This food joint is located in Kankurgachi, serving mainly Chinese food. Sitting arrangement is quite simple,service was quick. I had tried dry chilli chicken and fried rice here. Food was quite decent, but the place can be more clean.
Probably the oldest restaurant in kakurgachi area for authentic chinese cuisine. The ambience is not so much to fall for but that's what makes this place to remember, the food. They have varied and interesting chinese and Tibetan foods. One of them which I tried today was pork cutlets which is served with potato wedges and lemon. Cost is ₹185. It was enough of quantity for two. The cutlet was tasty and filling was pretty amazing.
The only glitch is that all the foods are a bit high priced than usual.
I have visited a lot of Chinese restaurant in Kolkata so far according to me Hong Kong Kakurgachi is the best of all. I can't be compared with other restaurants.
Even better than any restaurant in Chinatown I would really recommend this place to everyone the price is very reasonable .
This place is a must visit for all the Chinese lovers you need to taste gravy noodles rather than Hakka.
It's not a huge place or it doesn't run by publicity but the preparation of this restaurant is worth tasting!

It might be too old to see but I bet you gonna fall in love with there quality of food. For me it's a bit costly place cuz many places like tangra or chaina town have more Chinese restaurant at pocket friendly price. But in kakurgachi I think hong kong is the oldest place for Chinese food.
I ordered
Pork cutlet which cost around 185 bucks.
They provide huge sized two cultes with some potato fries, And lemon.
If 1person can finished one single cutlet then he/she have there evening snacks properlyy.
Tast wise I'll give 4.5/5 🌟
I love chinese and this is a perfect place for people who loves chinese. Food are on point. Loved their mixed fried rice. ❤ Service is also good.
The ambience may not be so trendy and attractive, but who cares! We were very skeptical about ordering because of the poor interiors and contradicting high pricetags of the foods. But once the food came we were delighted. Every item was fantastic. Sufficient quantity for two in each serving. Taste was fantastic. So, quality and quantity both do justice to the slightly high pricetags. Fish Manchurian, Chilly Prawn, Mixed Noodles w Pork, Sweetcorn Soup all were great. Recommended place.

One of the oldest Chinese restaurant in North Calcutta. The make brilliant Chilly Chicken dry. A normal ambiance with good Chinese food. They serve pork as well. Fried rice is also recommended. Recommended!

Hong Kong used to be a very popular restaurant in my childhood days . Now with many new restaurants coming up it has somewhat lost it's charm . They have remained the same with hardly any noticeable change in decor or even staffs . We were fond of their noodles & dry chilly chicken . Visited this place after a longtime & parcelled the foods to enjoy them back home .
Chicken & Prawn Fried Rice : Good quality of rice with enough chicken & prawn . Taste has remained the same ( perhaps the cook too ) .
Chicken & Prawn Noodles : It was even better . Noodles was nicely cooked & applied with right amount of oil to leave a satisfying feeling in the mouth .
Chilly Chicken With Bone Dry : My all time favourite from their kitchen . Quality & quality both were very good .
Chilly Pork Dry : Tried this for the first time & it was nice too . Good side dish with noodles .
Packaging was primitive . It has remained the same ( which is not desirable ) & much improvement is needed .
The Traditional Chinese cuisine along with the taste, which pulls me back every time with my love. Our first & foremost eatery from college times was the Hongkong , Kankurgachi. My wife & I had many cherished memories of this restaurant and still we visit the restaurant like yesterday - when we had Chinese mixed soup with fried chicken Momo and then Thai soup with Chicken Fooyung. The soups are specialities of this Restaurant. When in Kolkata try it, I know you will like it.
Decent oriental cuisine in this area.. middle range restaurant.. not very pricey. Quantity is good.. taste is good.. service is generally prompt.. parking may be an issue based on location.. otherwise quite family dining at low cost joint..

Have been visiting there since a kid and it hasn’t changed. The chilli chicken and Hakka noodles is still on my list every time I visit back home. Not so much for ambience and sad part they don’t deliver. But still there chilli chicken is worth the trip once.
Had the dinner tonight. The food was good and delicious. Had a wide variety of selection from the menu and the staff there would also help you if you need help in making the selection. The service was fast. The only down side I feel is that the price is little bit expensive. But overall a nice place to visit atleast once to try the food. Looking forward to visit the restaurant again in near future.

One of my friend suggested this place so i checked it out .On17th June 2018 i went here with my family for dinner.I ordered
1) Mixed gravy chow

Each of the dish was good in taste .

Although I am rating the place 4 overall, in terms of food quality and consistency it will easily be a 4.8. It is a quiet neighbourhood kind of place and evidently it has no ambition for being anything more than that. However it can easily beat 99% of resturants in India in terms of consistency of taste. I am going there for 25 years and the food has remained stupendous always. So much so that every visit to Kolkata must include a visit to Hong Kong, any one visiting me in Mumbai from Kolkata is expected to carry a box of dry chilli chicken in their flights.
Getting to the food folks, this particular review of mine will help all the readers more than any previous review of mine. I speak with 25 years of experience- So just close your eyes, dont read the menu just order the following-
1) Soups-Order any damn thing, sweet corn, lung fung, whatever suits you. They all are decent and nothing needs a special mention.
2) Starters- If you do not order the dry chilli chicken you have wasted every rupee that you have spent there. I know it is kind of lame and unimaginative to order chilli chicken. BUT in Hong Kong Kankurgachi they are the best chilli chickens I have tasted in my life. No cornflour coating no deep fry. Pure heavenly spiced chicken with sweet soy sauce.
3) Go for the gravy chicken/mixed chowein. Its unique and I have never tasted anything like it anywhere in India. It is a bit on the heavier side but who cares? Dig away at the soft syrupy noodles with all the chicken and prawn floating about.
The fried rice and american chopsuey are pretty good options that you can try out if tou have to.
4) Deserts are plane jane and mediocre. Not recommended.
BEWARNED, any deviations from the above recommendations may not give you a 4.5 experience ☺
The only bad thing about Hong Kong is the dirt cheap steel plates and cutlery in which the food comes. They are a major turn off. The ambience is also ordinary
Otherwise it is a well kept 30 year old secret which people of Kankurgachi/Phool Bagan have neatly tucked away. Find it out for yourself and please please please donot forget to order the dry chilli chicken.
When its getting quite late at night and you suddenly want to go out for dinner, Honk Kong is the place. Closing hours is not very later, but quite suitable for a quick filling dinner.
A plate of mixed chowmein and a plate of mixed fried rice along with a side of gravy chilli chicken is just perfect for 3 hungry people. You could always add a plate of chilli pork or garlic chicken to it. The dry chilli chicken and gravy noodles is great as well and so is the chicken clear soup or sweet corn soup. The food for price value is good and the best part is their super fast service. One of my favourite quick chinese place in the city.
The quite ambience and quick service is satisfying when you are hungry. Simple yet satiates your tummy.

Hong Kong Chinese restaurant, the place is good... definitely the amount of food is more than okay...two people can have a satisfying tiffin for 250-300 minimum...so I can say if you are looking for a Chinese restaurant around kankurgachi...go for this restaurant

Hong kong the only chinese resturant in our area. And probably the oldest one. Maybe my parents also went during their childhood.
Now the Food, big boy you get the most authentic Chinese food. Kolkata unlike other parts of India is not unknown to authentic Chinese cuisine thus to meet standard and play for such long time with the ever growing fierce competition from around the city(the likes of china town and teretti bazar) you need to deliver the best. And they do, though you do not get a lots of fancy name on the menu card what they serve is authentic. I have tried almost everything. Prawns here is of quality all the year round,Dry chili chicken the most recommended.
Decor and ambiance - What u need is some peace and dimly lighted place to have your food they tick both of them but better decor is available in the town at this wavelength.
Service- The staffs are experienced but they need to be more effective to requests and a bit more professional to cope up with the growing demand.
Thus, to round off they deserve more visits and popularity. Need to be listed as a hidden gem.

I love this place. It has been one of my childhood favourites! Not because of the ambience or the decor but the food and the loving service. A very low family affair, Hong Kong is a very old restaurant and serves you of the best authentic tasty Chinese. Ambushed in a far off place i visited this dine out after 5 years and lo and behold all of the interior, the manager, the service 'Kakus' are the same and remembered me and greeted me with a very cordial smile! Coming to the food these are my top favourites.
Chicken Lung Fung Soup- This is a mixture of all the non vegetarian products available and tastes amazing. No thickeners but apt consistency. One by two is like two all and bowlful.
Crispy chilli babycorn- This again is a good one in veggie starters.
Chilli Chicken Dry- Oh my God , This is to die for! No unnecessary thick coating, but soft succulent chicken sauted in dark soy fulfilling its authentic name by serving it with truckloads of chillies! Spicy lovers or not this one is a must!
Gravy mixed Noodles- this is my second favourite and the cantonese gravy is quite tasty with lots of prawns chicken and shredded eggs.
Veg Hakka Noodles- This is a simplistic chowmein that will definitely nudge your tastebuds.
Dont expect the ambience to be a tipping point but this restaurant with its ever smiling old servers will warm your heart!

Have been visiting this place since childhood. If you wanna be amazed by the chinese here, do order Dry Chilli Chicken. May also try Chicken in Hot Garlic Sauce. And do try the Cantonese Noodles. Cost is a bit on the premium side, but this order is totally worth having at least once.
Ordered - egg chow Hakka (nice), veg fried rice (nice), hot garlic prawn (nice), fresh lime soda (nice). Prawn quality was very good. Egg parts of chow is very clean and fresh

Only if u want to experiance the great taste of fried chilli pork. Other recepies are overpriced with oily preparation. The fried rice lacks the chineese flavour and is thick textured rice.
I've had one of the best chopsueys in town here. Quality is excellent and quantity of one dish is sufficient for two people. Decor is nothing extraordinary.

Recently visited this eatery , one of the elder chinese servers of north kolkata. The decor is basic and not very impressive done typically in shades of red and black . I had a mixed gravy noodles , and absolutely loved what they offered. There was ample amount of meat and prawns with a fried egg on top , and quantity was good for two . Though the pricing seemed bit on higher side for the dish , i would definitely like to try out few more dishes from here.
Had the Chicken Button Mushroom + Vegetables soup and Fried Chilli Fish. The soup was flavoursome with lots of vegetables and chicken. The fish was really soft and tasty, but could do with some vegetables (onion, capsicum) other than only chillies.
This joint is a very old chinese restaurant in this area. Years back this place used to serve decent Chinese food but with time they went down on quality and the price tags are petty high as well. Needs to upgrade to stay in the race.
I have a soft corner for this restaurant as i went there once every month with parents till i grew up and discovered other places .

One of the oldest joint in this part of northern kolkata.. The food is really lip smacking.Try out the Hong Kong special noodles and the pork dishes..it will leave your taste buds tantalizing.The food is really very good.A must try out for all people staying in the Northern part of Kolkata..👍🏻
Well the best thing about this place is the tax and vat are all added in the menu.. Which means that the price that is displayed in the menu card are inclusive of all the taxes. Apart from that very spacious place to dine in. Average food, good service.. Very nice place for family dinner.

I've been there many a times and the Chinese dishes served are simply delicious! The price might be a bit on the higher side, but that includes the taxes, so in a way it's helpful for us. If you want to experience authentic Chinese food, then do give a visit to Hong Kong...once! :)
Went there since my childhood days as it's one of the old Chinese restaurant at this locality....theire noodles and soups are their top notch....price wise quality and quantity both are good...very minimal decoration with some Chinese décors....owner should look at this as this is a competitive market...people not only fond of food but also the entire services and comfort in restaurants....

No U cannot notice if u pass by a car unconscious. Ahead of kankurgachi crossing towards ultandanga on ur left hand silently stands the wide gate of Hong Kong restaurant. Serves you with the best Chinese in the local with at a not so cheap price though. Neatly decorated with red tables and cosy chairs. The restaurant has all the courtesy built in their waiters. Try the chop suey american and Chinese both...its really good.

I used to go there when I was a kid. Chinese meant Hong Kong. It had a big fish tank that I would stand in front off and just gaze at the big fish.
I remember my dad asking for the noodles to be made "Hakka". Had no clue what it meant then.
It's so heartwarming to be reviewing this restaurant after all these years. Will visit this place during my next visit to the city
At C.I.T road, kankurgachi when one look at this place, the instant thought comes that it is just a OK OK type small restaurant... But don't get deceived by its outer look.. When U enter u can see its a well decorated place N it can accommodate around 50 people. Trained staff with quick service..... Lots, I repeat Lots of Chinesee dishes are available which are equally tasty.... Toppings are more than enough... Nice place
I love Chinese food and having visited almost all reasonably priced chinese eateries in kolkata I can confidently say that the food here is awesome. The Pork dishes are the best here. Good service. Would have rated it 4 if the prices were a bit lower.

Hong Kong is a very old chinese restaurant in this area. The food they serve is really of a good quality and sumptous. It is a bit expensive as per quantity. They have a authentic way to serve there food in steel plates till date.
#Hongkong is one of my most visited restaurants in the city. The Soups till Porks were once the best in the northern parts of kolkata... And still now the platters are very cheap. As I am going there for the last 5-6years I know that its quality has degraded very little but till date it stands as one of the few best in Chinese cuisines.. The ambience is great and u can enjoy alone or with ur closed ones happily.

Hong Kong is one of the restaurants where I go since I m a kid.. I just love their food as I am a very big Chinese food lover... This is at kakurgachi .. As its a very old restaurant there is nothing special in the decor... I used to and still love to sit on the round table the one an only.. Other tables are rectangular normal ones.. :)
Coming on to the food.. Extremely authentic Chinese they prepare.. The gravy noodles and chilli chicken is I feel they are one of best at preparing.. Love the prawn and soup.. Specially lung fung soup...

Located at the busy street of Ultadanga, Hong Kong has always been my favorite diner. Be it with family or friends, the surrounding is pretty good and the waiters too are quite friendly. I love their starters, mainly the Manchow soup. The best thing about their food is that it is less oily and very delicious. The fried rice and the chicken side dishes are also palatable. The pork which they serve is succulent enough to savor yet again. The only minor problem is the price. I think it's a bit overpriced.
Overall experience is nice. Hoping to dine again. :)

Shabby interiors and below average ambience but this place do serve quality chienese food items. Starting from soups noodles chicken dishs etc every one of the tastes so good. This is one of the oldest places in this area and still is one of the better places in Kolkata serving awesome chienese food. Service is fast and thats awesome too. Quantity is okayish and quality is too good.
This place has been an old favorite...I have been visiting this place since my childhood for the lip-smacking Indian-chinese food they have on offer...and after an umpteenth number of visits...I would definitely vouch for the fact that I have had the best dry chilli pork here...and it is a must have for me everytime I visit this place!! The hong kong special gravy noodles and manchurian/chilli preparations are my personal favorites! The fish and chicken are fresh and succulent...the interior is ordinary though and the service is ok...definitely value for money in terms of the food quality!

Order dry chilli pork and dry chilli fish...both were quite delicious...though I found the pork a bit fibrous but the fish was soft and will melt in your mouth..

today my husband took me to this amazing Chinese restaurant and it was a treat for the taste buds..im a Chinese food fan and there are very few restaurants that satisfy ur craving, Hong Kong is one such restaurant where the food quality is top class and the quantity is enough and more for someone like me who has a large appetite..fried chilli chicken, fish fingers, mixed fried rice are out of the world. im definitely recommending everyone i kno who visits kankurgachi side to try the chinese once nd im sure u will visit again. the staff is also very friendly and cooperative.

Recently visited this restaurant with my friend. It is located conveniently near kakurgachi. The ambience is good. Full marks for their hospitality. But the real surprise was the food, we ordered chicken and prawn fried rice and chili chicken. Both items were excellent. Quantity sufficient. The fried rice deserve a special mention. It was really nice. Do try this combo as it is pocket friendly too. Cost ₹500 for two. Must try place. Will visit again..

I have been going to this particular place since I was a kid. Despite the shabby atmosphere and the poor presentation of the dishes, to be honest the thing that matters the most (FOOD to be precise) undoubtedly is one of the best one could have here.
Go for the Prawn and Pork gravy noodles along with chilly garlic chicken. I can assure, you are going to have a good time.

One of the oldest shops in the area. My family's been visiting the place for a looong time. The food is quite good and their Chicken Sweet Corn Soup and Chilly chicken are must tries.
The only thing missing is the home delivery facility.
The place has always been nice. The food quality is as remarkable as it was 10 years ago. Came after a long time here but the taste hasn't been altered. The service, the quantity were all perfect.
The food quality, ambience, service and the overall authenticity has remained the same since it's establishment in the 1970s. The standard is really great and one must try chilli chicken dry, garlic prawn, chicken with vegetables, noodles, fried rice, chicken asparagus soup, tomato soup. And of course some ice cream for dessert. It is pocket friendly and recommended for any occassion.

This is one such place where you can find the authentic taste of chinese food. The decor and atmosphere are not trendy and will bring you 10 years back. But the quality of the food is unbeatable. You can't do swiggy and zomato here. You have to come personally to get the food. And trust me you will not regret the visit.

You enter into a world of nostalgia the moment you step inside the doors of this restaurant. I used to visit this restaurant when I was a child with my parents and extended family. I am glad I can share the experience with my kids. The ambiance is nothing to speak of, but the food!
