Superb ambience, gŕeat food and warm hospitality..went for bday celebration for my husband. The food was very good..from quality to presentation. Though the restaurant closes by 11 the staff was courteous enuf to allow us till 12 for the celebration.. Icing on the cake was personalised song selection for celebration to complimentary cake
We also used the space for dancing and cake cutting..what else can one ask for.. they truly made the celebration more special

One of the biggest solutions for the veg loving people in Kolkata! Delicious foods with a different and unique ambiance. The atmosphere is very friendly and most importantly, the quality of food served here is simply wow!

Like the starters and not the main course.. I have been there multiple times. It was an awesome place not anymore.. I think they are missing on basics after initial hype they got.. over all a decent experience but you expect much from these places...
Mumbai local was on my bucket list for a long time. I had tried 2 dishes, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Had tried the sandwich and the babycorn, and I loved them both. Definitely will come back to try other dishes. The music was good as well, and overall I would recommend it to any foodie. The pricing is a little on the higher side, but with zomato gold, the pocket pinch gets narrowed down.

Single thing here will definitely draw your attention-- out of the box decor/ambience. This is pure veg restaurant. I have ordered dhobi that chana bhatura, chhotte miyas paneer tikka and mash island and 'lights camera action' . Presentation of each food item is very unique. Chana bhatura was one of the best I ever had. Paneer tikka was mouth watering (though I am not a fan of veg kebab). Mudh island was just okayish. They mixed mudh island on the table and it was a pleasure to see that. Frankly speaking I did not like 'lights camera action'. Quality of food was also good. No complaints about staff's behaviour. If you are a vegetarian, this is a pretty much good place to go.

The place is very easy to locate. The ambience resembles that of a local train,with quirky sign boards hung in the wall to the graphitti design. The best thing about this place is its menu. The menu has some really funny and quirky names for its dishes.
The dishes are also presented very well.
We tried:
1)Bhaji Pav Mastani- This was accompanied with a full loaf of bun btead,with butter,onions and a painter's brush toh apply the butter on your Pav. The bhaji tasted amazing. Though it is a bit pricey as far as I think.
2) Rapchik Rasberry - This drink was given jn a small glass bottle. The drink had this soury and sweety taste of rasberries. A must try.
Food And presentation were on point. We ordered the Pani Puri, tandoori mushrooms, methi palak veg, cheese chilli onion kulcha (must try) and noodles.
The decor must have been very cool and quirky when the restaurant newly opened but somehow the place seemed a bit run down. For example the painting and graffiti on the walls were peeling off from few places.
Fantastic place with awesome Food. Reminiscing and Homly experiemce for Marathi people especially Mumbaikars (as name suggests).

Ambience - As the name suggests, this place will give u a feeling of local trains in Mumbai & it is mainly because of the seating arrangement as well as those sweet little handles hanging on the top ( exactly same as of local trains)
Food- Well we didn't ordered much but the taste was definitely the one you will crave for. I'll definitely recommend you to order puchhka & chhole bhature here because the way they serve it is quite impressive. As far as the tasty food is concerned I will recommend you to order the vada paw here. As Mumbai is famous for vada paw itself, this place is maintaining their statement.

We went here for dinner last month and trust me, this place, without a doubt, serves the best chole bhature in town. I am a Mumbaikar and miss the Maharashtrian food badly. I pretty much ordered everything a hard core Mumbaikar grown up eating - Pav Bhaji, Dhabeli, Missal Pav. While Chola Bhauta was a big win, Missal Pav was a big disappointment. It's traditionally made with matki and the serving style is to put the farsaan first, then put sprout base missal and top it off with chopped onions and Lemon..the dish they served was all wrong. However, rest of the preps were really good..

This was my first visit to a vegetarian restaurant and I wasn't disappointed. It's a themed restaurant as the name implies. There is no such ambience. The place is calm and quite. Way too spacious. Only one staff was at work since only two tables were being occupied.

Pav bhaji was so good and tasty. But i believe the pav could be more soft. The dessert was impressive and looked fancy. The serving of the chocolate sauce could also me more generous though. Satisfying food nonetheless.
Overall, a veg restaurant i wouldn't mind visiting again. Recommended!!!
[Zomato Gold Visit] Hassle free experience!
Visited this place on a weekend for lunch. The restaurant has really good decor, especially the graffiti design on the walls. I am sure a Mumbaikar would love this place.
The menu is well curated and has tacky names for the dishes. We ordered Misal Masala and Mushroom Pepper Salt. The Misal Masala was amazing, the mushrooms were decent. The quantity was good for 3-4 people.
We also had Gola (Kala Khatta), it was delicious. The servers were friendly and efficient. Loved it here, will definitely recommend this place!
Mumbai Local as the name says it specialises in the street food of Mumbai, also serves North Indian and Chinese Cuisine. It is a theme based place on the local trains of Mumabai. The mouth watering food out here will make you forget your cravings for non veg food incase you feel it is a waste to be in a pure Veg restaurant. You may completely binge on items like Chanachur paratha, Takatak Chilli Potato, Dhasu Dabeli, Chinese Samosas, Vada Pav , Kabab Platter and more.
The food presentation will leave you spell bound for sure. Many people go for indulging in these food items for dinner rather than going for the regular main course served here like Malai KolftaAloo do Pyaza, Mongolian Noodles. Rest you can be sorted with Chowpaty Gola barood, Strawberry shake, Margaritas of different falvour too.
The place is open almost till the mid night and has live music playing. The complete bar is available on all the days with a separate smoking area inside making it run better.

This place is located in ballygunj...if u r coming from gariahat side then u need to take 1st right after crossing haldiram restaurant...it's a small place..but the ambiance is nice & innovative...every part of the restaurant can be related to Mumbai....I went to this place with an expectation of eating authentic Maharastrian delicacies...but they don't serve authentic Mumbai dishes...they modernized all the dishes... however still food tastes good...their main USP is their service & presentation...I must say they serve food in a most innovative way possible... overall a nice place to visit....
The food was really delicious. Enjoyed over there. Had a bit of problem with Zomato Gold. Music was good. Staff was courteous. You might find the food a bit expensive. The starters were very tasty. The place is a little small. The ambience is pleasing, with the walls painted with details. A must visit place it is.
The biryani is lovely. Their Speciality is Paneer tikka masala and their cheese mirchi kulcha. I found the dal makhani below average.
Overall the food is great , the ambience is okaish.

We had ordered Chana Bhatura, Misal Pav and American Choupsuey, all these three tasted fabulous. Even the way they serve is very attractive. Service can be slightly better as we were sitting on the top floor and there were no waiters around. We were having to wait for all the time.
Such an amazing place! I and my friends went there on friendship day and it was worth it. The food there is amazing. We ordered chow patty panipuri, one two ka four platter, baby corn, mumbaicha vadapaw, wantons and the classic madh island (which is to die for). Each and every dish was amazing. Specially the dessert. Friendly staff. Would surely visit again very soon.
Wow!. I believe this three lettered word should be enough to describe what Mumbai Local is. From serving lip smacking foods to providing great ambience, they are simply amazing at it.
One of their desserts deserve a special mention, " Hai la". When the chocolate ball melts down as hot chocolate is poured over it, it looks so sinful. 😊 I'd recommend trying out this restaurant highly.
Visited this place for the first time. Nice and a quiet place. Good ambience and polite Staff specially Avinash who is serving everyone with a smile. Food is good. Specially the availability of a seperate jain menu which we generally dont see at many place. We liked the Lemon Coriander Soup and American Corn Pepper and salt. North Indian Dishes are good.
Suggesting to place a new item in menu for breads like cheese Naan and assorted basket of bread. It will be a good combo for a large number of ppl.

Good place to dine. Ambience was good, the staff was courteous. The service was quick. Food was also good, however one small request to the management of the restaurant, please change the name of “Veg Jhaalfarezi” to “Capsicum Farezi” as we could only get all three colors of it in the dish. We literally had to do treasure hunting in order to find some pieces of “carrot, beans, onion & peas”. I felt that I made a mistake in ordering that particular dish.
I was particularly impressed with the food presentation and staff demeanour. Abinash served us really well and it was a very satisfying experience.

An amazing place for authentic veg . Everything is good including ambiance and hospitality. If u visit there then u must try the gola , uff that was heavenly actually. Anyway will visit very soon again.
Visited the place with family on a Sunday. Even though the we had reserved the table, we had to wait for over 15 mins before we got one. However, when it comes to food, it was really good and probably that was more important. Not sure if there was any dish that we ordered which wasn't good. Also, the presentation of the dish also looked good.
The ambience is fine with names of mumbai's railway station and some often used mumbaikar's phrases on the walls. The staff were friendly and service was good as well. In a nutshell it's a good place to dine in if you are looking for a pure vegetarian restaurant.

The dhobi ghaat is a dish made to replicate the Dhobi ghat in Mumbai , consisting of mini bhaturas, hung on a clothes line with tiny clothespin and accompanied with a lovely pickle an awesome curry. I just loved the presentation .
The Bombay velvet is a paneer tikka on a sizzler dish . The paneer is filled with a unique masala .
Malai kofta was lipsmacing .
And of course the desser The MADH ISLAND Is strongly recommended. It is nothing but a rugged looking chocolate garden of dry chocolate brownie , served in a rustic miniature sack ,to be had with dark chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Been here a couple of times. Murals are amazing! Installations like the local train hangers are a nice touch. Food was good, can't complain. Staff is helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend a visit.

The USP of Mumbai Local is its unique presentation and Mumbaiya Food.Full marks for the Presentation.We started with “Dhobhi Ghaat Chana Bhatura” which tasted perfect and was sufficient for two people.Next we ordered “Bhaji Pav Mastaani” which was spicy one.Bhaji could have been a bit thicker.In the end we had their newly launched “Ooh La La” Dessert served with hot chocolate which was wowww.. in the mouth till the end.Interiors and Inside represents Mumbai Affair.Prices are bit on the high end for the quantity they serve otherwise good.

A lovely quaint place designed to look like a local train in Mumbai, dishing out authentic mouthwatering street food and cuisine from Mumbai to Kolkatans.
We had the Lights Camera Action for a refreshing start to the meal, followed by the quirky Dhobhi Ghaat Chana Bhatura, and the Madh Island for dessert.
The Lights Camera Action is a cool energising mocktail, with a taste like aam panna, made of ginger, powdered rock salt and mint muddled and topped with Cola. The drink is served in a camera lense-shaped container garnished with limes on top - quite an innovative approach.
The Dhobhi Ghaat is a dish made to replicate the Dhobi Ghat in Mumbai, consisting of mini bhaturas hung on a clothes line with tiny closthespins and accompanied with a lovely pickle and an awesome spicy chickpea curry.
The Madh Island is nothing but a rugged-looking chocolate "garden" of dry chocolate brownie, served in a rustic miniature sack, to be had with dark chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The server kindly poured the ice cream and sauce into the brownie and dug and prepared the dessert with the miniature trowel and garden fork. If one is not aware make sure to ask them to prepare the sweet dish.
Overall was highly impressed with this veg restaurant, it's cheery and colourful Mumbai-style decor and ambiance. The pocket pinch was totally worth the quality and taste of food and beverage. Their service and hospitality is also worth mentioning. :)

This place has customized versions of Bombay street food and the food tastes amazing. The Ambience of the place is nice and the service is pretty good. It's a must go place with your friends or family.

So, we had ordered all the Street food. I really liked their innovative way of serving. The food was good and I was really taken by the decor and theme of the place. I would really recommend the Chola Bhatura. The staff is really cooperative. The complementary pepsi they served made me nostalgic. Overall, it’s a must try place.

I was here on a sunday night, and mind you, please come here with a table booking if you're coming on a weekend night. We were seated on the ground floor and the ambience was a solid set up. It totally reminded me of a local train on one side and famous paintings on the other side with Sanjay Dutt as munna bhai, Amitabh Bachchan as Thakeray (Sarkar), Ajay Devgn also as some bhai and Salman Khan (as it is a bhai). Old collectibles and dated items adorned the walls and appropriate lighting set up a very nice ambience on the ground floor. Even the "Loo" is worth a visit even if you dont need to go there. Food is of amazing quality with quirky presentation styles, like the Dhobi ghat chhole bhatoore came as clothes hanging on a rope with clips and the queen's necklace watermelon drink was also very nicely presented and very refreshing to drink too. DIY masala papad is a good time pass while the food comes. Pav Bhaji disappointed me, it could have been better as it hails from Bombay. Vada Pav was very good as I saw it in that form for the first time.
Service was great. The people on the floor are very much young & active and they seemed committed towards serving customers. Its a fun outing with the family and/or friends.
I have given 4.5 as they can improve their food taste by paying a little less attention on presentation and a little more attention on quality. Thanks Mumbai Local.

Mumbai Local is in one of the lane next to Haldirams, Ballygunge. It is a small cute place with walls giving you feels like *Mumbai* and Locals of Mumbai. Hence, the name is perfect. The food presentation is damn good. The service is okay - not that great. Food was nice.

Garlic Naan was amazing.
Nice and refreshing ambience. Love the wall decors and the paintings. Old newspaper cutouts of advertisements as old as 1968 were a treat for the eyes. Not only this, the presentation of the food was eye catching too, tempting one to order everything they see pass by. Food was average as per taste, could have been better. Loved the dessert, Madh Island.
Also, very patient and friendly staff. Overall, worth a visit.

The chilli potato was perfect and not at all oily.
The gola was huge and they provided us with enough sherbet to keep on dipping it in.
The raasberry was a bit too sweet but it was fine nonetheless.

I visited this place with my relatives. It was my cousin's birthday. Staff was really very good. They offered us free birthday cake. We ordered few starters like kamal kakari, Chinese singhara and pander tikka . Other two was good , Chinese singhara and misal pav was quite spicy and tasteless.
In main course we had Punjabi aloo , malai kofta and dal makhani. Main course was also tasteless excluding malai kofta. You can check out other places for north Indian dinner.

The interiors of the restaurant is done pretty cool with the walls depicting the life in Mumbai. Coming to the food we ordered a kebab platter, butter naan, cheese onion naan, daal makhani and vegetable dish. The drinks are named uniquely. We ordered rapchik raspberry and wolf of Dalal Street and both were pretty good. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The food was good but it's a tad bit expensive compared to other places.

To Die For is quite an old and welknown name for the dessert lovers. The place is popular for their prettiest desserts and some uncommon veg dishes.

First thing to talk about is their beautiful ambience- in short a classy one, with glass roof through which the soft ray of sun will spread over your table and brighten the day. Then the beautiful walls with pretty cool decors, ideally photogenic. Lastly the white marble tables and the pretty brass cutlery.
Coming to food, had tried:
Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Orange Chilli Sauce- Rs.200,
Chocolate mousse with Poached pear- Rs.420,
Iced Americano- Rs.150 ,
Goat Cheese Tarts- Rs.350.
Vanilla bean panna cotta with orange chilli sauce was served in a white plate maintaining a pretty colour shades. Vanilla panna cotta was absolutely soothing, soft and fresh- with its sweetness, the orange chilli sauce was perfectly balancing the taste.
Chocolate mousse was dense, it was a dark chocolate mousse- with the beautiful flavours of dark chocolate, a little sour poached, juicy pear was perfect pair.
Iced Americano was absolutely refreshing and with a strong flavor of Americano, saving you from all your headaches and stress.
Goat Cheese Tarts was served with house made tomato sauce- each tart was well cooked and with a good stuffing of flavourful goat cheese.
So if you want a good place to date or want a place with good desserts or a good veg place or want a romantic semi-open place to chill- then To Die For is must visit.
Small and quaint. Quality of food is tremendous. Decor is brilliant - suave and minimalist. The chef Shashwat is a talent to look out for. A very different kind of fine dining experience, at a reasonable price. The dessert selection at To Die For is quite genuinely, to die for.
Amazing food. Decors r minimalist and lets the food do the talking. We had the cheese tomato toast, rosemary potatoes and sphagetti with mushrooms. All of them were absolutely awsum

This is a frills free space where clearly the focus is on the food and fare. The owner chef serves top notch food and desserts. It had started off as a desserts place and that's why probably the desserts remain the ultimate. The fact it's purely vegetarian didn't - and won't - deter any carnivore simply because everything on the menu is well, to die for!
Great place to have very good food! The staff is very professional and the chef/owner is a very friendly guy who keeps a very high standard compared to european gastronomy! The menu is carefully selected and very good! The pumpkin ravioli cannot be recommended enough!
Excellent food. Pumpkin ravioli, fresh burrata, sweet potato roesti, sauteed asparagus, goats cheese tart are some of the must try dishes. All the desserts are absolutely worth trying as well.
The only drawback is their service, the food takes a lot of time to be served.

This may be the best Western restaurant in Kolkata. Lovely Italian dishes that feel straight for Italy. Homemade pasta and delicious coffee. Portions are a bit small, so order the arancini as an appetizer. Great prices. You must try this place out and keep giving them your business. When I went there was no sign board so look for a nice building with big windows on the ground level.
If you are a dessert freak then this is the place for you. Not only desserts every single dish I'd delicious. I've been here many times and have tasted all the dishes . Pumpkin ravioli and eggplant fettuccine is highly recommend along with Cheesecake and panna cotta.
Well there's an emotional tag attached to this eatery. This was the place where the remnants of my childhood and adolescence memories do linger.Me and ma visited the place during the pujas.We stayed there from 1973 to 1997.My son was also raised there till he was 7 years old.Ma wants to brunch one day.Ma is 80 now

Delicious, stylish and worthy of high praise. To Die For ... is just that. Friendly & knowledgeable staff helped navigate the menu. The meal, one of best I've enjoyed in India.
