Despite the ongoing pandemic situation we wanted to eat out. Avoiding the malls seemed to be a good idea and we chose to dine in at the Aura owing to its good reviews. It was not crowded and we were happy. The food and the staff were awesome. Everybody wore a mask and took utmost care to maintain distance. We ordered simple stuff, but the mutton bhuna was mind-blowing. They mentioned that it comes with only 3 pieces but they gave us 6. More brownie points to them for that. All other items tasted good. Very happy with our experience at the Aura.

The dinner buffet at Aura is priced 840+gst on weekdays.True to say,in this price segment ,one of the best buffets they are providing in town.

What I should really mention is their hospitality.So humble and so generous.The complementary mocktail is to be provided only once by the restuarant.But they provided it thrice on request.Thanks to them for this type of munificence.

Coming to the food,every delicacy tasted so yummy yet gastronomic and appetising.3 veg and 3 nonveg strters give a perfect start.
Though there is no lamb or mutton preparation in the spread,but the savouries are so flavoursome as well as lipsmacking that you are not going to feel any dissatisfaction.
And the desserts,brownies,berry cheesecake,tarts,coffee mousse,rasogolla,pastry,all are equally relishing.

So overall I got a wonderful experience.Aura should be a Must recommended place for buffet-lovers.

It's uncustomary to speak of dessert at the start of a meal, but we can't help ourselves — Tiramisu with vanilla cream is THAT good. It comes served in a glass, with vanilla cream and sprinkled coffee that give a welcome crunch to the silky smooth cream.

Next you try the humble Deep Fried Green Chinese Roll — savoury cubes of silky yet crisp spicy vegetables deep fried till perfection.

Warm up tummies with the Sticky Oyster Chicken with delicious crisp, soft and moist chicken and contrasting thick Oyster sauce — it is impossibly comforting.

Order their signature Asian Chicken Flower Dumpling — melt-in-the-mouth mince chicken slicked in a rich, umami-laden spices and wrapped in fluffy steamed rice flour coating that is present on almost every table.

No East Asian meal is complete without dim sum, so get the Vietnamese Dim Sum (Chicken), which comes with sweet and sour soy sauce dips.

The aromatic, crisp-coated, succulent prawns is deep fried extremely skillfully and if you doused with a umami-rich dipping sauce that you’d want to sparkling all over your mouth when you chew.

The Diced Chicken in Thai Basil Curry is proof that Asian curries are a forte here — the mild flavour, clean-tasting and not overly herbaceous as some Chinese curries can be.

Aura is one of the restaurants of the esteemed Sonnet Hotel based nearby City Center 1, Saltlake – Sector 1. This was my 2nd visit to them over the past few years and I truly enjoyed both these visits!

Since we were pretty hungry, we could not afford a smooth approach to our meal – Soups, followed by starters, followed by main course, side dishes, followed by desserts, mocktails in between ……….. We went for the mains right away!

Ordered the following:-

(i) Amritsari Paneer Makhani - Cottage cheese cubes marinated and cooked in tandoor and simmered in rich tomato gravy, served with a choice of steamed rice – an excellent combo meal!

(ii) Breads basket – variety assorted Indian breads prepared in tandoor - comprising 1 pc each phulka, lachcha paratha, naan and kulcha – all were duly made and went pretty well with the paneer above!

Quantity served is good and we were filled up to the brim after having the above! Quality served is decent, so is food presentation!

They served complimentary papads and onion salads also – a must for an enhanced gastronomic experience!

Service and ambience is fine, although, prices are very high – considering this is a 4-star property!

Located at a stones throw distance from City Center, Salt Lake, Aura can be found at the 1st floor of the four star property, Sonnet.

Aura has always welcomed and hosted 'baro masher tero parbon' and so this time too its all ready to make our December even more better with their quality of food and their service.

We opted for the lunch buffet. The spread was really amazing.

We started off with SPICY LENTIL SOUP and then moved on with some starters like CHEESE and JALAPEÑO NUGGETS, TERIYAKI FISH, PANEER SASHLIK, DRAGON ROLL. After enjoying the amazing starters we tried some maincourses like ROAST TURKEY, MUTTON BIRYANI, SLICE FISH in CHILLY HONEY SAUCE, BRITISH STYLE RED JUS, PUMPKIN CAULIFLOWER CASSEROLES as well as some Chinese and North Indian dishes such as PANEER LAZEEZ, BHARWA MIRCH ka SALAN, DAAL QURESHI, SHANGHAI STYLE ASIAN VEG, VEG PULAO etc... We opted for some desserta like BAKED GAJAR ka HALWA, BROWNIE in CHOCOLATE LAVA, GULKAND MOUSSE, YULE LOG, CHRISTMAS PUDDING etc...

Other than what we had the buffet also has a LIVE COUNTER where you can have your dishes customized for you at your table.

Our experience at Sonnet has always been great and this time too we left with a big smile and a happily filled stomach.

I'd seriously recommend everyone to drop by and enjoy this amazing and filling Buffet with their family and friends!

Aura is a fine dine located near Salt Lake City Centre 1 as a part of The Sonnet- A 4 star property. With soothing ambience and classy décor, this place is a great for dining with your friends and family.

Now coming to the food, the restaurant serves boasts of their multi-cuisine menu, with delectable selection of dishes, all nicely cooked by their talented chefs. This Christmas, they invite everyone on this food journey by presenting a grand buffet with a huge array of dishes.

The meal starts with a refreshing welcome drink, rosemary citrus spitzer, which is basically sweet orange juice with a lemony tangy twist with a refreshing yet subtle rosemary essence.

In soup, they served two different varieties, one a healthy soup the Spicy Lentil and Pumpkin Soup and the other a soupy yet delightful version of Murgh Badami shorba.

Bread Counter consisted with Freshly baked breads to be enjoyed with a hearty bowl of soup. The selection consisted of Lavash, Pita, Baguette Breadsticks and many more.

Continuing with their healthy section of the menu, coming to the salads. The salad selection consisted of Indian lip-smacking chaats such as Aloo Papri Chaat; Sweet and tangy, everyone’s favourite, Waldorf Salad; Spicy Som Tum Salad; Healthy and hearty grilled vegetable salad; My personal favourite Chicken Tikka and Caramelised Onion Salad and the classic Dahi Bhalla.

Appetizers – The Appetizers consisted of a delightful spread of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections such as Peshawari Tandoori Murgh, succulent pieces of chicken with a smoky and spicy taste; Prawn and Olive skewers which is perfect for the chilly winters; Pan-fried Teriyaki; cheese and jalapeno nuggets, dragon roll, Seekh gilafi kebab etc.

Veg selection of main course consisted of Beetroot crêpe in cheese saffron sauce, Pumpkin and Cauliflower casserole, Shanghai style Asian veg; the Non- vegetarian selection consisted of Mutton Biryani and Murgh Tikka Parda Bemisal; Roast chicken in Red wine Jus, Sliced fish tossed on Honey-chilli sauce and the one dish without which any Christmas meal cannot be called complete is Roasted Turkey.

To go along with these main courses, Steamed Rice, Vegetable Pulao and Hong Kong noodles were served.

Dessert spread boasted of Baked Gajar ka Halwa, a must in winter; Brownie in hot chocolate sauce, Gulkand flavoured mousse, Yule log, Christmas special Triffle, Fresh cut fruits and Ice-Cream in a variety of flavours to choose from.

My experience at the Aura-The Sonnet was absolutely amazing and their hospitality and welcoming nature really made my lunch much more memorable and I would definitely recommend all to give them an opportunity to serve you.

Coming to the food, this restaurant serves a wide array of delicious food from different cuisines. This Christmas, the restaurant brought for all its patrons a lavish buffet for both lunch & dinner to take them to a gastronomic tour.

For welcome drink, there was refreshing rosemary citrus spritzer infused with lemon mandarin orange & wonderfully subtle yet fragrant rosemary.

In soup, they served two different varieties with Indian as well as Mediterranean flavours. The hearty, satisfying, nutrition- packed vegan spicy lentil & pumpkin soup prepared in a Mediterranean style will surprise your taste buds in the best way possible. Badami Murgh Shorba is a Hyderabadi recipe rich in flavours & prepared with chicken, cream & almonds.

Bread Counter - Freshly baked breads to go with hot & yummy soups. Baguette, Lavash, Pita bread, Focaccia & many more to choose from.

An elaborate salad & chaat counter will attract everyone's attention. Starting from fresh garden green salad, aloo-papri chaat, spicy three - bean salad, herb grilled vegetable salad, chicken tikka & caramelized onion salad, dahi bhalla to som tum salad, Waldorf salad - each & every item was super delicious & healthy.

Appetizers - An elaborate spread was there for starters. Steamed rice, Vegetable Pulao & Hong Kong noodles were served as staple.

In dessert, they served baked gajar Ka Halwa, brownie in chocolate lava, Gulkand mousse, Christmas pudding, Christmas special Yule log, Christmas triffle & freshly cut fruits & ice creams in various flavours.

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of The Sonnet Hotel situated near Salt Lake CC1.

The ambience is classy and elegant. They have both option of ala carte as well as buffet. We opted for buffet and one ilish dish from their ongoing Ilish festival named Ilish e farmayish.

We ordered Begun diye Ilish er Jhol which was good enough and going well with steam rice. The ilish was fried and not steam cooked. I wi rate 4 out of 5 for this one.

The buffet option is only available during dinner time on all days. The price was about 800 + tax.

The buffet spread includes indian as well as continental dishes. From soup, bread, salad till main course and dessert. Soup includes both veg and Chicken Soup. There are quite varieties of salads as well as gratin. The main course includes moong dal, veg Bengali style sabji, dal makhni, paneer dopyaza, corn palak, noodles, pulao, mustard fish, chicken rezala and Mexican chicken whereas desserts includes tarts, pastries, malpua and lyangcha. The taste of the items in the main course items is average a bit needs some extra touch and care.

The staffs were very courteous . so do not wait more , just go and try their all new menu and if you go with your gang don't forget to try their Moha Bhoj thali which Consists of fried shredded potato,fried hilsa,hilsa in gravy, fried potol,seasonal veg curry , radhaballavi , cholar dal , rice , papad , chutney and bengali sweet. A perfect Thali i must say!!
After all of this ' The Bhat Ghum ' is inevitable of bong people .

One of my favourite restaurants. I love the ambience of this place and frequently come here with my family.

Both, buffet spread and the a la carte options are really awesome. Continental, Chinese and Indian options are available. Each dish seems to be made with a lot of care.

The service is good and the staff is very welcoming. It is very near to City Centre and has ample parking.

I also had my Son's birthday party here with my family and friends. It was loved by all and I would like to thank the management, chef and staff for the success.

We heard very nice words about this restaurant, and our experience also supported it. We went for a buffet. There was large variety of dishes, some are very uncommon, and all are very tasty. Some dishes are really outstanding. Interior decoration is enough good, but very common. Staffs are well mannered, helpful and very professional. There was a mutton starter item, which I liked the most. Overall, a very nice and pleasant experience. Must recommend.

Ambience was brilliant on Valentine's s day here. It looked so romantic...we did try their A La Carte but the buffet looked cool too. I was going for buffet but my friends suggested a la carte. Thumbs up for hospitality.Although I have to deduct 1 point as the food took long to come and I being an ex hotelier know the reason of food delay. The beverages came bang on time and the bartender deserves a salute for the cocktails.Overall a good experience but would love to rate 5 next time...guys please imrove food service time.

The sonnet is a luxurious hotel where you will find nice interiors , soothing ambience. We visited Aura for a tea party few days a back.
We tried the followings:
Veg Burmese rolls- It was so tasty and the stuffings was well spiced.

Coffee with cookies- The cookies were so good; perfect companion for the coffee. They have huge variety in their tea section too.

Veg lollipop- Spicy Vegetable Lollipop is a tasty and delicious way of using vegetables to make a delicious starter.

Gobindabhog arancini with spicy cheese dip- These cheesy deep-fried rice balls are one of the best of the lot.

Herbs and olive foccacia - Focaccia is flat Italian bread usually topped with herbs, seasoned with olive oil and salt.

BBQ chicken calzone- bbq chickens are stuffed in to soft calzone bread.

Gandharaj fish Satay with reduced mustard sauce- Satay is a dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce. They done it with fresh Basa and made it with too perfection.

Thai banana fritters with creamy caramel sauce- Nice dessert at the end of the huge tea party.

Service-Stuffs are so well behaved and they serve the food promptly.

As usual, The Sonnet has more than one (actually three) in-house eateries, Aura is one of those.

Aura is an all day dining multicuisine restaurant located next to the lobby at ground floor. While entering, your breath would be taken away by its splendid ambiance. The interior is cool, calm and spacious with an elite and classy décor. The kitchen here is known to be experimental; Aura serves various tantalizing items but always with a modern twist. It also serves lavish breakfast and dinner buffet everyday along with a specially curated Sunday brunch every week. However, I visited the place to try their High Tea Buffet menu. The menu consisted,

Assorted Soft Drinks

Tea/ Coffee with Cookies : Different flavours of Tea and Coffee with Cookies. I tried the coffee and it was a mesmerizing one.

Veg Burmese Rolls : Regular deep fried spring roll with a spicy paneer filling.

Gobindabhog Arancini with Spicy Cheese Dip : Stuffed rice balls coated with bread crumbs and then deep fried. This made a perfect duo with the dip.

Veg Lollipop : flat candy shaped crispy fried vegetables tossed in sauce mix. One of the best veg lollipop available in the city.

Herbs and Olive Focaccia : A flat oven-baked Italian bread product similar in style and texture to pizza doughs. It was a bit blunt and cold.

BBQ Chicken Calzone : Salted bread dough, folded, baked in an oven and is stuffed with barbecued chicken. Both the bread and chicken tasted great but the stuffing should have been more generous.

Gandharaj Fish Satay with Reduced Mustard Sauce : Seasoned, skewered and grilled fish, served with reduced mustard sauce. The aroma of ‘gondhoraj’ was making it more enrapture. The best of the day.

Thai Banana Fritters with Creamy Caramel Sauce : Batter fried banana served with caramel sauce. A great conclusion to the meal.

Though everything except the Focaccia was cooked till perfection, the Lollipop and Satay deserve a special mention. I could have deducted one point for the food but that managed by the amazing staffs whose impeccable hospitality would definitely make you visit again.

The luxurious Sonnet Hotels have a number of in-house eateries, Aura being one of the best. From the classy interiors to the Delectable food and top-notch service, I loved it all.

Recently I tried out their Heavy high-tea buffet and it included the following:

• Assorted Soft Drinks

• Veg Burmese Roll- Crispy Fried Spring Rolls with a Spicy Paneer Filling. They taste quite good.

• Veg Lollipop- Soft Veg Lollipops stirred in a tangy spicy sauce. Loved the Oriental hint in the taste.

• Gobindobhog Arincini with Spicy Cheese Dip

• Herbs and Olive Foccacia- They were a bit soggy and cold.

• BBQ Chicken Calzone- I loved the bread of the calzone.

• Gandharaj Fish Satay with reduced Mustard Sauce- This was my favorite of the lot. The fish was fresh and I loved the hint of Gondhoraaj lemon in it.

• Thai Banana Fritters with Creamy Caramel Sauce- I simply loved the creamy Caramel Sauce.

• Tea and Coffee with Cookies

Luckily I also had the opportunity to take part in their Cake Mixing Ceremony.
Overall it was a lovely experience and I would definitely visit again.

As Christmas is knocking at our door, every year we used to celebrate with different types of cake. Without fruit cake Christmas is incomplete. Yesterday I was at Sonnet for their cake mixing event. Every year I used to celebrate by eating fruit cake, but this time it was bit different for me.
I had a great time there..All went well and after that we tried their hi-tea buffet menu..

The Sonnet is one of the renowned places of Calcutta which everyone knows and loves. I have recently had the chance to visit one of their famous restaurant Aura, to experience their high tea menu. This was my first visit to The Sonnet and I was mesmerized, Mesmerized with the interiors, the ambience, the decor and most of all the hospitality of them. The staff and the chef all were very jolly and helpful. I loved my experience a lot.
The High Tea menu at Aura consisted of various snacks and Tea/Coffee along with assorted cookies.
The food items that were presented on the High Tea menu are-

●Gobindabhog Arancini with Spicy Cheese Dip.
●Herbs and Olive Foccacia

I started my brunch with a hot cup of coffee and assorted cookies. The staff served us some delectable coffee and it was very amazing. Out of all the food, I really liked the Gandharaj Fish Satay. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The calzone was great too but I wished it had a little more of chicken stuffing in it. Veg Lollipop also tasted good which was served hot. We also had soft drinks to gulp down all of the food.

The dessert in the high menu consisted of-

This was my favourite part of the food. These tasted so good along with the caramel sauce. I definitely loved it.
All in all my experience at The Sonnet was mindblowing. I am definitely returning for some more.

The place is almost adjacent to City Centre Salt Lake and you'll be greeted warmly upon entering.
We attended a High-Tea buffet which had a wide range of finger food, accompanied by tea/coffee and obviously cookies.

The staff was also polite and tended to all our needs.

Yesterday I visited this place and tried their Hi-tea buffet. This place is all day multi cuisine restaurant of the 4 star hotel The Sonnet which is located near City Centre, Salt lake. Aura is the all day dining restaurant of this hotel, and it offers Indian, Continental and Asian Cousins.
The ambiance it was really nice and the decor is elegant. The seating arrangement was really good and comfortable. They have valet parking available and the staff is very welcoming and polite.

All of them were really tasty the bbq chicken calzone was perfectly baked and had generous amount of chicken as a stuffing and it tasted good. the gandharaj fish Satay was well fried and the fish was soft it was served with reduced mustard sauce as a dip. Thai banana fritters with creamy caramel sauce was really an amazing dessert it was not very sweet it was just perfect.

Lastly the Tea, I had tea with mild and it was served with cookies on the side, the cookies were really amazing to taste.

The food was ahhhhmazing. The interiors are quite basic but the staff was really good. Food is a tad expensive but it’s good stuff. My favorite dish was the melting chocolate mud pie!! it was delicious. We had a variety of kebabs, maahi tikka, jhinga khus khus, murgh tikka hari mirch. Take your pick because they were all nice. The bengali food here is lip smacking. The staff behaviour was pretty decent. Would definitely recommened this place

Aura is the all-day multicuisine restaurant of the 4-star hotel The Sonnet, located just a few walks away from City Centre 1, diagonally opposite the other star hotel De Sovrani. The restaurant's easy to locate as it's situated just on the left of the lobby as soon as one enters.

The interior is wide and spacious, elegantly decked with Durga busts at the buffet spread, winnows hanging from the ceiling, traditional Bengali knick-nacks etc. on the occasion of Durga Puja.
A thing worth mentioning is the beautiful collection of Rabindrasangeet that were being played in the background, aptly suited for the Bengali festival, and being an ardent Tagore fan I was mesmerised by the tranquil ambiance.

Hospitality is one thing that the place excels at; the staff (all dressed in traditional attire for the Puja) were polite and courteous, and warmly welcoming and thankful wishing "Subho Sharodiya" with a namaste gesture each time a guest entered or left the restaurant.

Coming to the food, we ordered three Niramish Bangali Thali for our lunch on Shashthi from the à la carte menu.

While waiting for the food to arrive (service of food was slow) we were served complimentary Papdi Chaat, which were okayish to nibble on before the main course.

Each individual thali consisted of a mound of Pulao, and little steel bowls of Dal, Jhuri Aloo Bhaja, Jhinge Aloo Posto, Dhokar Dalna, Chhanar Dalna, Amsotto Khejur Chutney and a Rosogolla, with three soft and puffy Luchi in a separate basket, included in the Thali.
All the items were well-cooked and top-notch delicious, neither too spicy nor too bland.
The rosogolla was just perfect, not too syrupy but the right amount of sweet indulgence.
The julienne of potato was crispy and crunchy; the gravies of the veg delicacies were temptingly exquisite.

The prices of food at Aura are comparatively cheaper than restaurants of other star properties.
The place is a wonderful option to lunch or dine out with family, friends or colleagues, not just on Durga Puja but any time of the year, either on the buffet or à la carte fare.
Taste of food is way better than in many reputed eateries. A must visit if one loves to eat and try out new dishes.

Aura is an authentic buffet restaurant which serves 100% tasty and delicious dishes .The place is very highly maintained here.Best quality of food served here .Price is little high according to quantity of the food.We tried pasta ,chicken roast, lemon soda , and ..which roundly cost bit high...which all are tastes awesome 😋😋 the #starterkabab ( resmi chicken kabab) and #chowmin was just finger licking good .then comes the dessert 🤩 and chocolate , sondesh, butterscotch scoop was just mouthwatering 👌staff behaviour was nice and polite .Overall if you love hangout 💙 you must give a visit to this place.The interior decoration and romantic music is just superb.
