Bought some gulab jamuns, though tiny in size, they tasted great... the smell of ghee lingers. Right amount of sweetness with soft and smooth skin...delicious

I am a regular customer of Mithai because of the vantage location near Gariahat Crossing. The shop doesn't have the glitz & glam like many other sweet shops in KolkataI but you will love their mithais particularly their sandesh. The snacks section is mostly out of stock but their Shingara (Samosa) & Khasta Kochuri is to die for. Now I love my Shingara fillings sweet & they make the right potato fillings with coconut, badam, methi & a hint of ginger which definitely makes their shingara one of it's kind. Highly recommended. Do visit & try.

After trying out the more popular Bengali sweets outlets, we tried Mithai and loved it over every other place. The sandesh had just the right sweetness and they were all melt in the mouth kind. The salesmen at the counter are very helpful, seeing that we were new to the place they were quick to suggest what all we should try. Unlike another popular outlet that we checked out where the sales people were just not interested in tending to us.

Their singharas (samosas) are also excellent and so are the roshgullas. We had boxes packed to bring back home and they are vanishing by the minute. The sales person very politely packed all the boxea for us with assorted sandesh. A must try would be their rose, kesar and mango sandesh. Even though all of them are good, these clearly stood out. Its been 3 days since we got them and they are still very fresh tasting and in excellent condition!

This is my heaven if I am in Gariahat at all. I just love this place for its amazing sandesh es and doi. Even their namkeen is wow, choice is limited though. This place is a must visit for mishti lovers. I dont care about any other facilities when it comes to mishti. Hygienic too.

One of my mother's favourite confectioneries, they make Bengali sweets, doi etc. The sweets are quite tasty. I love their Mishti Doi, which is available in plastic containers. They have many customers who take away bulk of sweets for home as the packaging is very hygienic here. Variety of sweets available is quite large. Though a bit on the pricier side. It's a funny fact that they have weird price tags like Rs.17, Rs. 29 and what not, lol! It would really help with the chillar if they offered a rounded-off figure. All in all, a famous "mishtanno bhandar" for Bengalis who love sweets.

Located in gariahat, this is a very popular "mishtir dokan" because of its good quality mishti's.The two special items of this shop are nolen gur er rasgolla & mishti doi. The rasgolla's are very good and soft when they are warm or just prepared(which i like the most) and doi is also very tasteful.Other sweets and snacks are also good but the samosa's are not that good enough, too much oily and the stuffings are not always fresh. But definitely a place for typical mishti lovers and definitely satisfies one's cravings and prices are also reasonable enough.

Located opposite the quest mall.

I love the nolen gur rossagulla and rosmalai.
They are actually very cheap comparatively with the quality and the high shops we are accustomed to.
Mithai is one if best in what they are.

In love with their rosomalai and nolen gur er rosogolla. That actually beats various high sweet shops that we are accustomed to.
Prices are friendlier than most other places.

The Nolen Gurer Rossogolla of Mithai beats every other freaking sweetmeat shop in the city. I can drool over this like anything. I also love the rasmalais and other sandeshes available here. The quality of the chhena used here is very good. Definitely recommended.

Mithai serves the most amazing rosogulla in this part of town. When travelling outside Kolkata, I often get requests to carry mishti from here. The variety and quality of sweets is enviable. Highly recommended are the rasmalai, aam sandesh, malpua and their large size sandesh(pic attached). Next time you want to carry mishti for someone, pick up a biiiggg size sankh sandesh priced at R's. 135 instead of a box of assorted mishti. They also have ones which have Happy Birthday written on them. A good choice for people who dont believe in the ritual of birthday cakes.

I have a thing for the rossogullas here. 😍 I don't mean the others don't make it well ... but Mithai kills it. Even their rosmalai...guess every chain has its specialities and these are the ones from Mithai.
PS: very neat travel packaging for the above mentioned for patrons from out of Kolkata. 😃

Another interesting mishti shop for all the mishti lovers! Primely located at Gariahat, it's one of those mishti places that you must visit if you have a sweet tooth.
There are some mishtis that definitely need a special mention: mishti doi, jibhe goja, kheerer chop and pantua. During the winter season they make an awesome nolen gurer chomchom.
Like any other Kolkata mishti shop, they have all the typical mishtis as well that taste equally nice. Pick a sweetmeat that melts your heart and have fun!

The main branch of Mithai in Beckbagan has been serving some mouth watering Bengali sweets for a long long time now. This outlet very near to Gariahat Market, doesn't have the entire range of sweets like their main branch but nevertheless taste wise is the same ( thankfully ).
It's a small shop, besides the very famous wonderland toys and there's hardly any space to stand inside. There's a small station for people to eat their sweets and snacks and apart from that their service is quite fast unlike the other traditional Bengali sweet shops who take ages to pack your sweets. If I have to pick out one of their best item it has to be the SINGARA, hot and fresh, deep fried to a satisfactory level, the stuffing is delicious! As far as their sweets are concerned, apart from their misti doi one should definitely try their Sandesh and of course MIHI DANA! The pera is also very nice! All in all a little average shop, try their authentic Bengali snacks like khasta kochuri and SINGARA for sure! For the rest of the items I am a little biased towards their Beckbagan outlet.

Gariahat area is filled with sweet shops and Mithai is yet another name to add to the list. This one is located in Gariahat moving towards Golpark and is a smaller version of the main 'Mithai' outlet in Beckbagan.

Talking about sweets, nothing really changes from the original Mithai. Mithai generally keeps traditional Bengali sweets such as gur sandes, roshogolla, chamcham and other stuff. However they also include some modern sweets based on chocolates and something called ice-cream sandesh which are quite yummy! Misti Doi (Sweet Curd) is also available with them.

Snacks are not that inviting, but descent though. They have khasta kachori (which I won't recommend though) and singara. Nimki is also available here.

This outlet of "Mithai" is located in gariahat, on your way towards golpark. It is a small outlet, doesn't have any sitting accommodation. But offers variety of quality sweets like darbesh, kalojam, barfi, etc; but their signature offerings are those "massive sized gur and kheer sweets" with engravings made over it for various occasions like -diwali, bhatriditiya, rakhi, saradiya etc; these are one of their best and unique offerings and are really delicious in taste too. Their prices are a little bit on the higher side comparatively to the other similar joints though, but versatility doesn't have a price.

I really loved the rasgulla at Mithai and i think its one of the best rasgullas i have eaten if not the best. Right in the hat this place is not to hard to find. Its a very small set up and a bit of crowd can make it very stuffy. You get snacks and sweets and I would recommend you to visit it for its sweets especially the bengali ones. I had not gone with any expectations and hence it really surprised me with some delicious stuff. Rated very high for taste and excellant for value for money.

Winter in Kolkata is just setting in. It is November 2021. The main attraction in Bengali sweets is the advent of the Nolen and Patali Gur - the jaggery that is prepared after thickening the sap extracted overnight from the date palm (Khajur) tree. In the next 4 months some serious sweetmakers will use this special jaggery in most sweets made from chhana (cottage cheese). This jaggery is not meant for making sweets sweeter - it gives a unique flavour to sweets which you will not get after March 2022. And Mithai (Gariahat) is one such gur-serious sweet maker. Try their soft (norom pak) and hard (kora pak) varieties - the shankh sandesh (conch shaped), the flower shaped circular one, the kachagolla (cottage cheese cooked with this jaggery and hand shaped into a spherical shape), the talshash sandesh etc. This store has many varieties of sweets cooked with gur - so you can choose. The price used to be Rs 16 a piece a month back - but they have raised it marginally to Rs 18 a piece. Hope it stays there. Being seasonal, this price for gur items still seems reasonable. Other than gur, their Dorbesh (a light fried sweet) and Singara (Samosa, a snack item) are very good. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, they are the only shop which doesn't allow eating inside. So ask them before ordering if you have plans to sample and eat varieties of their sweets.

This place is my go to solution for any occasion in my family, they have the beautifully designed and delicious large sized sondesh with greetings like 'congratulations', 'shubho jonmodin' embossed on them that serves the purpose of cake for my ' cream-o-phobic' cake hating family members. Among the regular ones, I love the aam- shondesh and Pantua!

Mithai originally was and is located right on the corner of parkcircus beckbagan opposite to quest mall. The one in gariahat is a franchisee but the sweets and other products are same as the original. If you are looking for traditional bengali sweets then this shop is a must try. They also have snacks like samosa or katchuri but the amount is limited and they usually run out of snacks by early evening. Their sweets and yogurts are amazing and must try for traditional bengali sweet lovers.
