Since we wanted gala bengali cuisine experience we opted for the best in town!
Although their tastes and flavours are quite authentic. But their mutton and ilish preparations are quite a disappointment.
The overall experience was quite good as the place had that very bengali cultural vibe! But being a hardcore foodie and raised in a house that serves bengali food all round the year... Their food taste was not so good.
With this restaurant, I have checked all / visited all the major and famous 'Bengali' cuisine outlets across my city Kolkata.
Well nice decor (have to mention it's pure bengali vibe feel ambience), with great staff (dressed in traditional 'dhoti-panjabi' attire) and delicious mouth-watering bengali food. Had #FishPakoda #SteamedRice #BonelessHilsaSorshey and ended it on a sweet note by having #Rabri. This place is a must try on!
This Egg Devil from Aaheli Xpress, Axis Mall is our go to snacks after college. The spicey potato filling with boiled egg and bread crumbs with perfect crispness is so lip smacking. This egg devil is highly recommend for perfect evening snack.
Aheli serves you authentic bengali cuisine. This is located in axis mall and a great place for bengalis to visit. Startinf from their fishfry to shukto to bhetki macher paturi to the mutton items.. Each and every item were absolutelt lipsmacking and delicious.. do try their Chingri macher malaikari too..
Ambience : 4/5
Food : 5/5
Staff coordination : 4/5
Was looking to visit the main Resto but got lucky to find at new-town as it saved my travel time .. Menu is pure Bengali Cuisine which I love to order when we don’t get much of it at our place.. Whenever I am in Kol I search for such authentic Bengali 🥘 place to try Betki / Illis (hilsa) / special veggie dish like ol / mocha which brings mouth 💦 .. Food was good & tasty but expensive
Warm Hospitality. Extremely tasty and healthy food. Great Ambience. Everything is just perfect there. Truely Bangaliana at its best.Love to visit them again.
Good restaurant, good interior, but the taste of the food was ok, not awesome. I liked most the "banedi bangaliana" image of the restaurant. The staffs were awesome. Overall good restaurant.
Spotted out this place in axis mall while wandering, expected some great Bengali food , but my experience turned out ok . Portion was good. Food really missed that Bangla soul food touch. Average food.
Discovered this place while watching a movie at Axis Mall.. display was nice and food was quite decent... However I somewhere missed the Wow feel which I expected out an Aheli enterprise..
This outlet is locating at Axis Mall, New Town. If you want extremely good quality of authentic Bengali food with a cheap price. This place is perfect for you. Food hygiene, Presentation, quick serve, food quality everything are just awesome. Hope we will get more bengali varieties of dishes further. Highly recommend.

Tried Egg devil and chiken cutlet from Aheli. It was very tasty .The coating of devil and cutlet was prepared in a different way . Never got such kind of taste before.

Food is excellent. One less than 5 stars because of the exorbitant prices. But, full marks on taste of food, cleanliness and staff behavior.
Well this outlet of aaheli xpress in axis mall food court is really good. They have a reasonable priced menu and even the quantity is good. The best I found over there is the Egg Devil. Even the aludam was tasty and loveable. The gulab jamoon was hot and was a mouth melting.
Good flavour. Veriety of delicious recipes you will ever get. Nice combination of recipes at reasonable prices. Neat n clean. Overall enjoyed a lot.
Should add some more types of sugar free sweets....food quality and service is excellent....thank u for such a great behaviour...I would love to visit again
Very homely, low spicy, quite nostalgic taste... Simple manues and fast service... Pocket friendly... Enjoy kochi paths jhol, kosha murgi, chop... Really nice... But I believe decker lane outlet is better...
I went with my family on last Saturday (dated 25th August).
The place is true to its name and brand value. The decorations are done as per the Bengali culture and sentiments. The place gives a lavish yet homely feeling. The waiters are dressed in typical Bengali attire of dhuti-panjabi. The crockery used there has authentic touch of Bengal.
We had Radhaballavi and Aloo Dum. The taste is very good. You might feel that the food is over-priced, but considering the ambience and the food quality, you should not feel so.
Amazing food..authentic bong cuisine at its best..we had mocha chop tawa bhetki luchi dhokar dalna chitol muitha bhetki paturi n ended our food festival wid some bful chatni n papad..it's bit pricey but I guess it's worth..u get excellent service..mouth watering delicacies..some of the finest bong preps..n smiling faces..so if u r a foodie..drop in here n njoy the hospitality..thanks..will b bac soon
Apart from the main restaurant, there is a portion in axis mall just beside the food court where Aaheli has a food counter. They have comfortable seating areas outside there restaurant also and they have interesting combos and evening starters. We ordered a mutton, plain rice and papad combo which came for 120 rupees and tasted quite good. The combos are really good. We also ordered a jumbo fish fry and mishti doi (sweet curd) atlast which soothed our taste buds. The food was really good. I look forward to visit the restaurant sometime.
Ambiance is good and the theme is totally based on bengali culture. Total bengali restaurant. Food quality is really nice. Price range is little higher than the other bengali restaurants. Mostly all types of bengali fish items are available. For veg also so many options are available. Nice place to enjoy time with your family.
If you want to test some pure bengali food and want best of it's test then you have to visit Aheli. I have visited with family for lunch and ordered Thali. Varaties of items with sufficient quantity. Must recommended for everyone.
So good place for Bengali food. I was there with my parents but it’s a place where you can go also with your friends. The service was good but can be more better. And of course I would recommend the Bengali food specifically for everyone. what to try at least once. The overall experience was good.

Wanted to experience authentic Bengali food and I found this restaurant close to my hotel Novotel. Decided to take a chance. It was almost 10.30 by the time I reached there and restaurant was almost empty. I ordered the Raj Bhoj thali. It took about 20mts to serve this. But it was worth the wait. Thali had a chicken dish, steamed fish, prawn curry and couple of vegetable dishes. All were good. Surprisingly fish was good though I do not like mustard much. Bit expensive. This thali costed me Rs.1564 net which is equivalent to a five star hotel buffet.
Went there a decade ago.
But still remember it at all.
Went there before watching a movie.
Had some whiskey and beer with their fantastically cooked Mutton Kosha.
After watching the movie we felt hungry again and decided to step in there again.
We took whiskey again in our drinks and took Paratha and Mutton Kosha.
Both the times we took Mutton Kosha because they were actually mouth watering.
The Stuffs are too well managed and everyone wearing Bengali traditional outfits will make you spend more your time and money both.
Yes, a bit expensive. But fabulous. Worthy enough to spend money there.
It was a nice experience tbh.
As they say, "Bangaliyana at its best".

Lovely place to dine out ... A notch above 6 Ballygunge Place when it comes to quality and quantity .. This is the second time I'm visiting Aaheli !!! Loved their Chittol muitha and deserts ...
Had lunch with my family. Food was just awesome. If anyone wanna have pure Bengali cuisine, you must try here. Very nice environment. Quality and taste of food was just next to heaven...had a very nice time.
I'd say that the food quality has gone down drastically overtime. Some were jaw dropping, but some were not at all up to the mark.
I'd give a 3 star for food quality, 4 for service and 5 for ambience (it was really great, as always).
So a 4 star overall
The service is very lax and the food arrival time was almost an hour. But they more than made up for the delay with the amazing food. Succulent Hilsa followed by perfectly cooked tender mutton. Will certainly recommend it to friends!
Do try the Pur Bhora Bhetki.
Nice ambience. Went to the place with finnish guests as a office lunch. Ordered bengali thali which was sumptuous for one person. Ampora shorbot and posto bora makes quiet a topping. Overall nice visit but the service needs to be better.
“There is no sincerer love than the love of food.”
The average Bengali who might not even have heard of Irishman George Bernard Shaw, however, seems to live by Shaw’s quote.
West Bengal, with rich cultivating land, the practice of multi-cropping is quite common here has earned a fame for producing varied and good quality rice. Variety of vegetables and fruits are grown here round the year. West Bengal has always been famous for its mouthwatering dishes. The most popular delicacies of the state are the preparations of the sweet meats and the other sweetened delicacies. You can actually have the fish steamed, just fried, or stewed with healthy vegetables and sausages or plainly boiled in spices, with unusual flavors. You are spoilt for choices with options like Hilsa, Bhekti, Magur, Salmon, Prawns, Rui and Carp, which are most popular of all varieties of fish in West Bengal. It’s unique in its abundant use of fish and its employment of a variety of often fiery pastes made from ground roots, spices and chilies. So fiery they are, we’re told, that even some visiting Indians can’t handle the heat. The meal of the regular Bengali ends with a sandesh or a rosogolla. The other sweetened preparations include a variety of payesh and the sweetened curd or mishti doi.
If I talk of Bengali dishes that brings water to the tongue, the first name that comes to mind is Aheli.
Aaheli specializes in serving Bengali cuisine at its very best. It will take you through various parts of West Bengal serving famous succulent delicacies and culinary excellence.

Overhyped.. Is the word when it comes to Aaheli. Not value for money. Though authentic Bengali food is very good in taste, especially their non veg specialities but there are places in Kolkata which can serve the same quality and quantity at half the price. Went there for an office dinner.. Had everything from posto bora, mochar chop to bhetki fry, lobster fries. Finally rounded it off with aahelir bhuribhoj thali.. Where the chitol macher muitha deserves a special mention. Mutton kosha and bhetki paturi were not that good. This place also seemed to be understaffed. Took a lot of time while serving.
Nice food, Price is a bit high, ambience is truly awesome.. Apart from that service is well maintained. Quality is good.. Quantity is enough. Had a great time.
This is a branch restaurant of Peerless group for authentic bengali cuisine. This restaurant has a bar menu as well unlike many other bengali cuisine restaurant. The restaurant is quite costly if you go for the Ala carte menu. I ordered the thali menu which was Aahelir Bhuribhoj. It was great taste of authentic bengali food. The place is costly but the food is great. The rice preparation with ghee, fish and chicken menu all were great. I loved the chutney at the end. Decor is quite good and the staff wears bengali Dhoti and Punjabi.
Great based on hospitality but ok on food taste. We visited this place on Mahalaya lunch and ordered Thakurbari special mutton, sobuj morich chicken, mutton pulao, prawn pulao and tawa fish. Each were good but not great. I loved the fish and it was to die for. Pulao was ok. Chicken was well cooked and good in taste but the mutton was as bland as ever. Overrated and overpriced are the adjective that readily pops into my mind.
The modern day bengali cuisine lacks the touch of showmanship, and its distributors the swagger to flaunt its indigenous commodities. This is largely due to the strict adherence to an agrarian economy that has continued to define(and plague) the state's history. This paucity of brash competitiveness continues till date, and therefore the mob of its own capital city and epitome of culture inadvertantly throngs to an Italian or mexican food joint in search of fine dining. It is thus, heart warming to find a place such as Aaheli, that turns the tide in an attempt to stamp its largesse in the minds of its clientele.
It is unsure at this point if opening a branch at the middling Axis mall was the best business idea, but the strategy behind this was clear-to cater to the populace who lived in the far end of the city and would be fairly unwilling to travel to park street and patron Aaheli at it's roots.Given the timid footfall the mall attracts, this Aaheli outlet gets its fair share of customers. The entrance leads to a small dining space, which also houses a well stocked bar.Past this is the main dining area, which is ubiquitously well lit and adorned by paintings. The best feature is of course the center piece-a raised wooden platform holding miniatures of swan and red mistletoe. The tables are set with lavish interluding space, and the cutlery is all brass, emanating the medieval bengali royalty. The attendant lady and the waiters all wear traditional bengali outfits, which succinctly puts off any notion of a multi cuisine.
They have a limited selection of mocktails. We went with the mango mocktail and didn't regret our choice. It also prepared us well for the next two items-pulao rajnandini and goalando purer mangsho. Both the items are well pricey, but my oh my,how they titillate the native tongue! It's easier to believe the epiphany that gripped Newton when the apple fell,or the one that made Archimedes run buck naked after one has tasted these two.The pulao was a perfect blend of aroma and subtlety while the
mutton brings in a rambunctious proportion of flavor in spite of a measured spice content.Mere words fail to describe the perfection of the duo,and cannot be slighted by any absence of adornment in display.
To sum it up,aaheli doesn't treat the F&B industry as a low hanging fruit ready for plucking through mere presence in the face of commercial disdain by rivals. It goes out on a limb to make the experience a memorable one.I was also informed that they will have a buffet spread ready for the puja.It gives me a great pleasure to review this place on this auspicious day, while listening to "chandipath" by the legendary Mr.Bhadra.Yeah,I am a foodie,I can get away with this apparent "sacrilege."
Happy Debipokkho to all :)
Revision to this review-I went back to this place again very recently, this time with family. We were pleasantly surprised by their amshotto khejurer chutney.it is delightful and heart warming. At the end of the meal, the lady attendant served us "paan" and finger bowl along with the bill.During my previous visit with friends,we had noticed their tray of "paan" at the exit, but made nothing of it.And importantly,we weren't served paan ,which now makes me think that this place has an age wise discrimination regarding their service.A betel leaf might amount to nothing, but it's the thought that counts.and that's why,I am redacting my previous 5/5rating.Discrimination in any form is an evil, and I feel obliged to protest anything plagued by the same.
Been there with family.. it is a star rated restuarant... but the food is so so... nothing so very great to visit the restuarant again and again.. there are plenty of dishes available.. but they need to develop taste of te dishes rather than just concentration on qwality
An upscale Bengali cuisine restaurant in Axis Mall. I wonder how much business they would be having as the mall doesn't have a huge foot fall. Anyway coming to the place, ambience is really good. We took a non-veg Thali costing 605/-. You get 3 non veg items viz. 1 chicken, 2 fish items (Rohu & Prawns), Sukto, Luchi, Rice, Papad, Chutney & Payas. Lot of stuff which is heavy for a single person. We also ordered a plate of Ilish Shorshe (2 pieces). Again the taste was great although a bit pricey. There were some Thalis which were very costly. Didn't feel to try them when we were quite satisfied with the basic one 😀😀😀
Bengalis are known for their love for adda, food, especially fish, meat and chicken. And whats better than eelish? Aaheli gives a taste of authentic Bengali cuisine, there’s no place better than Aaheli.
Location: A new branch of Aaheli has popped up in the 4th floor Axis Mall in Rajarhat. Decor and
Ambience : the traditional Bengali ambience has been upheld by Aaheli. Aaheli sell by its ambience. It depicts the richness of Bengali culture, art and literature. Folk paintings, jamini roy paintings, scenes from rural Bangla makes you feek close to home. The coloured glass, the bronze utensils, the earthern lamp gleaming , the pigeons on red- garlanded swing is surely going to bring about the glimpses of old Kolkata. To top it all, the rabindra sangeet played adds to the magic.
Food : was invited to their Hilsa festival, "aaheli teh Eilshe guri" which is a month long hilsa festival till the end of August. The menu comprises of both the cuisine from the two parts of Bengal- The East and The West Bengal. The old lost “ Zamindari cuisine”, the cuisine of “Thakurbari” have been recreated.
The following menu served is surely going swagger you and drive you into sheer nostalgia.
