Its an awsome experience starting from the decor, music, food and hospitality everything is awsome. If you want to try out authentic nepali and tibetian cuisine you are at the right page... a must try is golden fried prawns, shyapta & rum chicken. You also get amazing open momos for the momo lovers of all time..
Good food. Great variety in the items offered. Pleasing ambience.Courteous staff.
This place is must try for all you foodies out there.
The only place to try out authentic Nepali food in town..
My home away from Kathmandu <3 Nostalgic food, plates, music and warm people.
If you want to have authentic Nepali food, this is the place to visit. Loved the pork thali. :)
Gave the homely feeling and the taste of food was amazing.

i miss nepali food specially aloodum and selroti want to visit soon
This was in my wishlist since a long time. Finally visited this place on a Thursday evening during this new normal. Ordered chicken wings, chicken steak Momo and cold drink. The food was worth the price. They’re following proper safety protocols. The place is well maintained, decorated and I loved the ambience. The staff were really courteous. I loved the chicken wings. Momo tasted average. But yes, one star less for the late service.
I’ll definitely recommend this place.
Finally I got to visit this place after month's of gettinging disappointed because of lockdown.
We walked in today a lovely, calm atmosphere and beautifully decorated seating spaces. It has both a dining place and a more relaxed seating area where you can just fold your legs and soak in the culture in all its glory... Which we prefered.
We ordered the aloo cheese momo, the chicken thupka and chicken shapta. The thupka was well made with the noodles and good chunks of chicken. The shapta was little spicy with chunks of dry chunks of chicken in a hot sauce. It had other veggies too but a very different sort of bharta but north-eastern style. But, my favourite was the aloo cheese momo, which I will say is a must. The right amount of cheese and potatoes mixed together in the dough was a treat. It was a little spicy too but not much for people who can tolerate heat. The chutney they provide though is extremely hot and if you cannot tolerate some... DO NOT TRY!
Overall our bill came to 750/- for two but the Zomato Pro membership didn't work as they've kept it off for a while.
An easy recommendation. Definitely returning again... Not only for the food but the ambiance as well.
A brilliant place to eat the authentic Nepali Dishes with family, friends and colleagues. Brilliant atmosphere. The ambience is really very nice. The maintainance is also very good. A real foodie must try out this place.

We ordered noodles and babycorn chicken, taste was just amazing.. means if you want to have some amazing Chinese dish this is the best. Corn chicken combination was amazing. It had a bit tangy flavour. With noodles it was just an amazing combo. I like it and will surely recommend to others.
A great ambience with a very great food experience. A must visit for the Chinese cuisine lovers! Friends and family, both can be accommodated.
Kolkata's first Nepali eatery- The Blue Poppy- Thakali, serving authentic dishes by recreating the comfort and warmth of home in the restaurant sitting arrangements and makes sure to bring the flavour of hills in your plate! Their service is also very good apart from the food and unique ambiance. You will surely love it. Amongst the three, i loved Spicy chilli garlic friedrice also known as devil friedrice 😈 Chicken sapta takes the second place! If you ever visit them, don't forget to try their momos
Delicious authentic chinese cuisine. The chili pork war awesome🤤🤤 the schezwan pork momo was mouthwatering 🤤🤤 and the mixed rice noodles was delicious 🤤🤤 a very good experience indeed.
There are slight similarities between nepali and Chinese cuisine.. blue poppy matched it in a great way.. all the dishes were amazing with affordable ranges.. we've ordered their special (1)Pan Fried Pork Momos in Hot Garlic Sauce.. (2)dry chilli pork
(3) mix hakka chow.. every dish had their perfect consistency and they were perfectly cooked.. and tasted really amazing.. we've been there for many times.. this is our top listed place in town.. Ambience is not so fancy like it's interior is not that great.. cause it's more like a canteen.. the staffs were really courteous....!! I'll rate their ambience- 4/5
And I'll rate their dishes 4.9/5
Awesome service, really good people. They made a mistake with my order but upon complaining they not only resent the order to me but gave me a complimentary dish which was more than the price of the dish I ordered. Along with that they also sent a complimentary momo pie. This entire thing was dealt very kindly and tactfully by their staff. Thank you Blue Poppy, keep up this credibility. Would recommend 💯 to everyone!
Today I ordered takeaway from blue poppy and when I reached home I noticed that one item was missing. I called the restaurant and they told me that they would send it if I could place a very small order at swiggy or Zomato. When I received the missing item, along with it I received a complimentary chilli garlic noodles which we spoke about earlier and on top of that I received an extra momo pie which was very tasty. The restaurant also told the delivery person to apologise to me once again. There are very few restaurants like this which have such amazing service. Mistakes can be made by anybody but the way they compensated for it is truly amazing. And if you ask anybody the best momo place in Kolkata is Blue Poppy. Amazing food and amazing people- very tough combination. Hats off👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One of my favourite place ❤ Just love their open pork momos.
I have visited this place two to three times, the place is very cool and calm, I really like the ambience, we have ordered momos and it was delicious. They have different kinds of items, and the prices are reasonable.
Blue poppy is a well renowed name when it comes to serving authentic nepali and tibetan dishes.
The music and ambience of the place is very sober and goes well with the food on offer.
•The best thing about the place is their open momos which are petal shaped and goes really well with the sesame achaar on offer.
The veggies and the chicken stuffing is cooked to perfection and literally melts in the mouth.
•We ended up ordering chicken steamed momos and chicken fried momos which came in a platter of ten pieces each and i personally relished devouring the momos as it had a very similar taste to the fried momos in offer in Darjeeling.
Another remarkable dish we ordered was the chicken wings on offer.
The honey chilly barbeque sauce was enhancing the flavour of the chicken wings and was unlike anything else we had tested before and it is a must try for everyone visiting this outlest.
Another noteable side dishes on offer were chilly chicken and rum chicken.
The only downgrading part at the restaurant was the fried rice which is a soul of any indo-chinese restaurant was a huge let down and leaves a lot to be desired.
The staff at the restaurant were very courteous and the service was decent.
On a whole it is recommended for everyone looking to shell out money for a memorable evening.
I love love love this place ... It's sad I have visited here only once till now... I'll definitely visit again soon... Love their pan fried noodles and chilli pork ... It was enough for 2 ... I'll highly recommend this place ♥️
Hey if you are a north-east food lover, then this place is for you. I loved the ambience it's beautiful, sorry could not attach any pic of the ambience as I was busy enjoying the moment rather than clicking pictures... This place is cheap and best for its drooling delicious mountain dish.
Very soothing ambience for the people who likes calm surrounding while eating. Service is really good and in time. Food quantity compared to price is okay. If you want authenticity in the cuisine then you can visit this Nepalese restaurant. Pork lover must go.
My favourite place to crash when I get momo cravings.❤️ and the waiwai soup is a staple

Was there with my friends for lunch a few months ago, and I must say it was a wonderful experience.. The ambience, the food, the hospitality everything was top notch. I would love to revisit this place soon❤ Items I tried:
•Chicken Open Momos ❤(highly recommended)
•Devil Fried Rice
•Mongolian Pork (hugely recommended)
•Rum Chicken
•Stir Fried Chicken Flat Noodles (recommended)
This restaurant was in my wish list since a long time so I and my friend had gathered together over over a lunch and to my surprise it was amazing we had tried for a momos fried rice and both were very nice the quantity the quality as well as the pricing was balancing I would highly recommend this place and ask everyone of you to visit this place at least once
The place is situated right at the heart of Camac Street. I was awestruck by the ambience of the place and it's decor and seating. Furthermore, the food was quite mouth watering by its look and it was quite cost effective. Pork is something which should be tried at this place. And it's a must. For all Chinese and Tibetan cuisine lovers this is a must try.
Extremely wholesome - the food. The open momos are soft and tasty with ample filling, but they are tiny in size ; so either way you crave more. The condiments are spicy and adds a nice zest. The kimchi fried rice was lovely too, albeit a little tangy in case you aren't prepared. The thing about this place is that it's more than just about the cuisine. The ambience is lovely. You get to sit on the chatai on the floor and the lighting is warm so you feel immediately lulled to a sense of comfort. Will come back for more.
Place : the blue poppy thakali
In frame : lemongrass mojito
Chicken kothy
Devils rice
Chili pork
Each dish is just extraordinary and carefully hygienically well prepared which is the most needed point in these time for such Nepalese and Chinese cuisine. Taste is just beyond expectation.
Ambience just perfect. They have both table chair and on floor (the authentic one). Highly recommended.
Blue Poppy is a Nepalese restaurant located near Maidan Metro. The music and ambiance is also according to their Nepalese theme. The staffs were courteous.
Items we tried :
1. Open Momos, these are petal shapes momos that are really soft and tastes great with sesame achaar.
Rating - 4.8/5 (Highly Recommended)
2. Devil's Fried Rice with Chicken Salt and Pepper. The combination tasted mouthwatering. The fried rice is very rich and tastes different from regular one. I found the Chicken Salt n Pepper a little more spicy.
Rating - 4.2/5.
Overall we had a lovely experience and would highly recommend their momos.
The service was also very fast and well behaved. Happy us😊
Calcutta's first Nepali eatery and one of the best restaurant for authentic Tibetan cuisine. Which I love the best is their polite hospitality and the ambience-those yellow lights and the mesmerizing background music was literally driving me in some mountain.
Coming to the food, it was delicious, lip-smacking. Momos were authentic at its best. We had
• Chicken Open Momos
• Mutton Kothay
• Chicken Steamed Momos
• Chicken Dumplings
We just love their food and ambience. Will visit them again definitely. ❤

One of the decent restaurant in the town. Ambience was good, not outstanding. All the foods were very good in flavour. Staffs were so friendly. Price is very reasonable. Recommended place from my side🙂
To me it's the best place for food lovers plus they serve the best (actually the word best doesn't justify there Momo, I need a much much much better word for there Momo) .
Absolutely love the place and their ambience is too good. I like the concept of floor sitting rather than table chair, it's food heaven for me❤️
Blue poppy is famous for serving authentic Nepali and Tibetan dishes at quite a reasonable price. The place is decorated accordingly, with lights and music.
A signature character of the place is that beside every dish, they mention the time, they need to prepare the dish. So you just know what to order depending on you apetite.
Items we tried :
Chicken Momos - Their open momos (chicken) are complimented best with sesame achaar. These momos are petal shaped which looks really beautiful. The momos are not that much spicy and retain the authentic Tibetan taste.
Rating - 4.5/5 (Highly Recommended)
The ambience, the food, the staff everything was jst perfect and peaceful
This place is in Sikkim House with two types of seating arrangement... One with normal table with chair and the other one is traditional floor seating area. You have to take off your shoes and seat on a cushion to enjoy the floor seating. I like the floor seating as it gives a unique feeling. Food was very good and value for money. Staffs are really polite. With a peaceful environment and soothing humming tunes it's a perfect place for cozy meals and great place to hang out with big group of friends.
Food : 4/5
Ambiance: 5/5
Cuisine: Chinese, Nepali
Pocket pinch: Almost 1000 for two.
#Foodict
This is the new outlet of Blue poppy situated just beside the old one.
Directly coming to the food we ordered:
~ Pink lemonade
~ Chicken wings
Quality and quantity both are doing well but many items were not available for which we need to change our menu. Hope that next time it will not happen again.
Staffs are polite and well-behaved. Unique seating arrangements. Loved it.
A nice place for hangouts with friends and loved ones. Nicely decorated and divided into 2 parts, one for sitting on tables and chairs and one with floor sitting arrangement which is pretty good. We had a nice lunch with Pork Ribs, Pork Open Momo, Mutton Kothay, Rum Chicken, Pork Sapta, Aluu cheese Momo, Noddles and some drinks. This place lacks on dessert with only 3 option and of which only 1 was available. Overall it's a pocket friendly resturant and with nice quality and quantity of food. Surly recommended to visit.
Blue Poppy will always be a place very close to my heart because of the warm, nostalgic memories the place brings me of my hometown. It has the most delicious, authentic momos I've tasted in Kolkata and their open momos look like structures of art. The soup dishes had a hearty, flavourful taste to them and the pork belly was an amalgamation of crisp and spice. I would go to this place every week if it were possible.
Nice place & well decorated. We ordered pork open momos , chicken sapta & popo's rice. It was so yummy & tasty. I would like to visit again to try other dishes. 😋
An exact place for authentic momo lovers♥️ .
And the pork served here is one of the best in the town , with flavours enriching the taste buds , and altogether a symphony inside the mouth.
The food portions are fulfilling. We took Momos and dry chilli chicken. No compromise with taste and quality. Definitely worth visiting
This was my first visit to the place.
We ordered Jasmine ice tea, chicken open momo, korean fried chicken, chicken kothey momo.
1.korean fried chicken:
Big pieces of Chicken wings deep fried and tossed in a sweet and spicy thick sauce.
I felt that the gravy was a little extra sweet for my liking and the sauce was super thick.
Rating: 6/10
2.chicken open momos:
Although the size of the momos were small, but the stuffing of chicken was adequate and juicy.
They were served along with 2 chutneys.
One was spicy chutney made from nuts and another a sweet one.I personally did not like any of the two.
Rather the open momos were going well with the siracha sause that was on the table.
The open momos tasted nice.
Rating : 8.5/10
3.jasmine ice tea:
It was okayish. You can skip this and order any other beverage.
4.chicken kothey momo:
Steam chicken momo with the base shallow fried which gave it a nice crunch and texture.
Rating: 9/10
All of this costed us Rs.977.I felt it was little bit on the costlier side.
Service was efficient
Great food. The best place for momos in kolkata.Try their kothe and mutton steamed Momo.Thay are just fantastic...
The Sikkim House in Camac Street has both restaurants, the old Blue Poppy and the new Blue Poppy Thakali. They are run by the same family, so you may find mostly similar dishes being served at both restaurants. However, Thakali is more classy, expensive and serves dessert, while the older one is quite simple, more affordable and has no dessert in the menu. Coming to the food, we tried: 🔹Chicken Clear Soup (pristine and very tasty). 🔹Pork Shapta (very spicy, chunky pork belly fat pieces). 🔹Pork Steamed Momo (soft & juicy). 🔹Mixed Chilly Garlic Noodles (awesome). All of them were 5/5 and had an authentic feel. A noteworthy point, all these items were served within 2 minutes of ordering them, even faster than Maggi! Will go back for more!
Loved the steamed momos, prawn chips with sweet chilli sauce and chilli pork . The latter is a must try for all. But the rice dishes namely the steamed rice and egg fried rice weren't that good. But I would still love to visit this place again because I loved most of the dishes barring the rice ones. I would surely give it another try.
if you are a Momo lover and have fondness for tibetian cuisine than this place is for you a hidden treasures with succulent momos in the heart of the city
The blue poppy thakali is one of the best places I have gone through.
It is situated just in the Sikkim house,Middleton street.
I took ... Chicken kothay momo, Open pork momo, Rum chicken and Popo's fried rice. Every dish tasted good. Specially the kothay momo. So juicy and the lower portion was a little crunchy that was the best.
The interior was simple but beautiful. Ambience was very good.
Overall 4.5/5.
We ordered Pork momo, pork hand pulled noodles thukpa and a chicken pie . All of them are utterly delicious. Highly recommend for quality, taste and ambiance.
This place is the best place to have momos in kolkata. The ambience is also mesmerizing. They have chairs and table and also traditional way of dining where people sit on cushion and eat on a low table. One can enjoy authentic nepali cuisine and other Asian cuisines. The staffs are quite polite. This is place is a must have if you are in park street or camac street.
Chicken steamed momo, dry chili pork, Popo's fried rice with extra pork, and pink lemonade at The Blue Poppy.
Steamed chicken momo is so yummy. The platter includes 10 momos for 250 bucks. The dry chili pork is delicious, amply loaded with pork fat, and solid chunks. It's spicy, well-cooked, tender, and mouthwatering. Popo's fried rice is fried rice with prawn and eggs in it. You can ask for add-ons at the rate of 20 bucks, which I did with an add-on of extra pork. Pink lemonade is perfection. It's served in a jar and is a delicious concoction that complements a spicy main course.
Pocket pinch is a little too much though. But the quality is incredible.
A true hidden gem. If you love chinese cuisine, then waste no time and try out this place. We tried 1) Chicken steam momo ( loved the way they served it in a round wooded box) 2) Chicken Kothay 3) Popo's Fried rice 4) Chicken sapta. All four were just too good in taste. You get 10 pieces of momo per plate . But the quantity of rice and chicken, is little less but it is more or less enough for two. Loved the quick service. Ambiance was also very cozy accompanied by pleasant music which just sets the mood. Definitely a 6 star experience.
Pork Lover's Delight. Momo Lover's Heaven. Have been there twice already. Simple and soothing ambience with seating arrangement on the floor with floor desks.
Food : You can try various kind of Momos here. (Chicken/Pork/Mutton)
Special mention : Open Momos (4/5)
Pork Kothey (5/5)
Chicken Shafalay (5/5)
Steamed momos (5/5)
Pan Fried Noodles (5/5) -- normally I don't like gravy noodles. I prefer Hakka noodles usually. But this was great.
Pork Shapta (5/5) -- Best Pork Shapta I ever had.
Soups were decent too.
Overall a very good experience. If you want to try momos, try pork, this should be your go to place.
It's part of blue poppy. The momos are good. The noodles are worth a try especially the oyster sauce one. The ema dashi was a different dish. Nice place for casual hang out.
Very nice floor seating.loved the food...very authentic
This enchanting restaurant captivates with its intimate floor-seated dining, warm lighting. Rich aromas of delectable cuisine fill the air as plush cushions offer cozy seating. The gentle hum of background music complements the serene atmosphere, creating a perfect haven for an unforgettable dining experience.❤
Loved the atmosphere and their service. Specially like the ground seating arrangements. Somewhat didn't like the chicken wings in chilly butter sauce. It was very buttery and not at all spicy but loved the momo. Will visit again to try some other dishes.
Actual Rating- 4.5/5
This is one of my favourite places to eat at and I have visited it numerous times. I love most of the dishes that I have tried here and would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat.
Some of my absolute favourites here are the Pork Kothay, Chicken Wings in Chilli Butter Sauce, and Kimchi Fried Rice. Besides these, the Mutton Momo, Pork Thenthuk Soup, Stir Fried Flat Noodles, and Chilli Pork (loved the flavour in this one but the meat itself was a bit dry and chewy) are pretty delicious as well. However, I'm not a fan of their phaleys or chicken shapta and think they can be given a miss while ordering. The food is reasonably priced and the portion sizes are quite big.
Apart from that, the ambience is warm and welcoming. There's option to seat both on chairs and on the floor, which I love about this place. The staff is extremely polite and courteous and the servics is pretty quick. Please keep in mind that they remain closed from 3:30 pm to 5pm and plan your visit accordingly!
The momos were just melting in the mouth! It was tooo good.
All of the foods we ordered were absolutely perfect in their taste. The ambience was great, very relaxing.
Gonna come back again...
The atmosphere was pretty good and I loved the concept of sitting on the floor and dining. Tried the chicken momo, qewa datsi, and garlic noodles. The food was okay, a bit too oily compared to what I would have preferred.
The actual hyped Sikkim House for it’s Momos is here, “The Blue Poppy Thakali”.
The Sikkim House has another restaurant at the 1st Floor of Sikkim House with the name of “The Gangtok Kitchen” which many might mistake it for the Sikkim House’s Momo.
Now, to begin with.
Being the person where visiting every Chinese Cuisine now and then is a common task.
Gotta says this place offers food in the best quality along with the service.
Too quickly served on table.
Qr menu on table order is available.
Its a great place for momo lovers. The momos are really juicy and soft. one must try their mutton kothey and mutton steamed momo.
Went to this restaurant for lunch, the ambience was very good. We tried Chicken kothey, Egg fried rice and Chicken Shyapta. Food tasted exceptionally good and the portion was decent. Price is very reasonable. Only the service and hospitality could have been a little better. Overall good experience. Would love to visit again.
Amazing Himalayan cuisine. Great pork dishes and more. Steam Momos and Mongolian Pork are must tries
I just like the seating arrangement of this place. They have a shoe rack also.
Food is good, but they don't serve soup with the momos.
I went on a lunch alone at The blue poppy thakali and had ordered chicken kothey, chicken fried rice based on the recommendation of the server. This was my first time trying chicken Kothey and I was absolutely amazed and shocked that I had never heard or Tried this dish before. Chicken fried rice was very fresh and they served a lot. The ambience was alright and the food overall had a good taste, however nothing extraordinary. Good thing is that use digital menu cards and there is no wait time as such.
Tried Nepali Pork Thali. The sides were good especially the Kali daal and aloo dam but quantity was very less. Pork curry was excellent but the curry was very less and they will not refill upon asking. Pork meat was too good, very soft and juicy. Overall good. You can order extra rice and daal without any extra charge.
The food is too and well worth the money. We had chicken momo kothay (a must have) , mixed fried rice and chilli pork. We all had their inhouse mocktails, green apple mohito and mojito both were very good.
The food was great. However the chicken was not fresh enough, which was quickly replaced by them.
The environment is too good though not very large.
All the staffs behaviour was nice.
Overall a good experience 👍
Read mixed reviews about the place. But when the visionary behind the place is bestowed the title of “Momo Queen of India”…a visit becomes mandatory.
Ordered:
- The Kothey: While I normally love the “pork dumplings” category more than the chicken (personally think the fat makes them juicer)…must say the chicken Kothey were better. But both absolutely fresh and delicious. The dip along with it was just brilliant.
- Butter chilli wings: Finger licking good…the umami hits at a different level. But a tad bit greasy.
- Chicken Thukpa: Clean and fresh on the palate.
- Chilli pork: Well made. The meat was soft and succulent.
- Prawn wafers: I’m sure the folks took them out of a pack & fried them…but so glad we ordered them…twice 😅
The waiting staff could definitely do better with their service.
Concluding: Doma Wang did a helluva job in creating this space by herself. The place still holds its charm….and is well worth a visit.
The food and the ambience really stands out. The service was also good but I don't know why they added Service Charge by default (it was removed when asked for) but I have never seen a restaurant of this category separately charging Service Charge.
Coming to the food, we had
1. Crispy Pork in Chilly Butter Sauce
2. Mutton Steamed Momo
3. Oyester Basil Noodles
4. Non-veg Thukpa Noodles Soup
5. Kothy Chicken Momo
6. Blue Lemonade
7. Green Apple Mojito
I really liked sitting on the floor arrangement which I don't think is present in many restaurants in Kolkata.
The sitting arrangement is what I love the most about this restaurant.... There are pillow mats and the table height is very low so you can sit on the pillow mat on the floor with ease and relax while eating.... it's kind of Japanese culture....
And the foods are awesome....the momos are just delicious....and you won't be wanting to miss the taste of the fried momos...
Another special tasty dish is Thukpas 🍜....
And they eay they serve the momos are just lovely....momos will be covered in a separate container....you will be lifting that lid and the steam will come out....and that feel and smell is just awesome to look at and to eat.....
I recommend you to go there with your dear and loved ones and enjoy a great deal....
Also, plenty of spcae available to sit on and chill...also you can carry your work laptop and there are charging ports available...so no worry .... Have the foods of your choice and work, chill, gossip or even take a little nap... 🥰
Blue Poppy Thakali in Kolkata offers a unique culinary experience, bringing the flavors of the Himalayas to the city. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it was a delightful journey of vibrant aromas, authentic recipes, and warm hospitality.
As I entered Blue Poppy Thakali, I was immediately captivated by the cozy and rustic ambiance, reminiscent of a traditional Nepalese eatery. The restaurant's attention to detail in creating an inviting atmosphere added to the overall charm of the dining experience.
The menu at Blue Poppy Thakali showcases the best of Thakali cuisine, known for its bold flavors and hearty dishes. From momos and thukpas to traditional curries and grilled meats, the options are plentiful.
Note: The review is based on my personal experience and reflects my honest opinion.
