launch time the restaurant has less crowd at that time. You can seat beside the window and can enjoy your meal with road view. it is exactly at the opposite side of basanti devi college Gariahat. After finishing your meal you can purchase jewellery, crockery, showpiece. You can get this thing in low price as compared to others market in Gariahat. The behaviour of the staffs in this restaurant is good. This factor make you fee more comfortable with this place. It has bathroom but it is extremely hot inside and it is just okay type of. You may feel uncomfortable while using their bathroom.
I visited yesterday with my friends group..we were 8person..our bill was 4158rs..so approx per head was 520.. And lets come to the food..taste wise all the item was quite good..service was good and the family atmosphere.. But the washroom was not so good.. Please look in this matter..😁
I visited this restaurant after yesterday for a weekend lunch. The food of this place has a special childhood nostalgia as I often came here while shopping in Gariahat and pandal hopping during Durga Pujo. We ordered chicken bharta and keema naans this time. The food was amazing to be honest and very affordable. The naans were soft, stuffed with yummy minced chicken and one of the best I have had in the last few years. The chicken bharta was aromatic, and had decent portion size. I will highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Gariahat or nearby areas.
